makes me think of that song from Les Miserables.....
"I used to dream that I would meet a prince....but God Almighty have you seen whats happened since!"
Master of the house? Isn't worth me spit! `Comforter, philosopher' - and lifelong shit! Cunning little brain Regular Voltaire Thinks he's quite a lover But there's not much there What a cruel trick of nature Landed me with such a louse God knows how I've lasted Living with this bastard in the house!
Michael - I look forward to seeing the line re: Elvis auction.
I will also look for that edition of "Les Mis". We almost saw it in New York but chose "Miss Saigon" instead. It was good too. Is "Les Mis" very sad and depressing?
Les Miserables is a struggle for redemption and revolution.
The show was an immediate hit and went on to became one of the most successful and popular of modern plays in many productions around the world.
The first time I saw it I was in awe of how beautiful the music was. The more I saw it and the more I understood the story and got to know the characters...the more emotional it became....
It has sad parts...but leaving the show you feel like you have had an experience like none other that I have experienced in the theater.
It is simply the best combination of words...emotion and music that I have ever heard...
There is a song that Marius sings..."Empty Chairs and Empty tables"....it is about the fact that so many of his friends have died on the barricade...and that he survived. I relate to that song because of all the friends I lost to AIDS in the 80's and 90's and the fact that I survived...
here are the lyrics...
There's a grief that can't be spoken. There's a pain goes on and on. Empty chairs at empty tables Now my friends are dead and gone.
Here they talked of revolution. Here it was they lit the flame. Here they sang about `tomorrow' And tomorrow never came.
From the table in the corner They could see a world reborn And they rose with voices ringing I can hear them now! The very words that they had sung Became their last communion On the lonely barricade at dawn.
Oh my friends, my friends forgive me
That I live and you are gone. There's a grief that can't be spoken. There's a pain goes on and on.
Phantom faces at the window. Phantom shadows on the floor. Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friends will meet no more.
Oh my friends, my friends, don't ask me What your sacrifice was for Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friends will meet no more
and here is the link to Michael Ball singing it at the 10th Anniversary at Royal Albert Hall..

Nick Jonas does at the 25th Anniversary...and its fantastic when Michael Ball comes out and sings....
Michael~ I'm glad you are feeling better....i can see that you look better than ever~
Tinka~ GO SEE Les Miz~ My all time favorite musical. I LOVED Miss Saigon.....but this was even better! It's not sad in a sad way......but in a happy way....the music is breathtaking~ GO!!!~
Tina, I totally agree with "every girls dream." If only....
Michael, I ushered for a play called "Chairs" at our local theater a number of years ago. It was based on the song from Les Mis and the story was about all the friends lost to Aids. I don't know who wrote it, but the local actors were excellent. The story was sad but very moving. I loved it. I wish they would do it again.
Tinka, I think you would like Les Mis. It's dark, but not depressing.
Zona, I hope you had a nice anniversary. My baby boy turned 38 on the same day.
Michael I've never felt a real interest in seeing Les Miz until you shared those lyrics with us. Thank you. I guess I wasn't interested for the same reason that Tinka gave plus I've never liked that part of the world history. So far, my favorite musical is Evita which I really loved. I have to add, though, that seeing Yul Brenner perform as the King in "The King and I" was a very special treat. There will never be another King in my book.
Congrats on being first today. You aren't quite looking like yourself. Do you feel okay?
SacBarb You're so lucky to have seen so many plays and musicals. I really enjoy live theater but it's something I don't do anymore since my husband passed away.
Thanks Michael - I will look at that link and I will buy the DVD. It sounds great.
Tina - I loved Miss Saigon too. I would have liked to have seen many more when I was in New York but they are all very expensive so you have to pick and choose. Les Mis sometimes comes to Vancouver. If it comes again I will see it. My mom, sister, BIL and I saw Phantom and Joseph in Vancouver and they were fantastic.
Just_Lin - I enjoyed Evita too. It came to Victoria. I think my favourite was Joseph and his multicoloured coats. Donny Osmond starred. He really surprised me by being really good. Phanton was good but I really enjoyed "Cats". I wish we had easy access to plays. I don't think I will ever be in New York again.
TINA: I totally agree..as I sit here eating reduced fat Triscuits and low fat cheese for dinner. I have chili cooking..but that's for Randy. I make it so it's ready when he comes home..that's too late for me to eat it though. It's ok..I have Chicken and Stars Soup at Hand. ..sigh.. ;D
TINKA: We lived so close to New York when I was a kid..but my folks never took us there. I always asked my mom why..she said we wouldn't have remembered it anyway..true..but at least I could say I had been there!! :D
MICHAEL: I keep meaning to watch Les Miserables..I'm the best at good intentions with no follow through..sheesh..
BARB: We had a great anniversary! Happy Birthday to your baby boy! :)
J/LIN: What's that saying? "Just Do It!" Take the nap..sometimes it's futile to resist..lol..
I saw Evita in the late 70's in NYC and was so intrigued with Eva Peron I learned practically everything I could about her. I even went to Buenos Aires...found her tomb in the Recoleta cemetery...visited the Casa Rosada. And it was fascinating!
Then when Evita came to Texas A&M I bought the entire 16th row...had a pre-Evita cocktail party. Everything was so beautiful. I had a gorgeous buffet..everyone wore gowns and tuxedo's...rented limo's...what a night...
When I first came back here I would run into people who would say..."do you remember that time you bought all those Evita tickets and had that party?"
And I say "That party?"...oh..you mean the social event of that YEAR!!
and besides...of course I remember it! I'm still paying for it!
The revival opens on April 5, 2012 at The Marquis Theatre with Ricky Martin as Che!!
It is in reviews now. Here is a link to the first curtain call...

Good Morning Michael - I hope that isn't you in the picture.
Loved your music yesterday. Sorry I didn't get to comment. My daughter and family arrived home from Mexico. It was a very busy day.
I never saw Les Mis. I thought it would be too sad for me. I was just judging it by its ads.
Have a great day everyone.
Tinka...
There is no link for the auction yet...will advise..
Get the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Le Miserables. It has the best of the best performers over 25 years...it is fantastic.
Two sold out performances were filmed at O2 Concert Arena in London...
The music is breathtaking...

I so agree with that!
Splat!
Hi!
Bye!
I'm going to bed!
I agree Tina!
I'm feeling puny today. Woke up with my stomach not feeling well at all. That's better now but I am resisting the urge to take a smallish nap or two.
TINA: I totally agree..as I sit here eating reduced fat Triscuits and low fat cheese for dinner. I have chili cooking..but that's for Randy. I make it so it's ready when he comes home..that's too late for me to eat it though. It's ok..I have Chicken and Stars Soup at Hand. ..sigh.. ;D

Waving HI to LYNN and SHIRLEY!
Smash! tonight..don't miss it! :)
Zona I think you should make it for Randy but make it early enough for you to eat it. He can always reheat it. : )
Waving a wing at Shirley and LynnD.
At first, I typed I was waving a wig. LOL
