Dream's

"Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?"
(Quote taken from a Stevie Nicks song "Dreams")

by East Bay J

What is it with our dreams? I have some of the strangest, funniest, most bizarre dreams.

This morning I woke up wondering about the dream I had just had. I was dreaming of being at a wedding. The aisle at the church was horseshoe-shaped, and the wedding party walked down and around and back up to the alter. One of the groomsmen was in a wheelchair and stopped to talk to someone while going around.

I did not know the bride and groom. Everyone in the wedding party, although formally dressed, were wearing colorful Hawaiian leis.

That is all I can remember about it.

When I got up and drank my coffee, I was wondering what significance it had or might have.

I have had dreams about people I know, usually a family member or friend, dying, usually in a car accident. Thankfully none of those were a premonition and has never come true.

Someone I work with will have dreams about lucky numbers. She writes them down and will have her husband take her to one of the casinos and she will play those numbers. She has won many times. Last time was a few months ago, and she won $5000.

I've thought about studying dreams and what they mean, but it scares me and I've never pursued it.

I'm interested to know if any owls have dreams that come true? Or has anyone studied the meaning

  5. Congrats on 1st Iteach!

Good morning LynnD and IBB and everyone else!

    Great topic EBJ!

My problem is I don't remember my dreams. Sometimes I'll remember a person or bits and pieces but it doesn't make any sense. I use to have a dream analysis book but that was a long time ago. It is interesting to hear how people interpret their dreams.

I do know in some of my dreams I run a lot. Sure as hell can't do that in the real world. Lol! Maybe it means I am running from myself. Hmmmmmmmmm.

  6. I have several recurring dreams.

The one I dream the most about is trying to cross the river.

There is a river that seperates my town and the town next to me. It is called the Rock River.

I have a lot of dreams where the river is so flooded that I can't cross the bridge. It is very dangerous and scary.

I have had only one dream where I made it across the river.

  7. Hi IBB! You guys celebrate the anniversary of the Bobbit bobbing? Is there a parade?LOL

Shirley: Where you up early this morning and enjoying the neighbors yard? LMAO

Dreams: Hmmm I used to have a recurring scary dream when I was a kid and teenager have not had it in years.

It was always in the same house with a door that went under the stairs and there was a man in that room that would talk very slow and creepy and call my name. Don't know what it means but it used to scare the crap out of me.

I have dreams some of them vivid but usually don't have one that stays with me anymore.

Another dream I used to have regularly was about flying. I could move my arms and soon be over houses and just float around. Always liked that one.

I do dream in color and read years ago that only ten percent of the population dreams in color. Don't know if that is true or not.

The only dream fact I know is that if you dream about your teeth falling out it usually means you have said something you regret or wish you could take back.

  8. Part II

Two months after I miscarried the twins I had a dream about them. I was trying to cross the river with them.

The river was getting higher and higher. I was desperate to cross the river. The river was up to my waist and I couldn't raise the babies up any higher.

Then my late boyfriend the firefighter was swimming under water towards me. He was wearing his full firefighter gear and his oxygen mask.

He took the babies out of my arms and dived under the water with them. He swam away with them.

Then the flood disappeared and I could cross the bridge.

  9. A beeeutiful Monday morning to Iteach, LynnD, IBB,Shirley and LynnD!

...or should I say "Bon Matin, Mes Amies!!" Received a call from our Mry/MI about half an hour ago from Paris. She said to tell everyone "Hello!" and she'll be home tomorrow night. They're beginning their many legs of the trip soon, with a stop in Amsterdam. She's been largely unable to send emails, but has had an even better time than expected and has over 700 pictures. I hope she shares them all!! She did say they enjoyed Italy more than the more elitist Paree.

EBJ~~I'm so glad to see a blog about dreams. They fascinate me, and reminded me that the last time we spoke of them I was hoping we'd have a blog one day about our recurring dreams. Those are the ones I find really intriguing. Be back later to read and comment, but wanted to relay Mary's greeting to all.

    ReplyDelete
  10. p.s. there is, of course, an 'A' in Mary...put your glasses on, Bon!

