I almost always go to bed with my make-up on. There, I've said it.
Most of you probably think that's really gross and perhaps it is but it's been this way with me ever since I started wearing make-up back in my teens. Once in a while, I try to mend my ways and scrub my face with soap and water before going to bed, but my commitment wanes as soon as I feel too tired to make the effort. I guess I'm just plain lazy, really. The only thing I do for my face is to put some moisturizer on it before applying my make-up in the morning.
Now that I'm in my 60's, it may be too late for me but I feel like I should really be doing more to try and keep my skin more youthful looking, diminish the appearance of wrinkles, etc., all those things the ads for skin care products tell us we should be doing. Every so often, I'll get inspired by one of those ads and go buy a rather pricey product with hopes of making my face look better, healthier, firmer. I'll try it for a little while but if I can't see any noticeable difference, I soon lose interest and stop using it and go back to my lazy ways.
Maybe I'm fooling myself but I don't think my skin looks too bad for my age. I don't know that my lack of attention has harmed it in any particular way. I think I could use some slight face lift surgery but that's not going to happen and I don't think any of the products on the shelves would be a replacement for that.
Do you have a skin care regime that you feel really works well? If so, I'd be willing to try it. Well, at least for a week or so. : )

Good morning!
Wow, cool, I got first!
J/L: We sound exactly the SAME! LOL, I am so glad to know someone else that has the same issues as I do about not washing off their makeup. I feel guilty, and will do it for a while and then I don't again...lol. :)
I have some collegen stuff my mom gave me that I put on and I use moisturizer and have tried different things through out the years but no regimen.
Great blog! :)
Good morning Hooters.
I wanted to thank all of you who sent me emails, called or gave condolences, or sweetly "liked" someone's comment. You are all special to me. I am doing better today after getting some well needed sleep.
J/L I do have a nightly regime.
If I have makeup on I use make up wipes first then a cleanser (Estee Lauder)then I use Loreal's night face cream with collagen. In the morning I use Loreal's day cream with collagen.
I never go to bed with makeup on.
Have a great day all!
My nightly ritual takes almost 60 seconds. Pre-moistened wipes and some moisturizer.
Those adverts for "wrinkle remover" really piss me off. Women spend so much money in hopes of erasing lines and imperfection. There is no fountain of youth. Not unless you're DeeDee's plastic surgeon.
I'm using the money I save on wrinkle cream to hire strippers.
Happy Thursday Owls.
J/L, I, too, am just like you. I try a regimen for a while and I don't see any difference so I say 'why bother?' I have a lot of wrinkle stuff I should probably throw out because it's old. I do have a lot of wrinkles, but I have also filled a lot of them with fat. If I lose weight, I'm sure I would be a mass of wrinkles.
Bebbi, You are the prettiest today.
Mary, Happy that you got some sleep last night. My heart is with you and your family is in my prayers.
Zona, Sorry I missed your blog yesterday. I just read it and I would love to try those stairs...maybe just once.
I am taking my Uncle and his partner to the theater today. We have a Cabaret here that is currently playing Rodgers & Hammerstein's 'A Grand Night For Singing.' So we will be gone all day again. My Uncle is 85 and he is dragging my A$$ all over town. I don't know where he gets his energy, but I sure wish I could bottle it.
Have a great day everyone and for those of you who are having crazy cold weather, try to stay warm.
Good Morning!
J/LIN: I've never had to use any moisturizers on my face. I used to curse my oily skin..but now I'm kinda glad I had it because wrinkles are at a minimum. I do, however, have those dang dark circles under my eyes that only go away if I sleep 12 hours..and you know how often I do that! I would love to be able to get rid of them..but I'm kind of afraid to use anything that close to my eyes. So I guess I'll continue to look like I had too much fun the night before..lol..
BEBBI: You look just beautiful in first this morning!
