Patience

the older I become it seems the
the less patience i have
even tho i know patience will
help me get thru my daily life
patience escapes me

it seems every occurrence
in my daily activities
comes with patience
work, driving, standing in line,
clients, family, etc etc etc
there is not one thing that does
not require patience

i need to find a way
to get patience back in my life
as to make it easier for me
take a deep breathe..breath in..exhale
repeat as necessary

yea right, easier said than done!

  4. Ah, no worries, Carol. Patience is a necessary but very over-rated virtue :o)

Super Saturday Owls! Top o' the mornin' to NanaGoldie (I'm SO jealous!) and SuperMom iTeach.

Can't believe I was up early enough to post in Area 51. Maybe I should go see Bill Clinton who's appearing just down the road this morning. Doors don't open for 2 hours...nah, maybe not. I don't have the patience!

  8. Good Morning Goldie - Congrats on 1st, Iteach, Bon O and Shirley.

Thanks for breakfast Shirley. I will be back later to partake.
I am just getting over the shock of finding out my family dinner party was actually a Surprise Birthday Party with so many people I can't remember who all was there. I have never been so surprised in my life. Today I am in a zombie state. I am going to miss the Photo shoot at Butchart's this morning and go to the Tea at my mom's lodge at two. I will feed my 'babies', read the blog,
comment and go back to bed.
Good Morning to all owls who visit the nest today. I will be back tomorrow to see them.

  11. Morning Glories!

LOL Goldie is up and moving this morning! Could it be the grandbabies pushed her to first?

Well patience can be elusive for me at times too. Actually mine is wearing thin today as Mr. Lynn D is driving me crazy!!! He cannot make up his mind. He wants a veggie garden this year but seems to be 10 steps ahead of himself and can't get the concept of start out simple stupid!!!

Did I say my patience was thin today?

Bono: I would have no patience for waiting in line to see Bill either!

Tinka: A surprise party how fantastic! Your family obviously loves you very much!

Hi Iteach, Ibb, MEK and Shirley!! and to anyone else posting while I am typing.

Lynn - glad it sounds yummy to you!! I LOVE those things!!

AND - YES - we are getting a new couch - we have an UGLY couch that I have hated since we bought it - but it has recliners on each end and the middle folds down for a table thing - and the cord on Mr. MEK's end snapped and the recliner part is broken!! YES!!!!

  19. Good Saturday Morning, Owls.

Hello and how are you to Goldie, iteach, Bono, Shirley, IBB, MEK, Tinka, EBJ, Granda Moses, Lynn_D and to all the owls that fly in later!

    Goldie...congrats on first and second!

Shirley...thanks for brekkie and a carnation! How nice of you! How's the weather in Nova Scotia?

Tinka...that is way too exciting that your family had a surprise party for you! Sounds like they did a great job of surprising you! Glad you had a wonderful time at your party and a wonderful birthday week! Rest well today, nice lady!

Carol...great blog and interesting topic. Your blogs are always so thought-provoking.

I have my friend Luke with me this weekend. He is ten years old and deafblind and very, very sweet. Patience is an absolute when he is here. And even at 5am when he is making enough noise to wake up the whole apartment building...I am happy that the patience is still there. It is adults who I sometimes have less patience for. Waiting in line for a long while because someone is not doing his/her job makes me very impatient. As does thoughtlessness and rudeness. But I have to work on finding that patience i have for kids and putting it to use in all situations..even if the situation is driving me bonkers!

  22. Good Morning Lynn, Ibebold, Mek, Grandma Moses, and
East Bay J. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Patience seems to be divided into categories. There is patience with children, adults, situations or oneself. It seems to be possible to be patient in one area and not in another. God blessed with me patience with slow learning kids. I could spend hours with children who didn't understand a concept and repeat the same thing over and over without feeling impatient. That's why I was always given these special needs children and I worked with them for years and loved it. I am patient with my grand children because they are so precious to me. I am patient with my mother who repeats what she says continuously because I love her.
That is where my patience ends. I have no tolerance for people who cut in line, are rude to others or who interrupt when others are talking. My patience wears thin when line-ups are long, traffic is heavy or when I can't accomplish a task I am trying so hard to learn. I have no idea how to reach that zen state and just relax and learn to be patient. At my age I guess I never will learn the trick. In the meantime I will continue to have the hair stand up on the back on my neck and my heart beating fast as I 'bite my tongue' and endure impatience with an imperfect world. I wonder if we will all be courteous and patient in the next one to come. I think that truly will be Heaven.

