The man famous for his “Worst dressed list” has passed away. I often laughed at his comments and thoughts on various celebs and their attire. I will miss the chuckles and my feeling of being ‘catty’ when I agreed with his assessments. RIP Mr. Blackwell.
This makes me think about where I would be on the list. Certainly I am not the worst dressed, but I won’t make any fashion magazine anytime soon. You see, something happened to me. Middle age. While a part of me still strives to look presentable and even a bit fashionable when in public, the other side of me just doesn’t care.
I don’t do high heels and I go for comfort above all else. So my shoes are mostly Born’s or Clarks. I keep a pair of slippers under my desk and wear them around the office if no clients are in. I keep a sweater nearby in case I get cold. I don’t do feathers, sequins or 20 pounds of jewelry. My jeans are not falling off my hips and my belly is not bare.
I wear sweats and fuzzy slippers at home, with no bra. So if you come to my door- well you are in for a treat! I wear jeans that have stretch to them and shirts that are not clingy and tight. I don’t feel the need to show cleavage when it is 20 below zero- I bundle up from top to bottom and my boots don’t have 3 inch heels on them! My underwear stays in place because I have enough fabric to cover all my butt, no string up the middle.
I am the vanilla in a chocolate world of fashion. So I guess I do know where I fall on the list. I wouldn’t make the list- no one would notice me! In my humble opinion, that is a good thing.
However, there has been a time or two when I look back and think- OMG what was I thinking! Like the time I wore a pair of red and black velvet pants with a black see-thru blouse over a black bra. That was definitely one of those “happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” outfits!
Anything you wore thinking you were ‘all it’ and now wish it was all a bad dream?

Ha Ha First! LOL
Damn you LynnD...
Just kidding... was trying for 2 in a row!!!!
Good Morning LYNND!! Congrats on FIRST!
GOLDIE: I have always been a jeans, comfortable shoes, casual shirt kinda gal. Never liked dressing up at all. My mom had to remind me two weeks before my wedding that I REALLY needed to look for a dress!!! At that point it was buy off the rack, or back to the jeans...lol!! Oh...I DID find a dress...wasn't thrilled with it though. If I had it to do over again, I think I'd pay more attention...cuz the pics..OMG!!
As for Mr. Blackwell..he always made me laugh too. Great blog GOLDIE!!
Good Morning IBB!!
Morning Glories!
Ha I beat you IBB! Neener Neener Neener! LMAO!
Oh Goldie the fashion that I have worn over the years! I have always loved clothes but I am a quirky one, in my late teens and early twenties I had a love affair with vintage clothes. Mostly from the forties and if I do say so myself I had the body then for them and people were always asking where I got them.
I was the best dressed senior in High School and probably was dressing more mature than my years.
I kept up this affair until I was about 38. Then I discovered that I just could not put on one more piece of clothing that dug at me or squeezed me or itched etc... It would drive crazy.
So now I like you dress for comfort! On a good day you will see me in jeans (with stretch) and any clean comfortable shirt. My underwear covers my ass also and I just can't take any with the string or might roll down over my voluptous belly! If I wear a bra, (usually when I leave my home) it has no underwires and I have since given up on the push up effect. Frankly it just scares me to see the two round melons staring back at me when I wear one! Having been an A cup until I had children it just does not seem natural to be wearing a D cup now. As far as cleavage I just don't think there is anyone interested in seeing mine!
Fashion disasters as I look back, well I think stirrup pants were just horrible! Tho at the time I wore them everywhere! Why did I think those looked good on anybody?
I also remember my first formal dance in high school that I was asked to and had an Aunt make a dress that was very victorian in feel. I then went and had my hair done up like a Gibson girl to go with the dress. I look at the picture now and laugh my ass off! I look like my Great Grandmother in that picture.
I have had a Janet Jackson moment, a wardrobe malfunction if you will. I had a beautiful blouse I bought one year when I had just started dating Mr. Lynn D. It was white with lace insets on the shoulders and lace around the high neck collar with beautiful pearl buttons down the front and on the cuffs. I wore it to a winter party we had been invited to with many of our co-workers. Everyone was having a great time. I went into the full kitchen to open another bottle of wine, when I realized everyone in there got a little quiet and then I noticed this guy named Peter who worked with us was blushing and staring at me! I looked around and my friend Brenda had a huge grin on her face and was trying not to laugh out loud.
What the hell? I looked at her and raised my eyebrows and she pointed to the front of my shirt. I looked down and the whole thing had come unbuttoned and was gaping wide open! Thank god I had a pretty and clean bra on! LMAO Holy crap I was baring it all! I was so startled I dropped my glass of wine in a kitchen drawer that was open!
Damn Brenda started laughing her ass off and Peter just stood gaping at me as I was trying to get all of those damn pearl buttons refastened!
Moral to the story never buy any shirt with pearl buttons! Ever!
Funny thing tho all the guys at work were really friendly to me after that!
