This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Hi all. Happy Valentines Day. Had lunch with my G M friends. I love visiting with them. I spent more time with them then I did with my own family! 8 and sometimes 10 hrs a day at work. I don't miss work lol, just my friends. Jim won over $1000 at the Casino Tues. He gave me $100. This morning he said "get yourself something for Valentine Day" with that $100. How romantic lol! Men! I will just use it to get my hair done Fri. Our weather is taking a bad turn tomorrow :( Possibly 4-6"! Oh well, it is still Feb. & winter.
Hi and happy day after Valentine’s Day. We went to dinner at the Waffle House with Tammy and James. I had never been there do I have them around any of you? It’s just a tiny mostly breakfast place but they had a special valentines night. They r very reasonable , they put table cloths on, flowers and candle on table. U had to have reservations which I did a few weeks ago. The worker were dressed with red bow ties, red hats. It was very cute and different. We went in the mountains about 45 min from r house to meet some friends for late breakfast too. I’m finally feeling better….finally! My blood test last week showed I had no iron in me so I’m now on vit c, and iron. Dr thinks that’s why I’ve be en so lethargic. They check ed me for stomach bleeding but shows ok. I’m not doing a colonoscopy so I’ll just take this iron. It’s making me a little anemic too. Louis went to hipmdr and had X-rays and he does not have to have to have knee or hip, surgery. That was really good news but he still can’t hardly walk. He didn’t ask what the next step would be for him but he didn’t ask. I’ll going to a different dr next week and I’m going with him this time. Men!
Barb, glad u got things fixed for your sister. I’d be pissed too. Getting business things seem to take forever. I have trouble getting people I can understand too it’s just frustrating.
Tammy has resumes out but no luck. She’s doing some doorbash at lunch time around her house just some extra money. It’s really scaring her with the mortgage industry so dried up right now. I feel bad for her. It’s scary out there.
JL, your soup looks yummy but I’ll bet it’s spicy. I just can’t do spicy even a little anymore. Well, time for bed it’s getting late. Thinking of ball of you.
Hi…no one is posting much. I’m finally feeling better last week.. finally. It’s been a long haul. I stopped at in and out for dinner and they totally gave me wrong order. Gave me more than I paid for too. Our weather is 60:today but possible snow Thursday and then nice all weekend. Wasn’t it terrible about the KC parade. So sad. They r cutting back on our city costs so todds dept is getting short staff. They already were short very irritating and he’s so stressed. What’s new with all of you. We had a nice Valentine’s Day with tam and James. We went to Waffle House and u had to have reservations. They had a special valentine menu and t was good. I’d never been before. It was cut how they had it decorated too and everyone all dressed up.
Louis is watching car racing and it’s very boring! That’s about it. Write guys
My friend Jane and I are both widows so we went out for a nice dinner together on Valentine's Day. We each had a drink and raised our glasses as a toast to our husbands. I wasn't happy with my first dinner order as the prime rib was quite tough. They offered to give me something else so I had Fettuccine Alfredo with Prawns and that was very good.
Dianne, I'm so glad you are feeling better and were able to go out for a Valentine dinner. You said you lost 30 pounds in 2 1/2 months. Wow! That's really a rapid weight loss. Are your pants falling down? LOL It would probably be a good idea to go with Louis to his next doctor appointment. Two heads are better than one when it comes to listening to what the doctor is saying and remembering to ask the questions you want answered. My daughter has an interview on Thursday but she isn't feeling real hopeful about it. I don't know why. She's also been in touch with someone she used to work with and their company will have a position opening up in a month or so that she is qualified for.
Barb, I cannot believe you had to go through all that crap for your sister and all you really needed was her SS number. I would be really pissed, too. What a monumental waste of your time that was. Last week's storms caused me to lose a shingle off of my roof. Today, before the rains started again, two roofing guys came over and fixed it and doubled checked the rest of the roof to make sure all was fine. One of the guys cleaned out my gutters, too, while he was up there. There was no charge today. Yay for that!
Mary, I am so glad you have that generator! The thing with power outages is that you never know how long the power will be out. During last week's big storm, I lost power for a few hours. I made my dinner by lantern light. Some areas of my city were still out of power the following night and some places in the Bay Area were out for several days. I know a lot of people lost their refrigerated foods. Congrats on Jim's nice casino winnings. I joined a neighborhood football pool for the Super Bowl but I didn't win anything.
I don't think I have anything else to talk about. I'm still going back and forth to optometrists. I had my third visit on the 7th and I'll be picking up the new lenses and have them put in my current frames. My knee is still screwed up. I'm pretty sure it's a torn tendon. If it's still a problem when I have my annual doctor appointment in late March, I'll tell the doctor about it. I really don't want to hear that it requires surgery.
JustLin, Dam the knee problems eh? I hope you won't need surgery. My knee is not good either. The one that has two replacements! It gets really bad if I lift anything heavy. I carried two cases of water in the house the other day. I tried to buy the 12, but all they had was the 36 bottle cases! I just put them in my little red wagon and roll it as close to the house as I can. Sometimes I split them and re-bag them to get them in, but I tend to get impatient, so mi culpa! I am so glad your damage was not too bad. I thought about you Cali gals!
Dianne, it is so good to know you are feeling better! Yes, it has been a "long haul". I wish we had a waffle house near buy. Sounds delicious!! How is Louis doing? I would go with him to the Dr. if I was you.I do with Jim when he lets me lol! He forgets to tell her things and forgets to tell ME things about the visit. Thank goodness I can read online about his office visits!
Barb, I felt your frustration about the wrong info! Can you imagine letting it go on for so long, for no good reason! Grrrrr! I hope you can put it all behind you soon. At least she is out of the house and in a facility. That alone must have been stressful! ...Breath!!
Dianne, I am so glad you’re feeling better. I hope it continues. I’m going to PT for the pain in my arms. The physical therapist thinks it’s a rotator cuff problem, not the fibromyalgia. I’ve been doing exercises and it’s been helping. I have another appointment with him on Monday. Chad goes in with me so he can also hear what I need to do and so when we get home he can help me with the exercises. The therapist gave me a pulley to secure over a door and since I am height challenged, he had to set it up for me. I’m also doing some stretching with an exercise band.
JL, Todd and Vicki are turning 50 this year. Their birthdays are in March and May so they’ve decided they’re gonna go on a trip to celebrate and they’re going to Virginia and Washington DC. They asked me to go to San Diego to babysit for their dog because the boarding place that they usually take him to Doesn’t have an overnight person that stays there anymore. He worried about that and he asked me if I could go down there and stay with the dog so I’m going in April for about a week and a half while they’re gone and a couple of days after they come back I’ll just stay there to visit. This little trip will also give Chad a break. LOL.
Mary, It’s so nice that you can get together with your former coworkers. I used to do that with the six people I supervised and we enjoyed it. One by one they started dropping off and now it’s just the two Jennifers and me! We make cards and we used to go to movies and lunch. Since COVID we have just been making cards at my house. I have the big pool table that’s great for crafting. I have a leather cover on it.
