Dingleberry?
by Iteach
Have you ever used a word and then come to find out you were using the word wrong?
Some where down the road, I heard the word dingleberry being used in a sentence. I just assumed it meant that someone was being goofy. So that is how I always used that word.
So-so stop being a dingleberry!
You are such a dingleberry!
No one said anything to me when I called them one, until my principal did.
One day we were in the office and he was being goofy.
So I said, "Mr. Ackman you are such a dingleberry".
He looked at me and said "Gross, no I'm not".
Then I said, "There is nothing gross about being a dingleberry, your just being goofy".
That is when he told me the real meaning of a dingleberry. I so freaked out. I had no idea it meant that piece of poop that hangs from your bottom.
My mouth hit the floor and my face turned red. I stood there and thought of all the times I called someone that name!
Yikes!
Have you ever used a word wrong?
First! LOL
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Lani!
Iteach I use dingleberry all the time. LMAO It wasn't until about a year ago that I too learned what the real meaning was!
Doesn't matter there are just so many dingleberries out there that it usually fits the occasion!
Watched the debates and had to laugh at Sacbarbs post yesterday. I also go a little crazy with her choice of talk/slang.
My friend and I kept a tally last nite. We were making hash marks for every question she did not answer or evaded. After about 10 marks we decided it was easier to count the questions she did answer, with an answer that pertained to the question.
The final count was 2. Her answer about gay marriage and her answer about how she thinks the VP is under the legislative branch. Which made me shudder and sent my husband around the bend! He kept shouting read the Constitution! Thank goodness Joe answered that question for him. I thought he was going to stroke out!
Hope you all have a good day!
Good Morning Everyone!
ReplyDeleteITEACH: What a fun blog!! I've done the same thing you have...used a word innocently until someone points out it has more than one meaning. Thank goodness TINA showed me the Urban Dictionary...now I can look up words I'm not sure of!!
I can't think of any examples right now...but will try again after I've had some sleep.
Mr. Z is trying to learn Spanish..and the guys he works with are 'helping' him. They love telling him a word means one thing..and then they laugh their butts off when he says it..and it means something else entirely. He's starting to catch on though!!
Great blog ITEACH!!
LYNND: Congrats on FIRST!!
ReplyDeleteOk..I'm really gonna try and get some sleep this time. I hope everyone has a good day.
G'night!! ;)
Good morning HOoters!!!
ReplyDeleteLYNN D - Congrats on first!!!
ITEACH - Great blog, but I'm still wiped out from a very long day yesterday. Work, Smorgasbord, kid's homework, and laundry. After I got home from helping serve at our church's Smorgasbord I was starving (I really didn't have time to eat much for lunch). One of the perks of working is that you get a free meal. Samantha and I decided to take ours "to go". Got thru the mashed potatoes and gravy, acorn squash, german potato salad, about 1/4 of the turkey they sent home, and a 1/2 slice of pumpkin pie. Well, as you might have guessed I fell asleep like a log waiting for the debate to start. CRAP!!! Thankfully they replayed it again when I woke up from my 4 hour nap!!
LANI - Welcome!!! Any friend of JUST LIN'S is ok in my book. :D I'll friend request you on myspace!!
Just put a spice cake in the oven for a co-worker's last day at our store.
I'll be back later with any words that I misuse! The only ones that I can think of right now, although I don't misuse them, are about and couch!!! According to TINA they come out sounding like abuut and cooch!!
Good morning ZONA!! I wasn't sure if you were still up......just delivering some chocolate milk for you!!! SWAK!!!

Iteach:
You are just so cute, I love your blog today. I really did not know what a dingleberry was until I read your blog, However now I know, and yes Mr. Ackman is right!
Gross.......
Thanks for todays blog, I did not have one for today, so you came thru for the nest.. :O)
Lani:
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the nest, pull up a branch, flap your wings, and Enjoy!
:O)
Lynn:
ReplyDeleteI love how passionate you are about this election and I love your sign, yes its big, however it is how you feel. Good for you!
Oops, client just walked in...
ReplyDeleteBBL
Good Morning back everyone! MEK, Zona, Hodi,Carol!!!
ReplyDeleteYes Carol I think the word you could use is passionate....some might say obsessed! LOL
ITEACH - Thanks for the education today. I didn't realize the true meaning of that word. I always referred to my boys' "package" as their dingleberries....boy was I wrong!!! lol!!
ReplyDeleteFrom Area 51:
ReplyDeleteRENEE - Yes, Glazers are our version of a Crispy Cream!!
Good afternoon everyone!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I turned the heat on in my bedroom last night! Let me rephrase that! I tuned up the thermostat...ahem, you know what I mean lol!!
