haiku

this is how it started, simple words
4 all of u, trying to find my way
in the internet world, seeing if any
would respond, this way of writing
seemed easier 4 me, so i continued
on, learning and growing

i have come so far, made so many
friends, with these simple words
it seems everyone knew me, 2 my
surprise, some understood the meaning

at times i was cryptic, just to see who
would get it, as 4 me i was trying to
find the balance, 2 learn who these
strange ppl were, as the faces were
hidden, so the words were my balance

each day, i came to c who was among
the few, in hopes the words showed
who i am, what i was looking 4 when
i first began, i am not sure, i guess
everything has a beginning, and my
words were my beginning, i will say
this i was def searching for something
as we don't seek if we don't need

i had forgotten this way of writing, of
forming my words, but it seems many
did not, as this way of writing is poetry
to some, as turtle said "haiku" her memory
of my words so vivid, using her memory
i formed this blog, with the words
i so often used

it is 2 b assumed, as i wrote my words
u all wondered about me as well, as i
was just a pseudo "cpgem8" just as
cryptic as my words, many must have
wondered, is she real? that thought
never occurred to me, as i was me
real and true

time has a way of defining things, it
brings closure to guessing, there is no
more guessing, we are all real, we have
faces, and are words are what brings us
together, never stop the words 4 we
need them, it is our touch

happy blue

smiles and happiness always

  3. Morning Glories!

Carol I love seeing your old style on the blog this morning! Yes you are right I can remember reading the other blog and I always knew it was you by how you posted your words. I did not need to see the name attached.

I really get the section about people wondering if you were real. It never occured to me when I started blogging that people would pretend to be someone other than they were. How naive I used to be.

Thank you for the flash back this morning!

  4. Yay Zona is here.

I got lucky I just rolled out of bed grabbed a cup of Joe and hit the computer! Was surprised as I slept in a bit.

  5. Iteach from area 51: I really am sad to read about Jessica. People just don't stop to think how dangerous farm equipment can be. I had an Uncle who died about 8 years ago when his tractor rolled over on top of him. They are no diffrent than a car and can be deadly weapons.

I keep the dogs in when they hay our field as I do not want them to escape or chase the equipment. Especially when they are cutting those mowers are deadly.

  6. CAROL: I loved your blog today. I remember looking for your posts everyday over where we all used to meet..I just knew that all was right with the world when I saw your wishes for smiles, happiness and of course.."Happy Blue for all who need it". I asked for that Happy Blue..and dang if it didn't help me feel better! I so associated the Haiku style of writing with you, that if someone else posted for you because your computer wasn't working, I got very confused..it just wasn't the same.

You made me smile and feel all mushy inside today CAROL..thank you!

Well I see begging not going to get me the number one spot around here! I have a million things to do today...I'll probably have an attack of vertigo and the whole day will be a wash....but I am thinking if I get started and get out early I can fool it......
    Have a marvelous day all.....

Btw....I don't want to spill any beans or anything...but our Tina and Mr. Tina has been invited to the The Cathedral of the Madeleine Bishop’s Dinner. There will be a solemn Mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption by invitation only, in the Cathedral of the Madeleine concelebrated by Bishop Emeritus of Sacramento William K. Weigand, Archbishop of San Francisco George Niederauer, and Cardinal William Joseph Levada. The Bishop’s Dinner will follow that evening.

The Levada dude is doing the job vacated by the current Pope...which mean...BAM!! Rome! Vatican City!

The Cathedral of the Madeleine is celebrating its centennial year 2009, and is preparing for the historic and spiritual milestone in August. From Aug. 9 through Aug. 16, a line-up of events have been planned.

And.... Tina's children have been asked to walk in the processional...

This is exciting even for me and I am not a religious person....can you imagine Tina's excitement?

She will probably kill me for posting all this but...she has killed me before....and I lived to tell the tale!!

  19. Everyone's awake! Is everyone healthy! Carol, I never had the honor of seeing your 'old' style of writing because I'm new-ish. But I like it. I feel like it should be set to music.

From A51; Wasp nests are easy to knock down. Just spray 'em with hornet/wasp killer, wait about an hour and poke it with a stick till it falls.

