“What Have You Done Today?”

by MEK

Every Tuesday night when the Biggest Loser comes on, I get a little emotional with its theme song – “What Have You Done Today, To Make YOU Feel Proud?”

I have been writing versions of this blog since last September (or maybe before) – but each time – I decide that I do NOT want to publish it. I have been so proud of so many things that I have been able to do, overcome or just feel, etc. – But not real sure that I have wanted to share them with “everyone”.

I have been proud of the fact that I have NOT spoken publicly about SO many things that have been eating at me for so long.

I have been proud that I was there for a family member that needed me during their six/eight weeks of recovery.

I was extremely honored and proud when Carol dedicated a blog to me – since she and I “get it”.

I have been proud to be a new aunt and just love those little nephews with all my being.

I am proud of myself for having the courage to stay with Barney as he took his last breath. That was the hardest thing I have EVER had to do.

I am proud that we gave a little shelter puppy a new home filled with tons of love (even though there are tons of sleepless nights and energy like I have never seen before).

I could go on and on – but I won’t. As you can see – with each week that I have been writing and re-writing this blog – more and more things come to mind.

But – my proudest moment lately – I did NOT purchase the Russell Stover Valentine box of candy that was screaming my name in Walgreens today!! (LOL) So, I can watch The Biggest Loser tonight and know that I made myself proud TODAY!!

I guess it’s the little things in life that are important in the grand scheme of things.

What have you done today to make YOURSELF proud?

  1. MEK: What have I done today to make myself proud? Hmmmm..nothing so far, I'm afraid. Oh wait..I drank water instead of a Diet Coke. And I ate grapes instead of Oreos. Does that count??

I'll have to think more about this when I get up this afternoon.

Thanks for the thought provoking blog today MEK!!

  7. Hi Zona.. Congrats on first, I got your txt, sorry the pic did not go thru, I will save it for you, and if ever you think the pics are going thru let me know, and I will send it ya, as it was taken with you in mind..

Yesterday was in you who mentioned Prescott? or was it MEK? I have a travel colleague who moved out there about 6yrs ago, I have since lost touch with her, however when she first moved, we used to speak and she told me how beautiful it was.

  8. Mek,
What am I proud of today..

That I came to work with my foot pounding, and will work all day. But as I work I will pray that the pain goes away. I am a trooper. :O)

What have I been proud of...

    My relationship with my nephews..

    Owning my own business...

    America, always and forever...

Being a great daughter to my aging parents....

My relationship with my SIL, we have been thru so much, yet we stick together...

This blog... and all the owls in here, there have been some troubled times here in the nest, however these crazy owls have always conducted themselves in a adult manner, and have always respected this blog. Just makes me proud.

Thanks for your blog, and thank you for being you..

  9. Good Morning Hooters!

    Congrats on 1st Zona.

Wonderful blog MEK. You have a lot to be proud of.

So far today I am proud of myselffor not lashing at Mr. Goldie when he woke up grumpy and was snarly with me (he got over it).

I am proud that I am investing time to help someone straighten out a problem with an attorney and financial institution that is not going to garner one penny for this firm- but it is the right thing to do.

I am proud that my baby (24 1/2) called me this morning to tell me he loves me and that he is about to get on his flight to Florida. Wanted to make sure I had his temp address in Florida for the next month.

I am proud of myself for joining Curves and actually enjoying going!

MEK- I am proud of the fact that when I watched the Biggest Loser last night I didn't eat anything!

So far thats it for today. I hope you all have a great day.

Flapping my wing at Miss 69, Zonababy, Carol and Bear!

I finally got Tug and bailey back to sleep and he decided it was time to start up the ole' Harley for over a half hour before he could drive off.........

GOOD LORD - at 6:30a.m. - So - here we are- they are wide awake and I want to go back to bed....

Just Lin - in answer to your question - we have had three nights of ALMOST sleeping thru the whole night......

  14. Morning Owls! Hooting at Zonawoman, Tina, Whabbear, Goldie, Carol, MEK and all that fly in later!

MEK..wow! What a great blog! And I am proud of you for writing it and for all that you have done. And I am proud of all the Owls for what you have done and steps taken...as I say to students, pat yourself on the back!