Good MORNING! Zona! (((Hugs)))
Good Morning Lynn, De EarlyBird, IBB & Zona and everyone else yet to swoop!
Goldie~~ It always seems when the Entertainment/Style Shows REALLY want to embarrass a celebrity, they drag out pics or videos from the mid-80s, and ask "What WERE you thinkin'?"
OK, True Confession. I still think mid-80's fashion was THE BEST EVER!
*Big, colorful sweaters
*Corduroy knickers over butter-soft leather knee-high boots
*Oversize 'guy' shirts with 3" wide belts or 'Flashdance boatneck sweatshirts over skinny jeans
*Professional attire with square shoulders, crisp white shirts and short scarf ties.....AND....
Did anything ever look better than Crockett & Tubbs in pastel t-shirts, unstructured white blazers, and loafers (no socks!)? Don't think so!
Goldie... great blog...
LynnD congrats on 1st....
where did you go... just hit and run!???
Morning Zona!!!!!
Goldie...
I would probably not be on the list either...
when I worked at Dialysis I loved scrubs... had way tooooo many pair... each top had matching pants... hubby used to call me the "fashion plate of FR dialysis..."... he cracks me up...
I try to look presentable.... but I am into comfort now-a-days...
I wear crocs on my feet everyday.... almost every occasion...
and tight fitting went out the window when i gained 50 pounds when I quit smoking!!!!
so RIP mr. Blackwell... i will miss your list ....
Hope evryone has a great day....
working .. so may be "pooping" LOL...Popping...in and out today!!!!
Congrats on 1st and good morning Lynn D!
Good morning Ibb and Zona.
Goldie, fashion has never been a big concern for me. I have always been overweight so it has always been hard for me to find clothes that looked good and fit. I don't have any jewelry to wear and I have never owned a pair of high heels. I've never even wore makeup. Glitz and glamor is not in my future. I'm afraid I would have been at the top of Mr. Blackwell's list.
Oh come on Bon! The sexiest ever where the 70's men's polyester Leisure suits with those colorful polyester shirts underneath! Every man I knew had one of those babies! Powder blue was the best! ROFLMAO
Good morning BonO....
Morning Shirley!!!!!!!!
I just went to My Space... Thanks Bon!!!!!!!
Damn that looks good!!!!!!!!!!!
Lynn~~Oh, how I remember "gettin' DOWN!!" at the Clubs in the 70's-----guys in leisure suits and us in hot pants. OMG, too much booze, air blue with smoke, hot crowded dance floors full of folks wearing clothes that didn't 'breathe'.....come to think of it, I remember "inhaling", but actually breathing, not so much!
Good Morning Hooters!
congrats on 1st Lynn!!
Hi Zona (hugs),IBB and Shirley!!
I have another fashion failure story. Was in a wedding in the 70's as a bridesmaid. Our "dresses" were actually blue velveteen knickers with a big billowy white blouse and blue vest. We all wore knee high boots and a halo of blue flowers on our head. OMG-even then we girls could have died. The kicker was that the bride's wedding dress was green. Oy!
I am having fun already reading your stuff.
Hi bon bon!!!
LYNND: My dad had one of those powder blue leisure suits!! AND cowboy boots!!!! ;)
BON'O: My BIL ruined the whole Don Johnson Miami Vice look for me..he wore that white suit of his ALL THE TIME...and he DID NOT look good in it!!! ;)
SHIRLEY: Good Morning Sunshine! You may not have jewelry or high heels..but you have the sweetest personality, and a wonderful sense of humor..and that, my friend makes you the beautiful person you are. :)
GOLDIE: OMG..did they play the Wedding March on a harpsichord??!!! ;)
Zona- it was an outdoor wedding in a park full of bees and I think the music was from a portable radio. We could have been a coca-cola commercial it was so cheesy.:)
And how she came up with blue for us and a GREEN wedding dress for her was beyond comprehension.
Somewhere in the bowels of basement in a box is a pic. I will try to find it and post it.
Goldie:
I love today's blog! Love it!!!
I will be back in a moment to comment...
:)
Thanks, Goldie...
Zona if you're fishing for quarters I am fresh out. Lol! Thanks.
Oh, and a good morning to you Bonnie. Thanks for breakfast.
OMG!!! You guys are cracking me up! What I NEVER understood was how women could go shopping at the mall in high heels! I actually saw a woman at the Big E (very large fair) walking around in 4 inch heels! I don't think I would have made it out of the parking lot in them. Don't get me wrong, I love high heels and being rather short, I certainly could use them, but I could never wear them. Whenever I did, I spent the whole time thinking about how bad my feet hurt.
LOL @ Zona/Goldie..uh, G., that pretty much took care of my fashionable knicker/boot memory :-)
IBB & Shirley~~YW! It's not often I'm up early enough to make breakfast for the East Coast contingent.
