Reading and Writing

this blogging thing, has taken my thoughts
and put them into the written word, i have
always loved to write, however i was never good
at putting my words on paper, i never had a diary
or a journal, i might have started one of these
many years ago as a teen, however it might have
been two days the most that the written word
appeared, and i would then shove it in the back
of a closet, to be seen never more

i have also loved to read, i could read a book in two
days, and then go onto the next, i only read hardcover
as the paperbacks, just don't feel the same to me

when this blogging began, i stopped reading, i would
surely go to Barnes and Noble and buy books, but i
would just not pick it up to read, the book of choice
would sit on my dresser waiting to be open, and of
course collecting dust, almost like a treadmill!

i realized this, when sandie blogged about her love
for books, and many of the books she mentioned i
read, the realization made me miss it so

i just have to figure out, how to juggle reading
and blogging, as in life, you learn as you go,
so i need to learn, i need to master the time
issues

i went to barnes and noble today, and spent 2hrs
there, just reading excerpts of books, i bought a
book "The Garden of Last Days" by Andre Dubus III
he is the author of Sand and Fog, which i read and
loved, i enjoyed my visit, and walked out with a smile
and my new book

i will be making a connection with this book in the
next few days, i will be giving myself something that
i surely love, the way i see it, its all about the
juggling of life, the making time for yourself and
sticking to it

special Thank You to Sandie, for reminding me
how very much i love to read!

  2. Well the blog speaks to me this morning Carol. I just had this conversation with my Aunts yesterday about finding some balance and prioritizing things in my life.

Our discussion was about all of us making time to see each other more. My Aunt in Lacey only lives 20 to 25 minutes away and two of my favorite cousins live about an hour away.

We all agreed that we needed to see if we could make time once a month to have some girls time and get together.

It seems that we are all busy and before you know it we go for months and have not been intouch.

I am hoping that we will all stop and work hard to carve out this time as I think it is important.

Glad to see you are ready to crack into that book! Happy reading Carol!

  3. Morning Lynn D! Congrats on being first AND second! I'm up early because Katie is heading off to spend the week with her dad.

Carol: Love your blog! Yes, I felt the same way after Sandie's blog. I went out and bought the rest of the Jane Austin books that I haven't read (as I was also inspired by that movie, "The Jane Austin Book Club"). I have been reading again now that I don't have to be immersed in text books! (As I often felt guilty reading for pleasure when I should be reading the dull, and often dryly written text books).

I do have a lot of projects around the house that I have to tend to, but I have been enjoying a book each night as I try to sleep. That is always my favorite time to read.

Well, I need to spend some final minutes with Katie (now that she is out of the shower). I will miss her so much. I plan on keeping busy to distract myself!

Hello to everyone who flies in later!

  4. Morning owls!

Jennifer~I love to read at the end of the day as well! There is a danger in that tho, I have gotten so involved with the book that hours fly by, hours that I should have spent sleeping.

  6. Good morning Lynn D and congrats on 1st!

    Morning Jennifer and Katie!

    Morning Scirish!

Carol I'm convinced you'll figure out a way to do everything you want without compromising anything. Just remember if you ever decide to stop blogging you'll have a number of very upset owls flying around your house.

  7. Good morning HOoters!!!

LYNN D - Congrats on first!!!

Waving a wing at JENNIFER, SCIRISH, and SHIRLEY, too!!!

SHIRLEY - Thanks for breakfast....I'll take the grilled cheese with bacon!! YUMMY!!!

CAROL - I love to read. My problem is like Shirley's....once I start, it is hard for me to put a book down. My hubby had a solution for me, just read in the bathroom!!! LOL!! It has now been re-named the "library". :D Sad part is, some days that is the only quiet I get around here.

I hope everyone has a great Monday. I'm working a later shift at another store (yippee overtime!!!).

  8. Good morning hooters!

And Lynn is first again! Yipee!

I'd love to find time to read, one of these days things will settle down and I can start enjoying books again.

Things are always so busy and my house is still not unpacked. I look at the boxes in the garage and go UGH.

I think putting aside 1 hour a day to start might be the way to get the ball rolling. Although I've never been able to read for just 1 hour if I find a book I like!

Off shortly to get the yearly squeeze, and do some errands. I'll be back!

  9. Good Morning Everyone. I just wanted to say I am up and I will be back.

  10. Morning to Scirish, Shirley, Jodi, and EBJ!

Shirley: Thanks for another great breakfast. I think I'll try a breakfast pita (and coffee)!

Scirish: You're right. I have been up late reading. It sure beats tossing and turning though!

Jodi: LOL about the "library"! Katie does that too (and sometimes she's in there so long that I think she may have fallen in, but it's just because she was at a good place in her book!)

EBJ: Reading for an hour is a good way to start! Katie loves to read too and we decided we would definitely be devoting time each day to turn off the TV and read instead! We've been doing pretty good so far!

