  1. Tapping toe waiting for the icy roads to melt and for spring to be "sprung".
Weather is crazy everywhere! I hope you are all doing well.

  2. Well, we survived another storm. Kids got 2 days off of school.
We are having a heat wave next week with temps in the high 30s, to low 40s!!
I see parts of Cali had snow for the first time. Crazy Mother Nature!
Everyone is napping but me. Not much else to do when it is cold and the ground is snow covered with a layer of ice on top! Zoie decided to poop on a slope and I about did the splits trying to retrieve it lol!
    Hope someone post soon :(

  3. Mary Yes, it's been crazy weather here. There was heavy hail at my house but some places in the Bay Area actually got snow. It's been decades since that happened. I swear I think I've been feeling cold for about a month now. No matter how many layers I put on, I don't quite feel warm enough. I am definitely getting good use out of my electric blanket these days. I only turn it on to the lowest level but it makes all the difference in the world.

Speaking of dogs, my neighbors across the street returned from an outing today. After a while, I noticed their dog standing in front of their garage. I called over and asked, "Is anybody outside with Sequoia?" I guess with the two little kids, the two parents, and a visiting grandmother, they had assumed when the gang all went into the house, that it was everybody. LOL They are extremely good dog parents and basically think of Sequoia as their first born.

  4. Barb I'm sorry about the passing of your family members. I just found out that a woman I knew and liked passed away yesterday. I didn't know until I received her Christmas card that she had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and was responding well to drugs but that they would lose their effectiveness with time. She was diagnosed in September of 2021 and given the prognosis of 3 to 12 months to live.

    On to other things......

I've been putting together stuff for my taxes and trying to fill out the elaborate worksheet that came from my tax accountant's office. The main guy was my tax accountant but he retired this year so it's now his daughter and maybe another accountant in the office. I used to just hand stuff to Jerry and he'd figure it out. I can do the deductions and some of my income but when it comes to the Capital gains, Mutual funds, etc., etc., I'm lost. I don't have all those documents yet, so that's a pain in the butt, too. It gives me a headache.

For a good laugh, watch "Nate Bargatze, Hello World" comedy special on Amazon Prime. I thought it was hilarious and who can't use a good laugh?

  5. Dianne Are you home? And the bigger question, are you unpacked? Did you actually wear everything you took with you or did you overpack. I have a tendency to overpack. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. The pics I saw look like you all were having a great time. I never saw a pic of Louis with a scooter. Did he not have one, after all?

Anyway, we are looking forward to hearing about your trip as we are all traveling vicariously through you.

  6. Well, we are having another crazy storm. Snowing at low altitudes. I saw where it snowed in Santa Barbara. We got some high wind again and rain. I got a package yesterday and the delivery person just dropped it over the gate, so it was soaked even inside. Luckily, the water didn’t ruin what was inside the box. Nothing else is going on here. I hope all is well with all of you.

  7. Hello. I’m home and pretty much unpacked four loads of laundry later. My suitcases are unpacked I just have bags around the house. Yes, louis had a scooter and told me how glad he was to have it. He got off for pictures and short walks. He did great on whole trip. He also never got sleepy. He did all the driving…2000 miles. He quit that pain pill and that has made a huge difference. Everyone couldn’t get over how great he did for two weeks. Only issue was when we came home he went to get mail at the post office and was going to use the walker and had it out and tripped over it and down he went in the parking lot. He said two people came and got him up. He was so disappointed after having such a successful trip. I felt so bad for him. He only scraped his elbow.
We got to see my good friend I’m Dallas for a late lunch on wed going there. She took us to eat for our anniversary. It was great to see her. We got to Houston on Thursday and Judy had a family party on Friday for us. Tam and James flew in that afternoon too. It was great to see everyone. Did some laundry sat. And hung out. Off to Galveston Sunday am. We dropped off and tam parked our car. Btw, it was very cold in Texas going to Houston . 40 degrees. We had heat on in hotels. We got our scooters and dropped off luggage with no issues. We had four suitcases on cruise and a carry on. No, I didn’t wear everything but quite a bit and did formal nights. I heard one lady say she had a suitcase with 17 pair of shoes! What in the heck would u need all that for 7 days. We got two Texas tenors shirts on cruise too. Bright lime green there were 400 fans on trip. First stop was Honduras and we stayed on ship there as we really couldn’t do excursions. Waves were too high to dock second day and Cozumel at the end. We did get off the ship on scooters to have lunch at senior frogs and do some shopping. Louis bought a cool hat but it was for $100. I saw it in next store for $19.99. We did little shopping and I got a necklace. I was looking at another one and guy said it was $65. I liked it and was going to see if I could get it cheaper and then he said $6500. Whew Nope. You will be surprised to hear me say I hardly shopped on the cruise. On this huge ship the stores were more like boutiques and expensive. Our cruise bill was $324. I’ve had it $1000 before! Proud of myself. Ok I’m going to do another entry as this is very long.