  11. LynnD I thought the dream about teeth falling out had something to do with sex, or lack of.

  12. Happy Monday morning Owls.

I was up very early this morning because I was going to clean up an area of my garden where my son took out 8 daisy bushes that got out of control. But the air is so bad from all the wild fires in Northern CA, I could hardly breathe. When I came inside and turned the TV on, the weather person was telling everyone to stay in because of the poor air quality. Sacramento is in a valley and all the poor air settles here. So I will be inside today.

Iteach: Congrats on #1. Your dream about the river is very interesting, but the one about the twins is very sad.

Shirley: Thanks for breaky. I am really hungry , so I think I'll have some pancakes with traditional maple syrup. I hope your neighbor doesn't miss the flowers.

Bon: Thanks for the update on Mary. Glad she is enjoying the trip.

IBB: Good to see you. Don't work too hard today.

LynnD: I dream in color and I have never dreamt of my teeth falling out, but there are things I regret saying.

Good morning to Tinka and MEK who will probably be flying in soon.

Most of the time I can't remember my dreams, but I have dreamt of having to pee and not being able to find a bathroom. Then I wake up and have to rush to the bathroom. :0)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Morning Bono! Glad to hear Mary is having a great time! I miss her in the nest!

Shirley: Why in the world would your teeth falling out have anything to do with sex? LOL I have heard many jokes about a certain sex act for men that they may wish there were no teeth involved! Hmmm oops Lorena Bobbit theme not intended! ROFLMAO

Iteach: My guess would be that your river dreams are just about struggle to get through life safely. I think the dream about the babies is a sweet one and a mothers instinct to save her children at all costs.

I did dream when my children were babies that Mr. Lynn D and the kids were in a boat and it was sinking I immediately saved the children and told him he was on his own. Mothers instinct.

EBJ: Great blog topic. It will be fun to hear about everyone's dreams.

  15. SacBarb - Thank you for the Good Morning knowing I would be flying in soon.

I just scrolled and saw George Carlin died. That makes me sad. I really liked him.

Good Morning Iteach - Congrats on first. Usually I check the blog before I feed my 'fur-babies'. That isn't as easy when one has a visitor living in your bottom level where the computer resides. I hope your children are all well today.

Shirley - I am going to break my diet regime and have a cinnamon sticky bun and tea. Of course the Slim Fast will make up for that at lunch time, maybe. LOL. Good Morning and Thanks once again.

    Good Morning Lynn, Ibebold,
and BonO. Hope you are having a lovely summer day.

    I will be right back.

  16. LynnD I have a friend who takes her two front teeth out to "please her man". LMAO!

  18. OMG How funny that we are talking about dreams! Let me get mine out of my head before I forget it!

I dreamed that we went to see Journey. Someone said they were doing something different. Like Eras or something. Anyway, they opened a curtain and they stepped back a few steps and dropped their pants and they had on 70's stlye sparkly disco shorts and then they all stepped into roller skates and started skaing around. And then the new lead singer came out and he was dressed as Michael Jackson in a sprkly black suit and he started moonwalking. And he had on these really huge dredlocks. Then Neal came over to me and said hi. He gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. I was sitting on this ledge thing and he told me I better get down because they didn't want me to fall off and get hurt. So I sat on the floor and he sat down next to me. All of a sudden I remembered that we were suppose to have a meet & greet with them before the show. He said that's ok, we could come backstage after the show. Then it got all weird about me waiting around after the show for them to come out and all the different people who were there too.
    Funny dream.
Now I will go back and read the blog!

  19. I have book that explains some symbolism in dreams. So I guess if anyone needs me to look anything up in it I can. It can be a little vague though. I do know that I used to always dream about talking a shower right before I got paid. And I think dreaming about water or something like that means you will be getting money.

    ReplyDelete
  20. East Bay J - Great blog this morning. I will be back later to talk about dreams. Right now I have to entertain my visitor.

  21. Good morning!

Shirley I about choked when I read about your friend. OMG! That is sooo funny!

