  1. Hi and Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Hope you all are having a good day.

JL, how did your dinner turn out? You too Mary. JL, did you deal with the heat ok? Barb, ur stuffing turn out as good as usual?

We had a nice day. My kids we were their other families so we went to a close friends home. I had to bring the shrimp tray. I got off easy. We are going there for a Bronco party Sunday and I’m bringing (at her request) another shrimp tray. We ended up going to my daughters for dessert later after their dinner. It was a very nice day. We also had a record temp of 72...perfect day.

I still brought left overs home from both houses! We lucked out.

  2. Dianne. Happy Thanksgiving! Your temp of 72 sounds perfect. I was dying making our holiday dinner. It all turned out fine. One funny thing....I made deviled eggs and then forgot to put them out. LOL. By the time dinner was served, I was so darn hot and tired that I can't say I enjoyed it too much. I will enjoy it a lot more tomorrow as leftovers. It sounds like you lucked out today. You got leftovers without having to do the cooking.

Btw, I never did get a chance to see the Wildland firefighter movie in the theater. By the time my friends were available to go, it was only playing at 10 p.m. and none of us wanted to go that late. I will have to catch it when it's available On Demand or Amazon.

I hope everyone had a pleasant day.

  3. Hi all!
This was the first Thanksgiving I was able to sit, eat and actually digest my food lol!
Since my Niece Raquel didn't feel like leaving home (8 mo. preggy), her Mom took Turkey and all the fixings to her. We had my two son's Matthew,Tony, his wife,Jim and me. I didn't even have to pull out the table extender.
Today Matt and I put up the Christmas lights. We had to replace a few strings and lots of lights because Queenie destroyed them last year! She won't be on the patio this winter lol!
I did a bit of shopping on Amazon. I mostly bought children's books.
I have no idea what to get Jim! He is so hard to buy for. He loves to gamble, so I am thinking of running up to his favorite casino and getting some money chips . He is big on anything to do with money lol!

Dianne, I am hoping the warm weather out west stays until we go to Vegas. It's no fun going on vaca when it's as cold there as it is here lol!

JustLin, I have done the very same thing with deviled eggs! I have left dishes I was warming in the micro, until after the meal! My son now kiddingly ask when we sit down for a meal.."is there anything in the micro?"

    Barb, how are you??

I need to go back to area 51 to see if I missed anything. I had to rush here because Dianne "lovingly" nagged me to come in here lol!

  4. Hello...BARB , where are you? Missing you. Tomorrow is the Raider/ Bronco game. Raiders favored by 4-1/2. I’m sure they will win because we are terrible this year. We can only hope!

Mary, it’s supposed to rain/snow Tuesday and Thursday and then get nice again....74 today and tomorrow. When do you go to Vegas again?. Hope the weather will be nice for you. Sounds like you had a nice thanksgiving. Are you in the Christmas spirit now? I am but have been for awhile. I received a lot of packages in the mail today. I’ve been ordering a lot of gifts.

JL, I was thinking about you when they were saying record breaking heat. That must have been not fun cooking in the heat. I hope you’re enjoying leftovers. We haven’t eaten ours yet. We’ve been busy with errands and tonight had fun with a friend and husband at dinner. We went to Costco last night for a prescription and spent almost $200 on other things. They have some really cute Christmas gifts and I had a hard time resisting.

That’s about it from this end of the country.

  5. Helloooo. I am here. I did get the CT scan and the doctor had a hard time getting the dye into my spine first. He said my back fusion created areas of bone where he couldn't get the needle through and had to poke me four times. He did numb it first, so my left butt cheek and leg were so numb, I had to lean on Sharon all the way to the car. I hope I will get results next week.

We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner at Dean's house. We ate at 2:00 and Dean and Deb packed up a lot of leftovers for me, so I've been eating them all weekend. I finished it off today.