  23. VIG - Good morning my friend. It is going to be a sunny warm day today. Thank you for your kind words.
I think you do a fantastic job with your 'children'. There are very few people in this world who would have the patience or the competence you have to do such a great job. They are so lucky to have found you.

Grandma Moses - Thank you for your birthday wishes. I am really 'milking this one' but it sure is fun.

Shirley - I will have that breakfast now. I think I need a big one of bacon and eggs, hash browns, toast with jam and tea. I have 4 days until I weigh in. The scales my break this month. After breakfast I am going to answer messages and then have a nap. This Afternoon Tea at my mother's lodge will require patience.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 'may break' not 'my break'. I knew I needed to eat before I typed.

  25. Hi Tink...enjoy this gorgeous, sunny day. Thank you for your wonderfully kind words!!! I wish I had grown up in Victoria and had Mrs. Tinkatia as a teacher. I know you were the kind of teacher that had endless patience and that your students that you had over the years still remember and talk about you as their favourite teacher. I plan to pick your brain for your best teaching ideas when we go for lunch on Thursday! I am very excited about meeting you...and meeting my first Owl!

    ReplyDelete
  26. VIG - I am excited about our High Tea on Thursday too. I only wish my private jet was on stand-by so we could fly Zona in to be with us. The price of gas is keeping it in the Hanger.
We will have to take a picture of her along with us and set a place for her. She will be there in spirit. I hope she will be there in person in the summer.
I am off to eat and nap. I must be rested before I go to tea at the lodge.

  27. Goldie: Congrats on being first this morning!

Great post Carol! I agree with Tink about being patient with those we care about and impatient with those who are rude and selfish!

I do have one student I work with that takes every ounce of patience from me and I am beat by the end of the day. I have a real hard time with him because he is blatantly rude and disrespectful and thinks it's funny to be that way. I TRY really HARD to tell myself that he can't help it because he doesn't have a good home life. I then try to sit him down and talk to him in a gentle voice and explain why his behaviors are rude. He will then interrupt me and say, "blah, blah, blah, I DON'T CARE!" I don't know what to do with that!!! He'll then belch in my face and say (with a sarcastic smile), "excuse me!" I do feel sorry for him. But I also feel sorry for everyone in his class that he disrupts and bothers. I feel unsupported by those "higher up" who don't believe I am being patient ENOUGH with him. I see that they put up with too much and they are allowing this student to run the show. I believe he needs to learn to change HIS behaviors (not the other way around) or we are doing no service to him. It is sad.

  28. Ok....I got way off the subject! Sorry!

My mom always told me I was born "impatient" so sometimes I use that as an excuse! (I was born before the doctor arrived).

I agree with iteach. It is MUCH easier to be patient with children than adults (esp. since they don't know better)!

However, I have NO patience with ADULTS who act like children!

    ReplyDelete
  29. OK...got to say one more thing, so I end on an "even" note! ; )

    Have a great day everyone!!!

    we are READY!!!!

  31. Patience...
I have a lot of patience. I worked with children and children with problems when I was younger. You need a lot of patience or you shouldn't be in that career. The job I have now requires a lot of patience. I rarely lose my patience (never with a child or animal) and when I do that person deserves it.
    Shirley
thank you for the wonderful breakfast. You are always so very thoughtful.
    Gransma Moses
you strike me as a very calm person who rarely loses their patience. You smile constantly when you are in chat and smiles say a lot about a person's personality.
It is saturday and I have a full day of events planned. This is going to bea very exciting week end!

  32. MEK: I am awaiting your couch delivery too! LOL I keep thinking MEK is getting a new couch Wahoo!

Ok shhhh Mr. Lynn D is still driving me crazy this morning. He is sitting behind me on the computer mumbling!