I met a gal at work once, she was in labor and came to our nursery to look.

She had 2 tongue piercings, when I commented that I'd never seen a person with 2 before, she did not hesitate to tell me that her boyfriend had much better oral sex with her 2 tongue rings!

She was a little more graphic in her description :)

Last night I had a dream that one of the drs. I work with and I were out bar hopping. This is not someone I would socialize with, but I woke up laughing about it.

I can't remember much else about it.

I'm waiting for Goodwill to come and pick up a load today, it will be nice to get it out of the house.

My huz looked at some of the stuff in the pile and asked me why the hell I was giving it away? So I noticed that some of the stuff is now removed from the pile! haha

    I'll be back!

  23. EBJ - great blog - I dream alot and most of the time can't remember - or they are SO bizarre!!

But - I usually am awakened by a big "jerky" motion- and in my dream I am about to fall - but wake up before it actually happens if that makes sense....... and then I don't remember anything before that....

the other night - I had a dream that one of the cats had thrown up everywhere and my mother was watching the animals for us and did NOT clean it up properly - SO, I think that is telling me that I'm worried about leaving her with our animals when we travel soon!!

Gosh - I could go on - I'll have to think about more of my dreams that repeat themselves!!

Want2 - thanks for the late night cake!! :-)

  24. Very sad about George Carlin - I enjoyed him -

  25. Amazingly more awake after breakfast and a little morning walk. I obviously was not yet awake first post. Two MORE good mornin's for LynnD :o)....and wing waves to SacBarb, Tinka, MEK, BarbWA, EBJ, and all who swoop and hover later.

I usually can't remember dreams (in color, btw) unless I've taken a Benedryl for allergies before bed. Then, they get crazy and I can recall every detail. Until recently, I often had the common dreams of being unable to open school locker, showing up for final exams for a class I'd forgotten to attend all semester, etc. For years I've had recurring dreams of being unable to locate vehicle in a parking garage, being lost in a strange (always the same) neighborhood God knows where, trekking through businesses and peoples' yards (ala Ferris Bueller) trying to find my way. However, my most frequent recurring dream is of missing a flight to Hawaii. The reasons vary from being stuck in traffic to realizing my ticket is in my checked baggage, panicking and running through the airport after remembering I'd left my purse with tickets and cash galore in a restroom, etc. These started years before my first trip to Hawaii. I attributed them to the fact that I'd always wanted to go, but since I'd never been there, I couldn't visualize actually getting there. Now that I've been several times and still have the dream every month or so, guess I need a different interpretation.

The recurring dreams I love most are the occasional 'out of body' soaring over the landscape dreams and dreams of swimming at the bottom of the tropical pool, breathing normally, for extended periods of time. That's the one that really makes we wonder, but it is SO much fun!

  26. Barbwa: After all that discussion about 70s sparkly disco shorts, roller skates, Michael Jackson, moonwalking & dreadlocks...THEN it got weird???? What was it before? LMAO.

  28. Shirley LMAO!!:)

MEK I was shocked when I read George Carlin had died! Love him or hate him he always went to the core of the matter and made you think!

Bon: Love those out of body dreams too! Mr. Lynn D has read alot about out of body dreams and the jerking awake and many believe this is our soul actually leaving our body to explore and reconnect. The jerking awake occurs when the soul is re-entering the body.

I was just looking through his books and I am amazed at how many he has on this subject and about dreams. No simple guides tho. Mostly they are written by PHD's.

Actually he has some pretty out there books. :)

  31. FYI

A scriptural interpretation for bad or falling teeth indicate that you are putting your faith, trust, and beliefs in what man thinks rather than in the word of God.

In the Greek culture, when you dream about loose, rotten, or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very sick or even near death.

According to the Chinese, there is a saying that your teeth will fall out if your are telling lies.?

It has also been said that if you dream of your teeth falling out, then it symbolizes money. This is based on the old tooth fairy story.

Another theory is that dreams about your teeth reflect your anxiety about your appearance and how others perceive you. Teeth are used in the game of flirtations, whether it be a dazzling and gleaming smile or affectionate necking. These dreams may stem from a fear of your sexual impotence or the consequences of getting old.

