Menorah, latkes, doughnuts and dreidels!

by Maureen

This year, on December 21st at sundown begins the 8 days of Hanukkah (or Chanukah)...the Festival of Lights. Commonly, people think of Hanukkah as the Jewish Christmas. It is only per chance that Hanukkah falls in the general vicinity of Christmas. Just as Passover usually falls near Easter. And like Passover has no correlation to Easter, Hanukkah has no correlation to Christmas.

The story of Hanukkah, in a nutshell is that the Jews, led by Judah Maccabiah, tried to reclaim a Temple that had been taken over by the ancient Syrians. When they arrived, the eternal light only had enough oil to have lasted one night. As the Maccabian soldiers went to search for more consecrated oil, the oil burned for 8 nights. That is the reason Hanukkah is celebrated for 8 days. Hanukkah is a truly festive holiday.

The traditional symbols of Hanukkah are the Menorah, potato latkes and the Dreidel.

The Menorah has space for 9 candles. The center candle is lit each day and used to light the candles...one additional one per night. In Hebrew, we read right to left and the candles are lit right to left each night as well. On the first night, the center candle and the one on the far right will be lit. On the second night, the center and the 2 on the farthest right...so on and so forth.

The most infamous Hanukkah food is the potato latke (pancake)... and the doughnut. Yes, doughnuts! As the history of the holiday is based upon the oil in the lamp, the food is based upon the oil in the fryer! The modern day baked latkes just don’t stack up! Fry ‘em in lots of oil! And then top them with either applesauce or sour cream. I, being the piggy I am, prefer BOTH applesauce and sour cream ;)~ And then the fried cakes or as we call them doughnuts!

Children play a game with a four sided top which is the dreidel. (Ya know the one that was made out of clay!). Traditionally, kids were given Hanukkah gelt (coins) and then we gambled it away with the dreidel game!

Our Hanukkahs were pretty traditional growing up. We were a typical family. Each evening at sundown, we lit the Menorah, had our latkes and then got our present. We never were over-indulged. We would get one or two real presents...usually the first night and the last. In between we got our gelt...a silver dollar or a half-dollar. And little net bags of gold foiled candy coins! It seems now that kids are spoiled rotten...major gifts each night. I liked the simplicity when I was growing up. And I certainly appreciated each gift...as there were fewer, they were so much more special.

Now, as an adult (ok, old bag!)the family has a large gathering of cousins. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations of families. The kids will run wild thru the house! Us old fogies will sit around the multiple tables set up and eat! My cousin Elaine, who hosts the party will generally go thru about 25 pounds of potatoes! Latkes will be frying for hours! And there will be sugar cookies in the shapes of Stars of David, Menorahs and dreidels...all decorated in blue and white. And gold candy coins strewn about the tables. We are more cosmopolitan, so there will be doughnut holes!

I can’t really recall a “favorite” Hanukkah, but I would venture to say my most special was when I was 8, as it was the last one my father was alive for. But, every year is special that I get to celebrate with my family.

And yes, it is kewl to get a little gift each night for 8 nights, but it’s the latkes I really REALLY look forward to!

Mojohowitz~ I love your blog~ I love a holiday that is all about the food!!!! Wait...okay...technically, it's not about the food...but it's still about the food~ And you are not an old bag....old crackwhore, maybe...but not an old bag~ lol~ Happy Hanukkah~

Good Morning LynnD~

Now that i've waited for this blog...i can safely go to bed~ Good night all~

Morning Glories, except for the first stealing going to bed Tina! LOL

Mo I love that you wrote out the traditions Chanukah for us! I think I would definately be in your camp for the old traditional a few gifts on the first and last night and token fun gifts the rest of the nights. It would seem to me the meaning of the celebration would be more clear and well meaningful!

I don't know anyone who would not love a holiday based around fried food either! You would not be able to move me from that table! Yum! I guess I am in the piggy crowd because I would like the applesauce and sour cream combo! I am guessing this is Homer Simpsons favorite holiday considering donuts are one of the centerpieces of the event!

Oh and who can forget the gambling aspect! I never realized that was how the Dreidel was played and to use gold foil chocolates! I'm in!

Thank you for this wonderful blog from one old bag to another!

Y'all are probably tired of hearing about my cheesecake lol..but here's the recipe:)

It is a very QUICK and EASY dessert!