SACBARB: I know what you mean..I bet if I lose weight I'll look like a Shar-pei!! ;D
MARY: You and your family are in my prayers. Sending lots of love and hugs.♥
SACBARB: If you ever figure out how to bottle your uncle's energy let me know..I'll buy a case! Have a good time today! :)
From 51:
HI MO!!! :D
DIANNE: I'd be playing those steps slowly too!! ;)
BEAR: It was 26* here last night..brrrr!! When will you be trekking to PS next? It's going to warm up here next week..so I'm guessing it'll be beautiful there!
good morning!!
none of the stuff sold at stores and elsewhere really works....its just like "hair-gro" products for men...companies are playing on our vanity....
There are some things that work temporarily....like if you have a special occasion and really want to look great....the mini face lifts done with products in salons do work...but only temporarily. But its the same concept as Prep H (which also works on the face) as it tightens the skin......
If you feel like playing "I'm a girlie" before you go to bed...thats great...I sometimes really enjoy pampering myself...but if not...and you sleep in your make-up...its no big deal. And I think "my God! What if theres a fire!?" I rather be on the news with a little make-up....however...I don't ever sleep in my eyelashes. There have been occasions when Belle...thinking they were a bug...attacked.
The only product I have always sorta trusted and have used faithfully is Creme de la Mer. It was developed by a scientist when doctors told him his burn scars were as good as they were going to get....he couldn't accept that and went to work and did develop a creme that helped him....
I have read that J-Lo bathes in it...lol. I have never bathed in it...but I do use it on my face..neck..the tops of my hands and my arms.
here is the link for La Mer...the whole story is there...but be warned...the actual creme is expensive. Hell...its all expensive but the creme is high....but you don't have to get the "jug" like I do....lol...they have small sizes.
http://www.cremedelamer.com/
Plastic surgery only works well to a degree...unless of course you don't mind looking like so many women...like Joan Rivers. I'm not putting her down but thats not for me.
When you get to the point that doing more will make you look unnatural...a good surgeon should stop you....if you don't have the sense to stop yourself...
But for me...I think I am done...another face lift is possible in a few years...at this point I doubt it....I am not going to have my nose pinched off like Joans and Michael Jacksons....one BIG thing to remember is that your skins biggest enemy is the sun...
But with a face lift...having your eye bags done away with and having your neck cinched back up will not make you look like Jocelyn Wildenstein....
and lets face it...some people are smarter than others....some people have better skin that others....some get the big boobs...some get practically no boobs......
We are programmed to strive for physical beauty...but I have learned as I know you all have...a persons true beauty is not measured by their outward appearance....its always been whats on the inside that counts.....
Which brings me to the Internal Organ Beautification portion of our program...
:D
DeeDee: I think the internal one would be more interest to me. I have given up on the external one... I just need to quit looking in the mirror! :)
I feel pretty, Oh so pretty...ironic I would get first on the day we were talking about face lifts, bags under the eyes... ha ha.
I am thinking that crying is the best natural way to keep your face looking young. You get that nice PUFFY looking eye..your eyes ALWAYS sparkle... Your nose is red which looks like you've gotten a little tipsy on wine..your face turns all red so you don't need blush..yep.. the secret to a youthful appearance..ball your eyes out every chance you get..then wipe up the snot and on we go....
ahhhhh Bebbi~ I love it~ somehow tho, I just look worse after I cry~ :( Congrats on prettiest today~
J/L~ from area 51....yes...i like to go out and git the mail in my birthday suit~
Mary~ ur pretty~
Bonachichi~ lmbo...i want in on the strippers~
DeeDee~ now I know what you can get me for V-day.....the big ass jar~
Sackie~ come back....i think you'd like the weather! :)~
Zona~ I'll show YOU cold!!!!
J/L~ i don't do a dang thing to my face....it's so frickin' oily....i can't stand it!!~ I have some oil of olay stuff i use just to feel better and get the crap off my face, but when I wear makeup, which i seldom to now, I ALWAYS wash it off cuz I know I'll forget and wipe my eyes and then there goes the mascara in my eyes! When I was younger and wore it all the time, I hardly ever took it off! I guess I wanted to look good in my dreams~ :D
Bebbi Congrats on being the most beautiful this morning, even if you are still in yesterday's make-up. LOL And OMG, I LMAO at your reasons that crying makes you look better! If I cry for a mere 30 seconds, I look like I have froggy eyes. NOT a good look. And, hey, don't we look grand when we go to bed at night? In the morning, with the raccoon eyes, maybe not so much.