Teeth are used to bite, tear, chew and gnaw. In this regard, teeth represent power. And the loss of teeth in your dream may be from a sense of powerlessness.

In the latest research, it has been shown that women in menopause have frequent dreams about teeth. This may be related to getting older and/or feeling unattractive and less feminine.

  33. News of the weird: I dreamed early this morning that Steffi Graf had taken up college football, and was playing quarterback for Stanford. While I was watching a game, the poor girl got sacked and lay on the ground for a long time before getting up.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled Freud/Jung/iteach sort of dreams!

  34. ... But what amazes most about dreams is not the specific content, but the underlying mechanisms (sorry, Glynis!)
Owls, if you think about it (!), dreams are personal motion pictures, are they not, complete with stage (setting), props, script, and actors.
My question: What part of the brain is responsible for writing the plot? How far ahead of the current "scene" is getting plotted? How does the brain decide when the story is finished? Where is the producer and the director?
    OMG, dreams are weird!

    ReplyDelete

  36. When I was a child, I always used to dream that soldiers were marching down our street and taking us out of our houses and killing us. I had this dream over and over. More recently, since I retired (almost two years ago)I have the same dream that I am still underwriting for Chase and that I am always telling people that I have worked there for free and then I say for how long. It is weird because the length always is the same with how long since I have worked. One other dream I have is about my deceased husband and that he was just "lost" and I don't know how to tell MrD that I now have two alive husbands! I am exhausted by the time I wake up after all these things going on and I dream all the time! I haven't noticed if it was black and white or color..I will try and make note tonight!

  41. Bono - thanks for that list - it put a smile on my face!!

Dianne in Denver - thanks - here's how we spent our anniversary - just a typical day in the life of the MEK's...

After reading the newspaper and seeing that Target had the WII in their ad - we headed up the interstate - hit Target - they had about 20 of them - SCORE -so we bought that and another game - then a lady (our age) said - OH, you need to get the Rockband (apparently, it just came out - has the guitar, drumset, mic and game - i think something else is in there) - anyway - she said - you'll find yourself playing as much as your KIDS!!! LMAO - we don't HAVE any kids!!) - SO, we bought the rockband!!

Then - since Michael's is right across the parking lot from target - had to go in there and see if they finally have gotten a new punch I am looking for - they finally have a HOOK for it - but it was empty!! so - I'm getting closer.. but I left empty handed - yes, don't faint!!!

Then, we ate lunch at Wendy's (ordered off the value menue) - heck, we had just spend a boat load of money at Target!! Mr. MEK had to go to Big Five - didn't get anything...

Then, hit Frye's to get the Kitchen Aide blender that was on sale - my blender sucks and I have always wanted a kitchen aide one - SO, I now own that.......

We bought ribeye steaks to grill and potatoes and salad fixings!!

had a wonderful dinner - steaks were great!!

Then watched the olympic trials for the girls gymnastics.... mr. mek went to bed before 8pm, so i watche "the queen" and then i went to bed before the news was over..

    Now - isn't that exciting!!
    LOL.......... yes, 12 years!! LOL

  47. Dreams fascinate me. I dream in color. There have been times when my sister and I dream the same thing on the same night.
The brain is very complex. It can hold many things inside and be "cataloged" in the back of the mind. It can come out in our sleep.
Stress can cause bizarre dreams. Medications can cause deep sleep and bizarre dreams.
A few nights ago I dreamed that Dave got 3 vehicles at the car auction: a red small truck, a mini van and a 4 door white car. I told him in this dream that he had the opportunity to buy 8 vehicles at auction. At noon time that morning I called him and he told me he did indeed get a mini van and a 4 door white car but he dropped out of bidding on a small red truck. He told me he had 8 vehicles on his list to bid on.
This hasn't been the first time my dreams held true.
Some of my dreams are so creative that I feel they'd make a great movie. :0)
I read different books on dreams and I love reading Sylvia Brown's books on dreams.

