my neighborhoods, and the friends i have
made along the way

i am a "jersey girl" in every sense of the
word, from the big hair, to the accent, to

when the musical "Jersey Boys" was just
coming out it was all over my neighborhood,
as you see the "Jersey Boys" are from my
neighborhood, so we all knew the story,
we lived it

i went to see the musical in nyc, the week it
opened and it blew me away, it was one of
those treats in life that you just don't want
to end!

it made me wanna kick up my heels and
dance, and it still does!!!!

Mek, On running away..I said the same thing last week to a couple of my Owl Friend's here!

I know this is yesterday's topic but....The other thing I don't like about getting older is the Lack of sleep!!
I would just Love to get eight straight hour's without interruption! I never feel refreshed in the morning. I feel the need to nap in the afternoon's, but like yesterday, I couldn't fall asleep for shit!

I need to get out of this house and do something interesting!
Mo, you're right! I need to Do Something for myself..fast!
    If I just had a car...I would!
Seem's that the people around me are a bit selfish! They do not Care that I sit here day after day and my brain is turning to MUSH!!
You can only do so much housework...I'm Over It!

Ok..end of my Rant! I think!
    Thank's for letting me spill!

  10. Good morning Owlettes~

Just finished reading yesterdays blog, and Tink you're picture is so beautiful. I bet you had a line of young men at your garden gate.

Carol, Love the blog and I'm sure it was exciting to see the Jersey Boys come from your neighborhood. A touch of fame in the area is so exciting. I've been MIA lately, just kind of "done in" with the news of my best friend, Shirley telling me of her cancer. She's 46 yrs. old and it's been very upseting, to say the least. That's right, she's the one who drags me to Bingo, which I don't care for. I keep telling her I'm not as old as all these little old ladies and shouldn't be here. Now, I'll go anytime, with a smile on her face...whatever makes her happy.
Congrats to Jodi on #1, and you vewy, vewy tedious march to 10.

Good morning Ms. Birdee, it's so good to see you. I want you to get out in the sunshine and play. Do fo you because you are a special lady. Thank you again for having your main man, Mr Birdee, help me with my computer yesterday.

From yesterday's blog...Shirley, please know how special you are and do good things for yourself. We care for you so much here and really want you to be happy.

Tina, that was a special blog and it touched my heart. Beautifully done, my friend.

Congrats Bonnie on you daughters wedding and the arrival of more grandchildren.

  14. Good morning!

Loved the video this morning! What great music :) I'd love to see Jersey Boys.

Carol, my sister in law is from NJ and at their wedding, she had the song "Jersey Girl" played so she could dance to it.

I have something else that I'd call her (haha).

Jodi, congrats on being first this morning! Yipee!

Hi to Birdee and Ronnie too!

I'm off today! Have stuff to do around the house and gotta go to Trader Joe's.

I bought some pansy seeds so need to get those planted too.

    Will check back!

  15. Morning Glories!

    Jodi got first!!!

Hiya Birdee and Ronnie and EBJ!

Well that just makes me want to go and see the Jersey Boys! I forgot about their great music!

I have not been to a stage play or musical in years and I think I may have to add that to my list of must do's.

Ronnie: I am so sorry for your friends diagnosis. I hope they have caught it early and she will just have a treatment and recovery. I do know she is lucky to have you for a friend! (((Hugs))

MEK: From Area 51 I had the urge 3 weeks ago to get in the car and just go! If you decide to make an escape come get me and we will do a Thelma and Louise WITHOUT the ending! LOL

Will check in here for awhile this morning and then Mr. Lynn D wants to go see a movie today.

    Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

  19. Good Morning Jodi, my friend, who is first on Sunday.

Good Morning Birdee my sweet little owl, and Ronnie my dear friend with great researching skills on the Internet, East Bay J planting pansies, the charitable Lynn and the lovely Grandma Moses. When Tia lets me sleep until 7:30 the nest is full of friends when I get here. I rather like that. I am like Carol. I don't like to be alone in the nest. It's scary.

I am going to listen to the song now and drink my Tropicana.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jodi was 1st! Glad to know you didn't blow away in the storms. Its doing some nasty stuff out there.

Good morning all- I haven't played the video yet- the thunder is all the noise I believe I can handle at the moment. Why I thought doing shots and drinking beer would be a GOOD idea I have to wonder.....

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good Morning Feathered Friends!

