The Haircut

by Zona

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked
about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you,
I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left
the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there
was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill,
the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you , I'm doing
community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The
next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you'
card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his
bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm
doing community service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and
left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there
were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the
citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

Not only would they line up for the free haircut they would expect you to donate to their campaign so later they could run your real small business into the ground and tell you that you need to pay your fair share so those real big small businesses don't have to. imjs

Good Morning Lynn and all the Hooters who fly in today!

Zona, you hit the nail on the head with that blog!!

Have been MIA since we had the kiddos. It was great, we had a blast and so did they. The downside is when they went home after 11 days I felt like I had been blasted! Whew~ busy people.

Good Morning Lynn - Congrats on being first.

Happy Birthday Goldie - Have a great day. Maybe you should rest today and celebrate later. I know how wonderful it is to have grandchildren visit and how it can also be exhausting. I think grandchildren are the best thing God invented.

Zona - That's a funny story. Thanks for the laugh. I need to a laugh today because I am trying to get myself ready for water therapy and I would rather go back to bed. I think it will be fun once I get there. Changing classes has helped.

Morning Owls.....LYNN: You look loverly at first this morning. Are y0u feeling better? I hope so.

ZONA: Funny and true blog. I would tell it to my police son but he doesn't like police/donut jokes....where is that sense of humor?

GOLDIE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY.......enjoy your day and many more happy ones ahead.

MORNING TINK: I was telling ZONA that when I have ridden the scooter in stores.....many a rack have come tumbling with me going by. They don't always make the aisles wide enough for the scooters. I'm surprised your stores don't have them in there but not the mall ones.

The whole Today Show was from Lambert Field in Green Bay for the game tonight. JODII AND GOLDIE, it was really interesting and they had fans there too....and one person for the Saints.

Interesting Fact: Green Bay is also known as the toilet paper place of the world. It seems it was invented there for the first time with only paper and no splinters. I guess getting awake early to watch the news pays off!!!!

P S TINK>....I so agree with you about grandkids!!!!

Lynn - Our government is so different. We don't have congressmen. We have aldermen, mayors locally and a Premier for each province. They don't campaign for money. Our federal government is run by our Prime Minister. He doesn't campaign for money either.

Good Morning Dianne - When we were in Hawaii last year we saw they had scooters in their Safeway stores. I had so much fun shopping with Jack. It was the first time in over a year that I was able to go up and down the aisles picking out the things I wanted. It was so much fun because I had missed grocery shopping. We have Safeway stores here too but we don't have scooters. I wonder why?
You made me feel better when you said you have knocked into things. I felt so incompetent yesterday when I hit a couple of racks. You are right. Scooters are allowed to legally be anywhere one can walk in public places but they don't make the aisles big enough. Maybe I should start a campaign. LOL

Happy Snappy Birthday Goldie!!

apropos Zona...funny but true...it would only be the republicans doing that!

I read that the lovely Hitlerette Jan Brewer got slapped down the other day...I really love it when a republican gets a firm "pop" across the snout...

On a fabulous note...Liz Taylors jewel collection is about to begin its world tour for everyone to see!!

If you enlarge my avatar... this piece is particularly interesting...it is a huge diamond from the 1600's.

It is called the Taj Mahal Diamond because it was passed from Father to son....son being Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife... Mumtaz...who died giving birth to their fourteenth child...

The diamond is in inscribed with the words “Love Is Everlasting” in Parsee....

During celebrations for Elizabeth’s fortieth birthday in 1972, Richard presented her with the historical Taj Mahal diamond, which he purchased for a reported cost of £350,000. “I would have liked to buy the Taj Mahal for Elizabeth,” joked Burton, “but it would have cost too much to transport it.”

After the Taj Mahal Diamond was in her possession, Elizabeth had the original silk chord replaced by Cartier with one fashioned with diamonds and rubies...

Good Morning Michael and Tina -I find it interesting that you both see the blog as coming from different political parties. I think not only is "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" but also "Truth is in the eye of the beholder". Very interesting indeed.

Tina - Yes I love getting out again. I feel so much more independent and it feels great. We take our ability to walk for granted and when we lose that ability we wish we had walked for miles and miles in rain, snow or hot sunshine.

Tinka said...

Michael - I love your story about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. They were two of my favourites. Her ring is beautiful. It's not quite as big as the one Jack gave me but almost. LOL
I hope her jewel collection comes to Victoria. I would love to see it.

Tina bases everything on being anti-abortion...a sad problem...however not the most pressing thing facing the country at this time...

Hell...Rick Perry cut funding to volunteer fire departments in Texas by 75% and cut forest services by one third....now we are on FIRE!!!

Republicans want to undo DADT and hiring a gay or appointing a gay will be unheard of.

They want to rule this country by the bible...I should say...their bible...and most of them have been caught or will be caught with their pants down soliciting gay sex! And usually right after voting against gay rights...

After 8 years of George W. Bush..and his Father before him...and that reprobate ..Ronald Reagan...anyone who hasn't learned their lesson is an idiot...

I D I O T ! ! ! who apparently doesn't believe in equal rights for all Americans...

I am home from water exercises. This instructor went a little too hard for my liking and I am one big ache at the moment. If I feel fine tomorrow then I will know it didn't hurt me. If I can't move then I will have to cut back again.

Zona - I am about to give you two rings.
I have to find out how my cyber daughter is.
Have a great day everyone.

I saw a poor old lady fall today.... she tripped on the sidewalk... At least I presume she was poor...

she only had $1.20 in her purse.

Watching the President and he is presenting a fantastic Jobs Bill. John Bohner looks like he is thinking we are so screwed. The American Jobs Act. Sounds pretty damn good to me!

Lynn D said...

Voting based on one issue is suicide for our country.

I think I just saw John Boehner searching for his flask.

Hmmm his ears are turning red and they clash with his fake and bake tan. imjs

I think I just heard the Koch brothers heads explode. :)

Uh Oh I think a few Republicans just wet their NASA diapers.

Lynn D said...

Uh Oh wants to know why we are on a race to the bottom and not a race to the top.

A few Republicans looked like they just swallowed a dog turd when the President said you don't create jobs by taking away people collective bargaining rights.

We are bigger than the politics of late. We are Americans!!!!

Michael - Thank you giving me Elizabeths itinerary. I guess I will have to fly to Paris to see it. I don't know if I can fit it into our fall schedule.

Hi Guys!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOLDIE!! I hope you had a nice celebration today!

We had a couple of power outages today..it was just for a minute or so..but man it made the a/c and the fridge rattle. I was afraid they weren't going to come back on. Now the computer is acting up too..I wish you could hold the power companies responsible for this kind of stuff..oh well. I'm going to post this quick and hope it goes through!

Good night LYNN, TINKA, GOLDIE, DI, TINA, MICHAEL and all the other Owls! Sweet dreams!

Good Night Zona - Sweet Dreams.

I am exhausted. I started it with a cardiac workout, then spent the afternoon taking Tia to the Vet for her final check up. Her surgery has taken a long time to heal but we are almost there.
Tonight I spent the evening packing and getting ready for our final summer weekend at the farm. The weather is so lovely, there probably won't be another one as warm until next year. We will be back Sunday afternoon to celebrate Jack's birthday at Cara's.

Have a great weekend all owls everywhere.
