The teacher graded it and the child took it home.
She returned to school the next day with the following note:
Dear Ms. Davis,
I want to be perfectly clear on my child's homework illustration.
It is NOT of me on a dance pole on a stage in a strip joint surrounded by male customers with money.
I work at Home Depot and had commented to my daughter how muchmoney we made in the recent snowstorm. This drawing is of me selling a shovel.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Harrington

I LOVE this!!!! After reading the explanation I totally see the shovel LOL! So good π
JL Oh you are so right. It was Hywy 1 not 101, I totally messed it up. But yes scary. I loved hearing about your visiting Bodega Bay with your mother. I used to go there all the time, driving there from Santa Cruz. I would go to the pumpkin festival every year, that was a lot of fun too. Seeing that house from 'The Birds' was always something to see. I had to giggle about you pulling over so your mother could throw up! Until I could drive there was a LOT of pulling over for me. A lot of horrible trips with my parents when I was little because we went to Santa Cruz (that 17 miles over the hill!!π€’), Russian River and Tahoe were no fun either.
Mary "Cleaning like a mad woman". You did good girl!! I'm always cleaning my patios like on a daily basis but not a big area like you have. I hope Jim enjoyed his 'clean' spot.
Well it's just starting to get dark so Gidget and I are going to go walking. It's toooo hot for me already and that's just pitiful! I have no excuse for myself lol
More hugs and tons of good thoughts and love ππΆπ±π°πΉπππ§‘
JL, I laughed at the substitution Safeway made to your order. Chad brought home 6 lb. of ground beef from Costco and I broke it down into 1/4 lb. size portions. I put each one in a zip lock bag and flattened them into hamburgers to freeze individually. So, when Chad doesn't feel like cooking, we each do something on our own and it works out well. They don't take up much room when they are flat and they cook up quickly, even if I forget to take them out.
I heard about Hwy. 1 and it's not too surprising. I have driven and been a passenger going on that highway and didn't like it either time. It's very scary and some people drive faster than I think they should on that road.
Dianne, I'm glad you got your phone figured out. Did you get a new phone? Is that why the group text wasn't turned on? Before you give away all those iPhone 11 cases, be sure to go through them, in case you stuck a spare $20 in one! LOL
Mary, I can't get that image of Jim nekkid in the snow out of my head! I sure hope it was in the back yard, for the neighbors' sake! LOL I also had an image of you 'working like a mad woman' cleaning Queenie's kennel. I know you're vertically challenged, like me, so I hope you didn't have to get on a ladder! But at least you can get out some aggression breaking up all the ice and snow! What we do for our fur babies!!!
How is Raquel doing?
Seaside, I saw the news about Ross' engagement. Also, it looks like Ross has lost a lot of weight. He was with his other partner for about 10 years and this one for less than two years. It's difficult to keep a bi-coastal relationship going, but they both look happy.
I like watching the Voice, too. They have had some really good talent on that show. I used to watch Idol, but last season lost me. Maybe because of COVID and having to do it virtually, I just couldn't get into it!
Just me, checking in.
I am suffering from the winter blahs! I have tried to keep busy to keep myself from going nuts! I am running out of things to dust and clean. Maybe I should investigate more nooks & crannies! LOL!!
I was bummed out last week. It took me a while to find a good Birthday cake baker. A couple years ago I found on FB this sweet gal that baked out of her home. I used her for Matthew's cakes twice. She made all kinds of goodies including wedding cakes.
Well, I saw on her FB wall that she had died suddenly! She was in her 40s! I didn't know her that well. but it still crushed me :( She was loved by many, not just for her baking, but as an amazing human being. I saw at least one of her sons when picking up my cakes. He couldn't have been over 12 yrs old! So sad.
This week is supposed to be "warmer" may even get to 50* ...one day lol!
Well, I better get busy. I think I will make tortillas for tomorrow's burritos.....
Hi......Mary, so sad about you cake maker. Even sadder leaving her children. We r having beautiful weather in the 60’s. It’s supposed to get just a little colder tmrw and some flurries but then back up in the 60’s for the weekend. It feels like spring. Just a couple more weeks and we can change our clocks. I’m looking forward to that time.
Barb, my freezer is so full I wouldn’t have room for all that hamburger. You’d think I cooked. I’ve been looking at home fresh and some of those meal places for a couple of meals a week. It would get us..especially Louis eating healthier. I eat pretty healthy at lunch. I would just get like a couple a week so I wouldnt have to freeze them. There’s a lot of promotions right now. No, I didn’t get a new phone. I don’t know how that thing got turned off as I don’t even know how to do it if I wanted to. No $ in any of the cases.
Seaside, if I went surfing you would have one drowned friend. I can swim but barely walk. I can just picture me standing on that board. I guess I’d have to get a swim suit then too or is it ok to go skinny dipping while surfing?
Jl, did you get your taxes done? Do you do them or take them to someone? We r getting a small refund so our tax guy is going to see if it would be more beneficial to file married separate. We had $15,000 out of pocket medical expenses last year. Just got the bill for the ambulance from January for Louis tonight....$285. These medical bills are trickling in from a few months ago now.
Well, tmrw is the day I have to get my eyelid surgery to lift my eyelid. I’m dreading it. Hopefully they will find a vein right away for the drugs to put me to sleep. I started pills to help with the bruising from eye dr yesterday. I have to be there at 7am for an 8:30 procedure. They said I’d be out of there by 10. I had to go for covid test ..drive thru...yesterday. It wasn’t as bad as some of the others I had as they don’t go up so far anymore. Well, that’s about it for now. Please pray they find a vein.
Dianne, praying for your vein :) I was so surprised they found my vein when I had blood work done. The gal found it fast! When I give blood they have trouble too. I am thinking it is because I have lost 14#. Maybe my vein is easier to find now. Who knows lol! I will know when I donate blood next week.
Had my hair did today. I told her my last cut needed something. I had no "poof" on top. My hair was almost all one length. She fixed it and looks much "poofier :)
Hi all you cuties out there π
Dianne I been thinking of you all day and hope your surgery went really well. Hope they found that vein. I feel so bad for people that have problems with that, I'm sure it can be painful! I'm lucky I guess, my veins stick out and there's no problem finding them. I was LMAO at you and yes you can skinny dip surf π² I will record every second of it LOL Funny that you are looking forward to the time change, although most people do like it better. For me, I do not need to see that lousy sun at NINE o'clock at night! Just tooooo hot. π
Mary Sorry you have the winter blahs. Hopefully you get better weather soon and you can venture out to do fun stuff. Wow I feel really bad hearing about your cake maker lady. That's really sad. It's sometimes extra difficult when someone passes so young. I hope her family are all doing well.
Barb Yes I think Ross did lose some weight.....again Lol He seems to go up and down every couple years but he's such a cutie. I don't know if any of ya all watch Drew Barrymore's talk show, I watch it every once in a while but not often. I always loved her but talk show host is not her strong suit LOL Anyway, Ross is a regular on there. I know they've always been friends but was surprised to see him all the time. Sometimes it's really cute.
JL Waving at you!!!!! hugs π§‘ππ
I'm ready to do my running tomorrow. I have found some "So cute bunnies" the last couple weeks and can't resist some of them. I try to be good π
It's been kind of busy here with HOA poop. I had to really push and push to get our election of officers forms and stuff sent out. This goomba management company we have are not easy to get anything out of and our election has been held up for way to long. I went back and forth about running again and finally made my 'definite' not to. But my Munchkin has worked/talked non stop to get me to do it. Now I'm going back and forth again...the little POOP! lol soooooo we'll see, got the candidate form in the mail yesterday!
I hope everyone is staying safe even though we keep hearing how much safer it's getting. Just be careful when you have all those wild parties π Love ya all ππΆπΌπ
Seaside I was thinking about you recently when I was seeing such cute bunny and rabbit related things that are out now. This must be a tough time of year for you to keep from buying each and every one. I don't collect rabbits but I sure have seen some that I'm very tempted to buy.
I am really looking forward to being able to going out to dinner and eating inside the restaurant again. Thankfully, we are starting to be able to do that again on a limited basis. Friends and I have already made plans for that. I'm also looking forward to watching a movie again in a movie theater. I don't have plans for that, yet, but hopefully soon. I need my movie buddy to get her second vaccine on board first.