    CAROL...you have an accent???? bwahahahahaha

BOREDEEEE, I mean BIRDEEEE...I was wondering if you take showers because if you took a hot bath you would make chicken soup? bwahahahaha

RONNIE...I am so sorry for Shirley's diagnosis. I am sure that you being there for her will make her recovery easier. As I told the chickenowl, be sure to take care of yourself while taking care of others.

LYNN...what movie are you going to see?? Thank you for all the kind words you send to me...and I know they come straight from your heart. You are so inspirational to so many of us here. {{{hugs}}} my friend.

    SHIRLEY...Listen to what LYNN said to you. We ALL care a great deal for you and want you around for a long, long time. I haven't figured out why we are lead down the path that has so many fucking curves and roadblocks in it, but there must be a reason. And I know I look forward to the day I can say AHA, I navigated thru it all and made it to the straightaway. You can get there, too. Especially if we travel those roads together. {{{Hugs}}}

JODI...I can fully understand and relate to you. A lot of people look down their nose at those of us that chose retailing as our CAREER. I challenge them to do what you do or I did for any length of time. At the hell hole, I work with kids more then half my age and I run circles around them. They bitch and moan and don't do a damn thing. They call off or come in to work and not be present. And this old crackwhore bitch that is almost 50 does the work of 4 of them all together. The owner, who is 4 years older then me even asked me if I knew any other old folks he could hire...we are the only ones that really work!!!!

MEK...that is hilarious how you and your neighbors sat in their living room watching the newbies move in!!! Do they have nice furniture??? LOL

TINKA...you were, and still are the belle of the ball. How stunningly beautiful your picture is.

LOVEY...as Birdeeeee said...hope you are just busy but are well.

I am supposed to meet my cousins and walk around an outdoor art festival today. It is already almost 90 and HUMID...we may last about 15 minutes! One of them offered to treat me to see Sex and the City if we get too hot...I may actually accept the offer.

    C U L8er!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ooops, I forgot to congratulate JODI on getting 1st!! hoot hoot ho ho!!

EBJ...say hi to Trader Joe's for me! I love that place.

GOLDIE...so glad you enjoyed the wedding yesterday. How's the hangover today? bwahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  23. Goldie - How are you doing? Remember if you have a headache that it should be gone by this afternoon. At least I think it should. I can't really remember now. I am so glad you had a great time last night.
I still haven't listened to the song. I have been visiting myspace. I am really showing my age because this is a first for me, listening to the Jersey Boys. I have never heard them. I do love the song "Jersey Girl" by Bruce Springteen but I guess it was 25 years ago that his song was popular. Well here goes the new experience.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Carol, You're just too good to be true. This is the perfect way to start a Sunday. I was so happy when this show came to Sac last year and I loved it too. I play the CD in my car almost exclusively. People that ride with me are sick of it...too bad. I have a friend from Jersey (her license plate is JRSY GRL) and she has the accent and attitude too, but not the big hair. I fall into my NY accent whenever we are together. Thanks so much for posting this clip. Who loves ya baby.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well that was my biggest senior moment of the month. I didn't know "Jersey Boys" were the
"Four Seasons", a group I know so well. It really shows how little I know about the latest Broadway productions. As Tina says "You have to get out more". I loved that video Carol. Thanks for finding it. Now I know why Amicus raved about it. If it comes to Vancouver I am going to see if VIG will go over there and see it with me.
Now to read the comments. This is such fun on Sunday morning when I should be at Mass. I will go this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for asking Mo and Tink- I am actually feeling better. I was rudely awakened by thunder which mde me realize I had an itty bitty little headache, but aspirin took care of it.

I believe the key here is that I need to learn that the old dogs should not try to hang with the young pups. That said, I don't know what a cherry bomb is (it is a shot inside a shot) but they were really tasty! And I thought of ALL you hooters when I was doing jello shots-with whipped cream on top!!!

I saw people and friends I haven't seen in YEARS, so it was a great night. My goddaughter was a vision of lovely and the only traumatic moment was when she came to greet us and started crying. Mr. Goldie was like "what did you say to her??" All I said was as I watched her get married all I saw was that little baby I held the day she was born.

She has always had a crush on my son - they shared crib time, and are only a few months apart in age. She cried at a wedding we were at about 5 years ago when he didn't ask her to dance. But I think she is over him now, at least I hope so for the new hubby's sake!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jodi: Congrats on being #1 today!!

Birdee: Congrats for being the runner up! I can also relate to what you are saying. However, I do have a car, but sometimes lack the motivation to go anywhere!