    And for me,
I am proud that when the amoeba was screaming for chocolate cake last night, I fed it no fat, no sugar yogurt instead (and besides the yogurt should help eradicate the little sucker!!!)

I am proud that in the last year I made a realization about myself that I am growing and going with!

I am proud of myself for knowing that I need to make changes to what I am working at and requesting a leave of absence yesterday for the next school year.

I am proud of myself for joining a gym and then surprising myself by actually going!!!!

Woohoo...thank you so much MEK!!! What a great way to start the day...proud of myself and head held high!

  16. Happy Wednesday Owls.

Great blog MEK. You do have a LOT to be proud of and I am proud to know you. You even have inspired me to keep my mouth shut in a couple of instances because I also "get it."

As for myself, in addition to the above, I am proud that I have been able to start this kitchen update by myself. My Hubby and I had plans to do this at the time of his death. We even had the loan and had started negotiations with a contractor, but I canceled it because I didn't think I could do it alone.

I'm proud I drag my arse out of bed everyday, because it would be so much easier not to.

I'll have to think if I have anything else.

MEK, thanks for reminding me that I do have things I am proud of.

  17. Zona-my-baby - You are probably asleep as I write this but congrats at being first. Sleep tight my little one.

Good Morning Tina - When I taught school, the number 69 did not follow the number one. Is that the New Math? I am out of touch.

Good Morning - Bear, Goldie, Mek, SacBarb and my dearest neighbour VIG.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Zona, proud to be #1.

Tina, proud to be able to see 69 anywhere.

    Bear, just proud.

Goldie, proud to be using restraint.

VIG, proud to be successful battling the amoeba.

Carol, proud of this blog. You are our inspiration for behaving in an adult manner. Thank you for leading us in the right direction.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Good morning Tinka. We were typing at the same time. I hope your day is going well.

    ReplyDelete
  20. SacBarb - Ouch, you stepped on my feathers. I know you didn't mean to. I was trying for # 25 too but you got it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Mek - That was a great blog. I think we should be proud of our accomplishments, big and small. It seems like the PC thing to do is to be humble but we should hold our heads high.

This past week the thing I was most proud of was weighing in at Weight Watchers and being down a pound and not up a pound or two since Christmas. I am proud of the fact that I have been on Maintenance at Weight Watchers for ten years without going over my goal weight. After years of going from diet to diet I finally "got it" and that is 'not dieting but eating correctly'.

Time for Regis and breakfast. Be back later.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Great blog MEK! You do have a lot to be proud of, especially resisting the candy! lol..It's almost time for your Easter cadbury eggs! lol

As soon as I saw the title, it reminded me of this Heather Small song!

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TODAY TO MAKE YOU FEEL PROUD?

I bet a dollar to a donut that whabbear has heard it! haha

Well, I am proud of myself that I am drinking about 6 bottles of water a day!:)

I'm proud I dragged myself to the laundromat this morning to do laundry even though it SNOWED here again in SC!! lol

    Congrats on 1st Zona!

    ReplyDelete
  23. OH I just re-read the first line! lol

I don't watch Biggest Loser(but I should) so I'm assuming that's the same song that they use!?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I remember that 1st or 2nd year of Biggest Loser, they used the RuPaul song "Looking Good and Feeling Gorgeous" lol

    ReplyDelete
  25. I just realized Heather Small was the lead singer of "MPeople" who was a one hit wonder in the 90's with "Movin' on Up"! OMG! lol

  26. Good Morning Joey - Nice to see you in the nest today.

VIG - I am so sorry you are still fighting that Mexican amoeba. Hopes he leaves soon and goes back to Mexico. You don't need him keeping you from all your little children.

Thanks for the long call yesterday. See you soon.

It is a lovely day here for walking the dogs. Out I go! See you all tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete

and - I like the vanilla cream chocolate eggs - I can't stand those canbury things!! that yellow goo - ick.. but you were close.

