Eggs

by iteach

How do you like your eggs?

Poached, Fried, Scrambled

Boiled, Sunny-Side up, Over Easy

Runny, Baked, Deviled egg

Guess which one is my favorite?

None of them and it has bothered me from day one. Every year I try and they still make me gag. I have also tried them with ketchup and salsa, no luck. I call it a breakfast curse. It just feels weird not to like such a popular food.

Do you like eggs and if so which kind?

Also, is there any type of popular food that you also cannot eat?

  1. Congrats on first Lynn!!

Great blog iteach..I love the "incredible edible egg" lol

You can do SO much with them...My little brother is like you..he despises them lol

He will actually eat them as an omelette with meat and cheese in them!

I love them almost any way except RUNNY..EWWWW lol..My honey likes them runny and dips his toast in them! YUCK!

    have a great weekend y'all!

  4. Morning Glories,

I am up and moving early today. It is this weird weather we are having here. We have had mornings where it was 40 degrees and so cold. This morning I woke up because it is so muggy and I check the temp gauge on my porch and it was 60 degrees at 5:00 am. WTF

Iteach I like eggs. Some times I crave them for breakfast. Love a hard boiled egg on my salads.

Sadly I only dislike food that are supposed to be good for you! LOL

Lima Beans make me gag, Beets too and Brussel sprouts turn my stomach when I smell them. Most other thing that I am not crazy about I will eat but would not be my first choice.

I have a friend that won't eat any kind of seafood she says it makes her gag. I find that well...very wierd. Love seafood too!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Be back in a bit. Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, I need some Coffee.

  7. Congrats on first lynn!
    Egg-cellent blog iteach!
I like my eggs any way but raw.

Every once in a while I think, "I'll try a tomato again and maybe, this time, I'll like it." But, alas, I can't stomach them. I like things made with the good ol' American tomato (ketchup, sauces & salsas, etc.) but I just can't eat the real thing. Not on a burger. Not in a salad. No way, no how!

Hope everyone has an egg-citing day!

  8. Good morning Joey! I remember that egg campaign but I don't remember that egg-xact commercial. It showed it was from the 80's and the 80's were not a very good time for me. I doubt I was watching much TV then.

  11. Iteach----

I like to eat my eggs over medium with toast - BUT - i can NOT cook them like that. At home - I made them scrambled...

    LOVE deviled eggs......

AND - if I am making eggs or baking, I MUST remove the "rooster goo" off the yoke before making ANYTHING - my dad told me that is what that gross white thing hanging off the yoke was and I just HAVE to remove it... (my neighbor does the same thing - I thought I was the only one)...

    anyway -

I hope everyone has an EGGCELLENT day!!! (sorry)...

    :-)

  12. Good Morning Hooters!!!!!!!!
    congrats Lynn on 1st
    Hi Joey, lynn, hart!

I like my eggs scrambled and deviled. I will eat them other ways too- but as not much of a breakfast eater- not too much an issue.

I DETEST olives. Black, green, doesn't matter- I used to bartend in my younger day and it totally grossed me out to have to touch the olives to put in the drinks.

Only about 5 hours till babies!! The SUV is packed to the gills, all I need to do is load the food, the dog and Mr. Goldie (who still is not worth a shit today, poor guy). Then we are off to meet them at our camper.

I apologize in advance but I am telling a story, and it may be of no interest to you but it tickles me....

Talked to Brynn on the phone last night. She now knows her full name and that of mom, dad and brother. When asked who I was she said "gamma Heidi". We chatted and I asked if she was going to see Pepper today- "yup, puppy". Then I said are you going to see Papa? Her answer was "yup, Papa John- but not pizza".

Apparently when they order Pizza they use the Papa John chain, so she was a tad confused about it. She has now clarified in her own mind that when she see's HER Papa John there will be no pizza involved, so when she talks about us she calls him "Papa John no pizza". LOL

Ok, I am at work doing nothing productive, so guess I should do something in the 3 hours I am here today.

Hope all you Hooters have a wonderful day, and a great weekend.