GOLDIE: Oh my...in a park full of bees yet...YIKES!! Blue and green...maybe it was an water, earth and sky thing.. ;)
HI CPGEM!!
SHIRLEY: No fishing...
SCIRISH: I'm tall, so I've never worn any kind of heels...besides, I trip in bare feet..I'd break my frickin' neck in heels! :)
I am having a hard time coming up with my worst outfit....There were so many to choose from! :) I guess it would have to be the wool (!) gaucho pants with vertical earth tone stripes OR the hunter green (also wool) knickers from Germany...very Tyrolean...
I did do the whole stirrup pants thing too, along with high waisted crushed corduroy "skinny" pants and lets not forget, over-alls and rompers.
I do believe Mr. Blackwell woulda had a field day with me!
Ok I am so LMAO at the images here!
Zona I think everyones Dad had powder blue leisure suits! Except the more conservative men seemed to go for Brown! LOL
Goldie, Scrishy, Bon I truly never understood the knickers or gaucho pant thing! Never owned them I just thought they looked horrible on everyone! LOL I had a friend that wore the knickers all the time and she was knock kneed it looked really goofy!
I confess I had a T-shirt I bought once in high school mainly to piss my Dad off. He took one look and told me to get rid of it!! What did I do? I snuck it out and wore it to a dance and had my picture taken with my date. Ooops had to hide the photo for years! The shirt said "Satisfaction Guaranteed"! OMG I am laughing so hard I have tears running!
Hey I did not buy the one that said "Shake my Peaches"! I had some class!
Let's see... channeling Mr Blackwell:
Top ten worst dressed in the nest:
1. Lynn D: A buttoned-down bra-baring debacle.
ROFLMAO@myself!
I must admit I did learn, rather quickly, to NEVER wear overalls when beer drinking was going to commence!
Good Morning Lynn and Ibebold. I see we had a race for first. It was very, very close but congratulations to Lynn.
IBB, I bet you get it tomorrow. I remember when I was up early enough to also be a contender. Sometimes I would sit there for half an hour waiting for it to change. In the time it would take me to refresh someone would slip in. I think that happened once to Bear too. I actually find the extra hour of sleep that Tia is now giving me more fun than being first. I don't know what will happen with my babies' inner clock when the time goes back.
Good Morning Zona-my-baby,
Bon'O, Goldie, Carol, Scirish, Shirley and last but never least The Bear Himself.
Zona - I am going to listen to you dear daughter and eat my breakfast before I read the blog and comments. I will see if that helps my tummy. I will be back in about an hour.
TINKA: I'm glad you are eating before reading today! :)
LYNND: My dad had a brown leisure suit too..maybe he was trying to find his 'wild' side when he wore the blue?? ;)
SCIRISH: Why would you not wear overalls when drinking?? Wait...why would you wear something other than overalls when drinking beer??
DIANNE F/AREA 51: I won't say it..I won't..I won't...I won't..SWAK!! ;)
33
Happy Tuesday!!
Good morning, everyone!!!
Lynn D - congrats on FIRST... LOL
IBB - you were a minute late!!
waving howdy to Lynn D, IBB, Zona, Bono, Shirley, Goldie, cpgem, Scirish, Whabby, Tinka, and all who land..
Goldie - great blog - I will have to think about my worse dressed day and get back to you...
I'm off for a busy morning - will be back this afternoon..
i hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
and I'll have to time to read the comments when i get home also!!
bbl
Coveralls while drinking and peeing do not make for a great team lol!!
zona..lol...but.. 1 beer..wait 1/2 half hour...pee 3 times...all that unbuttoning and buttoning...a pain in the butt.
Goldie, what a fun blog! I used to wear clunky platform shoes with bell bottoms. I am 5 ft nothing. I'm sure I thought I was cool! I remember a particular pair of shiny pat-n-leather red, white & blue shoes. I loved them! My one outfit I wore in school & hated was a plaid "jumper" with a white blouse underneath. I remember wearing Mary Jane shoes and brown penny loafers.
Hi everybody!
Very busy but had to comment on today's blog -- love IT!
My sister had a t-shirt in high school that had a sign that read, "All Deliveries In Rear". The one time she wore it to school the principal made her wear it inside out all day, LOL!
I am one of those who can't wear fashion. If I do manage by some miracle to pull together a chic outfit (I cheat and buy whatever ensemble the store mannequins are wearing), it ends up looking like a potato sack on me.
And as much as my head would like to wear high heels, my feet say no way. I hate shoe shopping because everything my eyes love, my feet hate and vice-versa. I have less shoes than my 23yo son!
I'm having a heckuva a time figuring out what to wear in NYC next week because I feel like the city has a dress code. Sort of like Oprah's audience - I swear they do a makeover for every person there.
We have tickets to see Regis & Kelly (unless tix for The View arrive before we leave), a taping of the Daily Show in the early evening, and a Broadway show that same night. The weather forecast is cold with possible showers. No problem, I can carry an umbrella but I'm pretty sure my standard rainy-day outfit (jeans, sweatshirt, and tennies) won't cut it. I'm still shopping for the perfect pullover sweater that's casual enough for being a tourist on the street but versatile enough for the studios & theatre.
