I love Maxine. All her comics really tickle my funny bone. I got a bunch of new ones from my Dad in my email today and thought that would be a perfect blog!
I think DeeDee is like Maxine. Funny, up in age and very wise! There are a few others that are like Maxine too. In my mind, Bonachichi is like a younger Maxine (Maxine in Training!). I am a Maxine-wannabe!
What comics are your favorites? Why haven’t you done a blog about them yet? I would love to hear about them!

Bamm!!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI - I love Maxine!! Seriously, she reminds me of my Mom!!
ReplyDeleteDEE DEE - You are the prettiest and bammiest today!! ♥
I still have a soft spot for the Peanuts gang!! My Dad called me big mouth Lucy when I was younger....couldn't imagine what he was referring to (she says coyly batting her eyes) ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has a great Saturday!! Working on laundry now. Heading to the farm with my cousin Jenny and her kids. We have 2 new Belgians. I thought her kids would like seeing them. We are then doing lunch!!
ReplyDeleteWon't be around much tomorrow. Heading down to see LOIS!! Had a rough week with my daughter and she has graciously offered to take Sam for a few days.
5!!! Just for shits and giggles ♥
ReplyDeleteGood Morning!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI: I love Maxine's observations about life..she sounds like my neighbor..a little grouchy but in such a funny way.
I've always liked Ziggy and Bloom County. I kinda felt like Ziggy sometimes..lol..
DEEDEE: The one, the only..the prettiest today!!
JODI: "Muaaa.mauaah wuhhh waaah..wuuhh waaaah.." ;)
I've never heard of Maxine, but I guess I'll have to read up on her now.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, we used to ready the Sunday comics, but I can't for the life of me, remember anything about them. Now, the only comics I have time for are those Japanese erotica comics. I find them educational.
DeeDee, congrats on prettiest today! Good morning to Jodi, Zona and Tina from A51!
ReplyDeleteOMG..I wrote this whole long thing and now it's all gone...grrr.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first DeeDee: Bam Back atcha!
ReplyDeleteJodi: LOL at the Lucy reference, I can see that even with all that "eye batting" going on. ;) Peanuts are awesome.
Zona: Bloom County, I haven't thought about that comic in years. When I was the manager of a bookstore, we would sell the books like hot cakes (and the calendars too). The books were not inexpensive either. They were larger than magazine size and very thick.
Bonachichi: Both of my sons are crazy about Anime. What is it with techie people and those comics. My middle son has all the Dragonball Z series. Also, he was into a series where if you poured water on the boy he would turn into a girl. NOt sure the name of it, or if it was the Dragonball Z one. But they certainly are erotic..and probably very bad for teenage boys..but I got them for them. HEY, reading is READING..hehe.
Okay..going to post this to see if I can before I lose it all again..gosh..i hate that.
We are not amused....
ReplyDeleteI am just glad that Tina is at the crafty-person expo in Moroni Angel, Utah.....she would love your blog Bebbi.....because she knows of my distaste for Maxine......
The only cartoon "character" that I have ever related to is Cruella DeVille....
I don't know how this was over looked in your background check....
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletemy delete....sorry....I need to pirate a better spell check....
ReplyDeletenow some important business....where do you think I got photoshop!? Oh wait...that was yesterday.....lq
Has anyone else seen the HUGE shark around your island in IP??
You didn't believe me when I told you about the snake....
Well...all I am going to say is that if you have anything you want to keep...don't put it near the water....including but not limited to your own appendages.....ijs...
DeeDee, for some reason I think Tina probably knew about this blog; and your apparent distaste of Maxine is WHY she's gone. She's either hiding or celebrating.
ReplyDeleteSharks in IP? I gotta go check it out! How much fun is that??
I think I'm Quagmire on Family Guy! LOL!
ReplyDeleteBebbi, the anime I've seen has left me with questions ranging from, "You can DO that?" to "Is that legal?"
ReplyDeleteIf your boys are reading those, they're probably raising a few tent poles, too. ijs..
Who doesn't love Maxine! She is so lovingly crumudgeonly!!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI...thanks for the blog.
I don't really read the comics. I open that section for the crossword puzzle and that's about it. When I was little, my dad would read me he Sunday comics each week. One of my favorite childhood memories. I think I liked one called Nancy. She had a little dog.
I was educated today on Anime. I saw a little bit on YouTube that my cousin was watching. He is ADDICTED to it. He's 17, so I guess I now understand why!!
JODI...That is really nice of Lois to offer to have Sam stay there for a few days.
I awoke with a headache and the nap hasn't helped. Gonna take something so I can start my day. Lot's to do.
BBL...
BEBBI: I have all those Bloom County books!
ReplyDeleteBONACHI: Is Anime the same as Manga?
DEEDEE: I went right over and checked for the shark..he's not around my island. Maybe he's circling looking for an island with some cassowaries on it... ;)
MO: What a great memory of your dad! I remember my dad wanting the comics first..lol! Was the comic Nancy and Sluggo? I don't know why I remember that, but I do.
I hope you're feeling better this afternoon!
BEAR: I've only seen one episode of Family Guy..so why Quagmire?
