Flags of our Fathers, sung by Keni Thomas
~~Veterans Day, Remembrance Day~~
Today I express my gratitude to the men and woman who have served our country so honorable. They fight for our Freedoms, so we can live among the land of the free, and soar with the highest of virtues. Their gift to us is unconditional, it is what they believe in. So simple to them, yet so complicated to us. For they give themselves willing, they fight for our every breath.
WW11 veteran, my dad, I am glad he served our country proud, and very grateful he is with me today. To my dad, my love, my thanks.
From every country a soldier is born, and from every country a soldier is our hero.
For our Canadian Friends the poppies are near, as they are swaying in the breeze in Flanders Fields
To all our soldiers, past, present and future. We honor you today and always.
~~Thank You~~
1st!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteGood morning Mek.
This is a repost from area 51 I wrote earlier this morning. I'm off to the service now.
Repost from area 51
If you are observing Remembrance Day like I am here in Canada or Vetran's Day in the US I hope everyone takes a moment to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Also please remember those who are still making sacrifices on our behalf around the world.
After some last minute phone calls I was able to purchase a cross that my sister and I will lay, in honor of our Dad, later this morning during the Remembrance Day service here in town.
Hug a Vet today and tell them "Thank You".
okay - I MUST do this..

Good morning, Shirley!!

ReplyDeleteMorning Shirley...
ReplyDeleteFrom area 51...
ReplyDeleteVig great blog...
honoring our Whabby... Turtle and Joey...
A few years back they had the same prop. on the Virginia ballot...
they had it confusing... if you voted yes it meant no and if you voted no it meant yes!!! I think they do it on purpose to confuse people without a vested interest in it.. It didn't pass here either...
From sunday...
Tinka...
I LOVE the picture of you and your nash...
great memories...
and about songs....
Mr IBB and I call Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Pride and Joy' OUR SONG!!!!!!!!
Good Morning everyone,
ReplyDeleteNice blog Carol, thank you.
VIG great blog yesterday, very well said. :)
Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteIBB is up early and got first!!!
Veterans Day is always a time to stop and think about all of the men and women who have sacraficed for us here at home.
I am thankful this year that my SIL is home with his family and we can thank him in person. I know it is an especially hard day for him.
I have family members who have served in every war. One is still listed as MIA from Vietnam. There are not enough words of gratitude that I can express for them.
So pray for our brave soldiers all over the world! That includes our brave Canadian soldiers as well.
Mary MI I saw your post from yesterday and I did not think you were on a soap box. I thought it was a heartfelt plea and reminder not to lump everyone together and rightfully so! Thank you for your post.
ReplyDeleteIbb:
ReplyDeleteCongrats on First!
Morning...
Ibb, Mek, Iteach, Shirley, Lynnd
I love the video today, I looked thru so many the other night, and I am glad I was patient, as this one is just perfect, and the song, amazing... I have never heard of this singer before, have any of you?
ReplyDeleteMary:
ReplyDeleteSaw your post from area 51, so did not think you were on a soap box either, you were very right...
Thanks for sharing your feelings with us...
Shirley:
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the service, I am glad you were able to do something for your father in his honor...
Please remind me, what war did your father serve in?
Ibb, Mek:
ReplyDeleteI know your dad had a military career, I thank him...
Whabby:
ReplyDeleteWho me?? Republican and Catholic, nah you must have me mixed up with someone else...
:O)
Ibb:
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better...
Bebbi:
ReplyDeleteI have a question? How do you know how many steps you take daily? I just can't imagine you counting, so do you have a step counting thingy?
And if so, where did you buy it...
Thanks
I am off to start my day...
ReplyDeleteSee ya all later...
:O)
Happy Veteran's/Remembrance Day Owls. I am packed and ready to go and am just waiting for Sharon to pick me up and take me to the airport.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Carol and my thanks go out to all the Vets past and present. I value my freedom and without those who made the sacrifice to protect our Country, it would never have been.
Carol, Please give your Dad my Thanks for his service.
MEK & IBB, My Thanks go up for your Dad's service as well.
MEK, Sorry you didn't get any sleep last night. I hope you will be able to grab a nap later.
