~ Happy National Sticky Bun Day ~

(Since I missed V-Day~)

Whether you have a sweet tooth or prefer a carbohydrate filled treat, the sticky bun is the ideal gastronomic delight to fill the brief. Fortunately for those who enjoy a good sticky bun, an entire day is dedicated to celebrating and eating them – Sticky Bun Day.
The exact origins of the sticky bun are debatable, as is the history of Sticky Bun Day. While some attribute the sticky bun to the Ancient Egyptians, others argue that it originates in Germany. However, one thing that is agreed on is that German settlers brought the sticky bun to Pennsylvania in the United States. These pastries were originally called ‘schnecken’ and are a specialty of Philadelphia.
Of course there is only one thing you can do to celebrate Sticky Bun Day in all its glory and that is to make or eat as many of these delicious snacks as possible!

  1. Tina I haven't had a sticky bun in a long, long time and now I want one. See what you did?

  2. TINA - Not sure I've ever had a sticky bun! Looks like a cinnamon roll to me. I actually prefer the persions at work. Tastes like a cinnamon roll, but is yeast based. Topped off with our amazing cinnamon roll frosting! Yummy!

  3. SLIN - What are you doing today? I just got up from a nap. Woke up an hour and a half early today, and couldn't get back to sleep.

  4. Had a sweet surprise at work this morning. I was working on a lottery audit, so I had my back to the registers, when I heard a familiar voice asking where the spam musubi's are! My friend Angie is in town for a few days, and stopped in to say hi! She's the gal from my hometown that lives in Kauai.

  6. Jodi, How nice that Angie stopped in to say "hello." I bet you wish it was the other way around and it was you stopping in to see her in Kauai. Kauai is my fave island. Ir's smaller and doesn't seem to be as crazy busy as the others. I have been there about 7-8 times and usually stayed in Princeville, which is a little cooler than the southern part of the Island.

I hope Jake's headache is better. Concussions are so scary, especially in kids!

  7. Tina, I echo J/L's comment. I want one too.

  8. Dianne, I hope your sore throat went away.

  9. Mary, Have you gotten an estimate on your room yet? The company's insurance should also pay for someone to help clean up the mess as well as fixing whatever needs fixing.

  10. Barb, I'm still coughing my head off. I feel ok besides that so I'll go be sure I don't have bronchitis at dr tomorrow. I get that or pneumonia fast.

We to see The Martian today and surprisingly like it. I really didnt think I would but we couldn't find anything else to go see. We went to The Cheesecake Factory for early dinner. Boy, was it good including the cheesecake. I hadn't been there in years and one just opened by us. We went at the right time because it wasn't busy yet.

I like sticky buns too but haven't had one for years. I now want one. Tina should have sent them to us.

Jodi, are you going to get to see Angie again before she leaves?

  11. Busy day today. Went to dr for cough and got drugs, went to lunch, grocery store, gas (before the snow), cleaned kitch, have crockpot going for dinner. Whew...makes me tired.

Update on Kayla...we had a family meeting Saturday night at her dads house and I went as mediator as everyone was emotional and stuck I'd been to dinner with her Friday night alone. It went pretty good .maybe. I'm going to go to dinner with the guy tomorrow night. Just us. Tammy and Andy went to meet with grandparents that he lives with since middle school. We shall see a day at a time but mo more running away. That was horrible!!

Jodi, looks like you and Angie were doing some partying today.

Mary and Jodi.... Snows coming but then nice weather again. Be ready. Put the flip flops away. Don't trust the groundhog

  12. HOdi I think basically that a sticky bun is a cinnamon roll with gooey frosting on it. No matter what you call it, it's good.

How fun to get a surprise visit from your friend, Angie. Are you still sneezing?

  13. Barb I'm looking forward to tonight's drama with the Bachelor ladies. Maybe having a drink will help soothe this nagging cough.

  14. Dianne You really have had a busy day. I have coughed so much that the muscles in my right side hurt every time I cough. That started a couple of days ago and was much worse that day than it is now. I thought it hurt a lot when I coughed and then I sneezed! OMG! I'm not coughing as much as I was so that's good as it is giving those muscles a rest and they don't hurt as much. I've heard this thing lasts a couple of weeks and I'm on track for that, so far. The only good thing about this is that my lungs seem perfectly clear. My sinuses are another story plus irritation to the throat causing a tickle.

I hope things calm down with Kayla and that boyfriend. Running away is definitely NOT an option.

  15. Hi gals! We have not heard back from the guy that took the estimates. I really didn't expect to hear from him yet as he has to special order the window. Nothing can be done until it arrives. It is hard to get someone to clean before the whole work is done. It would be pointless. No one but me can pack the files, pics, nick knacks etc. I will have someone paint and lay what ever flooring I choose. That means my heavy computer desk will have to be moved! Oye vey! All this over a single blade flying at warp speed!

No word on Raquel and her bleeding. I did read that she and her hubby were not far from the shooter that killed 6 people in the city where she lives. Crazy night!

Dianne, I am not amused at the weather you are blowing my way!! I am hearing possibly up to a foot of snow! I sure hope NOT!! We just got rid of all the snow we had and have had great temps!

I hope those not feeling well get better soon! I will stay far over here on the top branch!

Sticky buns and bacon rule!! (my hips can testify to that!)

  16. BARB - Of course I wish it was me in Kauai!! Hoping to get there next year. On Monday we hung out after her dentist appointment. She had some running to do in Madison, including going to the jewelry store she had her wedding ring made. Good thing I tagged along. My prongs are in bad shape, so they are replacing all 4 on my main diamond and 2 of the ones that hold the sapphires. Her Mom did a lot of business with that store, so i feel quite comfortable having them do the work. It is a family business. We ended up going to her fav bar/restaurants in Madison. Her Dad and stepmom, an aunt, and some of her former co-workers joined us.