It's from the inside label of the KEEBLER brand, 2 EXTRA SERVINGS, graham cracker crust!

Fluffy Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie

2 pkgs (8 oz each) softened cream cheese (if it isn't softened, it will leave lumps. You can soften it on the counter or in the microwave for about 15 seconds on high)
2/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
2 eggs
1 15oz. can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)

In large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese on medium of electric mixer until fluffy then add sugar and spice and blend until combined.
Add eggs, one at a time, mixing until just combined after each addition. Stir in pumpkin.
Pour mixture into extra serving pie crust.

Bake at 450 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until center is almost set (don't overcook, it will set up more as it cools.)

Cool for one hour, then refrigerate for up to 3 hours before serving. I garnish with whipped cream or cool whip lol...I sprinkle either a dash of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon on top!

Store leftovers (what leftovers???) in refrigerator.

Enjoy.

TINA, LYNN, IBB, JOEY...thanks for the blog comments.

IBB...I am an idiot...HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY. I'm glad it was everything you wanted it to be.

Yes, I am home. Last night when I got home, my garage door wouldnt close...it was 20 below zero with the windchill and the cold has been blowing thur my house. I am waiting for the repairman to replace the motor. It is fucking freezing. It is only 9* and way below zero with the windchill.

To say I am pissed is an understatement.

Happy Hanukkah to me

Tina, LOL! Congrats on .... first?

Happy Hanukkah, Moweenie! Thanks for sharing your traditions with us. I hope you have a wonderful (and warm) time with your family. That stinks about your garage door. Hope it's an easy (and cheap) fix.

Joey, I drove all over SC last night following the smell of cheesecake but couldn't find you. I know you're close! Seriously, I'm 15 minutes from the SC border--where are you?

I'm off to the mall like every other idiot who hasn't finished their shopping. Hope I make it back in one piece ....

Sandie said...

Ummm, if you haven't finished your shopping, I really didn't mean to call you an idiot. Sorry!! I just feel like an idiot because I had time and didn't do it.

Good Morning Hooters!

Tina- if you had a 69 this early in the morning, I say you win!!

Thanks Mo for the blog. I am ashamed to say I don't know enough about other religious holidays and what they mean. Of course the food part is universal!

Its colder than whitches tit, we are going to get 3-6 inches of snow tomorrow and 4-7 on Christmas Eve day. This is going to mess up my plans and I am not happy! At least my son is flying in today, the other is coming on Friday - which of course is also calling for snow and crap. OY

Good Morning! I just got back from taking my husband to the airport. It was kind of sad because we have never been away from each other on Christmas. I called his mom and told her he was on his way and to hear her voice made it all worth it. She is so excited to have her "little boy" there. We had to leave home at 6AM--much too early for this night owl.

My light came on in my car that one of my tires was low. MrD checked it last night and they showed okay but the light was still on today. I stopped at Discount Tire and they said they were fine and added more pressure and the light went off. I am really glad as I don't like to deal with car issues...especially when MrD isn't home. I feel like going back to bed but I have to be at the dentist in an hour and a half, so best get showered and ready to go.

Happy Anniversary LYNND. I wonder if your husband remembers it too? You can have a cozy party for two at home in the snow. At some point the snow cozy feeling gets over, doesn't it? You get anxious for dry and sun.

Mo: Thanks so much for your blog. I didn't really know the complete story of Hanukkah. I would be right at that table eating with you. I would want the fried over the baked too. Happy Hanukkah to you.

Guess I had better go and hustle getting ready again.

Happy Hanukkah, MO!! I just knew I'd find this blog here this morning. I just didn't know it would be so very informative and entertaining. Thank You!!

Good morning to Tina, LynnD (Happy Anniversary! Checked MS mail lately?), Joey (yummy pic!), IBB (just breathe!), Sandie, MEK , Goldie, Dianne, Tink ~~and late risers I may miss later. Need to restock the pantry and fridge before Old Man Winter returns tonight.

Feeling Scrooge-ish today. No complaints about MY weather, but it's SO sad watching all the families stranded at SeaTac & PDX, some for FOUR+ days now, in same clothes, no access to luggage, no $, no food, no Rx, no bus/train alternative, no way out until....?? and they're the lucky ones . So many stories..... and feeling somehow guilty that my little town allowed a highly educated and decorated homeless veteran to freeze to death in the snow last week. I felt compelled to post an MS Bulletin in his honor, just to say we 'saw' him.