Shirley, I am so glad you were able to find a cross to lay in honor of your Dad today.
If I don't get back today or until I get back, I wish everyone well.
Shirley,
ReplyDeleteI just realized I typed "enjoy the service" Not sure if enjoy was the right word to use, sorry. I can't think of another word tho...
I will think a bit....
Sacbarb:
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip, we will miss ya!
:O)
Good Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeleteHappy Veterns and Rememberance Day.
congrats on 1st ibb- hope you feel better, and get your strength back.
Great blog today Carol. I also think it is worth mentioning that many men and women served our country during the wars without being in the military. They deserve our thanks and rememberance too.
Give all the Vets and current active armed forces members a hug today.
On a side note. Remember my little surgery a few weeks ago? I was in the hospital a total of 12 hours. Got the bill yesterday- which does NOT include the Interventin Radiologist or the Vascular Surgeon. Just the hospital. I almost had to be revived. It was nealy $26,000.00!! I told Mr. Goldie we should have taken that box of tissues we opened when I had to blow my nose!
I can only say that I am eternally gratefull to have insurance no matter how much I bitch about the deductible, copay and premiums. Holy Shit.
Carol- Bebbi had a pedometer that measures your steps. I just got one too, to help me so that I move more now that my legs work better. You can get it anywher they sell sporting goods- Walmart, Target, Sears, etc.
Have a good day Hooters. Hi MEK, shirley, iteach, lynn and Carol!
Hi Sacbarb- we were typing at the same time! Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteShirley- I am happy you were able to get the cross.
Hi Goldie...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, I wondered how she did that...
Have fun Sacbarb! Hope the granddog doesn't wear you out! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have been remiss as Sacbarb pointed out. Carol and MEK, IBB and Shirley of course I send my heartfelt thanks to your Dad's for serving our and your country! Also Mr. Mary! Anyone else who has or had relatives serving shouting out a huge THANK YOU!
Goldie I was listening to the radio yesterday when I went to pick up Mr. Lynn D and they were talking about a Veterans Parade held here in Auburn WA last weekend.
They were talking about one of the most moving moments during the parade was the group of Gold Star Mom's. The description just made me weep. Yes I agree we need to thank anyone who works for the greater good and does public service, but all of the Mom's, Dad's, Wives and children of the current serving and past. They are the ones who hold everything together IMHO. So a huge THANK YOU to them also!
I know things that I have learned in my research from this election and from my daughter and SIL that have made me frustrated and angry on behalf of our serving men and women. I am saying a prayer today that we change things soon and take care of these people and honor them the way we should. They gave and give so much for us it is the least we can do.
Happy Remembrance Day! Happy Veterans Day! I don't believe in war being the way to solve problems, but I do support the soldiers who fight for us all. And I remember how important this day was to my Mom. Every year we went to the Remembance Day ceremonies to honor her brother who died in WWII at 19 years old. I never really understood how hard that must have been for her until I lost a sibling myself. But I can also never understand what it must have been like to say goodbye to him as he went off to war and then the worry while he was gone. And then to be there, a young teenager, when her parents got that telegram to say he was Missing In Action. My Mom passed away almost 25 years ago and I haven't gone to the ceremonies since, but I think I will go today. I kind of get it now. Uncle Lawrence, you will never be forgotten!
ReplyDeleteMorning Owls!!
ReplyDeleteI seem to hab a cold in my node...
Hope everyone has a peaceful Veterans/Remembrance Day.
Where does one buy a GOOD pedometer? I have had tow totally wacky ones...
Vig I read your post and I hope you do go to the service today and continue to go in the coming years. Before my Dad passed away I might have gone to 6 services in my life. Since he passed away in Jan. 2000 I haven't missed a service and I vowed there would always be a wreath laid in his name. I wish we didn't have to have these kinds of services.
ReplyDeleteCarol my Dad served in WWII.
To everyone reading this I want to acknowledge any members of your families who have or are still serving their country. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. (((HUGS)))
oopsie....TWO...not tow...
ReplyDeleteWow, VIG! I hope you go today!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad served in WW2 as a gunnery officer, and he is one proud veteran.