Ronnie: I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's diagnosis. I agree with LynnD that she is lucky to have you as a friend!

Maureen: I love what you said to Shirley about the "journey" of life and all the road blocks and bumps along the way! You are so right that it is so much easier when we travel them together. I guess this is also what Carol has created here. This is the "rest-stop" along the road where we can get refreshed and refueled!

Thanks Carol for this wonderful place! And thank you all for allowing me to be a part of it! I feel so blessed that I am getting to know all of you wonderful owls and owlettes!

Waving my wing at EBJ, LynnD, G.M., Tink and Goldie!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Carol: Love the video. I am a little out of the "groove" myself. I hadn't heard of the Jersey Boys either. I love the Four Seasons too! Very cool!

I am glad you are proud of where you come from! I love the Jersey accent!

Maureen: I agree that too many young people (OMG...I AM getting old) don't have a very good work ethic. I completely know what you are talking about!

I was in retail for most of my working life, so I KNOW what you guys are talking about! In fact, at one point, I was an assistant manager for a music store (Camelot music) and some of the kids I trained were pathetic! They had no desire to do a good job and I don't even think they knew what it meant to work hard!!!

I AM showing my age, aren't I?! LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Jodi. Congrats on #1 and #10. I love the pics you posted of your beautiful Sam.

Birdee: So good to see you here in the nest. Crank up that stereo and belt out a song. That always makes me feel better.

Ronnie: Good to see you posting too. I will keep your friend in my prayers. BTW, how's the fisherman?

    EBJ: Have fun at TJ's.

LynnD: I saw "Raiders" last week and I loved it. Harrison Ford is still yummy.

    Goldie: **whispering** Good morning.

Mo: Opt for the movie and A/C. You can be comfortable and watch Big at the same time.

Waving a wing at Grandma Moses and Tinka too. MEK will probably be flying in soon.

    From area 51:
IBB: Good for you for pulling off the surprise for your friend. What a generous bunch of friends.

Have a good Sunday everyone. I am off to Church. BBL

  30. Even though I am enjoying the clouds and storms, I also am freaking out by how fast the grass is growing and how I have not been able to mow it (because of all this rain)! I think I might need a machete instead!!!

Bon'O sent me some links to some articles about a condition called "Summer SAD"!!! It's the opposite of the Winter SAD (Seasonal Affects Disorder)! I think that DOES explain why I prefer cloudy days and why I hate the heat! I would put the links here if I knew how to get them here. (Is it a simple cut and paste?)

It's gearing up to be HOT today. I'm sure Sacbarb's area will be hotter than where I am.

Goldie you are HO this morning. Glad you had fun, tho!

Hi to Lynn, GM, Pinkatia, Mo, SacBarb and Jennifer!

    Will be back!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maureen - You were #40. This may be your lucky day.
I so much admire your attitude and work ethic. You are my kind of girl.

Birdee - Have you tried melatonin? That worked for me. It's only a solution if your body is not making enough melatonin. I guess mine wasn't. Now I get a good night's sleep. The world looks and feels so differently when you are rested.
Wish you could fly here. VIG and I would drive you to all the pretty sights on this island.
I love you my little birdie.

Jodi - Sorry it's gloomy there. I know what that's like. We have had our fill this year. Today the sun is shining and it's great to be alive.

Ronnie - I am so sorry about your friend. I have had some losses this year and I know how hard it is to stay happy. Hopefully she will soon be better. The statistics are on her side. Research is making such good progress in so many areas of cancer.
I am so happy you are my friend. Thank you for your friendship.

East Bay J - I would love to see the Jersey Boys too. I can play the song "Jersey Girl" over and over again. I enjoyed the movie
"Jersey Girl" with Ben Affleck too.

Lynn - You have a wonderful Sunday too. Enjoy the movie.

Grandma Moses - I went to send you a picture comment to thank you for the kind words about my picture and you aren't on my list. Do you have a myspace? Add me if you do.

SacBarb - I am going to buy the Jersey Boys CD. I bet it's great. I love the Jersey accent too.

Goldie - You are still a young pup. Kick up those heals girl.

Jennifer - You made me feel so much better when you said you didn't know about the Jersey Boys either. I no longer feel it was a senior moment and that is good for my self image. I am having so many of them lately. Thanks for the lift.
Joey will teach you how to do a link. Just ask him. He has helped so many of us with that.

Hi Bear - missed you yesterday. Did you like my picture?

