Carnation Milk Ad

by Dianne

This is PRICELESS .............

A little old lady from Wisconsin had worked in and around her family dairy farms since she was old enough to walk, with hours of hard work and little compensation.

When canned Carnation Milk became available in grocery stores in the 1940s, she read an advertisement offering $5,000 for the best slogan.

The producers wanted a rhyme beginning With 'Carnation Milk is best of all.
'

She thought to herself, I know everything there is to know about milk and dairy farms. I can do this! She sent in her entry, and several weeks later, a black car pulled up in front of her house.

A large man got out, knocked on her door and said, "Ma'am,.....The president of Carnation milk absolutely LOVED your entry.....So much, in fact, that we are here to award you $1,000 even though we will not be able to use it for our advertisements!"

He did, however, have one printed up to hang on his office wall.

  1. Hi...,,,,mary, I was very surprised to get your early morning call. Kind of scared me and then saw your name and to hear you say, “I was just curious, should I call before I come in”! I didn’t know you were coming to visit me and I was still in bed. When you called back , you were totally cutting out so couldn’t hear anything except dog groomer. Lol. I needed to wake up anyway. It was just a surprise. Did you and Matt get a space made for generator? When does it arrive? I get hair done...highlights....tmrw. She needs to give me a style. With wearing a mask it looks like I have Dumbo years! It looks horrible. I did a piCture yesterday but won’t post it because of how bad I look. How’s Jim doing?

JL, yes, I’m ok with going into a restaurant. It’s always just two of us although, we are taking a girl to lunch for her retirement Sunday. There will be four of us and barb and I had to think on that amount of people. We will eat outside. The retirement girl wanted to invite a few more. I had to try and explain to her that first, there wasn’t a table for that many and that only five were allowed to sit at a table. She then wanted us to go to her house. Barb won’t even come in my house. Barb said just go without her. I didn’t feel that was right so I had to just make some decisions. Four of us, including barb, are going Sunday. I thought it was kind of of pushy for the retirement gal to include others when we are taking her. That was my stress this week. Glad your coffee shop is still open.

Barb, I had my mammogram today. I had to sit a couple of times with my back. The girl doing the mammo has the same back issues as I do. She’s tall and has gone through everything I’ve gone through including shots, med, etc. nothing has worked for her...not too encouraging. She was young too. She also doesn’t want surgery. I felt bad for her that she has to stand with her job. Btw, how are you next door renters doing? Haven’t heard anything from you about them in quite awhile. So...this week I had a Dermo appt, bone density and mammo, gram. BUsy week . Starting next thurs I have to quarantine for seven days before my shot.

Seaside....what r you up too? Behaving at home with Gidget?

  3. Dianne, How did your lunch go on Sunday? I agree that it was nervy of the woman to ask about inviting other people when she was the one being treated. I would have been uncomfortable with additional people joining. We still have not gone to a restaurant. When we have ordered out, Chad goes to pick it up. So far we have only gotten pizza, KFC, and tacos at a favorite Mexican restaurant. I have been craving Chinese food so I’m going to suggest we get that tonight.
About the neighbors, I don’t remember if I mentioned that one of the women from next door was taken by ambulance and Chad overheard that she didn’t make it. At first they thought she had COVID-19, but later he heard it was a heart attack. Luckily, we never have close contact with them. I still don’t know what’s going on with the house. I know they are living there for free, but they don’t seem to be doing any more renovation, so I don’t know if the owner just gave them the house or what. He was going to sell it, but it’s been three years, so it appears they are there for the duration! 😫

JL, We have had some really hot days lately. My Seattle guy is NOT happy and my a/c bill for this last month is $344.33. So now, we are both unhappy! But, I AM glad he is here with me. I really don’t know how well I would handle this quarantine if I was alone.
Yesterday Chad finally was able to get Disney+ on the new TV and I was able to watch Hamilton. He used Arch’s info to get it, but there were some problems. It stopped a few times while we were watching, but Chad was able to get it started each time. So, it took about three hours to watch the two-plus hour movie, but I did enjoy it anyway. After that we watched two Austin Powers movies. It’s been years since I saw them, and they were still funny. Sometimes, I find the humor doesn’t hold up in old movies and I wonder why I ever thought them funny. We watched The Spy Who Shagged Me and Gold Member, which had a lot if cameos. I had forgotten how many stars had bit parts. I didn’t go to bed until 2am.

Mary, Has the generator been installed yet? If you lose power, does it kick in automatically or do you have to turn it on. I have always been curious about how they work. We lose power occasionally, but not often enough to spend that much money for a generator. It’s been a few years since it has happened. I hope that statement doesn’t jinx it, now! LOL
I hope Jim is doing better. I know you are worried about him. My husband quit smoking several times and it never stuck. It’s apparently harder for some than others. I smoked for about 20 years, but not heavily. When I decided to quit, I didn’t find it difficult at all. I wish it was that easy with dieting!

Seaside, I hope you and Gidget are doing well. Miss you.

  4. Dianne, We have not been to a restaurant. The only time I have eaten out was after attending the burial of a dear friends ashes. We were in a private dinning room.

We did manage to clear a spot for the generator. It will be installed next Tues. and hooked up very early Wed. It will take about 4 hrs to set the unit up to work. Sure hope we have a cool morning!
I had my roots done today. We are still getting "prettied" at the same time lol!

Barb, Some generators have to be "flipped" on when needed. We paid extra to have an auto switch added.
I am so fortunate to have my son here. He & I have taken over a lot of Jim's chores/duties.
Yesterday morning Jim was out in the garage resting after feeding Queenie. He says he got up too fast and almost passed out. He fell and hit the right side of his head o0n the cement. His aneurysm is on the left side! He tried to hide it from me until his goose egg appeared! He had to take his hat off and knew I would see it! It had been at least 4 hrs! I immediately put ice on it. Two hrs later he headed to the VFW! He came home and was confused about the sofa I had dragged in. It had been airing out side and in the garage for a couple of days. I exchanged it to the longer one in the basement because it was longer and Jim wanted to lay down & watch tv once in a while. He forgot!
Today he went to the Casino with his friend! He looks so tired :(
I am terrified he will go to sleep and not wake up!!
His father died at an early age when Jim was 17 months old. He had fallen and hit his head while hunting. He seemed fine. Two days later he died from busted blood clot in his brain, leaving 7 children, One only a few months old.

Well, I have rambled on again.
    Stay safe!

  5. BTW Dianne, I loved the blog!! LMAO!!

  6. Dianne Thanks for the blog. I think they should come out with that ad campaign. It would probably boost their sales.

Our governor has stopped all in-restaurant dining (as well as restrictions on some other things) because our virus numbers are on the rise. In my county, we are still doing pretty well so I do believe the nail salons and hair salons are still able to operate here. I'm not ready to do that for myself, though. I still have a section of acrylic nail on my left thumb. It kind of looks like a smear of gum on it. LOL Once it finally peels off, I am going to try to wait until my nails have grown out more before I go back to the nail salon. When the acrylics peeled off, they took a layer of nail with them so I want that part to grow out before I have acrylics on them again.

Speaking of growing out.....If I wait much longer to see about cutting my hair, their won't be any dyed sections left on it. I just might do that to see how I look as a white haired lady. Probably really old, LOL.

I was leading a pretty boring life before this pandemic hit, and I'm even more boring now.

  7. Mary I'm sorry that Jim isn't doing too well lately. That fall is scary. How stubborn of him to put off having you know about it. I'm really glad you have your son there to help you out when you need it. My neighbor from across the street came over the other day to change the bulbs in recessed lights in the kitchen. One had gone out but since I had put them all in at the same time, I replaced all of them so I wouldn't have to deal with them for a long time. Normally I would have gotten on a ladder and replaced them myself like I've done before, but I didn't feel comfortable getting on a ladder when my left shoulder and arm are hurt and compromised. I like to have a firm grip on the ladder wen I'm on it.

I don't have a garden so when I want fresh herbs I have to purchase them. Several days ago, I made Giada De Laurentiis' Simple Bolognese Recipe. I even put in fresh Italian parsley and basil as it called for. I gave a couple of servings to Jane, along with uncooked penne pasta and some Pecorino Romano grated cheese to put on top. That's been the most interesting cooking that I've done lately.

I'm keeping up with my PT. How about you?

  8. Barb I'm very jealous that you saw Hamilton on Disney+. I adored it on stage and would love to see it on the screen. I'm not interested in Disney+, though. I do have Netflix and Hulu by using other people's passwords. I just signed up for Acorn, mostly because I was interested in seeing more episodes of several shows I'd been able to get started on via other streaming services. The more current episodes were only available through Acorn, however. The shows they have are British, Australian, Welsh, Irish. Maybe more countries, too.

I can sympathize with Chad's suffering through the hot weather. That's how I feel when I go to SoCal to see my brother. My son is talking about moving to the Lexington area of Kentucky because things are so expensive in California. I don't know if you recall but he is on permanent disability because his asthma is so bad. He's in Merced and the electric bill alone was $400. His income does not increase at the same rate as rents, food, etc. His son wants to move with him but his daughter would stay with her mom. Plus, she seems to be in a pretty serious relationship with her boyfriend. It makes me sad to think of my son moving so far away but he needs to do what is best for him in the long run. He's not getting any younger.

  9. Hi....well. Our state went mandatory masks today...finally! I’m glad. Most of the stores were starting to do it too. They were making the announcement in the store and there were a family of four with no masks! Hopefully they won’t let them in the store starting tmrw. Barb, our lunch went fine Sunday except that it was 98 out and was miserable. Rhonda brought us fans but that didn’t help. no, I didn’t know about your neighbor dying. So, the roof never got finished? Crazy. I’m kind of worried about my electric bill this month as it’s been really hot. We finally had two days in the 80’s yesterday and today with rain showers. Back to high 90’s tmrw. Did you get your chinese food the other day?

Mary, guess your generator is in and all hooked up now, right? That will be so nice to have it when that power goes off. Why does it go off so often? Louis and I took my 90 year old friend and her daughter to lunch for her bday the other day. She’s not driving much now but otherwise is doing really good. I hope I’m like her at 90. I’m ok going to a restaurant. I think they are really doing a good job to be able to continue to stay open. How’s Jim feeling? That’s really sad about his dad dying so young. What a hard life for his mom with seven children. Did she ever marry again?

JL, well you are braver than me to go without nails and let your hair go. I’ve had acrylics for years. I Just hope our salons will stay open and that no one will be exposed. I still haven’t made my cake but I probably will while I’m home for the next seven days. I still have my pan sitting out. I’m doing crockpot again tmrw. My friend did frozen ravioli and frozen meatballs and speg sauce. She said it turned out really good. We will see. Now I’m watching the news and listening to some towns that will not stick to mask order. Oh well..enough about that..just irritates me. I go for my shots on the 23Rd. Got a-ok on mammo and bone density from last week. My life is boring too. I think most people are having boring lives. I wonder if we’ll ever go to a movie Or concert again. I’m not optimistic. I’m pretty sure we are going to cancel our sept trip to Kentucky. We are learning so many Rest stops are closed plus McDonald’s, etc., and that’s a big issue for us. I’m just not comfortable going and there’s nothing to do when we get there I know it will feel bad for Louis to not see his daughter now but he agrees that we shouldn’t go right now. We were hoping things would be different by sept.

Well..I’ve been rambling as usual. I wish we could contact seaside and tell her we’re missing her. Barb, could you let her know? Ok, see ya’ all later!

  10. Dianne, The generator goes in next Tues. We lose power mostly due to the weather. We don't have underground wires like in town. Trees tend to grow over wires and with the wind and rain, they bend and break. During bad winter weather cars slide and hit poles and can knock out power for miles. The ice on the wires gets heavy and wires snap, sooo, you see there is not just one reason lol!

Jim seems to be doing ok. The dark bruising is now completely circling his eye. Looks like I beat the hell out of him! I wanted to lol, when he drove to the Casino yesterday! At times he seems to have a fuzzy memory. A lot of little things, that only I notice. Mostly short term stuff. This has been going on for a few months, but has gotten worse lately. He has an appt with his primary Dr and his Cardiologist next week. Not sure what to think.

JustLin, stay off of them ladders! I am glad you were able to get help.

My sister in law has been gone about 5 months. She was a hard worker and took care of the finances. He hubby tended to be a bit frivolous, so she took care of all money matters. She was about 12 years older then him. She told me that she knew he may out live her, so wanted to make sure he was not left in debt. She had good life ins through work and others assets thanks to her careful planning. Her hubby never had a long lasting job, but did work off and on. They had a beautiful home and cottage. They both used to drink terribly and both quit a few years ago. He was always critical of her, but we can't deny he took good care of her.
Any way, he is doing great financially and drawing from her pension and ss. Long story short, he put on FB that he bought a "new ride". A convertible corvette. Are we wrong to feel uncomfortable about this? He (Ken) asked Jim if he wanted to go on a ride with him. Jim made some excuse about not feeling well, and declined. He later told me how sad it made him feel. Shoot, Ken is way over weight. I have no idea how he gets in and out of the car. Oh well. We just wish he would have waited a bit longer, and certainly not put it out on FB!
    What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Where are you Seaside and Barb??

