~ Ramblings from Work ~

by Tina~in_ut

I still don't have a clear job description.  It's been 2 1/2 months now and I can tell you some of the things I do, but I still don't know what my complete job description will turn out to be.  I definitely work with our executives and their family and friends booking their travel.  When I have time, I answer emails from our elite customers.  Today I found out that I answer/research emails from customers that write directly to our executives.  And the fun part......I get to call them back!!!  ugh!

I had to call this man who was upset because he didn't get frequent flyer credit on his Korean Airlines ticket (one of our partners) because the class of service he booked doesn't allow for credit (cheap ticket he purchased on Orbitz).  He finally got the message that he wouldn't be getting the credit no matter how many times he called/wrote, but what he wanted me to tell him was why he should continue to fly on our airline.  I can't stand these calls.  My truthful answer is, "I don't want you to fly our airline!  You're being ridiculous and you only just started flying on us!"  All I could really do is tell him the benefits of flying more and what he'd earn as a frequent flyer.  I felt like an idiot.  I even went so far as to tell him that he should fly on us because I'm cute~  I really did say that.....but then he told me he was cute too~  I was on the phone with him for an hour (45 min after my shift ended) and I was late for an appointment with my hubby and kids!!  I don't understand this type of person......so full of themselves.

My favorite favorite favorite email so far, tho, is the one I'm going to share, but before I do, I want to warn you that I'm posting it because I thought it was so stinking funny that of all the things in the world to complain about, this man complained about this!

Sky Magazine:  Last month I was offended you had the audacity to put Barack Obama on your cover, saying I would wager that less than 25% of Medallion members like me voted for him and do not like what he is doing to our country.  Think about who truly pays your bills.  Now this month you have a bunch of tree huggers like Ted Danson whining on about climate change.  What's next month, Ed Begley championing cap and trade?  You need to decide whether you have a travel and leisure publication or a political activist rag.

I couldn't stop laughing.  The emails we get are usually about not getting credit for a flight, late or cancelled flights, a rude agent, someone wanting compensation for something that was done to them, but this?  You have got to be kidding me!  I stood up in our department and read this to everyone.  We all got a laugh out of it.  They wanted to know what I was going to write back to him.  I couldn't say what I wanted, so I sent him a generic answer.

Now talk amongst yourselves.....I'm gonna go take a nap......these guys wear me out~

  6. Morning Glories!

Ummm Deedee you look like a hot mess in both of your Avatars this morning!

Tina I can sympathize as I did the customer service crap for many years. I actually remember crying with a lady who was so upset that the damn china hutch she ordered had not arrived in time to be in place for the holidays. I had to explain 15 times that it was on factory back order and we had no control. I guess I was hormonal that day and as she was sobbing at the counter I started to cry with her. Her salesman kept looking at me like I was losing my mind. I think I was! After many tears she and I hugged and I gave her coupon for our candy shop for a pound of free fudge and off she went.

The salesman just looked at me with his jaw hanging. I guess the moral of the story is that sometimes you just have to cry with them. Misery loves company.

People do get upset over the strangest things. Most of them just have way to much time on their hands. IMHO.

    Waving at miss Mary!

  7. Happy Thong Thursday Owls. I guess everyone is gone getting their taxes done at the last minute.

DeeDee, You are so much prettier at second today than first.

Tina, I sometimes used to have respond to correspondence sent to the Governor's Office if the subject matter was in my area. People DO complain about the dumbest things. I should have saved all of them. It would have made a good book. Oh! Oh! That's a good idea for you! Maybe it will be a best seller and you can retire early. I'll expect my cut for giving you the idea, tyvm.

  9. Hi Everyone!

TINA: There are times when not saying what you are really thinking to customers can be extremely difficult. I worked retail for years and most days it was ok..but there were times when I would have sworn there were teeth marks in my tongue because I bit it so hard while trying to keep myself from saying what I really wanted to say to rude customers. We were always told that 'the customer is always right'...HA! ;)

DEEDEE: Can you imagine what would happen if TINA gave the 'stock answer'..omg.. ;)

MARY: LOL@ DEEDEE 'bamming' alone.. ;)

LYNN: Your last paragraph reminds me of....me!! :D

BARB: Maybe Tina will even dedicate it to you! ;)

  11. Mr. Z took a couple days off and has decided to fix some things around the house. He's up in the attic right now putting in some insulation. Here's what it sounds like...

