An Ugly Man Walks Into a Bar

  1. Hi, HOoters! So I noticed last night that my next door neighbor now has Christmas lights up and a blow up Rudolph on the front lawn. Meanwhile, there are still Jack-O-Lanterns on the porches across the street. LOL I am definitely not ready to skip Thanksgiving and rush to Christmas. Remember how proud I was of buying my Christmas cards so early? Well, not a single one has been addressed. Oy vey!

  2. Very Funny Dianne. Thanks for sending it to Tina to keep us going. Sorry about your Broncos yesterday. The Raiders won, but it wasn't a good game. Lots of turnovers and dropped passes by the Raiders.

  3. J/L, I worked on Christmas cards all weekend with the Jennifers and we are working on them again next weekend, hoping to finish. We got a late start this year because one or the other of us had conflicts with dates. Jennifer B. is thinking she will retire in a year, and Jen N. has 10 more years to work. She is a baby still.

  4. Mary, Has your son gotten a surgery date yet? My doctor comes back tomorrow and I am hoping to find out what my options are instead of the MRI that I can't have. Then, I will find out if I have to have another back surgery.

  5. I went to a Fibromyalgia class at Kaiser today and frankly it was not much help, but I did meet a lady who is versed in alternative medicine and uses CBD oil to help with her pain. CBD oil is extracted from cannabis plants and she makes it herself. I got her phone number so I can talk to her more about it. Caryn Franson uses it on her dogs, and I asked her about it but she has not used it for her fibromyalgia.

  6. SacBarb, no news on a surgery date yet. I hope it is before Thanksgiving.
Seems like"waiting" is the name of the game eh? I hope you get answers soon. I hate that you may have to have more surgery :(

JustLin, so funny having Jack-O-Lanterns clashing with Rudolph!! I have been thinking of getting our outdoor lights up, since the weather is kind of decent (in the 40s).

Today I did some raking. Our red Maple has huge leaves. I had to stop half way through because my shoulders were starting to hurt.
I came in and made a enchilada & Spanish rice, dinner, then made deviled eggs for our VFW Aux meeting. It was snack night. Not too hungry after my big meal lol!

Tomorrow afternoon is my Mammogram. I am not fond of "boob smashing" lol!

Dianne, sorry about your Broncs. Our Lions won tonight :)

  7. Mary, your team did great tonight. I’ll bet you are excited. Its always fun to win. I think we will lose again Sunday. Our whole team is playing terrible! The city is not happy and want the new coach gone. We also need a QB. Oh well...next year as they say. Have fun at your smashing appt tomorrow. Actually, hope it is all good.

I had a nice bday lunch with a friend and then a family dinner for bday. I think I’ll skip weighing in this week. I’m celebrating getting old too much. The kids gave me a beautiful Coach wallet that I’ve been wanting. It was a nice dinner. We did early this week as Tammy is going to Florida with a work friend that won the whole trip. The airfare, hotel, dinners and admissions to Universal, etc. It will be a lot of fun for her.

Update on Jake-ass. Court today and judge said he’d seen him five times for restraining orders from all different people. He gave him a year in jail!! He still goes to court dec 6 for his sentencing of sex with a minor. He talked in court and said he was sorry. Needless to say, we are very glad. Kayla still gets emotional about him. Why is beyond me. She starts cosmetology school tomorrow. Excited for her.

JL, well. You’ll be gone for quite awhile. I sure hope you’ll pop in from time to time. That’s funny about your neighbors. If it was up to me, we’d have the tree up by now. LOUIS...not so much. Did you get any painting done this weekend? Will you be able to at your brothers? Did you get to the movie? Hope so. I sure ask a lot of questions, don’t I? Btw, I haven’t done my cards yet either. Soon though.

Barb, you are so good about getting yours all done. Now many do you make? Lots of work but I think you love doing it. Be sure and let us know about your dr. I wonder if that oil will help? It’s sure worth a try. Congrats on your Raiders. Maybe not pretty but at least you won. Do you like the coach? I like him. He came from here and we all liked him.

  8. I forgot to mention how funny that joke was!! Caught me off guard lol!! Served he right ;-)

My Mammo went pretty good. Not too much to it. I told the tech that for some reason they always double check my left boob, so she did too. I hate when they say things like "I need to double check this", but never say why. Makes me nervous !