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi....mary, i don’t think you’re wrong to feel sad that Ken bought such an expensive car. How old is he? I’m not asking because of the car but wondering how long he needs to live off the pension and ss. I don’t know how he gets in or out if he’s heavy and they r so low to the ground. Do they have children? I’m thinking they don’t ...Glad Jim goes to drs next week. I’m seeing some short term memory with Louis too. His mom died of Alzheimer’s so it makes me nervous. Is it ok for him to be driving to the casino by himself? Does Matt ever go with him?

Im having some tummy issues tonight. I’ve slept most of the day off and on today as nothing else to do. Nurse called about my shots and said I could get out some this week before my shots. She said just to wear mask and be careful. Good..I’m not trapped for seven days. That’s about it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Dianne, Ken is about 75. I was thinking he was younger. I believe Shirley was a bit over 80. He and Shirley didn't have kids together. She had 4 from previous marriage and he had 3, girls, two of which are not speaking to him.

Jim had another dizzy spell last night. He fell hard on the living room floor! He had just gone out to smoke when he felt a dizzy spell coming on. He rushed to come and sit down when he fell, about two feet from his chair. I asked him why he didn't just sit down in his patio chair. It was a lot closer! He said he became disoriented.
He usually only drives down to the VFW. His friend takes him to the Casino. He had already been there once this week. His friend was busy and couldn't drive him. Neither Matthew & I like to stay as long as Jim does and we sure don't want to spend money or just sit for hours waiting for him! Matthew has not been out of our property in months! He sure doesn't want to catch the virus if he has to drive children to school in the bus.
I have been walking both dogs, so getting a lot of outdoor exercise time! So between that, cooking, cleaning, laundry, buying groceries, housekeeping, Dr appts etc, I keep pretty busy!
I hope your tummy feels better soon!

  14. I almost forgot to ask. Are any of you getting notified by email when someone posts here? Somehow I have been getting them.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mary, I’m not getting notified on postings. I wonder how you arranged that without knowing? Damn, Jim needs to not drive until they find out what’s causing these dizzy spells. What happened if he gets one at the casino? He needs to stick around home until you get this all figured out. It’s too scary. I’m sorry this is going on and worrying you too. I wish it would scare him enough to not smoke....at least see if that makes a difference. Sigh....Probably won’t happen, right? My tummy is much better today. Last night was not too fun. I met my friend Barb back in the parking lot at the mall again. She’s going out of town to visit her daughter next week and doesn’t want to go to any places this week before she goes. It was ok with me to not sit out in 98 degree weather eating today. We sat in our cars. I stopped on way home at Sonic and picked up three foot long chili dogs for our dinner.

JL, well, I got the pineapple out today and now it’s the wrong kind. I need crushed and I have chunks! You had previously asked what I eat when I get or fix something for Louis. If I go to lunch, I try to have a decent lunch and then skip dinner. I’m not really hungry for dinner. I know not best easy to do things but I can’t see eating if I’m not hungry.

    Barb and seaside....what’s up?

  16. JL....Just ordered my Christmas cards. There was a special

  17. Dianne, When I read your comment I was picturing you carrying hot dogs that were three feet long, until I realized you must have meant foot long hot dogs and three of them! So it made me chuckle.
We did get Chinese food. Chad went to pick it up and we had leftovers the next day. The portions are pretty big. Then Chad made lemon chicken last night, using chicken thighs we had in the freezer. They had a sale on them a couple weeks ago and he bought two packages, so we have enough for today, too. We both love lemon chicken. He went to Boudine’s bakery and got fresh sourdough bread and made garlic toast. It was yummy.
The roof on the house next door is finished, now they are painting the house. There’s a house across the street, close to the dead end, that just went up for sale. A bunch of crackheads live there and the guy that owned it, Ross, died about six months ago. Ross’ parents have been trying to get the others out of the house without any luck. They were going to fix it up, (it’s a mess) and keep it for a rental. But, now they are just going to sell it. There are 3-4 people still living there and I guess they won’t leave until it’s sold. I don’t know how they are going to be able to show it with them there. The parents live next door. They just put it on the Zillow website for $270,000, as is! It’s a good deal for someone who can do the work themself and flip it or even live in it. Another one just like it, only in good shape, just sold for $389,000. Asking was $400,000, but the buyers negotiated it down.

  18. Mary, Do you go to the doctor with Jim? You should be sure to mention about him falling when he goes. And also about his memory. My BIL was diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s and he is taking a drug that slows the advancement of it.
It will be so nice to have that generator, especially with the automatic switch-over so you won’t have to mess with that! Although, I’m sure you would rather not lose power at all.

    ReplyDelete
  19. JL, I have not had my hair or nails done, either. I am worried about going too, because I am in a high risk category and so is Chad. He is very careful when he goes to the store, not only for himself, but he doesn’t want to bring the virus home to me. My gray has grown out about two inches, and although it’s not completely gray or white, I feel it does make me look older. I still have a lot of brown in the back. I’m thinking I don’t want to go au natural. All the silk is off my nails and they are so thin, they are almost like razors. Sheenah told me to keep clear nail polish on them, because they keep breaking. It really hasn’t helped much. They’re pretty much down to the cuticle!
Chad used Arch’s Disney+ login, but I had checked on it and it is only 6.99 per month. That’s not too bad. I really enjoyed the show and would watch it again. Also, before I knew Arch had it, I was going to order it for just one month and then delete it, because I didn’t think there was much else on Disney + that I would watch. I was willing to pay $6.99 for Hamilton.

  20. Barb, just got electric bill for the month ..$298. It was $158 last month. Dang! I knew it would be more but wasn’t expecting that much. Expensive few days...$725 for car 40000 mi check up and front brakes and now this! Well, we talked to Louis’s daughters tonight and for sure canceled our sept trip. A friend of mine is going with her mom to Vegas for a week the first of the month. She loved shows but none playing. I guess some of the hotels are closed too. They will, gamble, eat and go to pool. It doesn’t sound very fun to me plus going on a plane. They want to get away. Her mom is 69.. my other friend is retired and moving to Phoenix. They drove down over the weekend and stopped at a Hilton in az and it had Covid so moved them to another hotel. Boy, that scared me enough to cancel our trip. Lol at you picturing me carrying that big old hot dog! It is so darn hot here. They were talking about a cold front tonight for tmrw.....85. I guess grocery store has Halloween candy in already! Ok...off to bed ..

  21. Dianne I hate it when I'm all ready to make something and then discover at the last minute that I don't have the right ingredients, after all. Will you go out just to get the crushed pineapple? I used to be willing to run (drive) to the store for one item but not any more. I'm always waiting in line at the grocery store for what seems like a very long time. It seems extra long because of breathing with a mask on. I'm surprised it took so long for your state to require masks.

That was an expensive maintenance bill for your car. Did you have to get new tires or something? I'm sorry you had to cancel your September trip but I think you are wise to do so. My daughter is going to drive down here from Eugene in late September and while here she will leave her dogs with me and fly to Texas to visit a girlfriend. Here's hoping her friend has been very good about not taking chances with the virus. I don't need my daughter bringing anything home to me. My daughter actually has an underlying health issue that makes her higher risk, too.

By the way, I also read your comment as you buying 3-foot long hot dogs. LOL You'd have to lay them across the back seat of the car to get them home.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mary I don't get email or any other type of notifications for postings on this blog. The only email notifications I get are for comments made on Facebook or about a message on Messenger.

These falls of Jim's are really getting scary. You must be so worried about him. I would be extremely worried about him driving at all. I'm glad he has doctor appointments this week and I hope you are able to go in with him. He probably isn't telling his docs the whole story.

As for Ken, I think he's just trying to fill a void by getting the new car. It gives him something to focus on besides being home alone. I think it's his way of grieving or maybe even avoiding grieving. Maybe that car is always something he wanted and he figures he may as well get it while he's still able to drive it. When my husband died in '07, my Prius was 2 years old. I didn't buy a new car but I did use some of the life insurance money to pay it off so I wouldn't have to worry about car payments. I still drive that car.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Barb I totally get what you mean about your nails being like razors. After having acrylics for years, I forgot how thin my nails are and how sharp. My nails are almost down to the quick but are still pealing and chipping. It's so annoying. I guess I don't care too much about how they look since I'm not going anywhere anyway.

Actually, I am going to go to my friend Kathy's house tomorrow for dinner. She and her husband have been really good about sheltering at home and not socializing with others. She loves to cook but this time I'm going to pick up 3 shrimp fajita plates at a local Mexican restaurant to take to Kathy's. They are delicious and none of us have had Mexican food for a while. She'll provide dessert. And probably Bloody Marys. Yum!

That's a good idea about ordering Disney+ then cancelling after watching Hamilton. I wonder if there's a minimum subscription requiring 3 or 6 months before cancelling. I'll have to check into it. I've added Acorn TV which is also $5.99/mo. I'm getting a lot out of that as I am watching a lot of stuff on it.

  24. Seaside I hope we haven't lost you.

  25. Dianne, I think it is smart to cancel your trip. I know you get cabin fever, but that’s better than taking a chance on getting sick. I really want to go to San Diego because Todd is only working part time while on this contract until October and we would have a lot of time together, but I don’t want to chance it. Especially because I would have to fly. Would it be possible for Louis’ daughter to come to visit you?

JL, Today is Taco Tuesday and Chad picked up tacos for our dinner. We have a favorite Mexican place and the tacos are $2.00 on Tuesday.
Chad’s car has been parked in front of our house since he moved back and he’s only used it about six times, because he likes my car better. Plus, my car is newer and runs better. Anyway, yesterday, my neighbor Jim, sent me a text with a pic of Chad’s car tire that had a dead rat on it. I’m guessing one of the neighbors on the other side put it there! It’s kinda creepy, but we see rats occasionally because of the river. That’s why I have a pest control company spray my yard and outside of my house every two months. They will also spray inside if there’s a need. I haven’t had them do anything inside since I’ve had the cats.

I got ambitious yesterday and made real Toll House cookies. Chad made a pkg. of the frozen ones a couple weeks ago and they were good, but the package doesn’t make that many and they aren’t cheap. We had all the ingredients except the chocolate chips, so I put that on the list when he went grocery shopping. The recipe made 5 dozen. So, we have cookies for weeks!

Mary, I know you’re busy this week. Doesn’t Jim have doctors appointments? And your generator is finally getting installed? Let us know how all that goes.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Barb I have everything I need to make chocolate chip cookies but I'm being lazy and just bought the Toll House cookie refrigerator ones. It works well for me because I can bake a few at a time. I returned a short time ago from grocery shopping. Geez, it's become such a chore now. Not only is shopping more time consuming now but it takes longer to put stuff away since I'm buying for more days than usual. Also, because of my bad shoulder I can only carry one light bag on that side so it takes more trips from car to house to get everything inside. I'm exhausted.

As for the rat on Chad's tire....It's possible that it ate rat poison and just ended up dying there. I bring in the birdseed at night because of rodents. There is a certain amount of seed that gets tossed out onto the deck, though, and I have notice a few rats out there for 2 nights in a row now. I may have to get out the Rat Zapper and electrocute somebody.

We enjoyed our shrimp fajita plates last night. I made the mistake of having a regular coffee after dinner. I went to bed fine but woke up at 3:30 and couldn't get back to bed until nearly 5:00. I won't do that again.

I miss you guys and have said I'm coming in here to check on ya and then I get busy with something. For an old broad that has very few choices of where to go I still could use more hours in a day. I texted with Barb a few times and told her I do miss ya all--and I DO!!!

BARB Here where we are every store you go to you have to wear a mask. They just won't ley you in if you're not wearing one. I'm surprised only your Costco does that. I almost fell off the chair when I read your neighbor down the street has their house up for 270. It must be in super bad shape. The townhouses where I live are nice but still it's not a house and they go in the 400's. So funny because they were in the high 400 all those years back when the housing prices and everything else went to heck. I can't imagine what they would be worth if that hadn't happened.

MARY Hi cute little Mary! I miss seeing your face and your babies face. You need to cuddle and squeeze her for me. I'm so sorry to hear Jim is having some problems. Really scary about him hitting his head, I hope he's doing better. Shame on him for not telling---bad boy. Bless his heart I really do hope he's doing good.

