I will be your "Safety"

Don't Leave Home by Dido

Chosen by Bebbi

Here is a video of Dido that I love called "Don't Leave Home". This reminds me of my kids and how I love them so much and would always want to be their "safety". Also, that a part of me never wants them to leave home. Part of my struggles with my impending empty nest.

Also, this is a nice one because it is about the Owl's nest a little bit and how we are each other's safety sometimes. It is so nice to have a place to go and be able to express my feelings to everyone, its so awesome. :)

  2. BIRDEEEEE....congrats on first! bwahahahahaha

    Hi RONNIE!

  3. I was FOADED ALL day yesterday. Something about a certificate or some crap like that. I degfragged last night, so it must have been my 'puter being goofy.

  4. I like the video Bebbi, and that's is probably one of us flying over Dido keeping her safe.

I will say this much, that if she was my daughter, she wouldn't be walking in the woods alone late at night, or else she would be grounded.

  5. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday, and birdee gets her computer repaired today.

Btw, Carol I love the picture of your family outside of the church, that you took last night.

  7. ***Deep in the bowls of Owl Manor, in the water balloon room***

*She will never know what hit her. I bet she thought her birthday celebrations were all over. Well have I got a surprise for her. HA! HA! HA!*

***Uncovers the largest water balloon used to date. It has Happy Birthday Maureen written on it. Puts it in a special case and makes my way back up to the main floor. Gets ladder and climbs to the highest branch over Maureen and her computer. Takes water balloon out of it's case. Aims (with new glasses everything is much clearer)and...***

Oh, good morning Maureen! Happy Birthday once again. I have a little something for you. SURPRISE!! BOMBS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Good Morning Hooters!

    Congrats on 1st birdee-and ronnie!!

bebbi- great choice of video for our nest. You are right- this place is our safety.

Going to be a lovely fall day here in WESconsin- up to 63 and sunny. Going to the apple orchard for pumpkins and then working in the yard a bit. Notice I say a bit- I hate yardwork, but Mr. Goldie seems to enjoy it. WTF? Who enjoys that?

  9. Good morning and congrats on 1st Birdee via Ronnie.

Good morning Ronnie, Maureen and Bebbi.

I hadn't heard this song before, but it was nice. I liked the video.

  10. Shirley, I just got wet- aim better!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Goldie this may be a stupid question, but when a person goes to an apple orchard don't they usually come out with apples, not pumpkins? Maybe your apple orchards are different in the states. Here in Nova Scotia we don't grow pumpkins on trees. I'm just sayin :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ummmmm, I just got hit with some icicles....it is so cold the water froze when the balloon popped!

SHIRLEY......you are cracking me up. You are so creative (and demonic with your balloons!!)

Morning GOLDIE! Have fun at the apple orchard

    ReplyDelete
  13. ROFLMAO @ pumpkins don't grow on trees in Nova Scotia!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Goldie, sorry. I found out that when using large objects it's harder to aim. Hopefully Maureen got most of it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. SHIRLEY...are you cooking today? I'm really hungry (and wet)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Shirley- LOL@pumkins on trees.

This apple orchard has apples and they have a big pumkin patch. Have already gone there once and got apples and Mr. Goldie always buys applewood for the fireplace.

Today is a walk around the pumpkin patch and to get more wood.

It's ok that I got wet. I needed a shower anyway. I think you just saved me money on the water/sewer bill this way.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Are you sure you want ME to cook for YOU?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi Mo! I second the motion for Shirley to cook breakfast!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks for the clarification Goldie. Have a great time.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm back~

    Good morning Shirley and Goldie.
    Morning Mo, again.

Goldie, your trip to the apple orchard for pumpkins sounds like fun. Would that place be owned by Matt Roloff?

What's this water all over the floor?

Shirley, you are such a HOOT!!!

  22. Oops I for got the tea and coffee. Sorry>

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thank you Shirley for breakfast. I haven't had pumpkin muffins in a long time, so I'll have those with bacon. (thanks Mo).

I noticed the bacon is 'thick sliced' this morning. Good job with your clever, Shirley.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks again Shirley, and I'll have some coffee, too.