  8. Part 2…..the weather in Cozumel was very warm and felt great. Tam and James and the others went on a sloth and monkey excursion. They loved it. Monkeys jumped on their heads and the held sloths. It didn’t sound fun to me for sure. Tam and James did another nine hour tour took the walk in the jungle and saw the ruins. Long excursion. The ship had 6700 people plus 2200/workers. The ship was huge so you didn’t realize it although was a challenge getting on elevators with scooters. There were 16 decks. We went to a comic show ..so fun, acqua show, ice skating show, and a musical production of mama mia. It was great. On this big of a ship you had to get reservations for the shows way ahead of the cruise. I loved the play and comics the best. We sent the majority of time in the casino. I lost about $300 not too bad for seven days and nights. Cousin gordon won $1400 on one machine at one time with 70 free spins. Tam and James spent most of their time in piano bar at night. We had special TT concert meet and gree, private pictures and q and a. Only members could go. These three guys r so nice and down to earth. They had their families with them. My uncle turned 93 on trip and Marcus ..the blond and actually my boyfriend…came over to table and sang to Bob. I tried to hAve him come to my room but he wasn’t quite that nice plus I didn’t know what I’d do with Louis. Lol. We all got along great and had a wonderful trip. Got off in beautiful weather to know we were going home to 6” of snow and -11 the other night. Not too thrilled but our weather was good driving I hated for cruise to be over. Louis and I went to special restaurant for Valentine’s Day I had my hair done on the ship too. $57 in including tip. Al in all we all had a great time. I didn’t see tam as much as I’d hoped but they were doing some alone time. I hope these blogs r readable as I’m not proofing too good. Had lobster night one night and I had shrimp cocktail and escargot every night . Yum and that garlic butter. We all gained weight on this trip. We did non alcohol drinks…many pina coladas, mudslides…fattening drinks. I did have a pina colada with Baileys one night. Delicious. Well, that’s pretty much my full trip I think. Went to have hair done with Kayla yesterday and then to lunch. Barb and I had lunch and caught up today. Sounds like a of you have been having a lot of bad weather too. Mary more snow is coming this wed seems like every wed for five weeks now so be ready wind too. I seriously need to win Lotto so I can get a second home. Well, time for bed

  9. Missed u all. I hate unpacking almost as bad as packing

  10. Dianne, You cracked me up about Marcus! He is a cutie :) It was fun reading about your trip.
How I miss cruising! I could sit on the balcony all day and watch the ocean waves.
My Niece & her family just got back from cruising. Little Myla seemed to love it.

We had some nasty weather today. Rain, sleet, snow, fog and ice on all the trees. We lost quite a few large branches. Our huge beautiful white pine keeps losing more with every storm. The wind was a big factor. Surprisingly the roads were not all that bad.
I didn't venture out, but Matthew had to drive the bus. His biggest problem was having to maneuver the heavy bows/branches hanging across the roads.

I have a hair appt. Thurs., so hoping for decent weather.

It seemed strange not having the $515s taken out of my account this month! I tucked it away as if I still had Jeep payments. Nice having it paid off!
I won another $150 on the Super bowl so I tucked that away. Maybe time for a Vegas trip lol!

It has been 2 months since Jim has smoked! He needs to build up his lungs, but otherwise he is in good health.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mary, so glad Jim’s still not smoking. So proud of. Him as I know u r . I wish we could go cruising together. I wouldn’t be on the balcony..I’d probably be driving around and in the casino losing money. We once agaIn lost on the super. Bowl pool. We never win. We haven’t been doing much. We both went to lunch with louis two lady friends as they wanted some info on mortgages. I had to shake the cobwebs out to remember plus I’m sure things have changed since my day. It was a nice lunch and they treated so that was nice too I’ve just been doing my daily lunches and working on taxes I’m finally done with them as we go next Friday. $14000 out of pocket on medical expenses. We still had to pay last year.
I’ve had Kayla do my hair for two months now and am pleased with it Mary, I think I saw you had your hair done too. We were supposed to have snow wed but it was very light just enough to get car dirty. It’s supposed to again tonight. When will it ever be over? We had it thru May last year. I seriously need two houses.

What’s everyone else been doing? I have found myself napping so much the last couple of days yesterday I woke up from a two hour nap at 8:30 pm and back to bed at 11:30 And slePt until 6. I don’t know why I’m so sleepy and lazy. Louis’s surgery is two weeks from today on st Patrick’s day. I asked him if he thought his dr would be dressed like a leprechaun …he didn’t think that was funny. I do. I guess I need to go nudging. .

