What the heart can hold!

I wonder at times, how much the heart can hold, there is so much we ask our heart to do. From giving us life, to holding our loved ones, to keeping our memories alive. When it is quiet, I try to hear the beat, and sometimes I think I can hear it, and when I do, I realize it is the center of my being. I picture my heart to be very big, and warming, I am grateful for a warming heart as I think it brings me so much joy.

With a warm heart, life can be a treasure. It allows me to give of myself without asking anything in return. My memories that are all stored in my heart, bring me such comfort at times of need. The feelings that I have for my friends, family, all come from my heart.

The heart can also sustain the hurt, and when it does hurt you can actually feel it. It knows how, when ready to put the hurt deep within, so it is not always in the forefront. And when the hurt surfaces once more, the heart is there to comfort, with every beat.

It is in amazement to me, how one can have a cold heart, but truth be told, there are many who do. Some can turn away in a instant, without looking back, as the feelings of a warm heart just don't exist. I have encountered this in my life, and each time, I just can't comprehend why.

My heart holds so much that is dear to me, it harbors all my thoughts, secrets, loves and pleasures. It is good to have a warm heart, and as long as mine is beating, it will warm me forever.

  2. Congrats on first, Sandie! Oh, that's me!

Carol, you obviously have a warm, big heart. I, too, look for the kind heart in people as I always expect to find it. It's hard to understand when I don't find it. But, I do think most people have kind hearts.

Tinka, I hope we see you today because that would mean you're feeling better! Hugs to you.

I have a woman here cleaning my bathrooms and floors! I didn't even tell my hubby. He's going to think I've been really busy today! hee hee

  5. Good Morning!!

CPGEM: Eventhough my heart is very fragile, I wear it on my sleeve...and thus everyone seems to know just how I feel. I've tried, over time to guard my heart...sometimes I can, most times I cannot. For that reason, it is easily broken. But you're right, the heart is amazing...for with a little love and understanding..a broken heart will mend. I often listen with my heart, instead of my head. This usually gets me in trouble, because it makes me too sensitive. I've tried to be tougher..but can't quite figure out how. Seems this is the only way I know how to be...so this is the way I'm destined to stay.

    Great blog today CPGEM..thank you.

  11. Morning Glories!

    Sandie got first! Yay!

    Hi IBB and Carol!

"It is in amazement to me, how one can have a cold heart, but truth be told, there are many who do. Some can turn away in a instant, without looking back, as the feelings of a warm heart just don't exist. I have encountered this in my life, and each time, I just can't comprehend why."

Carol this paragraph resonated with me. I think for some people it is a defense mechanism and some just are cold people who think only of themselves. Sad but true. I always wonder if this is learned or a trait that they are born with?

I think I have a big heart sometimes so much so I have to guard against letting everything in and through. As this can cause great heartache and has at times affected my health and well being.

A heartfelt Good Morning to all!

  12. Good Morning Zona! Was posting while you were.

  13. Hi Carol! Wow, QOTD, too! Maybe I should play the lottery today!!

Zona, I'm a lot like you. I've just decided to embrace my sensitivity because I can't change it. It's okay--it makes you who you are and that's why we all love you!

    ReplyDelete
  14. CPGEM: I'll tell Tinka for you. I'm going to watch AI this season...just to see what all the excitement is about. I may have to skip the very beginning as I tend to feel uncomfortable listening to the really bad singers. I feel so awful for them.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hi LynnD! I wonder that, too--if it's learned or an innate trait. An innate hate trait. Try saying that three times.

Okay, I'm on my nerves. I think I'm just giddy over someone else cleaning my bathrooms.

    BBL!

Zona- I KNOW how big your heart is...

Another crappy start to the day today and I could eat the asshole out of a rhino. PMS and the frigid cold. Why is it that people can not just be friendly to others? Cold hearts I guess.

  30. Goldie~~I adore you! You snuck in while I was typing the following, saw you here...your humor gets me EVERY time.

I'd have been here sooner, but got distracted by emails, including Amazon.com's specials on New Year's fitness products. I feel so naive and uninformed.....

