Lately I've been obsessed with the movie Moulin Rouge. I love everything about it. The actors, the story, the music. They use some of the most popular music from the last 30-40 years to help tell the story. It is set in turn of the century Paris. It is a story about a poor writer named Christian that falls in love with the lovely Satine. She is the highest paid and most talented of the "ladies" of the Moulin Rouge. The trouble is a Duke is also after her affections. All to save the Moulin Rouge.
The following video is from the night that Satine goes to the Duke. It shows Christian's jealousy, but also Satine's love for him and her sacrifice for him and The Moulin Rouge. The music really is in a fugue style. I love the play of the strings against the song Roxanne and Christian's lament.
There is also a YouTube Channel that has the complete soundtrack on one of it's playlists. Click Here for the Soundtrack Lover's channel. When I'm playing on fb or reading the blog I love using that playlist. It will play all the music continually, kind of like the old MySpace days of playlists!!
Do you love a good musical? If so, what is your favorite and why?

Why thank you Dee Dee!! You are looking fabulous this Monday morning!!
Good Morning!
JODI: I love Moulin Rouge! I had the DVD for a long time but only watched it for the first time a couple weeks ago. I really liked the way they fit all the modern music into a turn of the century love story. And what a love story! Just beautiful! Thank you for the video today..and thanks for recommending this movie to me! I'm going to check out the Soundtrack Lover's channel too! Oh..and btw..Ewan McGregor? Yummm.. :)
DEEDEE: You are looking ravishing today! I hope you had a great birthday yesterday!
Mr. Z and I went to bed early because the roofers were supposed to be here at 7am. They aren't here yet..hmmmm.. Well I guess I shouldn't complain about an extra hour of quiet! ;)

Hey DeeDee what about the poptart I left for you last night? That was nice too, right?
Jodi singing? I gotta go see that.
DeeDee, I hope your birthday was a good one. We certainly celebrated here.
Tina, you and Janice should suck more. I'm just saying... it can't hurt.
Afternoon DeeDee, Jodi, Zona and Tina!
Jodi, sorry, but I'm not big on musicals. I watched this one a few years ago and wasn't impressed.
**ducks behind sofa/couch**
But thanks for sharing!
Oh. The vid. I vaguely remember that movie, but never saw it. Sorry, Jodi. That singing guy has quite an accent.
Good morning, HO's and HOoters!
DeeDee I hope you had a fabulous day yesterday. I am so neglectful! I should have sent you some Spam and PopTarts so you could eat them in the dark and pretend you're on a cruise. LOL
HOdi Must be getting nipply there. I see you're keeping your ta-tas warm with your Bronco scarf.
I can't say that Moulin Rouge really "spoke" to me, but I do like musicals. My favorite of all time is "Porgy and Bess". Wonderful music, "Summertime", "Bess, You Is My Woman Now", "I Love You Porgy", "A Woman Is A Sometime Thing", etc.
Bonach ROFLMAO @ Tina and Janice sucking more!!!!
Waving at the bright eyed Zona and the ducking Shirley and the sucking Tina.
J/L: So now that you've identified owls who are ducking and sucking, how about one who's ----ing???
Happy Monday Owls.
I am finally back among the living, sorta. My back and neck have been out of whack for over a week and I can now turn my head in one direction. Still painful to turn in the other direction. I have only been online for short periods of time to check FB.
Barb Oh, geez! Sorry to hear that. Any idea what you did to injure yourself?
Bear To figure that out, I guess we have to go through a process of elimination. I don't think it's Barb.
Jodi, I love musicals and that's why I have ushered for our local summer musical theater for 40 years. (I started when I was 10). It is really hard to pick a fave because I like them for different reasons. However, one of my faves is "Chicago," with "Cell Block Tango," "When You're Good to Mama," "Mister Cellophane." Then there is the good old classic "South Pacific," with "Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair," "Bali Hai," "Some Enchanted Evening." I have seen them all a number of time and I never get tired of them.
I also like the newer shows like "Jersey Boys" with all the great 60s music and Moulin Rouge with the updated music.
Waving a wing to the lovely DeeDee and all the Owls. I hope you all have a great day. I gotta go lay down for a bit.
Barb South Pacific is my second favorite. "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught" still so relevant today, unfortunately.
J/L, LOL @ your comment to Bear. Unfortunately that is soooo true. Zona thinks I tweaked my back when I picked up the TV in the bedroom to move it. I didn't think so, but I also have no other explanation.
oh Shirley how could I be so thoughtless.....?
POUND POUND tap tap tap stomp stomp slam POUND POUND POUND clunk crack stomp stomp kerrrannnng POUND POUND POUND POUND craasshh stomp stomp stomp...aaarrrgghhh!
I wish these roofer guys would take it easy..this is an old house..I don't want one of them falling through the ceiling and into my lap..geeeez...
JODI: So far the bangin' is not very much fun..ijs.. ;)
BEAR: By the sound of it a whole bunch of people on my roof.. ;D
BARB: Yay! So glad your back is finally starting to feel a little better..please take it easy though! :)
Hi J/LIN, SHIRLEY and BONACHI!
Happy Monday!
Jodi I haven't seen this musical, in fact the only musical (I think it's a musical hee hee) is Chorus Line.
Now I will have to check it out!
It was 80 degrees here today, the news showed people at the beach getting suntan.
Hope everyone had a nice day!
Thanks for all the comments!!
SHIRLEY - Why are you hiding?
BONACHICHI - Yes, his accent is quite thick....along with his....um nevermind ;)
SLIN - I've never seen Porgy and Bess! I might have to check it out!
WHABBY!!! LMBO!!!
BARB - Feel better soon!!
EBJ - Yes, Chorus Line is a musical!
Morning glories!
Jodi loved Moulin Rouge! Thought it was a fun movie at the time.
Well we had one hell of a storm last night. Watched a trasformer blow up just next door threw sparks and had a fire then the a tree and a line went down.
What is really weird is that all of the houses on the block have no power.....except ours. We can't freaking figure out why. The news is saying it could be Thursday before some of these houses are back on line.
I am so sorry you were down! Take it easy and get better soon.