Somehow he went from a simple veggie garden to saying things like we need chickens and milk goats. WTF I am not going to milk goats every day twice a day. I can't stand to unload the dishwasher! Come on!!! 10 years ago maybe chickens and goats, but now!!!

I am losing me mind here people!

Carol, you're so right about patience!! I think the older you get, the LESS patience you have! haha

I'm finding that out....BTW, when y'all get time, peep from yesterday's comments the link to my flickr friend who took pics of real owls!!

MEK, Oh I did get that confused! I do wanna try that cherished recipe!

  38. Joey: He may end up with Ma Kettle if he keeps this up!!

I will check out your friends flicker owls in a bit. Off to eat lunch first.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Good morning, owls! I've been kind of MIA this week; it was an insane one at work, what with Johnson Space Center making noises that they wanted to abscond with my lab, co-running an eye movement workshop and preparing a talk for the workshop!

The week required patience with a co-worker with whom I have very little! She is a perfectly nice and well-meaning person, but rambles and dissembles and drives me crazy!

Tinkatia: Nice analysis! You got me thinking that we may use the word "patience" to mean two different things. One meaning is associated with how much tolerance we have for devoting a certain amount of time to a particular activity. Some people like passing time by lying on the beach during a vacation; others don't because they get bored; the latter group might say they have no "patience" for it.

But when we apply the word to other people, I think we're associating patience more with the level of irritation we feel with their personality. If we find them delightful to be around, spending time with them is no problem. If we find them aversive, then time with them is irritating, and so we say we have no "patience" with them. But I think we're referring more to our internal emotional state than to the passage of time, per se!

    Thanks for breakfast, Shirley!

  40. Okay - it's 12:15pm and STILL no phone call from the furniture store - I called their delivery dept. at 10:30a.m. (since we were told we would be called FIRST thing in the a.m. - my idea of FIRST thing is 7-8 a.m) - anyway - the gal said, they are waiting for one more piece of furniture to load on the truck and will be leaving "shortly" - and then you will get a phone call with your TWO hour window!!!!!! HELLO!!! but - I guess the good thing is that we are actually ON the list!! LOL

SO, my patience is starting to run out!! LOL

BUT - my NFL draft just started - only got to look at Howie Long for a few minutes, cuz his son was picked SECOND!!!!! Being a sports fanatic - I just LOVE this day!!! AND -they have streamlined it - so you aren't waiting forever between picks...

SO - there is the Al MIchael's report of the weekend!!!

I hope everyone is patiently having an excellent Saturday!!!

  41. Hi Everyone...

I ran into a problem last nite with my internet service, I have NONE..

I was on the phone with Verizon till 1am. I am at a loss, and ready to blow!

My nephew is coming over tonite to see what he can do.

If you guys don't see me tonite you will know I am "unplugged"

I posted the blog from the office this morning, and stopped by now to leave this msg.

So sorry you guys have to hear me rambling about this so much

Just skip over me. I am a bore and very tedious...Sorry!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Good afternoon to all you patiently waiting owls...lol

Congrats. Goldie on 1st and your special time with your babies. Here's one of my 'Nana Tricks': The next time you give them a bath, put about four drops of food coloring in the bath water, and call it...Nana's Magic Bath. They will love it, just don't use yellow. lol

Thanks for the breakfast and flowers, Shirley, I believe I'll have fruit and call it lunch. You are so sweet to take such good care of us.

Mek, I'm happy about your new couch, i just wish it would have been the red one, I put on your page...lol Have fun!!

LynnD, 'Ma Kettle'...lmao. You are so funny.

My patience is wearing thin trying to visit with each of you. Would it be okay for me to say that I have read all the comments and enjoyed your views? I also wish each of you a lovely weekend.

Patience for me seems to become easier and easier as the years pass. Waiting for things seemed to take for ever, when I was younger.
Now, don't get me wrong, I have no patience with rudeness and overall lack of consideration.