It was cold last night! Possible frost tonight eek!
I just made myself a decadent cup of hot choc with whipped cream and caramel sprinkles!
Now to the treadmill.....
LynnD Good morning and congrats on #1!
ReplyDeleteiteach Funny blog today! Thank you. :)
I don't think the word dingleberry is confined to just poop, but can be anything hanging around the genital area that shouldn't be there.....like a little piece of toilet paper stuck on a hair. Eeeewww!!!!
This reminds me of when I used to have doberman that would love to pop balloons at my kids' birthday parties. Once day she was running around frantic because a deflated balloon was halfway hanging out of her butt and she was in a panic thinking something was chasing her! I had to remove it for her. LOL
Hi All!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first Lynn D!!
Carol:
din·gle·ber·ry (dnggl-br)
n. Vulgar Slang
1. A piece of dried feces caught in the hair around the anus.
2. An incompetent, foolish, or stupid person.
I think you were using it for meaning #2 which is more common.
I have only heard it to mean a stupid or foolish acting person too. I think some uses of words are regional. My boss always thought that "Hoosier" meant a big dummy, he didn't know that was what people from Indiana were called..LOL. He is from Kentucky!
What a fun blog! I love words. I have the word of the day. My favorite lately is quidnunc, that is what someone I work with is! hehe.
From Area 51: Welcome Lani! :) Glad you are here. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Owls.
ReplyDeleteIteach, LMAO at your blog today. My parents always spoke Italian when they didn't want us to know what they were saying so when I was about 10 I picked up a phrase that I used once when we had a house full of Italian relatives. You could have heard a pin drop when I said it. My mother pulled me into another room and told me NEVER to say it again. I found out years later that I said 'kiss my ass.'
As an adult, I am sure I have probably used a word inappropriately, but I can't think of one now. I'll search memory banks and maybe I will come up with something.
Lani, A BIG Owl welcome to you. I'm glad to have someone else here who shares one of my pet peeves. We have already endured 8 years of NUC-U-LUR. If McCain is elected, please someone coach Palin on how to say that word. Would love to have you as a ms friend, too.
ReplyDeleteZona, are you up yet?
LynnD, Congrats on #1.
Tinka, thinking of you.
Waving a wing at Jodi, MEK, Carol, Mary, Bebbi, Just_Lin, and everyone else who lands later.
Sacbarb. My Dad was a preacher. I never learned naughty Spanish words. I used to think "besa mi cola" meant hug or kiss my coke lol!
ReplyDeleteWhabbear, I loved your toast from area 51! You are marrying a sweet guy. Give Jim a huge hug for me!
Raquel has an especially BIG hug she is sending both of you!
Hello Hooters!! congrats on 1st lynn
ReplyDeleteJust dropping in to say hi. Spent the morning decorating the reception "pole" building and then out to lunch. Family is starting to trickle in from Ill and North Dakota and the rehearsal is an hour.
Waving madly to you all. I promise pics. Especially since I got here and decided I needed a new new dress- so I bought a fabulous little black dress yesterday. My gay personal assistant (my son) told it was great- thats why I know its fabulous!!! LOL
Have a great weekend everyone.
Goldie, have a great time!!
ReplyDeleteGOLDIE - So happy to see you here today!!! Please wish your son and dil all my best!!! Happy pole dancing....especially in your fabulous new black dress. :D
ReplyDeleteLynnD, congrats on first. Glad to see someone else shares my irritation of Sarah Palin's lack of diction! I mean, she's a VP candidate, come on!!
ReplyDeleteiteach, thanks for the fun blog! I grew up knowing what dingleberry meant because my mom used to use it when referring to our toy poodle when she would get a little poo stuck on her butt. As in, "One of you girls (my sister or me) needs to clean the dingleberry off Tina's butt." (Sorry, Tina, but that was our little poodle's name!) LOL
Welcome Lani!
Goldie, I know you'll have a wonderful time at the wedding! I'm sure you look stunning in your little black dress! I used to have one of those--until it got too little...

ReplyDeleteHellooooooo, I'm here! chug a lug chug a lug...it's happy hour in Denver.
ReplyDeleteWelcome LANI. Are you as naughty as JUSTLIN?
ReplyDeleteBad news...yes, it is true MEK...John Elway is engaged to a previous RAIDER cheerleader!!! It's bad enough he is cheating on me but with a Raider cheerleader..that is just not right!! SACBARB-causing-trouble-in-Calif: Why did you tell BEAR that I might be crashing the wedding? I thought you could keep a secret!!
This is kind of a funny story---I sent Seaside Lady a "special shirt" that she asked me for after a little coaching (I promise). She should be receiving it today and now she will have something special to wear to BEAR'S wedding. I sent it before I even knew she was attending!
