This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Just wondering where everyone is. We have been having terrible weather! Low temps and lots of snow. We are expecting another storm tonight into tomorrow. Luckily Matthew's school has Monday off. They are allotted so many days off for snow days. They still had 3 left to use. Monday is just a bonus day. Jim has been having a terrible time with his breathing. The cold air really makes his breathing difficult. I keep telling him to wear a scarf around his neck and to breathe through it off & on. I keep a scarf right by the door for him, but never uses it. Barely drinks water. I swear!
Hi…I’m here. Sorry I haven’t posted for awhile….looks like none of us have posted. We went with Tammy and James to a little place by r house and Louis did good going out. We have a trip to Colo Spgs planned for a long time to see The Texas Tenors. First time in Colo. Louis has decided he can’t go with his bladder. He goes about every hour and a half. Tammy is going with me for the weekend. I have some friend going to the show too. I’m a little concerned leaving him for a weekend without a car but he says he’ll be fine. He’s doing pretty good with his exercises and his PT and OT.. they both come twice a week. Mary, we’ve Ben having snow and freezing. Two nights ago it snowed a foot at r house it melted pretty good yesterday at least on the roads. Supposed to go up to 70 this weekend. I’m so sick of the bad weather. I’m so ready for spring! I worked on taxes all afternoon yesterday to send the m to r tax guy. That took a long time. I’ve putting it off so now that’s almost done That’s about all I have today. Still haven’t gotten our car back from dealer. It will be three weeks Wednesday. They said hopefully this Tuesday all for a check engine light. It was a sensor shorting out so they had to order the part. This car I’m driving is a GMC Acadia. It’s a huge bus. Barely could fit it in garage. Our car is that too but this one is brand new and much larger than ours. Louis isn’t driving at all any more. I’m very surprised Ok…I’m going to go nudge the others. .
Hello everyone. Sorry I haven’t posted. We’re very busy still cleaning out my sister’s house. I’ve contacted an estate sale company and they will hold a sale at her house. They take 50% but it’s better than us having to figure out what to do with all her stuff. I think I told you, she was a hoarder. I can’t believe some of the stuff we’ve found. We even had some laughs over what she kept. Apparently, she never got rid of ANYTHING!!! Plus, we are trying to sell my old car. Someone is coming to look at it today. 🤞 I’ve had some doctor appointments and my surgery to replace my right shoulder has been scheduled for May 5. I will be so happy to get that done. My left shoulder is doing great. I have absolutely no pain. Looking forward to the same for the right shoulder.
Dianne, I’m glad Louis is home and doing OK. PT and OT should help a lot.
Mary, I’m sorry Jim is still having breathing problems. I keep praying he will get better. I actually pray for all the owls and their families every day. We all need all the help we can get!
Hello, ladies. here I am. I was going to add, "none the worse for wear" but that isn't entirely true. I'm still having issues with my eyes in that I keep having these bouts of vertigo, with and without having my glasses on. I can't blame the glasses now that they have been adjusted and readjusted to the point that I think the optometrist is feeling frustrated with me. I did hit the top of my head really, really hard a few days before my cataract surgery so maybe I injured my brain. I have a doctor appointment on Tuesday. I will have many days in a row with no episodes and then have a day with more than one episode. It's puzzling. I feel perfectly fine in between these events and the events themselves last shorter than a minute, sometimes only a couple of seconds. Anyway, that's my life right now.
Tomorrow Jane and I will go get cheesesteaks for lunch as a kind of remembrance of her husband who will have passed away 5 years ago. Whenever they were going into the city (San Francisco) for cheesesteaks, they'd give me a call to go with them. It became our little ritual. Now The Cheesesteak Shop has a shop here in town so we will just go there now and them come back to my house and watch The Brutalist. We enjoy watching the Academy Awards together so try to catch as many of the nominees that we can.
Mary, you sure have your hands full. As someone with asthma, I know that cold weather really acerbates it. It would be helpful if Jim would breathe through the scarf when outside in the cold but then he'd have a hard time smoking through it, wouldn't he? He's choosing the cigarette. Don't you just want to smack that cigarette out of his hand?
Barb, I think that's a good decision to have an estate sale of your sister's stuff. You don't need the hassle and worry of dealing with it. Giving up the 50% seems well worth it in my book. It looks like I'm going to have my daughter's dogs here again in June. She and her boyfriend have been invited by her new job to go on a work retreat to Cabo. Hopefully, we won't have a repeat of the skunking incident. Also, hoping my head will be fixed by then.
Dianne, I'm so glad that Louis is doing better. That will be a fun weekend for you and Tammy to go to the Texas Tenors show. I'm glad you won't miss it. How much of a drive will that be for you? Maybe James can check in on Louis while you're gone.
Dianne, it's not apartments going in above the houses across the street from me. It's two $7 million dollar homes. They've been clearing all the trees from the land and grading the ground. They start work at 8 a.m. every day, Mon-Sat. It wakes me up. Supposedly, the person who purchased the land is planning on selling one and living in whichever one didn't sell first. I can see the artist renderings of what the houses will look like by Googling the addresses; 1693 and 1695 Higgins Way, Pacifica, CA. They're ridiculous.
Mary, well cheesecakes are good but that's not where Jane and I are going. It's cheesesteaks we are after which is a kind of hot sandwich. They're really tasty and I like mine with mushrooms and both hot and sweet peppers. We usually share an order of curly fries, too.