I gotta pack for cold weather for the first 3 days, beach wear for the daytime for a week and a half, formal wear and "smart casual" wear for dinner, and a costume for the Halloween party. The airlines picked a fine time to impose that extra bag charge...and I gotta get all that stuff from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the cruise terminal?!! Oh my!
It's a good thing YH isn't worried about what he's wearing cuz I'm taking up his extra space in the luggage!
oh yeah...I remember overalls and drinking. LMAO @ how stupid I was making that choice on those nights .... but hey, I looked very cute (at least in my head)!!
Do you all remember the 70's when guys wore shirts that were unbuttoned half way down their chests with those hairy chests popping out for all to view. It was considered sexy to own all of that fur on one's chest. And men wore those heavy gold chokers.
Dreama, LOL @ the hairy chests on display. YH has all that but we keep his shirts buttoned up so as to keep the women from going into a frenzy around him (and the bears that think he's yummy too)!
When I was in my 20's I wore the spiked heels always no matter how much they made my feet hurt. I was quite the clothes-aholic back then also. I now wear high heels but the heels are thicker and only 2". I own red burgundy boots, brown boots, black knee high boots, biker boots, snow boots (even though we rarely see any snow)short black suede boots, and brown boots. I just ordered a pair of faux alligator leather ankle boots. I live in a tropical climate. I need an intervention!
Hi Outatunne!
Nice to see you again!
For Whabby, our ballots were mailed last week with a resounding "NO" on 8!
We were in Palo Alto & Mountain View this weekend and were sad to see so many "yes on 8" yard signs and bumper stickers. I usually don't let political stuff rule my impression of people and will politely agree to disagree but those signs upset me. So do the commercials that talk about how, if prop 8 is defeated, our children will be taught about gay marriage in schools.
Ummmmm....NO! If we're lucky, our nation's children will grow up with compassion and tolerance and kindness and equal rights for EVERYONE (which is how I raised my children) and what is so bloody wrong with that?
Okay, so I know I'm preaching to the choir. On that subject, I appreciate that our pastor is a human rights advocate who teaches love, not condemnation. I could not support a church that preaches judgement.
Ooops...sorry to be up on the soapbox today but I was out shopping for that elusive sweater all day Saturday and missed that blog.
I really AM busy today ... just can't seem to stay focused on work...got sweater shopping and a certain fuzzy chest on the brain!
PS, in pics taken of YH in the open shirt years, he's wearing polo shirts buttoned all the way up and looking like the super nerd that he is.
Dreama, I love boots and wish I could wear more of them now! I fantasize about them all the time. But *sigh* with my tree trunk legs and heavy calves (skinny ankles, go figure), they aren't really in the cards for me.
In my shit-kicker days back in Texas my favorite outfits included Rocky Mountain jeans and Ropers. I had pull-on Ropers in grey, burgundy, and navy and a couple pair of lace-up Ropers too.
I also had those butter-soft leather knee highs that bon'o spoke about that I planned most of my skirt or dress purchases around. Those boots were not cheap as I recall.
Today the only boot in my wardrobe is a hiking boot I bought for walking around Disneyland last summer. I may have looked dumb in my shorts and hiking boots and thick socks in ultra hot heat but my feet did not hurt once that whole trip. hmmmm, wondering how I can make those work for me in NYC...
Outatuune~~You prolly can't see me, since I'm here behind you in the choir loft :-) Wish Oregon could help!
Finishing/depositing my ballot today. Oregon is total vote-by-mail or dropbox, and there's so much on our ballot, it requires extra postage if mailed. Of course, folks are learning that the hard way when their ballot comes back. Hopefully, there's enough early media outcry, folks'll get it right.
MY SOAPBOX, which has room for people from ALL sides.......If we're the most technologically advanced nation, WHY, AFTER MULTIPLE BOTCHED ELECTIONS DO WE STILL NOT HAVE A STANDARDIZED NATIONWIDE CHEATPROOF VOTING SYSTEM?
Caryn: Thanks so much to you and Paul for your votes! We need every last one, and I'm still terrified that the "Yes" side is going to win.
I have the same reaction you do... Jim and I went to Redwood City to play a tennis match on Sunday, and one of the homes on the way had a "Yes on 8" sign. I seriously wanted to stop the car and rip it down.
It is so upsetting to see all this support for 8 even in the Bay Area. The Yes on 8 ad campaign is just despicable. Their ads do what anti-gay forces always do... they offer up the fact that kids might get exposed to that information as a de facto bad idea with no discussion, no examination... it's just simply common sense and truth that the information would be harmful.
But how, exactly? The truth is, such knowledge would be of great assistance to those kids who are growing up gay, and have absolutely NO IMPACT on the straight majority.