  14. Hey Hart,

Card clinic was fun - I go every month on the last Thursday!! We make 6 cards - this month was Christmas in July!!

    Thanks for asking...

The bug spray guy is coming this a.m., so I better get ready..

  15. Hey Goldie - good morning...

Lynn D - I also am one of those people that can NOT eat seafood - heck, the smell makes me sick..

My food story (and I have many) - I do NOT like onions - BUT I love a good onion ring...... dipped in ketchup.... makes NO sense what-so-ever - does it.??!! oh well...

okay - off to get ready for the bug dude.....

    ReplyDelete
  16. MEK- what exactly does one need to do to get ready for the bug dude? Get your bugs out???? LOL

  17. Good morning,

iteach~great blog, should be a fun day. You asked what kind of egss we like...well, my favorite is a chicken egg. Actually, I like an egg any way it can be prepared, and my favorites are omelets and deviled. Love Easter eggs, with that hint of vinegar from the dye.

Congrats Lynn on #1 and 'Morning Glories' to you too. i'm with you on the lima bean thing. Yuk!

Joey~ enjoyed the videos, and I guess my favorite runny egg would be the Cadbury Egg.

    Hart~I agree, I think raw would be a turn-off.

  18. I have had some coffee! wahoo

Good morning Donna! Tomato's Huh? I hate the ones that are hot house grown as they are like eating saw dust! Yuck But fresh out of the garden Delicious!

Goldie: Have fun with the grandkids. I would say kids but we know it is all about the grandkids! LOL

Tell Papa John Not the pizza! I hope he has plenty of drugs and he has fun this weekend too!

MEK Have fun getting rid of the buglies!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good morning goldie! Oh, I hate olives too.

I thought of more things I dislike. Oysters. I just shivered when I typed that. Can't even discuss it further.

Not a big seafood fan myself. I'll eat fish and that's about it. And I'm pretty picky as to what kind of fish too.

Hate brussel sprouts and beets too, lynn d.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Goldie~Such a cute story about "Papa John but no pizza. Won't be long now and that precious little one will be there.

MEK~Glad you had fun yesterday. I also remove the 'goo'. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  21. Donna and Ronnie I remember when everyone was drinking raw eggs in their breakfast drink for protein ala Rockie Gross!!!

Does anyone remember Orange Julius? There secret used to be a raw egg. That is what made it so frothy. Those were actually really good. Can't do that now because of salmonella and other lovely germs!

    ReplyDelete
  22. oh geez you had to bring up raw oysters! That just made me gag!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lynn~
I remember those stands in the mall. You're right, the were so good. I didn't know they had a raw egg in it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Goldie - LOL - first, I need to shower and get dressed -then, I have to raise all the blinds in the house, so that he can spray the window sills, move all the dog beds away from the walls, so they don't get spray on them - pick up the dog bowls - let's see what else - I can't think right now...

Ronnie - good morning and glad to see that someone else removes the "goo" - I bet there are more people than we think that really do that!!
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lol MEK, actually we probably eat it in more foods that we don't know about prepared by someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ronnie - I know - but if I haven't seen it - then I don't think about it being there - funny, I know - but I MUST remove it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Me too MEK. I can just see some proud rooster struting around the chicken yard when I see that. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  28. ~~~Just a reminder~~

Be sure to keep Dianne and her daughter in our prayers today.

I'll bbl, need to jump in the shower.

  29. Not to be a downer, but there is manhunt going on in WI right now for a crazy killer dressed in Camo with a rifle. He shot 4 people yesterday on the WI/MI border.

I think those folks and the people in that area need our good thoughts...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Good morning egg-heads!

    Just kidding!

I'm off to work in my classroom again. I'm very excited, I love decorating it.

Goldie that was a very funny story about Pappa John's, that would be good for their baby books.

Lynn I'm glad you have your coffee, I'm off to get my dt. pepsi.

Joey, thanks for the links they were fun.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Awwwww goldie, that is so cute about Papa John. I remember some of the funny things my kids used to say, and my mom still talks about that stuff.