I agree about Drew. I did check it out the other day just because of Ross being on it. I used to love his bits when Leno sent him out to do interviews. Ross could probably handle being a talk show host. He would definitely be intertaining.
Mary I'm glad you got your "poof" back. Is that kind of like getting your groove back? LOL I was at the hairdresser's the other day, too. Besides getting my hair cut, I needed more texturizing, too, so it is much easier for me to style the way I want it. I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one who, when styling their hair, smiles in the mirror with the expectation that my hair will look better. LOL I usually end up muttering, "Good enough".
I thought about you doing your Tai Chi a couple of days ago when I tripped on the step in front of my house and fell. It doesn't seem that long ago that this happened to me at the same spot, also when I was carrying some packages. I think it all comes down to balance and not paying close attention. My balance is not as good as it once was, probably due to my weight, and it gets worse when I'm carrying heavy stuff. Anyway, I was glad no one saw me fall. I didn't really hurt myself. I was wearing jeans so I ended up with more of a burned knee than a skinned knee. It's a little swollen and sore if I press it. Otherwise, I'm just fine. I just really need to take extra care, especially when I'm carrying stuff. Congrats on your weight loss, by the way.
I'm sorry about the death of your cake lady. There's a nice restaurant here that I go to sometimes for really nice meal and they had the same man bussing tables for 20 years, Antonio. Anyway, I found out that he died from complications from COVID. I feel terrible about that. He was so nice and such a hard worker.
Dianne Okay, we all want to know if they found your vein easily or not. I'm lucky to have a really good vein in my right elbow for drawing blood. On occasion, it has been problematic to get a catheter in my left hand and that is certainly miserable when they keep trying and failing. I hope your eyelid surgery went well.
We will all make the trip to whatever beach you are at when you decide to do your naked surfing. Have you mentioned that to Louis? Oh, there is actually a nude beach not that far sound from here. I don't think they have very good swells there, though.
I use the tax accountant that my husband used to use because there is a trust involved and capital gains and stuff like that. I feel more comfortable having the taxes done professionally. He wasn't doing anything in person this year so I just had to get organized, get my figures and forms together, and fill out the usual long questionnaire and send my stuff to him.
Barb We are having really beautiful weather lately. It looks like we will have rain coming the beginning of next week and I'm looking forward to it. We need it.
I don't trust or understand the thinking of the states that are opening up 100% with no masks. The more people the virus spreads to, the more it develops variants. This is going to be bad news for everyone, not just residents in those states. Crazy! I bet you are looking forward to getting the second vaccine so you will be able to get your hair cut again.
I made Bolognese sauce a few days ago which I had on penne pasta. Last night I was craving mashed potatoes so I made them and put the Bolognese sauce on it. It was different but good. almost like having an upside down Shepherd's Pie. LOL
Now that I no longer have a dog, I get the occasional cat strolling through the back yard. I'm used to seeing the two gray tabbies that live a few doors down. The other day a white cat was in my yard two days in a row. I have no idea where it lives. I used to have a white cat who was named "Little White Guy" even though it was female. There were a lot of kittens living with me at the time and that's just how we kept referring to her, as in, "Hey, where's that little white guy?"
Ooh, we actually had some good rain last evening. It rained quite hard for a while, too. Love it!
JustLin,That is so sad about Antonio. So many have ben lost to that horrible virus!
I try not to look in the mirror lol! If in a hurry, I just grab a hat/cap and head out lol! The only make up I have been using is my mascara and eye liner. Sometimes I go wild and add rouge lol!
Dianne. I am glad you are done with the lid surgery and "blood drawing". Now please no more procedures for a while! Your body must be pooped out!
Barb, Raquel is doing wonderful. Thanks for asking. She went through hell when they missed parts of her miscarriage/D&C bits.
Seaside. We are still needing your warm weather! Next week it may reach 60!! Yippee!
Hi...They found my vein. ...first stick. Good nurse. The surgery went well and I haven’t had hardly any pain. I ice a few times a day and tmrw will be warm packs. I also take anti bruise pills dr sold me for five days. My eyelid is bruised and swollen and a little leaky but no,
face bruises at all. Much better than 20 years ago. My main issue is the recovery nurse started ripping the tape off where the Iv was located. I yelled out and she stopped for a minute. It totally ripped my skin about two inches long. I have extremeLy sensitive skin and thin. She covered it with gauze and wrapped it. She was very sorry but damn! I will always remember to tell them to put oil on my skin before removing it. She gave me gauze and wrap to take home. Louis has been changing it and it’s always bleeding. We put an antibiotic on it today so it won’t stick to gauze. Hospital called yesterday to check on me snd I told them arm worse than eye! Irritates me to put it mildly. I guess I won’t be surfing for awhile! I go to dr for checkup next Friday am and then take Louis for back shots that afternoon. I can’t go in so will be in car for a couple of hours.
We are getting really nice weather this week. Change coming mid week. Mary, we were almost 70 today. It feels like Spring..for a short time.
JL, I agree with you. Crazy these states opening up 100% while people are still getting vaccinated, etc. I hope they don’t do it here. I’m also hoping for Tammy to get her vaccine with her lupus and other things. I’m just watching news of over 100 Boulder college kids having a party. No masks and doing damage to the area. It is so upsetting. Oh no, you fell? Be so careful especially carrying things. I’m glad you weren’t hurt bad and that you were able to get up. Are you going to get your nails done again now that things are opening up some? Barb, how about you?
Barb, what’s new with you? I’m with JL...looking forward to go to a real movie now or soon. Not much eXciting going on here. I’m going to attempt meeting a couple of Tammy’s coworkers and Tammy for lunch tmrw. I’m pleased that they invite me. Hope they don’t mind a black eye person to lunch with tmrw.
Seaside, you get all the nice weather. I wouldn’t like it hot though. Do you have air conditioning? Boy, that hoa keeps you busy. What a mess. It’s nice you give your time to working on it.
Well. It’s hard typing with one eye. I have to keep re-typing things. Night
Good hearing from you Dianne! Sorry about your arm! That is one reason I quit
using the hair removing wax from my arms. I saw my skin cells on the tape when I tore it off!
JL, I forgot you had fallen! Glad it wasn't serious. Are you sore now? I have to be extra careful because of all the packed down snow, turned ice! I walk like a penguin lol!
Hi ya all π Surf's Up!!
Hey One Eye! I mean Dianne lol I am so happy your surgery is over and it went so well AND they found that vein! Shame on that little ninny for pulling your skin off! Geeze it's not bad enough what you went through but she had to put you through that pain too. I hope it heals quickly so the pain will stop. Besides the salt water will reeeeeealy be painful so yeah, you need to heal first π
JL Feeing bad about your fall. I sure hope your knee is feeling better, stuff like that seems to hurt forever. Hope you get to the movie theatre soon. I never went very often and mostly when I did go it was to the drive-in. Have to admit my favorite part is the popcorn and that devil-good butter! Yes I am having problems avoiding those precious bunny faces. I've bought a couple but mostly being good. I normally have bunnies out here and there but I put a lot of stuff out for Easter time. I'll have to take some pictures of Gidget with them and text them to ya all.
Barb I hope you and your little baby are all well. Are you having this constant sun and warm warm days like we are? News last night said it was supposed to rain a little today and then tomorrow and Wednesday we're supposed to have storms---thunder and lightning too! Yeah.....I'm holding my breath LOL! Probably be lucky to get those lousy sprinkles again. Would be nice though.
Mary 60?!?!? You must be sweating! I wish I could send you our heat. It was pretty hot yesterday and then I didn't help matter any. I boiled chicken and then boiled hamburger, both for Gidget. At the same time I had a whole chicken that I stuffed cooking in the oven. Munchkin came home and said---You should have put the air conditioner on! LOL Not yet. I'm not ready for those bills yet!!
I have our HOA zoom meeting all set up and ready for our meeting this Thursday. Should be interesting π Munchkin still pushing me to run again but lordy I'm tired of the poop.