Jim went to the casino and won $1000! He even gave me $100. He may be going to Vegas this month or next, alone. I offered to stay home and watch the dogs, since we will not be sure what Matthew will be able to do if he has the surgery. I told him to go and have fun. Aren't I a good wifey ? :)

Tomorrow is my usual lunch with me old GM friends. We are going to a wonderful Italian place that has been around for years.Family owned.
I visited a friend of mine tonight who had a shoulder replacement. I had never heard of that. I guess any body part can be replaced, well, almost any lol!!

  9. Hello...well, it was supposed to snow today but it drizzled and was very gloomy and cold ..brr. At least the roads were good so I wasnt house bound. You all know how that isn’t good for me. Had a dr appt at 3:40 too. I feel cold in here tonight. I have my socks on.

Remember tomorrow tonight is the CMA awards show. It’s always so good.

Mary, you are a great wife telling Jim to go to Vegas without you. Does he mind doing that or ok with it? How great that he won $1000 today. You two are so darn lucky. Do you play the lottery? Glad your mammo went good. I always get nervous when they do second X-rays too. I try to read their face but it doesn’t help. Have fun with your friends at lunch tomorrow.

JL, are you packed yet? Guess you have to pack a lot although I’m sure you can just do laundry at your brothers. What day is his surgery? Maybe you’ll get your cards all done while you are there. I think that will inspire me to get busy on mine. My mom was known for sending hers out over Thanksgiving. I’m never that early.

Barb, have you started signing your cards yet or are you in the finishing making stage. I think you’d said you had one more weekend of making them.

Kayla started school today and was excited telling me about it tonight. She said they will start with manicures.

  10. Barb That's great that you have your two Jennifers to make cards with. I believe you all agree on a design so you can create a kind of assembly line but did you ever have a time when it was hard for all three of you to agree on the design? Just wondering.

We have some rain coming and it feels like it will get here sooner than the weatherman said last night. I'm hoping it does get here sooner than expected and that it will pretty much be over with by tomorrow morning. I'm going to be taking my dog up to my daughter's in American Canyon tomorrow and I really would rather not be doing it in the rain. I've become such a baby about driving in the rain on freeways, probably because I don't have to do it if I don't want to. When I was working, it didn't seem like such a big deal. I guess caution comes along with old age.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mary Your menfolk are so lucky to have you! You are such a hard worker and then you cook a great dinner, too! If I worked as hard as you during the day, it would be soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. To be honest, it would most likely be something delivered as I have that option here. I really should be more physically active like you are. It would be better for my health and my weight.

I hope the freezer works out for you. I would have to be part of any decision when it comes to appliances. After all, I'd be the one using it the most.

Wow! Congrats to Jim for winning $1,000! I would be over the moon if I ever won that much. Was that on a slot machine?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Dianne Well, waiting for rain and not wanting to drive in it is nothing compared to snow! I would really not want to drive in that. I guess I would become a shut in if I lived where you do. I suppose if I grew up with it, it wouldn't be so intimidating but I still wouldn't want to drive in it. It's so pretty to see from a warm, cozy distance.

I won't be taking my Xmas cards to my brother's as I don't want to take up space or add weight to my suitcase. It would require bringing 3 boxes of cards and my old-fashioned address book. And no, I'm not packed. I do have a list of things to do that I am checking off as I do them. Today I have to go to the post office and put in a "Hold Mail" notice. I want to get my nails done right before I go, too. Maybe tomorrow night or Friday afternoon would be good for that. Yesterday, I went to the hairdresser. I went back to having dark red hair. I didn't feel comfortable with the color it was and the highlights. I felt like I looked washed out.

I'm so glad to hear that Kayla is excited about her school. That's great news.

  13. Dianne2 I forgot to say Happy Birthday! I hope you have a fun day!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Happy Birthday Dianne!! Seems like your Birthday partying goes on for most of the year lol! Jim would rather I went with him, but is excited to be going. He hates to fly, but will suffer for Vegas lol! I need to save my money for the spring trip. It looks like we are still going. They may back down when it comes to making the final pymt!
I am glad Kala is excited about school. She sure needs to keep busy!