    ReplyDelete
  30. VIG - If there was cake - I might have had to have a piece - so congrats for NOT eating it..

and - Congrats for taking a year off - what are you going to do?

Isn't it fun to pat ourselves on the back?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Tina - don't you think you are too young for the Red Hat Society??

    Zona, nighty nite

    Tina~ Am I seeing right?
    1. YOUR name
    2. 69
    3. 8:47 AM!!

MEK~Love you blog and understand that some of those "proud moments" were not always easy to accomplish.

Today I am proud I wrote a check to my oldest sister who is a "singing missionary". I do this every month.
I am proud that I ate raisin bran instead of the "Denny's" type of breakfast I wanted.lol! Dam, the two eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, and buttery toast sounded good!
I am proud to know so many owls and love them all, even Tinaho ;-)
I am proud that today I am making my Mom's delicious tortillas and burritos from scratch.

I am proud of all the owls who are trying sooo hard to fight their inner amoeba"!

    I'm off to make tortillas....

    ReplyDelete
  36. SacBarb - I am proud to know you also!!
    :-)

Glad you have started your kitchen remodel!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Tinka - what a MAJOR accomplishment

Ten years of maintenance for WW is GREAT - AMAZING, really!!

    pat yourself on the back!!!

Enjoy your walk with your fur babies.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Joey - congrats on drinking LOTS of water!!!

Right now - i wish that I had purchased that box of candy!! I'm having a massive chocolate craving....

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh hey MEK...missed you there. Thanks...I think though if there actually had of been cake in the fridge, the first choice wouldn't have been yogurt!!!!! Thank goodness for empty fridges!!!

Thanks for asking...I am hoping to work for a year in the classroom....hopefully kindergarten and hopefully someplace International. I am in need of a break from my job and am in need of an adventure, so want to combine the two!

    How's puppy today?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mary - waving howdy!! you have accomplished alot today!!

I am SO glad that I met you!!

    I need a nap!!

The puppy - well - she is sleeping right now.... looking angelic - LOL....... I swear she has the devil in her!! LOL... but how can you NOT love that little face!!
    Thanks for asking.......

    ReplyDelete
  43. MEK....I am feeling better, thanks! I am about to take my quarantined, amoeba-ed self out for a walk to the post office. Other than getting groceries, I haven't ventured far from home lately...doctors orders. The walls are closing in...and without kissing or sharing food or sneezing on someone...amoebas are hard to pass on...so outside I go with no kissing, sharing or sneezing!!!!

I saw the pictures of that sweet puppy face...there is definitely a twinkle in her eye. What a cutie! I am so glad you found each other!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks MEK! I actually LOVE water lol

It's pretty much all I drink. I do have the occasional soda, but it's rare!

    ROFLMAO@Area 51-Mary and JustLin!!

That bug goy a bitch stuff cracked me up!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hello, MEK and Tink!

Mary/MI, wanted to clarify something from yesterday. I'm on your side... I don't make any value judgment on how people spend their money... I once made the same point to my sister that you did, when she was expressing some disapproval of me betting on college football games; I said that she wouldn't be disapproving if I was spending exactly the same amount of money on some other voluntary activity, like skiing or (insert any arbitrary hobby here).

What amazes me in casinos is the amount of disposable income that people seem to have!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I LOVE all these PROUD moments today!!

    Thank you all for sharing.....

    ReplyDelete
  47. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~

(and i even got a call!)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hi MEK and thank you for your blog today. Actually, lately I have been a bit disgusted with myself for my lack of activity. Since I have been basically retired for the last year I haven't been on any kind of routine. Basically I have been a slug. Things have been very slow at the veterinary hospital, due to the economy, and I realized in all reality I won't really be working there any more. I told the manager I should probably turn in my keys. It was very emotional for me as I have worked between the 3 hospitals (all now tied in together) for over 30 years.

The day before yesterday I decided to get off my butt and do something constructive. I went outside and gardened. I realized just how lethargic I had become. I need to turn my life back into something again that is not just about me.

I am not so sure I really want to say all of this, as it sure doesn't put me in a very good light, but here goes.