"BOOTY SWEAT"? "PIMPJUICE"?? People can actually drink stuff with those names? Guess if I was more fit and spent more time in the Energy Drink aisle, I'd be more informed (or if I'd seen the movie Tropic Thunder)!

It's a little early in the day to read a 'satisfied customer' review of Booty Sweat, so...next post.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Morning Owls!!
Congrats on first Sandie..AND you have a woman cleaning your floors and bathrooms???? Heaven!

The thing I find amazing about the heart is that it can physically hurt when you are in emotional pain. I wonder why that is?

I have read of instances where someone has a heart transplant and has taken on some of the characteristics, likes and dislikes of the person they received the heart from. Again, amazing! Doctors and scientists have not been able to explain this phenomenon as the person that received the heart had no knowledge of the donor. It makes me think that the heart is more than just an organ, but what exactly IS it?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Review from Amazon.com customer:

"Ah, Booty Sweat. A name which invokes feelings of delight and wonder. From the first *kssk* of opening the can to the last drop that slides seductively but insistently down your throat, you'll be gripped in jittery rapture. Refreshing and yet dank, tart and yet... tart. After experiencing the crisp sweet and salty flavor you'll see why this drink is favored 10 to 1 on the set of every major (adult) motion picture. Bottled at the source (Newark, NJ) this drink is guaranteed to pack all that rank flavor that your life of shame has led you to love. Booty Sweat! Its Poppin!"

  33. Gotta run, but HI SCIRISH!!! I've heard those stories and wondered the same~~Part of my spiritual quest to understand what it's all about.

    ReplyDelete
  34. GOLDIE: Okaaaaay then...lol...I hope your day gets better so that you won't feel like partaking in a bite of rhino ass... ;)

MEK: Oh good..if they show good auditions, I won't have to miss any of AI!!

BON'O: I second SCIRISH...ewwwww!! Those energy drinks make my heart beat so dang fast..and I always feel like I'm having a hotflash!

G'Morning SCIRISH my Ratpack buddy!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Goldie: LOL! I know you have a big heart, because even when you're in dire straits, you're always willing to commit an unselfish act in the service of others.

Case in point: This morning. You said:

"Another crappy start to the day today and I could eat the asshole out of a rhino".

For some rhino's, that would be the sexual experience of their lives!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Carol: Loved the blog, especially the part about the heart being able to put the hurt aside. So true!

Kay...I am off to bed. Everyone have a good day..and remember, trust your heart..it knows.

    G'night!!!

  38. Good Morning My Lovely Owls.
I am being taken to the doctor this morning. I think I am getting better. It has been "vertigo" whereby every thing spins. This makes me sick. I have had it before so I have learned to stay still. I have so much to catch up on; blogs, anniversaries, messages and picture comments. Thanks to all of you and I will be back on as soon as the computer screen stops spinning.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh, Tink, I feel for you. I have episodic (best case, minutes--worst case, 3 months!)Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, aka BPPV. Not fun! With me, things don't spin. They shake violently side to side as if I were in a paint can shaker at the hardware store. Other than the Epley Maneuver, the ONLY thing that helps is to be perfectly still, eyes open. Take care, dear.

  40. Good morning!

Sandie, congrats on 1st!! You are AMAZING!

A truly wonderful blog today Carol. I too think most people have a warm, kind, generous hearts.

Our hearts sure have a big job huh? Incredible joy and elation to incredible despair, it has to take on the gamut.

Zona, I am a lot like you, wearing the heart on the sleeve. But, I've had to learn to put it away at times.

Sometimes people (mainly family members) turn to me for strength, and even tho I feel like I am the one who needs the support, will tough it out and be the strong one.

What is really surprising to me is that I can do it and survive.

Yes, the heart is quite an incredible thing.

Whab, you again cracked me up! I didn't even consider Goldie's comment about the rhino in a sexual way!

Bono don't think Pimp Juice or Booty Sweat would make it past my lips. Yuck!

VIG thank you for the comment on Poe's new Youtube video! I have a couple more I may put up today!

Good morning to IBB, Goldie, Carol, Tink (feel better dear!), MEK, Lynn & Scrishy!

