This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Happy St Paddy's Day! Meatloaf burgers with taters and veggies here. Matthew is the only Irishman here and he hates corned beef lol!
I had to make an appt. with the MI Lottery office to get my check tomorrow. Before COVID, you could walk in anytime. Oh well, I have sighed my ticket and it will still be good tomorrow lol! I have been cleaning all day inside and outside. Jim decided to go to the Casino again. What is wrong with this picture?
Hi all. I don’t know why there’s so much space between my little joke and this post. Sorry!
I have some good news and bad news! The good news is, I met with the branch manager at the credit union and after whining and giving him all my arguments for appealing their policy not to accept second party checks for deposit, they have agreed to accept the checks I have for Marie if she signs them over to me. Yayyy for that! However, I still need to get her an ID from DMV to add her name to the account for future deposits. The problem there is, she needs an ID in the name of Marie and it requires proof of her name. So we’re back to the frikkin birth certificate that doesn’t match any of her other records! I did get her Baptismal certificate from the church that also has Maria as her name. Jacob, the bank manager, suggested I go in to talk to a DMV rep and plead my case. Maybe they will take pity on these two old ladies. Having worked for the State for 36 years, 16 of which was at the Governor’s Office, I kinda know they are NOT sympathetic at all! Rules are rules! It’s usually not just policy, but in the constitution. However, I’m still going to try. Also, the credit card rep told me the investigation was completed and she would get a check for $19,000+ In 7-10 days. That was over two weeks ago and no check. So I called on Tuesday to ask about and was told it was NOT complete and they are reducing the amount to $8,000+ but after talking to 6 different people and two hours, I was “mysteriously” cut off. I did not have the energy or patience to call back. Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow! This has mostly consumed my life since July. I’m very tired!
Dianne, To answer your question, my Hubby died 8 days before his 52nd birthday. My oldest son is now older than his Dad ever was and Chad turned 50 last Sept. Todd is 48 today.
SacBarb, That CC, issue sounds a bit weird! Why the big difference in $ ? I wonder how many elders out there are being swindled and their families not knowing? I sure hope it all gets straightened out!
I went back to the Lottery office in Lansing after forgetting my ticket the first time (Duh). There was a man there ahead of me waiting to get hie $50,000.00 check! He was very nice and gabbed a long time lol! . A few days ago I took Zoie for a ride and we stopped at our favorite park. There was a couple there taking a biker break. He had a beautiful bright, expensive Harley bike. He said he keeps it in his living room lol! Not sure I believed him. Anyway he too was quite a chatterbox. Cute and sweet. His gf was nice, but barley got a word in. Looked like she was used to it lol!!! I tucked my money away in my Credit Union. I came home with treats and a new collar for Zoie ha ha!
Happy day after st Pats Day. Well, our day was not quite what I’d planned but you all saw my Louis update…I did send it, right? Today is sat and barb picked up lunch and we had Chinese. It was very good….a different place. Of course she did a couple of things for us. I think I’ll meet her tmrw for either breakfast or lunch. I think I can leave louis now. He’s using a small walker but still having that left leg sharp pain. I’ll Just go close by to be safe. This has been yet another unplanned issue. I think we r done with surgeries for quite some time.
Mary, I’m so excited for you to have won that money. No special plans for it, right? Go on a trip somewhere fun. Yes, what is wrong with that picture of you cleaning and Jim at the casino? Maybe you should get a cleaning lady. I presume Jim’s sons are there now. Doing anything fun? Be ready …..more snow coming Tuesday here.
JL, no corn beef and cabbage here. We don’t like cabbage and I don’t care for corned beef. We had nothing green for dinner. I remember younger days of taking my little niece at the time to the parade and later without here meeting friends at Duffys Cafe. So fun with green beer, etc. those were the days of lots of fun!
Barb, your husband died young. Joe was 57 at his time of death. They were both so darn young. I was 53. Happy birthday to your son. Long time ago too. Well, to change the subject denver is very excited to have Russell Wilson as our new QB. He and his family seem like a very nice family. They were already involved with Childrens Hospital and have been to the Denver one. We need a leader like that here. We’re hoping with Nw players, new QB and a new coach this year. We shall see. We moved up on the super bowl chart! We may be a contender this year so be careful.
Bev, I didn’t see you on here. Maybe I should look under the last blog subject. We miss you and seaside a lot.
Barb and JL, what do u both think of having two girls on bachelorette this time? Is one from Denver? They say they won’t be competing against each other. I might just might watch it or probably live through both of your reports.
Well, the guys leave for Montana in the morning. Long trip home. It was nice having them here. I found out from them that they talked to their Dad about making his final funeral preps.I was surprised they brought it up to him. They also told him to be sure that I am well taken care of since I have been taking care of him all these years.Wow, I couldn't believe it! They ask for nothing. I wonder what he thought of that? He has never been one to talk about such things. I cooked a big homemade burrito dinner, with Spanish rice, beans asparagus, and guacamole. Zoie got her hair did today. I get mine done Thurs.