This weekend, during my customary phone call to him and my Mom, he said something that almost made me cry. The two of them are very upset about Prop 8, and my Dad said that if he were down here in CA, he'd love to march with fellow vets in my support.
Why? For a very simple reason. He fought for our freedom. Everyone's freedom.
Thanks, Dad! I salute you today.
Carol: LOL!
ReplyDeleteMy dad was in the Vietnam War. He went for all the wrong reasons. His dad abused him so bad that he thought he might as well join the army, how can life get any worse.
ReplyDeleteHe volunteered for three tours.
He said what bothered him the most were the snakes. He said the soliders always slept with their boots on, because the little snakes would crawl into their boots.
He came back in 1967 to a country that didn't support him. It still makes him sad to this day the lack of support & respect most soliders received when they came back from Vietnam.
He was exposed to Agent Orange. He had prostate cancer at the age of 50. Right now he has type two diabetes and he is thin as a rail. He has numerous large cysts removed from all over his body and they have been cancer free.
My dad told me the other day that the war may have taken a huge toll on his mental and physical health, but it did change him in one important way.
ReplyDeleteAfter surviving all what he did he thought it was a sign to turn his own life around at home.
He broke the pattern that his family set before him. He broke the cycle of abuse.
Even though I'm not happy with all my dad's health problems, he sure has been blessed with great doctors at the VA hospitals.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have one near us, so he has to do a lot of traveling. It has been worth the extra miles to Madison, Wisconsin or to Rockford, Il.
I have heard about the press at VA hospitals, but so far we have been very blessed with great healthcare for him.
Thank you for the post of Remembrance and Veteran's Day!
ReplyDeleteHi IBB, congrats on 1st today! :)
My mom's dad was killed in WWII, and one of my brothers is in the Army, and has been deployed to Iraq twice now.
My grandpa was killed in the Phillipines and is buried at the American Cemetary in Manila.
My mom has been to visit him twice now, the last time was last year. She took some of her mom's ashes and spread them on his grave, so they could be together again.
It was very therapeutic for my mom.
The cemetary itself is beautiful, from the pictures I've seen. It is maintained and clean.
Here is a pic from their web site if anyone cares to see it
http://www.abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/ml.php
My mom tried to have his remains brought to the U.S. but for some reason, it is not allowed.
I want to pay my respects to all those who have served, and continue to serve.
iteach: Wow! If I could, I would give your Dad a hug today.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting awful radical in my old age, owls. I just posted this over in Rossland:
It's Veteran's Day! On my customary phone call to my parents up in Canada last Saturday, my Dad, a WW2 gunnery officer, nearly reduced me to tears. He and my Mom are very upset about Prop 8, and he made a very simple observation: That he, and all the vets of WW2, fought to maintain our freedom.
I am so delighted to see the outpouring of affection for Ross on the blog today. It gives me hope, that someday, we shall overcome, and Ross will regain the freedom to marry the person of his choice.
Another thing is giving me hope. This weekend, a national day of protest is being planned against Propositions 8, 22, and 2, all of which took away people's freedom the marry the person of their choice, and the proposition in Arkansas that took away unmarried couple's freedom to adopt children.
Blog buddies across the US, I urge you to check out the website below, find out where the protest is happening in your area, and join in.
http://jointheimpact.com/
The essence of fascism is to take people's freedoms away under the guise of a religious or political doctrine.
Together, let's stand up against the forces of fascism this weekend. Let's stand up in support of Ross's freedom.
Let's make my Dad, and all the veterans who fought to preserve our freedom against a fascist threat, proud!
Today I honor all Veterans but I especially honor my grandfather who was severely wounded at Pearl Harbor by a mortar shell. He was put with the bodies of the dead soldiers but someone came back and heard him moan. He survived and spent the remainder of his short life in a wheel chair. My grandpa passed away at the age of 53. All of his sons served in the military. My Dad made it his career for 26 years.God bless our soldiers. They are so patriotic and so brave and they protect us with their lives if need be.
ReplyDeleteA huge salute to ALL whom have served our country!!!
