King George VI triumphed and made his speech, and now, the film made the biggest speech of the night: "The King's Speech" was crowned Best Picture at the 2011 Oscars.
The World War II-set drama about friendship, trust and overcoming the odds beat out nine other films, including Golden Globe winner "The Social Network". It's the first time the Academy has awarded a film about British Royalty the top slot.
Colin Firth, who won for Best Actor, starred as King George VI, a stuttering King of England who must overcome his speech impediment to deliver a speech and inspire a downtrodden country as Nazi bombs rain down. Geoffrey Rush played his quirky speech therapist, Lionel Logue, while Helena Bonham Carter plays a young Queen Mum.

you know...when you go to the theater to see a film...that when the credits start to roll people make a mad dash for the door....
The day I saw this film...at the end...no one moved from their seat...people were spellbound...including me....
Definitely one of my favorites...ever...

this is not a movie to watch at home.....you need to go to the cinema and let that create the ambiance....you have to sit thru the entire 30 minutes of noisy previews and popcorn and weenie advertisements along with those shitty songs telling you to smother your baby and turn your phone off!!
Then when you are throughly pissed off and about to demand a refund...the feature starts and within minutes all is well with the world....well...at least until some idiot walks in front of you and you have to use your taser...
TINA - I have the next 4 days off and this movie is on the top of my "to do" list!! Oh, and O M G....Colin.....it's about time!!!

J/L: Still walking or doing the elliptical. Most every day I do something. I don't track it anymore with Virgin healthmiles. I don't wear a pedometer because the one I had was uploadable only and quit working when I quit the program. I am on the lookout for another one though..I need to get back to watching my steps every day. :)

I am probably in the minority but I didn't care for James Franco. I thought he lacked personality. Anne Hathaway could have handled it alone just fine.

MO, We are going to Mexico, Belize, Costa Mayo & Cozumel. I have never been there. I am taking my Niece Raquel. She is the perfect cruise buddy. She loves to lay out and pretty much do what ever I like lol! My other Niece is still in France, teaching near the French Riviera.

I went in a restroom in Cozumel once that had those "rest area" type terlits...you know a hole in the ground beneath the commode...and there was a sign on the wall...it read...