  49. My heart contains my best answers in life. My mind contains a lot of facts, but that isn't where I find my answers. Do you ever have thoughts that literally start in you chest?

I think that mean spirited people just have walls around their hearts. I think when we look deep inside we will find a good soul that is hurting.

Oh brother...here I am commenting that if we look deep into someone we will find goodness, when the emerg.Alert came on with a child abduction. What goes on in the heart of a child abductor.

  52. Good morning/afternoon Owls.

Carol, Thanks for the 'heart warming' blog. I know someone with a cold heart and I don't understand how this person can be so unfeeling. I think she is just so unhappy inside that she can't feel any other emotion. It's really sad. I pray for her a lot.

Sandie, congrats on #1. I want cleaning people. I'm having a sorority meeting at my house tonight and I haven't done much cleaning because I've been sick. Now I have to at least make this house presentable. I am going to clean the bathrooms and close all the bedroom doors.

Waving a wing at all the Owls here and all who land later. Gotta go clean a bathroom.

  53. Sandie Good for you to beat out LynnD and Scirish today!

Carol Very timely blog for me today. It is too personal right now for me to comment on.

When we are babies, we have hearts that are open to everyone and everything. I think we have to be taught to close it up tight as a fist.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just_Lin? I just want to reach through the computer and hug you!! Okay, I'm hugging you--can you feel it?? I hope you're okay.

  55. SANDIE, you made me laugh first thing. You are absolutely giddy today.

BON are we going to see one of your beautiful photo displays of the body juice bar? That makes 2 giddy OWLS...what a good start to the day.

If ZONA doesn't get any sleep we may yet have a 3rd giddy OWL.

CAROL, thank you for your post today.

LYNN, I'm sure in the work you do it is easy to let to much in at times. Try closing your eyes and filling yourself up with sunlight and sending the pain away. You will keep your compassion, but not the pain of it.

I started this post about 1 hour ago and was then distracted ny Hillary's confirmation hearing.

  56. I feel gooooood! Laundry's done, went to the gross-ry store, watched some lady clean my bathrooms and floors.

  58. Sandie Thank you for the hug! LOL @ Lani's first boyfriend. I needed that laugh!

    ReplyDelete
  59. GOLDIE, I think you are right.

SACBARB, I think SANDIE just grabs people off the street to clean her bathrooms.

TINK, I do hope the doctor will give you something today to help your balance. I have had middle ear infections before and it is awful to lose one's balance.

EBJ, Being a Registered Nurse I think people immediately cling to you for support. You are a healer.

I have read everyone's posts so fast I am afraid I am leaving things out or getting them wrong. I am feeling guilty because I should be doing something in the house.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sacbarb, I wish I lived near you so I could help you clean up for your company. Okay, well really I'd send this lady over.

You'll be fine tonight--no one really looks at anything but the toilet (is what I think). So, close your doors and enjoy your evening.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lani, LOL!!! Actually, she rang my doorbell the other day and asked if she could clean for me. So I guess I did kind of grab her off the street!

    ReplyDelete

    Right back attcha! ♥♥

    Lynn,
I was thinking the same, is someone born with a cold heart,
or does it become cold along the way. After much thought
I think both are true, sad but true...

    Bon,
I love that song! I had no idea Eddie Fisher sang.. Now here
is the question, I know its from a musical, but which one?

    Mek,
Oh my.. yes the heartbeat of a child, I remember my nephews
beats, I used to listen to their hearts daily.. AMAZING is right..

    Goldie,
Well then you go right ahead and take a chomp out of that
    rhino's ass.. but please, Don't Swallow.. :O)

    Goldie,
Oh crap, I don' think I am going to look at a donut hole the
    same ever!

    Mek,
Craving donuts or a Rhino's ass, as according to Goldie its
    all the same.. :O)

    Scirish,
Yes, exactly, I so believe the heart hurts..

  88. Whabby,

  96. The following is an excerpt from a message I got from DONNA (HARTLDO) this evening. The power of the warm hearts on this nest is evidenced in her note...

