  1. Good morning! Well, the rain still has not arrived. On a bright note, I bought a new cheese slicer yesterday. LOL

  2. LOL @ the blog!

JustL you made me lol @ the "cheese slicer". That reminds me, I have to by some block cheese :)
We were lucky and missed one more snow storm that decided to go just south of us!
Jim left for the Casino yesterday after snow blowing the garage apron and guess what happened after he left? The sun came out and woosh! All the snow on the roof came down again! It took Matthew a long time to remove it because there was just no place to put it! I can handle the cold if no wind is involved, but not liking the bad roads! I get cabin fever!

I can relate on the boyfriend thing! My beautiful Granddaughter from Montana graduated a few years back with a full scholarship. She was hot on some deadbeat guy that was always in trouble.Nothing anybody said would convince her to get rid of him so her parents tried to love her and prayed she would "see the light". She gave up the scholarship and moved in with him. He would cheat on her and finally go to jail for drugs and bad temper!
I am happy to report that she finally "seen the light!" She is now with a sweet guy, has a beautiful 3 yr old baby, and going back to school.

  3. Mary I'm so glad your granddaughter was able to get out of that relationship. Also, how wonderful that she now has the opportunity to go back to school. Sometimes opportunities like that only come around once.

  4. Dianne, I'm so sorry Kayla has gotten so embroiled with this guy. It seems he has no respect for anyone, including Kayla. I guess all you can do is pray and I'll pray, too, that she sees the light and dumps his A$$!!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Mary, Has Raquel gotten a diagnosis yet? I have been praying that it isn't serious.

    ReplyDelete
  6. J/L, we have had a little rain today and expect more in the next few days, but our weather people hesitate to say that the drought is over and our water restrictions have not been lifted! Is your area on water restriction?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hey Jodi, wavin' a big HELLO to you!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Barb, thank you so much for the prayers. I really appreciate it. I pray hard.

Mary, so glad your granddaughter worked her life out. It's so frustrating to stand by and not be able to do anything.

JL, glad you bought that cheese slicer. Now the old one will probably show up. I went to a clothing store today to return something and then I bought three tops! I knew that would happen. The darn tops were right by the front door.

    Ho hum..I'm watching the debate.

Jodi, hi.. ITS ALMOST YOUR BIRTHDAY!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Barb We haven't had any mandatory water restrictions in my area. It's wet outside right now but it's really just due to a heavy drizzle. We are supposed to get a couple of real storms this weekend. Maybe I'll make a pot of stew and just hunker down inside for those two days.

  10. Dianne It's going to be difficult for Kayla to get rid of that guy even if she wants to as those kind of people can be scary and you said she doesn't have any self confidence. He is chipping away at whatever little bit she does have, you can be sure of that. I wish she could just go away for a few months but I know that can't happen what with her being in school and everything.

    ReplyDelete
  11. JL, I wish they would put her in a boarding school for her last year and a half but that won't happen either.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well, tomorrow is the big basketball game so I thought maybe Kayla should see if the boyfriend would do something for her and go....found out he's not allowed on school grounds. Peachy.....one more thing

We went to a New Mexican place for dinner tonight. They were struggling. We were there for an hour and a half before we got our food. I felt sorry for them. Their computer was down and there was a large crowd.

Not much new here today. Lunch with Tammy and Walmart shopping and home. Tried to renew an iron supplement but my ins won't pay for it so guess I'll do over the counter. I'm not paying $45 out of pocket for only 30"days.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Dianne So, the boyfriend is not allowed on school grounds...... Is that because of something he did?

It's stormy here today. The dog was refusing to go out and do her business this morning until the threw her ball down the deck steps. She can't resist going after it. Once down in the yard, she did what she needed to do and then came back in the went back to bed. LOL Smart dog.

It's supposed to continue to be stormy all weekend so I'll be making a pot of beef stew this afternoon and that will take care of dinners for the weekend. Other than that, I'll just be watching movies, I think. Last night I watched The Danish Girl. I think I will watch Creed tonight.