I wish there was a "No on 8" ad campaign saying that!
Anyway... I need to simmer down and get back to work and off my soapbox too. Meanwhile, though, thank heaven for people like you and Paul, and the people in your church!
GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON: LYNN D, IBEBOLD, ZONA, BON'O, SHIRLEY, GOLDIE, CAROL, SCIRISH, WHABBEAR, TINKATIA, MEK, MARY, OUTATUUNE, DREAMA,
Today's blog brought back a lot of memories clear back to my childhood closet. My mother mostly made my clothes, as we didn't have much money. There was a lot of plaid, including my glasses. A lot of teasing about the glasses. Does anyone remember the paper dresses in the 70's? I don't think I would even make Mr. Blackwell's worst dressed list. The last 30 years have been scrubs and jeans. I certainly no longer feel sexy. I told J/LINDA the other day about the only sex I could go for now would be Amish sex. Would I even be properly dressed for that? I'll say goodbye for now before I embarrass my self any more.
I, for one, do not know of any successful Crackwhores that don't own 4 inch come-fuck-me pumps~ just sayin'~
Oh tina honey, I own them- I just don't wear them in public ;)
Hey hooters!
Congrats to Lynn for 1st today! :)
Great blog Goldie! I was trying to think of something that I used to wear that would horrify Mr. Blackwell.
The only thing I can think of would be the poodleizing perm I got in the 80s.
I have wavy hair, and the perm frizzed, curled and made my hair so stiff that I had to use an Afro comb on it.
I have destroyed most of the pictures of the perm!
In my younger, thinner days I wore 3-4 inch heels and tight clothes.
Now I like tennies, and wear scrubs to work. At home are sweats and pretty soon my favorites, flannel pajamas!!
I too have taken to no underwire bras, just the comfy sports bras. Don't care about sagging and no bra around the house.
I enjoyed Mr. Blackwell's commentary, I will miss it.
That pic of Joan Collins reminds me of the shoulder pads that she and Linda Evans made famous! I remember all my jackets and nice shirts had the pads.
I think I even had bras with build in shoulder pads, in case you had a shirt that was pad-less!!!
Carol your blog yesterday was wonderful! A tear jerker, for sure.
Vincent is very cute in his explorer picture :)
Congrats on first LynnD!
Great Blog Goldie! I didn't know that Mr. Blackwell had died!! He will be missed.
I used to wear high heels all the time, but after I got heavy, I couldn't at all. I would try for my daughter but it would never last long. I used to own a pair of 5" heels that I wore with a costume of all black leather. That was fun!
Back in my younger, thinner and more energetic days.
Hello to all who have arrived today and I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!
5 inches???!!!!!
OMG, I'd probably fall off those and break something, LOL!
LynnD:
Congrats on First!
Goldie:
Sorry I did not get back here today, But did I tell ya, I love your blog
:O)
LynnD:
Stirrup Pants, I so remember them, as I wore them... Oy vey...
LynnD:
Leisure Suits, Power Blue...LMAO...
Bon:
I miss those smoking club days :O)
Zona:
I 2nd about Shirley..
Scirish:
Gaucho Pants, Geez I wore them all the time, I had forgotten all about them... And yes LynnD, now that I look back, they looked horrible on me... Big Mistake... :O)
Scirish:
Overalls with beer, I have made them same mistake... I could never get those dam hooks off the buttons fast enough...
Outatuune:
Trust me jeans will be just fine for seeing all your daytime shows...I have been to some and always wore jeans... For the broadway play, jeans are perfectly fine as well, you can really even wear the sweatshirt, but if you want to dress it up a bit, a Sweater is fine...
TINA: Does it count if my crackwhore shoes have special heels and inserts? Remember, as you remind me ALL the time...I am old!
BEBBIE: Dare I ask where you wore this "costume" of all leather and 5" heels? You don't have to tell if you don't want too. Second question, any pictures? :)
ZONA: I can't believe you waited until two weeks before your wedding to get the dress. You must have made your mom "anxious".
I think I used to dress nicer when I was working. I found when I went to a wedding last week, I had to go out and buy something to wear. I don't like to shop and I don't like how I look in clothes so I guess I would be on the worst dressed list! Great blog GOLDIE! I always thought it would be nice to wear scrubs to work but Chase would allow that, I don't think. lol
MEK: We are hearing possible snow for tomorrow. It is starting to rain now. Tell you friend EKM too!
I have to laugh that so many of your remember your fathers wearing leisure suits----I remember my husband wearing them. We thought they were beautiful and I remember the pale blue one best.
The kids in grade school are wearing gaucho pants all the time. I don't like them but both my granddaughters wear them all the time.
TINA: Sending prayers for your Aunt and Dad and family.
Carol - Thanks for the info on what to wear in the city. I feel less conflicted now although you did just admit to Gaucho Pants.....