Well, I need to get outside and tackle those weeds (yes...plural)! Since it's finally not raining, I might actually get the lawn mowed too! Then I may tackle the painting (or go to my friend Cindi's house). Either way, I must stay busy so as not to miss Katie as much!

Bruce is dragging me back to mediation because he is focusing on the "gray areas" of the divorce decree and he wants to manipulate it! However, he refuses to go back to the person we went to before (because the guy told Bruce how ridiculous he was being)! He claims that guy didn't "settle" anything! I told him that if he is going to drag me back then we should just go back to the person who helped us before! So now we can't even agree on who to go to! He is such a jerk (to put it nicely and in a "G" rating)!

    OK...I'm off! Sorry to vent!

  11. Morning Tink! You posted while I was composing a novel! ; )

    Hope Tango is doing better!

  14. Jennifer have fun with the weed...oops...I mean weeds!! Lol!

Can't you both go to someone different and let them hash out the details?

My BIL (soon to be ex) has been dragging his heals. It will be two years Aug.18th that he walked out on my sister and their two kids. He still won't sign anything. She lets the lawyers deal with him. He is such an ass!

  15. Good morning everyone!

You are so right about balancing blogging with other hobbies.

That has been heavy on my mind too!

    Everyone have a great day!

  16. Good Morning Lynn (1st again), Jennifer, Scirish, Shirley, Jodi, Iteach and East Bay J. When you sleep until seven there are a lot of owls ahead of you in the nest. It's a good thing Shirley makes lots for breakfast or I might have missed out.

Shirley - I think I will just have toast and tea for now and come back later for more. I know in a couple of hours that grilled cheese and bacon will be very tasty. Of course once again thanks for the Slim Fast.

Jennifer - You have a hard week ahead of you. This may be the time to get buried in some really good books.

Carol - Thanks for the blog and the reminder that we have to remember to do other things besides blogging. My hobbies are rather falling by the wayside.

Lynn - I so agree with making time to see people. We have such good intentions and each week flies by. VIG and I have been trying to fit an outing into both of our schedules and we haven't managed yet. We will now that summer is here for sure.

Iteach - I am really trying to get back to my hobbies of photography and making DVD's. I have done so little of them in the last year of blogging.

Scirish and Jodi - I had the same problem. A really good book meant it became first priority. Even sleep wasn't important. I always remember "Forever Amber". I started reading it when I first came home from the hospital with my new baby son. He would finish feeding in the middle of the night and be fast asleep. I would read for a few more hours and soon it was morning and I was beat.
I miss reading. I think it was BonO who suggested books on tape. I am going to look into that.

    from area 51 -
Dianne - Yes I got my teddy bear room back together. I spent the whole day on it. I changed the bedding and vacuumed. That was the easy part. Then I put all 500 bears, a few at a time in the dryer to make sure all dust was off them. Then I scrubbed the shelves they sat on. I brought back the few hundred bear ornaments, dusted them and arranged them on the dressers. The next day I did nothing but at least my teddy bear room is pretty clean.

My deck is almost complete. Then I must start working at getting ready for the holiday tomorrow.

See you all this afternoon. Have a great day.

  17. Carol, thank you!! You made me feel so good! And, I return the thanks to you for doing this blog every day for all of us. I know it takes up a lot of your time and I know I can speak for all of us and say, "THANK YOU!!"

Good morning, Lynn (congrats on first!), Jennifer (I really hope your ex realizes he's STILL not happy or he wouldn't be doing this to you), scirish, Shirley (thanks for breakfast and you always make me laugh!), Jodi, EBJ (good luck on the big sqeeze), Tinka (500 teddy bears!!) and iteach!

I have a dear friend who went thru the same things that you are going thru - and it all worked out in HER favor........ she NEVER thought it would end - so - I guess I'm saying - there will be a light at the end of this tunnel and I pray it's YOUR light!!!

  25. Hi Sandie and Mek. Sorry for the rant.

  26. My guess is Goldie. It has to be her sometime!

Again I reserve the right, as a woman, to change my mind any damn time I want.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Shirley, no prob on the rant--it is THE most annoying thing when my computer or the website doesn't do what it should!!

I sent lots of comments to people over the weekend and when I looked for them, they're not there. Some are, some aren't. I don't know what's up with myspace.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sandie, Tink and MEK: Thanks for pulling for me!

MEK, I was esp. touched by your prayers. Thank you! : ) I hope you are right. I am just so tired of him still trying to control me. I just want him to leave me alone!

Sandie: I agree that he is not happy. I also think the guilt of it all is getting to him! He deserves all the misery as he is the one who has created it!

Tink: I am trying to keep busy, but my stomach is not allowing it! I keep running to the bathroom! I won't rest until Katie is back home on Sunday morning.

