Title

by Zona

Every Easter, each department at Mr. Z's workplace puts together an Easter basket. The baskets are then sold and the proceeds go to Children's Miracle Network. Last night we went to Target to find some toys and candy to put in his department's basket. I was looking at the jelly beans when I heard a voice say.."I have to tell you something..now..you have to listen to me ok?" I looked over my shoulder and a little boy..he was about 9 or so..was looking very seriously at his little sister. Their mom was pushing a cart and didn't seem to be paying too much attention to what was being said. The little girl..who was probably 5 or 6 said "Ohhkaay". Her brother pointed at her and said, "Now listen..you have to listen to what I'm telling you....there is no Easter Bunny...mommy buys all the candy and puts it in the baskets.." The little girl just looked at him..stunned..and their mother stopped moving. I stood there thinking 'uh-oh'. The little girl looked up at her mother and with panic in her voice said..."Mommy??..Mommy?" Mom stood stock still..a bag of candy in her hand. The little boy grabbed his mother's arm and said "Tell her the truth..you know you have to tell her the truth Mommy...so tell her..." It looked as if the little girl was going to cry..and her voice wavered as she said.."Mommy?...Mommy?" Their mother turned the cart around and started to walk to another aisle..she still hadn't said a word..her son walked beside her repeating.."You have to tell the truth..you know you have to.." while his sister just kept saying "Mommy?". I felt so bad for that child...and I wish I had been able to walk over and comfort her somehow. I wonder what her mother finally told her? Do you remember when you learned that there was no Easter Bunny..or Tooth Fairy..or Santa Claus..or are they still just as real to you in your heart?

TINKA...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Your day sounds wonderful (and busy!)and you deserve a wonderful day. Think of your wheelchair as a throne on wheels! I am exhausted thinking of all you will do today and I am only 28!! {HUGS}}

HODI...I hope your dad is doing better today. {{hugs}}

SHIRLEY...I hope you are feeling better. Mostly, I hope your organs are still internal.

ITEACH...Matthew will feel so much better when he finds the delivery from the tooth fairy!

ZONA...WHAT????? The Easter Bunny and Santa Clause aren't real? HUH?? Oh shit.

LYNN D...if ya are reading...I'm still laughing!

I wonder how CAROL enjoyed Lady GaGa?

Good Morning Maureen. Congrats on first. Did you land here from your lily pad? "kerplop" to you too.

Zona - I think Mr. Z is just marvellous. He does the Easter baskets for charity, bags of candy for the employees at Christmas time and decorates the whole working place with jack-o-lanterns at Halloween. That man is a gem. You are very lucky.

Tinka said...

Tina - Thank you for the "Happy Birthday" song. I sang it to my "fur babies".

Maureen - Thank you for the greetings. What a wonderful idea. I will stop thinking I am my dear elderly mother in a wheelchair and become the Queen being pushed through all her kingdom.

Now to the blog. I have always believed in Santa Claus and always will. No-body has told me differently and I wouldn't believe them if they did. I always told my kids and grandkids that I believe. They tell me they do too. When the little grade ones would get into that argument they would come to me and ask me for the decisive answer. My response was always. "Santa Claus is magic and I believe in magic". I always remember the little girl who went back to the group after my telling her that. She stamped her little foot and said "I don't care what you say, Mrs. Nickolichuk believes in Santa Claus" and SO Do I".

Good morning ladies!!

I remember finding out about Santa and rabbits that distribute eggs and fairies that leave money for teeth...were not real...I could have made a lot of money back in January when I had my teeth pulled...also I remember finding out that God and all that was rubbish as well...that was the easiest to take...I mean I had seen a rabbit and Santa Clause...and lord knows fairies..

But its a great topic for a blog...."finding out that things aren't as you have made them in your mind"....

and creating problems where there are none....but I have to consider the source....I mean we are talking about a few people here who created and have held a grudge against Ross Mathews for over 3 years....3 YEARS!!!

