  1. Dianne, Good one! Nothing like getting the whole neighborhood involved!

I'm up early this morning because I ordered gross-eries from Safeway and am awaiting their delivery. My sister called me yesterday and asked if I needed anything and I told her I have a craving for oranges. This cold is really kicking my A$$! I also wanted some drugs to help clear all this mucous that I am having trouble coughing up. My ribs hurt from coughing so much. Then she told me she 'might' be going out Saturday and she would be 'happy' to get whatever I need. She ended with "you know I would do anything for you!" I told her never mind, I'll order from Safeway. She said that was a good idea! So, Safeway is my new best friend, with a promise to deliver between 8am and 10am.

I hope you are doing OK after that unexpected root canal.

  2. Just finished watching Carol Burnett special. It was so good and brought back so many memories. Some made me kind of sad as there were so many people that aren’t around anymore. Made me wish for the old days.

Went to see the movie Wonder yesterday with Julia Roberts. It was a very good movie. I had a few tears. The little boy is so wonderful in the movie.

Barb, how are you feelng? I hope your cold has gotten better. It’s miserable to have a cold as it lasts so long. I hope you had a restfull weekend. Glad you were able to get your groceries delivered. That is a handy thing they offer now. I wrapped some this weekend but not much. I have a lot to go. I’m doing fine with much less $$ after my root canal. I go back on Wednesday to get my final crown. I think I’m done paying this time. My insurance covered $268.....big deal.

JL, are you going home tomorrow? I’ll bet you’re ready to see you dog and get back to your own bed. Have you been cooking a lot for your brother? You’re a good sister. Now you’ll have to get your cards done. Do you do,any decorating at home?

Mary, how did your karaoke go this weekend? I hope it was calm. Did your equipment work good? Our Broncos did horrible once again. We even had two safeties against us. We haven’t had this kind of losing history for 50 years. We keep waiting on Monday’s for the coach to get fired. We have no quarterback or team. We are eight losses in a row....embarrassing. Hard to believe we won the Super Bowl two years ago.

Went to our HOA Christmas brunch yesterday. It was very nice. You take a gift and then they give you one. We both recieived those nice soft throw blankets..different colors.

Well, near 70 today and 30 tomorrow with possible snow. I hope not.

  3. Dianne, Thanks for the beautiful Christmas card. Your's is my first this year. I need to get mine addressed. I have been spending a lot of time in bed, sleeping, and not getting anything else done at all. Not sleeping well at all, either. Last night I got about four hours in a row and that's the most I've gotten in a week. Mostly it's been about two hours at a time and them I have difficulty falling back to sleep. When I do get back to sleep, I usually start coughing and it starts all over. I think I will go to the doctor tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm feeling like it's bronchitis and I think I can get drugs for it.

I watched the Carol Burnett special, too and enjoyed it very much. It was very nostalgic and a little sad, too, seeing all the people who are gone now. It's hard to believe those shows were on so long ago.

  4. Dianne Thanks for the new blog. It's nice to start the day with a chuckle.

I got home Saturday night and spent most of yesterday shopping for my friend whose birthday happened while I was away and also shopping for food as I had emptied out the fridge before I left on my trip. I did some cooking for my brother; chicken piccata, pot roast (by request), a chicken and spaghetti dish that's very tasty, and of course turkey dinner that we ate for several nights in a row. A couple of nights we had some version of soup and sandwiches. Other nights we went out to local restaurants. He told me several times how much he appreciated the meals I cooked.

It is nice to be home in my own bed. Today I will be going to get my dog. I'll be happy to see her. I'll also pick up my mail at the post office today that they have been holding.

I do some Christmas decorating in the living room. I haven't bothered to get a tree for the last few years as I like big, real trees but they are difficult for me now to get in the house and to get back out. Plus, the lights are a pain in the butt. This year I purchased a table top fake tree of very good quality. I haven't put it out yet. I hope I like it okay. It's better than no tree and is very realistic and is pre-lit.

  5. Barb I'm sorry to hear that you are still so sick. Please go to the doctor if at all possible. You may very well have bronchitis and you don't want that to go untreated. All the coughing is such a strain on the body. Thank goodness for Safeway delivery services. They were a Godsend when I broke my shoulder. My friend, Jane, picked up some things for me, too, but I didn't want her to have to do my big shopping for me. Safeway did a great job and I was very pleased.

I also watched the Carol Burnett special. So many of those old skits are just priceless. I still cry with laughing every single time I see them. Rob brought up a good point about wondering where Julie Andrews was. It's a mystery.

  6. Mary Waving a wing at you. Are you busy accomplishing lots of stuff while I sit here in front of my computer drinking coffee?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Barb, I too think you should go to the dr. Drugs will help a lot. That coughing is very annoying, especially if you’re not getting good sleep. Glad you liked my Christmas card. It feels good to have them out early. I just only wish my wrapping was done. You have plenty of time on your cards.

JL, welcome home. I read Julie Andrews doesn’t sing anymore. Have your tree up? How do you like it? Ours is small too. We decorate the living room and a wreath on the door. I like the lights on at night. Boy, it sounds like you cooked a lot. You’d better rest now! You cooked more than I have forever.