  48. Dianne: Good to see you here and feeling better. About 6 months after my husband died I had a dream that he came home one night after I got home from work. I was shocked and I asked him where he had been and then I said "what am I going to tell everyone...we had a funeral and everything!" He really didn't give me an answer. It seems that I was more concerned with how I was going to explain it. I guess it just meant that I wished he hadn't died.

  49. iteach Congrats on being first today. I interpret your dream to mean that you released your babies to someone who you knew would keep them safe and love them. (((HUGS)))

EBJ What a great blog today. Thank you. I usually forget my dreams soon after waking. I know I've had very disturbing ones that put me in down mood all day. I've also had some great sexy dreams but just when things are getting really good, I wake up. I try to go back to sleep to get the dream back but it never works. Why is that?

One dream I've had more than once is that of a vicious doberman jumping over a tall fence and coming down on me, teeth bared. In mid-dream I change the dog, however, into a friendly one, one I used to have named Holly. So then everything is fine.

Custard says that although he used to dream about me on occasion during all these years, it was because of dreaming about me 3 nights in a row that got him to contact me. He says he nearly sat up in bed on the 3rd night because there was such a feeling of urgency to it; that I was in some kind of distress and needed his help. In fact, it had been 8 mo. since my husband had died and I was beginning to feel like I was drowning in the grief. Things that make you go, "Hmmmmmmmm....".

  50. Good afternoon to All!!

EBJ: I dream in color, and some of my dreams are incredibly weird, others frightening, some funny...I guess I run the gamut.

One re-occuring dream from childhood, starts with me hearing "Boom Boom Boom Boom" way off in the distance. It sounds like huge footsteps getting closer and closer. I never have seen what is coming to get me, but that one still scares me.

I often can fly in my dreams, and snap my fingers and have things happen magically. I think this just means I want to be in control of my life.

I once had a dream where Mr Z's brother was trapped upside down in water. I called his mom and told her to warn him. Of course they hummored me, but thought I was crazy. The next day, driving through the rain, my BIL lost control of his car on a curve and ended up upside down in an irrigation ditch. He was ok..but from that time on, Mr Z's family would always ask if I "had any dreams" about them!

Last one (though I got a million of 'em). On my birthday, 3 weeks after my dad passed away, I dreampt that I walked into the kitchen, and he was there, smiling. I ran and hugged him, and asked him when he was coming home..and he said "I can't come back sweetheart. But I want you to know I'm ok and happy." I woke up crying and smiling.

  51. Hi there,

Can anyone make themselves wake up?

Once in a great while, I will have a scary dream, and before something terrible happens, I can make myself wake.

My huz on the other hand cannot, and sometimes he will wake me up with his moving or talking in his sleep. I have asked him why don't you just make yourself wake up? And he says he can't.

I don't know if I dream in color or not! I've never even thought about it.

JL it is so interesting that Custard contacted you when he did, it must have been the connection you had all those years ago.

I wish I was like my co-worker who dreams of winning numbers. She is so lucky!

The smoke is terrible here, now the sky is white and the air is heavy.

Goodwill finally came a while ago, I was beginning to think they weren't going to show up.

  54. SACBARB: My dreams about my deceased husband have that same feeling to them that yours does...how are we going to explain it to everyone. I didn't have one dream about him until after he was gone about 2 years and Lord knows I tried to have them every night back in those days!

I asked for a dream book for Christmas and my husband gave me three of them so if anyone needs me to look something up..I have the material!

I have never been able to wake myself up from a dream but I can go back into them. Weird, huh?

MEK: Well, it sounds like your Anniversary was a fun shopping day! We celebrate just about as fun as you do. What happened to those days where you go out to dinner and dancing, etc? I would probably fall asleep..not good for an anniversary party!!

  55. Hi ZonaBaby - I see you are up. I just woke up too. My girl is resting. She leaves on the bus in the morning. Her plane leaves on Wed. but her schedule is tight so we are putting her on a bus and ferry tomorrow morning. She will spend the night in a hotel in Vancouver.