The man responsible for the fact that you people even know each other....

So I am no stranger to many of the "fucked up" attitudes here and personality disorders....

So for those of you who were kind to me one day and deleted me the next...well I am not going to hold it against you....

Since I have been a regular here at this blog I feel like Dian Fossey!!!

getting to get this close and even interact with this group like Dian did with the apes....

just too interesting...and I shant give it up....

have a great day all....lol...BBL monkeys!!

TINKA...I love that...Santa Claus is magic and I belive in magic...

You are the Queen of your kingdom and your loyal subjects adore you!

The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are a different matter. I have no idea when we found out they were a fantasy. I never told my kids. I think somewhere along the way we all just knew that a bunny couldn't lay eggs.
My kids pretended about the tooth fairy for years after they knew because they loved the money they found under their pillows.

Maureen said...

I don't think I have a personality disorder

Yes you do

No I don't

Yes you do

Shut the heck up

You make me

Both of you, stop it.

Make me.

I will shut you both up.

Nuh uh

Uh huh

We're going now.

Need to get in gear and figure out the rest of Easter dinner.

Zona- this blog is something I deal with daily. Second grade seems to be a year that a lot of kids are on the fence if they believe or not. I try to stay neutral. It seems like the boys are always the first to question and stop believing.

I am still trying to keep it strong at my house, it is so much for me. :)

Just_Lin said...

LynnD Since the grandkids will be here, I made the executive decision to do the easiest thing possible for Easter and have stuff that everyone likes: Barbequed baby back ribs, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake. Oh, and plenty of deviled eggs made from these boiled eggs.

Mary/MI said...

Mo!! I am happy you were able to "kerplop!" today! Such a beauty :)

Happy Birthday Tinka! I bet you are a beauty to behold on that "Throne" of yours!

Shirley, sorry about your throat. I hurt just thinking about it! I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Zona, I don't remember when I was "enlightened" about the bunny,Santa, tooth ferry, Prince Charming etc, but in my child like heart, I will at least believe a little :)

Have a good day all!

Just_Lin said...

Zona Thank you for the blog today. I don't remember when I learned that Santa Claus wasn't real. Of course, once I knew that, well tooth fairies and rabbits distributing eggs, made no sense at all. Btw, that's great how much Randy does for the holiday projects at his work. You, too, as I know you do a lot of it.

Tina~in_ut said...

Zona~ lmbo....i told you to send me a title, didn't i? lol...see that happens?!!!! Thanks for sending the blog~

Mo & Mo & Mo~ You are so beautiful, pretty and sexy today.....all three of you!~

Tinka~ Happy Birthday, young lady~

LynnD~ shhhhhh....virgins still exist~

iteach~ I know a girl who is a mother now, but when she was in 6th grade, she still believed in Santa. She defended him when all the other kids screamed at her that he wasn't real. I admired her for it, but we all told her parents that they better tell her the truth. They did and she took the news pretty well, but I can't help but think that she kinda felt like a fool. Thank God the other kids were great to her~

Shirley~ maybe you should try putting something else in ur mouth and letting it spray stuff on ur throat....the coating might feel good~ :)~

DeeDee~ I will continue to pray for you for the rest of my life.....whether you believe or not....which is prolly why i started in the first place~ (AND STOP PUTTING ALL THOSE FORD FOCUS' ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!)

Tina~in_ut said...

yikes...hi J/L and Mary~ :D

Just_Lin said...

DeeDee Sometimes, perhaps all the time, honesty is the best policy. Then everyone can play along on a level playing field, even if it's a fantasy. I don't want to be unkind to you, I just don't know who you are. We don't share everything here, but at least what is shared is true for us. As for RM, I don't hold anything against him. The way I see it, he had a bit of a hissy
fit, he eventually apologized, and I accepted that, as did a number of us. Maybe there is a lesson there.

Maureen said...

J/L...Delores Crump started to make people laugh...she was renamed DeeDee by Tina....