JUST LIN I never got to see Hamilton on stage and would love to see it on screen. I don't have Disney+ either, never really was something I wanted. I'm such a weird tv watcher anyway. My whole life I've loved old movies and old game shows. That's still what I watch the most. I do have some guilty pleasure like Housewives of Atlanta, Big Brother. Oh yeah and I love love RuPaul! LOL! I have been watching a show called Celebrity Watch Party and LOVE it. Just silly celebrities watching shows that were on the week before but seeing how they reacted to stuff is pretty cool. I'm easily amused 😊

DIANNE You ordered your Christmas cards!!!! I'm so glad you said that because I told myself a week ago I need to start thinking about what to do with Gidget for a picture. Last year I kept going back and forth on it and ended up getting my cards out a lot later than I like to. Since playing in the snow is out (I'm sitting here sweating!) I have to get creative. Funny how you said Halloween candy is out already. My Munchkin came home from work yesterday and said theirs went out last week but also found out yesterday----are ya sitting down??? WalMart won't be open on Thanksgiving! Well it's the first thing I've heard in a long time that really makes sense. Because all these stores and places only let a few people in at a time, you have to stand in line until so many come out and then a few more can go in. I can't imagine how that would ever work on Thanksgiving---BLACK Friday. The people would be lined up for miles and miles. It's a good thing I think.

    I will be back.....SOOOOON πŸ˜˜πŸ•πŸ˜ΎπŸ’œ promise...love ya all

  28. Mary, that’s some shiner that Jim has. I’m glad you took him to have it checked. I hope it’s the new med, cause that’s an easy fix. I was gonna make a snarky comment on your FB page, but I decided it wasn’t something to joke about. I hope you aren’t working too hard.

JL, You have a rat zapper? Tell me about it. My neighbor has an orange tree next to the wall between our houses and the river rats climb the wall to get oranges. He planted a climbing vine on his side and it was coming over to my side. I liked it and it looked pretty.... until I saw rats in it. They were nesting in it and when I had the a/c serviced, the outside unit is on that side, and the tech said he had to shake tons of fleas off his body. It was before I had cats and he asked me if I had pets. Jim said it must be from the rats. It freaked me out and I had my gardener cut all the vine off my side and the top of the wall. Jim keeps it cut now and we see fewer rats. He said he’s going to take out the orange tree. Before Chad moved back, I dreaded grocery shopping. I have the same trouble carrying bags and had to make many trips from the car. I am so spoiled now, he shops and he carries and he mostly puts it all away. I put some stuff away, but he’s much faster.

Dianne, The Jennifers and I usually have started our Christmas cards by now. I don’t know when or even if we are going to get together this year. We have discussed it, but haven’t come up with a plan yet. We don’t have a design, either. Maybe it won’t get done this year. 😿

Seaside, Does Munchkin work at Walmart? I’m shocked it will be closed for Thanksgiving, too. How are they going to handle black Friday? It’s going to be a mess for sure! I never shop on Black Friday anymore. When I was young, I loved it, but I have come to hate shopping and crowds now.
I’m so sorry I couldn’t contact FB and whine about you being off, still. They don’t make it easy to contact them and if the issue is not one they have listed, there is no space to write your own questions. I’m sure that’s intentional. They don’t want to hear from a bunch of people!
Good to see you back here. Don’t be a stranger.

  29. Barb I got the Rat Zapper at ACE Hardware several years ago. It uses batteries and there's a metal plate inside of it that the rats walk on and get zapped by the charge from the batteries. It gives them a quick heart attack, basically. The charge isn't enough to hurt anything else except maybe a kitten or bird. My rats are coming for bird seed so I would lay a line of seed to the opening and into the Zapper. When something gets zapped, a red light starts blinking on it. I dump the body into a garbage bag.

I got an automated call yesterday morning from the DMV telling me I had an appointment on Monday at 3:00. I guess this is because I cancelled my appointment in April because of the virus. Then I got a 4 month extension. After yesterday's call, I found out that all license renewals for 70 year olds and older that were/are due from March through December have been automatically extended for one year now. Yay! I cancelled the appointment as I really don't want my COVID hair to be memorialized on my Real ID for years to come.

  30. Dianne I forgot to mention that you inspired me to go online and shop for Christmas cards. I've bought some and they're on the way! They're an older style so a good deal, price-wise. I'll still wait too long to actually address them. It's hard to be in the mood during the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mary Poor Jim! And poor you, too. Is that the third time he's fallen recently? That's very scary. I hope they get it figured out very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Seaside Since we were not "friends" on FB, I have no idea who Munchkin is. I thought it was another name for Gidget. LOL Obviously, Gidget would not be working at Walmart.

I shop at Safeway and at the beginning of this whole pandemic thing they were regulating how many people could be in the store at the same time. At least in the early morning hours they were, which is when I was going at the time. I finally decided it was too much of a pain in the butt to get up while it was still dark in order to get to Safeway by the time they opened at 6:00. The good thing was that I was going during "senior" hours and it was a dream to shop with hardly anyone else in there. Checking out was quicker because of that, too. I don't even know if they have senior hours anymore. We do have to wear masks. The whole state does at this point, right?

  33. Whew! I finally got a moment to post!
Jim is still having dizzy spells. I wish I knew what was going on! His tests came out ok, but did not solve the dizzy problem. I have been walking and feeding Queenie for Jim. He can barley make it to the garage. It doesn't help that Queenie keeps jumping on him. He tried walking a bit tonight. He tires so easily. Scares me. He drove a short distance today to sign papers for the propane tank we are getting. He had no trouble driving, but he said he had to sit once he was in the business office.
Yesterday we had the electricians here. We had to be up by 7am to let them in the basement. The power was off for about 4 hrs while they hooked everything but the propane tank. That comes next Tues.
Jim had an appmt with his Urologist at 2:00. He wanted to drive himself. He promised to walk slow and not get up from sitting too fast. He was there almost 3 hrs. He came home so tired.
His so called friend Max called and said he was stopping by (right). Jim tried to tell him that he was tired and planned on going to bed early. I guess he took it to mean that it meant he could come over until then! I about flipped when Jim told me he was coming! I went out to the garden and pulled all his dam basil plants and stuffed them in a bag. I gave them to him as he was walking to the house. I told him to put them in his car. I was done taking care of them! Over half died because he was cheap and bought long spindly plants that wouldn't even stand up!
I told him Jim was on the patio. Jim didn't even have time to eat since he got home.
I made him a burger and served it to him in front of Max. Jim was drinking a beer. Max likes to stay hrs and drink Jim's beer. Never brings a thing!. I thought about that for a minute and grabbed a bottle of water from the frig and handed it to Max. LOL!
Unbeknown to me, Max wanted to drive about 35 miles to see an old refurbished covered bridge and wanted to take Jim. I saw them leaving and Jim told me where they were going! I was livid! They went! Jim said he felt dizzy while walking the bridge and had to lean on the rail. On their way back, Max decided he was hungry (imagine that!)and made a stop at a bar and ordered a burger and beer. Max is a very, very, very, slow eater! They got home just before dark. I had just come back from walking and feeding Queenie and started to water my plants when they drove in. Jim came to the patio, but I didn't see Max in his car. Jim said he was behind the garage pissing!
Jim said he told him he was heading to bed early. Guess what? Max started coming towards the house like he was coming in. I went to him and said "NO! he is tired! He has had a long day! Max started to say something in his boring monotone voice and still coming towards the house! I put my hand out like I would a dog , and said NO, we are done here!. He still wanted to mumble. I took Jim by the arm and walked him up the porch steps and didn't look back at Max. What an idiot!!

Today I bought gross-eries. All were wearing masks :)
    Nite all! I am pooped!

  34. Jim & I have access to all our medical info,. such as tests we have had. Here, it is called "My Sparrow". I have had more luck conversing with Jim's Drs on this site than in person these last two days. I got quick responses to my questions. I sent them Jim's last 3 BP readings. We have a BP cuff at home). She suggested he cut his "Amlodine" in half and keep track of his BP readings for a week and get back with her on them and how he has been feeling. Better then an office visit and no co-pay lol!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mary That's fabulous that you were able to get such good medical assistance through the online service. I hope the change in medication dose will solve Jim's lightheaded problems.

Kudos to you for not falling for Max's attempts to get in your house and get another free meal. I don't blame you for being livid at him for not honoring the fact that Jim needed to rest. Is he really dense or is he just a jerk? Anyway, I'm glad he didn't get his way. LOL at giving him water instead of a beer and no burger for him.

  36. Hi...wow I have a lot of catching up to do. I’ve been out of commission with my back procedure yesterday. They put you to sleep for it and then you sleep all day. Can’t tell yet if it’s working. Please pray it will this time.
JL....Louis went and got the pineapple. I still haven't made the cake. Soon she said! I had to have a 40,000 mile Check up and brakes so thats why it was so much. Glad you ordered your Christmas cards. Now that makes two of us! We still pick up groceries every week but
Louis usually goes over there once a week too. Btw,,munchkin is seasides son. Sounds like you had a good dinner with your friend. I have one friend, barb..going to,San Diego tmtw and another one going to Florida. I will quarantine for two, weeks before I see either of them.

I M seeing my deceased husbands daughter for lunch tmrw. I had to get up today or would have slept all day today too.

Seaside. Glad to hear from you. I think it’s good Walmart Is closed this year too. Imthink, eevlwill, see extra online shopping this year. We went to Louis a couple of shirts tonight and they business is slow so since Everyone working from home right now. Better get the doggie picture taken soon.

    I’ll,write more tmrw. Falling asleep

  37. I’m back...mary, hows Jim feeling after his last fall? I hope the change in meds will get rid of that dizziness. It’s so scary. Glad you have your generator all hooked up now. Nice that they sent flowers too. Glad you put max in his place. He is a jerk...sorry to say that about your “friend”. And why is he going to the bathroom in your yard? Gross! That’s nice you have access to the dr without going in..we don’t have that with my ins.

Barb, you might have to order cards this year or just skip them. Ohhhh. I wouldn’t want to find a rat on my tire or near my house. I would have cut down those vines too. Do rats go in the neighbors yard? I’d have to leave if I saw a rat. I’m scared enough of just mice! Gives me the shivers. I used to love Black Friday shopping too. Tammy and I used to have fun doing it. I’d never go now.
Ive done some shopping online. I have to keep a list or I can’t remember what I have or where it’s being kept.

Had a nice lunch today. I was in bathroom and someone came in so I just waited until they were done. They were coughing a lot. Val told me it was a waitress that went in there after me. She wasn’t ours but yuck! My favorite store where I get all My clothes sent a notice today that after 60 years they are closing. I’m going tmrw with Louis and the walker as I have $150 gift cards to use. I know the people that work where I go and they just found out Thursday. Bad news is you can’t try anything on or return anything. That’s going to be a guessing game for me. She said they may keep online store open but not sure so I’m not taking any chances. I guess I’ll be naked in the future. Such a bummer. Hard to tell how my back is doing yet. It feels like it might be better but just too soon to know.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dianne, LOL at you having to go naked. Maybe you can find a new store that you like. When I was working I used to buy most of my clothes at Mervyn’s. I loved that store and was sad when they closed. Then I found a small store in the same shopping center and that was my new store. They closed just before I retired and I discovered QVC. I don’t buy that many clothes now because I don’t need that much, but there are two lines of clothes on QVC that I like and I’ll buy from them if I see something I must have. I know my sizes with them and have never had to return anything.
I hope the procedure you had will help your back. My back has been acting up occasionally. Not too bad, but I take Tylenol. Ibuprofen actually works better, but I can’t take that because of my kidneys. I have been having bloody noses the past two days and I took my blood pressure yesterday and it was really high. Chad mentioned that it may be because the kidney doc lowered one of my BP meds so I emailed her and she got right back to me. I am back to the original dosage. I love being able to email my docs. It’s so much better than trying to call. They always answer within 48 hours and often much quicker.

JL, I am going to look for a rat zapper. I don’t know if rats go into the neighbor’s yard, but I don’t want them in my yard.
My sister’s driver’s license expired on her birthday in January and she forgot to renew it. I discovered it in March when I was helping her with the house. She said she hasn’t been driving and for the most part I think that’s true, but I think she drives to her mailbox. She lives in a condo and they have a bank of mailboxes at the end of the building. It’s not that far, but she drives. I told her she shouldn’t be driving until she gets her license renewed, but I’m pretty sure she will still do it. I think I’ll call and ask if she can be in that group of auto renewal. They’ll probably say no, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
I think Munchkin is Seaside’s grandson, not her son.

Mary, I am so proud of you for telling Max he couldn’t go inside, and gave him his basil back, too. And what the hell is with him peeing in your yard. I would have had to say something to him about that. I would be afraid to let Jim drive until you can find out about the cause of the dizzy episodes. It wouldn’t be good if it should happen while he’s driving. It’s good that you’re able to talk to Jim’s docs online. I really like that feature, too.