Things are looking up, that is for sure. And my mom and sister are FINALLY seeing it. They've been so negative and they bring me down. I'm the only one who has never given up hope, but I know it's because of all my wonderful friends like you, who support me and keep me in their thoughts and prayers. I'm not just saying that either. Typing these thoughts down, calling a friend, hearing from a friend (via phone, email or in person), etc. has really kept me going. Just knowing people are out there for me and knowing that they care is such a comfort during this time. I so believe in positive energy and everyone is giving me enough to allow me to pass it on to Dad. I told him this tonight and he said thank you.

Now more than ever, I know to NEVER GIVE UP!

Thank you so much for your friendship!

(Feel free to pass this message along to anyone you want. You can even post it on the Owl's Nest, if you want.))

    Your Friend,
    Donna

Let's keep PUSHing for DONNA and her DAD!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Ok... stepping away from the computer now... going to take my cough meds..

    ReplyDelete
  107. Sandie! Congrats on first!!

Carol: What an awesome blog. I think it was so beautiful and well written. When I was young (like 16-18) I always felt that my heart had SO much love to give and no one to give it to. I just really felt like it would burst with all the love I had. I believe that it is good to start your adult life out with a lot of love in your heart because then you will never run out. I have never run out and I have been able to show my love for life, family, friends and everything all throughout my life. I still have a lot of love in my heart but it doesn't ache with the burden of it like it did back then. I am glad I could give so much love away. That is one thing, my family and friends know how much I love them.

    Okay,,,going to read comments..

Idol was awesome! I wish I had a laptop so I could comment on here while watching. I just loved Stevie Wright. Who was everyone's fave? Also, loved Emily too..I didn't catch her last name but she was the rocker chick.

    ReplyDelete
  108. LynnD: I wonder that too..if it is something that they are born with or learned somehow along the way.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Carol For a minute there I thought you were "skipping" away from the computer. The thought of it made me laugh! Glad you got good meds so you can sleep at night. Thanks for the hugs and smiles, too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Carol, I have to admit I like AI too. I was watching hoping I would hate it. I guess that means I am hooked for the duration lol!!
I'll join you and go put my eye drops in bbl.........

    ReplyDelete
  111. Mo: Thanks for passing along Donna's message.

Donna: I know you are doing a great job getting through this. I am so glad to hear the news that things are looking up. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Thank goodness your sister and Mom are seeing the light too!! Yay!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Carol: My heart was loving American Idol too...and NEXT WEDNESDAY is the Louisville Segment..woo hoo!! I hope everyone gets to watch so they can see what a beautiful City Louisville is!!!!

They are going to have a special inside the audition too. I am excited to see that.

  113. Mo: Your comment about Carol sneezing on the computer made me laugh. Yesterday, one of my bosses brought in a container of nuts and raisins. In the afternoon I thought I would go ahead and have some almonds because they were not salted. I had ten of them..counted them out. Well, before I went to have those someone else in my department grabbed a handful. So, after I ate mine, I heard him coughing, blowing his nose and hacking up a hairball (or something!). Ohhhh I was just sick. I am sure I caught something from reaching in there and taking out those almonds. PLEASE remind me not to do that again..someone! I have been taking Zicam and praying that I don't get sick! (sorry long story).

    ReplyDelete
  114. Goldie: Good luck at Curves. That is very cool! I got a membership to the Y but I haven't walked there yet. I think I will go tomorrow. I just got it on Friday. I am excited..I can actually be warm when I walk! And, they have two pools!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Carol: Sorry to hear you have a cold. I bet the washing it out with saline is not a fun thing to have to do! yikes!...*grabs some more Zicam*..yes, I am going to need this.

I have been extremely..EXTREMELY tired, since Sunday. I know that I am getting close to catching something..and I am fighting it like a mad woman.

Oh.. and remember some owls are on west coast time, so they see things on tv after us.. so we try not to give any spoilers to do with the show, until they see it..
Then of course we can discuss our Rhinno asses off..lol

Sometimes these crazy west coast owls can't wait and will ask for a private spoiler (thru e-mail), well then I say.. e-mail them, if they ask then they shall receive..