    ReplyDelete
  49. mek~ they are actually 3 red hearts~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh TINA, ROTFL, YOU LITTLE HUSSY! Since you were on the phone when you got your 69, does it count as phone sex? You look absolutely stunning in your outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  51. ZONA, I can hear you snoring!

CAROL, Maybe CORNY is asking for cake, like VIG'S amoeba.

Wow GOLDIE, I hang my head in shame when I read all of your accomplishments.

MEK, You must write a screenplay about your neighborhood. You are the best pack leader of your fur people.

BARB, Good for you for starting your kitchen. That is BIG!

VIG, I hope you get the best school for you next year. You deserve it big time.

TINKA, you are an inspiration with your enthusiasm for life. And what a gift to the world through your years of teaching. Like I said before, there is nothing to surpass the value of a wonderful teacher or nurse.

BEAR, I wonder how much of it is disposable income.

Let me not forget how much enthusiasm and humor JOEY brings to the NEST. Congratulations on the water. Reminds me I need to go back to that myself.

Thank you to everyone for all the times you have inspired me. Love, Lani

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am going to do the dishes and finally go through my files and papers and clean them out. Bye

    ReplyDelete
  53. Lani, girl, don't be so hard on yourself! I have been retired over 3 years and just got "on the roll" last year. I was always thinking that "tomorrow" was just as good a time to do something. It takes a while to get out of the "work mode". I still put things off, but now I make lists. I am proud of myself every time I mark something off.
Remember, just having you here in the nest can be comforting and fun to us.
OK, Dr Phil off his podium lol

Whabear, I knew you weren't judging. I understood what you were saying. I see young couples in Vegas spending money on all kinds of things. At their age I was counting pennies to buy baby food!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Good Afternoon...JUST/LIN: Thank for giving me the QOTD!

MEK: What a great blog. You have so much to proud of in your life. Your blog makes a person think...

I am proud that I went to Arizona with only knowing one person and meeting two people I had never met before. I am so proud of my children that I raised many years as a single parent. I am proud that I finally wrote two blogs and didn't kill TINA for posting the "talky one."

LANI: I have been retired for two years and I agree with MARY and am also glad to hear from others that I am not the only "wait until tomorrow" person. I finally signed up for volunteer work just to get myself up and moving. Hey, I still haven't finished unpacking my boxes from work yet! You have worked a lot of years...so rest for awhile.

I think all of the Owls have so much to be proud of...each one!

VIG: How exciting that you may be able to teach International...what a great experience that would be for you. You would be our far away owl..but right here in our hearts.

TINA: Wake up...you are still at work. Oh and btw TINA AND ZONA: I went to breakfast at 1PM today.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh..I forgot something...I am proud that I am "thinking" about cooking dinner tonight...still in the "thinking" stage.

    ReplyDelete
  56. MEK: I guess now I can be proud that I got up and made Mr. Z lunch and then packed him a snack for later at work..eventhough I have a bad headache and just wanted to stay in bed. I'm also proud that I'm going to stay up and feed Nikki and then go for a long walk, instead of going back to bed.

I'm proud that I care so much about my friends..and that I am loyal to a fault.

I'm proud that I put the interests of my family and friends far ahead of my own.

I'm also proud that when I make a promise I keep it...even if at times it can be really hard to do.

That's all I've got MEK...you wrote a great blog today. Be proud of it!

    ReplyDelete
  57. DIANNE: I finally went back and watched the 'talky' one...and I laughed til I cried..just like I did that night. Especially at the last couple of lines.

TINA: Love the new outfit...Deedee did a great job on Eunice's VD look! :D

    ReplyDelete
  58. CPGEM: Yes, it was me that talked about Prescott..I love it there.

Maybe you could send me a pic of something else..just to see if it's the phone, or if the picture you are sending is too big for my phone to handle. I really wish I could see it!

    ReplyDelete
  59. GOLDIE: I love that you call your son your baby..and that he called you the way he did. So sweet!

SACBARB: I know exactly what you mean...

TINKA: LOL at the 'new math'..

VIG: Good for you Auntie Nort...good for you.. :)

MARY: Air express..tortillas and burritos please... ;)

LANI: I betcha you could hear me!

