This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! Christmas Eve we drove to my Nieces Raquel's home for dinner and gift exchange. They are such a cute couple! They bought their cute home and it is so warm and inviting! Today we stayed home and I made dinner for my son Tony and his family. I hadn't seen my Grandson Liam since he announced he was transgender. We tried our best to remember to call him Liam and not Kylie. I slipped a few time on the "he/him" thing. I thought I had prepared myself that way. Oh well,I am sure I will get better in time. All in all it was a wonderful visit. I got in a lot of hugs :)
I am pooped! I made turkey with all the trimmings and hot beef for sandwiches for those tired of turkey lol! Liam is a vegetarian who doesn't eat veggies lol! He doesn't eat meat, but does eat mashed taters, cheese, rolls and Christmas cookies, so he ate lol!
We have one more mini Christmas gathering at my son Tony's house on Wed. My Grandson Logan and his new baby and mother will be visiting. I can't wait for that!
Jim and I are getting ready to make plans for a trip to Vegas in Jan or early Feb. After all, it has been almost 2 months since my last trip lol!
I am catching up on my fb, emails and of course my nest, with a nice glass of wine. I am hoping to get to bed early, but you know how that usually goes lol!
I went to area 51 and caught up on the posts. I forget who asked what lol, so I will answer to all. My dizziness went away. I prolly should get a physical. I haven't had one in a few years. I am sure Dr will just tell me I am fat lol! I need to watch what I eat better!
Our turlett fiasco was taken care of. We rented an electrical "plumber's snake thinghy" and my son fixed the problem in a few minutes. We also had our septic tank emptied. What a job to have! Jim said that the guy stuck his head in the back yard hole we dug up and he said 'yup, it's full!" I asked Jim if the guy wore a mask, he said nope, just stuck his head in there lol!
Barb in WA, It is good to see you back! I love all the picks you post! I envy your living close to you Grandson.
Hi....we had a nice day at Andy's. Both of the girls were there and interacted with each other, which was nice to see. Jake-ass called later and we heard kayla yelling at him about wanting to work and go back to school and he doesn't want her to...such an ass. She's been spending time seeing old school friends that she hasn't been allowed to see. She didn't seem sad today for once. It was a good day. It was bad that the Broncos lost bad though.
MARY, glad you had a good weekend. Also glad all your plumbing issues are taken care of..yuck!! Are you looking at any shows for your Vegas trip? Maybe George Strait will be back. Go on his website and check.
How's your meal today JL? Lots of good food? Hope you enjoyed time with your daughter. I think you said you will be seeing son and grandkids this week too. Fun.
Barb, are you tired of cooking yet? You had a big weekend and I'm sure you're pooped! Are you cooking for New Years too? We brought some ham home today for a few ham sandwiches..that's the extent of my cooking.
I mentioned I could use a special lotion I like so between everyone, I recd eight bottles. I think that will, last me awhile.
Barb in Wa, how was you day today. Did a Harrison enjoy himself? Glad your mom came over.
Boy, did I eat good yesterday at the Christmas buffet at the Silverado Resort in Napa. OMG, my daughter and I and her friend, Rachel, all hurt ourselves eating too much. We started with Bloody Marys. I took small servings of food but it all added up to a lot. I had three kinds of salads: endive, persimmon, and aged gouda; Bibb lettuce with roasted beets; and a wild rice Waldorf salad; assorted cheeses, toast points and onion tart. Then I had a small bowl of butternut squash. I don't care for crab, smoked clams, or sushi so I bypassed that but did have some delicious large, wild shrimp. Then the main courses....There was turkey and ham but I concentrated on the prime rib. I also had whipped potatoes, mac and cheese, carrot, and cauliflower. I had no room for ravioli or bread rolls. We were all complaining how full we were but went to the dessert table, anyway. LOL I only chose a chocolate mousse cake but could only eat about a third of it along with my coffee. Anyway, I'm telling you all this because I got on the scale this morning and am down 1 1/4 pounds. How does that even happen? Plus, late last night I was eating olives and drinking sparkling cider while watching TV.
I was typing away on the other blog and didn't notice the "New Blog" alert until I had three comments posted, so I just copied them over to here!
Hellooooo HOoters. Happy day after Christmas. I think it is boxing day in Canada. I was very busy the past two days and today I am really tired, but I have a housekeeper coming over at 1:00 and I am very happy about that. I thought it better to have the house cleaned after Christmas, instead of before, so it will stay clean for longer. I figured everyone would be too busy to look too closely. I do clean the bathrooms regularly, so the house really isn't that bad. I mainly have the housekeeper about every three months or so to vacuum the whole house at once. I can only do one room at at time, so by the time I have done all the rooms, it's time to start over.