J/L: Oh yes we do! LOL, and like DeeDee said, if we had an emergency, we would be looking good on the news too! he he..there are advantages. :)
I still believe that crying my eyes out is good for my skin..it's the new and less expensive Creme de Le Mer... aka..preparation H. LOL.
:)
DeeDee I have heard of Creme de la Mer. The question is, do you see any real results from using it? LOL @ the Internal Organ Beautification Program.
I wonder if anyone really has "cryed there eyes out"..wow..that would be scary...!
Go to the emergency room because my eye popped out from all the tears..and fell into my glass of orange juice..he he.
Mary I'm glad you were able to get some rest last night. I am keeping you and your family in my prayers. Thanks for taking time to comment on the blog. You are doing a lot more for your face than I am.
Hi Tina! :)
Hi Mary! :)
Hi J/L! :)
Hi Kathy! :)
Hi DeeDee! :)
Hi Bonach! :)
Hi Sacbarb! :)
Bebbi That saying probably started when someone cried so much their eyelids swelled until they couldn't open them. That, or it was just something to scare little kids with to get them to shut up. LOL
Bonach You have to hire strippers to chisel off the make-up? LOL Or you enjoy naked women dancing? If it is the second choice, you should invite Tina over. She seems to run around nekkid on a regular basis.
Zona Some things are just hereditary and that's that. They do sell stuff to minimize the dark circles. I don't know how well they work, though.
SacBarb I, too, have stuff I need to throw out. Late at night, there is an ad on TV where Jane Seymour is hawking some kind of skin stuff. It's easy to get sucked into giving these things a try.
False eyelashes seem to be in favor these days. I notice lots of young girls wearing them. Of course, if it was done properly it should be so obvious. I watched a Hallmark movie the other night with Betty White and Jennifer Love Hewitt. OMG! A side view of Jennifer made her look like she had awnings on her eyelids. They put ones on Betty that only were on the outer half of the eyelid. They were obvious, too, on the close-up. I could really use help with my eyelashes as they have gotten thin over the years.
I meant to say, "should NOT be so obvious".
J/L: LOL on scaring little kids to get them to shut up..I hear God yelling that at me all the time lately, "Shut up, Beverly, or your going to cry your EYES out...".. Too bad I am not a kid and I'm not skirred! :) So I just keep on crying and annoying the shit out of God. :)
I guess He'll get me back for that.
Just_Lin, I was kind of thinking of the male variety of strippers. They're quite entertaining, swishing this way and that. You could just rubber-band a rag to some of them and let them mop the floor.
J/L....
I have been using La Mer so long...I'm not sure....but I have young looking hands and arms...but I have had procedures that promote that....
I think I have good genes...by the time my Mother was my age she looked like an old lady and my only living sister is just butt ugly...
I have had my cake and eaten it too...but I don't think it hurts a thing to slap a little La Mer on that....
EYELASHES
My great niece Alicia and all her Dallas friends have what called eye lash bonding....Individual eyelashes are bonded to their real lashes with heat...so you never have to wear mascara....and I think it looks better than false eyelash strips but I haven't gotten around to trying it....I have just stuck with what I learned years ago at the Beulah Bucktooth School of Beauty and Poise....
oh yeah...that eyelash bonding requires maintenance at the salon...Alicia and her friends love it....they also like tittie implants....Alicia had a pair of watermelons strapped to her chest for a good while but traded them in for cantaloupes...
They also like yachts...but Alicia is the only one who has one of those.....
We are expecting 1-3 inches of snow tonight and in the morning....lol
JUST LIN...you are absolutely gorgeous. I think your non-regimine regimine works well for you! Your skin is flawles. And we all know how beautiful your eyes are.
I usually forget to remove my make-up,too. But by the end of the day very little remains, anyhow! I have stopped wearing mascara, so the racoon look isn't too bad. Except for the dark circles and bags. And of course the smoker's wrinkles!
DEE DEE...I have the impression of you that your skin is beautiful, too. Not knowing what you really look like, I could be wrong! But I doubt it! Oh, it's a good thing one can't literally cry their eye out or you would be down both!!