It's a beautiful day here..I'm going to go out and read a book in the warm sunshine. It's kinda like homework. ;)
Have a great day everyone!
Zona, I don't really know the difference between all the animated genres... What I do know is that people who download stuff called Anime, Hentai, Manga and Doujinshu will probably be calling someone like me to remove viruses from their PCs.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember a comic called Shoe? What about Duudsonit? No, Dilbone. No, Doppler? What's that comic that starts with a D and has a guy with glasses?
Happy Saturday Owls.
ReplyDeleteBeen really busy today and just flying by before I leave for Church.
I love Maxine and I find her very inspiring. LOL
Bear, LOL @ Quagmire. When I was in Seattle tending to Chad, he watched Family Guy and King of the Hill religiously. I had not watched these before, but after a whole summer of watching them, I was indoctrinated and I even watch them occasionally at home.
Zona, I like Ziggy, too. Haven't seen it in a while, tho.
Jodi, (((HUGS))) Hang in there. It WILL get better.
Bonachichi, are you thinking of Dilbert? He is always in an office/cubicle setting. Some of those comics really hit home when I was working. I had quite a few of them on my cork board in my office.
Waving to all the other Owls.
Gotta go. I hope everyone is having a good day. BBL
Hi...I have been having a quiet day today. MrD went gambling with my brother so I have had the day to myself. I was trying to catch up on some of my recorded shows...SACBARB: I am all caught up on Days now.
ReplyDeleteZONA; Nice to hear your weather is perfect and you are doing homework...
TINA: Hope you are having a fun weekend with your cuz and the craft show. I am trying to keep up the farm while you are gone..how about you MARY?
BEBBI: I love Maxine and think she is right on so many times. I love the cartoon of Family Circus and we have one here called Pluggers that is right people my age.
DeeDee: You are so beautiful today. I had better go and see if I cant find a beautiful heart on FB to send you as I know you have probably been watching for one or two all day long.
Guess I will go listen to the quiet for another hour or so....
DeeDee: Oh, I had no idea that you didn't care for Maxine! Cruella Deville? Oh My~! I would have to say that is a pretty scary character! I do like her color scheme though, Black and white looks good on me too. Although, I probably wouldn't be wearing puppy fur. Not really a PETA person but not into puppy de-skinning either.
ReplyDeleteDianne: I am alone this weekend too. Hubby went to Houston and won't be back until Monday. I worked out for two hours, had a leisurely lunch at Panera and came home and took a long nap. It was delightful. I will probably be up all night though..lol. I have never heard of Pluggers..I will have to look it up.
Whabby: I don't watch Family Guy but I have going to have to find out who Quagmire is! Is family guy the one where the kid goes, "Mom, Mom, Mama, Mom, Mom..."? My sister has that for a cell phone ringer for when her 14 year old son calls her.
Bonachichi: Yes, lots of tent poles in my house. Ew, I hate to think of that with my sons though..something inherently wrong about it. uck. I guess that is the attraction of Anime. I know what you mean about saying "is that legal"..my son says in Japan that you wouldn't believe the Anime they sell.
Okay, I am going to print this before I lose it..copying and pasting, that really ticked me off earlier today.
Bonachichi: OMG, I should have known you would like Dilbert....It is scary how many things you have in common with my 25 year old son...lol.
ReplyDeleteDILBERT!! It's Dilbert! I liked that guy...
ReplyDeleteZona: I figured you probably did have all those books..lol. OMG, they were so popular for the longest time. How many did they make? I know there were quite a few.
ReplyDeleteBebbi, truth be told, those Japanese bastards are sick. I don't like Anime or anything like it at all. It's popular with teen and 20-something men though, so your sons are right on target. I'm so glad I have daughters.
ReplyDeleteLOL Bonachichi..~!
ReplyDeleteMO - I was knocked over when LOIS said send her down!! I'm hoping the space and a change of scenery will do us both good!!
ReplyDeleteBARB - Thank you ♥
DIANNE - Tried coaxing your brother to come shovel you out. He said something about it being deep....even before the snow!! Huh....sounds like something my brother would say. Go figure!!
ReplyDelete30!!!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI - Another comic that I used to enjoy was Calvin and Hobbes!!!
ReplyDeleteBONACHICHI - My niece is VERY into Anime. She is into anything Japanese. It is her minor at college.
Bebbi dear....
ReplyDeleteI relate to Cruella because she has style..flair...and more money than God...and a great car....ergo...ME!
I don't skin dogs or wear their fur......I like doggies....
Maxine is a slouchy slob with a common wit....and although she is popular with the masses...I would have thought that card series would have ended soon after it began.
And I hope you are happy...I have just gotten a text from Tina addressing me as MAXINE!!!!
Dianne!!!
ReplyDeleteFAMILY CIRCUS!!!???
omg.....that cartoon is like a car wreck...you don't wanna look but you can't help yourself!!
Dianne I am sorry but that cartoon is dumb with a capital D..U..M..B!!