I actually fell asleep in the garage last night. I was watching Boron. No. Bruno. That guy has a quirky sense of humor that I sometimes don't get. That, and the version I was watching was Russian with German subtitles underneath Russian subtitles and an English soundtrack laid over top. As far as I know, I was unmolested by wasps, june bugs and cake.

    Have a great day, everyone!

  20. Hey Whab; is that earth-sized dot on Jupiter new?

I watched a Hubble special a few nights ago and was wishing you were with me to explain some of it.

  21. Tina! Congrats, I think! I am also not religious but DeeDee's beans sound like a great honor.

My daughter got sucked in by some religious "cult" called G12. Based in Columbia. As in cocaine. Their mandate is that anyone who is not fully committed to their doctrine is not a true Christian. This includes Catholics. I realized her best friend (the G12 minister's daughter) is a lesbian a few years ago (a mortal sin), but my daughter hasn't figured it out and I'm keeping quiet. Seeing as my 18 year-old daughter has never been on a date or even kissed a boy, I suspect she may learn a thing or two about herself in the coming years.

Anyhoo, Tina. I think that to be recognized in such a fashion demonstrates dedication and a true sense of self. You and your family should be proud.

  25. Good day everyone.
Carol. I have always loved reading your blogs and comments. You have been like a special neighbor to me. Someone whom I don't necessarily have to see, but know she is always there to say all the right things at just the right time. I thank you for that. I enjoy the relaxed mood here much better than "other place", sorry whabby :) the devil made me say it lol!!

Zona, I have the root canal Thurs.
I just want it out of the way!

This morning I could here our Lab barking up a storm. I huge already dead tree suddenly fell. It landed on one of her houses (we call it her condo),tore down my cloths line and crumbled her fenced-in pen. We keep that for when she is in heat. She was viably shaken but not hurt. Mr Mary is not happy about the new project!

  28. Whabby~ I'm not sure if I remember the R-Ass blog~ :)~

But Carol~ I sure do remember your writing....it stood out...I always knew who was writing and I thought "she" was so creative! Then someone else tried doing the same thing....I knew the diffence tho~

DeeDee~ I'm not going to bother killing you....you won't die! What I will do is mention while I'm there that you want to become Catholic and would like to make a sizable contribution to the Church! Let's see which one of the "dudes" shows up on ur doorstep~ :D

EBJ, Bonacci, and Mary~ Thanks....the hubby and I are excited....now the kids....not so much...they are normal teenage kids...my oldest is already trying to figure out how to get out of it! I laughed! I won't let him out of this.....no way, no how!!!

Di~ thanks so much for keeping the tornados at bay while I was there! I just don't like those things!!~ Be safe~

  29. Holy Crap, Mary! It sounds like the sky is falling! Pls be careful.

Whab, it is so characteristic of you to speak your mind and it's one of the things I adore about you.

I didn't hang out long at the other place. When I first went there, it was like the nest. Everyone on friendly terms and everyone knew everyone else. It couldn't and didn't last.

I admit to peeking in once in a great while. Just to see who's still around. I feel very disconnected there. Maybe a little manipulated ("Watch This!", "Go Here!"). I hold no ill will towards anyone associated with that site. I hope the careers that are meant to be advanced are indeed, advanced. I just like living in the nest better than La-La-Land.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks Bon! I am rather outspoken about certain things.

One of them is this. Tina, I am the first to offer congratulations to you and the family on being recognized in this way by your church! It's something to be proud of.

But, would you please do me and K-girl and VIG and Joey a small favor at the dinner? Please express our frustration with high-ranking members of the church, such as the Bishop of San Francisco, who claim to be Christians while actively proclaiming that we are morally disordered human beings who deserve to be actively discriminated against in the name of God. And then put their money where their mouth is by publically campaigning to deny us basic human dignities like the right to marry who we love.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

  31. Hello Everyone...CAROL: I don't remember you on the previous blog but maybe I hadn't come on it yet.

EBJ, SACBARB AND JUST/LIN: Well, what did you think of Bachelorette last night and who do you think she will pick? I thought it was a good show and I felt bad for Jake...I love him. I still don't like Jason and Molly so much. You would have thought she might be engaged with all the marriage talk and why hasn't one of them moved to the other's state yet.

DEEDEE: You need to squeeze those cheeks tomorrow so you can be number 1 on the blog!

