This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Good Morning Zona-My-Baby - Glad to hear you are cooling off finally. Our weather is typical October weather. It feels like Thanksgiving and I love it. Congrats on being first.
Yeah, my comment posted. I was so annoyed 3 days ago because I tried and tried to get in and couldn't. This time it was my mistake with my username. Zona helped me out with that. Just one more senior moment. There are getting to be too many. I was so mad I didn't try again until now.
Just_Lin- My comment that didn't post was about my childhood fun. I would take the Quaker Oats container (Does anyone else remember when the container was round)? I would cut it to make it into cradles for my dolls. I would also make doll houses out of cardboard boxes. I thought they were lovely with the curtains I would make and the wallpaper ripped from the Sears catalogue. Now that I am not so poor I have bought beautiful dollhouses for my granddaughters and myself. I wonder sometimes if they enjoy them as much as I did with my handcrafted doll houses.
SacBarb - I forgot to thank you for the Maxine cartoons. They are as always very funny. I like the dishwasher one best. Jack tells the family that he doesn't dare lay down his coffee mug because as soon as he does I have it rinsed and in the dishwasher. He is exaggerating but I don't like seeing unwashed dishes.
I used to build houses out of cardboard also! I'd use kleenex for draperies and cut out furniture...I'd landscape then with little bushes and such....and put one or two of my model cars in the garage...
Then the couple who lived there (stylish people) would leave for an evening of social intercourse and they wouldn't be gone 15 minutes before there would be a grease fire in the kitchen!
Of course their home would be totally destroyed then I became the fire chief who had to give them the bad news....I don't really know what became of them after that because I was done with it...
But once...one of my friends...Lynn Lewis...threw a big grasshopper into one of my houses as it burned...it made me mad....but when the couple returned and I had to deliver the bad news again...Lynn piped in and said...."and we weren't able to save your grasshopper"....lq
he was funny that way...still is...
Once in the 8th grade Mrs. Sanders asked him to go to the next classroom and get her some tissue from another teacher...Mrs. Jackson...but instead he sent some girl into the girls restroom and brought Mrs. Sanders back a big ole kotex pad...
Shirley Speaking of weather, I guess it's downright balmy here compared to what you have. Do you get much wind where you are? That day I was at Peggy's Cove it was windy and, OMG, it was cold.
Tinka What a great idea to made cradles from the oat boxes! Wish I'd have thought of that. Handmade stuff is so much more magical that manufactured, truly.
Michael - I knew you wouldn't do that to a harmless creature.
Good afternoon Just_Lin - Do you remember the round Quaker Oat boxes? If you were careful you could cut them so they looked like bassinets. Cover them with pretty pieces of cloth and they were beautiful, (at least to me).
Quaker Oats still come in those round containers...right?
I love to decoupage them! I have them all over the house as vases and table legs....a canister set in the cocina....you name it!
I use them as floats whenever I put out a trot-line....I even keep my bait mix in one.
I keep all my bath soap when it gets to small in one of the canisters and the help knows right where to look when they need to wash their hands...
You can also keep your weed in there!
I was going to use one for a fish bowl but I couldn't see the fish swimming around so I cut a viewing hole and all the water ran out...so some ideas don't work as well as others...but there are literally hundreds that do!
Just Lin we do get a fair amount of wind here. I just wish someone would harness it for electricity. If I had money and was building myself a home I would have solar panels and a windmill...plus a moat and drawbridge.
Shirley....lol....of course not...they have their own "porta-potty"...
I have never seen a private home with a windmill like you are talking about but if they haven't someone should figure that out....its a great idea...
Solar panels on cars like the Prius are common to keep the ac running while you are out of the car...so that you don't have to get into a 140 degree car...

Good Morning Shirley - Happy Thanksgiving weekend. Have a good one.

Good Morning Tina - I watched George Clooney on "Regis and Kelly" yesterday. I think he gets more handsome every time I see him.
I am getting my hair done today in preparation for our Thanksgiving Dinner at Victoria Harbour House tomorrow. I am really looking for to it.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Off to my farms and then a nap. See you later.
Zona How pretty you are today! I was just outside and we can definitely feel that fall is in the air now. Our high today is no where near your low.
Tinka!

SacBarb Thanks for the laughs. I like the same one Tina does. What's shakin' up in your neck of the woods?

Michael I was enjoying your story until the demise of the poor grasshopper. :(
me too Linda....Lynn used to shoot every bird in every tree in their yard as well with his pellet gun...
My question now is why did his parents let him do that? But his parents both worked and were gone daylight til dark....
He grew out of that type of behavior I think...but I have often wondered if his kids did the same thing....
I loved Lynn but the animal stuff is always fresh in my mind...and of course I saw more of it than what I have talked about...
Its just part of the things that seemed wrong when you were little and now they are sickening...
My Dad was a fisherman...that seemed really wrong as well...
He said it wasn't because we were going to eat them....WHAT!!
He threw half of them back after dragging a lure with hooks thru their heads! And I wasn't going to eat that stinking crap!
Up from my nap and having one of Jack's homemade bran muffins (he is an expert at it) and a diet coke.
Hi Michael I loved your story but did you have to kill off the grasshopper?
Tinka...I didn't do it...Lynn did...
Michael - I knew you wouldn't do that to a harmless creature.

Must go. Now I am late.

Michael I assume the help has to take the soap outside to wash with the garden hose after they are finished in the outhouse?

Shirley LOL @ the drawbridge and moat. Between that and the windmill, sounds like you'll be needing a mighty big piece of land.
Tinka Is Monday officially your Thanksgiving?
Shirley....here is a great deal to start your place.....10m went into building this place and its being auctioned off for a starting bid of 2mil....