I hope we don't get too much snow Christmas Eve, because my stepdaughter is coming here Christmas morning. It takes three hours for her to get here. Then she is staying for a whole week!

Good Afternoon Hooters.

Just got back from getting my boost, having breakfast, getting Mom's car fixed, a visit to the local bakery for Christmas Cookies, and a last minute trip to the grossry store for additional fudge ingredients.

Trying to stay warm, today is not so bad 5 degrees and -8 with the wind chill. My turtle ass is still freezeing.

Mo thanks for the lowdown! Mom was asking me what a dreidel was and all I could remember is that my friends as a child had them and that they we're like a top.

Happy Chanukah to you and your family and any other hooters that celebrate Chanukah.

Joey your cheesecake looks great! I have a can of pumpkin in the cupboard but I don't have any cream cheese. I have to go to the store tomorrow so if my budget allow I;ll get some and try the recipe. Can it be frozen? There is no way I could eat a whole cheese.

Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. LynnD!! LOL @ the second Ice Age!

Mary, that was Mo's garage door that was broken. I do remember winters in MD, though, when I would have to pour hot water at the bottom of the door to get it to work.

Tinka, thanks for the update on VIG. I'm so glad she's relaxing!

Joey, I'm thinking we're not too far from each other! Do I smell another cheesecake?? I'm about to make some beer bread.

Bon, that's so sad about the homeless man.

Shirley, I'm so glad you have your power back. More coffee!!

I was thinking my poodles were being so good this year and leaving the decorations alone and darned if they didn't take a decoration (with tiny little beads) off the door and chew it up this morning. **sigh** And, when I asked, "WHO did that??" they looked at each other! I know if they could point they would've pointed at each other!

Bon I have not been on myspace in days as I got tired of fighting pop ups! I might try later today. I just feel so mad and helpless when I here about someone with no shelter and die in this weather! We need to do something in this country to stop this madness.

I am being lazy today have decided tomorrow is clean up and hopefully Wednesday we can get out of our driveway to shop for xmas dinner and odds and ends. Fingers crossed on that one!

It is actually 35 degrees here and there is some melting happening but at this rate it looks like it won't all melt until next xmas.

Hello Owls. I am making a quick fly-by just to say to Mo that I love this blog. I grew up in Los Angeles in a neighborhood lovingly called Bagel Bend and all my neighbors were Jewish. All the kids in my neighborhood went to Hebrew School and they would tell me all about it. We would often discuss the differences in our holidays. Now, having said all that, I have never had latkes, but I know I would love them. Thanks so much for bringing back that memory.

I also want to wish Mr. & Mrs. LynnD a very happy anniversary.

Todd and his wife are driving from San Diego to Sac for Christmas. He just called and said the weather is going to be bad on Wednesday so they are coming up tomorrow. Yikes. I have a lot to do before they get here, so I have to get off this computer.

I still don't know if Chad is going to be able to make his flight from Seattle tomorrow. He said all Alaska Airline flights for yesterday were cancelled because they ran out of de-icer! So I hope they can get more. The stress is killing me!

I gotta get this place cleaned up. I am up to my A$$ in wrapping paper and tape. Bye for now.

Thank you ALL for the comments about my bloggy.

I think I will be like JOEY and give ya the recipe for Latkes!

Really just the method, since I refuse to measure anything...well, almost anything! ;)~

-Grate some potatoes. No cheating with the food processor, it's not the same...you need some texture

-Grate an onion, add to grated spuds.

(grated nails, knuckles and fingertips are not to be included)

-put mixture in a strainer to get rid of some of the water that exudes from the taters

-1 egg

-flour to thicken

-salt and pepper

-spoon mixture in a skillet with hot oil. Fry until crispy and you are able to flip them.

-top with sour cream, apple sauce or both ;)

Modernists and foodies will add chives, garlic or other herbs to the mixture...but that isn't traditional! They will also serve with smoked salmon or capers.

Someone asked what a dreidle looked like...there are some in the bottom right corner of the pic on the front page.

Back from another successful trip to restock before the next snow!

Good to hear from you again this evening Shirley...Sleep warm!