    I'll be back later.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Morning Glories!

Birdee got first! Wahoo Even without a computer! LOL Way to go ronnie!

Yes I think we are each others safety. Bebbi I hate to tell you this but I am so looking forward to the empty nest syndrome at my house. I will of course worry but I would really like my house to stay clean for more than an hour! LOL

Goldie sounds like you are going to have and outdoors type day. Mr. Lynn D has been working in our back four acres clearing dead pine tree branches and blackberry bushes. He wants me to come out and help. No thank you! I used to enjoy gardening but clearing blackberry bushes is way to much work!!!

    Shirley you nailed MO! LMAO

I am getting excited and charging my camera and phone now for my outing today.

    Be back before I leave!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good morning Lynn

Your day sounds like fun. I don't blame you about the blackberry bushes, they have stickers.

Really going now, and hope everyone has a good Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey Owls! Good Morning!

BEBBI: First time I've heard a song by Dido...kinda liked it.

BIRDEE: Congrats on FIRST..hope the computer problems get fixed soon!

RONNIE: Congrats on FIRST and a half!! ;)

Morning MO!! I'll send you some of our heat...97 today in the desert!

    SHIRLEY: Breakfast!!! I'll have oatmeal..but NO cinnamon..THANKS!! Oh..and my Diet Pepsi..yay!! :)

GOLDIE: Have fun in the pumpkin apple patch orchard... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. LYNND: Have a great time today!

    ReplyDelete
  29. ronnie- that would be a bit of a trek since he is in Oregon (I think) and I am in Wisconsin!

Shirley- thanks for Breakfast- but Mr. Goldie just offered to take me out to breakfast. Since I don't eat until I have been up for at least 3 hours I just passed my limit and food sounds ok.:) I am grabbing a muffin and holidng to it until tomorrow morning.

I am an empty nester- love it. Cried when the 1st one left for college- held the door open for the second- lol. Neither one ever came back to live after school.

It makes the visits so much more to look forward too. Love my kids, like them living somewhere else!

See you all later today- I am off to have some much needed pancakes an OJ

    ReplyDelete
  30. Good morning All!

    Congrats on first birdee!!

Ronniegirl, thanks for the kind words about the music. I just love it and I appreciate the opportunity to share.

Zona, I am so glad you liked it. Another one I like is "White Flag", you should go and find that one on youtube. It is nice too.

LynnD: I thought the same thing and I do kind of like it, but it gets pretty quiet around here sometimes and that feels very weird. The hard thing now is, just as I get used to it, someone COMES BACK! I guess that is what college is about a little fly away from the nest, then a swoop back in for a while, then a bigger flight, etc.

Goldie: thanks for the comments. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good Morning Ronnie - Congrats on being first.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good Morning Maureen, Shirley, Goldie, Lynn, Zonababy, and Bebbi.

Birdee - I am sorry. I just read that you are really first. You sent a proxy. That's what I am going to do. Whoever is up first tomorrow, please post for me. I haven't even been in the top ten for weeks. (Does that sound like I am begging?)

Zona - You made me feel better when you said you had never heard of a song by Dido. I haven't heard it and I was feeling very old. I enjoyed the video Bebbi. Part of it made me scared. Was that its intent? I liked the song.
The empty nest syndrome is not fun. Then your house gets filled up with pets and grand children and all is great again. It takes a little adjustment however.

Shirley - Thanks for breakfast again. I will have pumpkin muffins and tea to start.
I don't like water balloons so when my birthday rolls around again please celebrate mine with streamers and real balloons. We always had that water balloon game at our sports days and I couldn't even watch kids getting soaked. I guess that makes me a party pooper.

I am going to decorate my house for Halloween today although I am not quite in a festive mood. My daughter goes "all out" for Halloween decorating. It is quite a sight to see. They always have a large party after the trick or treaters are finished. I used to go when I had International students but I don't like leaving home if I have to come back to an empty house so now I have Brian and Dave stay with me until it's safe to turn off the lights and go to bed.