Shirley: LOL at having fun with the "weed"! I ran to the store to pick up a few things and I haven't started yet. I guess I need to get out there! "chop, chop"! BTW, I get frustrated with things just like you do! Vent away! ; )

  30. Jennifer, I feel so bad for you having to let Katie go. I would have a hard time with that, too. She'll be fine, I'm sure. Just look at it as Mom appreciation time for her as I know she'll miss you, too. Go have dinner with your friend and get in her hot tub tonight!!

  31. Good Monday Everyone! Cooler hazy skies today, but had to close up the house as the air outside smells like clothes dried over a campfire. It's bad enough here that I really feel for all our friends in Northern California.

Carol~Barnes & Noble is my favorite place to shop. I've been staying away as I have so many books ----and even magazines---- waiting to be read. This may be the week to catch up, now that you and Sandie have inspired me. So many other things I need to be doing, though. "All things in moderation" has never been my mantra...maybe it's time.

Shirley~I really shouldn't, but who can resist a grilled bacon & cheese?

Tinka~Tina was my first thought on today's photo as well, but there's something about that virginal white that's throwing me off! I'm thinking maybe not?

Jennifer~Hope you find many ways to stay busy pampering yourself this week!

Wanting to add SO many more shout-outs, but....moderation, moderation. Have a SUPER DAY!

  32. Hello Hooters!! lynn, 1st agin? Way to go girl.

Totally up to my ass and elbows with problems at work today- but I had to have lunch sometime! Just wanted to fly in and say hi.

Jennifer- tell him to kiss your ass and that you are going to sue him for attorney fees if he drags you anywhere..... JMHO and Big mouth there.... *passing a brownie*

Finished my book- thanks again for inspiring me sandie-
    great blog today Carol.

    Back to work I go...

  33. Sandie...just wanted to let you know that I went on to my local library's website and put holds on several of the books from your list the other day. Thank you so much for providing some really good ideas for great summer reading!

Shirley..I had the same thing happen to me. I went to leave some comments and there was suddenly a Rosstalkyblog there to be posted. Very strange.

Jennifer..sending you good thoughts and big hugs and know the mediation will work out for you and Katie the way you want and need it to.

Has anybody heard from the Owls in Phoenix this morning?

    Happy Monday everyone!

  34. VIG - Every time the phone rings I think Arizona is calling but not yet. Tina had better be teasing when she says she is going to get my daughter drunk. She is only allowed coke and lemonade. I am expecting to hear good things from both of them. They are probably in the pool and I don't think the pool has a phone. Call me if they call you please. Remind them we want pictures.

Shirley - I got your picture comment on the second attempt. I love the Canadian Flag. I am having trouble with myspace being so slow. It took the longest time for each comment to post. I was almost ready to give up too.

Jennifer - I am thinking of you today. I have been there and it hurts. I have no advice except to go hour by hour. Find a movie that will keep you happy for two hours. Then try and find something else for the next two. Don't think about how many days until Sunday. You will drive yourself nuts. That was the only thing that saved me was going sometimes minute by minute. I wish I were there to give you a hug.

Goldie - Loved your advice for Jennifer. Kick him hard.

BonO - It isn't as hot today as it is supposed to be. We broke records yesterday. I loved it.
The reason I picked Tina is because I know she went to the same kind of school as I did and we graduated wearing white caps and gowns. We all looked very virginal. For most of us it was true but my best friend had a baby five months after she was married at 19. It sure surprised me. I thought we were all playing by the same rules.

I am off for my Slim Fast and nap. See you all this afternoon.

  35. Hey!

Happy to report that the big squeeze is over for another year. It was not bad at all, each year the machines seem to be a little more gentle.

I was in and out in less than 15 minutes.

Jennifer I know what a pain in the ass an ex can be. Mine was such a jerk after our divorce, and we didn't even have kids!

Once we sold the house (he had moved out first and I stayed til it sold) I didn't tell him where I moved.

He started leaving me notes on my car at work, they got nastier and nastier as time went by and I ignored him.

He started to frighten me as I felt I was being stalked. I talked to a police friend of mine who told me to tell ex that I would be filing some harassment charges against him. He finally stopped.

It really drained me, and I was so glad to finally be rid of him once I transferred to a different hospital.

The last time he reared his ugly head, he wrote a letter to my parents telling them how wonderful they were and how grateful he was to them for all the'd done, but then telling them what a bitch I was! What a dumbass.

So Tina made her way to visit Zona?? And why haven't we heard from them today? Hmmm.

Can't wait to hear about this!

MEK I hope she sends Jason home, but I think it will be Jessie.

I just don't think she knows what she's getting in for with a man who has a child.

She seems so focused on herself, and someone who has a child will always put the child first, as it should be. Don't think our Bachelorette could handle that.

    Just my feeling!

Our water heater is leaking, so I am waiting for the plumber to come with a new one.

This house came with a "warranty", but we still have to pay labor and this and that, so will have to cough up over $300. Luckily the new water heater is covered. eeeks

    I'll be back!!

