Lost on the Web..

This is not very original, its actually stupid, but I have to ask myself. WTF was I doing on You Tube for 2hrs. If I try to think back, I can't even remember what vids I was watching. I got totally lost and did not even realize how much time had gone by. Which is why this blog is not very original, and really is about nothing. Just think of it as a Seinfeld episode, which we all know his episode's were about nothing, but they were always about something, make sense?

So this blog is really about nothing, yet it is about something, getting lost on the internet, and forgetting about the sights and sounds around me, cause I completely zoned out. I wonder do other people get lost on the internet for hours, well wait, there is something out there called "Farmville" and I have noticed many people with, hoes, pitchforks, cherries, berries, and lots of grass, and I have also noticed many people go missing for hours, cause they have to "Farm". So yes, I would say many get lost on the internet. Whether it is to "Farm" watch "Vids" or anything else that you might fancy, we all get lost.

Just very glad at some point we reemerge and remember we are breathing!

  8. Scirishy, just read your post in area 51...making me cry. Bringing back memories of when I had to make arrangement's for my grandson. He was stillborn. Sadest day of my life. I would have hugged you, too! I still wonder what he would be like today. :o(

  9. Morning Glories!

Yay Birdee Butt got first! I was afraid that Tina used you for Eunice's hat!

Carol it is called pure escapism. Sometimes we just need to get away from everything. I have been doing that for the last few days with the farming. No phone calls, no crisis, etc.....

There are days when I just don't have the energy to interact with or for anyone and I read or go to the internet for diversion. It is ok really!

Welllll except I do need to get some chores done, but I justify that with saying they will be there tomorrow. Somehow dishes and laundry, floors, tubs and toilets are always there tomorrow. sigh

  10. Birdee I am going to ask....Mens boxers or Men boxers?

    Mo Happy Holidays!

Scrishy your post made me teary but reminded me that there are people who do work we never think about but help hold things together.

Just/Lin I hope your mouth is feeling much better today!

  11. Hi Birdee...nice to meet you.

I bought my first computer in 1998, it helped me get through a very tough time in my life. I surfed the net, went into the cyber world, it was all new and exciting to me. Met a wonderful woman on ICQ that had the same medical problem that I have and we created such a wonderful friendship. She lived in Arkansas. Cindy passed away about two years after our friendship was created from her heart condition. We were both Irish and shared our Celtic music and when her son called to tell me she had gone to heaven, I asked him to play a few Celtic songs at her wake. I felt as if I was there. Her daughter called me to tell me the birth of what would of been Cindy's first grandchild. Her daughter named her baby girl after her Mom. Such a warm feeling just came over me sharing about her. I live alone and my computer is my best friend some nights. Well, I have a son that moves in and then moves out but most of the time, I am here alone.

I have not entered into the farm world on Facebook but I am pretty good at playing Zuma and Cubic.

I get lost in things like Randy Pauch lecture when he was dieing of cancer and he talked about Life. Giving someone a different view of things interest me. As you have heard me say to Whabby, I enjoy his intelligence for he kicks my brain into gear of thought. Sometimes we do not always agree but I hold a very high opinion of him. (hope I did not embarrass you Bear) I love thought provoked stimulation of the brain and sometimes I like simple things in life of who made it 1st here. Tina-in-ut did not set her alarm today, now did she???

I usually step away from the computer when I have laughed so hard my sides hurt and then I know I need to take a break.

As I type, I must shut this down for I need to go get those hi-lites in my hair to cover those little gray hairs that surface thoughout my head. It is not true blondes have more fun either, I use to have auburn hair (alot of red hi-lites) and now I have alot of blonde hi-lites. I mean alot!!

    Have a great day everyone~~

Good morning to BIRDEE and LYNN and GLORIA!

BIRDEE...you were watching videos of Barbara Boxer? I didn't think she was really that interesting!!

    GLORIA...I have white highlights!

CAROL...I have been known to get totally lost in the computer. When I was unemployed certain blogs and people made my days and nights bearable. I could cry and no one would actually see or hear it and then in a few clicks of the mouse, I could laugh my ass off. It was a savior. And even though some of the people I "met" have caused me pain, the majority have become real friends.

  17. Gloria: I read your story and was touched by your friendship. I feel so lucky with the connection I have made with the people on this blog and honored that I have gotten to meet some of them. Certainly enriched my life and pushed me out of my comfort zone!

Mo read your post about Joe Wilson. Why does this not surprise me? Shaking my head in disgust.

Morning Carol glad you can help your friend through this trying time.

Shhhhh I need to go farm.

  18. SHIRLEY...I'm craving some pancakes with warm maple syrup and some bacon...can ya help a ho out??

    ReplyDelete
  19. Birdee Congrats on being the early bird today. I'm so glad that wasn't you sitting on Eunice's head yesterday. Thank you for the pic comment, btw. :)

Gloria That is so great that you were able to form such a great friendship with someone you met via the internet. It's important to have someone to talk to that really "gets it".

MO Now you made me crave pancakes and bacon. Thanks alot!