    JOEY: Thanks for the link!

BEAR...or scrapbooking...that's what I spend too much money on!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm proud (not) that I seem to be able to scare everyone away when I post... :D

Have a good late afternoon/evening everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  61. First let me say THANK YOU to MARY & DIANNE for your VERY KIND WORDS to me. I appreciate you.

Now, I actually started to go through my papers, and guess what now. I picked up my pet file with medical and other papers, some of which go back 35 years. Now I can't bear to throw any of them out. I get so attached to everyone and everything, I am surprised I ever left the womb.

    ReplyDelete
  62. ZONA...Wahooooo, I'm here. I keep trying to take a nap but I haven't left the computer chair yet. I am glad you finally watched the video..see how funny it was...except I wish it was you and Tina with me filming! I am proud that I didn't tackle her and get the camera!

TINA: Oh no...ZONA says Eunice has VD? I didn't know that "illness" was still around. Wonder how she got it?

It is so beautiful here..65 and sunny with no clouds. This is when we think it might be Spring but we haven't had much of our winter yet..so Mother Nature fools us every year.

    ReplyDelete
  63. LANI: I have an entire room of things I can't bear to throw out...all the closets are full...and every drawer..I think it breeds..I really do!

But I'm sentimental like you are..it's just really difficult to get rid of some things.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I just thought of the fact that I also have 30 boxes of pet ashes. Could I be anal retentive? LOL I think I am having a personality recognition breakthrough.

    ReplyDelete
  65. LANI: You make me laugh with saying "you are surprised you ever left the womb." I am like that with clothes too. My clothes need to be sorted badly....I need the room but it takes me forever because I have to try each item on and then decide if I will ever be that size again, blah, blah....you get the drift...so, I just will do it "tomorrow."

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lani........ I have been "volunteerily unemployed" for a little over five years now and i am STILL trying to figure out how to function without working and having that structured schedule -

i was in management FOREVER and can't seem to manage myself right now.

Took me forever to NOT get up before 6a.m and be dressed and ready to go nowhere......

I would feel guilty for watching tv - etc.....

i could go on - but please know - that it WILL TAKE TIME!!!

    (((HUGS)))....

and- you gardened yesterday - that is a HUGE start!!!

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Lani - you also do NOT want the low down on my WHOLE neighborhood - it is getting to be quite frightful......

    ReplyDelete
  68. DIANNE: It's 83 here...I really want some of the winter weather back.

Annnnd...I wish it was you and TINA with me filming! THAT would have been hysterical..you two were so funny together!

    ReplyDelete
  69. 30 BOXES OF PET ASHES!!! Are they all from your pets or from the vet job over the years? What in the heck are you going to do with them? Maybe you should have one large burial at sea...

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mary - RIGHT ON - there is ALWAYS tomorrow!!!
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks ZONA. Maybe we could start a group...maybe called..... Anal Retentive Sentimentalists Anonymous. :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. ZONA - i got FOAD!!

    congrats on 100

Now - that is something to be PROUD of today!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. ZONA: Don't worry...the ground hot saw his shadow so you will be getting 6 more weeks of winter. I imagine CAROL AND MO are just thrilled about this...

    ReplyDelete
  74. OMG! MEK...I'm sooo proud of myself..I got 100! LOL! Beeboppin' away!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  75. ZONA: In case you notice my last post the ground "hot" is probably related to the ground "hog."

    ReplyDelete
  76. LANI: There ya go!! :D

DIANNE: Rain is coming this weekend..but it's a warm rain.. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Dianne, A few are hospital pets. All have been hand me downs or strays. I told my daughter to take us all and flush us! It is an easier way to be buried at sea. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Zona - I will go with the "breeding" closets - that is perfect!!! I knew you could find a whole list of things to be proud of today!!!

Dianne - Yes, you flew to AZ - i am SO glad you did.....

i was JUST trying to clear out some clothes this afternoon - didn't get very far!!!

    There IS ALWAYS TOMORROW!!!