Tonight is an easy night for Louis’s dinner. He’s doing his thing for a colonoscopy tomorrow. He’s already done drinking for the night. Jello for dinner. He has to drink again around 3-5 am. I’ll be taking him early. I think he might be ready for lunch afterwards. I have a pedicure tomorrow and that’s it...then wrapping. I went to Walmart to pick up something today and ended up with a full cart. I have been back numerous times and keep saying it’s the last time...this time it really is the last time.

I’m going through all my prescriptions to be sure I have everything ordered for the end of the year before my cost goes up again.

Mary, what’s up? Are you getting all ready for Christmas? I see today is your sons bday. Did he request a special dinner or did you go Out?

  8. Hi gals! I could have sworn I had posted on this pg! I am losing it LOL!

Dianne,my Karaoke nite was unusually peaceful. I had two young guys that must have started drinking waaay early, but they were ok. They were so drunk that I put a chair by the karaoke stand and told them to sit and sing lol! They gave me hugs and apologized.
These are peeps of peeps I have known for years, so they know me. I try to smile and put up with their shenanigans as long as no ruckus starts. I think the bar has a no 2nd chance rule and get barred. Jim stayed home because he has been fighting a cold & cough. It was a bit tricky tearing everything down and packing in my Jeep by myself, but I did it. I did have a deer jump out in front of me on the way home, but i didn't hit it thank goodness! Gun season is over.
BTW, I did cook my son a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings.

It has been a busy week! I have sent out a few cards & wrapped gifts. Today I took pkgs to the P.O. and UPS. Everything that had to be sent is gone! Yay me! I only have a couple of parcels coming . Thank goodness foe Amazon Prime! The only 2 things that haven;t come, were not ordered from Amazon.

Today I had a fun lunch with my GM friends. We always exchange lottery tickets. Every time we meet we draw playing cards to see who picks the next restaurant. We draw numbers to see who wins our money pot. We all put in a dollar. If I get the number 3, and I am the 3rd one served, I win! Well, I didn't win today lol!

Late this afternoon I went to my daughter-in-laws house for their Christmas party. I was in the middle of making guacamole when we lost power (at home). I can make it in the dark lol! It was a hit at the party.
My Grandson Logan is going into the Air-force next week, so we were saying our goodbyes to him.
I guess our power went back on after I left. The winds have been so bad that therre have been many power outages. I hope our power stays on! It is in the 20s temp wise tonight and the rest of the week!

Barb,I am glad you are back home. I sure hope you kick the cruds soon!

I know this is a long post already, but I have to tell you something funny.
My son loves all things "Star Wars," so I thought it would be funny to get him a child Star Wars themed cake. NEVER, I mean NEVER get an all dark blue frosted cake! Our tongues and lips were all blue! None of us would eat an other piece! I went to the store and bought a vanilla frosted cake lol! I took the sheet cake to my VFW Aux. meeting's Christmas party. I told them whoever wanted what was left, which was all but 3 pieces, they could take it home because we had 2 cakes and had no room for this one. Well the Aux Prez. spoke up and said that her hubby loved his sweets and would rake it home. I never mentioned the "blue tongue" bit lol!

  9. Justlin, I must be losing it for sure. I was sure I mentioned you until I posted and re-read my messed up spelling lol!
I am glad you are home. I need to get our tree up before we leave for Vegas. My trees get smaller every year. I'm not sure I would have one up if Matthew didn't insist. He loves all the decorations. They do make the house look cozy.
I just noticed your comment about your sitting drinking coffee. How did I miss that? I worry about myself lol!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. J/L, I am contemplating putting up my Christmas tree. I have an artificial tree with the lights already on it and last year I put it up with only the angel on the top. I was afraid the cats would be too curious. I'm not sure what I will do this year. I am still coughing like crazy and I have no energy to decorate. If I wait too much longer, it won't be worth the trouble for just a few days. I'm glad I have the artificial tree because I read an article about live trees and how many live critters are in them. I never gave that a thought all the years we got real trees.

  11. Dianne, I'm hoping to get my cards out by the weekend. If I get them all addressed maybe I'll feel ok enough to take them to the post office. I have only been out of the house once since Thanksgiving and that was to go to the doctor. Oh, and I do go to the mailbox every day, but that's just a walk to the end of the walkway. I have not put on make-up and just let my hair air dry after getting out of the shower, so I have been waiting until after dark so my neighbors won't see me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mary, I hope Jim doesn't have what I have. The doc told me it's a bad virus that is going around. I got drugs for bronchitis, but they haven't really helped and the doc said I probably don't have bronchitis. I didn't get a flu shot this year yet, so now if I still want to get one, I have to wait until this bug is all gone. It could last another two weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  13. SacBarb, a big part of Jim's coughing has to do with his smoking. When he gets a cold it hits him hard. He keeps on smoking through the coughing! I just made him a hot toddy.

I finally put our tree up. I have it a corner with a love seat in front of it. Zoie wont be tempted to mess with it.

I got a mani today. I have not had one in a while. I was trying to get my nails healthy again.I couldn't stand it anymore! They were so ugly!

    Back to my cards!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hi! ! Well, I was sick yesterday. Went toner and now on antibiotic and dreaded prednisone again. I already feel better today. My cough is much less. I still can barely talk but last night I even had a fever. No time to get sick right now. Glad I’m feeling better.

