  1. Morning Glories!

Carol watched the full video and Horio is a hero. I was teary eyed watching him rescue that child. You could see the adrenalin rushing through his face but he did not panic. He just did what he had to do to make sure the boy was safe and still breathing. So protective when he laid him down.

There are still people who value all and would not think twice about saving someone if they could. This is my America. The one I am proud of. American courage and selflessness in action.

  2. Carol, I rarely make it out to the NY/NJ area. I can only imagine the pride you all have over the good living amongst you. How unfortunate that many of those brave souls didn't live to see it.

  3. Hello LynnD! I was unable to see the vid. Just an empty screen. I probably need to reboot, as this laptop has been on forever, but then I'll lose all the work-in-progress.

  4. Good Morning Bon! I had to go to the youtube longer version. The short one would no play for me either.

  5. Morning!

    Congrats on first Lynndeeee!

Congrats to DeeDee on guessing the dessert! I really thought that "Tartufo" was a made up word and there was going to be a punch line something like "Tart Fo the Ho"

  6. Good Morning Everyone

CAROL: I saw this on the news last night..it's just wonderful that that this man was willing to risk his life to save another.

When I was living in California there was a story about a man who witnessed a car accident and immediately pulled over to help. There were three women in the car, one was pregnant. He was afraid there might be a fire, so he started getting the women to safety. He rescued the pregnant women first..then came back for the other two. A few weeks later he was sued by one of the women because, she said, he caused her emotional distress and endangered her life by not rescuing her first. I can't remember what happened in the case...but when he was asked if he would ever stop and help again..he turned away without answering. Although I understood what he must have been feeling, this just made me so sad.

It always gives me hope for our world when someone helps another without thinking of themselves first.

    LYNND: Congrats on FIRST!

BONACHICHI: I don't know how long you've lived in CA..but do you remember the case I mentioned above? I tried to Google it to find out how it was finally settled but I couldn't find it. It happened in the early 90's.

G'Morning SCIRISH..LOL at your dessert name..

  7. SHIRLEY: Thanks for the stats list..my but you are doing verrrrry well in all catagories.. ;)

  8. Good Morning Lynn - Congrats on first.

Good Morning Bonachichi, Scirish, and Zona-My-Baby.

Off to read blog and comments, eat my breakfast and feed my 'fur babies'. If I don't get back, "Have a great day everyone".
    Love Tinka

  9. Oh Carol~ I love stories like that. That is how I see humankind....most people are inherently good. I wish more of these types of stories made the news instead of all the bad~

Congrats on first LynnD~ Thanks for letting me sleep in today~ :D

Good Morning to Bonachichi, Scirish, Zona, and Tinka~

  10. Oh....I keep forgetting to tell you guys....Remember when my kid and his friends painted themselves for the football game? Well "bulge guy" won for most spirited senior (what a shocker!) and my daughter won for most spirited freshman! :D

    ReplyDelete
  11. Scrish, I do indeed remember the Good Samaritan case. It was thrown out. The media didn't come out and say so, but they plastered her picture all over so the rest of us would know not to save her in the future, if we wanted to avoid litigation.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm sorry, Zona; that last comment was for you :D

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ok, anybody with the first name "Horio" would be a hero in my book even if he didn't do heroic things!

Good afternoon, Lynn D, Tink, Bon, Zona, Scrishy, Tina, and Carol! I'm kind of late getting in to the nest today because we spent all morning "fall cleaning". Zona, do you have as many spiders over there as we do in Palm Springs? I must have destroyed 10 thriving ecosystems around the outside of our condo this morning!

    ReplyDelete
  14. LynnD Congrats on getting here before Tina noticed.

Scirish LOL @ Tart Fo the Ho!

    Tina Congrats to Tina Jr.!

Zona I can't even imagine the kind of person that would sue under those conditions. What a jerk!

Carol Thanks for the uplifting story. It takes a special kind of person to rush into danger for the sake of another, especially a stranger. It's good to know that kind of selflessness and heroism still exists.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Scrish....I wasn't guessing the name of the dessert....God...I thought we were going to have another war of the words....like we did about zorch!! lol.....

Hi everyone...good blog today...I would like to think that if any of us were put in a situation that required extraordinary bravery....that we would rise to the task....its natural.....what is unnatural is suing a person who helped you......so crazy.....

Have you all seen Elizabeth Smart in the news regarding her kidnappers competency hearing....

She is amazing and she means to see those people behind bars.....

Such grace and composure.....I want to do something wonderful for that young lady.....any ideas.....its sort of akin to the blog today...

Honoring the heroic....and Elizabeth is a hero in my book..

    ReplyDelete
  16. DeeDee I haven't heard anything about Elizabeth Smart today but I did see something on the news about it last night. It is amazing that she has such grace after going through what she did.

I keep asking myself, was I that detestible when I was that age?