I remember when I used to have pleasant dreams and they would affect my whole day. Fortunately I don't remember many of my dreams but when I do they are always night mares. I have a recurring one of being lost in the dark and can't find my way home. A therapist once told me to keep track of what is happening in my life when these night terrors occur. They might be connected to stresses in my life. The other recurring dream I have involves teaching even though I have been retired from school for ten years. I am either having difficulty getting to school or a concert is going all wrong. I would gladly trade my dreams for ones of pleasant happenings, maybe with Vince Gill or Alan Jackson in them. I mention them because my sister was always dreaming of those two and I was envious.
Are you going in the pool now?

LYNND: Two nights ago I dreampt that my hair fell out..do you think it means I THOUGHT something I wish I hadn't?? If so, it must have been quite a thought..cuz I was bald!!

IBB: I always thought Bobbit was a particularly ironic name...

SACBARB: I've heard Phx called "the ashtray" instead of the Valley of the Sun, because of the way all the pollutants settle here.
I'm glad you had a "pee warning" dream instead of a "pee uh-oh" dream. ;)

EBJ: Great blog topic today...oh and tongue piercings..oookkaaayyy...LOL!!

BONO: OMG..the "I can't remember my combination and I'll miss the test" dream...I hate that one.

BARB/WA: Whenever I dream about famous men..ummm...really 'weird' stuff happens too...;)

    J/LIN: Yeah..like that..only I don't wake up..;)

MEK: Now you've done it..I'm coming over to lay on your sofa in your cool, need socks house and play the Wii. Only if invited, of course. ;)

DIANNE: Love seeing you swooping in..!!

JODI: LOL about Mr Jodi....I betcha you're right!!

WHABBEAR: I always thought dreams were a release of the sub-concious, helping us let go of our worries..albeit in some weird ways!

TINKA: Hope you're having a good afternoon with your visitor.

I think I need a nap now to see if I can drum up some Hugh Grant dreams....

  62. Hi Everyone!

I have enjoyed reading about everyone's dream experiences. Very interesting!

I ALWAYS dream in color! And my favorite dreams are when I am floating or flying. I feel so free, no worries, problems or anxieties, just freedom.

I too have recurring dreams, and most of them are about my deceased husband. In most of them, he is not with me. Or his family won't tell me where he is. It's like he doesn't want to be with me or our family. Very disturbing. I always wake up from those with real tears coming from my eyes, and my day is always a bummer!

But, I have had good dreams about Larry too! And those usually involve sex! (yes, Donna Jean said the word) Those are my ABSOLUTE favorite!!

Teeth falling out, being naked in public, driving too fast and can't control the car, plunging over cliffs, huge waves coming to shore and I can't get out of the way, and also having to go pee and the only bathroom stall has no door, (I usually need to really pee then). These are all of the seemingly regular dreams I have. I don't like those too much either.

I also dream alot about celebrities. Weird, huh? I don't have any real fixation on celebrities, but they are in my dreams alot, and we are all friends, just hanging out doing things. Not like I am obssessed over them or anything. They are just there like normal people, but they are celebrities!

I love discussing my dreams, but I don't like having them analyzed. Makes me too scared to think about the answers!

    Welcome back Joey!

Dianne~so very glad you are getting better. I hope you can kick that nasty oxygen tank to the curb soon!

Miss Laurie is finally better too! She actually went back to her Day Program today! She was home for over 2 weeks, way too long! I guess it was just a stomach virus. Her Dr ordered some anti-anxiety medication for her, but I haven't given her any, since she finally seemed to get well and start eating. I don't want to start giving her those meds unless it is really necessary.

She is happy again, laughing, and we even went to a BBQ yesterday at a friend's house, and there were other people there from her program, and she was actually up and dancing, and sitting by the pool having a blast! (she won't get IN the pool, however)

EBJ & SacBarb~ VERY smoky and smelly here in Santa Rosa too. I think we are getting the Napa fire smoke. I couldn't believe how close the Brisbane fire came to all those houses! Very scary.

Well, I hope everyone enjoys their Monday evening.