I hope this is a good for week for everybody and we're being healthy and having fun. Lots of hugs to ya all ππΆπΌπ°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π
Hello my lovelies! I’ve been a busy owl lately. My sister ran out of her meds and couldn’t get a refill because the RX was too old. So she called her doc and they told her it’s been three years since she’s been in and the doc had to see her first. So Chad drove us, and I got to go in with her. I don’t know how long she has been out of her RX, but I’m sure it’s been a while. She only took one pill for blood pressure, and when they took her vitals, her bp was high and her heart rate was 136. It should only be 60. So the doc did an ekg in the office and it wasn’t good! She has an appointment with a cardiologist on Wednesday. I got her a monthly pill organizer and Chad went over to her house to give it to her and fill it for her. We haven’t been in her house since the shutdown last March. I have been keeping close contact with her by phone and I ask her every time if she is taking her trash out, and she always says “yes!” Well, she lied. She didn’t want to let Chad in, but he insisted and it was bad again. He said he had a “come to Jesus” discussion with her, but I’m sure it won’t help. We are really going to have to take drastic measures, I am afraid! COVID really screwed up all our efforts because we were talking her into moving into a residential home, now we have to start over. Her memory is getting worse and I mentioned it to her doc and he said right now he is more concerned about her other medical issues. Maybe if he can clear up some of them and will feel better, her memory will be better. I also told him I think she is depressed. That may also be due to her health issues. Also, she has an appointment for her first vax on Saturday and the second one in April. She’ll be getting Moderna. Anywayyyyyy that’s what is going on in my world!
Mary, I am so sorry about the baker woman. How sad, she was so young. I haven’t had my hair cut since March last year and it is now below my shoulders. At least I was able to color it. It’s time to do it again. Congratz on the 14 lb loss. I have not lost any more. I think it’s because I’ve been drinking coffee with creamer. I am cutting that out and changing to herbal tea. I drink that without creamer.
Dianne, wow! That’s a lot of medical expenses. I am very lucky to have a really good medical plan in my retirement. I have $10 copay for medical visits and most RX. My cataract surgery didn’t cost me anything, even for the eye drops. I’m glad your eye surgery went well. I would like to have that done, too. If I do have it, I will have to pay for it as it is considered like plastic surgery. I don’t know how much it would cost. I hope your arm is healing.
Seaside, I am laughing at your goomba management! Reminds me of some relatives! We’ve had some warm weather and also some rain. Today it was cold (55°) at least for me! Chad said it’s shorts weather for him.
JL, I have had some balance issues, too. Also have fallen a couple of times and when I fall it’s really hard to get up. I can’t get on my knees to get up because it’s too painful due to both knees having been replaced. And I have no strength in my arms due to the fibromyalgia, so it’s quite a show getting my arse up. I try to be very careful and I am lucky to have Chad to carry stuff for me.
Hi all.....ππππ§‘
Barb I'm so so sorry to hear about your sister. I've had some of those 'come to Jesus' meetings like Chad had with her. That's no fun at all, bless his heart for helping. I hope she can get the medical attention she needs for her heart and can start feeling better. You're right, she probably should be somewhere where she can have assistance when she needs it most. SO difficult lady, you're in my thoughts and prayers too.
Hope ya all are doing good......I'm still waiting for this storm we were supposed to have starting last night! Nothing but sun here! Lordy!
Hugs to you cuties.....πππΆπΌπ°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°
Seaside, well, we finally got that storm, at least in Sac. We had some heavy rain and some very loud and very large hail, too. I love watching the hail come down as long as I don’t have to drive in it or the rain. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow, too, and we have to take Marie to the cardio doc. Not looking forward to that.
Got my eyes dilated today. I was hoping to get a new prescription , but was told I would need cataract surgery first, cuz new px would do no good! Bummer! I have been trying to avoid it! K, I will post later. My eyes are still blurred from the eye drops
Mary Actually, I am sore and I didn't realize why until the other day. My left arm where I have the rotator cuff problem, has been extra sore. I was doing quite well after all my PT exercises for it, but I feel like I took two giant steps backwards after that fall. Obviously, I put both arms out in front of me to brace my fall, and it was really jarring to that shoulder. My knee is still swollen and bruised. LOL at you walking like a penguin. Whatever keeps you safe from falling is the right way to walk. I would be paranoid about walking on the ice.
I suppose I will end up with cataract surgery one of these days, too, and am not looking forward to it. I had my eyes examined earlier this year because I noticed a new floater in my left eye. I hadn't had my cataracts looked at for many years so I asked how bad they were now and the answer was something like 'fair to medium". I asked how bad they need to before surgery is necessary and she basically said is was up to me and when I felt it was an impediment to my vision. I could read the eye chart fine so that was good.
Barb I'm so glad you were able to get your sister in to see her doctor. This pandemic has made it so much harder to keep tabs on older people who live alone. I'm lucky to be very mobile, even if I did trip on that dang step recently. So, what's going to happen with her now? Is Chad going to have to go over there every week to make sure the garbage gets out and that she's taking her meds? I'm really glad she was able to get started on the COVID shots.
I do not have knee replacements but I still find it very painful to be on my knees. I don't know why but it's horrible. I often say I would give away all the government secrets if I was forced to be on my knees for 5 minutes. When I tripped and fell on the step, once I had gathered my thoughts and the pain in my banged kneed subsided, rolled once to the side so I was on the grass. Getting on my knees on the grass was slightly less painful than doing it on my walkway. I'm fortunate that I can use my arms to push myself up. That's another reason my bad shoulder has been worse since then. If it isn't one thing, it's another.
Seaside Well, did you do it? Did you pull the plug on the HOA gig? It's always a thankless job, isn't it? And you will like your neighbors better when you don't have to deal with what a pain in the ass they can be. I hope it isn't a jerk that takes over.
Roasted chicken sounds so good. That's something I haven't done in a long time. Are you making corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day. I plan to and am looking forward to it. It's one of my favorite meals.
Did you ever get any of the rain? We've had some good rain coming through here and are expecting more tomorrow evening into Monday. Yay! I guess we still aren't up to snuff as far as rainfall totals that we need. We definitely need a lot more than we've gotten.
Dianne Yay for the nurse finding your vein on the first stick! And boo on the one that tore your skin. That gave me the shivers just reading about it. I'm so sorry that happened to you. How is your eyelid looking now?
I keep thinking I will be my nails done pretty soon but I haven't done it yet. My friend gave me a gift certificate at Christmas to get them done. I guess I want to make sure we are going to really remain open even if it isn't at 100% because I get acrylics and it was unsightly having them chip away bit by bit when the nail salons were closed. My real nails are so wimpy and always break or peal and some get curvy and twisty. Weird!
I'm glad Tammy (or Yummy) will be getting her vaccines.
Hi....JL, that falling is so damn scary and yes, walking on ice is worse than driving on it for me. I guess that’s why I force myself to stay iN When it’s that bad. My friend Kathy that I go to lunch with every week is having bad walking issues and is on two canes. We pick restaurants that the parking and the door are close. I need it for walking and especially for breathing! We are quite the pair. I’m sorry you hurt your shoulder and knee. We have to be so careful we don’t break anything. I’ve had both knees done and I can’t get on my knees at all. It sounds like your places are really going to stay open there. So your not coloring your hair at all anymore? I doubt I’ll ever stop and I’ve told the kids they better not ever let me. I do pink and white on my nails..acrylics...and I can go almost a month between appointments. My eyelid is really doing good. I went to dr yesterday and they finished taking the dissolving sutures out and I don’t have to go back until may. The nurse was not happy about my arm. She took measurements and pictures. Dr checked to see if I needed to go to primary. A week ago I think,I probably did.
Seaside, well I’m asking the same question as JL...are you done with the Hoa? Those towels and Kleenex were sure cute. You’re on a mission finding those things. Our storm is later than they planned so it’s still a winter advisory. We will see tmrw as it’s supposed to last until Monday morning. Guess I’ll be home for a couple of days. How warm is it there now?
Barb, sorry about your sister. Do you think she needs to go to assisted living and would she go? It’s kind of scary to not be taking her meds. does she have kids? So are you and JL going to still watch the bachelor without Chris? Doesn’t sound like he’s coming back at all. Quite the story. My ins paid for my eye as when they gave me the eye test my vision wasn’t great. Have your dr check.
Mary, that’s great about the weight loss. Did I tell you all about our doorbell ringing at midnight the other night? Scared me to death. Louis came up with his gun and peeked out. There was a guy on porch without a shirt. I called 911 and they said they’d be over. He only rang the bell once and then left. Police called me that they caught him. He doesn’t live here and he was very drunk without a car! I appreciated the police letting us know. Two days later my neighbor said he was at their door that night too but they didn’t open the door. They thought it might be louis needing something. I said if that happened at midnight we’d call first and Louis would have a shirt on. She thanked me for calling police.. I had told my other neighbor and she let the hoa know about the whole thing. He didn’t go to her house. I hope I’m not repeating myself and if I am sorry.