Good morning Ronnie! Yes, good reminder about Dianne. We must keep praying and sending out good vibes.

lynn: I LOVED Orange Julius! I had no idea they used raw eggs! Well, I guess I even like my eggs raw now too. ;)

Well, I better get off of here. My daughter is having a friend over and I'm still in my PJs.

    ReplyDelete
  32. MEK- I hope the bug man is cute. I hope he is not the type that you see his behind crack while he squirting for bugs.

Donna- I love tomatoes! However, I do know a few that don't. I could eat them at every meal.

Ronnie- thanks for reminding us about Dianne!

    ReplyDelete
  33. OMG- only to me.
I was sitting here minding my own business(surfing the net) and I was about to take a pill. I dropped it. I crawled under the desk to get it.

I hear the door open, and "hello?". Well shit- the only thing I can do is back my ass out from under the desk and stand up. It is the fire dept. I start laughing and tell the nice fireman that really, they didn't need to call you, i wasn't really stuck!

The man had no sense of humor. He just stood staring at me, then said "we are doing a building inspection, may I look in your offices?" I just sat here and chuckled and he went about his business. Apparently not his favorite part of the job.

    ReplyDelete
  34. iteach- yes, their mommy is really good with the baby books too. I am going to have to tell her to make sure she puts that in. It will be interesting to see if she calls him that all weekend!

((Hugs)) to Dianne and her daughter.

  35. I decided (as you can tell) that I would be able to do NOTHING productive today- so not even going to try. 2 hours and 15 minutes and I am out of here.

  36. Good morning Owls!

    iteach...cute blog! Eggcellent job!!!

joey...thanks for the eggstra special commercials. I had forgotten about the brain on drugs ad. Good one!

Dianne....thinking about you today. So many prayers for you and your family!

Food that I don't like. My scale can tell you there isn't much I don't like! But cilantro and goat cheese make my stomach turn.It makes me wonder why we don't like some foods..it seems fairly random.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ya know, I married a man who hates tomatoes too. And our kids hate them. It's not genetic though. Our parents LOVE them! They even have tomato gardens.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hart- my husband hates tomatoes too! My kids hate olives like their mother.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Goldie: cute papa john story!! :)

Hartldo: My honey hates tomatoes but he eats salsa lol..It's cute how he dips the chip in to get it wet, not really scooping up the tomato haha

    I LOVE tomatoes..especially a garden tomato!

Lynn: haha..so u like them runny too!

Mek: I'm trying to understand about the yolk lol

    Glad y'all like the links!

I'm all ready for the bug guy.. heck, I even staighten up my craft desk...... (so he could get to the window!! LOL)

Iteach - sadly, the kid that has been coming on a regular basis quit - so, I will have a new guy today - I'll let you know!! cute or butt crack...

Goldie - LOL at your "I'm not stuck" - too bad he didn't "get it"... and Good for you - not working hard today!!

I've got laundry going - and am seriously considering going back to bed after the bug dude is done!! LOL...

    okay - I'm off!!!

and - as stated - keeping Dianne and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

hoping those waiting for test results get them today and that they are the outcome they were hoping for....

    ReplyDelete
  41. Joey - next time you crack open an egg - look at the hard white thing hanging off - that is the rooster goo!!! you have to get it with a fork and pull really hard!!
:-) - then sometimes - if you don't get it - it will be floating around the white stuff and makes it harder to get out!!

    :-)

  42. Boy I sure didn't win any race this morning. And how I feel right now, I don't think I will win any march either.

Good Morning Lynn, (first again), Joey, Donna, Mek, Goldie, Ronnie, Iteach and my most favourite neighbour VIG.

There aren't as many as I thought when I saw the number 45. I hope you all have a great day today.