TINA: Congratulations to you and your family. What a great honor for your children to be asked to be in the procession. Hopefully, some day the kids will look back and realize it. You had better start practicing your words for the dinner...pretend it is lent!! We will help you :)

We had very scary storms and tornado warnings last night. There never was a tornado but the damage is terrible. Huge trees ripped out of the ground, etc. A news guy said he has been through hurricanes and this felt worse. My brothers end of town got the worse of the whole thing and MRD said we had bad hail and rain. I am at my daughters for a couple of days and for once this end of town just got tons of rain. This whole neighborhood is in the proc4ess of getting their new roof, etc., installed from the tornado that last time TINA left town.

Well, we are off to the move. Have a good day.

  32. and Bear~ THAT is why I didn't mention the whole thing myself~ I adore Arch Bishop Niederauer...my hubby and I have known him for years.....and honey....it won't be the time or place to get into something like that~ :D

on a side note....one time we were leaving the Cathedral and saw the Bishop coming into the church....my twins got all excited and said, "Mom! Is that the Pope?" George got a kick outta that~

Di~ If I had anything to do with the tornados....you bet they'd be going on while we are together, not after I leave~ ijs~ :D

Jodi- Friday= what time and where????

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well, it's kind of quiet here today and the can's been opened, so I'm letting the worms out.

I am not a particularly religious person, but I recognize everyone's right to practice any religion they choose. I am, for some reason, more curious than is good for me. I tend to look at religioius texts as historical documents.

There is an account of 10 plagues (don't ask me where; I said I was curious, not intelligent). One of the plagues involves frogs I think. Raining frogs. Or some similar life form. The point is, it's not something you expect to see.

The reason for the plagues is that people were being punished. There is a sound scientific explanation for it to rain frogs, fish, etc., but I don't think people living in the year 1 (or thereabouts) knew this.

Now if I were in charge and a bunch of people pissed me off, I would do something that couldn't possibly be explained. Also, frogs seem to be peaceful creatures. I would think it would hurt them more, landing at terminal velocity atop your head, than it would hurt you to feel the splat. No, if I were angry and wanted the world to know it, I'd be hurling crocodiles and elephants. You just can't explain those away. So my question is, why frogs or some other small creature? Do they have another meaning?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm not done yet. What's the deal with, "I'll pray for you"? I know that it's normally said with sincerity and compassion, but I myself have had that phrase directed at me in an insulting manner on many occasions. In fact, if everyone who said that to me actually DID pray for me, I'd be a superstar in Heaven. Everyone would know me and nothing bad would ever happen to me.

I know this is an insult masked by divine compassion because my sister says it to me all the time. My sister can't stand me. I annoy the hell out of her. I don't try; it just happens. The point is, she says this to me and I know she's insulting me. She knows she's insulting me. So why not just chuck a real insult? Why pretend you're being nice? Is this a rule in the bible somewhere?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Those are meant to be actual questions that I have always wondered about. My intent is not to question anyone's beliefs (or basis thereof), but to understand from a historical, scientific and theological point of view.

My next question is about Noah's Ark and whether that storm might have been like Katrina or something, but I'll ask that for real another time.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm just thankful I wasn't with Noah at that time.

I so don't like water another fear of mine. That is why I like Illinois no oceans.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tina: It's totally OK for DeeDee to have brought it up, and you should feel proud of it!

I've done a little homework on Bishop Niederauer since reading your comment, and you're absolutely right... there's a lot to respect and admire about this man. He even has a secular Ph.D. in English lit, a bit of a rarity in ecclesiastical circles.

I sure wish I could meet him, though, and point out the flaw in his rationale for why he supported Prop 8:

“Members of churches who supported Proposition 8 sincerely believe that defining marriage as only between a man and a woman is one such issue,” Archbishop Niederauer said. “They see marriage and the family as the basic building blocks of human society, existing before government and not created by it. Marriage is for us the ideal relationship between a man and woman, in which, through their unique sexual complementarity, the spouses offer themselves to God as co-creators of new human persons, a father and mother giving them life and enabling them to thrive in the family setting.”

The archbishop emphasized that Proposition 8 was not an attack on any group or an attempt to deprive others of their civil rights, noting that domestic partnerships provide the same rights and benefits as married couples."