BEBBI...We have seen you...your skin is beautiful. Like I said, you look like a younger and prettier Nia Vardalis.
SACBARB...maybe I need new glasses because I didn't see a wrinkled face on you.
ZONA...Hi! I have the dark cirlce thing going, too! Your low is higher then our high!
Hi Hooters!
Bebbi, you are gorgeous today!
J/L- I use a pre-moistened face wipe and put on Clinique moisturizer. Thats it. More moisturizer in the A.M. then the make-up. All that said, I have from time to time say 'screw it' and go to bed with make-up on. :)
Such a crappy week. Blizzard, now frigging frigid, I have an ear AND a sinus infection and my granddaughter turned 5 today-and I wasn't there. :(
BUT- I did order her father (my son) to buy her her very own milkshake at dinner tonight at her favorite resturaunt. From Grandma Heidi & Grandpa John. Told him I don't care if she drinks (eats?) it all- but just get her one! Then she gets to go to the movie Tangled- so I made him promise to buy her popcorn too. Not like I will be there when she pukes....lol
Mary- still thinking of you, glad you got some sleep.
For the rest of you- I think of you often....
Just Lin when you have natural beauty like mine you don't use products. You just wash and go!
Nighty night Owls!
Poor Goldie, Jodie, etc! Winter, begone!
Speaking of which, Zona, we're heading back down to the desert on March 11 for 10 days. Jim's coworkers got him tickets to the BNP Paribas tennis tournament as a retirement gift on that first Saturday. Crossing my fingers for warm weather, cause they also got us tickets for the night session, and it can get cool real fast at night in March!
J/L: My skin care regimen consists of getting treated for skin cancer when it crops up, and a prescription creme for my eczema. How romantic is that?? LOL!
Barb: It would be fascinating to meet your uncle!
Bebbi: Congrats!
Tina: Guess what? I'm attending a conference at Sundance Resort at the end of March! Whabbear does Utah... LOL!
Mary: Glad to hear it!
lmbo bear~ I don't think they'll let you in.....but if they do, I'll take you straight over to the Temple and then to the Cathedral~ :)~
I just got to thinking! DeeDee!!! That's a crock of shit! Your sister is young looking and beautiful! Remember, she got the looks and you got the brains~ :D
hmmm, bear does Utah. Do I see an new future for you in the Porn movie industry?
Hi Everyone: J/L: I have tried some of those things too but soon get tired of it. I have never been one to wear much makeup....I probably should!!
BEBBI: You are a dashing beautiful today. Glad to see you at first with that smiling face. Now.....you quit crying all the time. Sometimes it is good for you and a good way to fall asleep fast but not as much as you are leading me to think. You need to smile. Look to the left at your pretty picture with that big smile!
DEEDEE: I too am glad you can't cry your eye out....that would be bad news for all of us and especially you.
We had snow all day today....TINA, you didn't tell me it was arriving. At least it was in the 20's today so much warmer.
My wedding anniversary is next week and I am trying to think of something to get my husband and he doesn't need clothes. I don't have a clue what to get him. I found a docking station for his IPAD but I asked before I ordered it and he didn't think he would use it. He is a hard guy to buy for especially this soon after Christmas. Any ideas anyone?
Guess I will go and watch some tv...I am kind of bored but don't know what to do for fun at 9PM on a snowy night. MrD is very into the Mentalist right now and me ...not so much.
GOLDIE; I hope you start feeling better and happy birthday to your granddaughter.
Di~ It was a beautiful day here.....30* and sunny~ no snow~ sorry~ I have an idea for MrD~ how about a blow job~ :)~
Dianne New watch, inscribed? Tickets to some special event. A joint gift of a romantic weekend away?
TINA: Can you come and deliver that present please? I mean we are good friends and all....
okay...I'm done gagging~ YOU give him that present!~ mkay?~
What about me? Couldn't I give him the present?
Goldie: Maybe, if I get to practice with MrD!! :o
Dianne No matter who gives it to Mr D, Tina or Bear, it will surely be a surprise. He'll never guess what his gift is. LOL
Too bad Carol is missing all this good porn.