((((Hugs))))) to my daughter Zona this morning and ((((Hugs)))) to my good travelling friend VIG. Hurry home.

Carol - I want to echo the sentiments of all the owls who thank you for all that you do for us. Your work here has helped so many. I hope you know how how much we appreciate you.

Iteach and Just Lin - I bet you are having a wonderful time. I can't wait to hear all about your exciting trips.

EBJ - I just saw your new name for me "Pinkatia". Aren't you inventive? It makes me feel important. You know, like
    "Benifer".

A big shout out to Amicus, Tina, BonO and all the other owls who are either at church, busy with Sunday activities or sleeping in. Have a wonderful day everyone.

  40. Good Morning Owls!

I love the music from Jersey Boys and would love to see it.

Gotta run and will come back later, but wanted to thank Barb for talking to me yesterday afternoon. I needed to talk to someone who knew where I was coming from! HUGS to you Barb for being such a great friend!!

  41. Good Morning Glynis - Sounds like you are going to have a busy day.

Good Morning Mek, Ibebold, Dianne, Shirley, K-Girl and Joey.
Who am I missing? A special Good Morning to her.

I don't know where the second "how" got into my post to Carol. I think the gremlins did it just so that I don't get "A" on my post this morning.
I am off to myspace and then I had better get busy around here.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Good Morning Owls!

    It's Jersey Boys Sunday!!!!!

Doing a happy dance! Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this show?! ;) That video is from the 2006 Tony Awards when Jersey Boys won Best Musical. Well deserved!!! :)

Here's the link for tour dates if anyone wants to find out when it will be in a city near you. "Skip" the intro and click "Show Locations."

    Jersey Boys Tour

The 1st Nat'l Tour is in Cincinnati, OH, right now. Christopher Kale Jones, the lead Frankie, is leaving the tour at the end of the Cincinnati run though so if you live close by, I hope you get a chance to see him before he leaves. He's fantastic! :)

There are other JB companies performing in Las Vegas, Chicago, and of course, New York right now with open-ended runs.

Tinka: Jersey Boys isn't scheduled to come to Vancouver anytime soon, but just in case it does someday, I'll warn you ahead of time that I would not take my mom to see it. She would be offended by the language and would walk out shortly after it started. :)
BTW, your senior pic is beautiful! You look like a movie star!

My post is already too long so I'll just wave HI to everyone! :)

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hi, everybody! I just got caught up on all the comments from yesterday and today. Fabulous!

Glynis: What an excellent point! I think Jay Leno just published a blog somewhere too where he points out that we are privileged here in the US on so many levels and in so many areas; we should indeed celebrate the fact that we have a change to grow old! Well said, G!

Shirley: My headmaster at my high school used to say that God must love the average man, because He made so many of them!

Carol: Jersey Boys ROCKED! Loved it!

Goldie: The wedding sounded like so much fun! I'm glad to see jello shots were involved, and the whipped cream on top was just the ticket! :)

I'm a little hung over myself this morning... courtesy of a dinner party last night at our friends Ken and Ben... totally fun, too, though!

MEK: LOL@Big Brown taking a "big brown"! I had every intention of betting on him, but couldn't end up squeezing a trip to the local track into my schedule yesterday afternoon. Thank goodness for that!

Waving a wing at HOdi, birdee, ronniegirl, the lovely Tinkatia, IBB, Lynn D, bon'O, 'weenie, Sleep, East Bay, GM, SacBarb (you liberal, you!), Jennifer, et. al.

MEK: Isn't your great escape going to be the 2nd BABB this year?

Do you like Pina Coladas? :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. figured I would do something different....lol

    ReplyDelete
  45. 51 so there gotta go! waving at ya all!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Morning All!!

CPGEM: Thank you for the great video clip! AMICUS and SACBARB have talked about the show, and now I can see why they love so much. I know this is a little off the topic, but Frank Sinatra is my favorite boy from Jersey. ;)

JODI: Congrats on FIRST! We had the disco music blasting last night..."Push push in the bush.." I am still surprised that's an actual song!! LOL

BIRDEE: Good to see you this morning. I love that I'll see your chickenowl avatar all day. Guaranteed smile.

RONNIE: I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, Shirley. {{HUGS}} to you and I'll be sure to pray for her.

EBJ: My mom's favorite flowers were pansies. We could never grow them here because of the heat..at least that's what I always blame my flower failures on, in reality my thumb is just not green.