JustLin. Jim won it on slots. Video poker. He sure was happy! I feel bad for him because his one hand is so crippled from arthritis. The fingers all curve away from his hand. I don't know how he bowls with that hand!

Barb, my Niece uses that oil. She was in a terrible accident many years ago and had her legs reattached. The oil helps with the pain where other things didn't. She hated taking pain drugs.

  15. Hi....thank you for the birthday wishes and JL, For the nice card. I had a good day at ww and lunch st Olive Garden for my free pumpkin cheesecake. LOUIS and I just went near our house for some dinner. We will go next week for a bday dinner. He gave me beautiful diamond earrings ..very nice. I always love jewelery.

I had bday lunch with my cousin today. I haven’t seen her for two months as she had her knee replaced so it was very nice to see her. I thing else on agenda today. Stopped at grocery store...fun.

Mary, glad to hear you are still going on your trip. It will be fun. It will be hot too, right? I think you like the heat though. When is the trip?

JL, just take the envelopes to address while you’re gone. It wouldn’t be so heavy unless your address book is huge. Did you get your dog delivered to your daughters place? I was wondering when your brother was having his surgery? How long are you staying? Boy, your packing sounds more and more like me. I really don’t like to pack but I like to go on the trip. I wish we were gong away soon.

Barb, I bought a few Christmas things at the grocery store today. I’m in the swing of things. I just wish we could put up the tree but that’s not going to happen this early in this house...says Louis. I should do my cards since they are just sitting there. I have talked LOUIS to taking me to a craft show early tomorrow morning for a couple of hours. I can’t stay too long as having lunch with my niece and then it’s hair day. Have you ever sold cards or anything at a craft fair? I think it would be fun if I was crafty .

  16. Mary, received your cute card today. It’s so true too. Lol. Thanks.

  17. Dianne Plans changed about taking my dog to my daughter's. I'm not taking her until later this morning as yesterday was a very busy work day for my daughter. She's able to work from home but had a lot of conference calls, etc. I don't know which day would have been better driving weather. It appears we will have some scattered rain today just like we did yesterday.

You sure know how to celebrate your birthday. How nice to get new diamond earrings. My husband (the good one) always liked to get me jewelry as gifts. I certainly didn't complain about it. LOL

I will be at my brother's for 3 weeks and am returning 12/2. His surgery is this upcoming Tuesday. We will have Thanksgiving together so that will be nice.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Mary I'm sorry about Jim's arthritic hand. I'm also surprised that he bowls with it. Is his hand very painful to him? Whenever I start whining about my aches and pains I need to remember that some have it worse... a lot worse.

I'm glad to hear you and your friends are still going on your trip. It would be a shame to cancel because they don't trust the situation in a completely different country nowhere near your destination. That doesn't even make sense. The way these mass shootings keep happening in the US, it might be safer in most other countries. I know if I lived in a different country, I'd be thinking twice about visiting the US.

  19. Barb What's up? I hope the oils work out for you. I do believe Whoopi has a line of those oils. I forget what their brand name is.

I'll be thinking of you as I go over the Bay Bridge today. LOL My one concern is that the heavy marine layer doesn't interfere with my GPS on my phone. I always use it to go to my daughter's as there are some freeway changes along the way that I still don't have committed to memory. I guess it's like phone numbers in that I no longer have anyone's phone number memorized because there all in my phone and I don't have to remember them. Maybe that falls into the "use it or lose it" category.

  20. J/L, I went to see Rose, my new best friend. She gave me some cookiesw that she made with CBD butter, which she also makes herself. She told me to start with 1/4 of a cookie to see how I react, because they are very potent. It takes about one hour to get the full affect. Well, after an hour, I didn't feel anything so I ate another 1/4 and after about 30 minutes I started feeling really tired, so I just went to bed. I slept four hours and when the pain in my arm woke me up, I looked at the clock and was amazed. I have not slept more than 2 1/2 hours at a time for about two years. I think this is gonna help me.

I meant to mention about not taking my shoes off at the airport. I didn't have a pre-check on my boarding pass this time so I had to go through the whole thing, excpet they asked me if I was 75 or older. When I told them I was, they said I didn't have to take off my shoes ever again.