ReplyDeleteWHABBY - What an incredible thing for your Dad to say to you!! It about made me cry.
ITEACH - Kudos for your Dad, not only for serving (wow....3 tours!!), but especially for breaking the cycle of violence.
IBB - Congrats on first!!!
CAROL - Please hug your Dad and thank him for me!!
SHIRLEY - I'm so glad that you could get the cross and take part in the ceremony today.
I can't count how many servicemen and vets that I waited on today....but I said THANK YOU to each and every one!!
Wow...they are actually having a protest near me!
ReplyDeleteCarol
ReplyDeleteyou can buy a step counter at Walgreens. I have also seen them in many shopping magazines. David bought his Dad's step counter at Academy. It cost $10 to $20.
Wabbear
I am going over to the other blog to see what you wrote. LOL.
Dreama: All I can say is, whoa! Kudos to your grandfather and all his children!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st ibebold!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, everyone.
You'll notice I blip off the radar from time to time. I get overwhelmed trying to catch up with comments when my life gets busy. I'll catch up eventually. :) I hope you and your loved ones are well.
I had the party for my daughter Saturday. Five girls spent the night, making it ooze over into Sunday. Good time was had by all.
My son bought his first car Sunday. A 1985 Dodge Omni, for the low, low price of $400. One owner 84,000 miles. He calls it the Gold Bullet. I think he is in love.
Yesterday my cousin died. Really shocking as she was only 38. They think it was a heart condition.
This morning, trying to snap myself out of the shocked state, I spent breakfast with the veterans at the nursing home. Most were in WWII or the Korean War.
Even those who don't recall what they watched on TV last night, still remember war as if it were yesterday. Amazing men, and one woman who was a nurse.
Today is a strong reminder to me to hold those near and dear closely. No one knows how much time any of us have left. XOXO
NO NEWZ - Sending gentle ((((hugs)))) to you today. I'm so sorry for your loss. On a brighter note, I'm glad you survived your daughter's birthday party. I had a party here for Sam's 14th in August...and all I can say is that I was on the phone with MEK, and her and her hubby were helping me drink that night!!! lol!! And congrats to your son and his gold bullet!! lol @ I think he's in love!!!
ReplyDeleteGOOD GRIEF....her and her hubby?!!? I think it should be she and her hubby. So sorry!!
ReplyDeleteiteach...what an incredible man your Dad is! To make a conscious effort to stop the cycle of abuse. Wow! So unfair that he dealing with what he is dealing with, but glad he is getting good medical care!
ReplyDeleteWhabbear...no wonder you're such an amazing guy...you've got an amazing Dad!!!! I am trying to find out if there is anything happening in Vancouver or Victoria in solidarity and support for the day of action, but so far haven't found anything. If there is something happening here that day, I'm there!
No Newz..so sorry about your cousin! Big hugs and good thoughts to you and your family!
Jodi...hey! How's it going there in North America?
IBB Congrats on #1. I hope you're feeling much better today.
ReplyDeleteCarol Thank you for the blog today. We should always remember and honor our service men and women. They not only risk losing their lives, but their limbs, their personal relationships, everything, really.
Lois/NoNewz I'm so sorry for your loss. What a tragedy.
Shirley I'm so glad you were able to get the cross and pay respects to your dad today.
Bear Those words of support from your dad brought tears to my eyes. How lucky you are to have a father like that.
iteach Kudos to your dad for breaking the cycle of violence.
Goldie I second your "Holy Shit!"
So sorry No Newz...(((hugs)))
ReplyDeletenn/ll- so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteJodi- Biff and I are still holding hands. We are taking it slow, for some reason my ability to sit and read has been non-existant lately. :)
Call me when you want to go have a drink for real!
Bear- your dad sounds awesome!
VIG - It's going ok here in North America. How's it going across the Pacific River?!!? :P
ReplyDeleteGOLDIE - I'll have to consult my calendar, but I'm totally up for cocktails!!! lol @ holding hands with Biff!!!
I just got back from buying tickets to the midnight showing of Twilight on the 21st. Thankfully I was able to take the day off from work. I told the girls they could go to the movie, but they have to go to school in the morning!!!