SacBarb~~With fingers crossed for your family and others, but especially for Chad. Watching 5pm news now, and Alaska actually got 21 flights out of SeaTac today!! They're down from 4-5000 stranded at the airport to 2,000 or so. No hotel rooms, Greyhound bus service is cancelled, AMTRAK is down from here in Eugene to Vancouver, B.C. Road travel is still 'chains required' on freeways that are not closed. Now gas stations are closing due to no fuel. It's the worst PNW storm in 40 years, worst ever in some regions.

I had to chuckle while sneaking a peek at comments on the blog of a certain intern (whose flight home to Washington was cancelled)...NOT at his misfortune, but at the comments from people telling him to take the bus or drive...they just don't quite get it.

I agree on the simplicity of years ago, as we were happy with what our parents gave us. It is so different now.. Way to much is given and way to much money is spent..

I have had a latke and a jewish deli, and loved it, I don't remember the sour cream tho. However my choice would be the sour cream as I love it on potato. Actually I love sour creams on lots of things.. See I am a piggy too...

Thanks so very much for writing the blog and sharing your holiday with us..

Crap, I did not realize a march had begun, I was to busy reading the comments and typing my comments...

Yes new car.. Acura TL 2009...It is so very pretty. However right now I am scared of it.. Its just way to new 9miles on it.. It seems like they gave it to me, I got a fantastic lease deal. I really have to get used to it tho. I was so nervous driving it home, beside it being new, I had to navigate around snow drifts and ice.. I hope I get use to it soon tho..

night.owls.sb said...

Nester... some how that reminds me of the nest. :O)

kahonugrl said...

Carol as I type this we are expecting another storm with 4-12 inches of snow depending on what TV channel you have on....lol.

It is -something....and no I am not warm. I sit here typing with a flannel blanket and a throw on top of that. What was I thinking? I was gonna attempt to meet up with Goldie and Jodi tomorrow, but the expected storm has Mom freaked out...lol.

Hmmm I am 46 and she's talking to me as if I am still 15. ;) But it is her car and her house so I gotta respect her concerns and choices. We are gonna try to move the meet to next week. They will have to put up with meeting a friend who is flying in for New Years.

Sat here earlier and scratched off $20 bucks worth of Lotto tickets and won $31. Guess I shouldn't be greedy...lol

night.owls.sb said...

My car's name is Madge.. Shirley thinks its a good name, and I for one don't want to mess with Shirley.
She has the key to the owl manor basement, I have never been down there, so I really don't know what the heck is lurking down there. And I sure don't want to find out...

So Madge it will be..

:O)

night.owls.sb said...

Turtle:
Living in a warm climate as long as you have, when you venture into the cold, your body is just not used to it.. You prob should take some vitamins now, to ward off the inevitable..

There is something about Moms and single girls (like us), they still think were are 15, I know my mom does.. The other day she freaked out because I had to go to work and it was going to snow.. She called me at around 5pm.. all annoyed because I was not home yet.. Oy vey..

:O)

kahonugrl said...

Did better than that Carol. I set it up to get an extra boost (B12) while I am here and got it this morning.

Still have not seen other family besides my Mom and lil Brother as the rest of them either have the flu or are just getting over it. I talked with my SIL today and she said she was bleaching and Lysoling everything cause she does not want me to get sick on Christmas Eve. I thanked her profously for that...lol

Still trying to figure out how to present Mom's gift...hmmmmm

night.owls.sb said...

Turtle:
On Christmas Morning, get some muffins and put them in a basket, make the coffee and set it on the table.

Get your card all ready, in your card write a few words, such as.. this is for you, from my heart, its my voice, a voice that you gave me, and I thank you. Merry Christmas Mom..

As you are eating your Christmas muffins and drinking your coffee pop the cd in the cd player and let it play.. No words will be needed..
♥♥♥

kahonugrl said...

Do you believe that she has no CD player in this house? LOL

I think I will do something similiar only on Christmas Eve while at my brother's house (he has a BOSE system throughout)

I wanna share it with someone here but they all have BIG MOUTHS~

night.owls.sb said...

Turtle:
Then keep it a surprise.. My dad would squeal in a minute, I can't tell him a thing, if we are surprising someone in the family about something we never tell him so he is always surprised to..

