Logic cont......

 by Dianne

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.’

'Yes,' the class said.

'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?’

A little fellow shouted, 'Cause your feet ain't empty.’

  1. Dianne Thanks for the blog.

Guess what? I have my Christmas cards! I also have one gift purchased but a long way to go, yet.

I guess you are visiting with your cousins now. Are you gambling in the mountains today? How is your breathing? I hope you are having a good time.

There's nothing new for me to talk about since the last blog. Last night I had dinner at my friend's house. We had shrimp tacos which were very good. As usual, I came home with a "care package". LOL I will have the shrimp in a different way tonight. For dinner tonight, I think I will quickly heat them up in a saute pan and make a baked potato to go with it. My other friend, Jane, has started working part time at the local Ross store. She gets off at 4:00 tomorrow and will come over. We haven't decided what we're doing about dinner but we will be watching Jane Austen's "Persuasion". We're in the mood for a Period Drama.

  2. Mary The whole reason I continue having the store do my grocery shopping for me is because of the cases of water. With my bad rotator cuff on my left side, it's a real strain on my right arm to try to deal with that weight with just one arm. I definitely don't want to screw up my right shoulder, too. They load the groceries in my car for me and once I get home, I take apart the case of water while it's still in the back of my car and bring the bottles in a section at a time. It makes for more trips in and out of the house, but I don't hurt myself. Like you, I also find I don't spend as much at the store since I am ordering the groceries off of my shopping list and there is no impulse buying.

I'm so glad you missed being in that horrible traffic accident.

  3. Hi…been having a great time with my cousins. Our family party Saturday at tams turned out really good. Those r always fun. We’ve been doing something and eating every day. I even had two drinks and a shot last night! I barely drink. We all went to dinner and they wanted everyone to do a shot. Louis and I finally said we would do a butterscotch one. So mild and yummy. I would have liked it over ice cream. We did go gambling today. We had lunch in the mountains and then to the casino. We were there about four hours and I lost $144. Not too bad considering the amount of time. I played a wizard of oz machine and then switched to a hot shots most of the time. Fun machine. I had some foo foo drink and a Kailua and cream …big drinker that I am. Tmrw they, my uncle, Louis are going shooting. I’ll go for lunch and then home. We will sadly say our good byes tmrw night. I will miss them a lot until we see them in Branson in October. They think Louis has aged over a year. He’s going to the dr tmrw to talk about his balance, being tired all the time and his anxiety. We quietly talked about it today without louis and I approached him about it tonight. He was open to it. He seems to get stressed very easy plus it doesn’t help that he’s in so much pain with his back.

I started pt last week to see if I can get some relief for mine. We shall see but Im willing to try. That’s about it from here. JL, nice u get to take a care pkg home from your dinner. Extra meal!

Barb, where have u been? Mary sounds like you’ve been doing ok. I too,am glad you weren’t in that mass traffic jam.

  4. JustLin,I do the same thing with the water. I take a reusable grocery bag and carry them in as needed. The garage stays cool in the summer, but could freeze in the winter, so I bring them in according to temps. The weight bothers my bad knee. Too much weight and I get pain and start limping.
Matthew has a bad back. Like I have said before, he has not slept in a bed in over 20 yrs. He sleeps in his Lazy Boy. Yesterday he had to have some dental work done and had to lay flat. It was more painful then the dental work.
My son Tony has been having knee problems. He is retired, but keeps busy by doing roofing for a friend for extra money. I don't see him very often. He retired from a State job, and his wife works for the state from home, so money is not an issue, he just likes to keep busy. I have scolded him, but you know how that goes with men lol!

Dianne. I thought Louis was doing better with his back shots. Jim gets very stressed too. I know he hates me constantly asking him if he is ok. He keep track of his BP and oxygen levels, takes his meds and walks Queenie 3 times a day, but he still has terrible breathing issues. He gets dizzy when he bends over. Another stubborn man. Just won't give up them cigs!
I am glad you have been enjoying family gatherings.

I will be buying $10 worth of lottery tickets. Can't win that Billion if I don't lol!

  6. Hello all you lovely Owls. I’m sorry for being absent, but here I am. I haven’t read all the comments, so I will do that later. I’m just checking in. I had a really nice visit and lunch with Lynn. She was traveling with her aunt and two cousins all over northern CA. It was just the two of us at lunch. The rest of Lynn’s group went to the Mystery House in San Jose, which was about a two hour drive from where we were. Lynn texted me five days later, when she was at home, and told me she tested positive for COVID. Her aunt got sick while they were in CA and tested positive. She got meds from Kaiser and her symptoms were mild. Lynn didn’t get meds, but had mild symptoms also. Chad and I both tested negative, so we were lucky. We quarantined for five days after our first test just to be extra careful.

