Going to Home Depot

 by Dianne

You are in the middle of some home projects: putting in a new fence, painting the porch, planting some flowers and fixing a broken door lock. You are hot and sweaty, covered with dirt, lawn clippings and paint. You have your old work clothes on. You know the outfit -- shorts with a hole in the crotch, an old T-shirt with a stain from who-knows-what, and an old pair of tennis shoes. Right in the middle of these tasks you realize that you need to run to Home Depot for supplies. Depending on your age you might do the following:

In your 20's: Stop what you are doing.  Shave, take a shower, blow dry your hair, brush your teeth, floss and put on clean clothes. Check yourself in the mirror and flex.  Add a dab of your favorite cologne because, you never know, you just might meet some hot chick while standing in the checkout line.  And yes, you went to school with the pretty girl running the register.

In your 30's:   Stop what you are doing, put on clean shorts and shirt. Change your shoes.  You married the hot chick so no need for much else.  Wash your hands and comb your hair.  Check yourself in the mirror   Still got it!  Add a shot of your favorite cologne to cover the smell.  The cute girl running the register is the kid sister of someone you went to school with.

In your 40's:  Stop what you are doing.  Put on a sweatshirt that is long enough to cover the hole in the crotch of your shorts.  Put on different shoes and a hat.  Wash your hands.  Your bottle of Brut is almost empty, so don't waste any of it on a trip to Home Depot.  Check yourself in the mirror and do more sucking in than flexing.  The hot young thing running the register is your daughter's age and you feel weird about thinking she's spicy.

In your 50's:  Stop what you are doing.  Put on a hat.  Wipe the dirt off your hands onto your shirt.   Change shoes because you don't want to get dog crap in your new sports car.  Check yourself in the mirror and swear not to wear that shirt anymore because it makes you look fat. The cutie running the register smiles when she sees you coming and you think you still have it.  Then you remember -- the hat you have on is from Bubba's Bait & Beer Bar and it says,  'I Got Worms '.

In your 60's: Stop what you are doing.  No need for a hat any more.  Hose the dog crap off your shoes. The mirror was shattered when you were in your 50's.  You hope you have underwear on so nothing hangs out the hole in your pants.  The girl running the register may be cute but you don't have your glasses on, so you're not sure.

In your 70's: Stop what you are doing.  Wait to go to Home Depot until you call the drug store to have your prescriptions ready for pick too and check your grocery list for a quick stop there.  Got to save trips!  Don't even notice the dog crap on your shoes. The young thing at the register stares at you and you realize your balls are hanging out the hole in your crotch . . . who cares?

In your 80's: Stop what you are doing.  Start again.  Then stop again.  Now you remember you need to go to Home Depot.  You go to Wal-Mart instead.  You went to school with the old lady greeter.  You wander around trying to remember what you are looking for. Then you fart out loud and turn around thinking someone called your name

In your 90's and beyond: What's a home deep hoe?   Something for my garden?  Where am I?  Who am I?   Why am I reading this?  Did I send it?   Did you?   Who farted?

I can relate to some of these things.

Well, that was a knee slapper lol! I have seen the old guy with his balls hanging out in Vegas. His shorts were waaaay too short and he had his legs spread on one of those high type chairs. I still can't "unsee it!" @@

Hi….HERE I AM BACK. the concert was fun once the sun went down. I missed all of Little Big Town sitting in the hallway. I was able to go in for Chris Stapleton and George. Stapleton is not my favorite he’s ok but don’t know many of his songs. I was there for George. He sang from 9-11:30. It was a beautiful night and lots of songs amarillo,by morning was a funeral song when joe died. He loved to sing it at karaoke. Parking was good…Tammy got a vip handicap spot for $50 right by stadium. It was fun and Tammy helps so much. I just don’t think I can really do that venue again. It was just hard for me. I loved spending time with Tammy

That’s anutball that is new here. I did see primary Dr and heart Dr yesterday. I have fluid in my heart and that’s causing me not to breathe. I’m on a new medicine inwill, have an echo in august and see the heart dr then. I see pulmonary the end of July. I keep gaining weight and Dr says it is the fluid I have in me so trying to get out of me and why I have it. Crazy did an emergency blood test that was supposed the be a rush and it wasn’t rushed and it was normal Nw I just wait. Los is doing pretty good. His last pt was today.
I’m just writing boring things about my self tonight sorry

Hi Happy 4th of July! What r u all up to tmrw? Anything fun? We’re going to lunch with my aunt and uncle. Hmm seems like we already talked about this last month! Long time ago. I hear a lot of fire works going off tonight. I think the park by our house is having a display tonight. I’d like to go and see them somewhere but a lot of issues getting in to places. My friend pat and her granddaughter came over this am. She’s my Christmas wrapper. She cleaned my baseboards for me today. I paid too. My cleaning lady can’t get off the floor any more. She cleaned my big mantle too. She’s 13 and wants money. It’s well worth it. It’s 90 here with storms tmrw and going down to 70.

Louis Leaves two weeks from today. He’s nervous but the dr put him on anxiety meds this week so hopefully that will help. I’m nervous too. I’ll be glad when he arrives. He has to change plains at JFK. I’ll be glad when he arrives safely.

Barb, how’s sister things going? Jl, did u see any movies at theater or home lately? I plan on watching some while Louis is gone but mostly listening to music with no tv on. Aww not shooting movies…relief. I’m a little concerned about bringing food, drink, and oxygen in by myself. I’m going to think that over.

Mary , didn’t mean to scare you with my text!

Here I am. Not much happening in my life so that's why I didn't comment sooner.

The turkey walked by my house today. I hadn't seen any turkeys for a while but it seems they are still around. I'd much rather have turkeys strolling down the street than have another skunk visit.

Tomorrow I will be participating in the neighborhood party. It's been requested that I make my baked beans so I'll be doing that. There will be plenty of good food and games and activities in the street. It's been warm lately but I hope it's not too warm tomorrow. Now that I have that skin cancer on my scalp, I'm more concerned about spending a lot of time in the sun. I normally don't sit out in the sun, anyway, as my body doesn't have a good cooling system.

Yesterday I went out to dinner with Jane. It would have been her 57th wedding anniversary. We went to a small Italian restaurant and my prawn dinner was delicious as was the creme brulee I had for dessert.

Wednesday I am having my nails done and Jane is coming over for dinner and tv night. Right now we've been watching episodes of A Small Light. It's about the woman who hid Anne Frank's family. Thursday I get my hair cut and Friday I have the surgery on my scalp. Not looking forward to that. Jane is going with me for moral support.

Hope everyone has a nice July 4.