Prime example: I left an earring at the beauty salon on Thursday and went to get it a while ago. Well, it's past lunchtime here and I thought I'd stop at McDonalds for a sandwich from the drive-thru. I don't eat there, so I had to take a minute to read the menu, which aggravated the young male voice on the microphone. He actually told me to go park my car and come inside if I didn't hurry-up. HEY, there wasn't anyone behind me!! I told him please give me a minute. When I drove up to him, he used a hateful tone and said, "HERE!!" and closed the window. No 'Have a nice day, Come again' or 'Kiss my ass'.

You have NO idea how badly I wanted to tell him to "Have a great McF**kin' Day". I sure as heck thought it, though.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest and I wish you many smiles today.

    Ronnie
(since it's so slow in here today, I just thought I'd give all of you something to read) LOL

  43. Carol you are NEVER a bore or tedious!

  47. I'm in a wierd mood, I think it's from lack of sleep last night.

At some point in the middle of the night, someone rang our doorbell and knocked really loudly.

We both jumped up and huz got dressed quickly. He yelled WHO IS IT and no response.

It was some kids having fun, ringing and running. I was so mad!

It scared the you know what out of me and I didn't get back to sleep for a long time.

I should probably take a nap!

    ReplyDelete
  48. My internet went down for a little while - BUT

here's what just happened here - (still no phone call from the furniture place) - The doorbell rings - (Mr. MEK has gone to get us lunch) - I am ALL excited thinking our furniture has arrived - and there is this kid standing there - (well, in his twenties) - I asked him what he was selling and he proceeds to tell me "Nothing, BUT - - well, he goes on and on - I figure out that he's selling security systems - I tell VERY POLITELY - that I am NOT interested - we already have a system - and he continues to talk - I inform him (again, very politely) that I am NOT interested and that he is interupting my day! Well, with that - he continues his little speech - telling me that I am NOT going to be safe - blah blah and so - I said - Please, I am going to close the door, cuz I am NOT interested - SO, he smarts off at me - SOOOOOOOOO, I just let him have it...... I YELLED at him (really - I went POSTAL) - I said, Do you NOT understand what in the fuck the word NOOOOOOOO means? I tried to be polite, but NOOOOO you just have to go on and on - You ARE interupting MY day and you are telling me that I am being rude - well, I'll show you rude" and I slammed the door shut!!!!!

WOW - I really did feel alot better after that!!!!!!! LOL

Ronnie - you should have gone off on that kid at McD's - trust me- you would have felt alot better and maybe he'll be nice to the next person!!!!!

    EBJ - :-)

cpgem - hope you get your internet fixed - you could NEVER be tedious..

I hope this couch comes soon!! this is making me a looney tune!!

  51. OK....I am supposed to be in the shower and getting ready to hang out with another teacher friend of mine today. However, I had to fly in real quick.

Whabbear: As always, I loved your "intellectual" post. It is a very good reflection. I agree with you that we me levels of "irritations" when saying we are "impatient"!

Shirley: I forgot to thank you for breakfast as well as all the works for patience in different languages. I was just writing to my Polish friend...sigh...(heart beating fast at just the thought of him!) and I was JUST saying he needs to be patient with me. I then just now sent him another e-mail with the Polish word for patience as the subject!

YIKES!!! Perhaps he's IRRITATED with me! : ( ....sound of my heart shattering in a million pieces....sigh....

    ReplyDelete
  52. EBJ~~lol, I think the 'F' word in all the other languages is pretty much the same, and spoken in sign-language....the middle finger.

Mek~~I think you should have been with ME...you have such a way with words. You are Sooo Amazing!! I don't think the young man will be by again soon.

Hang in there, Jennifer Honey. Good things come to those who wait.

I can't believe this blog is about patience and SOME of us are losing it today. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think I'll go out and pick a fight with somebody, just to get my aggression out. Not really.

My trip to McD's is a enough for one day.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well it does seem that patience is on the short list today. LOL

MEK: Damn no couch yet and they obviously have their own time table! Geez. As for the young man at the door good for you! One good thing about living in the country we don't get sales people at our doorstep! The gate and the dogs seem to be a deterent!

Whabby: I read your post and I agree. But for me can go to an all new hormonal level at times.

Ronnie: You should have told him to kiss your McAss! Then gotten out of your car and asked for his McManager! Little pimple faced snot!