  12. Hello Ladies. For a minute I thought I would not get into the nest. It just took a little longer than usual. I can’t believe what’s happening to my family. My goddaughter has been struggling with liver cancer for a few years. She had two surgeries and has taken many different meds. Last year it came back and they were not able to get it under control. She’s been in the hospital this past week and today they sent her home with hospice care. I’m so sad. She is the one that caught my wedding bouquet. She was only 6 years old and all my bridesmaids were not happy. She is also one of the Tahoe Tessies, with my sisters-in-law and another cousin, that used to go to Tahoe every year.

Dianne, your cruise sounds like lots of fun. So glad Louis did so well. I’m so glad I have the health insurance that I have. I would never be able to get drugs if that cost me that much.

JL, I have an electric mattress pad that I use at night because Chad can’t sleep unless it’s cold. He also doesn’t like the heat on too high during the day, so he bought me a wearable blanket. It keeps me warm during the day. I also have a space heater in the computer room where I spend a lot of time during the day. Mellie and I share the heat from that.

Mary, I had a visual of you doing the splits trying to pick up poop! You need shoes with spikes! LOL I’m happy that Jim is still not smoking. I hope he can keep it up even going to the casinos. In CA all the Casinos have a special room for smokers, so the main areas are smoke free. Is it that way in MI?

    ReplyDelete
  13. SacBarb, Right now there are no smoking rooms where Jim goes. I did get a survey from them the other day asking if I think they should go back to all smoking in Casino. Also asked if there should be designated smoking rooms. I don't care about the smoking rooms, but I def. don't want smoking back inside the gaming rooms!
I feel so sad about your God daughter. Just not fair :(

I never have the heat on in my home office or bedroom. I about pass out when I go into Jim's room! He likes it hot in there! Queenie's kennel is in there so when she has to come in he has to turn the heat down and use a heating blanket.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Barb, so sorry about your Goddaughter. Things just aren’t very fair in life sometimes . I will include her in my prayers. Boy, it sounds like your house is very freezing…I’d be cold as I’ve gotten colder with my old age. I used to be constantly hot. I even wore a jacket in the Dallas hotel….with the heat on! I’m about ready for another cruise. I think our hopefully next one in quite a while will be on a smaller ship back to Alaska. The royal we just came from on is now as of this week only one time does the steward freshen up your cabin instead of morning and night. Big change. Things r just getting cut back like everything else and more expensive.

Mary, you never turn the heat on? Don’t your pipes freeze? I must be reading this wrong! Not much new…no snow but chilly out. I finally got my taxes all ready to take on Friday. We spent over $14,000 out of pocket for medical expenses. Last year it was $17,000 and we had to pay. Scares me.

Just went to lunch with barb today. She’s taking off the day of Louis’s surgery to hang it with me. Tammy can’t take off after just being on vacation and I’m fine but will need some help getting out of hospital. My aunt in Greeley offered to come down one day and spend the night but I think I’m pretty capable on my own. I’m still hoping Louis will be sent to rehab for a week or two like the dr originally said a couple of months ago. He thinks after a couple of days he’ll be up and normal. He has to take a back brace with him that they fit him for prior. We shall see in two weeks.

JL how r u doing? Haven’t heard from Bev or seaside for a very long time. Hope all is ok with all. Watching SNL tonight. Seldom watch it but good mc and country singer. It’s been pretty darn funny this time. The head of show is Kelsey from the chiefs. Funny. His brother was there too. Well, time to go to get ready for bed. Night all

  15. Dianne, Our house is pretty insulated. Even from sound! We have never had our pipes freeze in the 40 some years here. We keep the heat on in the Living room, bathroom & kitchen. I need it hot when I take my shower!
I wish I lived closer, I would be with you at the hospital. I would have some one to go to movies and shows with. :(

  16. Barb I'm so sorry about your Goddaughter. Things like this just seem so random and unfair. I just got notified last week that a woman I knew and liked passed away. I first met her when we exercised at Curves. She was diagnosed less than 18 months ago with a type of leukemia. She was told that she had 3 to 12 months left to live if she responded to the medication. She made it a little longer than that. She had had a leg amputated long before I met her due to an infection. She owned an antique shop in town and I'd stop in to chat with her on occasion. She and I both signed up for some painting classes. Her husband was a great help to her and then he was killed by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bike in Golden Gate Park. Life can change in an instant.

Today we are having blue skies with puffy clouds. I think we are expecting to have showers come through periodically. During the night last night was more rain, extremely loud thunder, and some hail. A couple of days ago, I was awakened by the thunder. It was so loud, I could swear it was right over my house. The weather has been so dramatic lately.