I hit my 55 pound mark Wednesday at ww. I received an award and lots of congratulations. I have a million more to lose but worked hard for this first 50...snd to think it all started with giving up soda to get blood sugar down. I just read if you give up one 20 oz soda a day you save 52 pounds of sugar a Year! I could hardly believe it. Had to read it twice.
We are going to a party tomorrow night with homemade hot buttered rum..yum...I might have one instead of my water, actually I know I will.

Mary, I hope a Jim is feeling better. It’s kind of hard with smoking. I guess his choice. Oh, scary with a deer jumping out. I’m very scared of that at night. It’s one reason on road trips we stop before dark..always. Glad you are ok. Whew. I see you got your nails done for the holidays with decoration. Pretty. I’m going to do that next week.

Barb, so sorry you’re still feeling sick. I don’t like prednisone but it always works for me. Be sure and get that flus not when you are able to. That’s funny you don’t want your neighbors to see you. I wouldn’t care at this point ..it can’t be that bad. Are you any better yet?

JL, and how are you doing? I’m about done finally wrapping just things that are still arriving. I ended up ordering a few more clothing items for LOUIS today. He wants no clothes but I have to keep him stylish. He can always return them if he doesn’t want them. We have to go to jewelers on Monday and get either my wedding rings smaller or hopefully a ring guard as they are sliding and I sure don’t want to lose those! I’ll have to refrain myself from looking around.

  15. Dianne, Jim is much better. Thanks for asking.

SacBarb, I got my flu shot late Nove.I like it to be fully active before the Holidays.
Family and friends can carry a lot of germs lol! Get yours soon young Lady!

Justlin, are you ok? Check in!

We got about 4" of snow last night. More coming Monday, hopefully it won't delay our flight!
Tomorrow is packing day. I know what's going, just need to get it together and put in the suitcase. It's a short trip so only taking a carry-on.
Queenie will be going to "Nanna & Paws" to be boarded. Matthew will be house & Zoie sitting.

  16. Dianne, congrats on your WW loss! Good job!!

  17. Dianne, Wow, I am so impressed with your weight loss. I wish I could get in gear and really stay on a program. I seem to do OK for a while then I go completely off the rails! Although, since I've been sick, I haven't been eating much. Dean made some delish turkey soup with the carcass and leftover turkey and brought over a big bowl. I have been eating it every day for four days. It's almost gone. I haven't gotten on the scale, but I feel like I may have lost a couple of lbs. Of course, as soon as I am over this crud, I'll probably gain again.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Mary, I love your holiday mani. I have an appointment on Tuesday. I'm feeling a little better and my cough is getting better. I am hoping to be able feel well enough to go to the AT&T store tomorrow. My cell phone has suddenly stopped working. It's only two years old and I think it should last longer than that. Do they make them to last only as long as your contract? I don't really want to have to pay for a new phone.

  19. J/L, How's things in your world? Are you back to your routine after your trip to SoCal? Are the fires any where near your brother's house? I think Mother Nature is trying to tell California something - like she is very unhappy with us! My son in San Diego is not in danger at this point, but if the fires keep moving at the rate they have been, it could reach his area.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Dianne Thanks for nudging me to get to the nest. I guess I am losing track of time as it didn't seem like it had been as long as it has.

Congratulations on your weight loss! I am soooo jealous! I wish I could lose that amount of weight. I actually gained 6 lbs while I was at my brother's. We were having lots of treats as a kind of celebration that his surgery was over. The last time I checked, I had only lost 1 lb of that gain. I need to get serious about dieting again but it's really hard at this time of year, as you know.

I'm sorry you are sick and hope you are feeling better. Prednisone will make your weight go up but don't get disheartened by that as it is more important that you get well. When you get off the pred, you will get back to normal.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Mary I really like your mani. So pretty!

Are you all packed now? I hope you have a nice, uneventful flight. I'm glad Jim is doing better. It would be a pain in the butt to have a bad cough while in the close quarters of an airplane. Also, not fun for you to share a room with him. I hope you're taking your good luck with you.

In late January, my daughter and I are going to Seattle for a few days and I am looking forward to it. After that, I'll have to figure out some other trip to look forward to.

I'm really lucky that my daughter takes care of my dog while I am away. When we go somewhere together, her ex-boyfriend takes care of our dogs. They still share a house together. Interesting arrangement but it's been working fine for quite a while now. It is really handy for dog sitting purposes, I must say.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Barb Well, that's a real bummer about your phone. I guess that answers the question about why I didn't hear back from you when I sent a text asking about your son's welfare down in San Diego. Those fires are so hideous and scary!

I had to laugh out loud at the image of you sneaking out after dark to get your mail. You don't even have to hardly go outside your enclosed area. No one would even notice. After being gone for 3 weeks, I had a lot of mail to pick up at the post office so I sorted through it right next to their recycle bin.

I hope you are feeling better enough to put up some Xmas decorations. I do find it to be cheerful. I got my new little tree up and I really like it. I have a lit garland across mantle and a few other decorations around. It helps put me in the spirit. I know it's difficult when you feel like crap, though. I just realized that I forgot to hang a wreath on my door. I meant to do that this weekend.

I went to a painting class yesterday and it was very enjoyable for me. I'm working on a scene of a sunset over one of our local beaches. This is based on photos the artist/teacher took. I need to finish it one of these days at home.

  23. Hi.....Glad to see everyone. I guess I’m the blog nudge person. I rather say that then the nag. I was getting concerned J/L as you usually keep up pretty darn good.