    Love it!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. DIANNE: I wasn't going to say a word...honest. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Lani - are they your pets - or pets that people never picked up?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Dianne - I like "ground hot" day!!
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  82. ZOna - yes, the rain is supposed to come this weekend - but tomorrow will be 82 or so!!!
    gotta love it......

    ReplyDelete
  83. MEK: That might be a good name for Grouind Hog Day in Arizona. Maybe I have invented a new holiday and I will get rich with my idea!! Now, how do I go about starting that rich scheme?

  84. Rain is to arrive at the end of the week here in the Bay Area.

Well, we can see how disciplined I am, as I am here blogging again and my pet file is still sitting on the table. I guess avoidance is my other problem.

I might need psychiatric drugs by the end of this session.

    ReplyDelete
  85. And----maybe some day I will learn how to spell and type! Damn!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Actually we were very lucky in that we didn't have a problem with clients not picking up, but rather a lot who brought in sick strays that we couldn't bear to PTS or call the Humane Society. I brought some home and gave fluids etc as long as they were comfortable and eating and enthusiastic. Each time I thought I wouldn't get that attached, but guess what!

And it took me this long to realize I am anal retentive. You have to get up pretty early to put anything past me. LOL

  87. CAROL: I wanted to comment on the blog yesterday. I think you know how much I like football so I loved the Super Bowl. I like to watch all the shows leading up to the game too. It was fun reading through your eyes the day for you watching the game.

I don't know what Mr D and I are going to do with Sunday afternoons now with football over. We love our lazy day of reading the paper, watching football, napping, etc. It is always some withdrawal this time of the year.

    My new theme song!

  90. Zona - Congrats on 100. I hope you had a good sleep.

I just got home from the Vet. I was "stocking up" on food and meds. I can see why some people choose not to have dogs, if they make their decision on cost. However, to me and I know to most of the owls they are SO worth it.

Time for dinner. Take care everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Shirley - Does 125 count as a #25? Just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Tina - Didn't you already get 69 today? You are insatiable. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  93. Congrats on first Zona!

Hey Mek, Great Blog! It is all about the little things. You have done some awesome things to be proud of!

I walked for an hour and ten minutes at the Y tonight and have gotten back on track with my healthy choices.

Biggest Loser was really good last night. I was rooting for the Dad and son. I was really mad at that one woman who didn't care at all. I hope they give Carla a chance to be on a single Biggest Loser to help her continue her weight loss journey. It is so hard, but even harder when the saboteurs come out!

I am not so proud that I haven't been around much lately. Since the outage it has been hectic and I have tried to get on track with things. The evenings fly by and I am going to sleep early early early!

I go to Florida on Saturday and I can't WAIT! wooo hoo!! Then a trip to Houston in the middle of the week. It is going to be fun. I get to stop and see my lovely daughter on the way too. I am so excited!! :)

I still haven't put the pics up of the ice storm but I haven't forgotten.

Going to read comments. Then in 9 minutes it is Idol..woo hoo!

    I have 11,345 steps today!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Tink: That is so good about Weight Watchers. Way to go!

Carol: The Dunkin Donuts brawl would have been funny. Cat Fight at the Donut Hole! haha..just kidding, good thing you held your temper. :) Way to go on owning your own business. That is definitely the American Dream!

Goldie: Good job on joining curves!

    ReplyDelete
  95. 130 just for the heck of it..gotta go and watch Idol..hugs all

  96. Tinka, Mr Mary took our Roxy to the Vet. today for annual check-up. They drew blood, clipped nails, gave meds for skin irritation, vaccination & heart worm check.Total $116. Thank goodness it is only once a year.

Tina, it is too weird seeing you in this time frame. Are you naughty on days like you are on nights?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Bebbi, thanks for reminding me on AI!

    ReplyDelete
  98. I am taking a paperwork break. I am laughing before I even read the comments, just looking at the avatars.

TINA, I see you sitting at your desk wearing this outfit, feeling just oh so sexy.

DIANNE, You look oh so cool.

MARY, Your owl looks like he has ingested one too many recreational drugs. :)

A BIG THANK YOU MEK, I appreciate your words. (((HUGS))) back to you.