Seaside, yes the house across the street is in really bad shape, I hear. I haven’t been in it, but a bunch of druggies lived there, so I can imagine. They have it listed on zillow and they put a picture of the outside on the site, but no pics of the inside. That should tell buyers something!
I used to watch Big Brother and Survivor, but I don’t watch them anymore, except for when Ross was on BB. I watch the Bachelor, Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars. JustLin and I usually watch and text back and forth about the show.
More stores are requiring masks to be used before we can shop. Some people still refuse to wear one and it causes problems. I just don’t understand why they can’t see that it’s going to take longer to get through this because of that attitude! Some still believe the pandemic is a hoax. I don’t know how they explain almost 150,000 deaths! I guess they think that’s a hoax, too.

  39. Checking in..
We have had a busy week here. Between Jim's spells and all the different workers coming and going it has been stressful! All we need is on last electrical inspection and for the Co. to pick up their check. Jim went to the bank and asked for money and they said they were short of $100 bills! I thought that was weird. Anyway I felt more comfortable with Jim getting a cashiers check anyway. It is written out to the Co.

Dianne, I said a prayer last night and this morning for you. I sure hope your backaches go away!! Please keep your clothes on lol!!

Barb, Must be your BP pills don't make you dizzy. Jim has been doing so much better with half a dosage. He still tires easily, but has not had a dizzy spell in 2 days. He even walked Queenie a couple of times, which gave my legs a much needed break! My sciatica flared up big time Tues night. I forgot how painful it could be! I have never had it hurt from my feet to mt arse!
I used my funny shaped do-dad to press all the needed pressure points. I also used some muscle & joint salve I bought at a local farm market. Home made. It has olive oil infused with cayenne pepper & beeswax.
essential oils : lavender,Lemongrass, Thyme, Ginger,Peppermint, wintergreen,Basil,Clary Sage,Juniper Berry,Oregano, and Rosemary. Whew lol! Really helped!
My bee bite is doing good, again salve saved me lol. I ordered more from Amazon.
Poor Zoie has been stressed out too! She has missed many of her naps with all the commotion! When Jim was having a hard time, she would not leave his side.
Last night I gave her a nice bath and rubdown. She slept like a rock!
As far as tv, I find that I don't watch as much as I used to. I have been reading and listening to Alexa. Rick Steves has a new book out that I ordered on Amazon. I will prolly start today. Ewe, I am watching Botched lol! That show intrigues me. H&G is another of my fave shows.

    Have a great day all!
    Waving at JL & Seaside!!

P.S. JLynn, yes, I lost my cool with Max! Sorry not sorry LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mary Oh, that bee sting of yours looks so angry and painful. I hope it is feeling a lot better than it looks. Did you ever get the stinger out?

The list of ingredients in your salve reminded me of my grocery receipt yesterday. I sorted through my spices and replaced a bunch of them that were 4 or 5 years past their "best by" dates. Rosemary and sage were on the list as well as a bunch of others. It added about $40 to my bill.

I'm so glad Jim hasn't had any more dizzy spells since the adjustment to his meds. That was getting very dangerous. I bet Queenie likes having her regular walking buddy back on the job and you must appreciate the break. Is there a reason you don't walk both dogs at the same time? Ooh, I feel your pain with the sciatica. I hope that's doing better now, too.

Btw, Dianne sent me pics of your new hair color. I like it. It looks great! What does Jim think of it. Being a man, I wonder if he even noticed. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  41. Barb I've always been very deliberate in the use of the Rat Zapper. I set it when I know I have a rat coming to my deck. I bait the trap and set it to activate it. I always turn it off when I'm ready to go to bed and bring it to store in my garage. I've never turned it on and then just left it for days at a time. I guess that's because I didn't want one of my birdie friends walking in to it in the early morning. When something sets it off, it has a red flashing light. This can be set off in error by dampness. Because of fogginess here, I've wrapped it in Press N Seal when putting it out on those nights.

So, it looks like my county is now on the "watch" list. I guess if our virus stats don't look a lot better, we will be put on more restrictions on Aug. 1 and nail and hair salons will be closed again. I am not ready to deal with my nails or hair, yet, but I think I will end up getting my hair dyed again when I am able to. This white/gray hair makes me look my age and I don't like it. LOL

Do you ever watch Big Brother? My daughter and I watch that one and text back and forth about it. A new season starts Aug. 5. The whole premise is that they are quarantined so I guess it's a perfect show for the times.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Dianne Thanks for the nudge. I was getting here it's just that I was waiting to have something to write about. The most interesting thing that happened to me lately was that the other night when I pulled back the covers to get in bed, there was a big spider there in my bed! Yikes! As I grabbed for a tissue, it ran off the side of the mattress and fell on the floor so I was able to smash it there. It kind of gave me the heebie-jeebies to get in bed but I started reading my Kindle and forgot about it. When I told my daughter, she said she would have had to strip the entire bed. LOL

My Christmas cards arrived and I like them even better in person than I did when I saw them online. I wonder when they come out with Christmas stamps? I assume it's not yet.

I'm very unhappy about my weight but I seem to not be doing anything about it. I should be using this time to be more disciplined but last night I was eating two heated and buttered cinnamon rolls with a small glass of cold milk. Not exactly diet food.

My socializing during the week has included a trip to a hardware store, a trip to the post office, a trip to the grocery store, visiting outside with my neighbors a few days ago, and a visit outside with my friend Jane.

I hope you're starting to feel some good results in your back from your recent procedure. Keeping fingers crossed.

  43. Hi....Sunday evening here. Went to lunch right by house today and getting ready for my TT zoom call. I was out of sorts actually yesterday and the whole week off and on with my tummy. I ended up sleeping all day yesterday. We were going to go for a mtn drive and I got half ready and then just stopped. I thought I was going to have to call dr tmrw. It today..knock on wood...is much better.
JL...my back isn’t really feeling much better. Go to dr on the 11th I think so maybe I’ll see a change by then if not then I’m through trying shots. Did your county close down again? Ours is being watched too. I agree with your daughter about you bed situation. You are a much more adventuresome person than I am with spiders, rats, etc. Louis found like a small black like worm thing on basement steps Thursday. I had the bug guy here on Friday! I think you can order Christmas stamps right now. Get this...last week I weighed in after two weeks and gained 6 pounds. Wednesday I went and lost 7.8 pounds! How does that happen? I didn’t do one thing different. Btw, I still haven’t made my cake...maybe next week. I’ll be back...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cool and rainy here...finally! We sure needed a break!
I had Jim check his BP yesterday, it was way high! He had a light dizzy spell. This morning it was still high, but not as bad. I wrote to the Dr. I know Jim does not want to go back to a full dosage. The high BP scares me!

JustLin, We have walked the dogs together, but Zoie is not much for long walks and Queenie bugs her a lot.
BTW, Jim didn't notice my hair color lol!!

Dianne, Sorry about your back & tummy :(
You would not like country living, bug wise lol! We have all kinds of creatures crawling around here. I was walking Queenie the other day and walked up to a snake all curled up with it's head looking at me. Luckily Queenie was going in a different direction. I quickly followed her. I didn't want to see Queenie play with it lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mary, no...I don’t want to live with bugs and snakes. We have snakes here too but not by our house that I’ve ever seen. Did you hear back from Jim’s dr? Maybe they could try a different one. Jim didn’t notice your hair color because you always wear your hat! I don’t think Louis would notice either but he knows when I go so he always mentions it to me. How’s your back and bee sting? We all just don’t get well, do we? We need a massage person to travel to all our houses! Tammy has one that comes to her house. Her trainer from the gym is now coming to her house to help her with that ankle she broke last Christmas. She’s much better but still has some pain and a small limp from it that long ago. We’re still having 90’s every day and hardly any rain....which we need. Louis daughter is right by the tropical storm in Virginia right now. Scary.

Barb...how are you doing? Did your sister get to renew her license online? That would be much easier. I don’t know the rules on it. Yes, you are lucky you can email your dr. I wish I could do it and I for sure would when needed. My tummy is finally getting better today or I would have been calling tmrw. Did you get your rat zapper? Is Chad going to be getting the dead ones out? Ooo scary. I wouldn’t even look at it.
What do you think about the changes at DWTS? Big surprise. Now it sounds like Ellen might not be returning either. I’m listening to the top 30 country countdown right now. They have it every Sunday night on my country radio station.

Well, that’s about it. Had a nice zoom conversation with the TT fans. They are all talking what shows they are hoping to go to if the still are on. Seaside....hi!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jim's Dr. wrote back this morning. I am liking this! Anyway... she advised Jim to back off on his salt intake to 2500 mgs. He loves his salt, but seems dedicated to trying.
I have always read labels on sodium for Matthew. Looks like no more Chinese food, it's loaded with sodium! :( Easy on the potato chips too.
    Have a great weak everyone!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hi Mary and everyone else.....glad you heard back from Jim’s dr so quick. So low salt. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. Not much going on around here. . I guess I’ll go by Ww and get on the dreaded scale again. I don’t really know why I do it when I’m not even counting points. Maybe because I pay monthly for it. We’re going out for dinner tmrw night with the family for Wendy’s (Ex sil wifes) bday dinner. We’re going to Mexican restaurant. It’s not my favorite but the enchiladas are good there. The guac is too spicy for me..darn it. So what are you all up to in your life? I really wish we could travel but that’s sure not happening in the near future.

    ReplyDelete
  48. JL, Thanks for the nudge. So here I am with not much to say. I haven’t gotten a rat zapper yet, but we won’t be leaving it out for extended periods, either. There are many other critters around here, big and small, because of the River. I was very surprised to read about Clare dropping out of the Bachelorette. I have to give her credit for not wanting to let all the other guys get their hopes up, when she had no intention of picking one of them. Plus, she’d be making out with them and her beau wouldn’t be too happy about that. I really hope her new romance works out.

Dianne, I hope your tummy and back are feeling better. Back pain is a b!]@h. I know you hate staying home for too long, but I am afraid we’re in for a long haul because so many people won’t cooperate! I can’t believe people really believe it’s all a conspiracy. Do they really believe the whole world is in on it. I watched the Tameron Hall show today and she had an Australian woman on (virtually) who lives In Shanghai. Her husband tested positive for COVID-19 and he was immediately hospitalized. The family was quarantined to their home until her husband recovered and tested negative. The government people called her three times a day to make sure they were staying home. They even made her walk around the house to prove she was hime. They are serious about the quarantine. All those who deny this is real need to hear about other countries and what they are doing.

Mary, I have all those oils. I should try to make some of that. All I need is the beeswax. I have tried sooo many remedies that haven’t worked for me. I also know how painful sciatica is and from your arse to your toes. My back problems started with that and after 10 months of progressively more pain, I was finally able to have back surgery to relieve it. I was never so happy as I was after that surgery. I didn’t even mind the recovery pain because it wasn’t as bad as before the surgery.

  49. Hi Barb...So JL took over my nudging job. I’m glad so I don’t look like a pain all the time. You’re so right that I like to be doing some travel but I agree that will be probably a long time from now. I’m still having some tummy issues off and on and my back never goes away. I wish we were as strict with the virus as other countries. Everyone had a mask on at the store today. It’s mandatory but you never know with people. I haven’t been to the store for a long time and was just there briefly. How close is the river to your house? WHen you back bothers you is it the same place where you had your surgery or different? Had a nice family Mexican dinner last night. The enchiladas were good but too many. Louis had left overs for dinner tonight. I picked up a couple of pieces of baked chicken at the deli for myself today but probably won’t eat them until tmrw. Im picking up my friend that just turned 90 for lunch. She’s still driving but not much. She lives 45 min away. I did good at Ww yesterday and lost 5.2 pounds. Probably because of my tummy issues. I’m kind of afraid to eat much. Hard way to lose but at least maybe my tops will fit better.

    Hello to everyone. Missing everyone.

  50. Mary I hope the reduction in sodium helps Jim. I'm supposed to keep my sodium down but I'm not good about doing it. I'm not sure why I'm so resistant about it besides the fact that I love salty stuff. In fact, I have some Lays Potato Chips right now and a couple of days ago I had an American cheese and potato chip sandwich on white bread. It's something I've liked since my teenage days. Oh, and with a Coke, which is something else I need to restrict. Oh, well. I blame it all on COVID.

Was the snake you came across a garter snake? It's been years since I saw one in my yard. I don't know if I mentioned it on here but I saw another coyote on my street a couple of weeks ago. I've lived here 50 years and never saw coyotes on my street before this year and now this makes two times. Also, there was a notice on the Next Door App that there was a mountain lion in a creek behind some town homes that are just a couple of blocks away from me.

I also love being able to communicate with my doctor via email. It makes life so much easier. It was especially nice during this pandemic that a physical therapist was able to send me exercises to do for my shoulder, demonstrated through animation.

Before the pandemic, I was eating Chinese food quite often but since this began, I think I only got it once and that was for pick-up and because I was craving pot stickers.