JL, glad you put up your Christmas decorations. I like them up too. I listen to a lot of Christmas music after Thanksgiving too but Christmas night ..I’m done. Can’t wait to see a picture of your painting when you are all done. I’ll bet it’s beautiful. So were you glad to get back to normal temps again? California has been so hot. I so wish it would rain there. It’s heartbreaking watching these fires on the news.

Fun you have a trip planned. The only one we have is a weekend in March in Cheyenne, WY, if the weather is ok. We have tickets with another couple to see a music show that I’m really looking forward too. I guess in May we will head down to Kentucky to see Louis’s daughters and then maybe go on to Branson for a few days. We need to go before it gets hot. No cruises next year. What are you going to do in Seattle...just be tourists? There’s so much to see there.

Mary, have a really fun trip and win and shop till you Drop! Any shows planned? You are getting more snow than we’ve had at all and I’m good with it. I hope it waits until Jan to snow. ...let the mountains have it. It was 71 here today. I’m feeling much better. I still have a slight cough and not back to full voice yet. The prednisone helps me a lot.

Barb, glad to hear you’re feeling better. Hope you get out to your nail appt. I need to do that this week too. I need holiday nails. Have you been able to do any decorating yet?

I sure hope the fires calm down and your son will stay safe. Praying for moisture.

Thanks for the compliments on my weight loss. I’m excited but have so much more to loose. We went to a party last night and I was able to wear smaller clothes but when I look at the posted picture, I can hardly tell a difference. Discouraging. I had to take my wedding rings in this weekend to be made smaller so great...I can tell in my fingers!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Forgot to mention the Broncos FINALLY won a game today. We’ve lost eight in a row. I guess we will get a good draft pick next year. We get to go to another party next Saturday night. It’s funny since we are all getting older last night party started at 5 and we were home by 8:30. It’s sure not like the old days. I had my hair done yesterday and will probably do it again next Saturday. It’s just a wash and quick blow dry.

Well, not much more. Had a nice lunch with my deceased husbands daughter. I’m so glad we keep in touch. Hope everyone is feeling good.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Howdy.....Mary, looks like you have beautiful weather and having fun in Vegas. Winning yet? We are still having that nice weather here too. The prediction is for possible snow on the weekend. I sure hope not! Are you getting to any shows while you’re there? Have a fun time.

Barb, how are you feeling? Did you get a new phone? Did you make it for nails? I go Thursday and will be glad to go. I sure hope you’re better today.

JL, been to any movies lately since you’ve been Home? I would like to see the Morgan Freeman one...can’t remember the name of it. It looks funny. I like the Christmas time for movies.

It much new ...had lunch with my daughter. She’s not feelng great. Her lupus is acting up and she’s very achy. Her head still is bothering from falling over two weeks ago and hitting it. She’s getting in with lupus Dr tomorrow and head dr on Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dianne, I did get to my nail appointment today. So I have red nails for the rest of this month. Christmas time is the only time I get red polish instead of my regular French mani. I also got a pedi today and it took all the energy I had to just get ready and go to the appointment. My cough is better, but not gone! And, I did get a new phone on Sunday. I got an iPhone 8.

    ReplyDelete
  27. J/L, Is your son near any of the fires in SoCal? Todd said the air isn't too bad because the winds are blowing the smoke away from their area. You should post a pic of your latest painting. Did you watch the show about the Bachelor last night? I watched it, but it wasn't very interesting imo!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mary, I hope you are winning big. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Barb My son doesn't live in SoCal but my brother does. That's who I was helping out while he recovered from knee surgery. No, he wasn't bothered by smoke. He lives farther south and inland.

My painting isn't done as there is supposed to be a cypress tree in the foreground according to the photo the painting is taken from. I don't think I will be getting the paints out until after the holidays. I'm stressing now about gathering enough stocking stuffer type stuff for 3 teenagers and getting all my baking done so I can get goodies in the mail.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dianne I'm sorry to about Tammy's Lupus acting up. Is there any rhyme or reason for that, like stress for instance, or is it just the way it is?

I haven't seen any movies lately. I did binge watched "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" on Amazon and really enjoyed it. As for theater movies, I would like to see the one with Denzel Washington and the one coming out soon with Matt Damon called "Suburbicon". I'm really not into Christmas movies but I do get a kick out of "A Christmas Story" and try to catch that one every year.

  31. Mary How much have you won so far?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi.....watching the bronco game. We are ahead by one point. It was nails day. Barb, I also got a bright red with sparkles and a snowflake on one finger each hand. It’s the only time I do red too. It’s looks very festive. Recd a few things in the mail so that means more dang wrapping. Will it ever end?

JL. Tammy’s Lupus can flair up any time. She says this is the worse. Yes, it can be triggered by stress or nothing. I think she needs more rest but that’s a mom talking. I haven’t seen anything on the new Matt Damon movie. So you’re getting ready for Christmas. I think teenagers are hard to shop for ...not the girls but the three boys are very hard. I did get a gas gift card for one of the gifts for my grandson. I give money but like them to have something to open and I do stockings too. I almost stopped them a couple of years ago but the kids seemed to still want them. What do you get for them?