J/L, Your Christmas dinner sounds about like what we had, except we had asparagus instead of broccoli. When I was shopping for all the stuff, I saw a lemon herb mix for asparagus, so I decided to try it and it was a big hit yesterday. Usually I just steam it in the microwave with a little salt on it, but the herb mix was very tasty. I plan to have a sandwich tonight with some of the left over prime rib, and there's four pieces of asparagus left so I'll heat that up, too.
J/L, I forgot to say that I applaud you for going back into the fray to pay for that card. I think I would have just gone home. I so lucked out when I did my shopping for Christmas and I probably would have gone back that day, but not if I had to stand in a long line again!
Dianne I'm so glad you had a drama free Christmas Day and it sounds like Kayla was enjoying herself, too. It is encouraging that you heard her being adamant with Jake-ass about wanting to continue schooling. It's also good that she's had a chance to visit with her friends away from Jake-ass's influence.
Barb I think we were just stepping on each other. LOL Well, I applaud you for doing all that cooking for everyone two days in a row. Have you recovered? As for going back into the store, I kind of had to. If it was only the greeting card, I might not have if I am to be honest about it. Normally, yes, but when I had to wait in line so long again, maybe not this time. But I also had a gift card that I need to purchase and get activated so I kind of had no choice so no kudos warranted on that.
Mary I'm glad you got your plumbing issues taken care of. Why does crap like that happen right before a big holiday? No pun intended. LOL Anyway, I'm thankful not to have a job like that guy who fixed your problem. Of course, having so many animals and working in the veterinary medicine field, I've had my share of $hit on me.
J/L, Wow, that was some buffet. I bet it was expensive, too, especially with all the shell fish added. I like going to buffets because they have such a variety and I can always find something I like. It was nice of your daughter for asking her friend to join you. I invited a friend of my sister's for Christmas day. He and his partner used to join us on Christmas Eve for many years and then somehow we lost touch for a few years. His partner passed away three years ago in November, and I have invited him every year since then. This year, his partner's family invited him for Christmas Eve, so he joined us yesterday. It was really nice because we had 10 people on Christmas Eve and only four of us yesterday. He got here a little earlier than everyone else, so we had some time to chat.
Dianne, How nice that Kayla and her sister got to be together for a while on Christmas. Maybe Kayla will realize how controlling Jake-ass is now that she can reconnect with her friends and family. Maybe Emily can get through to her about Jake, or even her friends. I pray that someone can get through to her! What will happen to Kayla if she doesn't complete her community service before the deadline?
Mary, You are such a busy Bee! I'm glad you haven't had more dizzy spells, but you still should get checked out by the doc. It's nice that you are able to spend holidays with so much family. I wish my other two sons lived closer, but that's not gonna happen. Since Todd and Vicki finally bought a house, they will want to spend every holiday at home. Christmas is Vicki's favorite holiday and she decorates EVERYTHING at home and at work. Todd says that anything that stands still long enough gets decorated, even him and the dog! And since Chad is single and has no family in Seattle he always volunteers to work on the holidays so his employees with family can have time with them.
Barb That was nice that you were able to reconnect with Marie's friend. I'm sure he appreciated being included and getting to catch up with you. Oh, and I'm sure he appreciated the good food, too. Speaking of which....did Marie bring fortune cookies? LOL
Dianne Well, I am not surprised. Did anyone really expect to lose weight during the holiday season? I'm still needing to lose the rest of the 7 lbs I gained while at my brother's. I've lost 5 1/2 of it now.
Yesterday I went to Avenue to look for a top. I actually bought one and also bought a pair of tall black boots. They were on sale for $29, regularly $89. Score!
Yesterday, Sharon and I went to see Rogue One, then we went to lunch and went back to see Manchester By the Sea. I think both movies were really good, but Sharon was less impressed with Manchester. It was a little dark, but I liked it a lot and Casey Affleck was very good. Then, when I got home I heard about Debbie Reynolds. OMG, another huge shock.
Hi....happy new year. Anyone doing anything fun tonight? We are going out to dinner with two other couples and we will be home by ten. I just to love going out on New Years Eve. No one seems to do much anymore. Guess getting older. I'd still go somewhere if I had somewhere to go.
JL, sounds like your shopping trip was successful.
Barb, Louis went to see that movie yesterday and liked it too. I'm going to see that Will Smith movie on Monday but can't remember the name of it right now.
Merry Christmas. Everyone
ReplyDeleteAwww Barb, thanks for the special hugs. I sure do miss you a lot.
ReplyDeleteSurprise....kayla went to church tonight with my son and family. I am surprised and happy about it. She at her dads tonight.
JL, I will probably gain it back too
Merry Christmas Eve to all, xxoo
MERRY CHRISTMAS, HOOTERS! I hope you all have a wonderful day. Catch up with you later....