Bon:
Only voting by mail? I had no idea, I thought all states had voting machines??? Wow... I wonder why tho. Is it the expensive of the voting machine?????
Lani:
I remember the paper dresses, I had one... :O) and No clothes needed for sex, you will be perfectly fine.. Trust me...
Tina:
I am Mrs Marcus when it comes to those pump shoes :O)
Ebj:
Thanks for commenting on my blog... And I so remember shoulder pads, I had them in everything, I wore, I looked like a "Jersey Humpback Whale" :O)
Bebbi:
I used to wear heels as well, but when I got older I could not take the heel anymore, so I switched to platforms and wedges which I wear all the time... They are better for my balance.. :O) I buy most of my shoes in Nordstrom or Zappos.. They both have a great selection of platforms.. Zappos is the best tho...
Outatuune:
You made me smile...
Thanks!!!!
Outatuune:
I saw your ms status, I sent you a ms msg, Do you need help of some kind with your trip????
Dianne:
I don't love shopping either, however as long as I stick with Lane Bryant I am ok, as it seems that is the only store that the clothes fit me so well... I really can't shop in just any store...
DWTS is on, I am going to sit back and relax...
BBL...
I just recieved an email from my cousin which said her wife has cancer in her voice box and lymph nodes on either side of her windpipe. They will be removing all three. She'll be in hospital (if all goes well, she said) for 10 days. She will then have 7 weeks of radiation followed by some chemo. That's a lot of treatments. My mum only had 15 radiation treatments at a time. This will be 35 plus chemo after.
I feel very sad. I don't pray but if you do would you throw one out there for Sandra and Rose. Thanks.
Carol - drat! I thought I had replied to your MS msg but apparently I just closed the window but it's sent now.
Shirley - prayers for Sandra and Rose. Sounds like she's going to have a pretty rough go of it. (((HUGS)))
Hi Hooters! Thanks for all the nice and fun comments for the blog. Glad you liked it.
However, I do believe all these walks down fashion-memory lane may give me nightmares tonight! LOL
Shirley- I sure will say a prayer for Rose and Sandra. Anyone else who needs one- I am happy to include you too.
I am watching The biggest Loser and I am NOT eating anything. How in the world did that happen????
#69
This must be Ronnie's House Of Pleasure.....Ahhhhhhhh
Where is everyone?
I really like your blog today, Goldie. Too cute.
I have been catching up on the comments and you all are about to make me wet my pants, with your stories.
Congrat. Lynn on first.
I love clothes and probably have too many pairs of shoes. Is there such a thing as too many pairs of shoes?
Sorry to say, I'm one of the ones who liked gauchos. My favorite was my black wool and black butter leather stove pipe boots. I thought I as just so cute, but probably looked dumb. lol
I hated the leisure suit craze. OMG, my husband had some that he always wore with white shoes and belt. I thought I would gag over that look. White belts should be outlawed, for that matter, those shoes too.
Back to DWTS...bbl
Shirley: I am so sorry to hear that news. My SIL just went through that and she is doing good now. Also, coincidentally, I have a nice coworker who went through it too, she is doing fine now too. Hopefully, everything will go fine and they will be cancer free when it is done.
Carol: My sister where's platforms too. You would love it here, Zappos is only about a 30 minute drive..the WHOLE WAREHOUSE..FULL OF SHOES!! AND,,,they have sales over Labor Day and other times when they have boxes and boxes and BOXES of shoes for $5 a pair!
Ohh sheesh..WHERE'S?? Good GAWD> I meant wear's..roflmao. duh.
Obviously too much cool night air got in my head when I was out walking.
I used to LOVE Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. Also, I was one of the over all crowd. I also liked those one piece jumpsuits, especially had a couple of those in shorts. Goofy goofy goofy..and not good if you are drinking fo' sho'
LynnD~~Wish you were here to see my local news weather guy. He's modeling various costumes and is, at the moment, a green M&M!
Shirley~~(((Sandra & Rose))). SOME DAY, we will rid the world of the "C" word.
Carol~~This might answer your question far better than I could:
Mail-in ballots give Oregon voters control
So much fun reading about all our 'crimes of fashion'! Ronnie, I'm with you on the gaucho and boot look. I think it worked better for those of us who were 5'9" or 10".
Jodi~~Thanks for the belated coffee & glazer delivery. I need the coffee now more than I did at 3 a.m.!
LynnD Ha Ha back at ya! LOL Congrats on #1!
Goldie What a fun blog today. I'm enjoying all the comments. My mother was a great seamstress and made me wonderful, stylish clothes. She even made me the most beautiful sophisticated evening gowns. I also wore high heels to high school every day. That's probably one of the reasons my feet give me trouble now. So I was stylish then but certainly not now. I'm almost always in jeans and a loose top or sweater. If I really have to, I'll wear heels but only if they are a couple of inches high. Any higher and it really bothers my back.
still wrong, sheesh..I meant wears. I am baking scones and trying to think too..lol. Scones are done, anyone?