Too bad about the troubles with the new Mexican restaurant. Was the food good, at least?

    ReplyDelete
  14. J/L, It's raining here too and will continue through the weekend. It has been very windy at times also. I have had the heater on and I can't seem to warm up. I'm wearing sweat pants. a long sleeved sweat shirt and a cardigan. I may have to just get under the covers in bed soon. The cats usually get on the bed with me and Melly likes to go under the covers and lay by my leg. That should keep me warm. Ursula is smart to go to bed after being outside.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Dianne, Sending Kayla away to boarding school would probably just advance her hostility toward the parents and everyone who is against her boyfriend. Hopefully he will do something stupid that upsets her and she will dump him.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Barb, I'm so hoping that will happen with Kayla. I know she'd probably leave a school. Tammy said both cheer coaches talked to her tonight worried about Kayla and wanting her back in cheer.

Barb, you'd freeze if you were here to scepter it was 69 here today and sunny. Maybe some snow or rain on Monday. We will probably send it off to Mary again!!!

JL, Tammy signed something not allowing him on school grounds. I had forgotten. I just want to thank you guys for talking to me about this Kayla thing. It weighs heavy on my mind and it really hope to have conversation with you all about it. You are all great friends.

JL, I heard Creed was a good movie. Did you ever end up seeing Spotlight? I still want to see that and The Room.

We took dinner over to my brothers tonight and had a visit with him and my SIL. Had lunch at Red Lobster but I always just get soup and salad there. I love their lobster bisque.

Btw, yes the food was good at the restaurant. I'm pretty patient so it was okay.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It really helps to have conversation with you all not hope.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Dianne I'm sorry to hear that Kayla dropped out of cheer. I wasn't aware of that.

Creed was a good movie. Very much what you would expect. Yes, I saw Spotlight and that was very good and I recommend it. I also recommend Room which is still on my mind. The acting was excellent. That kid is phenomenal.

  19. Hi, HOoters. I'm putting off getting dressed and going down in the yard to look at all the damage from last night's storm. Some winds were at least 50 mph, if not more. I have a lot of big branches down. Half of a large plum tree has broken off and there is so much foliage there that I can't tell if it brought down part of the fence behind it or not. I so didn't need this expense right now but it looks like I'm going to need a tree service.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yep, section of fence is down behind the plum tree. The broken plum tree is the only thing keeping it up. Crap!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dang it JL. Sorry about all your damage. It seems like you get frequent wind damage there. I'm glad it doesn't hurt your house. It seems like it's always something when you have a house, doesn't it? How is the weather today?

Everyone must be very busy as things on the nest have been quiet this weekend.

    Jodi, how is Sam feeling?

Mary, are you shoveling or is that done for a few days now.

Barb, what are you doing today? Did you get warm?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Here I am Dianne! You are such an e-mail nag lol!

I am on my way to bed.
I took myself to the Casino today. I had won $70 on 2 scratch off lottery tickets and it was burning a hole in my pocket! I should have let it burn lol. I didn't lose a whole lot. I just needed to get out after being snow bound!
btw, Missy Dianne, keep your dam snow down there! We are supposed to have temps in the 60s this week :)

I have been watching HGTV. It's all about living on the Caribbean Islands! Anybody have a cool half a mill they can throw my way? I promise to invite you over lol!

JL, if we lived close by I would send Jim & Matthew over to take care of your tree and fense! They have had plenty of practice here!

SacBarb, can you even move with all that stuff on lol! You would definitely freeze your tah tahs in Michigan!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ahh Mary missed you so much glad to see you're back smooch

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mary, I can move, but slowly. It rained all day again so I'm still hunkerin' down. Would be nice if I had a real hunk to keep me warm!

