  2. Happy Easter all. JL, how were your ribs for dinner? I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

We had nice weather and a nice day. Actually, we went to my sons last night for my grandsons 16th bday. I hadn't seen the boys since Christmas so I loved seeing them. It was a really nice evening. Today Louis and I went to a fancy place for a brunch (where they serve you...not buffet). I had prime rib and eggs Benedict. Yummy. Louis had seafood crepes. After brunch we went to my brothers and visited and his kids and significant others came over and then for dinner , we went back up the in foothills and met Tammy and group for dinner. It was nice seeing all my grandkids this weekend and yes, the boyfriend was there.

Good job JL on getting your mammogram. I'm due in April.

Mary, sounds like you cooked big dinner. Did you have a lot of people?

Hi Jodi and Barb. Hope your day was good.

  3. I hope you all had a great Easter!
I took a long nap today and have yet to go to bed. I got up early to get the dinner started and visit my neighbor's church. She is always inviting me and I am usually to lazy to get up early enough yo go lol! I really embarrassed myself in church when my phone's alarm went off right in the middle of the sermon! I had forgot to turn it off! Like I said on FB, I did turn the volume down so calls wouldn't be heard. Now I know that does NOT count with the alarms lol! It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't taken a small purse. My phone barely fit in there and I had a hard time getting it out! I felt like I was on an I Love Lucy show!!

I have so much to do next week to get ready for my trip! I know what I am taking. I travel enough, but it still needs to be gathered up and packed! I had my pedi last week, now I need my mani., and of course I nweed to leave them guys gross-eries so they won't starve to death lol!
I was so mad a Jim last night! We came home around midnight from the Adam Lambert concert. I had a feeling Zoie was sleeping upstairs in Matt's room. Jim opened the door and started calling for her. I quickly tried to stop him! I no sooner got the words out "don't call her!" as I was headed up the stairs, when here comes Zoie, all excited, half asleep, rushing to meet us! She tumbled down 3 steps before I was able to stop her! I held her for a long time, scared that she may have hurt herself!
She was frightened, but thank goodness not hurt!
I don't think Jim will forget that for a while!

Well, I just cleaned the kitchen and folded laundry. I am debating on emptying the dishwasher. Later kids.......

  4. Hi Dianne! We were typing at the same time!
I only had 6 people to serve. It was a nice change from the usual large crowd. I understand that others have plans with the other branches of their families.
Niters Dianne~~~~ , my lovely owls and lurkers ;-)

  6. J/L, I had a good laugh at your 'cheap thrills' comment. I am overdue for my mammogram, but I'm going to do it soon. I'm going to get my taxes done this week, hopefully. I have an appointment, but I've been having a vertigo episode all weekend, so I hope it clears up by Wednesday. I'm taking the Meds left from the episode I had before my back surgery and it is helping.

  7. Mary, you are so generous to be getting a new car just so your grandson can have one.

  8. Jodi, I hope your sciatic pain is gone. Be careful walking on icy walkways. You do not need a fall to make it worse!

  9. Mary That is so funny about your alarm going off in church. That'll teach that neighbor to keep inviting you! LOL

I'm so glad Zoie didn't hurt herself falling down those stairs. Could she have problems with her eyesight?

  10. Dianne My ribs turned out great! It sounds like you had a lot of good food, too, and a full day of visiting. It's nice that the boyfriend was included.

Are you, Mary, and HOdi sending cold air to me? I guess probably not but it was very windy most of the day and it was a really cold wind! Everyone was complaining about it.

  11. Barb I hope your vertigo episode is over. What a miserable thing that is to have. My mother would get it periodically and sometimes it would be so bad that she would throw up. I hope yours isn't that bad.

I had something happen today that surely made my blood pressure go way up. I got my car a smog check and when I went to pay with my debit card, it didn't work. I didn't think too much of it as I had never been to this particular mechanic before, he just opened up shop not too long ago so I thought maybe it was his card machine or something. I then went and got my nails done and my card wasn't working there, either. I went to the ATM at my back to see if the card worked and it did but it said my balance was -$131. WTF? When I made a heft deposit on Saturday it indicated I had a balance of over $2,000 not counting the deposit. My first thought was that my account had been hacked and my money stolen. I go into the bank and discover that the manager had put a hold on my deposit because of the high amount but accidentally put a hold on my whole account! I was NOT a happy camper but very relieved that my money was still there. It fixed it right then and there so I could access my funds.