Is anyone watching Nashville Star? Who do you all like? I have a couple of favorites, like the girl who is a bit full figured and sings like Bonnie Raitt or Wynonna! I hope people will vote for her. I don't have a favorite male singer yet.

Till later, Peace and Love, DJ

James said he dreamed that he was driving in a car and Rick was next to him. Rick turned and looked at him and told him that he would be ok, that everything would be alright. James didn't even know that Rick had died until my sister told him when he got out of bed that next morning.

  91. Hey MARTHA..I mean ZONA..what are you whipping up for that lunch/dinner for MrZ? Are you having your stand-by of hot dogs or grilled cheese or are you going gormet on me this time?

MEK: Your Anniversary celebration sounds kind of like how we celebrate ours too, except you had a fun shopping day! What happened to those good old days where you go to a fancy dinner and then twirl the night away?? I can't really remember too many of those kind of parties in my life..guess I will have to wait for my 50th...only 45 years to go!!

TINK: I laugh to myself each time I see you write about your "girl" and what she is doing. I keep thinking of JODI'S "girls" and I have to get my mind straight..hee hee!!

J/L: So sorry you had to have your long time cat pass away..boy, that was a lot of years. Did you have him all that time?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I want to thank everyone for their kind words and sentiments, both here and on MySpace. This is the really tough part about having pets. (((HUGS))) to all of you.

  93. Hey gang had lunch and then had to do some running around. Those seniors are a wild bunch! LOL

DonnaJean: So glad Laurie is feeling better and having some fun!

I kept thinking about dreams all day and I remembered one of my many step brothers growing up had a recurring dream about being chased by Vampires in a Volkswagen! LOL

EBJ: I can wake myself up and if I am really lucky I can sometimes make myself go back to sleep and resume a dream.

I did have a dream about a year ago that a man was standing over the bed and was choking me. I thought I had woke myself up and was convincing myself I was ok but then he was there again.... Scared the piss out of me it was so real. I had to really fight to wake up from that one. It was one of the most vivid and real dreams that I had ever had.

    Really creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Oh JustLin I am so sorry about Tex. My condolences to you. (((Hugs)))

    ReplyDelete
  95. iteach: I don't have too many recurrent dreams, but one that I do have is all about facing math finals in high school without being prepared. I can't remember a single situation that prevents me from being prepared, but there's a new one every time my delightful subconscious decides to torture me with that dream. LOL!

I think my subconscious really is a nasty bitch. Another recurrent dream of mine involves flying. But flight is not effortless in these dreams; the faster I want to go, and the higher I want to get, the harder I have to try (and I don't always succeed in climbing as high or moving as fast as I want).

Plus, its always a bit of a challenge to get off the ground initially; sometimes, even when I start running first, to get some speed up, I can't plug into the flying "mode", and liftoff just doesn't happen.

OMG, when it is working, though, is it ever fun to fly!

But OF COURSE, my subconscious, being the nasty bitch she is, it's also much easier to fly alone than in the presence of anyone else! Why is THAT part of my dream? It means if I tell somebody I can fly and offer to demonstrate, it's much more likely that I'll try, fail, and look like a lying idiot.

So I have to keep my flying abilities, and my superhero status, to myself!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Whabbear I'm sorry, but your flying dreams had me ROFLMAO! I so needed that! Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Good Evening Feathered Friends!

    ITEACH...congrats on first!

JUST LIN...{{{hugs}}}. Your kitty is only as far away as your heart.

EBJ...fun topic! And a great song, too! I always dream in color and if I am awakened during a particularly good one, I can usually go back to it if I go back to sleep soon after. I always had the recurring one about missing class for the entire semester except for the final. I think all college kids have them. Yesterday during one of my many naps, I dreamed that I forgot to go to my new desk today! But I didn't ;)

In college, I took a psychology class and we had to keep a dream journal...and then interpret them in Freudian terms. Apparently everyone dreams, but don't remember them all because of all the other things on our minds when we are awake.

SHIRLEY...OMG is was ROFLMAO about your friend!!

Condolences to the Carlin family and the world on the loss of a genius.