That’s about it. Did some organizing in kitchen and office today and will do my bedroom tmrw. I’m cooking again (I cooked tonight) and making corn chicken chowder ..not in the crockpot..tomorrow night. We did a Hello Fresh dinner tonight. It was chicken with pesto pasta. I’d never done one before. They provide all the ingredients but it was still some work. It tasted good though. Ok...that’s it.. think,I’ll watch 48 hours and check the snow level although Louis gives me updates. Btw, he got shots in his back yesterday. I so pray they work.
That darn Dianne writes too much!
Dianne LOL You don't write too much. I forgot to tell you that I went out to restaurants twice last week. One time was just to my local coffee shop where I had lunch by myself while I was reading my Kindle. I love that and have missed it. I also went with a married couple to a Mongolian BBQ place that we love. We chose an odd time to go, 3:00, and it was perfect as there was no one else in the place but us. Our restaurants are open at 25%, so far.
Barb, How sad about your sister. It is not good forgetting to take her meds. Has she been eating ok? My sis in Texas has dementia and very stubborn. Her daughter found a place that had safety precautions in place so she couldn't walk away. She was not a happy camper, but has finally settled down to her routine.
JL, I have never seen "wimpy" nails lol! It has taken our whole shut-down time for my nails to finally heal from all the shellac. I am taking OTC 5000mcg Biotin and seems to be helping. Hopefully it will help my hair too.
Dianne, I am glad your ins. paid for your eye lid surgery. Hopefully it will pay for my cataract surgery. I think he wants to do something to help with my glaucoma, which is a bit more complicated. I will be asking a lot of questions and making sure they only do it on one eye to be sure of the outcome.
You did not mention the " shirtless" guy to me before. I wonder what was up with that? If it was George Clooney, well, you know what I would have done lol!!
Seaside, I boil meat and veggies for Zoie. I have to be careful giving them to her because she tends to eat them too fast, hence her "gagging". She gets a bit of kibble first, then she's not as hungry.
Well, we are set to get some of Dianne's snow later tonight and into tomorrow. We won't be getting as much thank goodness! March has been very windy! I had to buy a new flag because the one we put up got so tattered from the winds.
Jim took the tattered one down to the VFW. They hold a special ceremony and burn all the turned in flags. Jim bought a new one. They sell them there.
I have a Chiro appt. at 2:00 so I best be getting ready.
Dianne, did you have both eyelids done? I really want to have mine done because they are so droopy, but I don’t think they impair my vision so Kaiser probably won’t do it. That was really scary about the shirtless guy ringing your doorbell! Did you talk to him through the door or did he just go away on his own? It’s a good thing you called 911 and they picked him up.
Mary, we were talking to my sister about moving into the senior residence that our Mom lived in and she was almost convinced she should do it, but COVID hit and everything shut down and now we have to start over. Last week she had an appointment with the cardiologist, but she called Chad that morning and said she wasn’t going. This was after I reminded her each day for three days before and she was fine with going. Chad asked her why and she said she just didn’t feel like going. So, of course I called her and tried to convince her but that was futile! So she rescheduled for Wednesday this week and she actually went. The doctor put a heart monitor on her. It’s a patch and after a week, she takes it off and we’ll mail it back to the doctor. Her heart rate and BP were really good, so she’s remembering to take her meds. I do ask her every day, but I never know if she’s being truthful.
Seaside, glad to hear you are done with the board stuff. Your stress level should go down. I love all your Bunny stuff. I collected Pegasus and Gone With The Wind stuff until I had so much, I had to tell everyone to stop giving me anymore. It was easy birthday and Christmas gifts for the family to get me. I ran out of room to display it.
JL, Chad made corned beef and cabbage today because we were gone most of yesterday taking Marie to the doctor. He doesn’t do it in the crockpot, so he couldn’t start it before we left and we didn’t get home until almost 5:00. It was just as good today! Marie was supposed to get her first vax on Saturday, but that also didn’t happen, so she has a new appointment on March 27 and they had to change the second to April 25. I basically threatened her with having to get a taxi if she flakes on any more appointments. We have stuff going on and coordinating schedules is a pain in the arse! She isn’t used to going out and doesn’t really like to go out. She wears pajamas all day every day and doesn’t get dressed unless she has to go out. So she’s basically a hermit!
Hi.....barb, no just the left eyelid I’m so pleased with it. So far it cost me $100. I can’t believe how little the bruising was this time. I’d go to that dr again even though he’d not the friendliest dr. No, we didn’t talk to guy at our door. Louis just peeked and I called 911. Boy, it sounds like your sister is giving you issues. It’s so nice that you take her to the appointments. We r getting ready for our two day mountain trip. I’ve been packing for two days...you know me!
Mary, after Tuesday we are back to spring weather with a lot of snow on the side of the roads melting. Predicting snow Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. We r leaving Sunday so I want to go early just to get up there. We’re taking winter coats and boots. I’m taking some projects like cards to write out and some to just separate. We will meet some friends up there for dinner Monday night. Might go to a store or two if weather not too bad.
JL, glad you’re getting out again. I took Kayla, Em and stefon to lunch today and I think the restaurant was back at 100%. I wasn’t totally comfortable with it yet. Hard to get used to after a year. Stefon goes back to school tmrw. Nice To go to lunch with them. I had asked you if you’re going to color your hair anymore? How are you feeling now after your fall? I don’t think the pt is helping my leg much. I’ll keep going though. I cooked a pork loin recipe in the crockpot last night. Louis liked it so much he told my uncle all about it and now he wants my recipe. I’m just turning back into a cook I guess. Lol
Seaside, been surfing yet? I have my Peyton bag all packed with snacks, etc., for our little get away. Snacks and lysol spray. This is our first getaway in a year. I’m looking forward to it even for two days. I’ll be wiping everything down but not as nervous now that we have our shots. Well, I’d better get to packing. I take more meds than clothes with me.
Hi all. Dianne I am so glad you guys figured out how to keep your oxygen turned on!
How scary for you!
Yesterday it was so beautiful here. I over did as usual! Good thing I had a Chiro appt today! He fixes and I unfix lol! I really need to not lift stuff that is heavy!
I cleaned my side of the garage to set up my karaoke equipment now that it is getting warmer. I miss singing. I had it all set up and for the life of me I couldn't get any sound! I have awesome speakers and mixer, so it should have worked! I was so frustrated! Matthew came home and did something and it now works! That's the 2nd time this week that Matthew saved us! I woke up about 4am to use the bathroom and noticed we didn't have water! I checked the kitchen faucets and no water! I left notes for Matthew & Jim in case they got up early. When I got up Matthew was gone, so were the notes...and we had water!! Matthew had gone down to the basement and primed the pump. I am sure Jim would have called our well man and it would have been expensive! It's only Tuesday LOL! Hope the rest of the week is better.
Jim has been shopping for a new car. He went today and stopped to visit an older co worker friend of his on the way home. He came home and sat down looking sad. I was going to ask him why his eyes looked so red. Before I could ask, he said that his friend had passed away last Nove! No one let him know. I felt so bad for him.
With the dam covid crap, he didn't stop to visit him earlier. I am watching him for depression. He has lost too many friends in the last 2 years. None by covid btw.
Stay safe all!
Mary I am so sorry for Jim losing his friend and just now finding out. That's the sad part about getting older. Btw, did he buy a new car?
Yay for Matthew coming to the rescue. I hope he explained to you what he did with your karaoke stuff that got it working, in case it happens again. So, are you in the basement singing your heart out. I am not a good singer at all and have a very limited vocal range.
My left arm is killing me today. That's the one with the rotator cuff issue. I already was feeling the effects from bracing myself when I fell, but now I've added to that by carrying a bunch of grocery bags into the house. I had tried to arrange the bags so that I would have a light bag for my left arm for each trip into the house, but I guess I didn't make them light enough. It's been bugging me ever sense. I thought I was going to change the bed linens on my bed today but I've changed my mind. I think I will take it easy and not do anything that will require much from that arm. I'm just going to make a hamburger patty for dinner tonight. I have leftover mashed potatoes, gravy, and peas so that will be an easy meal.