Barb, you and Kathy can’t seem to shake those coughs and Kathy was on prednisone too. Hope it gets better. She still sounds stuffy too. I went to eye dr for my eye infection, which is gone and my annual Christmas exam. I have to be sure and get it for my diabetis.

Mary, I think you come home tomorrow to snow. We had a trace last night but more due on weekend. Once again, hope not as we have a busy weekend. I’m glad you had such nice weather in Vegas. How were the slot machines paying this time? Hope good for you both. Be careful driving home from airport tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dianne I see that I said I was waiting for "Suburbicon" to come out. I think that one is already out and I am interested in seeing it but the one I want to see that is coming out after Christmas is "Downsizing". That looks interesting to me.

Now that the grandkids are teenagers, I have resorted to getting them gift cards as their main gift. I still give stocking stuffers as those little things are fun. Again, not so easy to shop for teenagers, even for stocking stuffers. Some silly stuff and some nicer or more practical stuff.

  34. Hi everyone! I should be sleeping! I am exhausted! We had an early flight this morning. We had to get up at 4am to make our 7 am flight. I hate the early flights, but love getting home before dark.
Jim picked up Queenie at "Nana-n-Paws". They told him she was nipped by another dog. They patched her up and gave her a shot. That has never happened before! She seems to be ok, just pooped from all the weeks play time.

SaBarb,In Vegas I held my own the first 2 days then won about $600, so that kept me alive for a while lol! Jim won over $4,000 and gave me a couple :).
We had friends from our town there. We went to see "Alabama". They sure are getting old lol! One of them could barely walk to get his water bottle between songs! They did put on a good show though.

The weather was wonderful! No coats all week! Our friends are staying until next Monday.
Jim almost killed one of the passengers when we landed! This gal , while sitting on an end seat, poked her head around the seat in front of her where her husband was, to ask him something just as Jim was taking down our heavy carry on. She was behind him and the luggage slipped and bonked her on the head! I could see what was about to happen and there was nothing I could do. It happened so fast! If she would have sat up instead of sticking her head out in the isle she would not have been hit. We felt so bad! She had tears in her eyes and a bit in shock. That luggage was at least 30lbs! I told the stewardesses what happened and to check on her. I hope she is ok!

Justlin,I loved Seattle! It will be a nice getaway.
Last night I had a hard time getting to sleep knowing I had to get up early. I finally dropped off. At about 2:30am Jim decided to walk in his sleep and pounced on me (I had my own Queen bed). Scared the bajesus out of me! I screamed! I startled him awake and he kept mumbling how sorry he was and went back to his bed and back to sleep.
My heart was racing and I tried to get back to sleep, no luck! Sooooo, I am pooped!

Laundry is done, need to fold & put away, check email & FB open mail, well, the mail will have to wait until tomorrow lol!
    Later.....

  35. Hi....Mary, it sounds like you had a lot of fun in Vegas. Boy, you guys are so lucky. $4000...lots of $$ and how nice he gives you some too. Do you end up bringing money home? Lol at Jim pouncing on you. I would have been screaming too. I’m getting a visual. Funny. He must have either dreaming romantic or thinking he was in a fight! Does he remember? I think I’d like to see Alabama. Glad you had such nice weather. Our possible snow this weekend looks like it might not happen. I’m glad as we are going to foothills tomorrow night.

JL, sorry to hear about your car mishap today. Was there enough damage that you will need repairs. These parking lots are crazy right now. Scary what happened to Karina today too. I did see the coming attractions to Downsizing. It looks pretty cute. What are your Christmas plans?

Wrapped a few more things today and am caught up. Email said a package was delivered today but I didn’t receive it. It makes me nervous. Tonight I put something in one of the stockings and it was too heavy and the decorations all fell off the mantle. I screamed as it was crashing and Louis came running. I didn’t break anything but made a mess I now have bags by the stockings for each grandchild. We went to have a quick dinner and a return to Kohl’s. I bought the same thing twice!

I’m getting my hair fixed for party tomorrow. She does it for 20 bucks. It’s worth it. That’s about it. Have a good weekend everyone

  36. Hi....we went to our party last night and we were home by 10:00. We went at 5:00 So that was plenty of time. It was fun and food was really good. They had It catered for appetizers and then a finger food meal and delicious desserts. I’m sure I will have a gain this week. i ate some desserts and then some pizza today for Christmas with the kids. I’m stuffed. Both parties were very nice. I think the kids loved their gifts and they gave us a gift certificate to our favorite place to stay in the mountains. Very thoughtful.

We were supposed to get light snow last night but didn’t get any..it’s cold out though. Now they are saying Thursday or Saturday. I hope not as we are back to the mountains on Christmas morning.

How was the weekend for all of you? Hope it was good. Is everyone done shopping and wrapping now? I had to get two more gifts because we can’t find two that I know I wrapped. I ordered them today on Amazon Prime and got something I like in case I have to end up keeping them. Lol.

I found my lost big package..a neighbor with an address one number different than ours found it in her mailbox. It irritates me and I’ve called the post office before regarding the situation. I’ll be calling again tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Dianne I'm glad your package was located. I guess you have a problem with your mail carrier.