  17. BARB - P.s. Jake is doing fine. He no longer has any symptoms from his concussion. Thank you for asking!

  18. DIANNE - I told Angie to stop in to the store before she takes off today! P.s. Thanks for the butt dial yesterday! Made me smile :)

  19. SLIN - Still sneezing, but not as much. Thankfully this is still "moving", and hasn't settled in my chest!

    ReplyDelete
  20. MARY - Waving a wing to you on that top branch!! I've been enjoying the "warmer" temps! Most of the snow is gone here, too! Yay!!!

  21. I best go hoist n rinse! Have a good day HOoters ♥

  22. Hi, HOoters! My symptoms are finally better than they were but definitely still hanging on. I still have trouble sleeping as that's when the serious coughing starts in again. I can't believe how painful my right side is now from the constant coughing. I may not have broken a rib but it sure feels like it. On the bright side, I emailed my doctor and she called in an Rx for codeine cough syrup. I just took some and am looking forward to having some restful sleep. I haven't had more than about 3 hours of rest at a time for the last 11 days and I am so exhausted. Well, that's it for now. Going to to bed. I'm looking forward to it. LOL

  23. Hi..SORRY YOURE STILL feeling bad. I'm still coughing and my drugs are not doing much for me with the coughing. Usually prednisone kicks right in for me but not this time. I'm too sick of coughing but you've been at it longer than me.

Took Kayla and boyfriend out to dinner last night. I had a list of things to talk about with them. I'm kind of being a mediator between parents and her. We don't want her running away again! Who knows if my talk did any good. I sometimes don't even agree with what I'm saying!

Gained .2 of pound today. Didn't think too bad after drugs and Cheesecake Factory this week.

We are back into really nice weather. I love it

Jodi, glad you're getting to spend time with your friend. It's so great to have old friends. I'm going to lunch with my grade school one tomorrow.

  24. Dianne LOL @ you sometimes not even agreeing with what you're saying. Isn't that a fairly new relationship that Kayla is in? It sure seemed to get dramatic fast.

Last night was the best sleep I've had since I got sick. I managed to sleep for 4 1/2 hours then got up and took more cough syrup and slept another 4 hours. What a relief to wake up and actually feel like I got some rest.

I hope your cough is better soon. Are you sleeping okay?

  25. JL, I laughed too at Dianne's " I sometimes don't even agree with what I'm saying! "
I am so glad you are getting some nice drugged up sleep lol! Whatever works for now eh?

Dianne, 2 lbs? Not too bad. Now get thee back on WW, summer is just around the corner lol! I keep back sliding! I sure would like to lose at least 15lbs, about Zoie's size! I am walking around with her wrapped around my waist and arse!

Jodi, I am glad Jake is doing well! How fun to have your friend visiting!
We got over a foot of snow here! We were lucky we didn't lose power. Hardly anything moving today. Many roads impassible! Days like these I am so happy to be retired!

SacBarb, where are you? you better check in.

    ReplyDelete
  26. SLIN - Yay!! So glad you finally got to sleep! I'm finally feeling almost 100%. It took almost a week, but I must say the rest really helped.

    ReplyDelete
  27. DIANNE - I hope Kayla takes what you have to say to heart, even if you maybe don't agree with what you said. I'm sure your gain had more to do with the drugs than anything else. I wouldn't sweat it. Have fun at your lunch tomorrow!

  28. MARY - We didn't get even a flake *ducking*!!! It was colder today, and ended up cloudy, but no snow.

  29. I've been enjoying watching The Eddie Aikau Invitational online. 30 + foot waves at Waimea Bay on Oahu. Crazy!!! These guys have balls to surf these waves. Wow!!!

Sam was sweet and brought a rotissary chicken and a couple of sides home from work for dinner. She also brought home a bag of Lays Korean Barbeque chips. I like them! She also surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of daffodils. One of my fav spring flowers!!

  30. Hello HOoters.

I've been kinda under the weather, too. You sickos have been spreading your germs. I am not coughing, tho, so that's good. I have just been sleeping a lot. Had a fever yesterday, but I don't have one today.

  31. Dianne, I hope your talk with Kayla and the BF have a positive impact on both of them. It's a tough age and tougher for some than others.

  32. J/L, I'm glad you got some relief from the coughing. I hope the ribs feel better, too.

  33. Jodi, I'm glad Jake is doing well.

  34. Mary, Here I am! How's the house coming along?

  35. Hey guys...I gained point two pounds not two pounds. 2/10 of a pound. I didnt think that was too bad. I'm afraid that prednisone will catch up with me next week. I did have another salad for lunch today. It was fun to see my old friend we get to see each other about every three months. I wished she lived closer.

Mary, I only sent you a tiny bit of snow...guess my nice weather went to Jodi. Jodi, nice that Sam brought dinner and flowers..sweet. I love daffodils too. What are Korean chips?

JL, glad you finally got some sleep. Good old codine to the rescue. I'm still coughing .a week tomorrow but sleeping fairly well. Yes, this is a very new relationship with too old of a boy for Kayla...two months. It's ridiculous.

    Barb...hello.

    ReplyDelete
  36. BARB - I never had the cough, just a nasty head cold. And thanks. sometimes I feel I should bubble wrap that boy!!!

  37. DIANNE - It's one of those flavored chips made by Lay's! BTW....any updates? Are they able to "tune" you up right?