JustLin. Jim test drove a car and was going to get it. He realized later that it was 4 cyl. He wanted an 8cl. So, back to the drawing board! There is nothing under 45,000 in the SUV dept. He will get about 15,000 on a trade
He always pays cash for his vehicles. It takes me 4 yrs to pay mine up lol! I will be getting a new one next year. I will give to Matthew as I have my other two Jeeps. I already have a buyer for Matt's, so I will split with him. My Grandson has my first Jeep that Matt sold him. All are still in great shape and running.
I have the same problem as far as lifting. I used to carry the 36 pack of water in the house. Now I put on a table in the garage and bring a few in at a time. I am one of "those" that try to carry every bag of groceries in at one time lol! I now park close to the house and put 2 bags at a time on the porch and have Jim bring them in. If I don't, it take at least 3-4 days before my shoulders feel better. I am glad you are taking it slow. Seems the older we get, the longer it takes us to heal.
Dianne LOL @ you turning into a cook again. That is probably making Louis very happy. Your pork loin sounded yummy.
So far, I have no plans to die my hair again. I don't know if it makes me look older or not. It probably does or at lest identifies me as "old" more quickly. Whatever. I get compliments on the color that it is. It's kind of silver, I guess, at least the part around my face and on top. The back is more white and the part just on the nape of my neck is a darker gray.
Our restaurants are now open at 50%. I hope everyone behaves themselves and takes proper precautions so we don't backslide. In a couple of weeks, I'll be taking my friend out to dinner for her birthday but she hasn't yet decided where she wants to go. She's invited me to dinner this coming week, which she's been doing pretty often lately. She loves to cook and her husband and I love to eat, so it works out well. LOL
So glad your eyelid healed well and you are pleased with the result.
Barb Did your sister get her first COVID vaccine yesterday as scheduled? I sure hope so. It sounds like you and Chad are going to have a lot on your hands with keeping an eye on her, her medications, her house, etc. It sounds like it would be very beneficial for her to be in an assisted living environment where someone could be keeping an eye on her. It would be tough, emotionally, to leave your own house, I think. It would be for me, anyway. as I've been here for 50 years. I like my quiet and my privacy. Oh, maybe I"M the hermit! LOL But, I don't wear pajamas all day.
My driver's license was expired last May 6 and I wanted to get a REAL ID but then all the DMV offices shut down and my license had an automatic one year extension due to the pandemic. Well, I had already started the REAL ID process, got a confirmation number, when things shut down. I can't remember if I actually scanned documents or not, but you still have to bring the documents into their office, anyway, with no appointment needed. In fact, they are trying really hard not to make appointments at all. So, now that my extension will be expired on May 6, I took my documents to the local DMV office. OMG! The freaking line was soooo long, out the door, making a loop, going down the entire length of the building. I actually got at the end of the line and when I saw there was o movement at all after a few minutes, I left. I came home and at least renewed my driver's license on line. The REAL ID will have to wait. At least my passport is good until 2022 so I'll be able to get on a flight if I want to travel.
Seaside Where are you? Are you busy figuring out how to use your new phone? I really should get a new phone as mine is pretty old now. I admit, though, that I hate the learning curve that goes along with getting a new device. Plus, having to pay for it. LOL
Did you ever get any rain in your neck of the woods? We got a decent amount of rain but it still isn't enough for what we need for the season. Maybe we can make it up with April showers? One can always hope.
So, is everything all sorted out with the HOA? Have you relinquished your position? Who needs the headaches, right?
ACH! It's spitting snow! The wind is horrible! I jest came back from a short walk and bout froze my arse off!
I went to the back of our property to scatter some old vegetables for the deer. They cross our property twice a day, to and from the river bottom. My neighbor, the tree farmer would have a stroke lol! He has legal permission to shoot them day or night because they like to eat the fresh pine buds on his Christmas trees every spring.
Justlin, I forgot to answer about my karaoke. I have it set up in the garage. The basement never gets warm enough for me to go down there. I have missed singing.
I know how to spell "just" lol!
Hi....it snowed about 2” today then back up in the 70’s. It was dental cleaning day for me and two crown day for Louis. Expensive day. Supposed to be nice for Easter. We’re going to our mtn place for lunch. The family. Mary, I enjoyed your singing. I can’t write much tonight as I’m too sleepy. YO be continued ......
We got you dam snow today Dianne lol!! The temps dropped big time too!
I was out painting the side of our lower garage 2 days ago! I need to do some major raking under the Weeping willow tree, so it better warm up soon!
Tomorrow I have my mammogram at 11 am and my Chiro appmt at 12:30. Hope I get them both in!
Ever since Jim's friend passed away without him knowing, he has been checking the obits every morning. Today he saw that one of my Karaoke ladies had passed away. She came off as an old bitty, but deep down she had a big heart and loved to sing. You could find her bellied up to the VFW bar a few times a week. Jim saw her more than me lol! I will miss her barking song orders to me since she disliked writing them down. She would sing very old songs. I got a kick out of her.
I almost hate to mention it but blue skies and mid 70's here.
JusLin, sounds wonderful! We had snow and temps in the 30s! I hear it will warm up in the 60s this weekend. Crazy time of year. One day sweatshirt then t-shirts (for a couple hrs lol) and light jackets. Today I dragged out my heavy jacket and mittens. Booh!!
It took me an hour to clean up the paint I spilled on the garage floor! Ruined my favorite tennis shoe :( I managed to scoop up most of it. I used a lot of hot water and Dawn dish soap! The paint was for the caps on our deck. I am sooo sore! I will be icing down tonight.
I will be out most of the day tomorrow. I have my mammo at 11:00 and my Chiro apptm. @ 12:30. I hope the Mammo doesn't ruin over too much!!
Hi....Mary....80’s over the weekend. It was perfect here today. Finally. Easter is supposed to be very nice. Did you get your warmer Weather yet? Sounds like you had a busy dr day yesterday. Your paint spill sounds awful. Glad you got it all cleaned up! What r u doing for Easter?
Very sad about your friend. R u still losing weight?
I have to say my leg is feeling better. The breathing is a huge issue. I have an appt with a new pulmonary dr on May 3. I’ can barely walk with out breathing my oxygen level, shows it’s normal. It’s very scary and frustrating.
JL, good thing you got your drivers license. R u going out for Easter? How the you feeling since your fall?
Seaside, check in. How’s that phone working out?
Barb.you doing a ham for Easter?,
Dianne, Thanks for the nudge. It’s so easy for me to lose track of time and I really don’t know why! I’m glad your eye healed quickly. Will you be getting the other eye done? What did you put in with the pork loin in the crock pot? Chad will be making a ham on Easter. I’m not sure how he’ll cook it. How was your little get-away?
Mary, I’m so sorry about Jim’s friend. Two friends and two cousins have died in the past year and all the funerals had to be limited to 5-10 people because of COVID. It’s so sad. I loved the karaoke video you posted on FB. It was good to hear your voice.
JL, I have to get Chad to help me change the bed linens because my arms are so weak. He said he has changed sheets more in the past two years than in the rest of his life combined! I told him that means he didn’t do it often enough, if that was true!
Marie and Chad bot got their first Moderna vax and their second is scheduled for April 25. Todd and Vicki were able to get their first one also. Todd said he was looking around on the various sites and two appointments popped up, so he grabbed them. Neither of them are 50, but they got scheduled anyway.
I got my real ID when I renewed my license in 2019. I had to bring my original birth certificate and marriage license to show my name change. I also had to show two documents that proved my address. Are they accepting scanned documents now?
I got a call from the lawyer that’s handling my Uncle Mike’s estate. After three years, probate is finally wrapping up. All 22 cousins are the heirs. We’ll be getting a copy of the trust and each of us will and have to certify that we accept it. Even though he had a trust, it had to go through probate because his first heir was Jim, who died before Uncle Mike. Anyway, we are all glad it will finally be done!
Today is the 28th anniversary of my husband’s passing. It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long!
Seaside, I hope all is well in your corner of the world.
Well, I didn't get my Mammo! I checked in online, got there 15 min. early, got my wrist band and waited. I didn't wait too long. I saw the Mammo gal. She asked if I h ad had the COVID shot and when. I told her it had been 2 weeks since my last shot. She said they prefer to wait 6 wks due to lymph glands. I wish they would have mentioned that when I checked in online!I called my Chiro ans he told me to come on in.
Dianne, it has gotten a bit warm the last two days. It should be even warmer Sunday :)
SacBarb, Thanks for the singing compliment :) I didn't hurt your ears lol!
