This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Dianne Here I am! Sorry it took so long for me to get here. Watching those 3 dogs was like a full time job for me. Sookie wasn't done with her shenanigans after she went on her adventure. About a week or so after that, she got sprayed by a skunk. Lordy! I picked up very heavy cobblestones and placed them at the spots along the fence where skunks could come under the fence into my yard. My back and sciatica are really, really annoyed about that. My daughter returned from her 2 week trip to Ireland on Saturday night. Her flight was delayed so she didn't get in until after dark and I can definitely say I do not like driving on the freeway at night. The headlights really bother me. Plus, there was a patch of fog to drive through. I had her do the driving to get home. Boy, were her dogs happy to see her! Btw, I did tell her about the "incident" once she was home.
I didn't like having two bachelorettes at the same time. There were times when the guys had to choose which one they preferred to pursue and that felt hurtful to the other one. The set-up didn't feel fair to anybody.
Mary I never know what weather to expect around here. We were having some unusually hot days then, Sunday before last, we had a storm and a lot of much needed rain. The wind broke off several branches from the tree in my front yard. Some were quite long so I carried them and put them in a pile in front of my garage. The gardener will take them the next time he's here. Carrying the branches added to my aching back issues I got from carrying around cobblestones.
I hope you're able to get your driveway done before your Michigan winter weather arrives. I would be like a fish out of water if I had to deal with your snowy winters.
Does your family like peanut butter? I have a recipe for peanut butter frosting that is soooo good and addictive. On the day my daughter returned from her trip, I made a sheet cake from a Betty Crocker mix ( I think it was called Triple Fudge Chocolate) and made the peanut butter frosting for it. OMG! My daughter and I are obsessed with it.
Barb Has the air in your area improved now? So far, I think California's fire season has not been as bad as they feared it would be so that's good, at least. It's very overcast and cool right now. Fall is definitely in the air.
Right before my daughter left Eugene to drive down here, she put a bid in on a house and it looks like she got it. Yay for her! She's been obsessing over paint colors, flooring, etc., because she wants to completely re-do the kitchen first thing. It is currently mauve, including the countertops. She knows what countertops she wants and she'll be replacing all the cabinetry, too. So many decisions to make. She'd like to get all that done before she actually moves in. It's in a nice neighborhood of Eugene, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, large kitchen and dining area, fireplace, and a nice size yard for the dogs. Very excited for her.
JustLin, I would love the PB recipe! It would be a nice change from choc. or Vanilla.
I would scold you for doing the lifting and hurting yourself, but I do it all the time! Just the other day I lifted a heavy chair over my head (in the garage) so I wouldn't scratch my Jeep getting it out. Of course, My shoulder is now hurting! I will be putting all the patio furniture away to the lower garage soon. I do it every year with no help. It gets done on MY time lol!
I have been worried about the people of Florida. I have family and friends down there. It must be hard evacuating and not knowing what is happening to your home.
Two more days until Ringo! I wish they had matinees for us old folks lol. The show doesn't start until 8pm and its over an hour drive. Oh well, at least no snow storms in the near future lol!
Hi…cake sounds yummy. Look at my friends sharing recipes.
Mary, how was ringo? Did u haVe fun? Did u go by yourself? Won’t Matthew help u with lifting things? Between the two of you it wouldn’t be so hard with you both. I’d like to Go see Kane Brown but tickets are very $200….too pricy for me.
We leave for Branson a week from today. I need to start packing. I do have my list all ready and things in my mind. Yesterday louis and I took a drive in the mountains to see the colors changed. It was so pretty…all the aspen colors. We ended up in Estes Park and met our friends that live there for lunch. It was a nice afternoon. Today went to lunch with barb. We r having fall weather today. Love it…back in the 80’s tmrw.
JL, very exciting for your daughter. I hope it all works out for her. The house sounds really nice. It’s exciting to get your own house.
Barb, what r u doing? Rewrite your lost blog. Would love to hear an update from you. We never hear from Bev or seaside anymore. At least bev writes sometimes. I hope seaside is ok
Louis is watching college football all day…boring. I watched dateline last Night and it was about a denver lady and I remembered the story. Pretty interesting. Oh..btw, Kayla’s last loser boyfriend Ben moved to South Carolina with a girlfriend Well, he robbed a guy for a intendo thing. He gave the guy fake $300 and the guy realized it. Ben ran away to his girlfriends car. The guy followed him. Ben crashed the car and was hurt with head injury but got out of wrecked car and stole the victims car. He got caught and was arrested for car theft, robbery, etc. i guess he ended up in icu for a few days. The girlfriend doesn’t want anything to do with him. Kayla had pictures of him and car and news article. She does the moms hair so she found out. I hope she realizes how awful these by are and thank GOD she wasn’t with him anymore. It doesn’t surprise me with him. I feel kind of bad for the parents. Kayla thinks he’s on Meth wouldn’t surprise me.
So that’s my updated news for the day hope to hear from you all soon. .
Wow, I am so glad Kayla is out of that mess! I am Sad for any Mother who has adult children go so bad! I had two sons and happily proud of them and my two step sons. Matthew and Jim have back and neck issues. They help when they can, but being a woman, you know we tend to over do! I envy all your trips! I miss traveling with you gals! I really don't feel confident leaving Zoie with Jim. He is not patient with her. Matthew does good, but he has weird hours and naps in between. He has diabetes and needs lots of rest.
