TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Officials in New Jersey's capital say they've resolved a fight over toilet paper.
Trenton's The Times newspaper reports Mayor Tony Mack's administration will move forward with an emergency purchase of toilet paper and paper towels. Supplies of both dwindled in city buildings while the administration and City Council quarreled over a contract to resupply city government.
The stalemate began last September. The council twice rejected a $42,000 contract for a year's supply of paper products because members raised concerns about a high unit price for hot-drink cups.
Before the $16,000 emergency contract was announced Tuesday, officials said paper towel and toilet paper dispensers were nearly depleted in senior citizen centers, police headquarters, the fire department and other city offices.
Sorry I have been MIA for two days. On Monday we had the worst storm this island has seen in 30 years. Gusts hit 115 k.m.h. We weren't hit hard as our house is protected by a mountain but we lost power and our fence came down. There were no ferries or planes leaving or coming here. Up island where Jack's sister-in-law lives the city was covered with shingles from buildings. There were a lot of trees down here, some landing on homes and cars. Yesterday was calm but another storm is starting up as I type. What is with these changes in weather patterns?
Yesterday I just got up when I fell over hitting the dresser. I didn't feel like typing all day. Today I am black and blue with bruises but I am feeling better. Enough about me. How are you all doing?
Good morning. I am up, showered and dressed and was waiting for a cleaning lady who was supposed to be here 50 minutes ago. I just called her and woke her and she isn't "going to make it today." Thanks so much for letting me know! I am not a happy camper. Chad has been a great caretaker, but I don't expect him to be a housekeeper too. She asked if she could change to Friday. I sure hope she shows up then.
Zona - I wish I had started watching "Smash" from the beginning. It looks like a good show but I don't like joining in mid-season. I will probably buy the DVD when it comes out in September. I like watching TV on DVD because there are no commercials. Thanks for sharing.
Zona, I LOVE this show and I love Katherine McPhee. I remember her from Idol and I loved her on that show too. I missed this week's show because I was watching The Bachelor and I didn't realize it was three hours. I'll have to watch it online.
Good Morning Barb - We were typing at the same time. I have had the experience of waiting and waiting for a cleaning lady and it was most annoying. I soon got a new one.
I love Katherine too. I really think she should have won American Idol. I don't think Simon liked her. He was always harder on her than he was on the others. I can't even remember the name of the man who won.
Tinka, We are having a storm here too, with lots of rain and heavy wind. I really hate the wind. We have trees down all over town too, causing lots of damage to homes and cars.
Well, I think I am going back to bed since I have no housekeeper today. My sleeping pattern is very erratic lately and last night wasn't a good sleep night. Have a good day everyone. BBL
Tinka, I was thinking the same thing when I was writing about Katherine, that I can't even remember who won that year, but I think she was the runner up. Anyway, I am glad to see she is doing so well.
I posted a video of an iceberg imploding yesterday....people in a dinghy very near it filmed it and were lucky they weren't injured. Hope you all saw it....
I also posted a very upsetting story about Donald Trumps sons hunting trip in Africa. They killed a leopard...well several animal...the one that really got to me was the elephant. There is a photo of Trumps son ....having hacked off the elephants tail....holding it up like a trophy...
What in the world would make someone want to kill an elephant? What pleasure could there be in that?
I thinks Trumps sons are as twisted and sick as he is....
Michael - I am sorry I didn't read the blog yesterday or the day before. I had too much on my mind. I bet the people is Jersey are very upset about the toilet paper story. It is probably headline news there.
That is horrible that the Trump sons would have so little concern about animal life. I can believe anything I hear about the Mr. Donald because I think he has no conscience (Ie the way he treated Marla) but I was hoping his sons would be different. I guess the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree.
Barb - I know how you feel going down for a rest knowing that the housekeeper didn't come. I did the exact same thing. When I woke up I was even more annoyed.
I had to google A.I. winners. It was Taylor Hicks, the guy with the grey hair. I don't think he sold many records to date. Katherine was by far the better singer.
Michael You are looking very handsome today, indeed. Why don't you send one of your cleaning ladies on your private plane over to SacBarb's house? I'm sure she would appreciate it greatly.
Zona I saw the show once or twice and thought it was quite good. I was surprised that Katherine can actually act. It may have been best for her not to be saddled with the title of American Idol. I think that might work against some people. She got good exposure on the show, though, which obviously opened some doors for her.