Last week I took Arch's mom to a doctor appointment. She has stage four cancer and her appointment was to explain her options. She has just completed a round of chemo. As soon s she got in the car, she announced that she had a cold and proceeded to cough the whole time we were together. Well, I have been coughing since Friday and every time I swallow, it feels like I'm eating glass shards. I have not gotten a flu shot yet. Last night I slept in a big ole chair because I couldn't breathe laying down. This chair is very comfortable because it's an over-sized chair with a big foot stool. It's called a chair and a half. I have been taking Emergen-C and I hope it helps get rid of these germs.

  6. Barb, so glad to hear from you. I had emailed to check on you too. It’s not like you to go so long without posting and I was getting concerned about you. Glad to hear your thanksgiving was nice. Dang to get a cold. You need that flu shot very soon. Your ct scan sounds like mine not being able to get the dye in me. I had to go to another place and on another day. One was mostly because they couldn’t find a vein on me to get that contrast in. Painful. Was yours? I hope not. Anxious to see what your diagnosis will be finally.

Your Raiders won today but it was a dumb game with everyone fighting, etc. we played horrible as usual. We pretty much want a new team and new coach!

  7. Hi gals!
For some reason I woke up at 4am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I should have gotten up! Instead I laid there thinking of what I should be doing and must have dozed off about 6am. I didn't get up until 10! I went to Menard's to look for a new artificial tree. Our old one is looking kind of sad lol! I couldn't make up my mind. I looked at so many! I want a tall skinny one, but not as skinny as Whabby's lol!!
I bought all the stuff we need to put up an eves trough on the one side of the sauna. The rain washes down into the side of Queenie's kennel. I have been nagging Jim about it and finally decided to get the dam stuff! I could barely get the 10ft trough and down spout in my Jeep, but I did, kind of cross ways! I waited until Jim took Queenie to the Vet for her shots and put up a big heating lamp in her kennel. She will still come in on bad nights, but until she settles down, she will be in her kennel during the day. I wrapped 3/4 of her kennel with a heavy tarp to keep out the rain and wind.

Matt and I will put up the eve trough when Jim is gone to the Casino tomorrow...as usual lol!!

We finally got our internet working! The guy came today. He was nice enough, but his pants looked like they hadn't been washed in weeks! I felt kind of sorry for him and gave him a tip. He had to use our very long ladder to fix the problem. Good thing we had one because all he had with him were hand tools!

I was called to do a DJ /Karaoke job this week end. I can use the money with Vega$ coming up :)

Barb, OUCH on the poking! I hope you get to feeling better soon. Darn the nasty cold germs! My left-overs are almost gone. No Turkey for Christmas. I am a bit sick of it lol! I think I will get a nice standing rib roast.

Dianne, so sorry about your Broncs. Our Lions lost too :(
We leave for Vegas Dec. 11th and come back on the 15th. We don't like leaving the dogs too long. I have been doing a lot of cyber shopping. This is the first year I have started my shopping so early. I won't be panicking about stuff getting here too late!

I sure will be glad went deer hunting season is over! Poor Zoie. Shw gets ready to squat and BANG! shots are fired and she makes a bee-line to the house! The other day I had to drive her into town to the walking trail so she could get her business done. She had gone without for too long.

    Later.....

  8. Dianne, I was thinking about the whole time that doc was poking me. Even though he was numbing the area first, it still hurt. Then I was so numb, I could hardly walk to the car. I had a headache by the time I got home. I didn't hear from the doc today, so I will probably call them tomorrow. I don't want them to forget about me. I will be the squeaky wheel.

I watched part of our game on Sunday. I was beginning to feel this cold coming on, so I kinda dozed through most of it. We had a good lead at one point, then I woke up again and it was gone. I watched some of the highlights, and it was pretty sad.

  9. J/L, You are getting some really warm temps in SoCal. I'll bet you'll be glad to get back to the ocean breezes. You are such a good sister to go and take care of him.