LYNND: I dropped by your place for another debate party last night and once again...nobody home! I was going to do a shot for the word energy...I would still be in bed!
SHIRLEY: It is nice to see you. I have missed you. Is your weather better now?
Shirley, I did not know you were a baker.
ReplyDeleteWhat were your favorite kind of cakes to make?
Thanks for all the great comments about the blog. :)
ReplyDeleteZONA: I am getting ready to do a fly over to look at the lights Mr Z put up today so you had better duck!
ReplyDeleteFun blog today, ITEACH. I didn't really know what that word meant either but luckily, I haven't used it (but now I might).
Had a great day in the mtns the other day riding a train with the gkids and daughter. The weather was so nice. I wish the train ride was longer as it was only for 1-1/2 hour long.
Goldie- It was so good to hear from you. It sounds like the wedding is going to be a blast.
ReplyDeleteDianne my son, Philip, loves trains!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get him on a real train this year.
Mary, we have our heat on too.
ReplyDeleteZona- Are you learning spanish with your husband?
ReplyDeleteITEACH - There is a great train ride in North Freedom, Wisconsin. It's a spectacular ride this time of year. I'm sure Phillip would love it. They have a train museum there, too.
ReplyDeleteITEACH: Phillip would have loved this train. We sat in an outside car. I know if my girls loved it he would too but they didn't want an engineer hat!! We looked around the gift shop and they both picked bracelets that had nothing to do with trains!
ReplyDeletehey im still here im on the phone
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: You started this party and then I couldn't find you. I don't like to toast alone! Tell us about the cakes you have baked.
ReplyDeleteITEACH - Here is the link to that Railway Museum in North Freedom: http://www.midcontinent.org/
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of a fun site. They even have links to sounds of the trains!!! And there is another one of a music video that features the trains there.
DIANNE - I baked a spice cake with peanut butter frosting for a co-worker's last day today. Just had a piece for dessert!!!
ReplyDeleteGoldie So fun to hear from you. I bet you look fabulous in your new little black dress. Wishing you a perfect day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteShirley Love seeing you here today. I am glad you applied for assistance. That's what it's there for. It will help take some of the stress away. (((HUGS)))
Dianne If Elway marries the former Raider cheerleader, you and SacBarb will almost be related!
Bear Wishing you and Huz a beautiful wedding tomorrow and many, many years of love and joy ahead of you.
ReplyDeleteJodi Are you willing to share your peanut butter frosting recipe?
ReplyDeleteHi Shirley,
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you get the assistance. I am sure you will. We all have those low points at one time or another. I am SO GLAD you are hear today though!!!
I walked 11,436 steps today and I pulled a darn groin muscle that hurts like a beeotch. I had a yard sale today and made 100, I will have it again tomorrow then the rest goes to Good will.
I hope everyone is having a good Friday! :) It was nice being off today, that was unusual but really pleasant!

I hate it when they are "not nice" that is ridiculous, I mean it is hard to get up the gumption to go and apply, the least they could do it be nicer and have a little empathy.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't get sick from the whiskey, Shirley.
SHIRLEY - Luv u 2!!! At least you'll probably sleep well tonight!!
ReplyDeleteJUST LIN - Yes!! That is a recipe that I'm willing to share. I just use a can of butter cream frosting, add about 2 T of peanut butter and a splash of milk. If you don't add the milk it's too "stiff" and if you use too much milk it's too "wet"!!! lol!!

Shirley There was a time when I had to ask for help, too. I know it isn't easy. I hope you get the assistance, though. It will help you get through a temporary rough time. Better times will come.
ReplyDeleteLani Yoo hoo! Where are you?
ReplyDeleteHello everyone. I will try for 0 typing errors today. J/L pointed out to me that I appearently wok at a Chinese cooking hospital. Correction - I WORK at the hospital, not WOK! If I don't have my eyes checked soon there will be many more errors. I can think of 2 phrase blunders. My mother used them. I am positive not understanding them either. "Numb nut", I learned does not mean that one is not thinking. I learned this when I called my supervisor numb nut. Fortunately we were friends. "Mighty wide of you" as in mighty big of you. I found out the phrase is "mighty white of you". The Dean of Black Studies pointed this out to me as I had just said this of him. There to luckily we were friends. Right after that he crumpled a piece of white paper and said he was throwing away white trash.
ReplyDeleteLani LOL @ white trash!
ReplyDeleteI just got back from shopping groceries at Wally World.
ReplyDeleteI stopped at JcPenny's in the town next to me looking for deals.
I found a pair of tennis shoes for Matthew for $1.48.