  36. Hi Hooters,

I just wanted do a fly-by to say 'Hello', and Carol did your blog ever hit home with me. I was being pulled in many directions and had to prioritize what's really important for my 'real life'. Blogging and playing on myspace had overstepped their time, when it should be just icing on an otherwise full life. I began putting some of my 'real life' tasks aside because I enjoy laughing so much. God knows, the Nest brings each of us soooo much joy everyday, but I was also procrastinating a little too much about things needing attention.

I'm learning to balance my time a little bit better and taking care of the non-laughter things first, then return to one of the best parts of life, which is enjoying my humorous friends.

Reading is a favorite time for me, but not sure what happened to those hours....do you think they were converted to playing on the Internet? LOL

I'm taking Carol's favorite expression, "Baby steps", (that would EXclude the one's not 'G' rated), and trying to find the balance. Is this making any sense?

Anyway, Hello to all my friends, and thank you to those that have emailed me...I finally got them all opened.

    Jennifer, Sweet Jennifer~
Here's an expression that I have enjoyed for many years:
'Sometimes you have to wade through a lot of mud to get to the other side.' Hang in there, Honey, the other side is almost in sight. If Bruce ever see's just how much he P.O.'s you, he wins. Keep you sweet smile and never let him know. (You win) Game over!!

Tink~Yes, all of us who went to Catholic school graduated in virginal white. What do you bet HoTina had a touch of red on hers somewhere? LOL
So, my guess is Ms. HoTina!

Love and fulfillment of dreams to each of you. And thank you Carol for giving us this Nest so that we may be tedious, laugh as loud as we want, march, and say dirt words anytime we want. It's a good feeling to know that no one is going to 'pass judgement' on any of us.

    ((hugs))
    Ronnie

    ReplyDelete
  37. ronnie- I just want you to know that I am not catholic and I graduated in virginal white too! ;)

What is that I hear?? Stop that snorting right now hooters!!

Jennifer, I perhaps should have been a bit more tactfull in my opinion, but really believe if he doesn't think he can get away with pushing you around, he won't.
I have a friend who's ex-wife took him to court so many times (and visits to the family court commissioner) he was on a 1st name basis with everyone who worked in the courthouse. He had physical custody of the kids. He FINALLY stood up to her and laid down the law-he would take her to court for every dime he was required to lose from missing work, paying attorneys, gas money to get there, etc. Well, it worked. I hope it works for you too.

  38. okay Ronniegirlbitchho~ them's fightin' words! I went to Catholic school for 12 years! i can't help it if this VIRGIN's school colors were Red and White!

It looks like all of us have been neglecting our book reading and I do enjoy this blog so much. I have a hard time just keeping up with the daily paper sometimes.

I talked to Tina and Zona and they are doing the jello shots already. TINK, do you hear me? I am pretty sure your daughter will never be the same after these two days. I don't know what they are doing today as they were talking about swimming, horseback riding, playing with Nikki, eating..I was confused!

    LOL

Tina~I bet all the girls at your school had a big ole red V embroidered on the sleeve of their graduation gown. I'm sure it was a sight to behold when all the 'virgins' walked down the aisle to receive their diploma's. lol

I sincerely hope the visiting Owls have a great time together in AZ. Love to you both...

    This is 'Ronniegirlbitchho' signing-out.

(I have been 'knighted' with more titles....gotta love it.

  45. Jennifer: I know I have mentioned to you in the past about my now grown kids and ex and how it has turned out okay but I also said it wasn't always easy. My ex used to come to my office from time to time and tell me he was going to try and take the kids. He told me if he wasn't a policeman he would have already left town with them. It scared me every time. I finally talked to a lawyer and she told me to confront him and tell him I had a lawyer and let's get this straightened out while the kids were young, etc. I called his bluff and never had a threat regarding that again from him. How old is Katie? Is she able to call you when she is visiting with her dad? Try and take this week of some "you" time and do things you feel like doing..go and see that movie you have wanted to see (you know, not a cartoon one), maybe have a pedicure and get together with some friends. I think you will feel better doing some things like that for yourself and have some fun. Hugs to you.

  55. I had a crapola day! Work today sucked!

    See ya all later!

    ReplyDelete
  56. The Zona gals have surfaced!! hope you are taking LOTS of pictures!! try to stay cool..

I would like to know if Nikki humped Tina's leg??!!!

cpgem - I'm sorry you had a crappy day.

goldie - sorry your day is dragging on..

dianne - satisified - in Denver - congrats on your first march to 69

EJB - I also truly believe that Jason SHOULD be the one she sends home for all the reasons you stated - but she is SO darn unpredictible...

Ronnie - good to see you playing in the nest...

AND - JOEY has arrived again!! howdy...

is everyone having an excellent day??!!
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Howdie, Hooters!

LynnD Congrats on being #1. I'm glad to see that you didn't melt away yesterday.

Shirley Thank you for another terrific breakfast. Can I eat this way every day and still lose weight? Oh, yes, in the nest I can! Yipee!!!!!