I have been baking. Today I made sugar cookies and tonight I frosted them. My back is killing me but it was already bothering me before today's baking. I think what did me in was standing at the stove constantly stirring a batch of boiling sugar mixture for fudge yesterday. I also baked a bunch of peanut butter blossom cookies yesterday. Before that, I made a bunch of chocolate chip cookies and some crackle cookies. The crackle cookies didn't really "crackle" but they taste good so what the hell. Anyway, my freezer is now stuffed with containers full of the cookies and fudge. I plan on getting this stuff in the mail to family members on Tuesday. Hopefully, they will get them before Christmas.

As for gifts, I am still awaiting delivery of one thing for my granddaughter and one thing for my dog walker person. My granddaughter's gift is not a big deal....just a knit cap to put in her stocking. If it doesn't arrive in time, I'll replace it with something else and save the cap for part of her birthday present in January.

It sounds like you've been eating good for the last couple of days. My neighbor across the street brought me some goodies that she baked. I'm not overdoing it as far as sweets go. A few nights ago I made a big pot of soup so I could just have that for easy dinners during these days and nights that I've been baking. That, along with a nice loaf of french bread, has really hit the spot and it was so nice and easy.

  38. Mary Wow! Jim was right about needing to get to Vegas while he had his winning streak going. How fun to win so much! That would never happen to me in a million years but I'm not a high roller. I love gambling but I'm too cheap to leave the penny machines. LOL You certainly didn't do too bad yourself.

That must have been a rude awakening to have Jim sleep walk and pounce on you. It could have been worse.. He could have thought he was in the bathroom and peed on you.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Barb I'm waving a weary wing at you and hoping you are feeling better today. I am up way too early but can't seem to sleep. Plus, it's garbage pick up day and the trucks are noisy. I wish they'd all come closer together instead of spreading it out between garbage pick up, recycling pick up, and organic waste pick up. Just when I'm about to nod off again, here comes another truck. Ugh!

  40. Hi.....LOUIS took me to the Coach outlet store for one of my presents. I found a purse and wallet as soon as I walked in the store. It was pretty crowded. The sales lady said you couldn’t even walk thru the store over the weekend. I bought myself a watch with a leather band. I’ve never had one and it fits but snug so hopefully I’ll grow into it. I just love that store.

JL, I’ve been eating too good. I went to lunch today but had a salmon salad.....very good. I really don’t want a gain this week but....... Yum, sounds like you’ve been really cooking. Glad I’m not there as I love all that stuff. I’d be your sampler. We received a huge basket today from my ex sil and wife all filled with Godiva candy. We recd another gift from my brother and sil the other day of toffee. I love it but afraid to eat it with my teeth. I bought my grandsons those stocking hats with lights and thought they could use them for all their hunting and fishing they do. I thought they might not like them. They seemed to like all their gifts and money at our Christmas yesterday. Your soup sounds good. Maybe I will do that too. We m up early every day now too. If I sleep until 8 I’m excited. Long day that early.

I’m called the post office and complained again today. Who knows if they even talk to driver.

Barb, how are you feeling? Do hope you’re feeling much better. Have you been able to get out some? I think you’re having good weather. We were up to 62 today but going to be high of 13 on Christmas starting on Thursday. We need to go see the lights tomorrow night as it’s outside in a garden. I already purchased tickets. I don’t want to freeze later on in the week.

Mary, all rested up from Vegas? I think you’re having really cold snowy weather. Well, maybe my nice weather will get there before we send our freezing temps. Oh gosh, it’s a good thing Jim didn’t think your bed was the bathroom. JL, is thinking ahead. Better be careful. Do you have a lock on your door?

  41. Dianne, I was feeling better for a day, but I got sick again. I have been nauseous and a little dizzy and I still have a cough. I have only been out once since Thanksgiving and that was to get my nails done. It was the one day I felt better. Yesterday and today I have been able to eat a little soup broth. Dean and his wife brought me some 7-UP and Saltines on Saturday. I put a drop of ginger essential oil in the 7-UP and it settled my stomach a little.

  42. J/L, I really LOL'd when I read your comment to Mary about Jim not peeing on her. I knew it was your brother you were helping, I don't know why I wrote your son. You have been very busy baking all those goodies. I have not even finished shopping and I haven't written my cards, wither. I won't be getting gifts in the mail on time, so they will all be late. I didn't even feel well enough to order stuff online. I am going to try to write my cardsjavascript:void(0) tonight and hopefully finish them.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mary, You sure are lucky in Vegas. Once I lose $100, I am done and that doesn't usually take very long. I applaud you for doing your laundry so quickly after you get home from a trip. I don't usually even unpack for a couple of days, because traveling wears me out and it takes that to recover.

  44. Hi...nice day..had a Christmas lunch with a very close friend and tonight Louis and I went to see lights at gardens. They were beautiful. We shared a hot chocolate, went to get something for dinner and to jewelers to pick up my wedding rings. I had them sized down as they were very loose.

Barb, I’m like you coming home from a trip. I never unpack right away. Louis is really good about doing his though. I’m so sorry you’re still feeling so bad. It’s such a hard time time to be sick. Do you think you need to go back or call the dr? This has been hanging on for a long time. You don’t have to cook for Christmas, right? I’m sure everyone will understand about gifts being late. Maybe you could send your cards for New Years.....again, if you’re sick you’re sick. Too hard to get motivated.

Well, tomorrow is weigh in day. It won’t be pretty at all! Yuck

  45. Barb I sure hope you're feeling better today. Have you contacted your doctor about your upset stomach? I'm worried that you may be getting dehydrated at this point.