Let me repeat that again-
ReplyDeleteI found a pair of tennis shoes for Matthew for $1.48!!!!!
Very happy camper!
iteach Good deal! :)
ReplyDeleteLani, so nice to see you!!
ReplyDeleteMEK- Where are you?
ReplyDeleteTell me your thoughts about GW.
Iteach~~YAY for bargains! And thanks for the blog, too. I'm sure there are any number of times I've used the wrong word, but I've tried several times today to come up with an entertaining example...I got nuthin'.
ReplyDeleteCarol~~TYVM!
Goldie~~Can't wait to see the pics.
Hmm, wonder if Bear's getting cold paws? Nah, I bet not.
Actually had to close the windows tonight, 'cause the rain was coming in!! I think the heat might come on this weekend for the first time. Purrrrrr.
Thanks Bonnie & JustLin-
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was 18 and I thought it was so beneath me to look on a clearance rack.
I did not understand why people did it.
Then when I started to live on my own, I totally got it!
iteach Our best found bargains would be a good subject for a blog. Hint, hint.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that to Linda, Good minds think alike! :)
ReplyDeleteJ/L~~You just reminded me of another 'idea-share' topic that might be fun: Favorite Gadgets/Tools (besides BOB!) Example: at the moment, I'm hooked on my Magic Bullet for making smoothies/shakes, etc.
ReplyDeleteWatching Ted Nugent on Glenn Beck...a funny, welcome break from all the gloom 'n doom rehash!
BonO You have a Magic Bullet? You really like it? I was thinking I should get one. I hope Ted isn't going to shoot anything.
ReplyDeleteiteach...great blog! I never knew before what a dingleberry was. In fact, I think the icecream place near my hometown is called Dingleberrry's! Wondering now if the chocolate icecream really was chocolate........ewwwwww! Won't be eating there ever again...no way, no how!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBono...hi, friend! Been thinking about you all week and am sending good thoughts out to you and your whole family!
Thanks, VIG! And welcome home to you!
ReplyDeleteYes, 'Lin, I LUV my Bullet. Don't know why I waited so long to get one. Well, yes, I do...I have mixers, blenders, Cuisinarts, Oster hand-helds cluttering cabinets. The Bullet is so quick and easy and takes up NO space. and Yes, as a matter of fact Ted IS talkin' about shooting stuff. He cracks me up, but he does come through with a nugget of wisdom now and then!
BonO I only have one hand held mixer. My blender broke long ago and I never replaced it. Can't say I really miss it but I've been fascinated with the Magic Bullet. Maybe I'll put it on my Xmas list. Then I can get smoothie recipes from you. :)
ReplyDeleteEvening everyone... it is 37* here!
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to hunker down in my quilt covered bed.
Shirley, it has been a while since I have "drunk blogged". I do "stuff my face and blog" lol!Hope you get a good nights sleep.
I wonder if Wabbear & Huz are getting any sleep tonight. I bet they have a few butterflies in their tummies!
Jodi, thanks for the PB frosting recipe. I can't wait to try it. We are all PB lovers here.
Dang, I keep forgetting to welcome Lani! "HI LANI". I'm from the mid-freezing-Michigan area!
ReplyDeleteIteach - glad to hear that you have found some great bargains!! i got my 10 cent prints at Walgreen's today!!
ReplyDelete:-)
Then, my flu shot, then got my haircut!! busy day!!! ran errands for my mom also!!
I think everyone is rubbing it in that you have to get out the coats, and turn on the heat, etc. etc......!! LOL..
I tell ya, you need to come on down!!!! The desert is still smothering hot!! LOL..
sshhhhhhhh - quietly stepping over Shirley as to not wake her up!!
VIG - Dinglebery ice cream - i don't think I would eat there again either!!!
Bono - (((HUGS)))
Whabby - I am sure that you can't believe that YOUR day is finally here!! Best wishes..
Goldie - can't wait to see the pole dancing pics......
Ghost Whisper fans - no spoiler, but i wasn't really thrilled or excited about the SEASON PREMIERE -

Sweet dreams, everyone!!!
Dianne, oops, was that a secret???
ReplyDeleteWhabby, My wish is for you and Jim to have a wonderful day tomorrow and many happy years together. I hope you aren't having an outdoor ceremony 'cause I hear it's going to rain.
J/L, LOL@ Dianne and I - relatives.
Bebbi, I admire you for all that walking you do. Congrats on the weight loss.
Hey K-Girl, Good to see you here and at 100 too.
Jodi, I would love some cake.
MEK, I missed GW and my TiVo didn't record it...may be operator error.
Zona, Do be do be doooo
*whispering* Shirley, are you awake?
Good night Owls. I'm going to call it a night. Sleep well everyone.