EBJ: Might want to rewire that doorbell to stun!

Mr. Lynn D has quit mumbling for now tho he did say something about selling and moving to a better piece of property! Argggggggggh!

I am going to go patiently and poor myself another drink!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh I have to tell this story.

A cousin of mine had a man come to her door one day and was trying to sell her something. She kept telling him she was not interested and he just kept getting more and more aggresive. Her then 4 year old son was standing next to her. The man kept trying to sell and my cousin kept saying no.

Well her son took matters into his own hands. He balled up his fist and punched the guy right in the crotch and yelled leave my Mommy alone.

End of story my cousin quickly shut the door while the sales man collapsed on her steps.

She watched as he limped back to his car.

Her son got an ice cream cone.

  61. OMG, Lynn~~ I bet he got two scoops. Too funny.

How did you know he was a pimple faced snot? I guess his attitude goes with the face...LMAO. I might have to have a talk with him about going to work at MEK's local McD's, and let her go POSTAL on him. I'll send him over there and she can make him cry...lmao!!

This is NOT a hormonal day for me...'cause I took mine this morning after I brushed my teeth.
I think something is in the air besides all the pollen.

    "Who let the smart-asses out?
    Who..Who?"

They say patience is a virtue...well I'm not very virtuous today, then.

  62. LOL at Shirley, spending her Saturday looking-up dirty words.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lynn D - too bad i didn't have a four year old here today!! LOL But - i was about to unleash my barking dogs on him!!! They would have licked him to death - but he didn't have to know that..

Ronnie - I would have been MORE than happy to help you out with that kid today!!! I'm on a roll!!!

OKAY - you all would be EXTREMELY proud of me - AMAZED even.. (even Mr. MEK was SOOOOOOO proud of me - couldn't believe how NICE I was being!!!)

I called at 2:15p.m, to find out what my "window" was - and was told - Your item is out of stock - there is NO delivery today!!!"

I held my tongue - (Figured I had already gone postal on the kid at the door) -

I proceeded to tell the person - you (yes, her - cuz I had gotten her name) - You told me at 10:30a.m., that my couch was on the truck and that it would be leaving soon and I would get a phone call!!

She said - "You were called at 12:43pm and told that your delivery would not be happening today" - (her tone was just NOT right) - I informed her that I had been HERE ALL day - and that my phone never rang - I wanted to know WHO thought they had spoken to me!! she put me on hold and came back and said - "Maam, "they" just wrote down that they called you - "they" got sidetracked and never made the phone call" - (NOW -that pissed me off) - anyway - I asked WHEN would the couch be in stock and she responded - "I have no earthly idea" -

WTF!!!!!! okay - at this point - I had to take a SUPER deep breath - but I did let her know that SHE had assured me VERY early this a.m., that my couch was ON the truck and that if she had taken just a minute more to confirm - I would not have wasted a WHOLE day!!!!! (She basically didn't care)--

Next phone call - to the furniture store - to talk to my salesperson - WHO - last night said - the couch is in stock (we almost bought the whole sectional, but since the big part was NOT in stock - we JUST bought the loveseat) - SO - the gal that answers the phone says - "He's with a customer, may I take a message" - I respond "Well, he has a VERY unhappy customer on the phone, so I would suggest that he take this phone call"... they put me on hold.... (forever) - the little gal gets back on the line and said - "May I ask what this is in reference to" - SO - I informed her that I have had to clear out my house from the front door to the family room in order for a piece of furniture to be delivered that now - NOONE knows when in the heck it will be in stock and that I was NOT a happy camper - I told her the whole story from my day and she said - "what is your order number?" - she said - well, it's out of stock........ (NO KIDDING, MATLOCK!!!!!!!! is what I wanted to say)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOo - no couch today - have no frickening idea WHEN we will be getting it......

    OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    Patience!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Now - I need to go move some furniture back in place!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ronnie - like I just said - i am in a mood -

send ANYONE my way that needs "POSTAL" -

OH - I tell ya, you would BE SOOOOOOOOOOOOO proud of me to NOT take out MY frustrations on those assholes on the phone - I am SURE (and I told them both) that they would NOT appreciate this happening to THEM!!!!!!!!!