At first glance, that seems so logical and straightforward and non offensive. I completely agree with the Bishop: It is a wonderful thing that the institution of marriage yields families and children via expressions of traditional "tried-and-true" sexuality!

But here's the rub. Not a single piece of that goodness and positivity is threatened, compromised, influenced, degraded, or denigrated in any way by my being married to Jim!

And suppose there actually was some concrete way in which less traditional marriages threatened the more traditional, child-producing ones. If so, all kinds of nontraditional marriage would contribute to that threat. To reduce it, all kinds of non-traditional marriages would have to be targeted for non-recognition, including marriages between infertile heterosexuals or between heterosexuals who choose not to have children.

But they aren't being targeted for non-recognition; Only marriages between same-sex couples are. And that fact exposes the sad truth: that the basis for the Church's efforts to deny state recognition of my marriage was an anti-gay animus, and Proposition 8 WAS an attack on a particular group.

    ReplyDelete
  39. iteach; Yeah. No oceans in IL. Just that lil' ol' pond called Lake Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Whab, I have to bring this us because you have done this to me so many times in the past few days...

There is an art to your writing whereby you cause the reader to form thoughts, objections or rationales. As soon as I realize I've formed whichever thought/opinion, you address it and answer any questions I had before I realized I had them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees this. It's like you know what we're going to be thinking as you're writing.

    ReplyDelete
  41. So are you saying Whabby is a mind reader?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Goodnight all, that 69 made me sleepy. Have a good one. Sweet dreams.

    I am watchin
Tomorrow I will be going to another funeral. My kids Aunt from my previous marriage passed away from cancer. It totally took over her body. She buried her husband a few months ago. He had dementia an complications from many years of smoking & drinking. They were in their early 60s. They both had a lot of stress in their lives.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am watching GW! I just noticed my omission lol!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Now let me tell you how people in my world see this gay marriage issue. First, and with all due respect, separation of church and state is one of the building blocks of our government. Any religious group should respectfully, keep its nose out of government. Anyone who doesn't see the reasoning for this should read up on the Jacobite uprisings of 1715 and 1745. During that time, being Catholic could get you killed.

With separation of church & state in mind, people like me figure, you want to be gay? Be gay. You want to get married? Get married. None of our business. So we stay out of it and feel very noble for not persecuting gays. But we're wrong. Our silent support isn't heard.

I now realize that if an issue is at hand that doesn't bother me, I should cast a vote that says so. Gay marriage doesn't bother me, so it's my duty to let my representatives know that. I think what made me realize this was when Ant lost his partner. So enough with the laid-back, hang loose SoCal attitude.

I will continue to cast votes for comedic or ridiculous Presidential candidates until I see one I believe. But I have started to take more interest in issues that "don't bother me". My votes will be, "Go for it, dude".

  97. iteach, I was scuba diving in some underwater caves 2 years ago. I'd done it before, but then I realized if my equipment failed, I couldn't be sure I'd be able to surface. Even knowing I had a portable O2 canister didn't help. Now I stay out of caves and don't go deeper than 100 ft.

    ReplyDelete
  98. She is farming.. but I think she meant Howard Stern.. or Howard the duck???

    ReplyDelete
  99. Tina, farmtown on Facebook tonight is totally messed up. The avators can't see each other.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Bonacci..

Kudos for going down that far.. I swim in the baby pool.. its just safer that way.. if I go under, and I can't go really far..

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  101. Shoot, I don't have to worry about caves, because I won't even let my toes get wet.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I have never been in a cave.. and have no intention of going into one anytime soon.. Well unless its the batcave, then I might, just to meet batman.. :O)

  106. Carol, I'm with you in the baby pool. I've seen my last underwater cave.

I still like caves above ground. Mostly because bat guano is a key ingredient for some fun stuff that goes BOOM!

  111. Oh, FYI everyone.... I happened upon a hack today for MS. It looks like it's meant to allow people to become your friends without your permission.

It's been up for about 3 hours but nobody seems to be interested so far.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Carol, is there a banana involved in this decadent delight of yours? And if so, what exactly, are you doing with it? Maybe I don't want to know that.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Bonacci..

A Banana Split is a term for a Banana Split in half with ice cream (flavor of your liking) on it, and chocolate syrup, and perhaps other goodies as well. It is then topped with whipped cream.. and of course one lone cherry..

And there you have it a Banana Split..

    :O)