I have been outside most of the day scraping old paint from our huge deck rails!
It has been looking pretty bad, so I decided we should put fresh paint on. What a mess! At least Jim did quite a bit of it! I like to paint, but this will be a challenge!
Here is a note my sister Lena put out to our family members about Raquel.
"Raquel's has had a bleeding issue for years. 2 week periods and excessive bleeding after a recent miscarriage π. She just got diagnosed today with von Willebrand disease. This is 100% hereditary. A protein in the blood, called a clotting factor, that is needed for clot formation is missing."
From what I gather, it was passed to her from her father, Lena's ex.
My brother's wife said her daughter got it from her husband, who then passed it on to her daughter. They both have it. Weird! The test is not one that is included in the normal tests. You could bleed out if having surgery! Scary! I have never heard of this!
Men can get this also. It's grouped in the Hemophilia category. It is treatable."
Mary, I’m so sorry to hear this news about Raquel. How scary that must be for her. Can they test her daughter to see if she has it? I imagine the earlier it’s detected, the better able to treat it. I will keep Raquel and her family in my prayers.
Scraping paint is a hard job. I have a glider in my back yard that needed to be painted after about five years. I scraped most of the old paint off, and it was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever done. The seat and back are all 2” slats, and getting all around them was a real pain! That was about five years ago. I don’t think I could do it now, and it really needs it again! Maybe I can get Chad to do it! I’ll bribe him! LOL
Mary As it turns out, I do know about von Willebrand disease as it can happen in Dobermans, too, and I used to have Dobermans. They had to be tested for the disease before they were spayed. Fortunately, neither of them had it. I'm glad they tested Raquel for it so she can be treated.
Well, it certainly would have helpful for you to know about not doing your mammo too soon after having your vaccine. I have seen on the news that it can make some glands swollen for a time and then it would have to be checked out because they wouldn't know if it was truly an abnormal gland or if it was just a temporary issue due to the vaccine.
That must have been quite a job to clean up green paint on your garage floor. If it was me, I would have said a number of bad words. LOL
Why did I not see your karaoke singing? I looked for it but couldn't find it. I guess I was too late to the party.
Barb True to form, I wrote down my scores for the American Idol contestants last night so I could vote for them and then I forgot to vote!!!! I couldn't believe I did that...again! They only had half of the contestants last night and each sang solo and then sang a duet with an established singer. Those were especially good. The other half of the remaining contestants sing tonight. Maybe I'll remember to actually vote.
Did Chad make a ham? As it turned out, I went out to brunch with my friend, Jane. We had a great visit and afterwards she came back to my house to watch a movie. It was really nice to visit with her even if she just had her second COVID vaccine 8 days ago. She ended up with a 102 temp from it and basically felt unwell for 3 days. She was also being treated for a UTI at the same time so maybe it was too much going on in her body at the same time. We got so full from the brunch that neither of us were up for making a big dinner. I ended up eventually having a ham sandwich and potato salad. I'll need to have more of the ham tonight and I have asparagus I need to cook.
As for REAL ID, yes, you can san your documents (to save time in the office) but they still want you to bring them in. They say no appointment is necessary but when I went, the line was out the door and all the way down the length of the building. Not helpful! I think I'll do what my friend, Kathy, did. When she renewed her passport, she also got the passport card, which can be used in lieu of the REAL ID for getting on airplanes. My passport will need to be renewed before next April, anyway.
Dianne Did you make it to your mountain place for lunch on Easter? How did it go with your breathing? I hope you enjoyed your day.
I had a nice surprise the other day. I was at the grocery store and a pretty redhead, maybe in her 30's or early 40's stopped me to tell me how pretty she thought my hair color is. So, I guess that was a good endorsement to just leave my hair as it is and not dye it again.
We were having such beautiful, warm weather but now it is overcast and cool. It's sweater weather, again. Our weather on the coast changes frequently.
My son will be turning 50 in May and my grandson will be turning 20 later this month. Unbelievable!
Seaside Where are you? I hope you, Munchkin, and Gidget had a lovely Easter. How long will you keep your bunny stuff out? I didn't decorate for Easter other than a vase of yellow tulips on the dining room table. When I was a little girl, I used to love getting a pretty new Easter dress and new, shiny black patent leather shoes. That, and chocolate bunnies are my predominant Easter childhood memories. I always got an Easter basket but that big chocolate bunny was what I looked forward to.
Seaside...we r looking for you. Here comes the famous nudge. JL, I love the marshmallow covered eggs and bunnies. And peeps! I didn’t decorate for Easter either this year . Barb made us Easter bags. That’s a nice compliment from the lady In the store. You like it too, right? So there you go. Yes, we made it to mtns for Easter and it was really nice having family together again. It was kind of different without being with Bruce. Lots of memories there though. The weather was nice too. I took oxygen with me. Wasn’t it nice going out again? Was your brunch served or buffet? I think they can’t do those anymore.
Mary, so sorry about your niece. I’m glad it’s treatable. I too will put her in my prayers. You r the busiest person I think,I know and all that manual, work. You are your own handyman. We just paid $350 to ours for work done Right now our Ice maker isn’t working but supposed to be under warranty. Someone will finally be out tmrw. Picking up my oxygen machine tnrw too we had it serviced. It’s getting hot here....70’s. I about turned on air today. I do have it on in the car and it helps me breathe. I have two fans in bedroom going always .
Barb, I’m sure Chad will help you with your paint job. Was the ham dinner good? Have you been out to eat yet? Our places are opening up a little more. I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. Louis and Andy went to movie. There were three people in the theater so they felt good. They saw Godzilla I’m venturing out sat for my hair..taking my oxygen with me. I simply just can’t stay home. Besides hair and nails are a necessity!
Dianne, I do have trouble sitting still lol! I have been scraping old paint from the top of the deck rails. Matthew sanded and I painted. That is only the top rail! I dread doing the bottom where the spindles are. Jim just wants to paint over the old paint, but too much is chipped. I think it would look awful! He is right when he says " who is going to see it" LOL! Well, for one, I am!
Barb, I have no idea if Raquel has had Myla tested. I am sure it has crossed their minds. So far it seems to skip a generation. Good luck bribing Chad into painting lol!
JustLin, Your mentioning "patent leather shoes snapped me back in time! I even had a patent leather purse! I swear I can still smell it lol!!
I'm surprised you didn't see my singing video. Maybe for the best lol!
Seaside, I am sure you have been busy with all kinds of warm weather stuff. I know I have been outside a lot lately. Mother Nature decided I was over doing it and turned it cooler and rainy! My Chiro gets frustrated with me. He fixes, I undo lol!!
Hi.....everyone is so quiet. What r u all dOing? How was the weekend? We’ve had nice weather all weekend and now predicting snow Monday night into Tuesday and all week off and on! Will we ever be done with this snow? At least the temps won’t be freezing. I’m still not breathing much but can’t get into see dr sooner than May 3rd. If I don’t walk I’m ok. I’ve been going to lunch and taking my oxygen. It doesn’t help breathing but it keeps my number higher so.....I simply can’t just sit here until dr day. I’ve been making sure I go out where door is close to handicap parking, etc.
Louis tripped on an uneven sidewalk Friday and sprained his ankle. Just what we didn’t need. He’s been icing it and staying off it. Barb brought walker in from garage yesterday just in case but he’s been using a cane. He’s much better today. He was picking up my oxygen machine and lost his balance.
Mary, how’s you scraping and painting going? Sounds like tons of work! It was hair weekend and nail day too yesterday. I went a whole month on nails this time. Expensive day.
Well, not much else to say. Check in guys and tell us what’s new.
HEY-----It's me lol I know it's been way to long and to say I been busy doesn't explain it.
Mary It cracks me up when you talk about alllllll your projects. You and I would get along just fine. My Munchkin gets so mad at me sometimes cause he says I need to chill and take a break! I even scrub the cement on the patios to get them real clean π I enjoy some shows on tv but I never make it all the way through without stopping it and getting up for something. I felt real bad hearing about Raquel, so scary. I hope she can get stronger, I'm sure ya all are worried about it. Also soooo sorry to hear about Jim losing his friend. That's such a difficult thing to go through. I hope he's dealing better with it. Hugs to him. Are you guys still new car shopping? Now that can be exciting. Good luck with that, can't wait to hear what you get.