What a waste of a beautiful day!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm sorry MEK...but I am laughing my ass OFF. Nobody can tell a story like you!!

Okay, get the red one delivered, I hear it's in stock. Maybe some 'pimpled face snot', as Lynn say's, will make the delivery and you can work you 'Magic' on HIM!!

This is all just so damn funny about the TORD. Nice try, Carol, but it ain't workin'.

    ReplyDelete
  66. TORD/TOTD~~~What's the difference at this point?

    ReplyDelete
  67. OMG, MEK~~You must not be a Taurus! I would have been so patient....until that last call. Now I would be on the phone with the store manager or Regional Manager if it's a chain. I'd either have a 50% discount or cancel my order. THEN, I'd call the local tv station and the BBB!!

Have a nice McF**king day, indeed!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hey, Bon..

I don't think anyone should ever underestimate we sweet little middle-aged women that nest here. We come here, smile, say our thank-you's, and make 'nice-nice', but God forbid if we get upset.

Thank you for your time, and giving a smile.

    ReplyDelete
  69. No..but I will. Thank you.

I'm leaving the nest with a sweet smile on my face because I'm a nice lady with patience.

  74. Since everyone has left a story today here is mine!

I am thinking at this point it was the modem all along, there was nothing wrong with my computer. I bought a new modem today and just got done hooking it up, I did it myself with a little help from Verizon tech support (my nephew went into nyc for the day). And my internet connection is 100ptct!
    No breaks!

I asked Verizon several times over this last month to send me a new modem, they kept insisting it was the computer and the modem was fine. They should know right?

First thing this morning I went to Best Buy and bought a Verizon modem. $90.00 bucks..

This whole fiasco has cost me $500.00 and lots of aggravation..

I threw away a computer that was not broke!

And now I have Vista :(

    Amazing..

My blog today! So apropos for all of us!

  75. mek
    Sorry about your couch :(

You being upset is soooo understandable...

I would have flipped my wing!

Does anyone know their job? Why do they tell us things, that are just not true? I sincerely don't get it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. MEK....Time to cancel the transaction. You were not delivered what you were promised at the time of the transaction. They will be required to refund your entire amount. Take your business somewhere else. Too bad Michaels doesn't sell furniture!

    Area 51

Yes, the lines for gas on Friday were very long on the NJ Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. There is some kind of law that the stations on these roads can only change their prices once a week. Whereas stations on local roads can change prices whenever they want!

So as the local stations where raising the gas prices, The highway stations were not. That is why everyone was heading on these highways. Causing traffic jams and backups all over....

  90. I am home from an afternoon at my mom's lodge and my patience is a little frayed. Those caregivers down there deserve a medal for the patience they show to men and women with dementia. It is a real 'calling'. The disruptive behaviour during a beautiful harp recital is the result of the disease but the patient handling of these elderly people takes real skill. I don't think I would have the patience to last long at that job.
I bought the movie "Juno" so I think I will have a leisurely soak in my Hot Tub with lot of the essence of Lavender in it to relieve the stress and then I am going to bed with my 'fur babies' and watch Juno. I don't care if it's only 5:30. I am saying it is Night Time. See you all tomorrow. Be patient with each other.
Carol, you could never be a bore or tedious. I think you are wonderful.
    Love, Tinka

  95. Hi everyone!

I have not posted in several days, (head hung in shame) but I have been checking in on all of you. It has been a CRAZY week, and it ain't over yet!

This particular blog today about patience, I feel was meant just for me!

I think I have run out of patience with everything and everyone lately!

I live in a nice tract home in a nice subdivision, albeit older. My home was built in 1979, and we rented it before I bought it after my husband died. We were the second tenents in 1981, so it seemed brand new. The previous tenents were very clean and took good care of the home.

Now, though, almost 30 yrs later, even after several re-model projects,(cosmetic only, except for taking down the "cottage-cheese" ceiling) EVERYTHING seems to be falling apart, breaking down and needing repair! And I don't have the ready cash to pay for all the very expensive repairs and labor to make it how I want it! So, I need PATIENCE!