  21. Dianne, The Jennifers and I are working on our cards again this weekend. I am sure we will finish them. A friend of mine used to do craft shows with her daughter and it takes a lot of work to get all set up and then take down and pack when doesn't sell. In the end, they didn't make that much money for all that trouble. I just make them for fun and to send to family and friends, although until recently I didn't get them out as much as I would like. Kathy told me about your system for getting them all ready at the beginning of the month and putting the date in the corner as a reminder, and I did that for November. Hopefully, I can keep it up in the coming months.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mary, I agree with J/L, you are a hard worker. Maybe if I had more people in my house, I would cook more, but I really hate cooking for one, and having to clean the kitchen afterward. It's so much easier to just zap something in the micorwave.

Does your niece ingest the oil or use it in a cream as a topical? Rose gave me some to ingest by mixing it with yogurt or applesauce, because it tastes bad. Them she gave me some cream she made with CBD and other essential oils. She said it is good for arthritis pain and fibromyalgia. I haven't tried the cream yet. I'm afraid to do too much all at the same time.

  23. Hi....Barb, received your nice card today. You sure make really nice cards ..I appreciate it, thank you. I haven’t really heard of the oils so I hope it really helps you.

JL, so your doggy got delivered today, right? Good luck to your brother Tuesday. It seems like there are so many people getting new knees. I’m sure glad I’m done with that fun operation. I love jewelry for gifts too. I had shown him some but they didn’t have them so he upgraded. ..nice. My dad was a Birthday celebrator and we always did growing up. ..I guess I inherited it from him, my daughter did too. Lol. Miss you already.

Mary, I too am surprised Jim can bowl with his hand. He’s a tough cookie. Any plans for the weekend? Be sure and remind me about your trip of where and when. How many of you are going? My hairdresser is going on her first cruise tomorrow. It was changed due to the hurricane so she’s extra excited to be going. I hope she loves it.

Well, LOUIS took me to the craft show at 9am....he was not too excited. I was up early like I was going to a party. I just love going to them. I was able to,pick up a few presents and a few things for myself. Lots of Bronco things available and of course more jewelry. Need somewhere to go to wear all these things. We were done in two hours. He took some sitting breaks while I inquired about things with sales people. I really appreciated him taking me and then I was off to bday lunch with my niece and then hair. We just went down the street for some Mexican food for dinner. I wasn’t hardly hungry.

Tomorrow Barb and another friend are going to a nice Italian place to celebrate all three of our recent birthdays. I wanted to go to movie too but don’t think that’s going to work into plans. I want to see a Daddy Two. It started today and looks so funny.

That’s about it for me. Tomorrow I will unpack all my treasures I bought today.

    ReplyDelete
  24. SacBarb, As far as I know, my Niece makes a batch of some kind of concoction from the oil and only puts a tiny drop on her tongue. She says it is nasty lol!
I used to sell my stuff at craft shows along with my girlfriend. We never got rich, but the camaraderie with all the crafters was fun.

Dianne, Our Lions won! I haven't heard about your team. Our trip is scheduled for early April. It's a ways away. Jim went with me and my girlfriend to a craft show once...that was enough for him lol!

JustLin, You are right about no longer having to memorize numbers. It is tricky when I have to fill out a medical info. papers and they ask for Jim's phone number. I have to open my phone's address thingy lol!

I spent yesterday at the VFW. We were serving free meals to the Vets. I enjoyed talking to them and thanked them all for their service.
I had a "senior" moment. I hope no one saw me! I packed Jim a "to-go" meal and went out the door. I opened the back door to my Jeep to put the bag in. I didn't recognize anything in the back seat. I closed the door and was thinking, man I just got into someone else s black Jeep that looks just like mine! I looked at it for a moment and slapped myself in the head! I no longer have a black Jeep! It's silver lol!! The black one is now my son's, but it sure looked like his! I'm still shaking my head at that lol!!

It was a wet & gloomy day today. <----- sounds like the first chapter of a horror book lol!, any way.. I made t-bone steaks with all the trimmings. The kitchen is clean. I am waiting for the drying to stop so I can put the sheets back on the beds. Exciting eh?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well....we just had kick off and it’s not supposed to be a pretty game. I can only hope. Congrats Mary on your win. You are moving along with two wins in a row!