DIANNE - Thanks for keeping me company on the way home from Madison!! How was that ride on your dryer?
Thank you CAROL for your kind words and video. I seems it has been Veteran's Day in my mind and heart almost everyday since 2003. Bless them for their brave souls that they are here for us. What has broken my heart for the last 40years is the lack of enough care we take of them when they return home. So so many stories of veterans coming home and ending up living on the street. So many of them waiting months and months for financial help. So many emotionally and physically broken. We owe them absolutely EVERYTHING.
ReplyDeleteHello to IBEBOLD, MEK, SHIRLEY ITEACH, LYNND, CAROL, SACBARB, GOLDIE, VIG SCIRISH,WHABBEAR, EBJ, DREAMA, JODI, NONEWZ & SLIN

NONEWZ, What a horrible shock. I wish quick healing for you.
SACBARB, have a great trip.
Go for it VIG!!!
ReplyDeleteCPGEM: What a beautiful blog today. Thank you for posting it, and the video. I am going to go over to my neighbor's house today. He is in his 80's and served in WWII. He was a medic at Anzio and is still haunted by what he saw.
ReplyDeleteThank you to all who served our Country...it is truly an act of selflessness for which I am very grateful.
IBB: Congrats on FIRST..sorry to hear you were so sick. I'm glad you are on your way to feeling better.
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY: I'm glad you were able to get the cross to honor your Dad.
MEK: Hope your long day turns out to be a good one.
SACBARB: You will get back..and until then we'll miss you...have fun!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the condolences. XOXO
ReplyDelete68
ReplyDeleteFeelin' fine, look out for who comes next with 69!!!
By the way, due to the economy, 69 will now be known as 96, because, even the cost of eating out has gone up. XOXO
ITEACH: Please tell your father thank you. I remember when the soldiers started returning from Vietnam...it was heart wrenching.
ReplyDeleteVIG: What a heartfelt and beautiful post..
SCIRISH: Hope you feel better soon.
LOIS: I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. Your last line is so true.
GOLDIE: I know how you're feeling about the bill, YIKES!!
Waving HI to: JODI, BEAR, LANI, J/LIN, EBJ and LYNND!
69.....for NONEWZ'S cousin Paula
ReplyDeleteZONA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNO NEWZ - ROFLMAO......96?!!?
ReplyDeleteJODI: Sorry. That was an accidental 69! :D
ReplyDeleteLL: But eating IN is still the same..right? ;)
Zona...you are so cool! Thanks for the comment on my comment! Have you recovered from the Nikki knock down yet?
ReplyDeleteLani...I saw your news on MS!!! That is so great! Congratualtions, Gran!!!
Jodi..I am driving up island beside the River now...if I hear banjos, I call ya!
Thanks, Goldie!
ReplyDeleteZona: I can't wait to get back to the desert for Thanksgiving!
ROFLMAO@Lois: "The cost of eating out"!!!!
A salute to everyone that has served our country. My dad was in WW11. My heart goes out to anyone in the military, the families, etc.
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY; I am glad you were able to get a cross and go to the service for your dad today. I hope it gave you peace inside.
LOIS: I am very sorry about your cousin. Very sad.
JODI: It was my pleasure to ride home with you. It was a nice break from working/cleaning. I think I got it wrong...I thought you ssid to take a ride "in the dryer" rather than "on the dryer." It didn't work out so well!~! :)
How can you work all day on a project and then when you look at your progress it doesn't look as though you spent as much time on it as you really did? It is frustrating to me. I think I am trying to move clutter rather than get rid of it!
LANI: Congratulations on your granddaughter-to-be! Yea!!!!!
Well, I guess I will go and take a shower and put this project to the side for awhile.
Hey guys---I just read a notice that Tim McGraw is going to host SNL on the 22nd! Now that should be a good show---sigh...
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - Thanks for the hottie alert!!! And I'm so sorry the dryer didn't work out for you. :P
ReplyDeleteJODI: I think next time you might have to draw me a picture. It was one hell of a fit trying to get into that thing!
ReplyDeleteDIANE & VIG Thank you for the congrats. When we watched the U/S the baby lifted her arm and waved.