Patience to replace only what is absolutely necessary now, like the leaking kitchen faucet that flooded under the sink and floor last week, and the ugly sink (We just finished that project today, and I am almost $600 poorer!)

I want to make my deck look prettier, I want to remodel my first bathroom, I want new kitchen cabinets, and counter-tops. The motor on my hot tub, which is old too,(1987) but re-built just a few yrs ago, broke, all the water was draining out, and water was gushing from every jet on the tub!

PATIENCE. Can't afford to right now. It will come when the time is right.

I am though, entering all the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes that come to my email!!! Hey, someone has to win, right???? Why NOT me???

PATIENCE to find out when Laurie's surgery will be. No, Grandma Moses, Laurie was not back in the hospital. Thank you so much for asking. She is going in for her last MRI under sedation this Wednesday the 30th at UCSF. Then, we must wait for the Dr's and Surgeons to confer, and get back to us. PATIENCE is needed again.

I thought when Laurie was born, patience was automatically given to us moms and dads. But no, we had to LEARN patience. And though I have learned to be much more patient, believe me, life steps in and gives you a jolt, and you are back to step one!

And, tomorrow I am off to Sacramento to help out my middle daughter with her little baby who is very sick with ear infection, sinus infection, eye infection, and upper respiratory infection. She had a fever of 105 last night.

My daughter just started her new job and can not send Emma to day care, and her MIL has been helping out alot, but I am her mother, and I want to help out too, so, even though it took a bit of figuring out for Laurie to stay with her other sister, I can finally be Nonna to Emma when she needs me! Not just when she comes for fun at my house!

Goldie, I am so happy your grandbabies are there with you! Enjoy them, they are precious little people.

On a happier and more cheery note!!!

The play "High School Musical" that I took my daughter Aimee, my granddaughter Janee, and Laurie to on Wednesday was fantastic! We were in the 5th row Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco, and you literally could see the spit coming from the performers mouths when they sang!!! So very cool.(not the spit, just being that close, LOL)

Laurie was so excited!! She knew all the songs and was singing along (I needed to shush her a few times) and moving around her seat to the music the whole time! It was money well spent! I am so happy that she was able to see that, before she goes in for her surgery.

I have two pictures that I would like to send to Carol, if that's ok, showing Laurie by the poster in the Lobby, and one of Laurie and I at dinner afterward. Sorry, I don't have MySpace.

Well, after reading the recipes from yesterday, I need to start cooking more! They ALL sounded so delicious!

Have a wonderful Saturday evening everyone,

Peace and Love, DonnaJean and Laurie Elizabeth

  96. Good evening all!

Carol: So glad you are back and posting, but not happy that it was your modem this whole time. :(

MEK: I am having Post Traumatic Flash backs here reading your post.

In a past life I was a Customer Service Manager in a very well known and large furniture store here in WA. The store was called the The Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse. 10,000 sq ft of furniture. Some of our WA residents may know it.

I was the lucky duck that would have to deal with your situation when your sales person screwed the pooch.

This is my best guess about what is going on. The sales person sold you the couch he more than likely assumed there were plenty in stock and wrote up the order. Later when he went to claim one for you he discovered that they were actually out of stock or he did look it up and there was one left and he thought he was safe but left it to long before he put the order in to the warehouse and another sales person snagged it first.

Your sales person let the order stand and I am guessing here the delivery person you talked to more than likely caught that there was no couch for your order and did not call you, but tried to get a hold of your salesperson to call you and rectify the situation.

So when you called they lied and said yeah it's on the truck but they would call you with a window of delivery because they did not want to deal with an angry customer.

If they got a hold of your salesperson,(which I am guessing they did) He never took care of the situation and of course you called to find out what the heck is going on.

The person who you asked to get your sales person to the phone probably tried but the weasel did not want to talk to an angry customer and left her holding the bag. Yes she was snippy with you, which she should never do with a customer, but I would guarantee she was pissed at the salesperson who created this mess. She should have transferred you to the manager right away or a customer service manager.