  51. Dianne Yep, our county got closed down again so no nail or hair salons are open and dining is either outside or pick up or delivery. So, I missed my opportunity to do anything about my hair if I was going to do it. I really would at least like to have my hair cut so it would lay properly. I don't even necessarily need it to be cut exactly the way it was before but right now it's just awkward and I'm not able to style it into anything, really. I don't mind how it looks from the front but I really don't like it from the side or from behind. If it was shorter, I wouldn't have to take so long to blow dry it. It's uncomfortable for me to hold the hair dryer up right now due to my injured shoulder.

I'm sorry your back hasn't really improved. Maybe it will just take longer than expected. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'm glad your stomach is feeling better. I had a day where I wasn't feeling that grand, either. I spent that day on the couch watching TV and just had comforting soup to eat.

Kudos to you for the weight loss. I'm still paying for WW, too, even though I haven't been counting for a long, long time. Stupid, huh?

  52. Barb Are you getting cabin fever from never going anywhere? My big outings today were trips to the post office, the hardware store to pick up bird seed I'd ordered, and grocery shopping at Safeway. I hate to admit it but it was exhausting! Especially by the time I got all the bags of groceries into the house. I can't load up my left arm the way I used to because of my shoulder issue so that means even more trips from car to house.

While I was unpacking the car, my dog was out front with me and a man was walking his two small dogs on the other side of the street. My dog thought she'd like to go say hello, so as she started crossing the street, I told the guy that my dog was friendly. His answer was that his dog was an asshole. LOL Sure enough, Ursula only walked halfway across the street when that little dog started barking and snarling. I had Ursula come back and she looked like her feelings were hurt. She's not used to that kind of greeting.

Well, I hope things work out for Clare. She was never my favorite but if she really found love, yay for her. I like Tayshia. It ought to be interesting to see how they work this season out. Last night I watched the first episode of Big Brother All-Stars. It's a lot of people who have been on it before. I was surprised to see two people from Season 6 which is the first Season I ever watched. That makes it kind of fun for me. My daughter doesn't get network TV so she always has to watch it later via computer.

After all that heavy lifting today (I had to break down a case of water into three trips because of my shoulder), I think I will order myself a prime rib dinner. I've been thinking about it since yesterday.

  53. Dianne, The houses across the street from me back up to the levy. So we used to walk along the levy after dinner quite often during the summer. We also had a canoe that Bob and the boys would haul down to the river and cruise. I don’t like boats so I never went with them. The boys spent a lot of time at the river when they were young. One of the big oak trees had a rope tied ti a branch and a bunch of kids would gather to swing off the rope into the river. Recently, there are some homeless people that camp down there. The Park Rangers patrol along the river and will evict the people camping, but they will come back. The Parks Department tries to keep them from camping there, but there aren’t enough places for the homeless to go.
When my back hurts, it’s usually across my lower back. It’s not like it was before my surgery. Then it was like sciatica only more severe and my leg was also numb in places.
Enchiladas sound really good. I am wanting Mexican food now! I used to make good cheese enchiladas, but I haven’t made them in probably 20 years. I should try it again if I can remember how.

JL, I was never that impressed with Clare, either. One of the stylists that works at Sheenah’s shop knows her slightly, and didn’t have nice things to say about her. Of course, that’s only one side of the story so I shouldn’t judge. I hope this romance works out for her. I do like Tayshia and I’m anxious to see how it all plays out, too.
I chuckled at your neighbor’s description of his dog. Poor Ursula didn’t like being rejected!
My hair has grown at least three inches. I am having a hard time blow drying it, too. I can do the front and sides ok sorta, but it just hurts to hold my arms up to do the back. If I don’t blow dry it, it just lays flat on my head and looks really ugly. Plus, there’s a lot of gray and I do not like it! My Mom had pretty white hair and it looked good oh her. Mine is dull gray and ugly.

  54. Hi....it’s Sunday night and I’m listening to the top 30 country countdown I listen to every Sunday night. The main person always has a music star in the top five with him so I just come in bedroom, close the door and listen from 8-10:30. It’s relaxing to me and interesting plus entertaining. I met Barb in the parking lot again today for about two hours. We found some shade in the 95 degree weather. I hadn’t seen her for a few weeks as she’d been on vacation. Had my hair colored and cut yesterday. She did some low lites to make it just a little darker as she said it wasn’t holding the color and was too light. I like the color. Well, that’s my big weekend!

Barb, we have so many homeless too. They keep moving them but no place to go. They are trying to make an area but so many don’t want to go to shelters. I think I’d mentioned that Todd is working a night or two a week at a place they set up for 700 homeless men since covid. My leg doesn’t bother me with my back pain. Sometimes I think there is a little improvement with these shots but not much. I go to pain dr on Tuesday. I’ll bet you could remember how to make the enchiladas. We should just have Mary make some for all of us. I went on the Texas tenor zoom call tonight. There is the most annoying lady on there. She goes to all the shows and lives in Kansas City. They were talking about possible Oct shows in Branson and the social distancing, masks, etc. she thinks it’s just overplayed that everyone is so concerned. She says that three mos from now, it will probably be gone. The TT want front row empty for their own protection. She wants a meet and greet and hugs. I’m a new person so I don’t say much although tonight I did tell her she’s in dreamland. Someone then asked her what she was smoking? She said last week that some breeds of dogs should just be shot! I can’t tell if they all really like her but I have a feeling she’s tolerated. She’s about mid 50’s I’d say. Grrr, she gripes me. I still have my $200 worth of tickets for Kansas in sept. I can’t sell them as everyone has their tickets that are going. I still kind of hope they cancel and then I’ll get a refund. I still go back and Forth if we should go or not!

JL, I’ll bet Ursula’s feelings were hurt. Funny what that guy said about his dog. Did you see today that Simon Cowell broke his back this weekend? He had a five hour surgery. They are supposed to be live Tuesday night for semi finals so I don’t know how they will handle that now. He fell off an electric bike in front of his house. Where do you order a prime rib dinner? Do they deliver it? Boy, that sounds good. We went to a close by locally owned little place by us last night. I had pizza and Louis had a calzone. We’ve gone for years. It was pretty empty and we went at 5. I noticed that the people working in the kitchen didn’t have masks on. I have a problem with it. I’m going to call them tmrw and hopefully get the owner or manager. I would hate to see them closed down because of if. I felt kind of weird to say anything last night. You made me want prime rib and Chinese food now. We have left overs from last night for tmrw night. You’d better be careful taking the dog out at night with your wild animals roaming around so close to your house. Take a flashlight or is it well lit in your yard? Be careful. Btw, I love chips on a sandwich too..especially tuna or peanut butter and jelly A lady from CA on the zoom call today said saw a nail place with their tables outside doing nails!

Mary, hows the salt diet going? How’s Jim doing? If we don’t hear from you tmrw, I’ll come nudging. I don’t use salt on anything. I do love chips, etc., too. I might make potatoes and ham in the crockpot this week. It’s with frozen hash browns...my kind of easy. What did you do over the weekend? Catch up with us.

    Hi Seaside...missing you.

  55. Yikes....my longest. Post yet. Sorry, I musT be lonely

    ReplyDelete
  56. Here I am, checking in!
Had my hair done today. I was late due to my being an idiot! I left in plenty of time, but was still 1/2 hr late! She laughed at my reason and said the same thing has happened to her. She lives close to me and drives into Lansing to her salon job. She hates all the traffic, so takes a back way route. Yup. I tried it and got my arse lost lol! I finally used my navigator to get back on track. That was not the smartest thing to do, as it only takes me free-way wise, not back roads. It took me back where I came from and I had to start all over and use the normal highway route! Ugh!
On my way back I stopped to pick up a few groceries. It is a very busy area with many accidents, so I am always extra careful. The speed limit is 45. Well, I pulled out onto the main road. It is 2 lanes each way, plenty of room. I looked both ways and only seen one red truck about 1/4 mile away, so I pulled out into the first lane. Well, the guy in the truck must have been going at least 70mph and caught up to me. Instead of going around me he drove close to my rear. He laid on his horn and went around me and pulled in front of me. I had to get in the lane next to me to get on the freeway, so we were almost next to each other. I pulled back a bit when I noticed he threw something out of his window. Not sure what it was. The next thing he did was throw out his almost full fast food drink aiming, but missing me! Glad I had to get on the expressway, or he might have followed me and done who knows what. He was a young white spoiled brat!

We are expecting a nasty storm to come through here any time. I was rushing around getting Zoie outside to do her business before she headed under the bed lol!
I took Queenie for a short walk out back, cooked a light dinner, and doing a load of towels. It is so nice not to have to worry about power going out in the middle of my cooking or washing clothes!

Jim is doing great with using less salt. H still tires easy and unable to do much.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hi....well my losing streak is over I gained two pounds this week. Oh well.....I guess I shouldn’t have eaten two donuts this week. It’s still hot in the 90’s here. Too hot for me. Mary, we always get our hair done at the same time. I just hoping our beauty shops stay open. Funny that u got lost going there. How scary with that guy throwing his drink at you. I’m always scared everyone has a gun! Looks like you had a bad storm the other night. Did your power go out? I’m glad Jim is doing better.

I made my hotel reservations in Kansas again. I’m still not sure if going. I can cancel reservation the day before so I’ll just wait and see what happens. I went to pain dr and he pretty much said he’s done all he can for me. I either need surgery or live with the pain. I’ve decided to live with it at this point. It’s really painful but I’m not ready for surgery.

Had lunch with Tammy today. I’m over and out....nothing more to report. .

  58. Dianne, I know you want to see TT again, but I don’t think we’re going to be in much better shape in September than we are now! It’s really scary that so many people are not taking this virus seriously! I worry about the kids going to school in the states that have opened them. Our schools are doing distance learning at least until the end of the year, I think. My son Todd and his wife got season tickets to Raiders games when they moved to LV and opened up the season tickets. He has been a die hard Raiders fan since he was 10 and was so excited when his name was drawn for eligibility to buy them. Last week he told me, jokingly, that Vicki has him on suicide watch, because they canceled the season. It was bad when they first said there would be no fans, but no season at all has him pretty depressed. I even made a reservation at my timeshare in LV for them to go to the first game! Had to cancel that! 😒
Chad is going to buy the ingredients for enchiladas next time he goes grocery shopping. It will probably be a couple of weeks before he goes. I’ll let you know how they turn out. Did you ever make that cake?

Mary, LOL at you getting lost going to the salon. I still have not gotten my hair or nails done. The hair salons were opened up for a very short time, but had to shut down again. Sheenah brought over some clear base coat and top coat and the bottle of color polish I usually wear and told me I should keep it on my nails because they keep breaking. They are so thin without the layer of silk she puts on them I haven’t been able to get any length at all, so she said the polish should help. So I have these little stumpy nails trying to grow.
I’m glad to hear Jim is doing well with the salt. Now, if he will only give up the cigarettes!

JL, How was the prime rib? Chad cooked a small one a couple of weeks ago and we had it for two meals. Last weekend he made BBQ ribs and they were delish. He also made some oven fried herb potatoes that were so good, too. He got the small white potatoes and quartered them and tossed them with melted butter and herbs and baked them until they were crispy. OMG! I could have eaten a ton of them.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Barb My prime rib was delicious and also huge. I only ate half of the meat for dinner and sliced it thinly the next day for a steak sandwich. What I really grubbed out on even more than the prime rib was the creamed spinach I got with it. It's so good!

The potatoes Chad made sound really good. I never met a potato I didn't like. Truly.

Right now I have banana nut bread baking in the oven. I'm trying not to be wasteful with food and my two bananas were looking horrible. They didn't make as much volume as I thought they would when I mashed them up so I don't expect this bread to be very strong with banana flavor. Oh, well. It will still be tasty warm with butter spread on it.

I have not idea what I'm going to have for dinner tonight but everyone's comments here are certainly making me with I could make enchiladas. LOL

I've been watching Big Brother and the other night I had a dream that I was in the Big Brother house and Michael J. Fox took me in the bathroom and yelled at me and punched me in the mouth several times because I did something that screwed up his game strategy. WTH? I have no idea why I dreamed such a thing or why I put poor MJF in it. LOL I think these times are just really stressing me out for a couple of different reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Mary OMG! That incident with the guy in he truck is so scary! What a major a-hole! I'm so glad he didn't cause you to have an accident. I think there may be even more road rage than usual lately because people are so stressed out right now. So many things to worry about. That doesn't excuse his behavior one little bit, though, and he's probably an a-hole in normal times, too.

Regarding your adventure to get to your hair salon.....Sometimes it doesn't pay to try and take a shortcut. I only have to go about 3 miles north to get to my hair salon so it would be pretty pathetic if I got lost no matter what route I took. LOL I missed the window of opportunity if I was going to do anything about my hair. When I see my two-tone hair in the mirror I kept thinking I remind myself of someone. I finally realized I remind myself of the 20-Mule Team Borax lady (Rosemary Decamp) who I would see on TV on those commercials when I was a kid. She was a bit matronly in those days and had two-tone hair.

