  1. Happy Thanksgiving, Hooters! I hope you all have a pleasant and safe day. I am very thankful to have a roof over my head and good food to celebrate this day. Although I am not with my family, I know they are safe and enjoying their own delicious dinners today.

  2. I’m grateful for the same things today. Tammy has covid and bronchitis so her hosting was canceled. She’s in bed and James is taking care of her. Everyone enjoy food and the day.

  4. Dianne, Sad to hear Tammy is ill. Covid & bronchitis! That sucks!
    How have you been?
JustLin, There is a lot to be grateful here also. My health, good friends, warm home, and healthy family. Lots lots more :)
I have started my Christmas shopping online. Last year I waited too long to order stuff and some things were no longer available.
Tomorrow is small business shopping. I will be doing a bit of that to help our local economy.
I hope you all survived turkey/ham day!!

  6. Dianne I'm so sorry to hear about Tammy being in the hospital with COVID and double pneumonia. I hope the medicines they have her on will do their magic and that she recovers fully with no after effects. What about James? Is he in quarantine in case he has COVID now, too? This, on top of the situation with your brother, must have you very stressed out. I'm glad you have Louis there with you. I'm also very thankful that you have been keeping your distance and staying safe from getting infected.

On a brighter note, I finished addressing my Christmas cards. Since my car is in the shop due to having the catalytic converter stolen off of it, I am not sure when I will get the cards mailed. I just got word today from the insurance adjuster that work has been approved and the auto shop has been given the okay to work on my car today. They had already ordered the part and has it on hand. I also ordered a shield to put over it so it won't be stolen again. Since the insurance adjuster is sending me a check for $500 because I didn't get a rental car, that money will cover the cost of my deductible. I will just be paying for the shield which will be $295. After having to pay for a new water heater a couple of weeks ago, I really didn't need this expense. Oh, well. This year is going out with a bang, isn't it?

  7. Mary I've done a little bit of Christmas shopping online, mostly for my daughter and for the two little kids across the street. My son and his family are getting gift cards. It's just too hard to shop for them. My brother and I have decided to forego the gift giving to each other this year. We would just be exchanging gift cards, anyway. Kind of silly. I still plan to make fudge and cookies to send to him and my son's group. My daughter will be here so at least I won't have to box goodies up for her to be mailed.

It doesn't get cold here they way you get cold but I swear I haven't been able to warm up lately. It is cold and damp. It's like that here every year because at this time of year my street is in the shade. I'd feel warmer if I would go to the street right below me where the sun is shining. I watch TV at night with a blanket throw over me because it seems no matter how high I set the thermostat, I'm still cold. I'd just as soon not crank up the heat and pay for the cost if it works better for me to just put a blanket on. I think when my daughter comes for Christmas, the heater will be cranked up 24/7. LOL

  8. Barb I missed having DWTS to watch with you last night. Looking forward to the Bachelorette drama tonight.

I came across a Christmas ornament that my dog's dog walker person had made her with her name on it and I had a breakdown. She's been gone for over two months now and I still can't think about her or talk about her without crying. I can't remember if I told you but week before last, I was talking to my financial advisor guy on the phone and I started crying about my dog and that made him start crying, too. It was ridiculous. I'll start crying now if I think about it anymore.

I made reservations for Christmas Eve for my daughter and I to go to the fabulous steakhouse that we went to last year. However, now our country is back into the Purple Tier, so no indoor dining. I'm keeping the reservation just in case of a miracle and things change by then. I don't have much hope because we haven't even seen the surge that is coming from the Thanksgiving holiday. If people would just follow the rules, we would get through this better and maybe so many small businesses would not be gone for good.

  9. Seaside Well, believe it or not, your "decorated" tree inspired me to get out the holiday decorations and tree. I put up my decorations and wreath on Sunday. By the time I was done with that, my lower back was hurting me so I put off dealing with the tree until yesterday. I used to always have to get a very big real tree but now that I am older and alone, I changed to a small artificial one a few years ago. It's pre-lit (thankfully) and only 3 feet tall so why does it still feel like it takes forever to decorate it?

Hopefully, my car will be ready to be picked up later today so I guess I have to make myself presentable for the public. LOL I've been shuffling around in my "stay at home/do housework" clothes for the last few days. I never go out to the public without my makeup on. It's bad enough that I now have silver hair. With no makeup, I look even older. Boo, hiss.

  10. Hi....seaside. Your card arrived today...it’s so cute. I love it. Slow mail. That Gidget is adorable. Where is your picture? Did you hear we played wqithout a quarterback Sunday! Our fill in was in sales last week. Our three qbs went to a meeting without a mask with someone who tested positive the next day. They should have let us postpone game.

Louis wasn’t feeling good today and had a fever. Called dr and he has a virtual appt and covid test on Thursday. He’s much better tonight. We do not need anymore illness!