Again I am guessing that when you do go in to find out when the couch will be instock that it will be 2 weeks at the earliest. More than likely 6 to 8 weeks. I am really hoping this is not a style the manufacturer may be discontinuing because that is when it really gets ugly!

I am also guessing your sales person has been selling for a longtime. Why you ask? Because those where the assholes I always had to dig out of the hole!!! Newbies generally are very afraid not to call and try to straighten out the mess. The old hands can be arrogant and leave it up to the managers to figure out. I swear to god it was like dealing with babies you had to wipe their hineys all the time! I again am assuming these people work on commission and as long as they get their numbers on the books for the day they figure it is all good.

When you go in, go in calm but firm. If you accept that there will be a wait to get your sofa insist on free delivery and some kind of discount. Period.

If you are not satisfied get your full refund and go elsewhere and let them know that is what you are doing.

In this economy I can't imagine they will let you walk out the door but you never know.

Hope this helps! I feel for ya!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Donna Jean: Happy to see you post! First off (((Hugs))) Why does everything break at once?

I am so happy that Miss Laurie had a wonderful time at High School musical!! At least you have had that happy interlude before she has more medical tests!

    Wishing you both the best!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Shirley you are so funny! Thank you for posting the F word in all those languages. I had no idea there were so many ways to say it!

I grew up hearing the Italian version :)

    MEK I'm AMAZED that your sofa was OUT OF STOCK!!! After they set up the delivery!!!!! {{insert all the F words here}}

I am with Barb, I would cancel it. That sux, big time.

It was about 80 here today, and our sliding door is at the repair shop. So I had windows open which helped.

JODI, would you consider sharing your potato salad recipe with me, so I can make it in your honor for the BABB??

(Unless of course you are coming, then I'll let you make it!!!) :)

  99. DonnaJean, I was happy to see your comment. I hope Emma feels better soon.
I am wishing that you win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes!!!

  100. Just peeking before I go to bed... Busy rainy night tonight... I know people don't want to get out in teh rain... but you would think they would tip better in the rain... but sadly they don't..
Had to almost lose my patience with one of the kids at work tonight... has no respect for authority and especially women... he kept saying racial comments to one of the drivers.. i told 5 times tonight to stop.. you really can't do this at work.. (or anywhere else for that matter)...but really at work... I told him by his behavoir tonight the other kid every right to sue him... that didn't stop him..I am supposed to be Driver manager... I finally got the manager... I couldn't take it any more..
I was out of there.. i believe he was sent home.. hopefully fired..
Oh well there is my rant...
    this place sure is empty!!!
feels kinda weird in the middle of the night...
Hope everyone has a great night...
    and an even better sunday...
I need to get this out of my head and try to sleep...

  101. Good Night - IBB...

Lynn - I will "kill them with kindness" - don't worry - Mr. MEK was AMAZED at how calm I was on the phone today - he was EXTREMELY impressed (cuz he has seen me "in action" before!!!)... What I think has upset me as the day comes to an end - our sales person never called us back......... I have been EVERYWHERE looking for the perfect replacement and this was it... SO- I know that there isn't any other piece of furniture that fits or works - we purchased it last night at 5pm, SO, I was shocked that it could be delivered TODAY - something told me that just was NOT going to happen - so I think in my mind I was prepared - BUT - if someone had just taken the time to be HONEST with us - OH WELL - I DO expect it to take awhile - and I just may have to GO WITHOUT this perfect fit in my house - and that REALLY upsets me - but this too shall pass and I'll get over it!!!!! thanks for sharing your customer service story with me........ being in management myself all those years, I have had to take my fair share of unhappy phone calls - THAT is why i try SO hard to treat everyone like I would like to be treated myself!!!!!!!

cpgem - i am sorry that you had to go thru all that computer stuff!!

I am going to bed - it's been an exhausted day!!

I hope everyone has an excellent Sunday!!
    :-)

  102. Shirley: Thanks for the useful vocabulary! It's nice to have a few choice words to say in other languages!!! ; )

Thanks Ronnie, I am "hanging on" but sometimes I get tired! I guess I just want those "curtains" to be "blowing in the wind" soon (as I am NOT very "patient")! ; )