MARY, I will join you in your new theme song.

TINK, I'll bet the staff at your veterinary hospital loves seeing you.

    ReplyDelete
  99. MARY , Great pet family for the annuals.

BEBBI, Congratulations as always for your perseverance.

I am going back to paperwork.

    ReplyDelete
  100. ZonaBaby Congrats on being first! If Tina got a 69 and you were the only other one there....well, just sayin'. You might want to keep your eye on her ;)

Tina I love your new heart-shaped cupie doll lips. No wonder you're getting so many 69's!

Slani You are way too hard on yourself. You are the nicest and kindest person I know (except in regards to Hannity or Limbaugh). :) There are some things that I am sentimental about but not EVERYTHING. I find if I hold on to too much of the past, it prevents me from having a present and a future.

MEK This was an excellent blog today. It is so easy to find fault and short comings with oneself. There are all sorts of things I wish I did better. However there is a lot I am proud of, too.

Today, I am proud of the fact that the accountant I met with was, once again, very happy with how prepared and organized I was.

I'm not proud of the fact that I have been meaning to vacuuming for several days now and STILL NOT DONE IT.

I'm proud of the fact that I survived my first husband and protected my children. I'm proud that I raised the children to be good, kind-hearted people. I'm proud that my son is such a good and loving Daddy.

I'm proud that I once won funding for my organization by giving a presentation to a committee at the State's capitol. About a dozen other organizations had been competing for the same funds.

I'm proud that I gave a good home to dozens of feral kittens.

I'm proud that I am a very truthful and trustworthy person.

  101. Mary and Lani - Yes, Vet bills can surely add up to a lot but aren't they worth it? I couldn't live without my dogs and cat.

Bebbi - Thank you. You must be proud of your weight loss too. You have done great.

Time for dinner. See you later.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Most of my exercise today came from marching on the blog. I wonder how many calories I burned marching today.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Tink & Lani: Thanks!

    Idol was very dramatic. Wow.

  104. ZONA...congratz on 1st. Thanks for the offer to visit, wish I could. It is -10 with the wind chill and snow, snow, snow.

DIANNErubbingitinINDENVER...thanks for the reminder about 6 more weeks of winter...

MEK...you have a lot to be proud of and I am glad you recognize it. Beautiful, insightful blog. I know you "get it"

CAROL...hope Corny is gone for good. Maybe you should have had the podiatrist cremate it, then you could have LANI add it to her pet ash collection.

TINKA...I hope you are proud of the education you gace so many little ones and surely helped mold them into productive and good citizens of the universe.

    What am I proud of?
    - I made it to work in only 1 hour and 20 minutes this morning for a 12 mile and normal 17 minute ride

    - All the weight I have gained in the past 2 years - - NOT

    - For the current economic state I find myself in - - NOT

    - For the lack of energy, desire or motivation to change things even if I could - - NOT

I AM proud to be a member of the NEST...amongst so many wonderful friends

    ReplyDelete
  105. IN case you are wondering...our forecasted light flurries over last night to this morning turned into about 6 inches. The forecasted stoppage at about noon is still not happening and there is another lake effect snow advisory in effect until 4 AM. I guess it will be another hellish ride into work tomorrow.

SOOOOO proud to be in SnowHiO

    ReplyDelete
  106. Thank you for your kind words SLIN.

Yes, you a truthful and trustworthy friend.

TINK, I admire you for your percerverence, when I know at times you are hurting from arthritis, or having a bit of a hard time with some sentimental thoughts. You always approach life with such zest.

  134. This exercise was a little hard to do, because I have been really down on myself lately.

So this is what I came up with....

    1. Our house income has been cut by more then 50% and we have managed to stay afloat without using credit cards or borrowing money. Also all bills are being paid on time.

    2. Deaths and unemployment has put a test to our marriage and we are still passing. :)

    3. That I keep pushing myself to be a better teacher.

    4. That I have healthy children that pull at my heart strings like you wouldn't believe.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Thank you so much MEK for this great blog today, it was a good exercise to keep me in a positive mind.