Carol I think we all get lost on the internet from time to time. Besides, escapism has been around forever, I think, and it's okay to give your mind a break from the worries of the day, as long as it doesn't keep you from living your life, of course. Some people enjoy some mindless TV, some get lost in a good book, some have hobbies, and some take a break with some mindless pretend farming. :)

  20. Birdee~ congrats on first~ I'm glad ur here.....so many were thinking I scalped you~

Carol~ I love/need to escape...I used to read so much....i NEEDED to read...just to clear my mind....then the computer started to take some of my reading time. I never in my life thought I'd meet people on the computer. That's an extra bonus. I can understand you getting lost on youtube......one thing leads to another~

Gloria~ That's fantastic that your friend's children kept in touch with you~

    LynnD~ glad ur farming~

Mo~ ur kerplunk made me laugh~

    J/L~ pancakes, bacon AND eggs~

  21. Mo,
I understand when you say you were hurt with some of your experience of the internet. I had to bail on a blog because I got caught up on issues. I know not all people think the same as me, I will be the first one to raise my hand if I have offended someone and I realize I was wrong. Oh, that Irish father of mine. "Own up to your own girl", he would say. We all go through our little world on the internet and you pray that all people will accept you. Well, some times that does not work out that way. I found that some people can be down right nasty. You may hear me talk about my dad or my mom along the way, my guiding lights in my life and I am thankful for what they gave me. They gave me some form of intelligence to walk away when I find a situation that is hurting me. When you feel your blood pressure going up over a comment being made and you have no control over it to be stopped, you walk away.

I have a wicked sense of humor, was the clown at work and with my children at times. Sometimes, I probably embarrassed them but now that they are grown, all I hear them talk about. Remember the song Beep, Beep...couple of verses..
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep
    While riding in my Cadillac
    What to my surprise
A little Nash Rambler was following me
    About one third my size
The guy musta wanted to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

I pushed my foot down to the floor
To give the guy the shake
But the little Nash Rambler stayed right behind
He still had on his brake
He musta thought his car had more guts
As he kept on tooting his horn (beep beep)
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn
    Beep beep beep beep
His horn went beep beep beep

Well....I was singing that song with my kids in the car and I was beeping my horn along the way.....the horn got stuck and I did not know how to stop it. So for about 3 miles, I was beep, beep and beeping down the road until I got home. My kids still talk about.

Geez, I am all over the place here...that happens when you get older too. Short term memory goes to hexx. It is awful!! Walk upstairs, get to the top of the stairs and then I say, why am I here. Go back downstairs and then I realize, I needed a roll of tiolet paper for the downstairs bathroom.

So we have gone from the internet, to nasty people, to beep beep and tiolet paper all in one comment section. As I sit here laughing, I hope others find humor in this write up.

I must go mow my lawn now...I have a riding mower so it is not hard for me to do.

    Again, have a great day!!!

  22. Just read all the comments! Gloria, thank you for the kind words! And Carol, I've certainly had my share of getting lost on the net... much to Jim's irritation! Not only all the social networking here and in Rossland, but I love just thinking of something that interests me and then researching it on the net!

Like, just recently, I've been reading up on Parley Pratt, one of the 12 original founders of the Mormon church. Absolutely fascinating!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gloria I remember that song! Haven't thought of it in years. Thanks for the smiles. :)

Tina I was thinking about a pancake because I might actually be able to chew it! Sore gums, you know. Anyway, I ended up getting some wonton soup instead and I was even able to eat the pork wontons! Woo hoo!

  25. Maureen I guess it's a little late for breakfast now. I don't have any pancakes anyway, just a half eaten waffle and some bacon grease I could heat up to pour over it...if you're interested. Let me know.

  27. There are times that I spend hours on the computer. The last couple of months it has distracted me when I come home from being with mum. It isn't really her that I need the distraction from, but her disease.

Without my computer I would not have found all of you. I wish some day we could all meet in a coffee shop somewhere and just talk and talk and talk.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Shirley I'll pass on the pancake and bacon grease, thank you. However, I'd love to meet with you and the other owls for coffee sometime. Wouldn't that be fun? You'd probably bring a Super Soaker. LOL

  29. Good evening everyone!

Tonight I ate Chinese with my grandpa. It turned out to be Homecoming Night for the town next to me. We saw about six couples that were there all dressed up. It was so cute.

Then we saw about five girls all dressed up eating by themselves. They were going to Homecoming as a group. Well, old fashion gramps thought that was wrong, but I thought it was great.

I wish I could have done that my sophmore and senior year. Those dates were duds and not fun. My junior year was totally fun we were just best pals.

  30. Lord I have been on my knees more than Crackwhore Carol today!

My fingers are bloody from picking cabbage and peas! But damn I am so cute in overalls. It's becoming a sickness I tell you!

  31. I have to tell you all that Mr. Lynn D was dissing our farming today!

He says the game is totally bogus. We should have to start out with a loan to get the first farm and the seed for the first years crop and then work our way out of debt for it to resemble any kind of farming.

He would also progam in droughts, blights, bugs and storms, oh and let's not forget frost. Can you tell he was raised on freaking farms?

I personally would do away with the pine trees. What is their freaking purpose? I would program them to be cut down for lumber!

I never thought I would celebrate buying an outhouse and scarecrow but I did today! I am aiming for level 15 so I can upgrade my lot. Have the money but the bastards are making me wait until I level up! Can you tell this pissed me off?

Am I way over thinking this? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi everyone! I got back from working our VFW steak dinner. We had a great turnout. I had to wait around to count and document the monies.
Mr Mary was our dishwasher, and my BIL was the cook. Mr Mary has the neatest dish pan hands lol!!

    Hey Birdeeeee! Congrats on 1-11!!

Carol. I used to get lost trying to feed my "hatchlings" in Face book until I got addicted to farming! I think it is great to be able to "escape". It used to be all we could escape to was "soaps".
I have gotten VERY lost in some of Whabby'y blogs lol!! Keep them coming Whabby :)