The other day my nephew mentioned he wanted to get my SIL a super duper deluxe model frying pan for Xmas and he mentioned it while my father was in the room... On Saturday when we saw my SIL, he asked her why she wanted a new frying pan....

There goes the surprise...

And Christmas Eve sounds perfect..

night.owls.sb said...

Forgot...

Bose is a great sound system especially thruout.. It really is a perfect idea...

Let me know how it goes..

:O)

Happy Anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Lynn D!!

MEK what kinda purse did you get?

Carol and Kgirl, my mom too still tells me how to fix my hair and what I should wear.

She was on a French braiding kick for a while some years ago and I swear, I had more different styles of braiding! I had long hair and she loved playing with it. She actually did a good job!

MO I googled a dreidle and once I saw what one looked like, realized that there was one on the blog pic.

Sandie said...

Carol, I'm not sure it's just single girls moms are like that about. My mom has a thing about me going anywhere by myself. She thinks someone should always be with me! I don't know what she thinks is going to happen. Heaven forbid if I go out at night "by myself!" I told her I went to the mall today and the first thing she said was, "by yourself?" Oh my!

night.owls.sb said...

Sandie:

LOL... I went to the mall last week as well.. and my mom said...

"Do you want me to go with you, so you are not by yourself"

LOL....

Sandie said...

Carol, LOL!!

night.owls.sb said...

EBJ:
I would love for someone to braid my hair, however its to short.. I always loved the way braids looked in long hair...

night.owls.sb said...

Sandie:
Wanna go to the mall together :O)

kahonugrl said...

I have to share this too....

We we're at the Grocery Store today to get more fudge ingredients. I was checking for a ginger ale called Vernor's. You cannot get it in Hawaii and I remember it from my childhood when I spent the summers in Michigan with my Aunt and Uncle.

So off I went in a different direction than her and she is SCREAMING wanting to know where I am...lol. She finds me as I did not want to walk towards her.

Then she asks what I am doing in the soda isle and I tell her.... I am looking for a ginger ale called "Vernor's". She instantly says you must have the name wrong they don't carry anything like that, never have. Now I know it has been 16 yrs but I know they still make this stuff and I was hellbent on finding it. Damn if I could not.

THEN just as we are exiting the soda isle I spot the diet version of it. So I bend down and see that the regular Vernor's is just outta stock. I was like SEE I TOLD YOU.....lol. I kinda felt bad but also triumphant~

Sandie said...

Yes, Carol. Not only would we like it but our Moms would, too! LOL

Sandie said...

KGirl, Moms--gotta love em!

MEK in AZ said...

K'girl - my mom wandered off from me a couple weeks ago in the grocery store and had me PAGED overhead!! told the manager she had lost her child.......

GOOD GRIEF - when I came up front - the manager's face was priceless, as I don't think he expected me to be SO OLD!!!

Glad you found your ginger ale - hopefully, the regular will be back in stock soon!!
:-)

sorry your meeting with "the gals" might be postponed...... crossing fingers that the weather cooperates!!!

MEK in AZ said...

cpgem and EBJ - the purse I got WAS the TSV - very nice..

MEK in AZ said...

I think our mom's will NEVER believe that we have grown up

Sandie said...

Oh, MEK, that is priceless! It's a wonder my parents haven't done that to me yet as I'm always losing them in stores. I swear, they run off as soon as we get there! Then they say, "Where have you been?"

I guess I'll be like that too one day. Yikes!

Bon'O said...

K'girl~~When I read your 'quandary', my first thought was presentation at bedtime Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Another idea that came to mind was saving 'it' for in the car as you return to the airport (if she was taking you)...but the mom in me got teary just thinking about it!

kahonugrl said...

Bon:

I hope you all up in the PNW are staying warm and stocked up on supplies....geez you all got hit huh?

I cannot wait until the airport, she would/will be a mess when she hears it. I think it will be a Christmas Eve delivery.

I just want it to be speciail for her, so I want to make it as memorable as possible.

night.owls.sb said...

You guys are cracking me up...

Mek:
Had you paged... laughing as I type this... Sandie is so right...

Priceless!

Wish you had your flip with you so we could have seen the managers face..

LOL

Bon'O said...

Sandie, MEK, Carol & K'girl~~Loving your mom anecdotes! Don't count on it EVER ending. Every time we came to visit from out of state, my mom insisted on tucking me into bed at night, with a hug and a "night-night, button-nose". If she were here today, she'd do the same, and probably ask if I'd said my prayers before getting in bed!