By the way, this is the first time since I got my hybrid car in 2005 that I've had to get it smogged. Apparently, they didn't have a machine yet that could accurately measure emissions from hybrids since they alternate between gas a battery. Now they do.

  12. I'm here in the snow again!' Drove across town after my Wednesday lunch in blowing snow...lots of slow traffic. I wanted to get home while i could still see.

Louis went for a root canal today and they ended up pulling his tooth and now he needs an implant. It will be his third expensive one!! Always something coming up that requires $$$.

Boy JL, I would have been freaking out too about my debit card. You just never know nowadays what's going on. Glad it all worked out in a good way.

Barb and Jodi...How are you both feeling? Better I hope. Barb, I'll let you know on that show as echo tomorrow night weather permitting.

Mary, all packed? What day are you leaving and for how long? Guess you'll miss this snow this time. At least you won't have to shovel. Get on that plane in a hurry.

  13. Dianne Oh, good. I'm not alone here anymore. Did the others fall off the branches?

I feel sorry for Louis having dental issues. You have been doing well in that regard for a while now, haven't you?

It's cool and overcast today. I don't feel inspired to do anything.

  14. I'm still here JL. Shhh don't mention dental issues around me. I go for a cleaning next month and I hope that's all. It's snowy here today. Cancelled my show again tonight and moved it to next Thursday when it's supposed to br 78 out. Louis and I
Went to lunch to get me out of the house. I finished cleaning my bedroom closet last night. I had a million pairs of pants in every size from my working days and got rid of all but three pair. I never wear them. It looks so nice in there now. Last week we did the pantry and one kitchen cupboard. Just getting a little organized. We have a pick up from Vetersns tomorrow for all these bags of clothes.

I think I will clean out my bills receipts from last year tonight for shredding since taxes are done. Tammy takes the shredding to her work for me. Left overs from lunch for Louis's dinner.

I wonder where the others are the last couple of days? I always think there is a party I don't know about somewhere. Lol

  15. Hi there hooters! Wish I could stay longer. You all know the pre trip routine lol!! I have also been clearing my office to prepare for the work that has to be done.i am selling my huge desk and hutch and downsizing with more storage room. Someone is picking the old one up so I had to empty it! What a mess! I need a vacation lol!!
I am not sure about the Internet service in Cancun, so, if you don't hear from me, don't worry :)

  17. I am on my way out the door, had to pop in and share something. I have known for a long time that my Grand daughter had been struggling to find her place in the world. She was just as confused I'm sure. She was such a beautiful little girl. As she grew up we would have little talks. One stands out particularly. She said "Grandma, I may move to NY, California or the Netherlands when I grow up.They accept everyone there no matter who they are." At first I thought she was talking about racism in general. Later I noticed a few things about her and came to the conclusion that she was being more specific. I am glad she has come to turns with her place in life as a man. Now I need to rethink my "pronouns. I will try my hardest! "HE"is my worls :)

Here is what he wrote on FB yesterday

"Due to the fact that it is the trans day of visibility, now is as good a time as any...

A lot of you have figured this out by now and/or were told by myself or my mum. I am transgender, I prefer male pronouns (he/him/his) and my name is Liam. I went by Kaiden for a bit because it's close to my birth name and unisex enough that no one would say anything or ask questions. Liam is a name that my mum and I agreed we both like and that is what I will be changing it to legally. My name is Liam Martin Curtis and I will no longer be responding to anything other than Liam. To be quite honest, I don't care how this makes anyone feel; if you don't like it and don't support me - I don't want you in my life. Don't come to me telling me why you think it's "wrong"... I don't care. If that's how you feel, you're intolerant and close minded and I will block you. This is not new - I have felt this way since I was 12 and finally figured out what it all meant when I was 14. I'm almost 21 now, I'm an adult and in a couple months I will be starting HRT. I'm not going to tolerate people disrespecting me and refusing to call me Liam. If you're trying and you mess up, I'll gently remind you, I know it takes time. I am a son, brother, grandson, nephew and soon I will even be an uncle. This is what makes me happy and when someone uses my birth name and/or wrong pronouns it gives me anxiety and frankly, it makes me feel absolutely horrible. If you care about me at all, you will adjust. This is not your life, this is not about what makes you comfortable - this is about my happiness, my mental health and what makes me comfortable - it's my life and if you want to be a part of it, you'll adjust. I have wonderful friends who love and support me, they respect me and use my proper name and pronouns - this is what's best for me. Don't come to me with any preachy "God doesn't want this" bs either. I just wanted to let people know and if you're willing to adjust, I'm very grateful and thank you. If not... Please don't bother to express why or try to change my mind. This is who I am, I'm a grown man and I can make my own decisions. Furthermore, I did not decided this - this is just who I am, I've felt this way as long as I can remember. If you have general questions: Google is great. If you have personal questions and you're accepting and respectful, I'll try to answer.... If not... Don't bother asking. Thanks."