LYNND: The last stage play I saw was "Grease"..holy crap that was a long time ago!

TINKA: Well, I'll admit it...I didn't know "Jersey Boys" was about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons either. I definately need to get out more!!

MO: It is 90 here right now. I'm glad you are going to get to stay inside today. The heat plus humidity just makes me wilt.

GOLDIE: Jello shots w/whipped cream on top?? Oh my!! Despite recent rumors..I've still never tried them, but that seems the way to go! Where? For me, right under the table!!

SACBARB: IT WORKED! Thank you so much for the suggestion. Mr. Z thanks you too!! SWAK!

Waving Hi to GLYNIS and JENNIFER!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Amicus - Thank you for the information on the Jersey Boys. No I won't take my mom although she would like the music. She doesn't like naughty words. Thanks for the sweet compliment about my picture. I uploaded it to myspace so you can see the dress. I wish I still had it. It's so old now it probably has disintegrated. LOL
Would I enjoy the Jersey Boys CD even if I haven't seen the show?

Whabbear - Good Morning. You and Goldie both needing aspirin this morning? Oh to be young again. Actually I do like having a clear head in the morning but the partying was fun.

    ReplyDelete
  48. HI KGRL! HI BEAR!

Ok..getting totally weepy thinking about the flowers EBJ is planting..will see y'all (for JOEY) later when I snap outta it..

    ReplyDelete
  49. I didn't know how it jumped from 51 to 61 ( I felt like Rip Van Winkle) and then I see it was East Bay J marching to the tune of her own drummer. You have energy this morning girl.

    ReplyDelete
  50. ZonaBaby - You cry all you want to. It's good for the soul. Don't let anyone tell you to "snap out of it". I don't want to pay for any therapy that you would need if they stopped you from crying. I love pansies too. We have winter pansies growing everywhere during those grey months when we all need a little colour. Speaking of colour I agree with you about Birdee's myspace page. That blue is gorgeous.
It was great talking to you on the phone all last evening. If we had Jodi's phone plan we could do that every night. Stay cool my little one.

    ReplyDelete

  54. Hi IBB!

Trader Joe's is a grocery store, but they have healthy food, lots of organic.

Here's the web site (I don't know how to make a hyperlink like Amicus and Joey!)

    http://www.traderjoes.com/about_tjs.html

    ReplyDelete
  55. EBJ--
do they have them on the east coast!???

    ReplyDelete
  56. Tinka,
I wasn't thinking of your mom when I mentioned my mom. :) I was worried about whether or not you would be offended by the language. The f-word is used several times in the show, and it's also on the CD.

I love the CD, but it's not a complete cast recording, meaning a lot of the dialogue isn't included so you won't get the whole story from the CD. The music is fantastic though!

    ReplyDelete
  57. IBB yes they are on the east coast, too. Here is a web page with their locations.

    http://www.traderjoes.com/locations.asp

    ReplyDelete
  58. They have very reasonable prices, and really good wines! They are famous for their "2 buck Chuck".

    ReplyDelete
  59. EBJ-- there is one about an hour away from me... the city where my niece lives.. might have to check it out when we are down there for Graduation next week...

    ReplyDelete
  60. Good wines you say..
I think I can Hubby in there just on that alone!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. So they would probably have wines from local vineyards..
    YUMMY...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Goldie---(Whispering) I was doing jell-o shots with you last night... never had them with whipped cream!!!
I took tylenol and ibuprofen before I went to bed!!!!
I could tell you a very funny story about the last time I tried to keep up with the YOUNG PUPS!!!!
SHHH be quiet MEK!!!! ( she is laughing her ass off right now)

    ReplyDelete
  63. MEK--- sending you huges hugs... and soooo sorry about the loss of your friend... drunk driving accidents are so sad... especially when you are not the drunk but such an innocent victim!!!!

    LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Mek - I am missing a story somewhere here. I will find out and get back to you. I am sorry for whatever you have gone through.

Amicus - I am sorry I misunderstood you. I thought you were speaking theoretically when you said my mom would have "walked out of there". I knew that you knew that my mom couldn't walk anymore. Anyway that is not a favourite word of mine but it's like nudity in a film. Sometimes it has to be there to make the story realistic. Thanks for looking out for me. (((Hugs)))

I have to cut back on computer time. I have been on it (except for the short time it took me to eat my shredded wheat) since I got up at 7:30 this morning. Now it's time for Slim Fast and a nap. I can hear those words again, "Tinka get a life", but this computer and blog are so much fun. I will be back this afternoon. Have fun everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  65. First I must check out the new picture.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I just wanted to do a Whabby and tell my "Sista' Owlettes", thank you for your kind words. Shirley's surgery hasn't been scheduled yet, but I know behind that fake smile she has right now, there is only one set of footprints in the sand. Of course we're praying for good things.