I am going to have breakfast, check out myspace and I will be back.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi Tink!! I am not sure, but the video makes me scared too. My interpretation is that it is scary leaving home and it is scary for the person who is left behind. And how many times have we all gone up the edge and taken a look down? It's a scary place, the world..sometimes. There is a dark side to the video but I try to see the light in it. I really hadn't seen the video until I went out to look for it to submit it to Carol. I just love Dido and I love her songs. So that is my closet psychologist guess on what the actual video means to me..hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for the Slimfast Shirley! It was great as usual!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bebbi - I think your analysis of the video was very good. Thanks for finding it. I haven't had a chance to congratulate you on your weight loss. You are doing great.
I will watch your videos on MS.

Shirley - I forgot to thank you for the Slim Fast too. Oh, I didn't mean to sound like you should stop playing water games. I was just giving you a reminder that in 7 more months I don't to be hit with the water bombs.

    Back to hanging orange lights.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Tinka don't worry, the only thing I'll put in your balloons is air, or helium :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow, Bebbi this is a great song. I have never heard of this talented singer but her voice is amazing. It is very soothing. Her voice kind of reminds me of Lily Allen.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Shirley can I have some of Diane's pumpkin pancakes. Diane is very kind. I'm sure she won't mind.
All of this talk of pumpkins has given me an idea of what I want to do today. I am going to take my Pekingese over to our pumpkin patch and take photos. This is what you do when you don't have children. You take many photos of yuor pets. I'm going to go get her a Halloween costume also. Her best friend ( my Mom's poodle) already has her halloween costume which was given to her at the poodle palor.
    Have a terrific Sunday everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Good morning, Owls! I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday so far. It is cool and overcast here.

    Birdee Congrats on #1! LOL

Ronnie That was very nice of you to carry Birdee into the nest today. You must be exhausted! LOL

Bebbi Thank you for the music video today. I have heard of Dido but I don't think I heard the song before, or if I did, I hadn't really listened to the words. I really liked it. Once nice thing about an empty nest is that it gives you more freedom. You and Mr. Bebbi may find you really like it (wink, wink).

Shirley I'll have hashbrowns. Thank you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ok kids getting my coat and other belongings together to head out the door!

    Off to see Joe Biden!

    Ronnie:
Congrats on getting First for Birdee!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Birdee:
So sorry your computer is burned, Now what exactly does burned mean?
Did you spell hot coffee on it?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mo:
Geez I am so confused today..What the heck does degfragged mean...

Did one of those adorable "Fraggle Rock" puppets come in to your computer and fix it?????

    ReplyDelete
  44. Bebbi:
I don't often listen to Dido, However I enjoyed the song, Thanks for taking the time to do Todays Sunday Music Video...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ronnie:
Thanks, I took that pic with my cell phone, so it came dark, after I uploaded it, I laughed, as to me they really do like Hoodlums. I showed it the Anthony (the youngest) and he agreed.. So Funny...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Shirley:
Thanks for Breakfast, and the mounds of bacon was such a special treat...

  49. Today is Vincent's Birthday, I am going to my Sisters for Dinner..

I can't believe he is 26.. I bought him the Flip, hope he likes it..

Fingers crossed that a politic conversation does not arise, however my family is very open about politics
so I have a feeling, it will happen... Maybe I should show them my blog from the other day.. On second thought that won't help..
    However earplugs might :O)

  50. Happy Sunday Owls.

I have never heard this song but I like it. The video is a little dark, but the message is a good one.

My son and DIL came up from San Diego yesterday to go to the Raiders game and I am 'sitting' for my grand-dog.

My Hubby and I were anxious to become empty nesters and our youngest was still home when my Hubby died. At that point, I did not encourage my last son to leave.

He had just started Community College and he was going to take his general ed classes and transfer to San Diego State. So he ended up taking 4 years to get his two year degree because of me.

It was still hard for me when he finally went to San Diego. I just didn't want to be alone. However, now I am used to it and I'm not sure I could live with anyone on a permanent basis again. I do like visitors, though.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Carol - Happy Birthday to Vincent.