It was so much fun to look at things thru her eyes that she just lived on and on....I feel release and relieved now.....

but on a personal level...her sentiments were mine...her losses were mine....only her name was different....

My name is Hortensia...(just kidding)

Shirley(NCC-1701) said...

Ok I just tried the spray and it is the most vile stuff I have ever tried!!! Wasted 11 bucks on that crap!!!! I'll just stick with salt and warm water.

Maureen said...

HORTENSIA...why don't you give people a chance to know the real YOU...not Dee Dee or Delores or even Hortensia...YOU?

It almost makes one think that you don't trust US enough to allow us to have gotten to know you, and that is sad because I think this is a pretty open minded and caring group that wouldn't pass judgement on someone for being who they really are. It's the charade that hurts.

I just want to come here to support my friends when they need it, laugh out loud when I need it and know that if I need my friends they are here for me, as I am for them. And if JUST LIN would share her damn ribs I would be even happier!

Tinka said...

Just home from the hairdressers and going down for a nap. When one turns 40 she needs her rest to look good.

I just skimmed the comments. I will read them tonight when we get home. Thank you all for the lovely words. See you tonight. Hope you enjoyed the Hot Cross Buns I sent to the nest yesterday.

Zona - Love you. Thanks for writing the blog. It's fun to think about Santa Claus any time of the year.

Just_Lin said...

LOL @ Hortensia!

Just_Lin said...

Tina, Since I have met your prince Charming.... :)
Tina, I think she meant virgins that were over 10,ijs

Michael/DeeDee/Delores, I don't hate Ross. He was fun for a while. Not sure what you expect.Things change.
Too bad you insist on keeping up the charade. You too were fun. I would have liked the "real you".
All these Ladies have different personalities. We get on each others last nerves sometimes, but are true& trusting friends. We don't feel the need to curse to get our point across. We sometimes do it in jest, not to hurt. You, being a man should be ashamed for the hurtful words you have said under the guise of a woman! Nuff said!

Maureen said...

MARY...I think some of the hurtful words said by women to other women on this blog and on others are equally as shameful. You and I have had that happen more then once to us and it hurts just as bad.

But just so you know, you have not gotten on my last nerve yet! YET!!!
{{hugs}}

Ok, really going now!

Maureen said...

But then again there's SHIRLEY that has gotten on all 3 of my first nerves, 2nd nerves and last nerves more then once!! bwahahaha

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the comments on my blog. When I told my sister this story she told me I should have followed the family around the corner to find out what the mom finally said. I have been wondering about that..but I have a feeling all was handled once they got home and not in the store.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINKA!! I hope you have a wonderful day of celebration with your family! Love you!

MO: You're a beauty today! I'm sorry you had to find out this way!! btw..who won the argument? ;)

TINKA: I love the way you say it's magic..it really is!

TINA: LOL!! I really did like the title..well, considering the alternative I mean.. ;D

DEEDEE: I don't have a grudge against Ross..I'm getting old and I just don't have the energy for that anymore.

LYNN: There's no such thing as a virgin? Do tell!

ITEACH: Mr Z is the one that keeps all those beliefs alive in this house..he has never lost that wide eyed innocence about the holidays.

J/LIN: Thanks..I just happen to be really good with icing..and red hots.. ;D

SHIRLEY: Don't give up on the Chloroseptic..it's good stuff..though personally, I hate the taste too! I hope you feel better soon!

DeeDee said...

and Tina...you can pray til the cows come home but the only benefit of that is going to be if you do it on a treadmill...or while pushing a Focus....

Maureen....this was a first for me...putting myself out there on the web....and by the time I got here it was just easier to remain DeeDee...

Anything I ever embellished was to be funny or make a point...

But I really did start the process of dental implants for the reasons I stated....I did glue the lost tooth with gorilla glue the day of Lisas memorial...I was biten by a scorpion recently....

Mary...do you think that when I talked to you about your teeth that I was being insincere...they were the most positive things I could have told you!!