    Clump..clump. BOOM! BANG! "OUCH! S#*%!" Clump. CLUNK! BANG! "S#*%!" BANG! BOOM! "S#*%! S#*%! S#*%!"

I keep asking him if he's ok..telling him to come down..but he's determined to get this project finished.

Tomorrow he wants to work on the faucets..oh goody.. ;)

  12. Evening all!

Zona the customer is not always right! I don't care what all of the business owners tell you! I always thought that was bunk. It is like telling children you are always right sweetie no matter what you do. Blech!

Carol I sent you a gmail.

Zona please ask Mr. Z to be very careful! K?

  13. TINA...soooo funny! Especially telling him how cute you are!!

One time I DID tell a customer what I thought and the whole line of customers behind him applauded me!

Even in health care we get some fun calls. One old lady would call everyday and scream (probably hard of hearing) at the RN manager. She talked so loud that Tracy had to leave the phone on speaker so her ears wouldn't bleed. The lady had a butt wound and would scream...MY ASS HURTS, when is the G.D FUCKING nurse coming? LOL! We would all be cracking up in the office!

One Saturday when I was working this man called to speak to his nurse. I explained she was off on that weekend and asked if another nurse could help. He proceeded to tell me his RN told him to call if there is any change in his condition. I asked what the problem was so I could direct him to the right person. He told me he woke up and was very short of breath, couldn't catch his breath and felt very weak. Since it was now a number of hours later, I asked what he did and he replied...I had a cigarette and I felt much better!! I was cracking up!

Another lady used to call me all the time and ask me to have her RN call her. And then she would make me "pinky swear" that I would call her back!! It takes all kinds!

LYNN...I can actually see you crying along with the lady!

ZONA...tell Mr.Z I said to BE CAREFUL! He is balanced now and we don't wanna upset the balance!

  15. Peace love and friendship. Sorry I have been gone today but I have had a lot going on right now. I am getting ready for my son's graduation the weekend after the Chicago trip, a camping trip the weekend before and on Saturday we have Thunder Over Louisville and I have to be at the tent all day. So, I have been super busy. To top it all off, pressure at work and lots of stuff to do. Busy time of year for the old Bebbinator.

Loved the stories Tina, I have one for you about a certain airline that just happened to my daughter flying back from Key West. Stuck in Atlanta all day, She's not going to use that particular airline again. EVER..and I won't either. Oh, I was so mad. I won't mention the airlines name because I think that you know it well. I am sure that you hear horror stories of ticket agents at that particular locale. I know that is not the first I have heard of it.

But, she made it back safely, albeit she missed 3 classes because of it all. I was just glad she got back safely to home and school.

Okay..sorry...your blog made me do it.

DeeDee: Can I just say..wow, hunka hunka burnin love and not the first pic you had up but the second and third. I agree with Mary! ohh baby.

  21. DeeDee. Unfortunately, I can't see the avatar on this phone that everyone is drooling over, however all that bamming indicates he's really hot. Congrats to you.

LynnD. I can totally see you crying with your customer. You have a very big heart.

SacBarb. Working in the Governor's office, you must have seen some really interesting and bizarre complaints from the oublic.

Zona. Oh, no! Not the faucets! That's always good for lots of four letter words. LOL

Maureen. If you're not using your hot guy in your dream tonight, mind if I do?

Tina. A few days after I began working for a crime prevention organization, a woman called wanting to know what we were doing about lesbians. I told her we weren't doing anything about them. She then told me how a band of lesbians were trying to get her to join them and how they snuck into her house when she was out. Knowing she was delusional but not able to give her an answer that made her happy, I finally suggested she call a particular lieutenant at her police department. She replied that she already had and he's the one who told her to call us. LOL

Bebbi. Wow! You are like the Energizer Bunny!

Mary. LOL at your apology to Mr. Mary.

I wondered if it was you stomping around about all those annoying customers from your work..hehe
