My Watch!!!

by Jodi

Mother’s Day weekend Sam and I drove down to spend the weekend with Lois Lane and her family.  Her small little town has become somewhat of a sanctuary for me.  It was my first weekend off after my Dad’s funeral and I just felt the need to get away.

Lois is on the board of a place called Teen Turf.  It is a local teen center headed by an awesome lady named Eileen.  The weekend that I was there is their biggest fund raiser of the year.  The have a lovely chicken dinner followed by a live and silent auction.  When we got there Lois introduced me to Eileen.  She is this little ball of energy that hugged me like we were long lost friends.  I told her that I had a fistful of dollars and couldn’t wait for the auction.

I had already decided to make a donation, so Lois said find something you like and bid on it.  Eileen had been invited to Oprah’s very last “Favorite Things” show and had donated several items for the auction.  I checked out the Oprah items and I fell in love!!  Philip Stein designed a special watch for Oprah’s 25th season.  It has a double face with O’s and silver 2 and 5 on the top watch in honor of her 25th season.  Oh, and yes it has 58 hand set diamonds around the bezel.  It is divine and I had to have it!!  The bidding started at $500….gulp…..ok here we go!!  I have never been so extravagant in my whole life; especially on something for me.  As the bidding got higher, the more I was shaking.  Once the bidding was over and I got the watch, I just broke down.  I was so happy to be able to make such a generous donation in memory of my Dad.

JODI: I remember how excited you were when you got this watch..not only because it was so beautiful..but because you were able to make such a wonderful donation in your dad's memory. I know that you will think of your dad every time you wear it..and that makes your watch absolutely priceless. :)

Tina Congrats on being the prettiest AND most handsome today. Too bad your phone doesn't have a clock face with hands. LMAO!

Michael Is that a picture of the birthday boy or at least a reasonable facsimile?

Just_Lin said...

HOdi That is just sooooo cool! It's so neat that you got such a special watch that will always be a collector's item, besides being gorgeous, but how you got it is wonderful. You helped others with that purchase and that does your dad proud. Kudos to you!

Shirley Oooooh, a mystery! Did Michael find that diamond ring or did one of us? (Hiding left hand behind back)

Just_Lin said...

Zona Thanks for QOTD! I hope you have plenty of answers for Randy's questions.

Goldie I'm sorry, I almost missed you. I think I was too busy admiring HOdi's watch. Waving a wing at you.

Shirley....

I saw Tina find something in the cake...I knew when her eyes bugged out. I thought maybe she had seen the image of Jesus in the icing...

So I strolled around there after she moved and saw that she had slipped something sparkly under a flower arrangement.....so I grabbed it and stuck it in my pocket.

It wasn't until later that I had to use the restroom and as I sat in the stall with my pants around my ankles a hand reached under the wall...and into my pocket and snatched the ring! Then the hand came back as I stood up and it had a CAMERA! Snap!

So someone has my rock and a picture of my rocks apparently...I can't imagine who it could have been...

I did notice the scent of Jean Nate....

Who is Joseph? Mary's old man?

sacBarb said...

Jodi, the watch is "George-ous." Oprah would be proud that her items were auctioned off for such a good cause and you should be proud that you contributed.

Michael, I flew in and out so quickly yesterday that I didn't read the comments and I completely missed your birthday party. Please accept my belated birthday wishes and I hope you had a very nice day.

Sharon and I just got back from a little day trip we took to Bodega Bay, a small town on the Pacific Coast about 65 miles from San Francisco. It's main claim to fame is that Alfred Hitchcock filmed the movie 'The Birds' there. It's about a 2 hour drive from Sac and we just went there for lunch and to sit by the water for a while. All in all it was a very nice day.

Waving a wing to the lovely Tina, moaning in first, Jodi, Goldie, Shirley, Zona, J/L (How far are you from Bodega Bay?), Michael and all the Owls who may or may not fly in later.

Jodi said...

Thanks BARB!! Sounds like a fun day!!

MICHAEL - I think you missed sum...;)

SacBarb Well, I'm farther south than Bodega Bay. I'm just south of San Francisco. It's a fair drive to Bodega Bay. Did bring up a funny memory.....Mom and I drove up there for a weekend, looked at the building used as the school in the movie "The Birds". We had a lot of laughs there, spent the night at a very nice place. On the way there, I tooke the windy roads and had to pull over for Mom to vomit. LOL

I sent you a text earlier. Did you get it?

Hodi, Eileen and everyone else at out fundraiser talked about you, for weeks! You were the talk of the town. I know your parents are so proud of you and how you've continually given of yourself. When they aren't dancing, they're no doubt smiling down on you. Eileen is also a very frugal lady. When she was given these extravigant things by the Big O (not that Big O, Shirley, the other one) she couldn't see herself wearing such a beautiful watch while taking care of our local youth. She was so happy not just to get the donation but to know someone who realllllly loved it is wearing it proudly. BTW, Hodi, I love when you visit! Can't wait until the next ho-down. <3

Jodi said...

LOIS - Still would like to see pics of the event...*hint, hint* ;) And as far as the next HOdown...11 days baby ♥

Jodi said...

Heading to bed. I hope all you HOoters have a good night!!

NoNewz/Lois Great to see you here and I'm not even getting poked? What's with that?

Just_Lin said...

Sweet dreams, HOdi!

Jodi said...

SLIN - ugh!! Felt like I only got a "nap" last night. Hope you have sweet dreams, too pretty lady ♥