I'm glad to hear Jim is doing ok with the salt reduction. I took my BP the other day on my left arm and it was quite high. I took it a couple more times and it was still high. I realized that the discomfort I was feeling in my shoulder while holding my arm out might be making a difference. I waited a minute and then took it again on the right side and it was perfect.

You really do live in a park-like setting. I'm glad you didn't get hit too hard with the recent storm.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Dianne Oh, that woman on the TT Zoom is an ignorant fool and I would not have been able to keep my mouth shut about it. She is an example of one of the reasons I feel so stressed out. We have way too many stupid and selfish people in this country. I am appalled at their behavior and their lack of consideration and common sense. I am disgusted with them. I definitely would have lost it with that woman regarding her remark about shooting some breeds of dogs as she was certainly talking about my sweet Ursula.

I'm sorry you haven't had better results with your back. I don't blame you for not feeling up to having surgery right now. My friend Kathy had surgery on her hand over a week ago and she'll be having surgery on her other hand in a month. I was at her house last night for dinner. Besides her surgery, she hasn't gone anywhere since the pandemic started as she is very high risk. Her husband does the grocery shopping. Last night we ordered out for some Greek food and her husband went and picked it up. When I got my prime rib dinner the other night, I got it from a restaurant that is just a few miles north of me. They do have a patio in back where they are serving meals at tables that are far apart but I haven't done that, yet.

How does Louis feel about the possible trip to Kansas?

I do have enough light out front at night. There is a street light on far the side of my driveway and I have motion sensor porch light.

Chips on a tuna sandwich sounds good but on peanut butter and jelly? Uh, no. I'll pass on that.

    ReplyDelete
  62. JustLin, The guy in the truck was quite young. I find young men these days are very impatient and watch way too much NASCAR, imo! I have had them pass me on double yellow lines and on hills. Very scary! You cracked me up on the "Mule Team " comparison lol!!
It is easy to get lost around here unless you take the free-way. Roads curve,dead-end,
turn into gravel at any turn and of course there are all those detours lol!!

All of our salons and nail places are open here. We are a pretty close knit community here and all take their jobs/clients seriously, health wise. At my salon each gal has her own cubical. They have a plastic type mask that peels off and goes directly on your face, like a second skin. Not hard to breath at all. Did give me a bit of a rash for a couple of days.
School starts on the 24th. Matthew is a bit nervous especially when it comes to the smaller children. A few teens will be driving and some parents will be dropping their kids off, and of course some will be home schooling. I pray they are all safe!

Dianne. I know you are missing all the traveling. I know I am! Jim misses Vegas. I miss traveling anywhere lol! Sorry about not being able to see the TTs. At least you have a way to stay connected to them. I am in agreement with all of you! I would have a big bite out of my tongue trying to keep quiet!

I am going to ask all of you to keep Raquel in your prayer, big time, this week!
A few weeks ago she discovered a small "mass" on her scalp. Lena sent me a pic and it scared the hell out of me! Def. some sort of cancerous growth! She was at the Drs. office for Myla, and asked Dr too look at it. He scolded her! He said " Raquel, you are a nurse! You know better than letting something like this go unattended!" I Googled what looked like her mass, and scared the bajesus out of me!
The Dr removed it today and will be sending it to the Lab.He said the top looked abnormal while the outside area didn't. Lots of prayers please! She is keeping it private for now so please nothing on FB.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi..How’s everyone? Mary, prayers right away for Raquel. I didn’t realizes she is a nurse. It is scary but prayer helps a lot. Please keep us updated. Hopefully those results will be back soon. I’m sorry you are going through the worry.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Me again ...well, my kansas reservations are back on again. I can cancel the day before so we will just see how we’re feeling at that time. My friend and her mom just came back from seven days in Vegas. I’m anxious to talk to her to see how it was for them. She’s not a huge gambler or pool person so I thought seven days seemed like a lot of days. I went to a different grocery store today and had my turning signal on to go in the handicap space that someone was leaving. All of a sudden a guy in a pickup, going the wrong way, pulled in front of me and parked he couldn’t even get in the spot since he was going in the wrong direction so he just parked the wrong way on the striped lines next to the spot. I couldn’t believe it! He was mid age. He jumped out of the truck and went in with me still sitting there. I thought he was going to hit me. He looked like a road rage kind of guy so I didn’t honk or do anything. What an ass!

Barb, I don’t think they’ve canceled the football season just probably no fans. Although, I’m a season ticket holder and we had the choice of a refund, putting towards next year or maybe going to a game here and there and said decisions weren’t for sure yet. All the teams are at training camp without fans right now. They did cancel the preseason games. Did you make your enchiladas yet? I’m having left over steak tonight from the longhorn. Restaurant the other night. We took my uncle to dinner for his 70th. Barb and I went actually into a restaurant Sunday as it’s high 90’s and the smoke from all our fires is really bad so she was willing to go inside. Thank goodness!

JL I continue to try and get Louis’s feeling on Kansas . He said at this point he’s ok. He’s going to call the chamber of commerce to check on rest stops. Andy and group went there Friday night on their way to Oklahoma and he said they were open. We will wait until it gets closer and call and make some decisions. I’m still changing my mind a few times a day. Your Greek food sounds yummy. I like Greek food.

Well, we are hoping for rain with none in sight. My brother got pneumonia the end of the week. They finally did a covid test on him Friday and it was negative. They took it to the hospital to get fast results. He was finally without a fever and not getting sick yesterday. Scary! His nursing home have had no cases of COVID.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Stopping by to let you know I am still alive and kicking!
Nothing exciting to talk about. Hoping all who are in the fires path in Cali stays safe!
It has been dry here and finally cooing of in the low 80s during the day and down in the 50s at night. Finally gave our AC a break!
    Stay safe!

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's "cooling", not cooing" LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hi.....IM alive and kicking too. It’s still really hot here, no rain and bad fires. They say it might rain next Wednesday. I sure hope it comes sooner. Went for my dental cleaning today and for once it didn’t cost extra for other things. I then even had time to go for nails later in the day. I was able to go a whole month this time!

Recd a phone call and text on Texas tenors show. It has been moved to an arena and only three people at a table. If we go, I’m really glad about that for many obvious reasons. Another was that annoying lady was scheduled to be at my table...now nope! I’m having lunch with Tammy tmrw. She’s remodeling her house and just starting. Anxious to see what she’s chosen. Went to Ww and dang if I didn’t gain again. It’s such a never ending battle.

Mary, any news on Raquel? Hope all is well.

It looks like I’m about to go nudging again. I’m such a pest. .

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dianne, I agree with the others about that Zoom lady. I wouldn't have kept my big mouth shut. Sorry your back isn’t getting better. It’s really exhausting to be in pain all the time. I have constant pain from fibromyalgia in my upper arms. It’s always there, but worse at times. I’m sure that’s why I have no energy. Advil helps but I can’t take it because of my kidneys, so I take 1500 mg of Tylenol every 12 hrs. It doesn’t do much, but it is worse if I don’t take it.
I like chips on savory sandwiches, but I’ve never tried it on PB&J. I do like salty sweet stuff, so I may try it.
I probably would have chased that guy down in the grocery store, and yelled at him for taking the handicap space, especially if it was a bad fibro day! Luckily, I hardly ever drive anymore, since Chad is here. He drops me at the door.
There are a lot of fires raging in Northern CA and even though they aren’t very close, our air is so smoky it’s hard to breathe. We haven’t gone outside all week, except to get the mail. They were started by the lightning storm we had that lasted two days.
I haven’t made the enchiladas yet, because Chad hasn’t gone to the grocery. He was going to go today, but the smoke was worse than yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  69. JL, I never met a potato I didn’t like, also, but I would pass on the creamed spinach. Raw spinach is OK in salad, but I don’t like it cooked.
That was some dream you had and I can’t imaging MJF punching anyone, let alone a woman. I’ve had some very weird dreams lately, too and I do think it has something to do with what’s going on now. There’s so much to process, with COVID-19, the upcoming election and so many people out of work, not to mention the crazies on Facebook.
I have been taking my BP almost every day and its been OK since I went back to the higher dose of the heart medicine.
We have ordered out quite a bit since the quarantine. Chad usually goes to pick it up. We had a short window where some restaurants were open, but we didn’t go. It will be a while before we feel comfortable going to a restaurant to eat, since we are both in the high risk category. We must have a Greek restaurant here. I’ll have to Google it. I do like Greek food.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mary, I will keep Raquel and Matthew in my prayers and that all the kids stay safe, too.
I’m not sure I would like to have that mask on my face like that. Does it cover everything but your eyes? Does it mess up your makeup? I still haven’t had my nails done. Sheenah dropped off some base/top coat and the polish I usually wear and I have been keeping it on my nails to protect them. It has helped a little and they have grown a little. My hair is another matter! About three inches longer and lots of gray. I thought about letting it all grow out, but I’m not liking it.
I hope Jim continues to do well with the salt intake. Now if only he could quit the cigarettes.

    ReplyDelete
  71. JL, I forgot to say thanks for the nudge, again. The days are all running together and I didn’t realize how long it had been since I posted.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Barb The smoke in the air is worse today than it has been up to this point. Directly above me is blue sky but I can see the brown haze in the distance. Last night when I took the dog out for her final potty, everything was wet from the heavy fog that had come in. It's too bad it wouldn't have gone inland enough to help with the fires.

I've had a sore throat for several days now and I'm not sure but I it may be smoke related. It could also be allergies or a cold since my sinuses are acting up a bit, too. One of my husband's daughters has a house in Butano which is down the coast and she was evacuated several days ago and is staying with family. I hope her home survives. These fires are so scary.

The young family across the street from me is really nice. Rainbow brought me cookie dough last weekend so I could bake cookies when I wanted them. The next day, she brought me a pan of Eggplant Parmesan which I had for four dinners. It was delicious! How lucky am I?

  73. Dianne OMG! Can you imagine how miserable it would be to be stuck at a table with that very annoying woman. It's good you were told who your table mate would be before committing to it. She would totally ruin your evening.

I would have been so angry at that pick-up guy in the truck swooping in and stealing your spot! Did he have a handicapped placard or license plate? I know in California, you get a hefty fine for parking in a handicap space if you don't qualify for it. I think I would have called the cops on him so he'd get ticketed. I once took a photo of an SUV and its license plate because they were parked unlawfully in a handicap space. It really annoyed me to see the two women spend lots of time shopping for gifts while they took up that space. I guess I was super sensitive to it as I was with my brother who just got out of the hospital with knee surgery. I probably bitched about it here at the time. LOL

I haven't gotten on the scale in quite a while and I'm afraid to. I can still get into my jeans so I guess that's a positive sign.

There was a day last week that it was in the high 80s here and I was absolutely miserable. I don't have air conditioning but I was uncomfortable enough to keep a wet washcloth on the back of my neck. I thought of you visiting with your Barb in the heat. I get how uncomfortable that would be.

  74. Mary I am keeping Raquel in my thoughts and prayers. That is scary for sure. Hopefully, it will be something that can be removed completely and she will respond well to any follow-up treatment.

I take it that your schools will be opening and Matthew will be driving the kids again. Some places have started classes and then ended up closing again when someone gets sick. I hope he's able to stay safe and healthy. Kids are such germy little things in the best of times.

I need to do something to keep my mind distracted from how stuffy I feel it is in my house right now. The temp is in the low 70s but I really wish I could get some fresh air in here. Unfortunately, the air outside is not all that fresh now.

Yesterday I took the dog for her monthly veterinary visit to express her anal glands and then I took her to the local pet store for more treats and a squeaky toy to destroy. That's about it for me. Very boring life.

    ReplyDelete
  75. JustLin,I asked Raquel if she had heard from the Lab. She said they called Fri and she missed the call. Will call back Monday. Her Mother, Lena, said that Raquel is eerily calm, especially for her hyper personality. Not sure what to think of that.

SacBarb, the mask covers from below my eyes to my chin. I haven't worn liquid or powder make up in months, but i am thinking it might peel off when you pull it off.

Dianne, Wow, you avoided sitting at a table with the nasty woman! That would ruin a good show!

I went out to where the wasps were last night. I took a hoe and pulled away some of the tarp so I could see where they were so I could spray tonight. There is a nest about the size of a baseball. I checked them today and they were very active! I will wait until dark and spray the foam.

We went to a friends son's open house at a private rented location. Tables were far apart and some were wearing masks. We of course had our off while eating, but peeps kept stopping by to visit. We didn't stay long.