Do y'all remember in February when she had a different surgery and was such horrible patient? My dear friend thought she was in a five star hotel and I was concerned about her behavior toward those wonderful people who took care of her. I have found, through the years, when she can't help herself and has to rely on others, she becomes a bear. (no offense Whabby..lol) Otherwise, she's is THE most soft spoken and giving person you'd ever want to meet. Actually, she is the 'little sister' that God tucked under my wing to love, after I was grown.

I'm sorry for being a blog hog, I guess I just needed this out there in the Universe. I'm so surprised at myself for going this 'public', when I'm such a private person. I guess I really DO belong here.

sacbarb~the fisherman won't stay off the phone. I guess I'm still in lust, and not sure what he's in. (no cracks, Tina) Seems like he's getting serious...but I do love being called Baby. It needs to slow down.

Thank you again Carol. I guess I finally realized today, how therapeutic writing and sharing can be. It's so much more than just laughs. Seriously, this is a gathering of the cream that has floated to the top.

Hello to everyone who flew in after my last post a few hours ago. I just can't do anymore now. Just please know, I am touched by the kindness shown to me, and especially for someone I care about so much.

    Do I click 'publish'?
Hell yes...put it out there, Ronnie.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Sorry the picture is so small, I tried to make it bigger several times, however it did not work.

    And

Where are my manners! The pic is from a amazing owl! Hint: Loves to be on the nest!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh my goodness! Look how long that thing is. I'm sorry!!
But I'm not taking it back..you understand...I know you do.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have company, we just ate, and onto dessert.

I will check back later, and read the comments then!

    Everyone enjoy this sunday!

Is that just the best video ever!

    LOVE IT!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ronnie - Good for you for "putting it out there". You know we are here for you. I will keep you and your friend in my prayers.

The picture is very pretty but I have no idea. Any clues? Anyone? Now I am off.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Ronnie - I am happy you found your fisherman. Enjoy it Baby. You need someone to call you that. Everybody does.

    ReplyDelete
  72. This picture is of a beautiful young girl, and after looking at some of the albums on myspace, I think it's SacBarb.

That's my guess, and I'm sticking to it....

    ReplyDelete
  73. Carol ... I forgot to tell you great blog YET AGAIN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Wow...didn't expect to come in here and get away with THAT!

  75. CPGEM--

My friend Quin was Jersy Born and RAised.. even after 30 years in Va... she still had a little jersy accent... but all the attitude...

  78. Good afternoon Owls. I hope everyone's Sunday is going well.

Mo: Enjoy the show and give us a report.

Zona: Glad Mr. Z has found something to give him relief, besides you. LOL

Ronnie: Don't question, just enjoy!!! I'm happy for you and a little jealous. :)

I am watching the Olympic Gymnastic trials and so many of the top athletes are having big problems. Oh my!!!

Waving a wing at all the Owls that flew in since my last comment and all who will fly in after me.

    I don't have a guess either.

  82. Good Morning..

    well, hell, it's afternoon now..

ya'll have been busy!! I haven't been able to read any comments yet -

I'll be back later today - Life really throws you a curve ball every once in a while and the little things just don't matter anymore in the big picture!!

I just wanted to say hi and wish everyone an excellent Sunday!!

(((HUGS))) - PLEASE - do NOT take one minute of life for granted...

    ReplyDelete

  84. My guess is Elizabeth Taylor. When did she join the Nest? Welcome Liz! :)

    Ronnie and MEK: {{{HUGS}}}

    ReplyDelete
  85. MEK (((HUGS)))

    And Ronnie (((HUGS)))

The nice thing here is that there are always lots of hugs to go around.

    ReplyDelete
  86. OK now that I've looked at the picture and read all the comments, I must agree that I think this lovely owl is our Sac Barb!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Good Afternoon Owls...I wanted to make a comment regarding yesterday's blog.
I am now 61 and I am feeling old...not on inside but when I hear myself talk or reminisce with friends. When I sometimes talk to my grandchildren, I can see them looking at me as I did my grandparents..old! I am the worrier type also and I am always worring that something will happen to me and I won't be able to see my grandchildren grow into adults. I constantly try to push these thoughts from my head..I am a cheerful person but my glass is not always half full!!

