If you’ve ever worked for a boss who reacts before getting the facts and thinking things through, you will enjoy this . . .
A company, feeling it was time for a shakeup, hired a new CEO. The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers.
On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning against a wall and idly picking his teeth. The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business. He asked the guy,
“How much money do you make a week?”
A little surprised, the young man looked at him and said, “I make $400 a week. Why?”
The CEO said,”Wait right here.”
He walked back to his office, came back in two minutes, and handed the guy $1,600 in cash and said, “Here’s four weeks’ pay. Now GET OUT and don’t come back.”
Feeling pretty good about himself the CEO looked around the room and asked,
“Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here?”
From across the room a voice said,
“Sure – he was the pizza delivery guy from Domino’s and was just waiting to collect the money!”

Dianne, that was very funny. Working for the state for 36 years, I can certainly identify with that type of supervisor, especially when I worked in the Governor’s office. That is the typical attitude of a lot of politicians! As the Human Resources Manager, I often had to tell Executives that something they wanted to do was not allowed an they were not happy! I always asked what their ultimate goal was and I tried to get close to that while still staying within the law or rules! A director once told me, “I never want to hear ’no’ to an order!” I always had options for him, but he was never happy. He thought he could do whatever he wanted, regardless of the law, etc. and he pissed off the Governor because he didn’t take my advice. He sent an all staff email over the weekend telling us he was resigning immediately to ‘spend more time with family!’ That was only four months after he was appointed! All of us peons were very happy he was gone!
I don’t have much to say, except I’m still trying to keep all the balls in the air regarding my sister’s situation.
Hi all!
Lucky pizza man lol!
Well, it's almost Aug. I can almost smell the pumpkin candles burning lol!
My garden is almost ready. I will soon be picking potatoes, cukes, tomatoes, Zucchini, and hopefully pumpkins this fall.
I went to my favorite fruit market the other day. I brought home super sweet peaches. I will be making peach jam later tonight. Funny thing.. I opened the Sure-Gel box and there were no instructions in there. I went back to the store. I told the gal that I would buy another box, but would like her to open the box first. She did.. no instructions! She said that I was not the only one complaining about it. I left the box there. I will be down loading recipe/instructions from Google. They should place a sign by the dam pckgs!
Rant over lol!
Just checking in again. All is well here in the middle of the mitten.
I went to the Vet. and picked up Zoie's liver pills..$60, filled up with gas $50 , Got an oil change $60, Got a few gross-eries $90, picked up a few lottery tickets, and got to the bank. I think I will stay home tomorrow! Too expensive going anywhere.. OOPS, Zoie goes to groomer tomorrow and I have my hair did Thurs. "Sigh".
I need to win the one billion dollar Lottery tonight lol!!
Where r all of you?
Mary You must be an eternal optimist to buy lottery tickets. On second thought, if I was as lucky as you at the casinos, I might buy lottery tickets, too. LOL
Did your chicken dinner include mashed taters? I haven't made a good "Sunday" chicken dinner in a long time and it sure sounds good. Maybe I'll put the fixings on my next shopping list.
I got my hair done on Tuesday and my nails done on Thursday. I got a kick out of my Vietnamese manicurist. After my nails were done she walked around behind me and said, 'I love your hair, Linda. It's so organized." Well, I try. LOL
Dianne I feel really lucky to have my health insurance with Kaiser. I qualify for their low income program so I don't have to pay anything for prescriptions and no co-pays, either. It's a blessing for sure. Does your health care coverage include prescriptions? I'm glad you can get a break on your heart med by going through Canada but it's a shame that our health care and prescription coverage isn't better here in the US. Too many big companies making big money and they've got the lobbyists and make political donations to make sure it stays that way.
It's nice that you have a Branson trip to look forward to. My daughter texted me last night to ask if I'd consider flying up there for Christmas instead of her driving down. I am considering it but I have concerns. I really don't have proper shoes or clothes for a wet winter climate. Also, I don't now how the squirrels will fair if I suddenly am not putting peanuts out, especially during winter time. Don't like the idea of being on a crowded plane but I guess I will just keep a mask on like i did last time.
Barb How's all that ball juggling going regarding your sister? Have they fixed the darn pipes, yet, so she can use her toilet properly? Just thinking about that is driving me over the edge. I can't imagine how stressful this is for you. Being her sister has become a full time job for you, it seems.
Not much happening around here. There was a dog surfing competition yesterday at our local beach. It's only a mile from me but I didn't go down there. Too many people come to it and parking would be very difficult. If I was younger and in better shape, it wouldn't be too far to walk to. Those days are long gone, though.
My daughter recently lost the second one of her two oldest dogs so she is just down to the one now, Raya. Raya is a Australian Shepherd/Pomeranian mix and is basically a fluff ball. To help find another dog that would be a good fit, my daughter is now fostering dogs. Right now she has 3 fosters that are very energetic. She is looking for a dog that not only gets along well with Raya but is also a good dog to take on adventures and long walks. She's never been a foster before so it will be interesting to see how she does when they get adopted and she has to say goodbye.
JustLin, Yup, the guys like mashed taters with chicken dinner. Once in a while I do noodles. Tonight will be cubed steak, green bean casserole , and mashed taters. Yesterday was enchiladas, tomorrow is home made pizza night.
I would have loved watching the dog surfers! How fun! I understand about the parking and long walks.
Dianne, all is well here. Just a bit bored. I sure miss traveling and meeting up with all of you.
It's a bit hard going anywhere now, being worried about Jim's health and Zoie getting older and getting more dependent on me (Jim too!). Sure wish I could go to concerts with you! Even movies.
SacBarb, I think of you when ever I go potty LOL!!! I can't imagine having a messed up potty! I would have thrown one big hissy fit until it was fixed!!
Seaside, I hope all is well with you!