  43. I will be back this afternoon to talk about eggs. I do like them but the thought of them this morning, doesn't quite appeal. Thanks for writing the blog Iteach. You always do a good job at that. Must be the teacher in you.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ok MEK now you just made me gag about the rooster goo! Ewwwww

Goldie: I thought that was funny! The poor guy must have had his funny bone removed. I bet he is one of those guys that rolls his tighty whiteies just so and places them next to his neatly folded sox and rolls his hose in a precise circle. Hehehehe

Oh and I love olives!!! Any kind! The best are Greek Calamatas! If they come with a Greek guy those are the best! Oh boy I am naughty today. Must lay off the coffee.

Sending out all the support I can for Dianne and her family!

Loved Lima beans as a kid, can't eat them now..

  48. Iteach: Thanks for the fun blog today! I love eggs (so does Katie). In fact, we both love deviled eggs so much that we usually fight over them (making sure we each had the same amount)! LOL!!!

I do NOT like brussel sprouts, mushrooms, or any kind of fish (esp. sushi...I did try it and about gagged)!

Lynn D: congrats on being first!

Joey: Love your egg contributions! LOL!

Morning to all! (I have to get busy)! I started painting yesterday and have a ton more to do! Painted the ceilings (ICK...yes, I still have the out-dated popcorn ceilings), and got rained on by all the flakes from it! It took 5 gallons to cover it! Now the fun part today is the walls. (I like doing this part...I HATE doing ceilings)!

OK...off to for the day! Have fun everyone!

Thoughts and prayers to Dianne and her daughter too!

  50. Good morning, all of you wonderful owls!!

    Congrats on first, lynnd!!!!

Praying for the people in Camo.

Iteach~Gotta have eggs for late breakfast today, thanks to your yummy photos.

Glynis~Wish you'd stop making me homesick with your MS banners. Have fun watching the Blue Angels! I miss having them skim my rooftop Thursday-Sunday each August Seafair Weekend. So fun to hear them simultaneously from the deck and on TV on Saturday/Sunday hydroplane race days.

Goldie~You inevitably crack me up! Thanks for that.

Raw peas, yes; cooked peas, Heck, no!!!
Most seafood, yes; oysters, no way!
Yellow cheese/white cheese, yes; bleu cheese, never!
    Tomatoes, yes; tomato soup, no.
    Peanut butter, yes; peanuts, no.

  56. first??? LOL! Lynn, congrats on first!

Thanks for the blog, iteach! I like eggs any way except runny. Funny timing for your blog because my oldest son is on a fried egg sandwich kick and is constantly asking me to make him one.

Mek, I take the goo out, too! And, I don't like cooked carrots. Love lima beans, though!

Scirish, I hate liver!! My Mom used to make me eat it when I was little.

Goldie, loved the Papa John story--so cute! And, I laughed at your desk joke!! Have fun this weekend!

Hello to all on this happy Friday! I'm not feeling so great today--very dizzy for some reason. I hope to be back later.

    Have a great day!

Still sending prayers to Dianne and her family.

  57. Hi Sandie! I like egg sandwiches too. My husband thinks I'm crazy, though, because I put mustard on them.

  58. I agree with goldie...fun and painting do not belong in the same sentence. My DIL and I just remodeled my daughter's bedroom (pictures are on my MySpace) and my DIL kept saying, "Isn't this fun?" I said, "NO!" I did enjoy spending the time with my daughter and daughter-in-law, but I did not like painting and all that went along with it.

  59. A big Texas howdy folks!
I have already mentioned that I enjoy going to my neighbor's to pick up farm fresh brown eggs.
I am mind blown at some of the foods that all of you owls dislike. I love sushi, raw oysters, escargot (snails in garlic butter) eggs sunny side up, scrambled, boiled (kind of makes me gassy!) and I love them in omelettes! When I was 7 years old my teacher tried to force me to eat black eyed peas. The smell of black eyes peas would make me nearly vomit.Same thing with lima beans! I was determined not to be bullied by that psychotic Biotch who knew that black eyed peas & lima beans would make me ill so when she wasn't looking I scooped them under the table. I still remember her to this day because of the rotten things she'd do to us children.I have never been able to eat black eyed peas and think I have some sort of rare allergy like some do with peanuts and strawberries.
I'll try to come back later and read all of your interesting food loves and hates!