Shirley - Thanks. I love helium balloons. I am taking my Slim Fast from you now. You are kind to remember me each day. My daughter (the nurse) was worried about my having Slim Fast for lunch every day for ten years but she checked the ingredients and it doesn't have anything bad in it. It's the protein powder that keeps me from feeling hungry until about three o'clock. I have a mid afternoon lunch at that time and a light supper at six. I learned at Weight Watchers to refrain from any eating or drinking (except water) after six. It works.

  52. 70

    Happy Sunday!

    Congrats on first Birdee :)

I like Dido, have only heard a couple of her songs.

Poe and I had hashbrowns, fruit and toast, I thank you Shirley!

We just had a visitor. I heard a meow from the sliding door, and there was a huge kitty. He had a purple heart name tag, he is HARVEY or HARLEY (it was too faded to be able to tell for sure). He has never come before, and after Paula heard him and came to see who was invading her space, he may never return.

She growled and howled so loud, her fur stood up on her back, she was very, very upset.

He took off and we may never see him again.

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday! The pumpkin patch / apple orchard sounds like a nice way to spend the day.

    ReplyDelete
  53. My house is beginning to look festive. I bought Tango and Tia their costumes. I don't think they are crazy about them though. I will be lucky is I can convince them to have their pictures taken.

    Have a great afternoon everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey, I don't know how that Vicki came up, but that was me. My DIL must have used the comput last night. Sorry 'bout that.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Shirley: I want helium too!! Because I can suck it out and make that really high pitched voice that makes me laugh so much! One time, on one of my kids birthdays, we all did that it was so funny and fun. It probably isn't very good for you, but I think its funny!!

Tink: Thanks for the congrats on my weight loss. That slim fast stuff works! That plus Alli, walking, writing down everything I eat, and keeping track on fitday.com of my weight.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks Dreama, I am glad you liked it. I just love Dido. Her voice is incredibly soothing.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sacbarb: That is sad, that your hubby died when he did. I am sure it did change things for a while. I am sorry for your loss even though it may have been some time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tink: I can't wait to see Tango & Tia in their costumes. I will have to get some for Bandit and Chloe. I used to take them to the doggie contests. One year Bandit won third place as a lady bug. I made the costume, it was so cute. I just sold it a yard sale not too long ago too.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hello to Birdee who got #1 by proxy and to Ronnie for posting for her.

WTH, I just stepped in a puddle and I see Mo is dripping icicles. Shirley must be up to her old tricks.

Goldie, I hope you pick out a nice big pumpkin.

LynnD, Have fun at the rally. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Zona, the dinner was a big success. Thanks for the help.

Bebbi, I am going to have to listen to more of Dido. She has a soothing voice. BTW, congrats on your weight loss.

Tinka, Take pics of your Halloween decorations and your fur babies in costume so we can see them.

Carol, Happy Birthday to Vincent. Your hoodlums are hunks.

J/L, It's gloomy here today too. I may have to put the heat on today.

MEK, where are you??? I hope you are doing something fun.

Waving a wing at all who land later. Have a good day.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Shirley: Glad you liked the song and video!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. EBJ, Yes that was me. I think we were typing at the same time. LMAO @ Paula. She is very territorial, I guess.

Bebbi, Thanks. Yes it was 15 years ago. The reunion I went to last weekend was with my Hubby's family. We are still very close and they are very supportive. I am lucky to have them.

    ReplyDelete
  62. SacBarb Waving a wing at you. I was wondering where Vicki came from. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  63. BEBBI - I really like that song. The first time I heard Dido was when she did a duet/crossover thing with Eminem in his Stan video. She has a quiet soothing sound to her voice that is almost haunting.

BIRDEE - Congrats on first by proxy!!! RONNIE you're a peach to do that for her!!!

GOLDIE - What apple orchard/pumpkin patch did you go to? Did you go to the Eplegaarden in Fitchburg? That place is fabulous!!!

DIANNE - When do we play? I think you had mentioned a Monday night game.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. DIANNE - I just looked it up and yes, I guess we do play Monday night. Sam has an orchestra concert on Monday night, but I will be sure to have my shirt on!!! SWAK!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thanks Jodi, I am glad you liked my pick for this Sunday. :)

Ohhh Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, Sam's had FUDGE samples. Egads. That was hard to walk past and not stop for a taste!!