DeeDee: You made my day~! LOL, I was wondering why you would relate to Cruella Deville and I am SO HAPPY to hear that it is not because of her fashion choices. I can understand your choice much better now. Thank you for the clarification. I thought you liked puppies because I remember when I first started frequenting this establishment (before I lied on that acceptance application to get in) that you had a dog who had puppies and some of them (or all?) died. Tell me what happened with that again?
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you like puppies. :) I love my two Pomeranians with every bit of my soul..they are my two little babies.
I am a girl of the "masses" so that must be part of my attraction to Maxine. :) She makes me laugh..and she reminds me of my grandmother.
Dianne: I truly love Family Circus. I remember that being one of the great joys for me as a child reading that comment. They are the best!
Tina: Keep up the good work. ;)
Dianne: I said "comment" when I meant "comic" and I proofread it twice before I sent it and still didn't catch it until just now. GAWD help my poor pea brain.
ReplyDeleteI agree with DeeDee, Family Circus is D.U.M.B.
ReplyDeleteD - Dynamite!
U - Unbelievably cute and funny
M - Most Enjoyable
B - Beautiful in every way!
Jodi, I didn't mean to offend your family. The little anime I've seen is via work. None of it is something I'd let anyone under 18 see. I don't think I'd like a decent anime either, but I wouldn't call it sick. It's supposed to be technologically advanced but to me, it's just a cartoon.
ReplyDeleteBONACHICHI - None taken. I don't get it or her fascination with it.
ReplyDeleteSorry kids I have been on the run today.
ReplyDeleteBebbi I love Maxine! Cracks me up. I do remember that I would read the Sunday paper and always save the comics for last. That was my treat for making it through the news. LOL
I don't know that I have a favorite tho.
I need to hit the heating pad because my back is acting up.
PS I booked my flight for Chicago today.
LYNN - Yippee!!! Can't wait to meet your sweet ass!!!
ReplyDeleteHeading to bed. I have a long drive tomorrow. Good night HOoters!!! ♥
ReplyDeleteJodi, My step-granddaughter is 21 and an art major in college. She loves to draw fantasy images and is very good. She also loves anime and I don't get it either.
ReplyDeleteJodi: Be careful on your drive.
ReplyDeleteLynnD: I hope your back feels better soon. and Yippee from me too!!
Sacbarb: It seems like the teens and 20 somethings really connect with the fantasy art/cartoons. Cool that your niece has that talent!
I am so not going to be able to sleep tonight...1. I took a late nap 2. Hubby is out of town and I don't sleep as good when he's not home.
Bebbi. I'm not much of a comic reader but I always looked forward to Gary Larsen's Far Side cartoons.
ReplyDeleteI'm still visiting at my Mom's and just wanted to pop in and say "Hi" to you all. Xoxox
DEEDEE: I think family circus is cute...now I didn't say Maxine reminded me of you and I didn't write you an email calling you Maxine so......
ReplyDeleteJENNIFER: I am so glad you and your husband are okay from your car accident. How scary that happened. If any of you need to read it...Jennifer posted on FB earlier.
Ok...I am off to bed early tonight.
Good news MARY...snow passed us so if you get it I didn't send it.
The Far Side!!! Those are good.....
ReplyDeleteBebbi...why no... I wouldn't mind reliving such a sad period.....Dolly the Dalmatian had like 16 or 18 puppies....they died one by one and when there were only 2 babies left...Dolly died.....
But I still have my Yorkshire/Maltese...Belle..and Blue...my heeler.....
Bebbi~ you have no idea how much I enjoyed your blog today~ It's one of the few I haven't read ahead of time~ I died this morning when I read it right before leaving for the scrapbook expo~ I've had so much fun with DeeDee today~ I've known for a very long time that she abhors Maxine...I get where ur coming from....shhhhhhhh...she is just like her~ BUT....she doesn't look like Maxine~ Did you know she put up a pic of her pretty face last week as her avatar.....and then she deleted it a couple of hours later?~ If you saw it, you'd know~
ReplyDeleteDeeDee~ this thing you have for Cruella....i don't know.....i think you need to get over that and accept the whole Maxine thing....it's a compliment~ How about Maxine with flair?~ btw....congrats on prettiest~
Jodi~ lol@Lucy~
Jennifer~ I feel SO BAD about EVERYTHING that happened on ur trip~ I'm so glad ur okay and the kids weren't with you~ btw...don't tell LynnD ANYTHING about ur trip~ ijs~ :)~
ZONA...Yes, Nancy and Sluggo!!
ReplyDeleteAnd who mentioned Calvin and Hobbes? Love them! Oh and I liked Marmaduke, too!
LYNN...YAY! You booked your tickie! WHen are you going to be arriving?
JODI...be careful on your drive.
TINA...do you have details about Jennifer? I read her status this afternoon. So scary. Hey, whatever happened with Dean's job?
Jennifer's status states that a 17yr old drunk guy crossed the median and ditch and hit them. They were in a rental car and are okay. When she posted notes on her status she said they were at the hotel and she was at the pool and Dean was getting a massage and they were off to the casino tonight. They were okay and no kids with them as they are on a little romantic get-a-way. I don't think her husband has heard what the company is planning on doing with the place yet. Very scary but thank goodness okay..