    ReplyDelete
  25. J/L, We had strong winds last night, too. They were 40-50 mph and my electricity was out from 10pm until about 2:00 or 3:00 am. I have emergency lights in almost all the rooms in the house, so at least I can see to go to bed and the bathroom. They are really flashlights that I keep plugged in and I can take them out and use them to walk around. I forget they are there until the lights go out and they all light up. Then I am happy I have them. I haven't been outside all day to assess any damage. According to the news there was a lot of damage by falling trees and a few fell on parked cars. Our news also reported that we had an earthquake, centered in Gilroy. I didn't feel it, but some people in Sac felt it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dianne, I was very lazy today and I'm still wearing lots of warm clothes. I look like the Michelin Man or the Pillsberry Dough Boy!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dianne Living so close to the ocean, we can get some pretty wild winds during a real storm. I always worry about the trees. With all the wind and rain lately, I'm sure glad I have a new roof and new paint job protecting the house. It rained more all night long and is raining right now but there have been no more winds, thank goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mary I can understand you getting cabin fever with all that snow. I would be the same way. It's good that there are no casinos nearby because I would probably go there way too often and I don't have the kind of luck you have.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Barb I remember seeing those emergency lights when I was at your house. That is very good preparedness for those times that the electricity goes out. I know a section of Pacifica lost power for a while the other night but not in my area.

Eeewww! Just saw on the news that raw sewage backed up into some homes somewhere here on the peninsula. Can you imagine? I'm so glad I'm a bit elevated here at the foot of the mountain.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I did a little shopping for my upcoming trip. I needed a new swim suit cover up and a couple of new tops. There were some great deals at Macy's and I used a couple of $15 coupons.

I finally got word tonight about Raquel. Her Mom said she is still spotting out both ends. She is scheduled for a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks. She is scared poor thing! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a good outcome.

Our mounds of snow are melting with the warm temps. We are now deep in mud lol, Can't win! It looks like you west coasters are getting much needed rain. Too bad wind and earthquakes showed up too. Be safe out there!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mary, I will put your niece right away in my prayers. Poor girl being scared. They are sure taking their time with her.
Mary, when do you leave? Want me to come there and cook and clean for your guys? Do they like the crockpot and going out to dinner? Boy, they'd be wishing u back in a day.

JL, yuck that would be disgusting!!! How did that happen? Did those apartments ever slide down the hill? I get cabin fever if I'm home one day...no kidding. We are going to stay up in the mountains for two nights next week as Louis is on Spring break. We will shop a little and finish planning our summer vacation. I might even do my tax preparation while we are hanging out...well, at least I will bring it with me. We will then stop at the casino on the way home for a couple of hours. We like donating to Colorado.

Today's been a big news day here. Our QB Peyton Manning retired after 18 years in football. It's been a decision we've been waiting to hear since the Super Bowl. We will sure miss him.

Barb, good idea that you have those emergency lights. I hate for power to go off at night...it creeps me out. I guess from the sounds of it you will never come visit me in the winter?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Dianne Yes, the sewage thing was really gross. I can't even imagine how horrible that would be. It was not just all over their bathroom floors, but also out into the hallway. It appears the problem was caused by a combination of a sewer/plumbing company that was working on a sewer line and screwed up somehow and the rising water table due to all the rain.

I went and took my tax paperwork to my tax guy the other day. It seems that happens sooner and sooner each year.

I'm glad Peyton is retiring on a high note. He's had a great career.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Mary I wish I liked to shop. I'm in dire need of some new clothes.

I hope things get figured out for your niece soon. That is very worrisome.

The snow looks so pretty when it's all pristine and white but that muddy sludge is pure yuck. Spring will be arriving soon. I'm sure it can't get here soon enough for you.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dianne2 I forgot to answer your question about the apartment buildings on the edge of that crumbling cliff. You know, at one time they had plenty of land between the building and the edge but over the years it has gotten eaten away by the waves. They demolished one of the apartment buildings the other day and are scheduled to demolish another one on Thursday.

  35. JL, do you ever order online? I do the majority of my shopping that way as it's hard for me to stand so long shopping. It's a pain sometimes to send things back but not shopping outweighs it I think I have one place (Catherines) and I shop online a lot there but if I don't like it I can take it to the store..very handy

    ReplyDelete
  36. What?!! No one was here all day? Went to lunch with Barb GORDON today. We always go with a coupon. Well, that's about my day. I went by Walmart and dinner with the kids.