I suck, I was suppose to call Jodi tonight, but I totally forgot about Family Reading Night at school.
I'm going to go say two Hail Marys's to feel better.
I also loved the big sweaters from the 1980's.
I'm not very happy with my new plus size. The clothes are all starting to look the same.
Must walk, walk, walk.......
Back in the very early 1990's I wore a lot of big polka dot dresses.
I shrudder eveytime I think about it.
I have never worn heals, not even in my 20's when I was thin.
I'm too uncordinated, I fell everytime I tried.
Shirley, I will say a pray and I will have hubby do it.
Bon:
Hmmm.. That was interesting, Now that I have read the reasoning it surely does make sense. Just one more question. Do the schools in Oregon close on election day? As here our voting machines are all in schools, so all schools are closed...
Bebbi:
Zappos by where you leave, oh my, I would be broke, I am a zappos freak...
Jodi:
Just wanted you to know, I am thinking of you, and hope this 7day working in row, goes quickly
♥♥
Iteach:
I am sure Jodi will understand.. You are just so cute... Polka dot dresses :O)
just lin: i just saw the quote of the day.. LOL!!~~@@~@@!!! i wore smaller pants today!!
Shirley:
I will say a prayer as well..
Bebbi:
QOTD was funny, Just_Lin picks good ones...

Carol: They have a Zappos Outlet in Bowling Green too. Since UPS is so close by, their big warehouse is out in Shepherdsville. I just love going out there. They always have coupons in the neighborhood coupon books too. One time I went out there and bought about 10 pairs of shoes and boots (on their $5/$10 sale stuff).
iteach: My daughter likes polka dots dresses, but the smaller polka dots are in style for her.
Carol/Bebbi (or other shoeaholics)~~What do you know about DSW Shoes? Huge new store just opened here on the 16th. I haven't been yet.
(Yes, school's open on 11/4)
Bon:
I have a couple of DSW stores my me. I have shopped there and have bought shoes, most of their shoes are reasonably priced, however its a hit or miss depending on what they get it. I guess its somewhat like Marshalls, hmmm. not sure if you have Marshalls by you...
So you have school on election day, So very different here in NJ.. Geez you learn something new everyday...
Bebbi:
I am drooling :O)
One more question for MSers and then I promise I'm DONE for the day....
Yesterday I posted a pic of a tree to the October/Oregon album. Jax asked what it was. I'm not sure. Took another shot and gathered leaf/pod sample today. Anyone (probably EVERYone but me!) know??
I thank you, Jax thanks you. I'll ask locally tomorrow. Nite all!
bon'o: I never heard of DSW Shoes. We don't have any around here. I do like Steve & Barrys for shoes (they are reasonably priced but don't have a huge selection). Also, TJ Maxx and Marshalls sometimes have good shoes but it is hit or miss there too.
I need a new pair of black shoes for work. Mine are worn on the back and I keep slipping. I know I am going to fall down if I don't get rid of them and buy some new ones!
Have you ever seen the movie "In Her Shoes"?, I love that movie. When my sister and I were not speaking to each other, I would watch that movie and just cry my eyes out. It is a great movie.
99?
100!!!!!!!!
bon'o, what color is the pod/nut?
bon bon- I have a DSW really close to me. And Marshalls, and Tmaxx...
So many shoes, so little time.....
It might be a white walnut

RONNIE: We must have been married either to the same guy or brothers. My ex wore the white belt and shoes with his leisure suit. His shoes were very obvious as we was 6"8" and wore a size 14. Can you picture those white shoes in a 14? He got rid of the white items soon after we were married.
BEBBI: Congrats on your weight loss. It won't be long until you are wearing that leather outfit again. I am still waiting for the answer on the pictures.
CAROL: Our voting machines are in schools but they are still open on election day. It is so interesting to hear the different customs in each area. BONO: I didn't realize Oregon was a mail in state only either.
JODI: I hope you are getting some sleep before work and that you start feeling better. Don't throw your orange shirt away but put it away for a couple of weeks. I am still mad at the Broncos!
SHIRLEY: I have said a prayer for Sandra and Rose. I will remember each of you each day.
*bringing in scones with glaze* They are wrapped in Festive paper with blue ribbons tied on each one, for a visual go to MS. :) ENJOY!!
Happy Tuesday. Owls.
Goldie, Great blog. I wore some things that I'm sure would get me on Mr. Blackwell's list. As a kid in the 50s I wore the ever popular poodle skirt with about 10 crinolines under it. And penny loafers, too.
I also wore the platform shoes because I wanted to look taller, like Mary. However, I sprained my ankle because they were so darn hard to walk on.
Dianne, my Hubby also wore a leisure suit, but it was brown. I bought it for him and I wasn't about to get a blue one. We even got one for all my boys and had their pic taken with them wearing them. They all hate that pic.