  24. If anyone is out there, I found a good deal today. I was going to replace my daughter's laptop - because she spilled something on it. I went to Best Buy and learned that they're clearing out the "old" computers to make way for the new breed. All computers come with a free Windows 7 upgrade (when it's released in about a month). Even BETTER is that they take trade-ins! Like a car! I'd gathered old laptops & cell phones and can get the new computer FREE!

Such a deal! Now that the little worm has gone and pissed off the whole family, I'll be giving all my trade-in stuff to my dad and HE'S getting a new laptop. Good things can come out of bad!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lynn..

I know, it was such a heartwarming story, we don't see it often, and when we do, it just makes me believe all over again..

Sorry about the first link, I clicked on in this morning as well and it was not working so I found another link and this one is working..

  27. Oh Carol would you let Mo know that I did some breakfast up for her on a plate in the frig. It's half a can of sardines (not sure how long they were open) and a couple biscuit someone left on the cupboard from last week. Would you also tell her she can finish the carton of milk off that is in the back on the right side. The date says Sept. 15th but they always get that wrong. I'm sure it's fine.

This is what I cannot comprehend..

Did the guy that was black mailing him really think he was going to get away with it? Can someone really be that stupid? Cause you really have to be stupid to even think for one nano second that you can get away with that!

    Totally baffles me...

  55. The surly in Tina's comment..

Well there is a back story.. I always thought you spelled "surely" like this "surly" not sure why tho, I guess I just never thought about it. It seems Tina did tho, cause she totally called me out on it.. so from now on my "surly" will be "surely".

Thanks Tina for correcting me, we had a good chuckled about it, I am happy you corrected me.. Its like when someone has a piece of green lettuce in their teeth and noone tells them, they walk around all day looking stupid.. So now I am not stupid anymore.. Hooray for me..

Carol: I had major debates in my head about whether I should mention it or not. I see now I SHOULD have told you!! I am sorry for not being the friend I should have been.

And, Carol, thanks for asking, I am feeling much better. Started feeling a lot better on Thursday..after all the drama this week, I am glad I am getting back to my old self.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I agree, too..Jon and Kate...total train wreck. The saddest thing is, there are a lot of younger people who watch that show and enjoyed it and they do not know what to make of it now. It's a shame. Besides that, those children have got to feel the tension too.

Carol, I have a word that I always spell wrong and I have to correct myself. When I remember it, I will tell you. I have to write it to remember that I spell it wrong everytime. IT is hard for me to try and do it right because it doesn't "look right" to me.

Damn, I wish I could remember what word it is.

    ReplyDelete
  71. J/L.. I know that is what Tina told me..

I still can't believe I spelled it that way.. I even spell it that way when I e-mail clients.. Oops.. :O)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Carol: I don't know if she claims you, but it would seem that she is, since she did assist you and I did not. I am serious that I debated whether to tell you or not. I don't know if you know this, but you use that word a lot! :) It wasn't annoying or anything, just I got used to you writing it the other way. And, sometimes little things like that are nice when you are on the computer. It shows you that the person is at least consistent and it is truly them. Almost a way to have an inflection, if you know what I mean.

I learned "no one" when my brother and I entered a contest in Tiger Beat magazine when I was 12 yrs old....we kept looking at the word noone and it looked so wrong that we asked our mother.

Someone on this blog used to write "alot" all the time.....and yes Bebbi...i would use that as their "little quirk" that told me that it was really them~

  125. Regarding the Spoilt Princess. Yes, she's been thrown out. First from my home, then from my dad's. The alarms in her head SHOULD be going off, but she DID GRANDPA A FAVOR BY STAYING WITH HIM! I've written a blog. If Carol publishes it, you can all show it to your kids. A warning, of sorts.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Since I seem to be alone in here, I'll talk about farts. Are you all familiar with the Uzi?

    ReplyDelete
  127. Well, the Spelling Nazi's come to the blog again. Keeping the spelling and grammar straight from one language to another is difficult. The Spanish alphabet has 30 letters, English 26, and I believe Italian has 22. I can't even read Greek or Cyrillic.

A few weeks ago, I watched the screener version of a movie. It had subtitles in a language I couldn't identify. It seemed to be made up of mutations of the letters a and i. That's it. Just a and i, and a consonant thrown in once in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Well, it's kind of boring talking to myself. I've not taught myself anything new. Maybe Ernie the Chihuahua wants to talk.

    ReplyDelete
  129. TINA: You are such a good friend to let us know when we have food on our face (spell a word consistently wrong). It is good to be assertive like that...I am glad that I have spell check!!

This blog was great about a hero and then the tone sure did change.

SHIRLEY: I don't see your stats. Am I blond..I mean blind?

Ok, I am off to bed early as I have two football games to attend in the AM and a fund raiser pancake breakfast first---at 8:30 on the other side of town. Hopefully, time to come home and take a nap as going out for MRD's one week late bday dinner tomorrow night.