  98. EBJ & DOnnaJean: Our air is so bad the news people are advising us not to vacuum or do any other strenuous work/exercise. So, I guess I won't. Love it! The haze here is very thick with particulate matter because there are fires on all sides of us. I think the Fairfield fire and the one in Butte County are the worst.

J/L: I am so sorry for the loss of your cat.

  100. The deleted comment was mine I refreshed and my comment posted again! go figure!

My mom had a dream book that associated dreams with numbers. She would then play the numbers from her dreams in the lottery...never won ;(

Does anyone dream with smell-a-vision? I swear, when I am dreaming of certain things I can actually smell the scents...like cologne, flowers, candles or baked goods...whatever I am dreaming about. Weird!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. MO: I was having a dream one night and smelled the STRONG scent of cigarette smoke. It woke me up and I could still smell it in my bedroom and I swear it was my hubby. I even called out to him to see if he would answer me, but no answer. The smell lingered for about 30 minutes, so I guess it wasn't only in my dream. I do not smoke and no one smokes in my house since my husband died. Very weird.

  104. MEK~ Yes, I think her name is Melissa and she was in the bottom two, but was saved for this week. She is a very good singer, but I don't think she has a fan base, yet.
Bachelorette is on an hour later here in CA. so I can watch both, except I haven't gotten into the Bachelorette this time.

Just_Lin~ I am so very sorry about your beloved kitty, Tex. It is so hard to lose our family pets. I have never gotten another kitty since Romeo had to be put to sleep several years ago. I just can't bring myself to get another kitty. I am still waiting for the time to get a doggie for Laurie, after her surgery. (((Hugs))) to you, sweetie.

SacBarb~ I just talked to my daughter in Sac and she told me how bad it was. Fortunately, the wind came in around 2:00 and blew most of the smoke back, so it hasn't been too bad this afternoon. But, there was no way I could open windows to cool down the house this morning. I just love it when there is a REAL reason (not excuse) not to do housework too! Like when the electricity goes off.

Be very careful, though, and don't go outdoors unless you really truly need to. That air can be very toxic.

Mo~ Yes, I too have smell-a-dream! I can smell everything! Sometimes I can't wait to go to bed just to see what kind of "movie" I'm going to create and watch!

    Till later, DJ

We've had lots of people coming into the clinic in the past month for breathing treatments. Lots of the problem is due to all the fires. It really triggers lots of respiratory problems.

I also still have nightmares, those freak me out. They scare the shit out of me, and I always wake from them, in a pool of sweat.

  113. Cute Story!!!

I was working with a client today in my office. He, his wife and son, are planning a trip to Tucson, to spend Thanksgiving with Family... As we were talking about options in the AZ/Vegas area, he turned to me and said: "Well if we really can't find anything to do we can always go to Area 51"

What? What did he just say?

Area 51 I said, how do you know about that? He then explained about a UFO, hidden, etc...

I had so forgotten about Area 51 actually meaning something, I know it came from Rossland, and Whabby knows the explanation...However, all I could think about was the previous day's comments...

He asked if I like UFO's being I was so interested....

No, I said, I just like those words "area 51"

He looked at me strangely and we continued on to his trip...

Area 51 stuck in my head all day!

    :O)

I hope everyone had a good day. I was so busy, had to go to a baseball game after work and it was fun but made for a really long day. I miss coming here to talk with everyone. :)

Tink: I hope you are doing well and your company is not keeping you too busy.

EBJ: Great topic today! I had a really weird dream last night so it was definately appropriate that you would have a blog about dreams today for me. I dreamed I was dead and couldn't talk to anyone, only my husband a little bit understood I was there and it was so frustrating for me. I was so mad I was dead and no one could see me/hear me. Everyone was sad and I couldn't comfort them.

My heart goes out to you. You've had Tex for such a very long time, almost 19 years. I am on my way to bed and will include you and Tex in my prayers. Tex is at the Rainbow Bridge gate with all of the other pets. He is healthy and strong and happy.I hope that offers you some bit of comfort. We are here for you!