I finally had a nail appointment with Sheenah, but I rescheduled it for a week later. Sheenah has been coming to my house to do my nails. She is only doing nails for 6 of her clients at their homes. I feel lucky to be one of the 6.
I also finally got my hair done. It’s really long since it’s been 2 1/2 years from my last haircut. I just had her trim the length to cut off the split ends. I’m going to see if I can style it myself between color appointments. My fibromyalgia is mostly in my arms and it’s difficult for me to reach around the back of my head.

  7. SacBarb, Whew, glad you didn't get the Rona!
I have been toying with the idea of growing out my hair longer, but decided I will get it cut shorter next week. It's just too thin.
I have a thin tiny pony tail lol!
Have you gone to any theater plays or movies lately? I can't remember the last time I have been to one. I have been on a "Hercule Poirot" kick. I am trying to get to all the series. Some I have watch a few times. The very last and finale one where he dies at the end I have watched 3 times lol! I ordered the book written by the man who plays him, David Suchet, called "Poirot and Me". I have just started reading it and so far I am loving it.

I have a roasted chicken in the oven, mashed taters and corn on the stove. I need to put the biscuits in the oven and set the table.
    Later.........

  8. I just found out that MO passed away early in July.
Here is what was written between Karina & Zona
"It’s Mo. She passed away. I was texting with Kathy and asked if she’d heard from her recently. Kathy got curious and googled and found her obituary. She passed away last month."
    So sad :(

  9. Mary Yes, I just found out from Barb last night. She found out from Kathy. Very sad.

  10. Dianne, I finally read the comments. How nice that you got to spend so much time with your relatives. I was happy to get to see Todd for just two hours in February when he was here on his way to Shasta with his two friends. I wish I could see him more often. He keeps asking me to visit him on San Diego, but I’m just not comfortable traveling yet. Just when I think all this COVID thing has died down, up pops the monkeypox! I just don’t want to take any chances of catching any strange germs!

Mary, It’s a shame that Matthew has to sleep in a recliner. I guess after 20 years he’s used to it, but I don’t think I would ever be able to do that. After I had my back surgery, I had trouble sleeping in be and I tried sleeping in the recliner and it just didn’t work for me.
Chad and I got some lottery tickets, $20 each, and we didn’t win enough to buy a gallon of gas! I heard one ticket won the whole thing. I can’t imagine what I would do if with that much money at this age.

JL, I finally finished watching Ozark on Netflix. I really liked it and was very surprised at the ending. I’m trying to decide what to watch next. The Handmaid’s Tale season three will start soon on Hulu and I will definitely watch that.

  11. Hi….I’m so sad to hear about mo. What a surprise. My really good friend in Texas husband died Monday am suddenly of sepsis. He had some leg issues and went to er at 5am and was gone at 10. I feel terrible for her. They’ve been married for 59-1/2 years! They used to live here and eventually moved back to Texas to be around their family. What’s even sadder one of her sons in on a cruise and can’t get a flight until Thursday night. Terrible for him.

Barb, I’m not afraid of traveling but then we don’t fly. I wouldn’t want to attempt our airport. My friend just went on a cruise and was in the Denver security line for three hours. That’s crazy to me! I’d like to see my Todd more often too. His wife camt to our family party and we were all so glad. She came with the two older boys.

Mary, I have tried sleeping in the recliner but it’s like short naps. Louis can sleep there for hours. My mom used to also. She had leg issues and it was easier than getting in a bed. We got $60 worth of tickets and won $4. I really didn’t want that many. Never great lunch. I’d just like to win 1 million. See, I’m not too greedy but I know what I’d do with it.

JL, how’s the bachelor going with two girls on it this time? I just don’t watch it anymore. I might watch the new password next tues as Jimmy Fallon is on it. We’ve been watching him more again as he’s not very political anymore and he is a very funny and talented guy. We find most people on his show we’ve never heard of or even know what they do. I went to Ww today but didn’t weigh in as I know I gained a lot of work when my family were here. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. We went to our friends part of colorado over the weekend. We stayed in a best western plus and it was nice and also handicap. We couldn’t go to their house as too many steps. It took us three hours to get there and two to get home. We were in all the Renaissance traffic. Long drive. We went to vfw sat night. I had a Kailua and creme tall and it only was $4. I would have had more if I’d known. Can’t beat that price.

Well, not much else new. Don’t forget the cma fest tonight..abc.