Carol I love, love, love books and bookstores. I also need to prioritize better. I spend too much time on the computer (but shit, that's where you guys are). Also, Custard and I do alot of emailing back and forth so I keep my eye on that. Now that I am mostly retired and widowed, I find I have so much time that I just fritter it away instead of being as productive as I should be. I need to take a look at that.

Special shout outs to Ronnie and Joey!

My guess for the lovely grad is Sandie!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thank you Carol, MEK, and J/L for the shout outs.

Well, just 10 more minutes until The Bachlorette comes on. I agree with you MEK, I think little Jesse is going home, and isn't this the week she starts sleeping with them?

Better get ready for an AMAZING hour.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ronnie - LOL - YES, this is the week of the "fantasy suite" - BUT - last week - Jesse said - "NO, I have not met your father yet" in the preview and her response was "You have got to be kidding" -

All I could think of was - What a gentleman!!!! SO - if he does pass on the suite - that is why I think he's toast tonight..

BUT - I also don't think she is ready for "instant mom" -

    SO - we'll see!!!

have fun watching - then they have the "reunion"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well MEK, If Jesse said NO, then he's gone. lol That means he's not putting himself 'out there' enough.

    We'll talk later.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ronnie At least there's a bit of him he's not "putting out there". LOL

    ReplyDelete
  62. MEK- I did not have a good day.

However, I am making it a good night.

    ReplyDelete
  63. iteach Sorry you had a lousy day. (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ronnie - OMG - i want to know - but I don't - if that makes sense!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Tina - I am happy to see you took good care of my daughter. She is pretty cute if I must say so myself. Glad you had a great time. How about flying up here next? It's cooler up here and VIG and I will show you the sights.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hey I hit # 90 that's pretty lucky I think.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Shirley - I love breakfast for dinner. Is there still some left?
Grilled bacon and cheese sounds great right now..

    ReplyDelete
  69. Jennifer - I hope you made it through the day okay.

VIG - It was fun talking to you on the phone today.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I see Carol, Goldie and Iteach did not have good days today. Remember "tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it." Anne of Green Gables.

    ReplyDelete

  72. I guess everyone is either eating dinner or watching T.V. I will see you all tomorrow bright and early. I am off to watch a DVD on my newly fixed up deck.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ronniegirl - Would you run that by us again please?

    ReplyDelete
  74. ronnie and mek:
she says everyone is perfect and amazing, and then the tears!!!!

at least this show gave me a chuckle today!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Tinka Hey, congrats on getting the 100!!! Enjoy your evening on your deck.

    ReplyDelete
  76. cpgem and Ronnie - what you're telling me is that tonight is NO different than any other night!!

I totally understood what Ronnie was saying!! LOL

tinka - congrats on your march to 100!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Have a question for everyone..

How does one keep an unaltered male cat OFF your front porch? his owner will NOT let him in their house and he has taken up space on our front porch - teasing the hell out of my cats that are inside and he's spraying all over my front porch......... it smells TERRIBLE and I need him GONE!!!!

anyone have any ideas??!!! I've tried spraying him with water and yelling and chasing him - but he keeps coming back!!!

    AAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

    ReplyDelete
  78. This girl is making me sick. I just can't believe all the drama...

    ReplyDelete
  79. we tried orange peels and coffee grounds that the "book" said - but he's been out there ALL afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Mek:
    Exactly!

Oh, shit the reunion is on tonite?

    I had no idea..

    Tinka:
Congrats on 100, enjoy your deck!

    ReplyDelete
  81. MEK~
You could send him to the Fantasy Suite...then he might get a rose too. lol

    ReplyDelete
  82. Sorry Mek, I have no idea!
other than to tell Barney to bark, maybe that will help...

    ReplyDelete
  83. yes, cpgem - the reunion is on NOW for you....
another fine hour of drama free tv..

    LMAO!!

oh - Mr. MEK is home - guess I better go do something about dinner!!!

I have one hour before the drama starts here!!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Ronnie:
    LOL...So funny...

This is one of the reasons I don't read, the wit in here just kills me...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Well Carol...it damn sure isn't the great TV shows. lol

    ReplyDelete
  86. MEK In other words, the cat has an irresponsible owner. There is a product called Feliway. It is the same as the pheramones that come from the glands in the cat's whisker area and that they spread on to stuff by rubbing their mouths/cheeks on stuff. That "marks" it. Well, apparently cats will not spray areas that are marked with these pheramones. You have to wash down the areas that have been sprayed, then squirt pheramones on the areas. Probably more than once a day for a while. This actually worked inside my house when I had a very, very, multi-cat household and a couple of them would spray. The Feliway took care of the problem and they eventually got out of the habit.

    ReplyDelete
  87. J/L~
Do you think if MEK sent Mr. Mek out there after dark he could do a little sprayin' of his own, and mark the porch with his scent? Well, maybe not...that might be against the Homeowners Assoc. By-Laws.

