This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Heyyy everyone! I finally got in to post. I have been checking and today is the first time I have been able to actually post. I don’t have much news, but at least I am here. I have been having PT and a nurse coming out twice a week since I have been home from rehab and this week is the final week for that. My final doctor appointment is Aug. 4, then I am on my own! I have really been doing well. My range of motion is good, except reaching behind my back. That is always the last to come back. Lynn was in Sac on Sunday and stopped by for a couple of hours. We had a very nice visit. She was traveling with her aunt and cousin who went to visit relatives while she was here. That’s all the news I have. ❤️
Hi Ladies! It has been terribly hot here and the farmers are bringing in their crops (corn, soy bean, hay/wheat,and plowing up the ground to lay liquid fertilizer! I rarely get headaches, but getting them now! I was driving to town and notice what looked like a dust storm! It was a farmer bringing in the wheat. I forgot to turn on my inside car circulation thingy. My eyes watered and got sneezing! Oye Vey! For two weeks I have been under a lot of stress. Zoie's back legs/hips kept going out from under her. I was constantly washing her bottom in the sink because she squatted so low. Broke my heart I have been worried it was the beginning of the end for her! Been crying my eyes out! II took her to her Chiro. With out testing her she told me it was probably neurological . She even mention possible "putting her down!" Well, I won't be going back there again! I decided to Dr her myself. I carry her up & down ramps take her for buggy ride, which she loves. I massage her and soak her bottom. She was licking her front paw until it bled, so I put on her dreaded neck collar. She has had it off & on all week. She actually gets mad when I take it off, so I am thinking she likes the support. Long story long, lol, she is now walking better. A bit slow and still almost does the splits when feeding due to the tile floor. She eats, pee s & poops good. Hopefully she will stay with me a little bit longer! Sorry for the long post. I don't talk about it to anyone, I break out in tears just writing this : ' ( A little prayer for us would be nice :)
I am sorry, I hope I didn't depress anyone with my post. Zoie is doing much better. I took down the outside ramps, as going "up" them seemed to make her hips worse. I will be carrying her up & down from now on. She is sleeping a lot which is good for her healing. Our weather is still hot & muggy, but cooler (low 80s) weather is on the way :)
Mary, I'm so sorry you are going through this with Zoie. I remember going through similar times with my Doberman, Molly. When she got old she became weak in her back end so I ended up fashioning a type of halter to put around her waist that allowed me to hold her hindquarters up so we could walk around the yard and she could do her business. I don't want to upset you more by telling you about her final day but it became clear to me that it was time to let her go. Before her final trip to the vet, I let her eat all the things she wasn't allowed to have before. She got a big chunk of prime rib, cat food, and the old cat's chicken baby food. She loved every bite of it.
Barb already knows this story but a few weeks ago I had a bit of a mishap. I had removed the vegetable drawers from the fridge so I could clean them and was having a hell of time getting them back in. They are on the bottom f the fridge and kept falling of their tracks. I was struggling with it and my back was killing me from bending over so long so I decided to sit on a little plastic stool I have in the kitchen which I use to reach the really high shelves. Well, I thought it was positioned behind me correctly but it wasn't. Plus, I thought I lowered myself down far enough to sit on it but I kind of came down hard for the final few inches. I landed hard on the edge of the stool, it broke, I landed hard on my ass. I couldn't get up so had to scoot on my butt over to a dining room chair to help me get up. Later that same day, a shelf fell out of the fridge door when I opened it, making another loud crash. My dog still doesn't trust the fridge now. It has taken this long for my rear end not to hurt when I first sit down.
Barb, I'm so glad you were able to have a visit with Lynn and that your rehab is coming along so well.
Dianne, I see you had a fun time going to the Keith Urban concert with Tammy. It's so great that you have the opportunity to do that. I with my daughter lived closer.
