Merry Christmas

It is on this day the 25th of December that we celebrate Christmas, in my Religion it is taught to us that it is the day our Christ was born. As I child attending Catholic School the days leading up to Christmas were spectacular. I remember the musicals, choir practice, church services, making ornaments, Christmas parties, exchanging gifts. I have such a strong memory of all this, that I truly think this has molded me into loving Christmas and what it represents. And as the generations in my family pass thru, each still celebrate Christmas as I did. It is a wonder how for so many years, these traditions around me have not changed. We all say "Merry Christmas" and each Christmas we have spent in the same manner. My church service has not changed, and I still believe in all the good of Christmas.

Some past times leading up to Christmas, there might have been obstacles to sustain me of being most jolly, yet on Christmas Day, I always felt the good, and of course the yellow. As much as the rush of Christmas can put one in a sour mood, its the joy of being where you are and who you are with that will bring the happiness forth.

Christmas is most definitely the most precious for the children, in their eyes it is just a magical time. With wide eyes, bedhead hair, runny nose, and Christmas PJ's on they open their gifts and squeal in delight with each one. To watch this, which I have, it is certainly a very special treat, and the best of all this, is the memory that is being made, for it will live in your heart forever.

On this day, you can spend it however you choose, it does not have to be with a certain person, or a special place, or even with family. What matters most is that you are where you want to be, and even if its alone watching a movie, that is surly ok, because its everyone's Christmas, to be spent exactly as one prefers.

Christmas is here, today is the day
a joy, a sign, a card, a gift, a smile, a memory
a hug, a kiss, a hoot!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

  3. CAROL - Great blog!! I have fond memories of Christmas. Christmas Eve at my Grandma J's house, dinner, then off to the candlight service. When we got back from church, this is when Santa would come!! Oh, the fun of opening presents with my family surrounding me. My parents, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course my Grandma!!! After we finished opening the gifts, this is when we had oyster stew!! On Christmas Day we now go to my Dad's house. We have carried over the tradition of the oyster stew. And once we started having kids, we brought back the tradition of having Birthday cake for the Baby Jesus!! Afterall this is the reason for the season!!

I just took the b'day cake out of the oven and am having a cup of coffee. Wishing all my HOoters a blessed holiday!!

    Peace & Luv from WESconsin!!

    Good Morning........

Santa just went thru the neighborhood on the back of the firetruck!! He was escorted by police and the EMT's - was pretty cool to see the little children waving to him from end of their driveways!!

(but - to be honest - it scared the crap out of me - with the sirens - I thought something else was going on next door!!)..

I hope everyone has an excellent day!!

  19. Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm patiently waiting for my stepdaughter's mom to decide to bring Grace here.

She was suppose to be here 40 minutes ago, but late as always.

As soon as she comes we are off to Grandma's house.

I feel really bad for my stepdaughter she goes to five different houses on Christmas. She spends a total of four 1/2 hours on the road going to all of these houses.

It is this way, because that is how her mom wants it.

Hubby was willing to not see her every other Christmas, so Gracie wouldn't have to do so much traveling.

However, mother fought tooth and nail to have her every Christmas morning.

They travel three hours to our house Christmas morning. Then her mom picks her up at noon and drives another 45 minutes to her mom's mom's house. Then drive another 45 minutes to her mom's dad's house. Finally, we pick her up at 6:30 and she stays for seven days.

    Is that crazy or what!

  20. omg iteach..Crazy is right! lol

That is awful..I'm exhausted just reading that!

Loved the blog this morning! Carol you just have a way with words, it's always so touching.

    Congrats on first Jodi!

MR. EBJ is working today, so I am staying in and catching up from a super busy past few days.

He surprised me last night with flannel sheets, so I am washing them and will get to enjoy them tonight.

Tomorrow we will go visit my mom and dad, then go see his mom in Sacramento on Sat.

Poe is being extra noisy this morning and keeping me entertained.

Iteach I feel badly for your stepdaughter. I wonder if she gets to totally enjoy Christmas with all the driving and stuff. Poor child.

I'm glad she gets to stay with your family for a week!

I hope everyone has a nice day today, no matter what your plans!

  44. Sorry I didn't get here earlier to wish you all a happy day, but I hope all had a happy Christmas Day and Day 5 of Hanukkah.

I went to Church early and for the first time that I can remember, the Church wasn't overflowing with people. They even set up extra chairs along side the pews because usually it is standing room only on Christmas. I don't know why this year was so different. It actually bothered me.

We opened gifts and had a wonderful prime rib dinner and now we are watching Batman, Dark Knight, again. I am so exhausted I would probably fall asleep if I wasn't typing.

Carol, Thanks for your blog today and every day. You and the other Owls have contributed to some of the best memories I have of this past year. Love you and all the HOoters.

  45. CAROL - So nice that Aunt Jo's daughter is carrying on her mother's tradition. It made me smile....and brought a tear to my eye.

SACBARB - I just saw Dark Knight for the first time with my youngest a couple weeks ago. I took him to see it at the cheap theater. I really felt it was a movie not to miss on the big screen. I hope they honor Heath Ledger's memory with an Oscar nomination. It is so deserved...he was brilliant in that movie!!

ITEACH - Thanks for the text...you definitely made me smile today!! :O)

Dinner was great at my Dad's house!! Came home and took a 5 hour nap.....omg!! Thankfully I don't have to work tomorrow....kids have things that we need to return. I can't believe that I'm going back to the mall tomorrow!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jodi, I saw it for the first time on the big screen too, when it first came out. I agree that Heath Ledger did an excellent job and deserves the Oscar.

The movie is almost over and we are going to bed early. Too many late nights and early mornings lately. Good night everyone and sweet sugar plum dreams to you all.