I knew this would end...I would have thought a long time ago...I would post with "MY" google ID and Tina would clean it up! Mostly because I think people gave her a hard time about our friendship....I would send notes with "MY" email address rather than DeeDee's....finally Lisa posted pictures of she and I on FB and I was wearing a Delta pin that Tina had given me....and of course Tina was all over anyones FB page if I had ever mentioned their full name....and I had given her Lisas full name because she said her Mother needed her full name....I didn't hesitate...couldn't give it fast enough...for prayers...

I would send Tina a video of my great niece and nephew and she would write back saying she had already seen it!!! Yup...she was also regularly checking out my families FB pages....lol

So.....I wasn't hiding too damn much....and why it took Tina so long to face it I don't know...

I should have made it clear to her and maybe salvaged our friendship...we had a blast since the fall of 2007.....hell I've given you all more than a few good laughs....and blogs...

so shuddup... :)

MARY: Happy Easter! If you're making cheese enchiladas..can you send some down here please? Thank you! :D

Michael,

When I found out, I didn't even bat an eye. After the love of my life left me 11 months ago nothing shocks me. The only thing in life that I don't question is my love for my children and the love they have for me.

Just_Lin said...

Michael. Mary is right that some of the more viscious personal attacks take on a different feel when the source is changed. I have to admit that I was wondering about gender issues mainly due to some of the raunchier avatars you have used. It is just out of character for women to post things like that. On the other hand, I can see how it would be difficult to discard the persona that we were familiar with. You def have a way with words and can certainly spin a tall tale and have made me laugh many times. Even the first time you acknowledged me and told me to go to bed because I was old. LOL

Just_Lin said...

I dedicate that 69 to Tinka's hot buns!

DeeDee said...

Please try to sparkle this time Mary....

MICHAEL...I certainly understand about being new to blogging and not wanting to reveal too much, as who knows what whackos are out there (and I can name quite a few!). I hid behind my moniker on RBlog as that too was my first foray into the blogging world. But after a short while, when I started a MySpace, my name was revealed and a lot of information because I trusted those that were my friends. Sometimes, it came back to bite me in the ass. Then I just deleted those people that I discovered, thru a lot of pain, weren't really a friend. I can't even begin to tell you the amount of tears I shed while blogging on those celebublogs.

But, once I gave out my phone number for the first time, (I was scared), it made that cyberfriendship real.

I can't imagine not talking with those I talk to. They have enriched my life.

Michael, you have made me laugh more times then I can ever count. But with all due respect there were times you made my blood boil!

So, now in retrospect, was it worth it? You mentioned how half the people have deleted you. People who talked to you and cared for you, but feel betrayed by the lack of trust and honesty you showed them.

Why not change your moniker to Michael? We all know by now. Tell us who you are, what you do, what are your hobbies? Do you really drive a Focus? :)~

Shit, I ramble on and on...

It sounds like most of you are busy today and hopefully will have a good weekend.

JODI: Want you to know I am thinking about you and still sending good thoughts to you.

MONTH, MONTH AND MONTH.....You are confused today....and more importantly....you are really confusing me with all you bickering with yourself. You really need to learn to get along with your other personalities!!!

ZONA: Such a cute blog. I can just imagine how that mom was feeling and wanting to throw her hand over the older child's mouth. I don't remember when I learned there was no Easter Bunny..I am too old to remember back then.

Maureen - Yes I "must have forgotten that you need a helmet, knee pads and steel toed boots for a march around here!" I won't forget next time. You should see my bruises where she stepped on me.

Yorkshire pudding is a pocket of golden brown pastry served with beef. It is from England. It isn't to everyone's liking but I love it.

Tina - I did not have any candy or dessert during lent. We saved having my birthday cake for when the other half of my family gets back from Hawaii on Monday. How did you do?

I am looking forward to an O'Henry Easter Egg in the morning. My basket is waiting and empty. Hush I think I hear little Bunny feet outside my window.