I got some packages in the mail yesterday. To my surprise, the post office wasn't very busy when I arrived. I only had to wait behind one person. I had one large package going to my brother and one extra large package going to my son's house. That one was especially heavy so I had to take two trips into the post office as I could only carry one package at a time. My back and neck were already really hurting. Too much time on my feet baking cookies and frosting cookies. I had made 5 different kinds of cookies plus a batch of fudge. I'm so glad that I'm all done with that. Now I can relax.

  46. Dianne Last night I went out to dinner with my friend, John and Jane. It's a pretty regular thing for us on Tuesday nights. Anyway, we went into San Francisco to go to a little restaurant they had accidentally found one day when one of them had a doctor appointment nearby. Much to our dismay, we got there only to find out they are closed on Tuesdays. Jane then noticed a little Italian restaurant on the corner so we went in there. It was a very nice little place. Their soups and pastas were all fresh homemade. It was a nice little find and we will be back again.

You should be very proud of yourself for your weight loss. Good job! I hope to get serious again after Christmas.

  47. Mary Where are you? Are you ready for Christmas?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yuck. Yuck, yuck...I gained three darn pounds this week. I knew I was going to have a gain but I had hoped I’d stayed the same. I’ve lost 12 pounds in last two weeks so didn’t want a gain. I’ve been going to parties too much. Disappointed but there is next week.

JL, if I baked all that you did. I would have gained 20 pounds! i can’t resist sweets. Did you mail some of them out? I love the frosted cookies. It sounds like you found a good restaurant by accident. It’s fun that you meet your friends every week. I like to do that too.

Barb, checking on you..... how are you Feeling?

    Mary.... busy doing what?

  49. J/L, I am feeling better today. I was worried about getting dehydrated, too, and have forcing myself to drink the 7-UP. I even put some ginger essential oil in it to help my tummy and it did help, plus it make the 7-UP taste better. Last night I got all the envelopes done for my cards. Tonight I am working on signing and hopefully I can mail them tomorrow. I can put them in the drive-up box.

How nice that you have a regular night out to dinner with your friends. I wish I had someone to do that with. I hardly see Sharon any more since she moved to Roseville. She used to live 10 minutes away, now she is 30-40 minutes away and the traffic is horrific. Since she lives so much closer to her significant other, he keeps her very occupied. One of the Jennifers is planning to retire next December, so we are planning to spend more time together doing crafty things. I just hope she doesn't change her mind. Her boss is trying to talk her into working longer.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Dianne, Even with your little gain, you are doing so well on the WW program. I lost 5 lbs. with this whatever it is I have, but I already gained it back eating soup the last two days. I knew it wouldn't be a permanent loss.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Barb, so glad you’re feeling better. I wish I lived closer to you...I’d hang out with u every week for lunch or dinner. You will probably drop that five pounds again as sick as you’ve been these last couple of weeks. Tough way to do it. Thank you for saying I’m doing well. I really like the new program they introduced two weeks ago. Sounds like those cards are just about ready!

Looks like I’m going to have to go find Mary again.

JL, I had grilled shrimp for lunch and salad. It was actually pretty good. I picked up the grilled nuggets from chic Fil a. I haven’t tried them yet but they are supposed to be pretty good. I never go there so I had to study the menu. I wanted fries but took the boring salad....now I want some of those cookies you made for dessert. Guess I’ll have popsicle. Maybe I should start baking again. I even won a ribbon for my cookies in 4-h when I was young!

  52. Here I am! Yes, I have been very busy! Yesterday I drove all over Michigan delivering gifts. I don't know how Santa does it lol! I went about 55 miles north for delivery, then 60 miles south, then home to pick up more gifts and on to my sister Lena's home, way the other side of Grand Rapids near Lake Michigan. The traffic was terrible!
We usually have Christ,as at my Niece Raquel's even further away, but she is close to her delivery date and is way too stressed out to hold a dinner. In her words " I want her out now!" lol! She has always been very high strung!

I am having dinner here Christmas Eve for my immediate family. I invited Karina and her hubby. They said they would come depending on the weather. It can get nasty fast here in Mich., so we are watching the weather. They are about 2 1/2 hrs from me.

I had my hair done today and finished my shopping. Jim is all wound up still not knowing what to get me! I told him that after over 40 yrs, he should know me! Tomorrow he wants me to go with him and pick out what I want! Men!!
He had no trouble ordering a $19,000 John Deer tractor with a plow and front end loader! I told him to just tell everyone, that he got it for me lol! I really don't need anything!

Well I have got to get to bed.
Sorry I didn't comment to each of you personally I did get a giggle out of Justlin's comment about "Jim peeing on me" LOL!! I would tie him to his bed if he did that!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Mary I used to like jewelry as presents as it's not something I would buy for myself. Maybe Jim could get you some nice earrings or necklace. A trip would be nice if you could get him to go on a cruise with you. He probably doesn't want to do that as smoking is very limited on ships. You deserve something as good as a John Deere tractor.

You must be worn out from all that driving today. I'm glad all I had to do was get packages to the post office which is only 10 minutes away.

That would be nice if Karina and Steve can join you for Christmas Eve. It's very thoughtful of you to invite them. What's going to be on the menu?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Dianne I think your lunch of grilled shrimp and salad sounds very tasty. For some reason, I got a craving for potato soup so I made myself some tonight just like Mom used to make. It's a comfort thing for me. Not exactly a diet food, though.