  18. Mary Liam explained the situation beautifully and kudos to him for being true to himself. Your love and acceptance for him as a person and not just as a gender will mean the world to him. Kudos to you, too.

  19. Dianne You have been a busy bee cleaning out closets and organizing. I should get inspired by you and start doing the same. I have some dresser drawers that could certainly use some purging. This gray, cool, overcast weather is not making me feel very industrious, however.

  20. Mary, I agree with JL....Liam did explain himself and probably already knows of your love for him. I have found these last couple of years, we need to be able to adjust if we want to be around and continue the closeness with our children and grandchildren. We (I) don't always agree but we love theM for who they are....and I know we are all the same in our little nest. I believe our love in "unconditional".

JL...my next project is my desk drawer and kitchen drawers. I need to make room for more junk.

Today I went to Walmart to get my second round of homeless items. Bonnie had mentioned how she makes little containers with items in there that come in handy and gives them out when someone is standing on the corner at that red light. I followed her lead and made 12 of them and now have one left. It makes you feel like you are possibly helping in a small way. Now I just have to make my assembly line to put them together.

Got the car washed as our weather finally is nice and my car was filthy. Lunch and dinner .thats about my day. Tomorrow I'm going to lunch with my deceased husbands daughter and kids. They still call me grandma Dianne. I always love spending time with them.

  21. Waving a wing from chilly Wisconsin! I worked Easter....10 1/2 hours. It couldn't be helped. I called Paul at 1 to tell him to go ahead without me. I was in pain and exhausted. I just wanted to go home and ice my back. I asked that he bring me a plate of food from his parent's house, and he did! I didn't even warm it up. Ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, pickled beets, and a nice big slice of angel food cake!!!

Between the Gabopentin and going to acupuncture twice last week, I'm really doing quite better! My pain level is at 0 or 1 most days and I'm moving a lot better! I finally start PT on Tuesday next week. I'm also considering taking yoga. Sam's good friend Hannah has her own studio. I feel like she could help me learn, and not judge the "old gal"!!! lol!

Trying to fit everything in before Sam's surgery next Wednesday. I got my hair cut on Thursday. After work on Monday I have acupuncture, drop off my taxes, and have a dental cleaning, and on Tuesday I start PT. Whew!!! I also made an appointment for an eye exam, but couldn't get in until the 20th. It's been 2 years since I last had that done, and I can tell my prescription has changed. I'm considering getting contacts. But we'll see.

  24. I'm watching the Merrie Monarch competition live from Hilo, HI (the Big Island) online. Tonight is the 2nd night and my favorite. Kahiko is usually a group, and tells a story. The Kuma Hula (teacher) chants the mele (story) and plays a drum. Very visually beautiful. I don't understand a word (all in native Hawaiian), but enjoy it immensely!! Especially when the kane (men) dance. They wear little to nothing (kind of like a sumo wrestler) but adorned with lei's and the traditional head dresses made of greens and usually greens around their ankles, too! Aloha!!!

  25. SLIN - Such a scary feeling when your debit card doesn't work!! Thankfully they were able to fix it right away! That happened to me when I went to Indianapolis last summer. I forgot to tell my bank that I was traveling, so they denied my card when we went to check into the hotel. Thankfully I have an app on my phone and was able to message them right away and the hold was lifted the next day!

  26. DIANNE - We've had one day that we had maybe an inch of snow, but within a day it was gone! I went and got my toes and feet groomed because we've had temps recently in the 50's. Time to break out my Birkies!! I also mowed my legs. lol!!!
