Here's a truly heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little 5-year-old girl and some construction workers. It will make you believe that we can all make a difference when we give a child the gift of our time.
A young family moved into a house next to a vacant lot. One day a construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot.
The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers.
Eventually the construction crew, all of them "gems-in-the-rough" more or less, adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important.
At the end of the first week, they even presented her with a pay envelope containing ten dollars. The little girl took this home to her mother who suggested that she take her $10 "pay" to the bank the next day to start a savings account.
When the girl and her mom got to the bank, the teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own paycheck at such a young age. The little girl proudly replied, "I worked last week with a real construction crew building the new house next door to us."
"Oh, my goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?"
The little girl replied, "I will, if those assholes at Lowe's ever deliver the damn sheet rock."

and everyone who may actually land...thinks about landing...or just circles and dumps fuel...
and all the lurkerettes...
I wore my lift-a-butt briefs today simply for the "day prior" to my birthday butt smooching....
so pucker up everyone! Line forms in the rear! (no pun intended)
btw...the rules say that on ones birthday weekend everyone has to be nice to him and do what he says...and AGREED with him...J/L.
and...I'd like an Italian Cream cake for tomorrow...something fancy...you know...from the Magnolia Bakery in NYC.
Gosh I hope you all planned ahead.....
I'll be 35!!! (55)
Do those undies work in the front as well Michael?
No Shirley...these are "lift a butt" briefs....
The "lift a weenie" briefs would be for a different occasion entirely...
I think those are called "an insert"...
Do you need those too?
don't need either one....just trying to be accommodating for everyone by bringing the buttocks up and out...thereby creating more "lip-space"....
Well that's very thoughtful of you Michael, but my lips will be no where near your butt, whether it is lifted or not.
Of course that last comment was said with the nicest voice I could muster.
**Acme Party Are Us truck pulls up to Owl Manor and begins unloading large boxes into the back door**
MeeMee thought you would enjoy this pic. Does this woman ever think.
Mr. Michael I thought your birthday was in November?
The Government just rolled out the new health plan........So If you can't afford a doctor, go to an airport - you'll get a free x-ray and a breast exam, and; if you mention Al Qaeda, you'll get a free colonoscopy.
Had to share, thought it was cute.
lol Iteach!
ROFLMAO Lynn!!!!
This campaign is going to be infuriating and funny.....lol

Let her husband have it...I am positive he would give it a good working over....

What could
the

**As the Acme Party truck leaves another Acme truck rolls in...the Acme balloon truck - "We Do The Blowing For You"
Hello, HOoters. I hope everyone is having a good day.
Tina Your moan is as enticing as ever. Congrats on being first.
Michael Thanks for the funny blog today. Keep laughing. Have you heard from AARP yet?
Shirley Well, aren't you the busy little beaver today? If you forgot the birthday candles, I;ll be happy to go buy a few cases. ;)
LynnD Funny avatar! Nuf said.
iteach I like the health plan. Probably less of a wait than seeing your real doctor, too.
For a moment, I was 25. Wish I could be 25 again but know what I know now.
I got a call from my brother last night as a kind of forewarning on how quickly my mother is declining. I talked to her briefly the night before and she seemed okay but my brother tells me that she slipped off the edge of the bed again and when she called to him she was calling, "Mom". We now have Hospice visits in place and he had nothing but the best things to say about all of them, from doctor, nurses, and even delivery people. Thank God for that. My daughter and I are going to down there on Thursday. Right now I am scheduled to come home on the 27th but this may have to change, depending on how things are.
I know how difficult this must be for you Just Lin. I'm glad you have good help to rely on. It makes the difficult times a little easier knowing she is well cared for. ((((HUGS))))
Mr. Michael that is such a cute story!
Oh,J/L, Hugs to you dear friend.