Today was busy...met a friend for lunch and then met barb for a visit while she ate lunch. It was a nice day to be out. I didn’t get done what I was planning but there is tomorrow...always tomorrow (I hope).

Great we already dropped the dang ball and they made a touchdown. It’s two min into the game. I think I might start Christmas cards. I think. Two touchdowns. I’m not hopeful.

Mary, you dinner wet my appetite. I love steak. Nice juicy t-bone. That’s nice seeing dinner to the Vets. Funny about your Jeep. Blame it on that it was dark. I did that once but it was light. The suv was the same color as mine but looked very messy inside. I was glad the owner didn’t come out besides why is their car unlocked!! I think LOUIS was over the craft show before we got there. I’d prefer to go without him for more time but I do what we have to do.

Barb, you are very quiet. I did see on fb that you went to that movie and liked it too. It’s very interesting, isn’t it? Sad too.

JL, I’m assuming you have arrived at your brothers. Getting all settled in for Tuesday?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well, The Jennifers and I finished our Christmas Cards yesterday, then we went to see Only the Brave. They did a really good job of telling that story. I didn't realize how young most of the victims were. All but two were in their 20's. Very sad and it happened so fast!

Dianne, I'm glad you like the card. I used your system of sending out Birthday cards this month. I hope I can keep it up.

J/L, I hope you had a good flight to SoCal. Check in when you can so we know how it's going. I will keep your brother in my prayers.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Barb, glad to see you. That’s great you finished your cards. When do you usually send them out? I had hopes of starting mine during the game and it’s a terrible game so I have no excuse me Except that I’m lazy. What happened in the movie did happen so fast. I didn’t know the story so I was surprised by the ending. Very sad. i don’t remember the story. I was hoping to go to movie today but didn’t get time.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ok guys....I started my Christmas cards tonight. I’m about half done or maybe a little less. At least the miserable game didn’t the distract me!

My team is done for the season. Embarrassing.

    Night

    ReplyDelete
  29. I’m all done with cards ...just need to put on stamps. I ended up going back and staying up to 3:30am but all done. It feels good. Now if I just. Could get gifts wrapped.

  30. Is anyone going to write? I’m lonely.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi, HOoters! My brother's surgery today went well. I had to get up at 5:30 this morning and I am sure not used to that. I got back to the house at 5:30 this evening and was so tuckered out that I just made a sandwich for dinner.

While you guys are talking about being done with your cards, my cards sit at home. LOL

I hope all is well with everyone. I have no wifi here at the house so will make this short. I plan to make it an early night tonight. I'm exhausted.

    ReplyDelete
  32. JL, I’m so glad that your brothers surgery went well. I suppose he’ll be home in a day. I would imagine you are tired. It as a very long day for you. Get a good sleep tonight.

Not much new here. Still having beautiful weather but I think it’s getting cooler tomorrow. Weather people say Thanksgiving will be nice...I sure hope so.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi gals!
JustLin, I am glad all went well with your brother! Time for you to get some rest. You were there a long time!

Barb, You must be way ahead of schedule with your cards! I have been "thinking of doing mine, does that count? LOL!

Dianne, Sorry about your Broncs :( I don't think our Lions are going far, but at least there is a dimmer of hope :)

I had a full day today. Our Union retirees had their Thanksgiving dinner at noon. I had a hair appmt at 2:00,picked up Zoie's grain free dog food, mailed out Shirley Hartman's Birthday card in Lansing hoping it gets there in time, bought a few gross-eries, got gas,a few more quick stops and picked up some food to take home to the men. Now I am on line paying bills, between folding cloths!

Jim got lucky again at the Casino Tues. He came home and told me to look up tickets for Vegas lol! I got a good deal and used my $100 voucher, so off we go in a few weeks!
Friends are going there on the same flight, so that will be fun!
I just sent an email to the Kennel that takes Queenie (black Lab). Matthew will watch the house and Zoie.

    Later....

    ReplyDelete
  34. Fun you are going Vegas after all, Mary. Glad you changed your mind. When are you going? Boy, Jim is sure a lucky gambler! I’d be excited to win $100! Remeber when LOUIS won $1200 on cruise. We now have to claim it.