What kind of cookies did you make that won you a prize? I don't bake very often any more except for the occasional brownies. Christmas time is when I get into it and I find it to be tiring and my body doesn't like it. My neck and lower back are still bothering me from all the Christmas baking. My mother used to be the one to do all this stuff and she'd bring all the cookies and fudge with her when she and my brother would drive up to spend the holiday with us. I now really appreciate how much work it was. My two favorite things that I looked forward to were fudge and the Spritz cookies.

  55. Barb I'm so glad you are starting to feel better. What lousy timing to get so sick at this time of year. Did you feel up to getting your cards in the mail today? Don't push it. Have you had Safeway do any more deliveries for you? Dean doesn't live too far from you, does he?

That reminds me....Maybe you and Sharon could meet somewhere half way between your two houses and get together for the occasional lunch or dinner. Are you two still involved in ushering?

Yesterday I got off my butt and cleaned house. It seemed like the thing to do now that the baking was done and I could get things straightened out around here. One of these days, I would like to work on my painting again but I keep getting sidetracked with other stuff.

They are giving us a freeze warning for tonight. My daughter is in Boston right now and she posted some pics on FB. She looks like she's dressed for the frozen tundra. LOL

  56. JL, it’s 6 here tonight. Snowed about 2” during the night. The highways were dry this afteroon. My niece and Wendy (Andy’s wife) both crashed their cars this morning. They are fine but cars may be totaled. Wendy lives in foothills and road was not yet plowed. Snow plow guy came by and said it should have been but they were short handed. They both drive SUVS too. It was icy this morning. I even wore boots and coat . I absolutely hate to wear a coat but I didn’t want to fall and it was 19 out

I can’t remember what kind of winning cookies I made all those years ago. ..lol. No one in my family believes me. They think if I can’t cook it in a crockpot then I can’t do it...they all forget all the holiday meals I made when my parents were alive. I swear at my funeral my cooking abilities (or lack of) will be talked about by them all. Speaking of crockpots, I make a pretty good potato soup using frozen hash browns. I’ll have to make that after we get through these holidays...it sounds good. I’ve been hungry for chili so that’s on my list too although we are going to nursing home Sunday for my brothers bday and my SIL is bring chili and I’m bringing snacks.

Mary, glad to see my “gentle reminder” found you. Well, when you were driving everywhere you should have run by here. I hope karina and family can join you for Christmas. You’re very thoughtful. What do you usually pick out for your present from Jim? LOUIS likes a little list so I try and think if some things otherwise he also doesn’t really know what to get me. I’m like JL, I like jewelry. We did a Coach purse this year too. I’m very happy with it alone.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Dianne I didn't know your brother was in a nursing home. How is he doing?

I'm glad your niece and Wendy were not hurt. I would really hate to have to drive in snow. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it.

  58. JL, Bruce is in a rehab/nursing home since Feb. He’s not doing great. He can’t walk or hardly stand. He kept falling down at home and finally went to hospital and from there to rehab. He does have therapy but can only recently stand with walker for five minutes. They are going to start him on trying to move with parrallel bars. It’s sad as he will be only 68 in a couple of days. He and all of us have hope that someday he’ll be able to walk but who knows. He’s diabetic (which is now under control) and just simply can’t move. It’s very hard for my SIL especially and the two kids. They are grown. Sheila (my SIL) is only 61 and is a teacher but is there every day. The diabetis almost caused him to lose a foot a month ago but seems to be healing. Thank you for asking.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dianne I'm truly sorry about Bruce's troubles. I knew about the diabetes but didn't know he was still having such trouble with mobility now that he has been diagnosed and receiving treatment. Are the mobility issues entirely diabetes related? He's been there a long time. I imagine it's hard for him to keep his spirits up. I hope he gets better. It sounds like he is taking the first steps in that direction. I'm wishing him well.

    ReplyDelete
  60. JL, I don’t think personally that the mobility issues are all from diabetes. He sat in that recliner at home for over a year only using the walker for bathroom and he could barely move then. He needed to go to dr but wouldn’t leave house. I think his muscles just atrophied in my opinion. He’s very depressed as anyone would be there. Thanks for the good wishes....I really appreciate it.

It’s 2 degrees tonight and snowing lightly. Supposed to stop during the night in town. I got my car washed today as I was very nice out. I’m not moving it the rest of the weekend so it will stay clean. It was filthy from last snow. I think we are all wrapped and finally ready for a Christmas. We’ve separated the gifts by family and ready to load the car each day. I can’t believe the holiday is here already...it seems like it was just Halloween

I took my friend to lunch for late bday for her. We stayed home for dinner and got hot dogs at Sonic. It’s too cold to go out and LOUIS wanted to watch football. That’s my day...and yours?

  62. Dianne Good morning! I'm up earlier than I want to be but not as early as you. I woke up around 6:00 and then tossed and turned for another hour and a half. I finally decided to give up and make myself some coffee, let the dog out, and feed the dog. I've taken my morning meds and the only thing left to do of my morning rituals is to put out birdseed for the birds and peanuts for the squirrels. The crows aren't out in the trees waiting to steal peanuts, yet. I also get jays coming for the peanuts. The squirrels are lucky they end up with any at all.