Ringo was great. His band was awesome and played for most of the show. I wondered why he didn't sing more until I heard that he canceled a few of his upcoming venues because he took ill & couldn't sing. He is 83! My poor Beatles are old :( ....Me too lol!! Jim did drive me up. He gambled while I was at the concert.
Kane is coming to Michigan too. I haven't checked on ticket prices. I don't go if it is too far away, especially during the winter months. Johnny Mathis will be doing a Christmas show at the Indian Casino. I have seen him once and would love to see him again. Not sure yet.
Well, my daughter left on Saturday morning and that was kind of sad. I will miss her and the 3 dogs. The rest of my day was great, though. My friend Jane gets season theater tickets along with her son's mother-in-law and 2 of her friends. Anyway, one of those friends ended up getting COVID after a recent trip so was unable to go to the matinee that day so I was able to buy her ticket from her for half price. The play was "To Kill a Mockingbird" starring Richard Thomas (John Boy) as Atticus Finch. The play was absolutely fabulous. An interesting note is that an actress who played the part of a crabby neighbor, played the part of Scout in the movie with Gregory Peck. She was 10 years old at the time and was nominated for an Oscar. When walking from the parking garage to the theater, we had to cross through a huge protest march regarding the fatal killing of the Iranian woman who didn't wear her head scarf in a way that satisfied their Mortality Police. As I was weaving my way through the moving crowd, I joined in their chant, "Say her name! Masha Amini!" That was the first protest I ever joined in person, even if it was only for a minute or two. If Mary is still sick on Tuesday, I'll get to go to the matinee performance of "Moulin Rouge". Is it bad if I have my fingers crossed? LOL
Mary We were typing at the same time. I was wondering about your Ringo concert. From what I read, I think he cancelled concerts right after the one you went to. I guess you were lucky to see him. Oh, I love Johnny Mathis. I've seen him a couple of times in my life. He can sing anything and make it sound like a love song. I used to have a giant poster of his face on my wall as a teenager and would listen to his albums over and over again. I think you should get a ticket for Johnny. Like you said, we're all getting older.
Dianne Your trip is coming up fast. I guess Louis feels he's good for all that driving. You should having packing down to a science at this point.
Speaking of packing... The other evening, right as it was getting dark, daughter was packing some of her stuff in the back of her SUV which was parked in front of my house, when a coyote ran by. I hear them sometimes late at night, yipping and howling in the distance. I've only seen one running on my street before but it must happen more than I realize.
I'm also really glad Kayla isn't with that screwed up guy anymore. I actually wish she wasn't doing his mother's hair, either, and had a complete break from that connection and drama.
Hello! Yes, I am alive and I made a commitment to Dianne to read and post today!! Lots of stuff going on here!
Dianne - thanks for nudging me so thoroughly! hehe....so glad that Kayla got away from that awful man! People are crazy and that is so scary what he did. When do you leave for your trip? The trip to see the Fall leaves sounds nice. It is so pretty this time of year here.
Linda - Glad you had a nice visit with your daughter. Congratulations to her on the house! It sounds wonderful.
Mary - Glad you have fun at your concert! Sorry he didn't sing enough but at least he didn't cancel. I know what you mean about doing things at our own pace when it comes to moving heavy stuff around.
ALL of us need to be careful doing the moving around of heavy stuff...uggh. I always told a friend of mine that I would just like to have a man to carry my shit. lol.
I have been so busy. Volunteering for Junior Achievement for Bri's class, campaigning for a school board candidate, taking care of Bri, working 40 hours & more. My life is so hectic right now. It is all so good and so fun. Also, on top of that always feeling guilty about not seeing my Mom enough. I spent the afternoon with her today and moved a ladder and power washer into her shed for her. And, we got Papa John's since Bardstown was having an arts & crafts festival and traffic was awful!!
Anyway, good to check in with everyone! Sorry this is rush in and rush out! lol....
Hi all, just checking in. It is cooling off here and windy, but still pleasant. I just wish the leaves didn't look like dog poop, and the dog poop didn't look like leaves! That is all!
Hi…here I am in Branson we leave for home on Sunday. I love it here. So fun. Our ARBNB is really nice. Not handicap but no stairs, bars in shower and by toilet so it works. Louis is struggling. saw TTT yesterday. Great new show. Weather is perfect. I really would like to live here in the winter. We have two shows today and two tmrw. Loving the food too. We went to Paula deans for lunch…so good. How r all of you doing? Nice to see you Bev. I wish seaside would check in. It’s been a long time Bev..you sound very busy. Glad ur seem to be enjoying yourself. Mary. Id go to that concert. JL, did you get to go to other show?

Mary Here ya go:
PEANUT BUTTER FROSTING
Blend together:
1 cube of butter, softened
1 cup of creamy peanut butter
2 tsp vanilla
Add:
2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
3-4 Tablespoons of milk
Thanks Justlin. I copied and pasted to my word pad.
I will probably only make a half batch. just in case I mess it up lol!
Mary. It's a good amount for a 9x13 sheet cake. Especially tasty on nice dark chocolate cake.