I'm trying to picture you in your wearable blanket. Are you walking around the house like a little kid in a snow suit that can't bend her arms? LOL I guess I don't know what a wearable blanket is. I turn my thermostat down to 58 during the night and when I get up in the morning, I put some old fashioned sweat pants on under my nightgown and my robe on top. I make a bee-line to the thermostat and turn it up. At least Chad's preferences keep your heating bill down.

  17. Mary Sorry, but I had to chuckle when I read about you trying to reach the dog poop. It reminded me of a time when mom and I were in Maui and we had gone down to the beach which was below a walkway that ran parallel to the ocean. Anyway, as hard as we tried, we could not get back up to the walkway. Every time we tried climbing up the sand embankment, the sand would shift and we'd end up face down on the sand. Of course we were then laughing so hard that we became weak with the repeated efforts. My mom peed her pants so that made us laugh even more. My husband (the good one) was watching us from the balcony of our condo. He finally got our attention and let us know we had to climb it on a diagonal. LOL We all laughed for years over that.

Congratulations to Jim for not smoking for 2 months. He's doing so well. I hope he's starting to feel perkier, too. The older we are, the longer it takes to recuperate, it seems.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Dianne I'm glad you and Louis had such a good time on your cruise. Especially fun for you and the other TT fan club people. Do you think they'll do another cruise sometime? Are you unpacked now?

Like Barb, I'm lucky to have the medical insurance that I have here. I would definitely not be able to afford the out of pocket expenses that you have. Even taking into account that the figure you gave us is for two people, it's still too much.

That's great that your Barb will be able to keep you company during Louis's surgery. It always helps to pass the time to have someone with you. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well and that he makes a speedy recovery. I'm sure he's anxious to get it done.

I'm looking forward to watching the Oscars show next Sunday. I'll be watching with my friend, Jane, which has become our ritual. We started watching together along with her husband who would make his wonderful chili for us as part of our Oscar celebration. Now that he's gone, Jane makes the chili. It really is the best chili I've ever tasted and it is a real treat that I'm looking forward to.

  19. JL, I’m pretty unpacked. I have a few bags of things to empty but was ready for cleaning lady last week and all the suitcases are put away. Yes, I’m glad barb will hang out with me. Louis is very looking forward to his surgery. He is back to walking the mall again…three laps today. So proud of him. He thinks if he conditions himself walking now he won’t have to go to rehab. I have a big surprise for him…he’s going. I’ll talk to the dr after surgery. He’s concerned if I will be ok alone. I’ll be fine. The hardest part will be getting the mail. I quit watching the Oscar’s a few years ago as it was getting too political for me. I just like the entertainment part. You’re making me hungry for chili.

We can’t afford the medical either and it scares me as we don’t have much coming in to afford these expenses. It’s a constant worry. The TT have had two cruises and I think planning one in two years. Our plan now is to go to Branson mid sept for fan week. We will see what the year brings. I know louis wants to see his daughters and we can attach it to Branson but it’s expensive doing that for hotel for a few days and then we have to pay for everything…don’t even get me started.

Barb, any chance on your goddaughter? I hope she not in too much pain. I’ve been praying. So many sad things

Did I tell u all about Todd’s new position in the Denver police? Let me know so I don’t repeat myself. So proud of him. Emilee is hopefully coming over Tuesday to help me clean out closets in both rooms. They are crammed with a couple of sizes. My clothes r getting wrinkled in there. She will make me get rid of things. I can’t wait. It’s supposed to snow all week. Wonder if Spring will ever arrive here? It snowed in may a lot last year. Not fond of it.

Mary, have u been to casino lately? I’m getting the urge already. I so wished u lived closer too. We’d have so much fun. Have u gone to a movie yet? My last three were really good…a man called Otto, the whale and 80’s for Brady. That was so darn funny.

Well, I’m past due tonight for the news so time to go. Night all

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, it’s 3:21am and there are 3 ambulances and more than a dozen police cars on my street. The rescue crews have taken at least two people out of the house next door. Chad thinks one of them was dead. He went outside and two cops asked him a bunch of questions. This is not the first time there has been this kind of police activity at that house!

JL, I wish I had someone to watch the Academy Awards with. Sharon and I used to watch them together and we had a ballot we filled out to guess who we thought would win. We haven’t gone to the movies since the lock down, so we haven’t watched the show together. My hubby used to make really good chili. Reading your post brought back that memory.

Dianne, I hope Louis’ surgery goes well and he doesn’t fight going to rehab. Sheenah is coming over to do a mani/pedi for me today. She has decided to be semi-retired and only take six clients. I am very happy to be one of those clients. We are doing a three week schedule instead of two weeks and she goes to everyone’s home.

Mary, How is Raquel? Has her MIL moved out yet? Congratulations to Jim on not smoking. I hope he can keep it up.