    ReplyDelete
  88. The amazing night owl has been
    revealed

    ReplyDelete
  89. Just Lin - YES, this owner is NOT responsible - heck, they have even put this cat's litter box on their front porch - Like he's going to actually USE it - he likes to use all of OUR yards!!

thank you for the advice - could I assume that I can get this product at Petsmart?!!

    :-)

Ronnie- no - i don't think Mr. MEK will be doing any of that!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  90. Ronnie:
Your are right, TV sucks.. It is much more interesting in the nest...

Especially today, with all the spraying going on.

What the heck is spraying anyway?
    Where does it come from?
    And What heck is it?

You, know, never mind, I don't think I want to know!

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Just_lin:
Good advice, I knew a owl would know, as these dam owls are way to smart!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Sandie~

You are so gorgeous! Then AND now.
I'm sure the boys were lined-up at your garden gate.
I bet you didn't have a touch of red on your graduation gown, either.

I don't know how HoTina does it, though. I think Whabby and Joey need to send their pictures in so the guessing odds will be 50/50.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't know Carol about all the sprayin'. I don't have anything to spray with.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Sandie - thank you SO much for sharing your picture - I am SO bad at this guessing game..

i want to know how in the heck Tina does it!!!!

cpgem - yes, you don't want to know - and it stinks to high heaven...

    ReplyDelete
  95. I have no idea if Jennifer posted this or not, but the mass killer in our little hick town just killed six people within the past two hours and he is still loose.

I know the people he killed!

One of them was a two year old!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Iteach - OMG - that is SO sad - please be careful...

    ReplyDelete
  97. iteach,
Please be very careful. This is just sick...children too!

Sending thoughts and prayers up there to you and your community.

    ReplyDelete
  98. iteach OMG!! How horrible. Stay inside and stay safe. (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  99. iteach- I haven't heard about it. OMG-Stay safe, and so sorry for those people and their families. LOCK YOUR DOORS!

MEK- call animal control or Animal Cops or whatever, maybe the owner will get a ticket too!

My bad day got a lot worse by this afternoon and tomorrow I am going to make my doctor's office sorry they ever heard my name. Incompetent morons. Not my Dr. but his associate and the damn fill-in nurse. I take a medication that I need everyday. My dr. out of office last week when I called for refill and the associate wouldn't fill the perscription.(it is a narcotic that I take for neuropathy and have for 5 years) I ran out at noon yesterday. I called at 7:30 this morning for my Dr (back in the office) by the 3rd call at 3:30 the temp nurse (my dr. back in today but his nurse is not) tells me that it is on the to do list and she will call me back. At 5:15 I call the clinic- they are all gone for the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The poor receptionist felt so bad,
and I was really nice to her.

They get there at 7:00 am and I am going to be make someone very miserable. just like me..... ;0)

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hey everyone, I will be sending out BABB info soon, probably tomorrow.

Mary in Mi and Lynn D, if you two would like to send me your email addresses via Myspace, I can send to you, too.

I have addresses for Outatuune, Whab, MEK, JL, SacBarb, and a couple others who don't post here.

Zona are you still interested in coming? How bout Iteach? Let me know!

Less than an hour til Bachelorette, I can hardly wait (HAHA!)

    ReplyDelete
  101. iteach:
That is awful, stay inside and lock all doors, do not open the door for anyone.. Shit that is scary...

    ReplyDelete
  102. Oh, I didn't read the posts before mine. Jennier that is soooo sad about the people in your town.

Please be safe and lock your doors.

I didn't even guess today's owl since I am usually wrong. Sandie you are gorgeous!

MEK that is sad that your neighbor lets their male cat roam and don't get it fixed. What's wrong with people? I don't understand why people get a pet and don't care for them properly.

    AMAZING.

    ReplyDelete
  103. ebj- when is it? I think its Labor day weekend which counts me out (again). Family coming and a wedding on Saturday that weekend.

We got another invite in the mail (not going) for an August wedding and it was pretty cool. They are a young couple and they put a card in the invite that said basically "your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift" so they respectfully ask that if you really want to give a gift to make it a donation to the Food Panty or Wetlands Protection Fund. Now how cool is that??/?? We will be giving a larger donation, in their honor, then we would have given if we were giving the gift to them.

I thought that was the most unselfish thing I have heard from a couple of 20 somethings. They are not from wealthy families and both work and have student loans to pay off.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Goldie there shouldn't even be a problem if you have a standing order for your medication.

    That is just absurd.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Goldie, it's Aug. 30th. I so wish you could make it!

That is so awesome that the couple getting married want donations to the charities in lieu of gifts. How selfless and generous of them.

    ReplyDelete
  106. EBJ - these people also have a dog in the backyard that is NEVER let in - it barks NON-STOP!!!