  77. Mary Yipee!!! That is wonderful news.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Mary....that’s great news! Thanks for letting us know.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Mary, that’s great news about Raquel. Did the doc say what caused that to happen?

I hope you are all covered up when you go out to spray those wasps. I realize they are not active at night, but if they’re disturbed they can get feisty and angry.

JL, How nice of your neighbors to bring you cookie dough and eggplant parm, which I love. I usually order that when we go to Italian restaurants. I have only cooked it twice and as I remember, it’s labor intensive. I am wanting some now! Is Ursula still going out with that woman who walks the dogs? You haven’t mentioned it lately.

The smoke in this area is really bad. We have been told to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. I don’t go outside at all and Chad only goes out to get the mail and 2-3 times to smoke. He is trying to quit, but that hasn’t happened yet. Even with those few times opening the door, we can still smell the smoke in the house. There are no fires close enough to endanger us except for the smoke.

Dianne, are you still on the fence about going to see the TT’s? I really worry about you being in that crowd even if they are talking precautions. We are all in the high risk category, including Louis.
The Senior Center near me where Sheenah and I were going to exercise class is starting virtual classes next Monday. I signed up for them. It should be interesting. I have never been on a Zoom call. They will be at 11:15am to 12:15pm which is a good time. I won’t have to get up early like when they had the class at the center at 8:00am!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hi....JL,I wish I had neighbors to bring us food. Maybe I’d make them a cake. Ha ha it’s a good sign your jeans are still fitting. My pants are stretch. Yes, the truck ass had a handicap or I would have called the police or someone. He scared me too. You will all get a. Huckleberry out of this. We were on the TTczoom last night and Marcus one of the tenors came on. He was kind of going around Checking in with us. He asked the annoying gal how she was and how we’re things going with her family. She went on and on but bottom line said her step mother hates her. Hmm. I thought to myself. He singled me out too and I was all a flutter. Lol

Barb, yes I think we’re going to Kansas. I still have apprehension but I’m taking our own sheet, pillow cases, Clorox wipes and can of Lysol and sanitizer and lots of masks. Thank you for caring about us. It means a lot. I’ll be interested how u do an exercise zoom class. You’ll,have to let us know.

Mary, I’m sure you all so relieved. We all are..scary. How’s Jim doing? Going to the casino lately? Met my Wyoming friend for lunch today. We had a nice catch up visit. Another friends husband went shooting with Louis yesterday and his wife and I had lunch while they were shooting. Louis enjoyed having someone go with him.

We had scary riots downtown again sat night. Thank goodness Todd wasn’t there. Started out peaceful then turned ugly.
    That’s about it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Dianne I LOL'd at you being "all a flutter" with the TT guy. No surprise that the annoying woman's stepmother hates her. It sounds like she would be very hard to like. I wonder who will agree to sit with her at the concert.

I had lunch outside at a local restaurant on Thursday. It's the first time I've done that since the pandemic started. I was with my friends Kathy and Lee who were celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary. It was a perfect day to sit outside; cool but not too cool and the breeze off the ocean had cleared away the smoke. Yesterday and today the smoke is back sod we had perfect timing for a pleasant meal. We ate at a rather new restaurant that is a hot pot restaurant. They had pulled their hot pot tables and booths out to the sidewalk and hooked up the electricity to the tables so we could cook our food. There was a lot of things on their menu that I would not touch with a 10 foot pole (like chicken feet) but I enjoyed my thin sliced chicken breast and vegetables.

I'm hoping your son stays safe.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Barb The air quality is really bad today and it was on Friday, too. It had improved for just Wednesday and Thursday as we had enough of a breeze coming off the ocean to give us a break. When these fires first started, my throat was killing me from so much coughing due to the bad air. I'm allergic to trees, weeds, and basically any plants, so it's kind of a double whammy for me to breath in smoke of burning trees and bushes. A few nights ago, it seemed like the air was pretty good late at night but after I took the dog out for her final potty, I had to use my rescue inhaler two times. Even today when I can smell the smoke, our air is so much better than it is in a lot of the Bay Area. My poor dog is pretty bored as I can't spend much time outside playing with her.

Speaking of my dog.....No, she doesn't go out with the active pack anymore as she has gotten too old to keep up with the younger dogs and run up the hills, etc. They kept having to wait for her to bring up the rear and on her last outing, she actually turned around and tried to return to the SUV. It had gotten too strenuous for her and not fair to the other, more spry dogs.

I really miss going to my local coffee shop and reading my Kindle while eating a late breakfast. The other day I ordered eggs over medium, crispy bacon, hash browns, and sourdough toast. I only live a mile away so the eggs and everything was still hot when I got them home. It really hit the spot.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Mary How did you make out with that wasp nest? Your poor dog didn't want all that on her kennel. Also, that was a very painful looking sting on your leg. How's it doing now? All healed up? I assume you eventually got the stinger out. I've only been stung once and I think it was a bee but I never saw it. It was in high school and I was outside and felt something behind my ear. When I reached up to check what it was, it stung me. Yikes! It sure did hurt! When my brother was little, he was playing outside and got stung on the tongue. That probably hurt worse than mine.

It's going to be another boring day here, staying inside and out of the smokey air. I made tuna casserole a couple of nights ago so I will probably finish that off for dinner.

What's happening with Matthew? Has he started driving the school bus?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hi....JL, I wouldn’t eat chicken feet either. We ate outside today too I met barb and she brought a guy we know for a surprise guest. It was fun to see him. We FINALLY had low 70’s with a breeze and light rain today. It was so nice sitting outside when it wasn’t 95. Our weather has been so dang hot. Most everyone has been complaining about it. We just aren’t used to it for this many days. Hopefully our fires received some of the rain too. Maybe whoever is sitting with that gal either doesn’t know or likes her. Maybe it’s just me that she irritates! Todd had to work extra last night and was assigned to the police station outside downtown. Oh my gosh , I was so worried about him. He’s off The rest of the weekend. Are there many people at your coffee shop or are you just uncomfortable to go inside? They don’t or didn’t make a little patio for this time? What else was on the menu for that chicken feet restaurant? I’m not crazy to go and cook my own food ..you know me and cooking. Louis and I filled our kitchen cabinet back up after having to empty it for repair. It went pretty fast with both of us doing it. I threw some things away too ..like stale chips, etc.

Mary, how are things going? I was wondering the same as JL if Matthew is back to work. Our schools are starting mostly Monday although some did last week. Ouch, I’ve never been bitten by a bee. Mary, it’s almost time next week to get our hair done again. I go Saturday.

Barb, same question...how are things going? Been doing anything? I go for my flu shot and b12 shot this week. Not too exciting plus I don’t care for needles. Boy, that cruise fall really created a large wide scar on my left arm. It looks terrible now that it’s actually healed. I’m glad I’m not young and trying to look cute or in the miss america contest! Lol

We are taking Andy and Wendy to an Italian place by our house for dinner tmrw night. They take us all out so often and it was her bday a couple of weeks ago and their anniversary in a couple more so we’re treating. I went to lunch with my aunt from Greeley Friday. It’s about two hours from here so we met half way. It was her retirement lunch as she just retired last week. That’s my life. Oh, I did get to have a lunch with em last week. I always enjoy that.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Dianne, I see you had lunch with Em. How is she doing? Is she going to college? How’s Kayla? You haven’t mentioned her for a while. Is Tammy’s leg all healed now? IThere is absolutely nothing going on here except we are trying to stay out of the smoke. It’s really been bad. Chad had to get a RX refill yesterday, so he got some groceries while waiting for it. It was supposed to be ready, because he called before he went, but for some reason he still had to wait. He did make the pot roast and we had leftovers for a second day. I still haven’t made the enchiladas but it may happen soon. In fact, Chad may make them. I keep saying I haven’t made them in so long, I’m not sure how good they will be. Usually when I start cooking he comes in to “see” how I’m doing and he’ll take over. I love it. When he was starting the pot roast, I was cleaning the veggies and he said how funny it is that roles have reversed. When he was young he often acted as my sous chef, cleaning and chopping the veg. He always liked to help with cooking.

J/L, It’s too bad the dog walker lady doesn’t have an older group of dogs that Ursula can go with and still get out with friends. We still have so much smoke. Chad has asthma and it’s been hard for him, especially. Of course the smoking doesn’t help, even tho it’s only 2-3 times per day. Our news just announced there is a group of 60-75 people wearing helmets and body armor marching through our downtown near the Capitol. They didn’t mention it they have weapons. It’s very unsettling even though it’s not close to my neighborhood. There is just too much crap going on! So far it has been a peaceful demonstration, but Friday there was a crowd that broke out windows and spray painted buildings. Some of the people carried big black umbrellas and opened them to hide the perpetrators whenever the media cameras were trying to film them. Most of them were wearing black clothing. It’s scary when that stuff happens.

Mary, How’s Raquel doing? I assume whatever was on her head has been completely removed. Thank goodness is was benign. I hope everything else is good in your world.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm not ignoring you gals! I have been really busy! I just finished an outside project and am really pooped! Had to do it while Jim was at the Casino and Matt at work lol! I work better alone!
    I'll check in tonight.......

    ReplyDelete
  87. It was supposed to be cooler today...NOT! I have been resurfacing Zoie's fenced in area. The grass completely died and only weeds were left. Our ground has a lot of clay, so it has been a 3 week job overturning the ground. The area is not all that big, but called for a lot of "hoe-ing around lol! I broke othe hoe and Jim bought me a new sharper one. What a guy! All the rain we have been getting has helped loosen the weeds. I laid rolls of grass growing, blankets. They need to be watered at least 3 times a day. I sure hope I get grass!! Zoie is getting impatient! I have been taking her out on her leash 3 or 4 times a day.
I tore off Queenie's outside kennel's tarp and replaced it with a new one. Again, my new hoe came in handy. The tarp is 10'x 15'. I had to use a ladder and my hoe to get the tarp over the kennel. Thanks goodness no wasps!!
I made supper walked Zoie and pooped!

JustLin,Raquel's lesion was removed and hoping it doesn't return. I have read where some have come back and even spread to other areas! Sometimes I hate "Google" lol!
The wasp nest was more half moon shaped. I think it had mostly been abandoned. Whew!I did cover myself pretty good, just in case!

Dianne,My hair appt is next Monday. We are pretty close! I got itchy when you mention you and your brother's bee stings!
Matthew is on his 2nd week driving bus. He doesn't appear to be as nervous as he originally was. He did say kids keep leaving their masks on the bus floor!

Barb. Except for FB and texts, I haven't been in contact with Raquel. She was furloughed for a couple of months, but back to work. She didn't say what the Dr told her. I know she has always loved the sun and wears no head coverings. Not sure if it was that, or all the stress she has been under. Who really knows eh?
BTW, yes, I was covered from head to toe when I went wasp hunting! I am sure I looked cute in my sweats, long heavy rain coat and boots lol!
I have been on "Hoarders" marathon! EEEEEEWWW!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Mary I think you got Dianne and I reversed but that's okay. LOL Also, I really LOL'd when you wrote, "I made supper walked Zoie and pooped!" Talk about painting a picture with words! Hahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Mary, That’s a lot of work you did turning the soil over and laying the sod. I’m sure Zoie appreciates it. It’s not surprising that Matthew finds masks on the floor of the bus. I posted a meme yesterday about kids trading masks in school. I think elementary age kids are too young to understand how important it is to not take their mask off except to eat lunch. I’m glad I don’t have any young-uns.

Dianne, I haven’t made the enchiladas yet, but Chad got tacos for Taco Tuesday and I ordered chicken enchiladas. It came with rice and beans. It was good, but I still wanna to make some.

JL, I have been working on updating my trust. My niece in San Jose has worked for an attorney for 17 years and she said some laws have changed since 1995, when I first did it, so she’s been helping me on the weekends. I feel really good about updating it, so the kids won’t have much to do when the time comes.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Hi.....mary...be prepared. It’s 95-100 thru Monday and then Tuesday the high is 45 and possible snow! That’s a little too soon for me! Could do without it forever. We’re supposed to meet some friends Tuesday in the mountains and they insist we eat outside. I have a feeling they will be canceling. Lol. I just purchased some lanyards for two of my friends grandkids that hook on to their mask and then they hopefully won’t lose it. I got them with their first name on them. It sounds like you’ve really been working! As usual.

Louis went for hearing test yesterday and ended up ordering hearing aides. He has up to six months to return them if they don’t work for him.
He has tinnitus so that could be a problem. At least he finally went for all of this yesterday.

Barb, em is doing good. She’s in her Jr year at Metro university. It’s here in Denver and it’s all online this year. She’s not thrilled about that as she’d like to get out sometimes. She is working as the receptionist at the place Kayla works so that helps her. Her boyfriend is going to school in Oklahoma. Kayla....well she’s doing very well at her job and they say she’s a color expert....if she would just get there on time! Her loser boyfriend will be 26 tnrw. She tells me he’s going through midlife crisis. Right....get a job! She’ll be 22 in October and I pray daily that she makes the right decisions. She still does her life around the boyfriend Ben. I just wish she’d be on her own with no boyfriend for awhile. All I can do is pray...and worry! Tammy is not quite healed and has a trainer now that is helping her through it ..she can wear shoes finally but it does give her some pain.