    What are you up too?

  38. Dianne, We often get strong winds here that knock out our electricity. I got a bunch of these emergency lights about six or more years ago. It has been out as long as three+ days, but usually it is only for a few hours. I keep Presto logs in the house to use in the fireplace when the heat goes out. If we are told that the power will be out for days, I go to Dean's because he has a generator. Otherwise I just wait it out here.

  39. Dianne Hello! Here I am. There is just nothing much to talk about as I live a very boring life. I gave the insurance agent the estimate I have for tree and fence repair or replacement and they want me to take pictures. I guess I will do that to the best of my ability after the rains subside. Rains are expected tomorrow and to be here for several days. I don't know how well my photos will show the damage as the collapsed fence is blocked from my view from the fallen tree and I don't have access to my neighbor's back yard to get a pic from that point of view. Oh, well. I guess I will get it figured out. There is no rush at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Barb I suppose I should be more prepared like you are in case the electricity goes out. I do know where my flashlights are, though. That's a step in the right direction. I also have an emergency radio and a set of little emergency lights. I've also used the gas burners on my stove for light in an extreme prolonged situation.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mary Waving a wing at you. Good for you for voting. Our primaries aren't until June.

    ReplyDelete
  42. HOdi Ho, ho, ho! Where are you?

    ReplyDelete
  43. JL, can't u get Gassed out or something with gas burners on? I think you shouldn't do that it might be dangerous. Why can't u cal, the person doing the estimate to come and take pictures or heck the claims adjuster? Tell them you are too old to be climbing around taking pictures....that could be dangerous too. Now I'm getting worried about you! JL, I live a boring life too--- I just yak about it.

Barb, I sure wouldn't like my power to be off three days. That's a good idea with that log. We lose power with the snow sometimes here but so far (knock on wood) not for very long. I don't think I've ever seen those plug in flashlights, but then I've never looked.

We don't have primaries here anymore but they are thinking about bringing them back.

We are supposed to get up in the 70's over the weekend. Very strange for us in March but weather people say don't put away our boots yet.

Well, our backup QB left for Houston by surprise today so we now have no QB. JL, big rumor of your QB coming here for a trade. Here we are the Super Bowl champs so everyone is getting offered millions to change teams. Looks like we will be rebuilding again. Boring!!

  44. J/L, We are supposed to have rain again tomorrow starting around noon, which is the time we are going to lunch before going to see Book of Mormon. CRAP! We have to walk to the theater from the restaurant, but it's only two blocks. I guess I won't melt if it does rain!

  45. DIANNE - Cute story! Sorry I'm a week late to the party.

    ReplyDelete
  46. DIANNE - Thank you for the birthday card! It totally made my day ♥

    ReplyDelete
  47. Glad to see you Jodi...we've been missing you. How's jake doing? Glad you liked your card. Did you notice the envelope? Wanted to advertise your age!! :)

Barb, I will be very interested in your review go Book of Mormon. I saw it a couple of years ago but I won't report on it. Let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Well....like the old days. 50!!!! Kind of like someone I know almost age!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. MARY - I got that email, too! I guess it means she loves us! Have you been enjoying this warmer weather this week? It's been great going out in just a light sweater!

    ReplyDelete
  50. DIANNE- I did notice the envelope!! You're sweet to advertise for me ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. SLIN - Did you get an estimate from a tree service? I haven't seen any of the movies you all have been mentioning.

    ReplyDelete
  52. DIANNE - Jake is better. No more symptoms of the concussion. I took Sam for her MRI yesterday. They did say she had a lot of fluid around her knee. We will get the results on Friday. Her pain is manageable and she is able to put more weight on her leg. She was funny the other day. She said "Ma, I was only 2 shots in....did a couple of twists, and BAM"!! I told her "haven't you ever heard, shake it, don't break it?!!?" lol!!!