OH - and I won't give any spoilers, but one over night day over next one getting ready to start!!! LOL

    Goldie - (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  107. Mr. MEK just yelled - "she's a HO" - as Deanna just completed her second overnight date!!

    LMAO!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. ebj- the script is for percoset. It must be signed by the dr. and can not be called in or faxed-original script and it has to be filled within 5 days of signing.
Law here in WI anyway- that is why this is such a pain in my,... well you get the idea. I believe I am probably into the effects of some sort of withdrawal making me a TAD CRANKY too, on top of the stabbing pain in my back and feet. Oh well, shit happens and I'll live. Someone at the Dr.s office might not though :)

Yup- Thats labor Day weekend- i have had a "save the day" since last November. Very good friends daughter. There is always next year (I HOPE!)

    ReplyDelete
  109. percocet- see, I really can spell if I try...

    ReplyDelete
  110. Goldie:
We go thru the same thing here in NJ Percocet (sp) is considered a narcotic, the script can only be written by the doctor, and he has to be picked up, the script can not be mailed.. And only can be issued every 30 days, no sooner...

Sorry for all the troubles you went thru...

    ReplyDelete
  111. Goldie:
My business partner as neuropathy (sp) in his legs/calfs... He is on a narcotic as well, just not sure which one...

    ReplyDelete
  112. As you can all see I am not reading!!

Well I just got the book, so the dust he collected today should not be to bad...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Hey! Thanks for the picture comments. I think I look so silly in that picture with my Dorothy Hamill haircut. I think my Mom would still like me to have that haircut. LOL

Tina, I swear, how do you do it? It's amazing . . .

which brings me to the Bachelorette. Mek, make sure you watch the reunion. I'm just going to say one thing. I really don't like that girl. (Yet I tune in every week--go figure!)

Zona and Tina, I sure hope you two weren't drinking and diving. Very dangerous.

Mek, you should call animal control. I can't stand when someone doesn't take responsibility for their pet. I think the pet is better off without such a jerk of an owner so it never bothers me to call.

iteach, that's horrible. Please stay safe. It reminds me when we lived in MD and the sniper was killing people--what an awful feeling. Please be careful.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Goldie, I'm sorry you have to be in pain tonight. I hope it all gets settled quickly in the am!

    ReplyDelete
  115. iteach, jennifer- I can't find anything on the news-keep us posted. Is this he same guy they have been looking for who killed the 93 year old man??

    ReplyDelete
  116. Same guy who killed the 93 old man.

It is on the channel 8 news in the quad cities.

They found the bodies at four o'clock so they haven't released the names.

However, in my small town word gets around quick.

    ReplyDelete
  117. jennifer! I'm sorry--I forgot that you live close to iteach. Stay safe!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Sandie - I would never think of missing the reunion show - those are the BEST part of these darn series..

Mr. MEK has had it - he's gone upstairs to watch baseball!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  119. A police officer was just on the radio saying that in the past week they found him three times, but they lost him on foot.

Our town only has three cops on duty, so I bet it was easy to out run them all.

Right now our town is filled with state cops and helicopters.

    ReplyDelete
  120. OMG - I just went and checked the message boards for this darn show!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. thanks- I'll survive. I wanted to wean off them anyway- just not cold turkey and with some other non-narcotic drugs helping the process.
Geez- I cried when they put me on the frigging stuff and said I didn't want to be Brett Favre (at the time I was on vicodin). When I moved up to percocet I really didn't give a damn anymore. It helped and I was over the "but I will be addicted" shit. I don't care if I am addicted to horseshit-if it makes my day doable. I mean, I am addicted to pletal and insulin too and no one has a problem with that (except me).

I am a bit chatty tonight I know, but it keeps my mind busy. I think I will have a brownie or 60 and then toddle off to not sleep and watch tv.

Damn I sound bitchy and whiney. sorry

    ReplyDelete
  122. Iteach - I will say it again..

    BE SAFE!!!

    Jennifer - BE SAFE!!!

    this makes me sick..

    ReplyDelete
  123. Goldie - you could NEVER sound bitchy and whinny!!! I feel your pain!! I'm SO sorry that this happened to you today..
    love ya!!!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Goldie, we adore you just the way you are!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Ronnie - you were SO right.. OMG -

    drama drama drama -

    she is just TOO much!!!

This reunion show will REALLY be good!!!

this show is a train wreck and I can't stop watching!!!

    ReplyDelete
  126. I luv you too MEK- thanks

Jennifer- please stay safe, and again I am so sorry for your little town.

    ReplyDelete
  127. iteach- does that mean you love me bitchy and whiney???? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  128. Yes, Goldie, because I was the same way today.

So that would make you my twin!

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hey- I always that a twin would be kewl!

Ok, taking my cranky ass off to bed. Going to watch the news and then plot my revenge on nurse ratchet.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Always THOUGHT a twin would be kewl.

    ReplyDelete
  131. OK MR. EBJ is already disgusted and the show is just starting. He says I HATE THIS F*CKIN' SHOW!

    hahahahaha!!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Goldie:
You are never whiny or bitchy!