JL Oh you really got me with the 'pull the plug' on the board of directors. I lost my mind (AGAIN) and ended up putting my form in to run again. A couple of really really bad things happened and I decided to run if no other reason to be a part of getting rid of this sad A excuse of a management company. Seriously bad. Of course I may not even get elected. I encouraged a couple of really great people to run and they did! I'm very happy about that. You also got me when you talked about your corned beef. Girl I love it! I look forward to having it every year and totally forgot. geeeeeze I put my Easter stuff away the day after Easter. BUT....a lot of the bunnies stay out all the time. Some in the living room and several of them in my 'PINK' room π€ I hope your Easter was fun and your memories of Easter are great. Did everyone where those patent leather shoes? Just like Mary said....I think I can still smell them too LOL
Barb How's your sister doing? I've been thinking about her and all the wonderful attention you give to her. It can be difficult but things we all seem to do eventually for somebody. Please take care of you too. So are you still watching The Bachelor and will you keep watching in the future? Sure was a mess huh? I watched only the first couple years and then, for me anyway, it just seemed way to silly. But that is coming from somebody that can't wait for Big Brother to start! I wish it was on more often instead of just once a year.
Dianne So glad to hear your trip went well and ya all had a good time. Like you I love chocolate covered marshmellows. I'm spoiled though because I really LOVE the ones from See's Candy. They call them scotchmellows. They're covered in chocolate and have a thin layer of caramel in there. Oh man are they good! Now ya lost me with the Peeps. What the heck lady?! Those are nasty LOL!! I feel so bad about Louis spraining his ankle. Is it healing well? That's one thing that won't get better if you don't totally give it rest. Hugs for him! Yeah I'm 'dealing' with the weather. The news says it's 85 today but the temp thing on my patio says 91 π Could ya just send your snow this way?? We'd love it π
My Munchkin had his first vaccine a week ago. I have my second one TODAY! So I'm not scared or super nervous, I feel fine about getting it. But I am a tiny bit concerned since I've heard so many awful side effects people get. Several family and friends of mine had some real poop happen after the second one. Oh well.....fingers crossed.
I really hope ya all are doing good AND staying well. I think about you alllllll the time and miss visiting. Please know you're in my heart and I AND Gidget send lots of hugs and much love ππΆπΌπ°ππ
Hello my wonderful Owls. I swear I thought I posted since April 4, but I must have imagined it! LOL Anyway, here I am!
Dianne, I am very worried about your breathing situation. I wish you didn’t have to wait so long to see the specialist. I’m also sorry about Louis spraining his ankle. I agree that you nor he needed another thing to hinder you.
How mice you were able to get away with family for Easter, even though it was a little sad without your brother. Saturday would have been my husband’s birthday and we usually take flowers to the cemetery, but I wasn’t feeling well so we didn’t do it. I feel a little guilty, but we’re going to try to get there this week. We have a lot of Calla lilies blooming that we can take out there. The leaves are huge and I like to put a single flower in front of a leaf and make a bouquet from several of them. It makes for a pretty bouquet. My parents are buried next to Bob, and my Mom planted the Callas from bulbs she had in her yard, so I always take some to them, too.
By the way, I like Peeps, too, but only after they have been opened for a few days and have gotten a slight ‘crust’ on the outside! Same with marshmallows! LOL
Seaside, I feel you will be on that board again! I am sure it will be good for the association, but I worry for your health. Can Munchkin help you with any of those duties? How old is Munchkin now? I still picture him as a little boy, but I know he is grown!
I do still watch the Bachelor shows. Linda and I watch together and text comments (sometimes snarky) back and forth. It makes watching more fun. We do the same with Dancing with the Stars.
Dealing with my sister continues to be an ongoing process. Chad feels we should try to get full responsibility for managing her health care. It’s increasingly more clear that she is not capable of making sound decisions regarding that. She wanted to cancel her lab appointment last week and after a lengthy phone conversation Chad finally had to tell her he was going to pick her up and if she wasn’t dressed, he would take her in her pjs. She was dressed when he picked her up.
JL, Chad made the ham and it was delish. He basted it with a brown sugar maple glaze with a bunch of different warm spices. It got a kind of crust on it and was yummy.
We have been watching the Floyd trial, and I can say I am not on that jury!
Mary, I agree with Seaside that you are probably the busiest person I know! Sometimes I get exhausted just reading how busy are! LOL I fear I have gotten very lazy during this pandemic! I got a call from the Senior Center that exercise classes will start outside in May. I am anxious to get back to that.
Howdy! Checking in!
I am so hating the crazy weather changes here in Mich.! I dragged out my sweatshirts and heavier sweatpants! We sure were teased with the warmer temps the last few weeks! I swear my energy levels drop right along with the temps!
Tomorrow is hair day. I have no idea why I made it 6 wks from last appmt. I am looking sooo bad! I usually have to do every 5 wks. Never again! I sure wish I looked good in some shade of gray hair.
I bought a new, smaller printer. My other one was acting weird. I would try to print something out and 3 days later it would come out. And it was getting so noisy, that Zoie would run out of the room when it printed out lol!
I have lost 18lbs since last Dec., and many inches.I would like to lose at least 20-25 more. Go me!
Mary....congratulations on the weight and inches loss! Wow, you’re really doing good. I need to get bacK into Ww again. I have zero. Otis too. Breathing should be one of them. We really supposed to get 3-4” of snow by Friday. I hope not! We took my aunt and uncle to Olive Garden tonight for his December bday. We are running behind with the virus. I knew you were off on hair since I got mine done sat.
I see my primary dr tmrw. Had blood work done yesterday. I still can’t breathe. Barb, Seaside’s munchkin just turned 21. I hope you’re feeling better. What was wrong? I hope nothing long lasting. I see more bachelor drama about Colton. I think he’s from Denver. So, you’re going back to exercise classes? Ugh! Good for you.
Had lunch with Tammy and Emilee today. She’s getting ready to go into her senior year in college. Hard to believe it’s gone so fast. Her boyfriend just came home from school and is finishing up online here.
That’s about it from here.
Ugh! I had my hair appmt. cancelled today! My hair dresser said she woke up with a "bug". I am already 6wks from last apptm! Hopefully she will be able to reschedule soon! I am looking awful! I did use some Loreal' spray. It helps, but it is messy.
I am listening to a cd I just got in the mail from my Niece. Her Mom (my sis) passed about 4 yrs ago. They were gospel singers. Her hubby just retired from singing mostly due to his age and unable to travel. Anyway his adult kids helped him close out the ministry account. They decided to use the remaining funds to put out a 50th Anniversary, 2 cd album of some of their music in their honor. It is hard to hear my Sis singing. She had a beautiful voice.
Dianne Is Louis's ankle all better now. I'm having a foot issue, too. I came down with gout one week ago and my toe is still red, a little swollen, and hurts to walk on it. It's nothing like the first day, though. That day my pain in my toe was absolutely excruciating! Not only was it too painful to put a sock on it, but just touching it with the sock material was painful. It was like all the nerve endings were on fire. I've been educating myself on gout since this happened. It usually last 3-10 days and I'm on day 8 today. It comes from a built up of purines which can be found in certain foods, some of which I seem to be eating a lot of these days, like red meat, asparagus, and green peas. My weight can certainly contribute and another also diuretics, of which I've been taking high doses for quite some time. My doctor has now cut the dosage in half. I had groceries delivered early in the week and it included asparagus. I'm afraid to eat it now while I'm in the middle of this gout episode.
Our Easter brunch was good but it wasn't special for Easter, just their usual Sunday brunch. No, it was not buffet style. Restaurants here are able to have dine in at 50% capacity now.
I need to get back to WW, too, and I say that as I am waiting for my homemade, frosted brownies to cool. LOL
Mary Did you get your hair appointment rescheduled? I got my hair cut over a week ago and by that time, it was 5 weeks for me. I had to cancel the original appointment because I woke up not feeling well. Because of that, I have realized that I have a problem with lactose now. I'm now taking a Lactaid tablet before eating anything with dairy in it. I just now tasted my lactose free milk for the first time and I'm not caring for it as it has a sweet taste to it. Boy this getting old really sucks. I still have the rotator cuff issue, now I've got the toe issue and the gut issue. This is why I made brownies; to give myself a treat. LOL
What a blessing it is to have that CD of your sister's beautiful singing voice.