  61. Hey, all! I'm not done reading comments and have to go do stuff but I must say, there would NOT be rooster anything in the eggs you are eating unless MAYBE if you were eating a fertilized egg. Regular eggs are NOT fertilized. You would have to buy fertilized ones on purpose. :)

    2. Bacon and Eggs (egg whites scrambled)

    and

I adore a certain chickenowl that lays eggs, however this dear chickenowl has been known to have a red pump shoe up her ass, so I really don't know if she is able to lay any eggs.. :O) so to that I say

  73. You owls are missing out on alot of really good food. LOVE eggs! I have them way too often. My favorite is over medium. I also like them scrambled. Then I break my bacon up into pieces and mix it into my scrambled eggs. Mmmmm, yummy. LOVE tomatoes, too. I have a girlfriend who can't stand the slimey seeds. I really like lima beans, too, but maybe that's because I put about quarter pound of butter on them and lots of salt and pepper. LOL I also like brussel sprouts with plenty of butter. Butter makes everything better! My mom makes good black eyed peas. You have to add onion, garlic, S & P, to give them some flavor. I wouldn't touch escargot with a 10 ft pole, or liver or any other internal organ, for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Couldn't agree more, J/L (except I just can't do lima beans---too much like the aforementioned canned peas!). And I think of escargot (and my opinion of them) every time I accidently step on a snail on my back walk when watering at night in my bare feet...Eeeeewww.

That is the list so far as I post at 2:45 PDT. So for those of you that fly in later, a big Hi Ya'All to you too!

I have so enjoyed reading everyone's favorite and not so favorite foods! I agree with SCIRISH about liver. I think it was because my father loved liver and onions, and just because he did, he thought I should also, and FORCED me to eat it when I was little.

After that, I promised myself that I would NEVER make my children eat anything they really could not stand. When they were young, I would say to them that they had to take at least one small bite of whatever it was I had cooked, and if they REALLY did not like it, then, they wouldn't have to eat it. And lo and behold, they liked practically everything! I think it was because nothing was ever forced upon them, and spinach was one of their favorites! We like it with butter and vinegar. Fresh or frozen of course, not that horrible canned stuff!

I really don't think there is anything else I don't like. That is my problem, I LOVE FOOD! I like to try new things, and sushi is one of my favorites. And of course living in the Wine Country of Sonoma County, we have the most decadent and luscious restaurants around. Many of them are way too expensive though for me!

Oh, and I like my eggs so many ways! Egg White omelettes with all kinds of fresh veggies and feta or goat cheese, fried eggs over medium with fresh sourdough toast for dunking, and scrambled with onions and spinach! You name it, I would probably eat it. Even with the Rooster Goo!, but, I like JUST_LIN'S explanation better! Oh and Deviled Eggs are Miss Laurie's favorites! If we have any at the BABBQ Laurie will be in 7th heaven!

Yesterday was a really fun "Grandma & Granddaughter" Day for me and my 8 yr old Janee.
We first were off to the Nail Salon to get her nails done. She picked out hot pink polish for her toes and had little flowers painted on, and then another hot pink color with white polka dots for her fingernails! Very cute! Then we got Subway sandwiches to take with us to the movies, and we saw "Kit Kittredge, an American Girl" with Abigail Breslin. Such a cute movie, based on the American Doll collection. I changed my avatar to a picture of us on my deck when we got home.

GOLDIE~ have lots and lots of fun this weekend with your grandbabies! I loved the Papa John comment! We have those here, Papa John Take and Bake Pizza. Sure hope Mr Goldie gets to feeling better! Remember to bring the ice packs, and the broomstick handle!!! LOL! Seriously, that exercise really works!

I exchanged emails with Dianne/Denver last night, and thank you so much LOVEY for the update today. I am sure this waiting for the results of the biopsies is the most difficult part. Sending my thoughts, prayers, & positive energy to both Dianne, her daughter Tammy, and all of her family! ((HUGS))

GRANDMA MOSES~ thank you too for thinking of Miss Laurie and myself!