And if you were I would not care, you can be anything you want to be!

I will always send you smiles :O)

    ReplyDelete
  133. ITEACH and JENNIFER...I am so sorry that such pain has touched you and your town. Please lock your doors and windows and be safe.

GOLDIE...I can fully understand. Once my doc wouldn't refill my bp meds until I saw him, but the pharmacy left that tidbit out. I went into the docs office and was told I couldn't get an appt. for 10 days. I went totally balistic on the receptionist! I was screaming at her and told her if I had a stroke in those 10 days it would be on her conscience! She asked me to wait a minute and returned with a script for 10 days worth of pills!! I did feel bad for the way I acted...for about 17 seconds!

CAROL...what is balance???? When you figure it out, please share the secret with me!

LYNN...I sure hope you and your cousins and aunts find a way to have your monthly get togethers. We used to do that and I miss it terribly. We called it our ladies lunch.

SANDIE...beautiful portrait. You look the same as you did then.

MEK...can I just say I can't stand DeAnne!!!! Call the animal warden. That dog needs to be removed from the home as well as the cat. Leaving a dog outside 24/7 in your heat is criminal. And have Mr. Mek go and spray their porch! ;)~

DIANNEexercisinginDENVER...congrats on your 69! Good thing you didn't light a cigarette after!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Tee heee! I got 1-SIXTY NINE without even trying!!

    Aahhhhhhhhh............

    Gotta a light? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  135. Maureen, I'm so sorry to be the one to tell you that you need glasses. Thanks just the same!

    ReplyDelete
  136. EBJ - don't worry - it gets WORSE!! LOL - mr. mek gave up !!! then he yelled downstairs - SO WHO GOT SENT HOME!!! (LOL)....

    MO - love ya!!!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Mo:
I got a light! As along with porn comes the light!

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  138. Mo:
Is your HOpiggy still eating, geez does she ever stop!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Mek:
    Mr Mek, yelling from upstairs..lol..

    ReplyDelete
  140. Mo:
I have no idea how to balance, as you can see, I have not picked up the book once tonite, oh wait I forgot, I did pick it up, however just to move it!

    ReplyDelete
  141. I am off to bed, see ya all tomorrow!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the evening...

    ReplyDelete
  142. CAROL...as long as you balance your porn with other things, I think you will be ok!

And yes, HoPiggy is still eating!! Hey, it's hard work staying this fat!! Gotta keep SHIRLEY busy feeding me!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Jennifer and Iteach - I am saying an extra prayer for you and your neighbourhood tonight. Stay safe.

Tina - Thank you for looking after my daughter so well while you were in town. She had a fantastic time. I am sure she looked after you well too because I did teach her the very best St. Ann's manners (even if I have to brag myself.) Next time please invite Mama Tink too. I don't want to lay on the guilt but I sat home all alone. Guilt, Guilt.

To those of you kind owls who sent me wishes for a Happy Canada Day would you please accept my thanks over the blog. I cannot get myspace to send messages tonight.

    Love to all. Tinka

    ReplyDelete
  144. Jennifer and Iteach I hope they find this guy soon. In the meantime stay safe. ((HUGS))

    Good night Everyone!

  147. MR. EBJ is NOT happy that she picked Jessie. You should hear him, it's so funny!

I am SHOCKED at who she sent home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. OMG - someone called me at 8:30pm, just as Deanna was coming out on stage - I had to QUICKLY run upstairs and start the recorder on my scrapbook tv.........

Okay - I've switched over to Nashville Star..... glad to see my plus size gal made it to the next round...

    ReplyDelete
  150. Good evening everyone. Sorry I have MIA. I have been busy since I stepped off the plane. I made the mistake of telling Mr Mary he didn't have to do the laundry while I was away. I didn't know a hamper could let off steam!! I didn't go to bed until all the laundry was done.I have since been to my Grandson's Baseball game, Detroit Tiger game, moped all floors, cleaned house, gotten groceries and trying to catch up on my email and MySpace. Tomorrow I am going to visit my brother at the nursing home up north.I am dying to get back to a book I started in Paris "Three Cups Of Tea".
Carol, I am sooo out of balance! My sleeping patterns have something to do with it. Hopfully next week will be better.
MEK~ Our neighbors kitten used to come to our patio and look at us with her crossed eyes and whine horribly! Our neighbors had so many cats that they kept in-breading!
I went over there and told him that the kitty was not right and that it gave me the willies! I don't what he did, but pretty soon he was down to only 2 cats. I hope he gave them away. I felt guilty for awhile worrying about what he may have done with them.

Jennifer & Goldie~ I agree with the others. Please be extra careful!

Sorry for the long post. I have missed you all.

EastBay~ I will send you my email addy via myspace.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Maureen...thank you for the wonderful singing. Very cool! I will do the same for you all in a few days!