TINK: What a beautiful picture of you yesterday. You look like the angel you are in your current pictures.
Hi Zona_Still_In_Denial_About_Jello_Shots.....if only someone would believe my stories about you!! At least you are in good company with Goldie and IBB tossing those shots!

A couple of friends and I have tickets to our theater here in Denver and Jersey Boys will be coming in December. AMICUS: Did you or anyone ever see Ma Ma Mia? I recently saw this show and I loved it and all the music!! (part 1)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Part 2

I just want to say that it is always such a welcome in the morning to see Good Morning Glories from LYNND and always at the end of the night to see MEK wishing everyone a happy day for the next day. As so many have said, this is a great place to read, post, etc. It is the reason I can't read books anymore...I am too busy reading the Owls Nest..thank you Carol!

RONNIE: I am so sorrty to hear about your friend. I do hope your friend will be better. She probably thinks she is in a 5 star hotel because they charge that much or more at the hospital. I am just beginning to see some of my bills from my week there. I could have taken all of you on a cruise! I think the least they could do is give a massage. Postive thoughts to you and your friend and her family.

MEK: Iam really sorry about the loss of your friend. How quick things in our life can change..and that is what always is scary to me. I also want to send prayers to you and your friends family. I am very sorry.

JENNIFER: I am so like you..I love the cloudy weather and cool. I guess we should move to Seattle. At least we don't have the humidity here in Denver and today it is only 66 degrees. I do like sun but I much prefer fall, spring and winter!

I think the picture is SacBarb too. I doubt it could be MO because I don't think they did those Senior Picture drapes in "her day."

    ReplyDelete
  89. Just flying in to say HEY!!

Just had a bad storm here. I thought we would lose power! A few funnel cloud's were spotted.
No such luck!!! Now I have to make dinner! LOL

Ronnie..Baby!!! Mr. B want's PANCAKE"S!!! ha! He went to the store cuz he want's fresh blueberries in them!!

    Mek, Huge ((((((((((HUGS))))))))

    Ronnie, Huge (((((((((HUGS)))))))))

Whabby, Zona, Jodi, Tink, Glynis, Grandma Moses, Amicus, Mo, EBJ, Lynn, Ibb, Barb, Carol, Tina, Turtle, Goldie, Jennifer...I think I got you all... Ginormous Hello's to all of you! and those that post after me.

    Off to the kitchen!!!
    Damn Power! LOL
    xoxoxo

    ReplyDelete
  90. BIRDEE: Fresh blueberried...I would ask Mr B if he knows how to make those pancakes and sit back and relax....I guess that is why I have had more than one husband..I must be too pushy!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I think blueberried and blueberries might be the same thing!!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Thoughts are with MEK & Ronnie & Owls dealing with Mother Nature's wrath today, but...

If it's NOT SacBarb, what about you Dianne?? Or a mystery owl whose photos we've never seen?

I didn't think I'd want to see the movie version of Mamma Mia!, but, after seeing the previews, it just might be good!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I will go with the majority and say it's SacBarb but it's just a guess for the sake of guessing. Whoever it is she is very beautiful.

Dianne - Thank you for calling me an angel. You are so sweet.

Amicus - It's true. There are some times when it's necessary and other times when it is used for no good reason than to get an "X" rating to attract the 'adult' audience. It's sad when it's used without discretion.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Bonnie: I think I will see the movie also. I loved the music more than I thought I would and recognized more than I thought I would too. I loved the costumes and just the story line is cute. Meryl Streep is singing in the movie!

I looked at your daughter's wedding pictures and they are beautiful. What a nice family they all make and yahoo...more grankids for you to spoil!! Have you met them?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Dianne~~Thanks!! Nope, have only 'met' the new grandkids by phone & video so far. Hopefully, soon....but not while it's triple-digits back there. Hard to imagine that taller-than-his-dad-lad is only 13!

    ReplyDelete
  96. MEK- So sorry about your friend. It is very sad and ((HUGS) to you, you know I luv ya and I wish I could say more.

Ronnie- so sorry about your friend too (hugs)

No guesses on the pic- I'll go with the majority...

    ReplyDelete
  97. HOLEY MOLEY!!! Another beautiful senior picture! Wow! Are we a good looking bunch or what????

