~ Pinterest ~

by Tina~in_ut

In December, I was talking to Jenny while she was doing my hair. She asked if I'd heard of this website called Pinterest. I said no and her eyes got big and she told me I HAD to check it out. She said it was addicting and that I'd love it. I was in the middle of making my Christmas cards and finishing up my shopping, so there was no way I was going to look at it then. I told her to remind me again later. I didn't really have time for a new addiction, but we usually like the same movies and books, so I trusted her judgement on this, too.

Big mistake!! I don't know what it is about this website, but I love it and find myself getting lost in it.

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard.

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.

Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. To get started, request an invite.

Our Mission

Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.

This is from their website. It's just a high overview of what the site is all about. I have created boards on my page for my favorite actors, sweets, crafts, jewelry, scrapbooking, cards, funny things, favorite places, TV shows, and movies. I've found yummy things I want to bake. (Scary in itself) It's just fun. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think. You can access the website, but you have to be invited to actually use it. Within days of requesting an invite, you'll have an e-mail asking you to join. Let me know what you think. And if all of a sudden, you just disappear, I'll know where you're at~ :D

Good morning Tina and Michael.

Tina, I will have to check this out later. I can't sit at this computer chair too long. It hits the spot on my leg where they took a vein. ouchie!

I just want to thank everyone for the prayers and well wishes for my recovery. They really helped a LOT! I'm doing pretty well at home so far. Think I'll go back to bed for a while and try to come back later.

Good Morning Tina, Michael, Barb and Zona. Happy Monday to you.

Michael - Am I a poota or a pootette? Just wondering.

Barb - So Happy you are feeling better each day. Soon it will be spring and you will be re-born with the energy of a teenager.

Zona - I will let you check out Pinterest. I don't want to get addicted to yet another thing on the internet.

Tina - One of my New Year's resolutions was to get back to making my albums and DVD's. It is almost February and I haven't started yet. I am curious about Pinterest but I think I will pass. Thank you for the offer however.

Off to my farms (my addiction). Jack is in Vancouver so I will lose myself on my farms. Time goes so fast there.

Have a great day Owls everywhere.

I am just beside myself with this normalcy that seems to be surrounding your ordeal. You have been cracked open like a walnut...had your heart stilled for fancy stitching...had veins yanked from your legs...yet here you are...at home and posting on the internet...

Don't get me wrong...its wonderful...I am just beginning to think that my Father was a really bad patient...

At this rate I have no doubt that you will be "ship shape" for San Francisco Fleet Week October 4th-8th, 2012...and our usual swim out to meet the boys!!

Tinka...hi

To tell u the truth I misspelled those words on purpose to make them humorous...

The Spanish word is actually Puta and it means bitch or whore
...so it wasn't really intended for anyone here..least of all for you...even Tina...rolls eye..

I guess I should put less emphasis on humor and more on being courteous....

Swiss and Bacon Dip

Ingredients
8 slices center cut bacon, chopped
8 ounces softened cream cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 rounded teaspoons prepared Dijon style mustard
1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese, available on dairy aisle
3 scallions, chopped
1/2 cup smoked almonds, coarsely chopped
Baby carrots and a selection of spiced flat breads, cocktail sized pumpernickel or rye breads, or sliced whole grain baguettes, for dipping

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Brown bacon in nonstick skillet over medium high heat. Drain crisp bacon bits on paper towels.

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon, Swiss and scallions with cooked bacon. Transfer to a shallow small casserole or baking dish and bake until golden and bubbly at edges, 15 to 18 minutes. Top with chopped smoked almonds.

Place dip on a platter and surround warm casserole with breads and carrots for dipping.

Tina Good morning, Fancy Pants. You are looking grand, as usual. I don't know if I dare look at that website. I already spend soooo much time on the computer. I think that's where iteach has been hanging out, lately, too.

Just_Lin said...

Michael I know it was said with affection so it's okay if you call me a Pootette. LOl @ you and SacBarb swimming out to meet the boys!

Just_Lin said...

SacBarb Did you read that? Michael has plans for the two of you so get plenty of rest now so that you will be in tip-top shape for Fleet Week. I am just tickled pink that you are doing so well. Way to go!

Just_Lin said...

Zona If you go to that new website, leave a trail of crumbs so you can find your way back.

Tinka I get lost in the farms and the other games that I play. Before I realize it, I've spent way too much time in a pretend world instead of doing something in the real world.....like vacuuming or something. Hmmmm, wonder how that happens.

Just_Lin said...

Michael Oh, that does sound good. Would you make some for me?

Home from my first day of tax season. I made it...but I sure was glad to get home and lock the door behind me. I felt sick to my stomach most of the day with nerves. I know I let my fears get the better of me, but I'm not sure how to stop them. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

I have heard about Pinterest but not gone there. I think I will pass. My sister Robin is addicted to it and says it is fantastic! I hear it's easy to get lost in there for an hour or two or three...! Tina just don't ignore the Dumb Dog when he wants to go out!

Just_Lin said...

Shirley Kudos for getting through the day. The only way to get over fears is to face them which is what you did today. Each day will get a little easier, you know that. (((HUGS)))

Shirley...

one word...Xanax...just for tax season...

you could prolly get by on a fourth of a milligram...and you may work ur way up to half a milligram before tax season is over...then put it away for next time...

DeeDee and Barb used to swim out to meet the fleet...but I figured I can hold a pack of Lucky's in my mouth and swim too!!

About that dip...I am not well adapted to the cooking room...prolly wouldn't be fit to eat...

Shirley...

I really do know exactly how you feel. Sometimes there is anxiety that you just can't control...

I started with .25 milligram dose before work and then another around 2pm...

there are no side effects...you don't even notice ur taking anything...but omg the difference it makes...no anxiety.

It changed my life when I realized I never had to feel that way again...

My doctor thinks it should be in the water supply...

I don't know about that...but some people need a little extra help...like I did.

Thank you Just Lin and Michael.

Michael I am already taking an anti depressant. If I could take something to make me stop over thinking everything, that would be better. Maybe I need a brain transplant. Anyone want to switch with me? I need to get back to bed...some of us have to work in the morning! ugh!