Have a fantastic rest of the day, and a wonderful weekend!

Hope the weather is gorgeous for everyone! Enjoy the beach, the lake, the pools, the picnics, the BBQ's, the baseball games, soccer games, etc. Whatever you all do this weekend, HAVE FUN!!!

Peace and Love to all, Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth

So sorry again for the Novel! Thank God you all put up with me!!!

  77. Good afternoon Owls.

Iteach, I like eggs any way egg-cept with the white runny. The yolk can be runny, but not the white...ewwwww. I liked Orange Julius but I never knew they had raw eggs in them.

MEK, I have to take that white stringy thing out too. Someone told me it was like the umbilical cord, so, ewwwww.

Goldie, cute story about Papa John. was that fireman an OF? They usually don't have a sense of humor. Have a good time with the kiddies.

There aren't too many foods I don't like, egg-cept some that I will eat cooked, but not raw, like oysters and clams. With the Olympics coming up they are showing some foods in China that I don't think I would try, like fried crickets on a stick, or any other buggies on a stick or otherwise.

Waving a wing to all the Owls.

    ***Just a rant from Barb***

I was on the phone for two hours with Jonathan who works in India for HP. I am having problems with my email. I have 3 messages sitting in my outbox and we still haven't gotten it fixed. One of the reasons it has taken so long to this point is because I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HIM!!!! (Sorry about shouting) He has to repeat everything, but it sounds the same as the first time he said it. I am so frustrated! He said he was going to call me back at 3:00pm after he talks to someone there who can help him. arrrrgggghhh.

****Thank you. I now return you to your regular programming.****

    ReplyDelete
  79. SACBARB~
The exact same thing happened to me last week, but not with HP, with a credit card Customer Rep.

I was as polite as I could be until it came to a point where we were getting NOWHERE because I could not understand him.
SO, this is what you need to do.

Speak very CLEARLY to the customer rep you have on the phone, and say this:

"I AM SORRY, BUT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND YOU, AND YOU NEED TO TRANSFER ME IMMEDIATELY TO A PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES."

It may take several more minutes on hold, but you WILL get someone in either the US or maybe Canada, but you will be able to communicate properly and clearly with them.

Of course they don't like to do this, but there are people still here in the US/Canada to speak with.

    I certainly uinderstand your "rant".

I am so AGAINST this outsourcing crap that so many companies based in the United States and Canada
    have done.

I am so tired of the fact that they can get these people in India, Nigeria or wherever, for such cheap wages, and our own hardworking people have been laid off and cannot find decent paying jobs here in their own country!

I am not being racist or bigoted in any way. I just wish these other countries would just pay their own people decent wages so that people here in this country can have their own jobs back!

OK, my rant of the day too!

Of course the No Salt tortilla chips from Trader Joe's and their delcious fresh salsa.

I do have a blender for Margaritas, but I am a bit low on the Tequila, someone will have to bring that!

I hope everyone is doing okay today.

I don't have many foods I don't like (obviously!) - but I do not like onions! I like them as onion rings though, with ketchup. What I don't like are raw onions on sandwiches or salads. Too strong tasting for me and the taste sticks in my mouth for a long time afterward.

I had good news today, My Mammogram came back normal! Yay! My MRI is not in yet but my xray is and there isn't a fracture. That is good news. But now my other knee is hurting and I just want my knees to get better!

SacBarb - OH - I know exactly what you are talking about - we had to call Dell - and the gentleman kept saying "thank you for staying on the line" - and "not a problem" - but he had to keep putting me on hold to ask someone else what I was talking about - after 3 hours - we finally got it figured out.

also SacBarb - my father teased me about that "rooster goo" and my mother was NOT happy about it - but it has stuck in my mind forever.

Iteach - the bug man was NOT cute and did not have a butt crack - he had more piercings than you could ever have imagined...... but - the house is sprayed and that is what is important!!