JL...we are one step from purple. I really thought it would go that way Friday but I’m sure soon. Can you get your steak dinner to go? I know it sure wouldn’t be the same but at least you’d have it. I’m glad you decorated for Christmas especially since your daughter will be there. It will make it more festive. Did you get your car back today? What a pain. I’m sorry you’re feeling sad about Ursula. It just creeps up on you when you least expect it, doesn’t it? Well...James goes for test tmrw, which he’s not thrilled about as he still thinks Tammy has bronchitis (which she does) but he’s not too sure about the covid. Irritates the heck out of me. So....I don’t know if he’s quarantining and didn’t ask but I “think” he is ..I sure hope so. He at least feels ok right now.

Mary.. we r having cold again for two days and then back up to nice for a few days. I have a slight cough too but not anything much. We sorted through gifts again today to take a load to my friends granddaughter to wrap. I’m sure she’s getting tired of it. I so bought too much once again this year. I for once am telling myself to cut back next year. It’s ridiculous.

Barb, how are you doing? Have you been online shopping? Thank goodness for online. I think Louis is replacing my iPad for my Christmas gift. I kind of wanted some studs but don’t really need more jewelry. I’ll get it early as he will send this one back for some rebate.

  11. Dianne I always decorate for Christmas but I don't think I've ever done it this soon in the season. I need to get going on the baking, though. I bake and then freeze it until it's time to mail it.

The steakhouse where we have reservations for Christmas Eve is at least 30 minutes away, maybe 40, so it's kind of far for pick-up. It's a really nice place so part of the point of going was to just do something a little up-scale. It's called the Porterhouse and is in San Mateo if you want to Google it. I do have a nice ham being delivered so we can always have a nice dinner at home or we can pick up a prime rib dinner from a nice restaurant here in town. We'll see.

Yes, I got my car back today. Yay!

  12. Hi all. It has been a long tiring, sad week.
One of my Gen. Motors lady friend, her hubby and son have been hospitalized with the virus. The son passed away last night. He was the youngest, strongest and least likely to die. The Dad is doing better, but my friend "Inga" has an oxygen level of 80. Anything below 90 is dangerous! She was very close to her son. We are all shook up by this :(
All three were retired from GM.
Matthew's birthday is tomorrow. I picked up his cake today and did a bit of gross-ery
    shopping.
Jim & I have DDS appts tomorrow about the same time. I will be making Matthew his fave. dinner. Home made pizza.

Dianne, I have been thinking about all of you and saying prayers. Matthew worries about getting the virus and bringing it home to us.I can't believe they are still open! Most schools around us are doing viral schooling. One of the drivers h as a family member who has been around someone with the virus, but they tell him he hasn't been around the driver long enough to catch it! I swear, I will sue if one of us winds up hospitalized...or worse! It's a scary situation for everyone!

JustLin, Jim likes the house pretty warm. I sleep with no heat, just Zoie to keep me warm lol. Matthew shuts his door since his room is upstairs, as heat rises and gets pretty hot for him. Jim has his bedroom heat cranked up! I about suffocate in there when I change his bedding! My Dad liked it hot too! We would turn the thermostat waaay down when he went to work!

Barb, how are you? I miss your commenting. Are you keeping warm?

Seaside. You have shamed me into getting my rear in gear card wise lol. I have no excuse except for all this dang house and yard work. Hopefully I can settle down and get started. I have the cards, stamps and addresses to print out, just need to save time out of my day.

  13. JL, I Chad likes to keep the temp way down because he gets really hot, so I have a small Dyson heater I keep by the computer and it keeps me warm. Then on my bed I have a heated mattress cover that I love. I turn it on before I go to bed and usually I can turn it off when I go to bed and I’m good. Mellie likes to sleep under the covers for part of the night and that helps keep me warm too. I had to take her to the vet for a check up today so I could get a refill for her kitty prozac. I started giving it to her again after the second time she peed on my bed. Both times I didn’t see it until midnight when I was about to get into bed! Had to strip the bed and get all clean linens. The second time was the same and only two nights later. Needless to say, I wanted to throw her out, but of course I didn’t. So I started her on the meds again and so far so good. I have to wrap her up with a towel like a burrito to confine all her limbs, but she likes that, so we cuddle for a while before and after I shove the pill down her throat.

Seaside, I hope the Raider game is better this week than last week. We were so hoping for a better second half, but we ended up not even watching the whole game. Chad got disgusted and I fell asleep!

Dianne, I am glad Tammy’s home and I hope she’s feeling better. I also hope James is practicing safe distancing and wearing a mask when he’s out to keep Tammy safe, too. I don’t get why people are so resistant to wearing a mask! It’s for everyone’s sake.

Mary, I’m glad Matthew is being conscientious about the virus. And exactly how long does one have to be around someone who is positive for the virus before they are in danger of catching it? I’m thinking any amount of time is too long! I’m not doing much shopping. I’m just getting gift cards. Josh and Allie bought a house, so I’m sure they can use it to but something they need. As for the other kids, they are saying they don’t need anything, so a gift card will be good for them, too. I have no littles to buy for. I wish I did. It was so much more fun to shop for them.