LOL at the noisy printer scaring Zoie out of the room.
Barb I had to delete my first comment to you because I addressed it to Chad. LOL
I had to laugh about Chad telling your sister that he was taking her to her lab appointment even if she's still in her pajamas. Whatever works!
I still haven't gotten my nails done since the beginning of the pandemic. I'm feeling better about things now that I'm vaccinated so I'll probably make an appointment soon. I have a gift certificate to get it done. It would be nice to have nice looking nails again. Is Sheena ever going to do nails again?
Well, Colton's big news that he's gay was not exactly a surprise, was it? Apparently, he has a reality show coming up. What in the world would that be about? How his family is reacting? Dating? He looked scared to death to announce he is gay on national TV so I'm thinking maybe he should take some more time to come to terms with everything before airing more personal stuff on television. Then again, he's probably getting a lot of money for it.
Seaside Are you still getting to know your new phone? My phone caused me fits the other day when the email app decided to not work anymore. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it and finally hobbled to the local Verizon store so see if the people there could help me. Nope! They gave me a phone number to call but they couldn't help, either, and gave me another phone number to call. They couldn't help. I then called ATT even though I now longer use any of their services but I do have an ATT email address. Anyway, they couldn't help me either. I finally ended up helping myself by downloading an email app from the Google Play store. It's not as ideal as the one that came with my phone because I now have to see an occasional ad but at least I can get to my emails if I need to. My phone was built 5 years ago on April 16 so maybe it's email app was designed to age out. It was very, very frustrating.
Speaking of frustrating.....Have you been elected to head the HOA again? LOL
Hi.....how’s everyone doing? We had about 4” of snow last night but sunny today and the roads were dry. We’re supposed to get more tonight. I sure hope not. As long as I’ve lived here, I can’t get used to snow in the spring! I really don’t like it.
JL, Louis’s ankle seems well by now. He still shuffles those darn feet like an old person! Drives me crazy. Pt is trying to work with him on it. I haven’t been going to mine because of my breathing issues. We will see after my May dr appt. they called me today and I got all excited thinking my name came up on the cancelation list...nope, calling to tell me the person doing the breathing test won’t be there before my dr appt. very irritating. I have to go back two days later for it. How is your foot doing? I hear that gout is very painful. I hope it’s better now. Does Tylenol help with the pain at all? I wanted to tell you that Louis takes Dairy Digestive before milk and he can drink regular milk with no issues. He just gets it at the grocery store. You might want to try it. It’s a pill. Wow...that’s a really long time since you had your nails done. I went back as soon as they opened up!
Mary...did you get your hair done? I always gone every four weeks. I’ve been doing that with nails too I don’t have color put on them. Nice to have the cd of your sister singing. Singing must run in your family. How’s Jim doing? Did you get your painting outside done? I wonder if you’ll get the snow we had last night. We've been having nicer weather too. I don’t mind in the 40 or 50’s when the sun is out.
Barb, did you watch the country music awards show the other night? I actually don’t know if any of you like country. I’m pretty sure Mary does. It was a really good show and there was even a small audience this time. I like the music and never any political talk! It will bE interesting to see what bachelor does this next show without Chris on there. Louis likes survivor and I think they are going to start again soon. I’m finding it kind of hard at the restaurants with opening up more. I think we got so used to social distancing this last year that it seems strange to see more people in them now. I liked the distancing better.
Seaside....I’m like the other inquiring minds..are you on the HOA board again? I have a feeling you are! Well, it keeps you busy that’s for sure. How’s that phone working out? Been surfing yet? Lots of questions for you.
This is long again...I’m just too wordy! We are going to the mountains on May 2 to spread Bruce’s ashes where he requested it to be done. It’s been too cold to go and I’m hoping it won’t be snowing that day! Sheila and the kids are having a celebration of life in June for him.
Dianne, I forgot about the country music awards. I do like country music. I hated it growing up, then I married a cowboy and learned to like it. LOL My parents moved to Santa Maria when I was a senior in high school. There were a lot of farms and ranches in the area, and I hooked up with a cute cowboy! Also, they played country music in most of the businesses. It grows on you after a while! πΉ
JL, I didn’t hear about Colton having a reality show. I wonder what it will be about, too.
I still haven’t gotten my nails done and I can’t get them to grow. As soon as they get a tad past my fingertip, they get chipped and break. They are very thin, kinda like razor blades. I got a brilliant idea and bought some nail tips like Sheenah uses when I break a nail. I thought they would protect the nails and maybe grow a bit. Well, it worked well, and Sheenah told me to be very careful not to get water between the tip and the nail. I guess I didn’t get one of the tips on tight enough to the nail and I was redoing my polish last week and one nail has a BIG black mark. I panicked and called Sheenah. She told me to put white iodine on it and take all the tips off. So I am back to naked nails. I can start putting polish on today, but it doesn’t protect them enough. I’m hoping she will start doing nails again soon. We are both fully vaccinated now.
I also haven’t had my hair done since March! It is now about three inches past my shoulders and I can’t do much with it because my arms hurt if I reach around the back of my head, or reach up over my head. π©
Mary, I see your due for cold weather again. So sorry. Did you get your painting done? How wonderful that you have that cd of your sister singing. I can’t remember if you said school is back in session there. If it is, is Matthew driving the bus again? Congratz on your weight loss.
Seaside, Has the election happened yet? I’m still dealing with my sister’s stuff and my cousins and I got a form from my Uncle Mike’s probate attorney in case anyone wants to contest his will. There is one cousin who isn’t in contact with anyone and his sister is afraid he will contest it because he is a trouble maker. He just got out of jail for drug possession. So, we are all waiting to see what he’ll do! π© There are 22 cousins sharing in whatever is left after the lawyers get paid. I doubt it’s going to be a huge amount but it will be nice to have it over and done!
Chad and Marie got their second Moderna vax today. So far they are both fine. I’m so glad that’s over!
Barb...hope they stays well. Prayers coming. I’ll remind you next time the country shows are on. R u watching the Oscars tonight? I’m not since I don’t know any movies anymore. R u going to get your hair cut and done soon? You’ll feel so good after nails and hair are done. Amazing! It was 82 here today! Nice almost too warm. I went to lunch with a new friend that I met through tammyS work. It was fun to find a new friend. One more week to go to pulmonary dr. Been waiting forever. I can see I’m going to have to get my nudging arm out again. I think it’s time for a new blog too. I’m so busy annoying people!
Hi mary, just Lin, seaside
Uh oh...Need another post as I was 69.
Here I am! My life has been pretty boring lately.
Dianne, Jim does a lot of "shuffling too, except when he gets out of bed. I can tell the minute he is up because he hits the floor hard with both feet! I keep telling him to get up gently and sit for a few seconds!
Your weather sounds much like ours, 'cept we missed getting the snow..whew! It is cold this morning and supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow then, back to the low 60s. Crazy time of year!
I did get my hair done. I feel so much better! Gray is NOT my friend lol!
SacBarb, I had "lovely" visions of you and said cowboy lol! How cute you must have been!
I can't imagine you with long hair! Mine was about as long as yours. I told the gal to cut it just below my neck, but to leave my "comb-over" lol! She tends to cut the top of my hair short with med. bangs.
Matthew has been driving bus right along. My area is mostly farm country. Kids are tough and probably immune to everything lol! Most are up early doing chores and too busy to socialize anyway, except for sports. Sports are a big thing around here. It's a good outlet for them. They have had many championships there and in surrounding schools.
JustLin, I feel for you on your nails! I have not had mine done in over a year. I have been taking Biotin for a month. My nails seem to be doing much better. I have had one pedicure and ready for another now that it is getting to be sandal weather.
Jim has been getting antsy for Vegas. We made reservations for mid June. He has been doing a lot of walking and lengthening his distance to prepare himself for all the airport walking.
I have been walking Zoie everyday. Sometime 3 times, which is more then she usually likes. She has gotten so she wants to walk farther (further?). Sometimes more than I care for lol! Usually she only wants to stay close to the house. I guess she thinks I need to walk off some more pounds!
My painting has been put on hold with all the rain and cold weather. The top rail is done, just need to do the bottom and then prep the floor for staining, which is a messy job!
I didn't watch the Award show last night, but was surfing when I saw they were doing the memorials. I had a hard time keeping up with them! I was used to the slower pace, with clips of their accomplishments. It kind of made me feel sad :(