Went to ww and lunch today. I did so-so and lost point six! After all these bday lunches , I felt happy with it.

I’m getting irritated with my kids. We are trying to come up with a date to do Christmas since they do other families this year. Neither of them can pick a date as they have school functions, working, other family things and they think I plan too soon. I wonder why? I finally picked a date and see who comes. LOUIS and I will probably eat alone! Gr

Barb, you are very quiet. Check in

I recd alot of packages from amazon today. I order most things online since I can’t walk the malls anymore. Louis was not thrilled carrying everything from the mailbox. It’s alittle down from here. There were some things for us too.

Well, I’m signing off for the night. Night all

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dianne, I have been doing some Christmas shopping online, too. The UPS drivers are very familiar with my house this time every year. I can't walk the malls either and I really don't like holiday shoppers. I realize they are the same shoppers that shop all year, but for some reason, around the holidays they seem more tense and rude!

I haven't started addressing cards yet. I've been busy doing other things. I have a CT scan scheduled for next Wednesday afternoon. I didn't want to do it the day before Thanksgiving, but they only do them on Wed. and I didn't want to wait another whole week. Dean's wife is cooking for Thanksgiving so I am going there, but I am making my sausage stuffing as requested by Dean. He doesn't like the kind his wife makes and she doesn't like mine. I guess it's all about what you've grown up with. Mine tastes better when it is stuffed in the turkey, but I guess it's good enough or in any case better than what his wife makes. I don't eat stuffing, so I don't even know what she puts in hers. Todd's wife makes different stuffing than I do also, but she makes both hers (her Mom's, really) and mine. One goes in the cavity of the bird and the other goes in the neck and held in by the skin.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mary, I guess 'thinking' of doing your cards is good. You are such a busy person, I don't know how you even have time for cards.

    ReplyDelete
  37. J/L, So glad your brother's surgery went well. My second knee surgery recovery was so much easier than the first one. I hope his is easy, too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Barb, glad to see you. I miss walking the malls but I think those days are over. Thank goodness for online shopping. I’ll keep you in my prayers for your CT Scan.

I think your stuffing sounds wonderful. It’s my favorite part of the meal. I used to make mine with sausage too and everyone loved it. One time the kids dad was at Tammy’s for Christmas dinner and wanted to know who made the great stuffing. Imagine his surprise! Of course, I was a young bride when married to him and barely knew how to cook.

JL , my second knee surgery went better too. My son had a long knee surgery today. They moved his kneecap and broke a bone under It and did some repairs and then put the kneecap back in place. Ouch. He’s doing ok tonight at home but in pain. We hung out at the hospital for most of the day. It was nice to visit with my DIL too. How’s your brother Doing? I’m sure he’s home already..

Mary, my cards are ready to mail ...just need to put stamps on them. Now wrapping.... not so much.

Are, be sure and let us know results of your CT Scan.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dianne, Thank you for your prayers and I will report back with the results of the CT scan. After all that they did to you son, they sent him home the same day? That's crazy! I hope they gave some heavy-duty pain meds.

  40. I am not a happy camper today!I knew my internet service seemed to be a little slow lately, but blamed it on all the rain we have had. Today it quit altogether! After a few calls and nobody returning them, Matthew finally made one more call and got someone. W won't be getting a service call until the 27th! We have to use a special device called a "Cantana" and a router because we are too far from service providers. Verizon is the only one that works out here, and of course the most expensive! The local farmers have their own network, but like the "Hughs". it is very slow.
I am using my iPhone's "hot spot" on my PC and tablet for service.

It is supposed to rain all day tomorrow. I have a DJ/Karaoke job Sat. 8-12. Moisture is not a friend of my equipment!

I got my first Christmas pkgs from UPS yesterday. I mainly by books for all the young ones.I always get great compliments from the parents for sending them. They love reading to them and say the kids have most books memorized lol!

I made home-made pizza tonight. It disappeared pretty fast.