I have no idea who that is! WOW! OK...I have to take a guess before I read who every one else said. Dang....this is a hard one.....OK...gonna go with Grandma Moses. Now off to see what everyone else says!

    ReplyDelete
  98. MEK - ((((HUGS)))) to you.....that's a hell of a curveball. Luv 2 U.....as always. :D

GOLDIE - Mmmmmmmmmmm.....just got done with supper.....with a side of potato salad!!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. I have no idea.....I'll go with whomever TINA guesses.....she seems to be good at this!!! :P

    ReplyDelete
  100. Glynis.....You're welcome honey....((hugs))

MEK....I'm so sorry about your friend. Call if you need to talk. I don't want to bug you if you're not ready.....((hugs))

    ReplyDelete
  101. Good evening feathered friends!

MEK...my condolences to you on the loss of your friend. I am so sorry. I have NO tolerance for drinking and driving...EVER.
{{{{{hugs}}}}}} to you and your friends family.

I went to my cousins and we had a nice lunch of salads and shrimp. Then I promptly fell asleep on her chair! Woke up at 6 pm...no movie today!

I agree...the pic is of the beautiful SACBARB.

If I can find my senior pic I will send it in....but it is nowhere as beautiful as the ones up so far.

DIANNE...so glad to see you posting. I hope that means you are feeling better!

IBB...thanks for thinking that beauty could be me. Oh, and I meant to tell you how wonderful that was what you did for your friend last night at the walk.

    ReplyDelete
  102. BIRDEEEEEE...blueberry pancakes????? Can I come over? It'll only take me about 4 hours!!

    RONNIE...baby, baby, baby, baby!!

    ZONABABY...cry all you want. It is cleansing. Then think of some funny annecdotes and stories about your mom and laugh a little, too. ok? {{{{hugs}}}}

    PINKATIA...thanks ;)

LYNN...I love ya too, my sister in crackwhoredom!!

BONO...congrats on your new grand-kids! I hope you get to meet them in person soon.

    CAROL...what's for desssert??

    ReplyDelete
  103. MEK~
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, and you are so right in saying to never take one minute for granted. Sometimes it seems like all is right in our own little world and then things beyond our control comes by and jerks the rug out from under us.

When will people learn to not drink and drive? It's sad, and I know his family and friends are in pain because of one person's poor judgement.

    Dianne_blogging_in_Denver~
    It's so good to see you here...just don't over-do.

Waving my best wing to everyone I didn't get to visit with earlier.

Thank you again to everyone for your kindness.

Oh Wait!! "That was More! More! More! How do ya like it?!" something like that! Now, who the hell sang it. Some Disco group! LOL

Mo, there are a few pancake's left! Mr. B ate all but Two! The blueberries were HUGE!!! DELICIOUS!
    See ya about 11:45pm!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Niters, Jodi!

Mo~~I'm gonna chain your little pigsfeet to a nearby branch one o' these days. We don't get to see enough of you...and, thanks much! If they're anything like their daddy whom I have gotten to know and love, they're keepers. He's a real southern gentleman.

    ReplyDelete
  107. BONO...I would love to be chained...even handcuffed to a branch for a while!
I worked 5 nights this week and I am wiped out. Yesterday the asshole had the nerve to mention that there was no one to open or close tonight! As much as I need the money, no way in hell!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Dianne,
The Mamma Mia tour is here in St. Louis right now. :) I saw it last season when it was one of our Broadway Series shows, but it's the only off-series show I didn't buy tickets for this season.

I love the music and enjoyed the show but seeing it once was enough. I saw Jersey Boys three times while it was here though so that should give you some idea of how the two shows compare in my mind. :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Hi Everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Carol~~ "Just so very long and brown..."

    nah, I can't... I won't.... Wouldn't be prudent... :-) :-D~

  129. Wow you guys are good. Thanks for all the compliments. I only wish I looked like that now.

Tinka: I uploaded it to MS, but I couldn't figure out how to get it bigger. The actual picture that I scanned is 5X7 so I don't know why it came out so small.

Mo: I actually met Natalie Wood when I was in high school right after she filmed Rebel Without a Cause. Believe me, I looked NOTHING like her. But Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Bridee:
The Chicken butt is way to tough! As the ass has to be hard to go thru all the shit it goes thru!

I much prefer the tender chunky breast...

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  131. Birdee:
Give mo your chicken butt, as when she gets crazed at the Hell Hole coffee house, instead of screaming, she can gnaw on it!