  12. Heloooo..
Where r u all? The cma show was really great I thought lots of stars there dining even some of their older songs. I loved it. I wish they had more of those shows on tv. It’s the weekend and not much going on here. Barb and I went to a really cute place for lunch called Grammys Goodies. The food was good..Italian and the desserts were great! I bought a couple home. It was just a small place but yummy. Tmrw barb is taking me to our mall in the travel chair and then we will have lunch. There’s a huge craft part of the mall we can go too. She wants to walk some. I can get myself around with my feet in the chair as long as she gets me in the mall. It will be fun as I never get to go there except once a year when louis takes my rings to be inspected. I miss mall shopping a lot.
Tammy might be getting laid off. A large group already have been and it looks like she and her team will be next. The mortgage business is not good right now. I’m so worried about her. She should know by Tuesday. We could use a prayer or two please. That’s about it. Hope you all,get on blog

  13. Dianne, thanks for the nudge. I forgot about the CMA show. I should have set it up to record, but I forgot that too. I think I can watch it on Demand. How nice of Barb to take you to the Mall. I haven’t been to the mail since the lockdown. I’ve kinda gotten used to ordering online. It’s so much easier. I think I’ve just gotten lazy.
I’ve been watching the Bachelorette, but I’m not too crazy about the two girl format this season. It hasn’t worked out so well, imo!
I heard on the news yesterday that DWTS is going to be shown on Peacock next season, but not on the free version. I guess I won’t be watching. I already pay for Netflix and we share Hulu and Disney with Chad’s friend Arch. He shares our Netflix and Prime. It was also announced that Days of Our Lives will move to the pay version of Peacock in September. I’ve watched it since 1971 when I stayed home after Chad was born. I watched off and on through my working years, and recorded it when VCRs came out, but I’m not going to pay to watch it. The soap audience is having a fit about it on the internet, so maybe NBC will change their mind. I plan to watch Password, too. I like Jimmy Fallon, even though he gets silly sometimes.

JL, I also read that Alfonso Riberio will be hosting DWTS with Tyra in the new season. Guess I’m gonna miss it. One of the morning talk shows did a quick survey about DWTS moving to Peacock and 87% were against it. They didn’t say how many people participated in the survey. I’m just thinking that it won’t be long before all tv won’t be free anymore.

Mary, how’s the weather in your neck of the woods? We’ve had really days in the 100° for a couple of weeks. It’s been up to 105°. We’re supposed to cool down to the 80° range for the next two weeks. My electric bill should be a doozy!

  14. Mary here, checking in....

SacBarb, I'm pretty sure none of us expected to win the big lottery, but just a few thousand would have been nice lol! I didn't go crazy buying tickets with the odds being soooo high!
I would have bought us owls the old "owl mansion" we used to talk about. A place where we could all get together anytime we wanted.Free flights year round :)

Dianne, It is still terribly hot here! I can take the heat, just not the high humidity!
I got my hair cut & colored last Fri. Zoie gets groomed on Monday. Her grooming is almost as expensive as mine lol!

If all goes well, Jim & I will be going to Vegas Aug. 18. It will be a short trip. We will be back the 20th. I say "if all goes well", because this airline "Allegiant Air", has bee known to cancel flights lately. We have never been cancelled before. Every day Jim asks "Have we been canceled yet?" lol!!!
He has been walking longer distances everyday in preparation. Those airports can be grueling!
I don't worry about him once we are at the Casino hotel. He has many places in there to stop and rest.

  15. Barb I think you're confused. DWTS was an ABC show which is owned by Disney so that's why it will be on Disney+ now. I don't care about DWTS enough to pay to get the Disney+ channel. Peacock is the affiliate of NBC (peacock logo). Paramount+ is an affiliate of CBS and used to be called CBS All Access. I don't care to pay for that one, either. Peacock I get for free with my Xfinity.

I agree that the two bachelorettes at the same time has not been working out well. It's especially not working out well for Rachel as too many of the guys are preferring to woo Gabby. That could certainly give a girl a complex.

  16. Mary Ooh! Fun last minute Vegas trip. Would Jim be amendable to using a wheelchair in the airport? I used one when my back went out right as i was preparing to leave for the airport. Remember that, Barb? What crappy timing that was but the wheelchair was a Godsend.
LOL @ Have we been canceled yet?

Our weather continues to be mild and sometimes overcast, sometimes drizzle. It was an overcast day yesterday for the Dog World Surfing Championships at my local beach. I made sure I didn't need to go anywhere near the Coast Highway because I knew the highway would be very heavy with traffic and parking anywhere, including Safeway parking lot, would be packed due to beach goers. All the doggies wear life vests and seem to enjoy the ride on the surf.

  17. Dianne It seems to me they have some kind of country music show on every 2 or 3 months.

I was never much of a shopper so I can't say that I miss mall shopping. The only thing is that it was nice to try stuff on right at the store so you knew how it looked and fit before purchasing. Having to return things by mail, although relatively easy, is still time consuming and means there was a disappointment.

It sounds like you've had some nice meals out. My friend invited me over for beef stroganoff which was served on mashed potatoes. So good! I was bringing dessert so I made a chocolate sheet cake with peanut butter frosting. OMG! If you like peanut butter, this frosting is so addictive. Thankfully, the cake is all gone now or I'd still be eating it. I wonder why I don't lose weight? LOL

Keeping my fingers crossed that Tammy is spared from the lay offs.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Jane and I went to see Where the Crawdads Sing. It was a good movie. I had read the book a while ago and it was a good read, also.

  18. JL, I just realized that I had DWTS move wrong. Sorry. I guess I confused it with DOOL.