I think I messed up my shoulder yesterday. I was up on a ladder putting up a tarp to the outdoor kennel. I went to step down and didn't realize I had one more step before hitting the ground, and when I reach for the ground my foot felt nothing and I jerked my shoulder to grab the ladder! Oh well, Queenie seems to like the shelter from the wind lol! I put tarp half way up and part way down her outside kennel so she still can peek out.
It looks like it will be just the 3 of us for Thanksgiving. First time ever. Raquel is 8 months pregnant and doesn't feel like traveling, Her Mom will make sure she gets a turkey dinner, since her hubby is going to his families dinner near Detroit.
I invited Karina and her hubby Steve, but they have tickets for the Detroit vs Minnesota football game in Detroit that day.

I really HATE this getting dark early crap!
Did I mention "I really HATE this getting dark early crap! " LOL!!

  41. Hi, Hooters! Just another quick hello. My brother is doing well and is dedicated to getting back to normal as soon as possible. Last year with his first knee replacement they kept him in the hospital for 3 nights but only kept him 2 nights this year. The reason is that Medicare is not paying as much so hospitals are encouraged to push patients out quicker. That's what the surgeon told us. Dianne, your son's surgery seems like it would require at least one night in the hospital.

There's nothing much for me to report as we are not running around as you can imagine. I have driven his truck a few times and am getting used to it now. Last night we had pizza delivered but today I am making pot roast for dinner. My brother is really looking forward to it. Its a comfort food, right?

Next Wednesday we are meeting my cousin for lunch. He does not live near by and I have not seen him for decades. That ought to be fun. It will be hot. We expect it to be 90 on Thanksgiving. What a great day to have the oven on for hours. LOL

That's it for now. Take care all.

  42. I am making a quick fly by on my way to bed.I slept in today. That night life is pooping me out lol! It was a great night with no problems, well, except when I was tearing down my equipment. I had this cute, but drunk gal wanting me to let her friend sing one more song. I told her I already did 3 "one more songs", besides I had already turned off my puter and put away the microphones. She keep begging! Duh! I am not going to plug things back in for "one more song".
Thank goodness it had quit raining so we were able to load my stuff without covers!

JustLin, I am glad your brother is doing well. Your pot roast sounds yummy! I made beef tips in gravy with mashed taters, salad and home made biscuits. I made a bunt cake for desert.
I really need to get to bed. Waving at Dianne and Barb~~~~

  43. Hi.....JL, so glad your brother is coming along good. I’m surprised MEDICARE allowed two days. Yes, I think. my son should have been kept overnight too. He’s seems to be doing pretty well although he has quite a bit of pain. They are sending a leg machine to him tomorrow that will bend that knee. Pot roast sounds good to me too. We had a pizza delivered last night too.

Mary, seems like you’ve been doing quite a bit of night shows lately. I sure wish I could go to one once. There’s always one in the crowd it seems. Congrats on winning your game..we once again lost...as usual. Next week we play the Raiders there. I’m sure that will be an ugly game. We are playing for a good draft pick now. Mary, your dinner sounds good too. LOUIS had left over pizza.

Barb, what are you doing this weekend? I went with Barb to see Daddy’s Home yesterday. It was so funny. We laughed through the whole movie. I recommend it if you want some laughs. Mel Gibson plays one of the dads.

LOUIS put up most of the Christmas decorations yesterday for a surprise. All I had to do was help decorate our little tree it all looks so pretty. I’m still celebrating my bday. I had a lunch today and tomorrow and a dinner Tuesday night. I think I’ll be done then..finally. It’s been fun.

  44. Hi ...

Everyone shopping or busy with dinner plans for Thursday? I went to Walmart yesterday for some things and not very busy. Boy, they have some great sales. I bought too much but things like gift boxes, etc. I did buy a massage pillow for myself!

Weatherman is saying record breaking temp for Thanksgiving...70. I’m glad.

Well. Not much to comment on here since I wrote last. Thinking about when Im going to mail my cards. Soon.

  45. Hi, everyone! I'm making a quick fly by to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. It will be 95 here tomorrow so not a great day to be cooking a turkey for hours. My brother doesn't have A/C except for a window unit in the living room. He's on a tight budget so no wifi here either.

Today we met with my cousin for lunch. I hadn't seen him for many decades. It was a fun visit.

My brother is still doing well. He started driving a couple of days ago. I was starting to get more comfortable about driving his truck but am happy to not have to. Drivers here are more aggressive than what I'm used to.

Barb, I hope your appointment went well today.