ReplyDeleteLANI: She was waving at grandma! Is their first child? Do you have other grandchildren....refresh my memory!
ReplyDeleteThe room now looks better but not complete. I think I need a bigger house! I really am going to go and get spiffed up now before MrD comes home and finds me as he left me!
ReplyDeleteDIANNE: You should have used Bounce..you wouldn't have to get 'spifffed up'!! ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry about that extra 'f'..I got carried away.. ;)
ReplyDeleteDIANNE, Jennifer is our one and only child and this is her first baby. It just blows my mind how fast the years go by when our children are growing up. My child is having a child. It isn't like I tried to keep her a child. She went to Russia in high school and lived in Zimbabwe for six months, but I guess if I were 90 and she 60 I would still see her as my child. It is hard to put into words. Was this TMI? Do I sound like a nut?
ReplyDeleteDIANNE,JODI & ZONA, YOU ARE CRACKING ME UP. I will never look at my dryer the same way again. That song (can't remember the name or more that a few words)Love Machine is going through my head.
ReplyDeleteLANI: No you don't sound like a nut..you sound happy and proud, and you should be!! My mom always said that it didn't matter how old I got..I would always be her 'baby'. :)
ReplyDeleteLANI: "ooooooooooyeaaaahhhhhhh" LOL
ReplyDeleteGotta go make dinner..have a great evening...
Thank you ZONA & YOUR MOTHER. :)
ReplyDeleteLani So when are we going to go shopping for cute little girl baby clothes?
ReplyDeleteSLIN, How sweet of you to ask. I know, baby clothes keep going through my head.
ReplyDeleteDid you get your hair done? I am going to work for a couple of hours tomorrow. I warned them that I look like swamp thing.
Lani I look like the swamp thing today. I mopped the bathroom and kitchen floors and did a bunch of other boring housework. I look like crap. I get my hair done tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteShirley:
ReplyDeleteYes, Now I remember, Also I hope the ceremony today brought you peace.
Lani:
Congrats you will be a new grandma! Kudos!!
Iteach:
Thanks for sharing your dad with us, I don't remember the war that well, however I do remember lots
of controversy. I am glad he is doing ok...Kudos to him..
EBJ:
Wow, I think that was so nice of your mom to do, so they can be together again. So special...
Whabby:
That was so special what your dad said...Wow....

CPGEM: Thank you for that. :) :)
ReplyDeleteCPGEM: "...ar" or "...arette"? ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry...thinking of Denny..lol..
Thanks CAROL. & EBJ, yes that was very touching about your mom and dad.
ReplyDeleteHi everybody! Congrats on first IBB!!
ReplyDeleteCarol, I am glad several people gave you the answer to the question about my steps. Although, I don't know what they are talking about, I thought I was supposed to count them every day, all the time. It has been really hard to concentrate on anything else. Is there really a thing out there to count them for me? ;)
Carol, also, great blog. Once again, we honor those that have made the ultimate sacrifice and the ones that serve today as well. When I used to live near DC we would to to the Vietnam Veteran's memorial today or on the weekend, they always had a lot of wonderful activities to honor those who serve.
I wish I could get on here more but I have a test I was supposed to complete a month ago that I have not completed. I have committed to working on it after work, dinner, walk, etc. So now I won't be online later and if I am earlier, I hope someone asks me if I did my studying!! LOL.
Lois, so sorry to hear about your cousin, that is quite young. :(
Going to read more of the comments.
Carol: Do you smoke?
ReplyDeleteBebbi:
ReplyDeleteYep, especially when I get 69 as a cig is always needed, and now according to Zona, 100 is the new 69!
:O)
Good evening everyone.
ReplyDeleteI salute all our Veterans. Many have come home wounded mentally and physically. My nephew came home from Iraq a mess mentally. He was a medic and had a hard time getting awful pictures out of his mind. He is doing better now. My brother was in Vietnam & my son was in Dessert Storm.I had a niece serve in Iraq too.
NoNewz, sorry for your loss. That is very young to die.
Ibb & Scirish, hope you both are feeling better tomorrow.
Whabby~I absolutely love your Dad!!