Goldie, This is a great topic and brings back a lot of memories. Most of them, though, make cringe. LOL
Dianne: Well, there were a few pictures and they were pretty good too. But that was long ago, and I think the evidence was destroyed ;) I HOPE anyway! I have children! They do not want to see their mother act like *that*.
Thanks

((((HUGS))))& good night.
And thank you so much for the congratulations. It has not been easy, but I have made up my mind that I am going to lose the weight. I mean, why the heck go and get gastric bypass surgery. They just put you on a liquid diet afterward, heck, I can put my own darn self on a liquid diet and save myself some PAIN. ;0 ...not knocking anyone who had or is thinking of having gastric bypass, that was just my thoughts on it.
Night Night Shirley Bug, sleep tight!!
Good night Shirley- sleep well.
I am off to bed too- thanks again everyone, I'm glad you enjoyed the blog today. I really enjoyed reading about our trips down memory lane.
JODI- I know you are sleeping now, but can you put a fresh pot of hazelnut on when you wake up?? SWAK
Lynn D, congrats on #1. You made me LOL at your wardrobe malfunction.
Shirley, mI will keep Rose and Sandra in prayer.
Bon'O, yes Gauchos are only for tall people. I couldn't wear them because they came down to my ankles...defeated the purpose. I do love the capri and crop pants that are out now. For me they are the perfect length and I finally do not have to hem my pants. I can even get pants with a design at the hem.
J/L, My mother was a seamstress too and made all my clothes, including my school uniform. I was very lucky because she could make anything.
Bear, I am also very distressed at the number of "yes on 8" signs I see, even in my neighborhood. I want to rip them out of their yards too. I will be casting my 'no' vote too.
Goldie, So you don't wear those CFM pumps in public? Do you wear the for private parties only???
Schools are closed in Kentucky.
Goodnight Goldie, really great blog. It brought up a lot of talk of clothes and SHOES! fun!! RIP Mr. Blackwell, thanks for the laughs and entertainment over the years.
Okay all, I am off to bed too. Sweet Dreams of the finest shoes!..I mean things.
Goodnite Bebbi...
Goldie:
Great Blog Today, it was fun reading all the comments....
I am of to bed, see ya all tomorrow...
:O)
Good night Bebbi and Carol!
Shirley I'll be keeping Sandra and Rose in my thoughts.
Good night to those that are leaving.
I got back from the Taylor Swift concert an hour ago. I think I have gone deaf! She had a packed arena.
I managed to drive there and back with out getting lost. I am so spoiled. My Mary usually drives me everywhere, but it was just dyslectic me and my SIL. We had maps, written instructions, and my jeeps navigation. I hate driving in the middle of large cities!
Bear, what is prop.8?
Diane/Denver, you said "I don't look good in clothes" hmmmm, Must be you look great nekkid lol!
Shirley~ More prayers going for Sandra & Rose.{{hugs}} to you.
Outatune~I'm watching "Murder She wrote." She said something that made me think of you. She said,"There are 3 things you can never have too much of, Chocolate, friends, & theater".Love her!
Good Evening,,

I have enjoyed reading everyone's "wardrobe malfunctions"!! LOL..

:-)
waving howdy to everyone..

WHO IS VOTING FOR HER??!!!

I hope everyone has an excellent Wednesday!!
:-)
MARY/MI: After I posted and read again what I had said, I was wondering if anyone would notice about my "clothes issue." No, I am not a great streaker either...except when I am home alone.
SHIRLEY: Sending out prayers for your family.
TINK: I am missing you today. Are you feeling okay and I see you got done with your decorating?
I am off to bed as I have Hospice volunteer tomorrow and I might have to leave early IF there is a snow storm tonight. TINA: I am missing your weather reports.
Night all....
One more thing...I am very photo challenged on the computer. I have worked awhile tonight to try and change my avatar so if I have taken a picture someone else already has...would someone tell me, please and I will go searching again. Thanks
SacBarb: Thank you, thank you, thank you for your "no" vote! We especially need support out in the Central Valley, where things are grim!
Mary/MI: Prop 8 is a ballot initiative to add an amendment to the California state constitution that defines marriage as only between a man and a woman. If it passes, it will overturn the California Supreme Court ruling back in June and take away the right of same-sex couples to marry.
Right now, it is ahead in the polls.
DIANNE - That is the pic I found 2 days ago.....lol!!! But I'd be willing to share. :D
GOLDIE - Great blog!!! OMG....I'm sure Mr. Blackwell would've put me on the list for most of the 80's....fer sure!!! Of course, there was the whole ripped sweatshirt and leg warmer phase (thanks to the movie Fame), and of course there was the whole Madonna wave, and who could forget the lovely mall hair of the 80's? Been there, done all of it!!!
BON*BON - In case you get up early......I have brewed a fresh pot of coffee and left a huge box of Glazer Donuts on the counter for you!!! ENJOY!!!
125!!!
I hope everyone has a great "Hump Day"!!!
I'll be back after work. :D