Does anyone else like to go to Sam's for samples? Does Costco do that too? We have one around here but it is a little farther away, so I go to Sams.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Bebbi Love the owl pumpkin! Very, very cute!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Just trying on a new seasonal avatar!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. BEBBI - Not a huge chocolate fan, so it would be easy for me to pass that one by. Congrats on doing it though!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Time to do the dishes and another load of laundry. I'll try to bbl!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thanks JUST LIN!!! I liked that it combined both a owl and a witch. Feeling a little witchy today!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jodi Nice witchy march with the stealth of an owl. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Thanks J/L!

Jodi: I understand, my daughter isn't either, but boy...sometimes around a certain time of the month...I HAVE to have it! That is why I bought the chocolate slimfast too!! hehe ;)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Jodi, That was the first time I heard her too and then a friend of mine introduced me to more of her stuff. She is truly exceptional.

    ReplyDelete
  80. SacBarb and Bebbie - Thanks for the comment. Yes I will be taking pictures. I am not finished yet. It seems to be taking me longer each year. I wonder why that can be? hmmmm. Maybe being 39 so many years has something to do with it.

Bebbi - Yes Slim Fast works for me. So does Weight Watchers, keeping a record of what I eat, eating mainly fruits and vegetables and not eating after six. This is my eleventh year of being on Maintenace at WW. I don't ever want to relax about it however. Weight is so sneaky.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nice marching Jodi. I just got back from my walk with my babies. I have done my usual routine of washing their feet and giving them a treat. Maybe I am up for a little march and then I think I will take a little "Ghost Whisperer" break. Their Halloween show from season two is really good. I am getting into a Halloween mood.

  84. Now I am really beat. Time for a scary show.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Just got back from my walk too, no babies with me this time, they had their walk this morning and mama wanted to walk a little more vigorously than just sniffing every bush and sauntering along!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Bebbi You don't want to sniff every bush and maybe pee on one or two? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  87. No I prefer having a lot of pee when I start and peeing a tiny dribble on every tree, bush, fence hydrant, mailbox, and low hanging brand that I see! LOL..more fun that way, spread the scent..ya know?

    ReplyDelete
  88. branch..not brand..although, I do like my brand...hehe

    ReplyDelete
  89. As Fat Bastard from Goldmember said, "Oh, Everbody likes their own brand, Don't they?".

  90. Good Evening Owls!

I am home and exhausted! LOL

What a fun and interesting experience. Evidently we had a record breaking crowd for Senator Biden the biggest crowd for a VP nominee ever in WA state!

It was a site to behold. I took pictures and I will upload them later. I hope some of them turned out. I take crappy pictures.

I saw my first ever secret service men and boy do these guys model before they get hired??? I swear to god there was not a bad looking one in the bunch! LMAO

There was even a black man in a suit and I had to do a double take because he looked just like Senator Obama! All the women in our section were taking pictures of him! LOL

I hope everyone has a fantastic evening!

    ReplyDelete
  91. oh I forgot to say my right palm is bruised and my left palm is raw like rope burn from clapping and I have a sore throat from yelling! LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  92. Lynn- I got to meet the secret service when I was 13.

President Ronald Regan was born and raised in the towns right next to me.

I believe it was 1983 when they had a big prade for him in his hometown of Dixon. He was there in a plastic bubble.

The secret service looked up my clairnet to make sure there wasn't in gun in it.

At the ago of 13, I thought they were really good looking.

    ReplyDelete
  93. too

I forgot to put too at the end of my sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Iteach it made me giggle when I read that the secret service looked up your clairinet! haha

    ReplyDelete
  95. Iteach LOL They made me hold my cell phone and camera out so they could see that they worked! That was just at the metal detectors tho!

I would have been honored if the Secret Service wanted to look up my clarinet! ROFLMAO!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Good Night you sweet little owls. I am off to bed and I hope you young birds behave yourselves while I am asleep.
    God bless. Love, Tinka

    ReplyDelete
  97. Bebbi, I have never heard of today's music selection.

My does she have a strong voice, I enjoyed it. Thank you!