JL, it is too bad there isn’t a senior dog group. Is there such a thing? Todd says there is supposed to be more protests this weekend so he’ll volunteer for sat as its overtime. Not what I really want to hear. I missed my ttt zoom call this week as we were at dinner. Going to lunch with tam and em tmrw. Not much planned for weekend besides my hair and lunch on Sunday for tammy finally getting to meet my great niece. That’s about it.

  91. Hey my dear sweet friends.....I MISS YA ALL!!!!

Barb and Just-lin I have been thinking of you both so much with the heat and fires we've had to deal with. We also are not close enough to worry about evacuating but I have been sick for about a week from this smoke. Ir seemed every few days it would be a bit better but them get worse again. Today it's 112 at my house and I can't even see the park across the street. There's smoke sitting in the trees in my front yard and in the bushes as well. Today is the first time in two weeks that my car is covered in ash. I don't know what to think anymore....is this a test?!?! Lol

Even with all the things that everyone has to cope with these days believe it or not we have another kind of storm going on here. Two different homeowners here are just making life a horrible heck with all their complaints. I KNOW things are bad. But geeeze we all have our problems.....it may be getting more difficult to find ways to be happy but it's not impossible. I have so so much to be thankful for and I find so much happiness in the silliest things. Of course, ya all know I'm a bit goofy anyway πŸ€—

Dianne Speaking of blessings....September 10th NFL 2020 season starts!!!! Sept 13th my Seahawks πŸ’™πŸ’š play AND My RAIDERS πŸ–€πŸ–€ play the same day! then Sept 14th Broncos! 🧑🧑
I'm so dang excited I can't stand it 😍 Maybe you could whip up those enchiladas for the game? I'll be right over.

Mary I'm thinking of you AND Jim and hope he's feeling better. That sweet 'baby' of yours too, hug her for me ok? So sorry to hear about Raquel but thankful for her benign results. Will continue to pray nothing else comes up.

Well ya all....it's almost 5pm now and haven't eaten a thing since a hand full of cereal this morning. Thinking it's time to fix something. Probably a good salad, as most nights. I do love my salad!
Pleeeeeese stay safe and know I send lots of hugs and smooches to you AND your families.
    Seaside........πŸ₯°πŸΆπŸ˜»❤πŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ˜Ž

  92. Mary You work so hard. That must be what's keeping you young. My front and back yards have more dead grass now than living grass. I was out front last night watering the front yard as the air quality was better than it had been earlier. I know it won't really help unless I remind myself to do it on a regular basis. We've had weeks of smokey air now and it is not good for my asthma. I vacuumed the other day and felt like that was a big accomplishment. Oh, and I went grocery shopping, too. I really kind of overworked my bad shoulder and arm and it bothered me for the next two days. I have become a wimp!

My dog won't stay outside if the door is closed. I did forget her once out on the front porch so there is that. LOL It was only for a few minutes and my neighbor across the street came over and knocked on the door on my dog's behalf. Today I texted them to see if they were home because their dog was on their front porch alone. Oops! It happens to the best of us, I guess. Sequoia is their first born, so to speak, but now they have a 4 1/2 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. It's getting harder to keep track of everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Barb Have you made the enchiladas, yet? I made a rack of baby back ribs in the oven earlier today and they came out great! I have a gas stove but was worried about rolling black outs with the heat we've been having and the oven does have electric starter. Anyway, they were wanting us to conserve electricity especially between 3:00 and 9:00 so I made sure the ribs were done by 3:00. Anyway, I usually just do a simple rub on them but today I did a rub with more ingredients and then made a BBQ sauce from a recipe I found on line and put that on the ribs at the end and put them under the broiler for a few minutes. I actually forgot they were in there when I got distracted with FB. Thank goodness I remembered in time so they only are slightly charred in a couple of spots. Anyway, they are fall off the bone delicious. I ate a couple (quality control, you understand) and will have more for dinner. I'll probably make a fake baked potato in the microwave and an ear of corn. I'll have more ribs for tomorrow so might make potato salad then. That's my food update. LOL

So, I'm really not looking forward to the changes on DWTS. I don't think Tyra will be a good host for that show. If they replace the judges, too, it really won't be the same show. Why do they have to mess with success? I still think this is Tyra's fault since she's one of the producers. My other guilty pleasure is Big Brother which is airing now. This season they are calling All-Stars but of course that's debatable. My favorite guy from a much earlier season, Kaysar, was back so it's been fun seeing him again. I find him very attractive, both physically and personality-wise. He's more of a quiet, deep thinker, not like most of the Bozos on this show. Okay, that's my reality show update. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  94. Dianne Did you get your hair done? We still can't do that here. I'm not in any rush, really. It's kind of a revelation to see what my true hair color is now. Hot days like this and I sure wish it wasn't hanging down on my neck.

I can't believe you have snow on the way. What? It was nearly 90 here today which is really hot for us here on the coast. Plus, I've had to keep doors and windows shut because it was so smokey. Oh, and I had the oven on for a few hours at 275* earlier today. Anyway, the air is much better than it was earlier so I've opened the back door and a living room window to try and get some cooler air coming through. I wish there was a breeze but so far, nothing.

I should be the one taking my dog for easy walks but between the sciatica, the heat, and the smoke, it just isn't happening. I have to stay out of the smokey air because of my asthma and the fires have been going on for weeks.

I hope your son stays safe. I'm sorry he has to deal with this stuff. Peaceful protests are one thing but then when the sun goes down, the trouble makers make their move and the protest turns into something else.

I hope the hearing aids work out for Louis.

Oh, did you make the cake?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Seaside Oh, there you are! We thought we had lost you. Good to see you here again.

It sounds like the smoke is really, really bad for you today. And with 112* heat, to boot. I really feel sorry for you. Do you have A/C? I don't but it doesn't get hot here like it does for you there. How's Gidget dealing with the heat?

Sorry you still have homeowner complainers. I guess there's always going to be complainers no matter what you do. You can't please everyone. For some people, complaining is the excitement of their day. Sad, that.

I enjoy watching 49er games but I can't say I enjoy football or any other sport enough to watch any other team. Although, I am an avid Olympics watcher.

Hey, did you ever get things straightened out with Facebook?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dianne, I can’t believe snow is predicted so early. Maybe they are wrong. I sad to hear that Kayla’s boyfriend is another loser. It’s too bad she is attracted to that kind of guy. She must have low self esteem to hook up with guys that take advantage of her like that. I’ll keep praying for her, too. I was going to make the enchiladas, but Chad made burritos instead and used ground beef. He made a big batch so there’s enough left over to make the enchiladas. He is going to do that tomorrow. I, too, hope the hearing aids work for Louis.

Seaside, Nice to see you back in the nest. I’m so sorry you have to deal with those complaints. I think people in general are complaining more, for a number of reasons and having to stay home or wear a mask when going out doesn’t help.
We have had some really smokey days for weeks. Just when I think it’s clearing a little, another fire happens. On the plus side, it was ‘only’ 109° here today, instead of 111°. It still broke a record for September.

JL, I feel the same way about DWTS. I used to watch BB for the first few seasons and I don’t remember why I stopped. It was probably because something else caught my eye that I liked better.
I haven’t gotten my hair done since March and it’s down to my shoulders. I don’t like it at all. I asked Chad if he will help me color it and he thinks I should just let it go grey, but I don’t want to do that.
Our news mentioned that PG&E is going to shut electricity for 17 counties. Is your county one of them? We have PG&E for gas only, so Sac isn’t in that group.

Mary, you work too hard. I get tired just reading about what you’re doing. Have you had to use the new generator yet?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Justlin, Every day I swear I am not going to do a thing, then I'm off, like a prom dress lol!! How sad is it that I am so bored that I have been watching grass grow! I am talking about Zoie's outdoor potty place lol! It's finally growing! I got tired of walking her 3-4 times a day to do her business, so I spent a few hrs putting up another temp, fenced in place for her. I think she was tired of me too, because she has been going out there a lot ha ha!

SacBarb,Yes, our power was out for 3 hrs a few days ago. It was heaven not stressing about the outages anymore! We have been having a lot of high winds and rain this week. I am so-no-ready for winter!! At least I have most of my outdoor chores done. I still have to clean out the garden. I have a few tomatoes left. I am going to miss going out there and picking them for dinner. I still have my basil (not Max's) in pots on my patio.

Dianne, Booh on the snow!! Way too early, especially right after high temps! Crazy Mother Nature!! I don't get my hair done until this Thursday. My stylist forgot about the Monday Holiday when she made my appt. Good thing I called to check. She would not have been there!
I made tacos and rice today, got my bedding changed, all laundry done and put away, walked Jim's dog while he was at Casino, and did a bit of gross-ery shopping.
Tomorrow I am taking a day off lol. I am meeting friend for lunch while practicing social distancing. We did good last month.

Seaside, good hearing from you. I am like you, I hate controversy! I have no time for such things! Life is short and I will be dammed if I let anyone or anything bring me down. I like to see the world through rose colored glasses lol. I mind my business and enjoy life. Once in a while life throws me a curve, but that's ok, it keeps me on my toes :) I hear when your dead, your dead a long time, so why waste it with foolishness. :)

  98. Mary Good on you for grabbing the 100 spot. I forgot all about marching like we did in the old days.

  99. I met up with my GM friends Wed. and enjoyed seeing them. It had been a long time! There were 10 of us.
Thurs. I got my hair did. Still have to wear the stick-on-face mask. She doesn't want me to wear mine because the dye would ruin it.
Amazing that I have done no outside work for two whole days lol. I did fill up the bird feeder and suet cage.
A couple of bus drivers from Matthew's group have been diagnosed with the virus. So far he has not been affected.

My childhood friend Sylvia was diagnosed a couple of weeks after I visited her She was ill for a couple of days, then bounced back. On the other end, My elderly lady friend also from my home town wrote me that a good friend of hers from Mexico, had passed due to the virus. He was in his 80s and not sure what his health was at the time. My friend was very sad.
Jim has not had any dizzy spells. He says, if he feels even a tiny bit dizzy, he finds a place to sit (at the Casino). At home he is still moving slow and tires a lot.

I have been watching the news on the fires. It is so scary! The air quality must be terrible! I think of my owls and hope none have to be evacuated or have health issues.
    Stay save all!!

  100. Howdy. Perfect day today...sunny and 70. We r going back up in the 90’s next week. Louis was able to put our flowers back out from the freeze the other night. I’m living though all my tennorette friends that are In Branson going to their shows. Lots of pictures. I’m envious of them. Who knows when I’ll ever get to see them again. I did get a new cd by my favorite one this week. When u r on the zoom cal e dry Sunday night it gets u excited listening to others going to shows. Our freak snow helped our fires a lot. They r still burning but it gave the firefighters a jump on them. I worry about you ca Gals and Bonnie in Oregon.

Mary, glad Jim isn’t having so many dizzy spells. Does he go to casino much? I see our casinos just are opening the gaming tables this weekend. My friend just came back from a week in Vegas. She said they had fun ..any talk about you both going soon? I’ll bet it was nice to see your friends again. Did you go to a restaurant? I use a paper disposable mask when I get my hair done and then rinse out for next time.

Barb, Kayla does have low self esteem plus she thinks she can fix everyone. She really needs counseling since Jake and now Ben ..two losers EM went to bens 26th bday party of about 40. She Said there was a big guy fight in the street. She left and doesn’t want to go,back. These two girls are so different. Em won’t take shit from anyone. Kayla will.

JL, I gave all the cake makings and pan to barb and she’s going to make them. One for Louis’s bday on the 22nd. You knew I’d never get around to it. Yes, I got my hair done....highlights and lowlights. It’s looks nice..the color. I’m glad we can go here. I’d hate to wait as long as you and barb have had to wait.
..nails too. I don’t think I told you all that we aren’t going on our texas tenor trip to Kansas next week. It’s been postponed until dec 13. I’m really disappointed since wed finally made the decision to go. I canceled hotel and got a refund on tickets. Now I re-did the hotel reservations again just in case it’s not snowing that weekend. I have no idea if any show tickets will be available ..just playing it by ear. They will be in Kansas again in March so maybe.....

Seaside...great to see you. Hope you’re doing ok with all these fires and smoke. We have our own fires and smoke and now they say we are getting calif smoke too. Awful outside. Sorry you’re having issues again with you hoa. Is it that same lady? I didn’t really watch the game last night just checked the scores with Louis. I for sure will watch Monday night game this week. Go,broncos.