K'girl~~Still 33 and foggy here. My snow is all gone, but I could drive 1/2 hour any direction and it'd be 8" deep. Supposed to be
25* and snowy later tonight.

Just_Lin said...

Carol, Kgirl, MEK, and Sandie LMAO @ your Mom stories.

Carol Also LMAO @ your dad being a squealer!

Sandie said...

Oh Bon, button-nose!! That's so cute.

I'm thinking there must be something about moms in grocery stores now.

Today I took my parents with me to the grocery store and not only did they get lost, when Dad found me he said, "Oh, there you are!" It makes me laugh.

Anyway, they checked out before me and then as I was checking out and the cashier was ringing up my last item, Mom ran over and said, "Don't check out, your father went to get some biscuits." Well, don't you know that took all of five minutes while I held up the line. I kept apologizing to everyone. Then when we left Mom said, "You can have those biscuits, we bought some already." WHAT???

Well, they do provide cheap entertainment! LOL

Sandie said...

I don't mean to talk badly about them--I adore them and am so blessed to still have them and have them living near me. But, they are funny!!

East Bay J said...

Whenever I go to my mom and dads house, I usually get together with old friends for dinner or hanging out.

My mom will still wait up for me! No matter what time of the night, she will be waiting to make sure I get home safely.

I need a new purse!

Just_Lin said...

MEK I had to use a plunger tonight! In the bathtub!!! What is it about holidays that make the drains misbehave?

Sandie said...

EBJ, I'm thinking I might be like your mom because I'm like that now.

Hi J/L!

Well, I'm off to bed. I get to sleep in tomorrow--yippee!!

Bon'O said...

EBJ~~'Back in the day', before cell phones, my mom insisted that we call the minute we got home to Seattle (300 miles), so she could stop worrying. "Just call, let it ring once, then call back and let it ring once again". At the end of a visit, it's not like we needed to talk; and she was so frugal, God forbid we'd have to pay for a long-distance call, but arriving home meant:
1)Unlock the door, and
2)Go potty
3)Call Mom!

East Bay J said...

Bon we still have to call when we get home.

But, now I find myself asking them to call me when they get home!

Sandie I guess it's just a mom thing huh?

I do tease her when she tells me how to fix my hair or what to wear!

Bebbilane said...

haha..congrats on 69 tina..errr, I mean first! too funny.

I am too exhausted to read the blog or the comments. I have been making cookies like a mad woman with my daughter.

We made pretzels dipped in white and brown chocolate, sesame cookies (my daughter made), oatmeal & orange chewies, sugar cookies (my daughter again), gingerbread (my daughter again). I dipped so many things in chocolate tonight, I am amazed I am not dipped in it!

I did get over 8,000 steps running all over the kitchen like a crazy person. And, we kept having to go back to store for stuff. I hate when that happens!

Well, just wanted to stop in and say hello. I will read the blog tomrrow and comments too.

night all and sweet dreams!

Goodnight Turtle & Carol & whoever else is leaving. I just dropped by to say goodnight too. I have an apptmt. tomorrow in the big city to have my roots done. My son is driving me. We are expecting 5-10" of snow tomorrow! Mr Mary is running out of places to push the snow!
Stay safe everyone!!

sacBarb said...

Hello again.

I'm taking a break again. I'm getting exhausted. But I am excited too. I just talked to Chad and so far his flight is a go. He said to plan to go to the airport to get him UNLESS he calls me.

You guys are talking about your parents wanting you to call when you get home, well, my sons all tell me to call them when I get home. I can understand calling the two younger ones, because they both live a far distance, but Dean lives 15 minutes away! Still, I usually forget by the time I get home and after about an hour he calls me. I blame it on old timers. LOL

I am going to bed now so I can get an early start in the morning.

Good night Owls.

Zona, you have MS mail.

Call me crazy, but I actually went to the mall yesterday. It took me 30 minutes just to get off the ramp from the beltline into the parking lot!!! I just got back from our Super Walmart. My niece wanted books 2 & 3 of the Twilight series. I knew I could find them at Wallyworld, but hell to the no if I was going to go during the daylight!!! Just need to get a few stocking stuffers for the kids, and then I'm DONE!!!