I got a call from my credit card company asking about some charges on my account that came up as suspicious. And, I did not make those purchases, so they had to cancel that card and issue a new one. I hate when that happens, because I have some bills automatically charged to that card and now I have to call and make all those changes.

  10. Mary, I LOL'd at the image of poor Zoie getting startled by the sound of gun fire. Poor puppy. When Todd and Vicki lived in Denver, their dog would not poop in the snow. Todd had to shovel out a big circle and lift the dog and put him on the clean lawn. That dog was really spoiled! It's a good think they didn't have kids, I guess!

  11. Hi, HOoters! My brother is healing nicely. He got the staples out yesterday and took a one mile walk the day before that.

Barb. I'm sorry you caught a cold from Arch's mom. I guess the saying us true that no good deed goes unpunished. Also, sorry to hear someone was using you credit card. What a pain in the butt to deal with that. I'm glad you caught it quickly, though. I also pay attention to charges on my cards. You just never know.

I'm also sorry about you having to get poked so many times. I'm sure that wasn't pleasant.

Dianne. I had to laugh when you wrote you wanted a new team and new coach. I've been feeling that way for a few seasons now.

Oddly enough, last night we went out to eat and had to put on light jackets as the temps have dropped so much. It actually felt a bit like fall. Yeah!

Mary. Your poor dog not being able to poop. Fortunately, I don't have hunters where I live but the jerks setting off fireworks have the same effect on my dog. It's very frustrating.

You are such a hard worker. I hope you are careful when you do those difficult physical things.

  12. I went from, "what should I make for supper", to, "Where should I order the pizza from?" LOL

  13. Hello.....well, I had to get an unplanned root canal today. It hurt yesterday when I was getting prepped for it. Tooth had a crown on it that needed to be replaced too. I’ve been having a small off and on tooth ache. Very expensive too. I’ m all well now. I get final crown next week.
It’s always something. I started coughing bad yesterday but it seems gone today. ...thankfully. I gained a darn pound at ww yesterday. I guess not too bad over thanksgiving and a bronco party except I wanted to lose!

Barn, how’s that cold doing? Better? Any news on your scan? Been thinking about you. I hope you’re feeling better. I hate colds. Mine go right to chest. Sorry about your credit card. I’m heck mine too. It’s a pain to have to change things.

JL, about ready to come home? You are a great sister. Well. Your team did get a new coach. We seemed to want him but I guess not enough. He might turn out ok. Glad your brother is doing well. He’s had a good nurse. I’m going to try and go see the movie Wonder this weekend. Heard it was a really good movie with Julia Roberts.

Mary, pizza sounds good. I’ve just about had enough turkey until Christmas now I hope you’re not climbing on any roof. My friends dentist was hanging his Christmas lights last week and he fell and died. He was only 55. Have you started wrapping Yet? I have to many smaller things to put everything in bags. LOUIS and I got a small amount of wrapping done the other night...still have lots more. Good thing you get dj this weekend. You can gamble or do some good shopping. Fun. Weather should be pretty nice I would think. Have fun.

I should be wrapping now since Dennis but went to bank and grocery store again for some more Christmas wrapping things. I already went yesterday and to Walmart the day before too. I keep forgetting things even with a list. I’ve been laying down ever since.

  14. Dianne, I want to see that movie, too. I heard it is a real tear jerker, so bring your Kleenex. This cough is wearing me out. I got some OTC drugs to help cough up some of this crap. Sorry if that is TMI.

I have gotten a few things for Christmas gifts, but I think I will mostly give everyone cash. I ask them all to make a list from which I can choose, but they rarely do that. Since we don't see each other a lot, I don't know what they even like anymore.

  15. Mary, Pizza always sounds better than cooking to me! I really don't like cooking that much, especially for just one person. I ordered a rib roast to cook for Christmas. It is so easy to cook and everyone likes it. It has been our tradition since before my husband died and the kids really like that I still do it.