Unfortunatly the nearest protest march here is in Detroit! If the protest was on the 29th I could march in Vegas!
Thanks to everyone who acknowledged my post in area 51. You made me feel warm and fuzzy all over lol! Seriously, thanks for the kind words.
Bebbi:
ReplyDeleteLOL... on counting your steps...
Shirley:
ReplyDeleteAre you ok?

ReplyDeleteHello Zona, Carol, Bear, Bebbi and Mary and anyone else in the nest tonight.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the nice comments about my dad.
ReplyDeleteAfter my dad did his basic training. They put him on a train and told him he was going on a boat overseas. They refused to tell him where he was going.
However, my dad figured it our real quick when the train had to stop, because there were protesters laying on the tracks.
Lani, how exciting that it is a girl! Congrats!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMary, I was just thinking that it has been a while since you been to Vegas. I thought you were due for a trip. Cool!!!
Hi justlynn & Zona!
ReplyDeleteWhabby~ My Hubby is the gambling nut lol! I'm just a tag-a-longer who gets lucky once in a while!

ReplyDeleteiteach, We served beef stew and chili at our post. They were thanking us! I said, "no, we thank YOU!"
ReplyDeleteiteach Waving a wing at you.
ReplyDeleteMary Yes, it seems I am missing out on something special about the dryer, too. I think we will have to ask Jodi about it. ;)
Hello Linda!!!!

ReplyDeleteOh yea, a wonderful glass of Traverse Bay cherry wine.
Mary You don't sound too deprived. LOL
ReplyDeleteCarol: I had a brain fart on the having a cig. I should read the comments from top to bottom instead of bottom to top. shesh.

ReplyDeleteEasiest way not to fail: Don't TRY. Procrastinate.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am off to bed too. I hope that everyone has a great Wednesday in another 4 minutes it starts here.
nighters and sweet dreams!
Nighters!
ReplyDeleteHello feathered friends!
ReplyDeleteI know it is late, and I admit I haven't read the comments yet...I will!
I wanted to address yesterdays topic.
I may be stupid, but can someone explain to me why same gender marriages will destroy the sanctity of the institution of marriage?
How will the marriage of two men or two women negate the marriage of a man to a woman?
Why are we not to celebrate the fact that there are two people that love each other, want to have a committed and monogomous realtionship?
It seems to me that the sanctity of marriage had been compromised long before the issue of same gender marriage came about. Something like 60% of heterosexual marriages have ended in divorce, so I am confused by the correlation.
What is there to be so scared of? If my friend K-Girl finds the love of her life, the woman she wants to spend the rest of her life with, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, then why should she not be entitled to the same rights (and responsibilities) as my friends Birdee and Mr. Birdee or Goldie and Mr. Goldie?
I know these are rhetorical questions, but I just don't get it.
Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to rant yesterday ;)~
Ok,, off to read.......
Good ranting, Moweenie! :)
ReplyDeleteoy...just read all the comments!
ReplyDeletei hope I can remember what I wanted to say!!
IBB...congtrats on 1st!
CAROL... beautiful blog. I pay hommage to all the vets, their families and friends who sacrifice so much for all of us.
And yes, I worked tonight!
My dad was in WWII. He was injured in action. One of his duties was cook. One day, as he was peeling potatoes, his buddy was keeping him company and cleaning his rifle. Yep, you guess it...shot my dad in the ass!! My dad never talked about his military service, but he also passed away when I was only 8, so I imagine it just wasn't something to discuss with a child.
LOIS LANE...my condolences on your loss. Wayyyy too young. {{hugs}}
LANI...congrats on the news! A baby girl...sooo sweet! I'm getting the feeling she will be one spoiled little granddaughter!!
ITEACH...thank you for your candor in sharing your dad's experiences with us. I am glad he gets good care at the VA hospital. I think it is incomprehensible that so many Vets have to continue the war when they return to get needed aid. Just not right...
WHABBY..your parents sound like great people.
SHIRLEY...I am so glad you got to get a cross for your dad's grave. I know it is special for you to do.
Oyyy, I can't remember what else I wanted to say. I know, I said enough!