Mary. That’s great they not only talked to Jim about funeral things but that they told you. Very nice to be sure your included…..as you should be for sure. It’s also nice that you like them so much. Are they married? Children? Did you do anything fun while they were here besides cook?
Well, going up n the 70,s this weekend and yes, we r going to try that weekend get away again this week. Louis is much better but still has a slight pain in his calf. I now have all my show tickets for Branson in October. I think I already mentioned this but we r going to see Terry Bradshaw on night. I’m looking forward to that fun night. Doing this early we got pretty good wheelchair seats although sometimes I transfer like for TTT as we then can get in row 2. We will hopefully stay in time share for three days and then hotel. We r going with Judy and gordon..my cousins from Texas. Should be fun. I have mixed feelings of wanting it to hurry and get here but then that means winter is starting up again!
We r in Estes park in the mtns tonight. We arrived about 1:30: and our cabin was ready. We got the handicap one this time with bars. Only issue is the toilet is so low it should be for preschool. We went to a little pharmacy two min before it closed tonight and got a riser for it. I couldn’t get down or off without Louis I guess this is my souvenir for the weekend! Three days up here with needing Louis for the pot was too much. We go to dinner with my friends tmrw night. We went for Italian tonight, Mexican tmrw night and bbq Sunday night. We brought a lot of snacks too ..junk things the weather is nice except for wind and that puts a chill out for sure. I have a couple of projects I brought with me too. Well…things are quiet on the blog for the last few nights. Time for nudges pretty soon.
I think it's very strange that your handicap room has a low toilet. That doesn't even make sense. I have a tall toilet in my house because my husband was 6'4" and that's what he wanted when we remodeled the bathroom. I'm sure glad to have it, as well as the two hand bars he had installed in the tub/shower. As for the toilet, I'm so used to it that all standard toilets feel too low to me now and some are even lower than standard height.
It sounds like you'll be having some nice dinners while you are there. What does Louis do while you are working on the projects you brought with you? Did his calf give him much trouble during the drive there or is it pretty much recovered now?
Barb Well, I bit the bullet and got a new phone. I continued with an Android and it's enough of a learning curve for me without switching to iPhone. I went to my local Verizon store with intentions of looking at phones and ended up just going with the one they had a promotion for because it was this year's Edge which is Android and they were giving $300 off. That was good enough for me. OMG, was it ever a trial to get info from my 9 year old little mini Droid transferred over to the new phone! My phone was so old that they didn't want to talk to each other. Only two people in my contact list showed up on new phone; Mary and another contact. The young man helping me had to go through all sorts of gymnastics to get all the info into the new phone. Then we came to the problem of my email address which is also a very old one from Yahoo and none of the other responders out in ethernet want to deal with it. LOL He finally managed to get that onto the new phone. All of this business took a LONG time. I felt sorry for the guy. He was all excited when he finally got the email problem sorted out. He said he did learn something during the process, so that was good. I guess I learned that I shouldn't wait another 9 years before getting a new one. Anyway, I still don't really know much about my new one. I know how to text and how to answer a call. LOL
Are you still watching Big Sky? I think I'm getting bored with it. I'm not sure about Courtship, either. It moves kind of slow.
Your conversations with the credit card reps sound confusing, for sure. Have you had any more talks with them? You must be so frustrated with this.
Mary You are a saint! You are so good to those men. I hope your visitors appreciated the work that goes into feeding them and that you even slept on the floor! I would not have been willing to do that. One of them should have been on the floor. Maybe you could get a blow up mattress for when they visit again. One of them could sleep on that and you could remain in your own bed. I'm glad they talked to their father about final arrangements and making sure you are taken care of. That's definitely a good thing.
Sorry, but LOL at forgetting your lottery ticket. At least it was enough to be worth the back and forth trips. I never buy lottery tickets. Maybe I should start.
It looks like we'll be getting some rain on Sunday evening. It is so badly needed here. I'm going with a friend to another friend's house that is about 40 minutes away to watch the Academy Awards together and eat good food. I hope the rain doesn't start until after we're safely in our own homes again.
Justlin, I will definitely look into an air mattress! I really messed up my sciatica and pulled some muscles when trying to get off the floor mattress! I made an apptm, with my Chiro. to put things back in place lol! We have had rain for 3 days. This morning we woke up to snow and heavy winds. Spring really teased us last week :(
Dianne, We didn't do anything while the guys were here. It was a hurried trip to visit with us, their Mother and many cousins. They did take a sauna while here and ate pretty good lol. They always appreciate my cooking. They called to let us know they made it home.
SacBarb, I had to think a sec about your joke lol! I am slow!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! I have corned beef simmering on the stove. Is anyone else having the traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner today?
ReplyDeleteHappy St Paddy's Day! Meatloaf burgers with taters and veggies here. Matthew is the only Irishman here and he hates corned beef lol!
