~ Happy Father's Day ~

  1. Hello, Ladies. We've been very quiet for quite a while.

I'm pretty shaken by Bonnie's unexpected death. My 75th birthday was just 9 days before hers and I'm pretty sure she was in better health than I am. She certainly wasn't grossly overweigh like I am. Maybe this will help me get serious about trying to lose weight. I think I mentioned before that I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life. My friend Jane has lost quite a bit of weight in a relatively short time by avoiding carbs or at least replacing bad carbs with better ones like what are in fruits and veggies. It's a thought.

I had a great time visiting my daughter in Eugene. She kind of ran me ragged which was actually good for me as I haven't done any real walking since my dog died almost two years ago. Unfortunately, my back and sciatica problems (made worse by my weight) really makes prolonged walking very unpleasant. Anyway, we went to the Cascades Raptor Center which was interesting and went out to dinner at a really nice Italian restaurant where I met my daughter's boyfriend, Jason, for the first time. The next day, she and I went to the town of Sisters and walked around the town perusing gift shops. It was more crowded than we expected because there was a rodeo in town. We stopped on the way to Sisters to enjoy a waterfall. The next day went to the outdoor market that they hold in Eugene every Saturday and had breakfast close by with Jason. A while later we went to see the new Top Gun movie which was great. I really like my daughter's boyfriend. It was so nice of my daughter to purchase the plane tickets for me and I really enjoyed by visit.

Yesterday, my friend, Jane, and I went to see the new Top Gun. Even though it was my second time seeing it, I totally enjoyed it all over again. I highly recommend it.

Tonight I will be taking my friend, Kathy, out to dinner. We alternate monthly on who pays. I am definitely getting the better end of the deal because she's the one who really likes to cook and she has me over for dinner often and always send me home with leftovers.

  2. Hey wow! I made it!!

@JL I want to go see Top Gun! I heard it was good. I hear you about being overweight. I am struggling bad with no motivation to even try! It is terrible!

We had a nice weekend. My sister and I took my Mom up to Muncie, Indiana on Fridayto Saturday. We got to do all kinds of fun things. Then we went to Indy and had dinner with my brother on the way home. It really lifted my Mom’s spirits.

I am so shocked about Bonnie. Very sad for her family and for you that were closer with her too. What a kind lady!! If one of you hear anything about what happened, let us know!

I am dogsitting Daisy again while my son goes on a work trip. She is a big girl but so sweet!

Glad I finally made it back!

  5. Hi….I didn’t realize it had been so long since we all were on here. It’s terrible about Bonnie. At first I thought it was her mom too. I was shocked. She just got that new house, their big trailer. I am very sad.
We’re watching the Stanley cup finals since colorado is in it. It’s pretty exciting. We went to Greeley for Father’s Day to a bbq at my uncles. Not much of a turnout but still fun. Louis went to see top gun for the second time with barb Saturday afternoon. I really wasn’t interested in seeing it. Louis went yesterday with Andy to see Jurassic park. We are going Saturday to see the new Elvis movie. It looks pretty good with Tom hanks. I saw the Elvis guy on Fallon the other night and he seemed good too. We rented a movie a week ago I think called allAmerican. Jl, u might be interested in it. It all about Kurt Warner It was a really good movie. Louis’s shots r still working…mine, not at all. I go back to Dr Tuesday so we will see if there r other options. I seriously can’t go on like this forever.
JL, sounds like you had a great trip. That was really nice of your daughter to get the plane tickets. I’m glad you had a good time. Nice that u like the boyfriend too. That always helps. Is this a new boyfriend since she moved? What’s everyone been doing? I went to my nieces yesterday after getting hair done to see the babies. They r so darn cute. Lydia is 2 now and Uriah is six months. He’s already 20 pounds and heavy.
Well, it looks like the gas tax might be taken off briefly for three months. I wish it was for four to cover our Branson trip in October…but, I’ll take anything. JL, how much is your gas now? Our unleaded is about $4.89 gal. Well, that’s about it. Hope to see everyone on here. Thanks for the nudge JL.,

  7. Dianne - She is good. Getting better daily. My sister leaves July 10th but we think she will be ready to be back on her own by then. She is driving to PT now. She is still struggling with her speech but improving. Thank you for asking.

I am sorry to hear your shots are not working. That has to be upsetting. Hoping Biden extends the gas tax relief through your Branson trip!! Glad he is taking action to provide some financial relief.

  9. Hi all!
We have been having unusually high temps earl,y for Michigan. Our grass is starting to dry up and I am constantly watering my flowers and tiny garden. I only planted 2 tomato plants, one row of red potatoes, two rows of sweet corn, one hill of cukes & one hill of melons. I am growing some basil from seed in the indoor hydro planter Matthew gave me for Christmas. I will transplant in a week or two. Matthew bought me a small cultivator that helps enormously! My garden looks so much neater and weed free. I do tend to over do the cultivator and wind up with a sore shoulder, but it isn't too bad.Jim is unable to help me anymore. That is why my garden is so small. We are surrounded by many local farm markets/cash croppers, so I can get my fresh veggies from them.

I am still reeling from losing our Bon :(

Bebbi, I am so glad your Mother is improving. I am also glad you live nearby.
Tell her I still cherish the bears and little vest she made, out of my late Mother's dress to put on them.

Justlin. What a fun trip you had! How awesome that your daughter has a boyfriend and that you like him :) Mothers know! I do worry about all my owls health. It is so hard to stay active, but please do it gently! You know how I tend to over do! My Chiro helps a lot! I was having funny fluttering under my breast bone when I laid down at night. It went on for a week and scared me. I mentioned it to my Chiro. He had me lay on my back and ran his palms up and down that area. I have not had one "fluttering" incident since. He also takes care of my neck, shoulder and sciatica. Even helps with my allergies.

Dianne. I am so sorry your shots aren't working and you are still in pain :(
What is the next game plan? Crazy how it helped Louis and not you.
Our gas prices are still over $5.00

    Barb,where art thou?

Seaside, It is unreal how our temps have been as high if not higher than yours! We are not used to it, at least not so many hot days in a row! My son is sure glad school bus driving is down for the summer! Those buses do not have AC!

foot n ote: I took a break from writing here and helped Matthew unload some groceries he bought.
He had two cases of hi Diet Fago to unload and his back was hurting again. I grabbed one and headed towards the kitchen when my sandal got caught on the runner. Down I went,,, hard! Zoie came running and Matthew was terribly upset! I assured him I was ok and nothing was broken.
H e wanted to help me up. I told him I was going to just sit there for a minute. He took off to h is Jeep and carried the other case in. Now we are both hurting! I have ice on my knee and took some Motrin. I got the wind knocked out of me a bit. I know better than to go too fast. I just preached that too JustLin lol! Oye Vey, what can happen in a split second!
