As of tomorrow, Whabby has written a series of blogs, they will be posted every Wednesday for the next 10 weeks. AHA! I snuck up on it!
EBJ; the ankle's great. I've got a boot for the cast now and can walk on it. For a few days there, with my arm in a sling and dragging my leg, I looked like the hunchback from notre dame.
I think I should be more worried about my brain. It is overloaded from lack of sleep and is hurling out some most offensive things via my fingers. I did not cuddle with Tina last night (I wanted to) and her husband would never even see me because he only has eyes for her.
J/L- that is what I usually do too in the car, however I have been known to have entire converstations with myself as well.
Today is hell day. I feel like the sky is going to fall on my head. Why oh why are there days like this????????????????? ;(
EBJ- We have some good friends who met on EHarmony- they married and now have 2 kids.
Another couple we know met on Match.com, got married last Sept and had thier first baby this past Sunday!!

Carol, I can so relate to your car blogging today. This is a very tense week right now in our home and it is hard to blog right now.

I haven't seen anything from Kgrl lately. I've read reports that the storm is expected tonight/early tomorrow. Some have said it's been downgraded to a tropical storm, others have said evacuate immediately. It's hard to know what the truth is. She is on Oahu, yes? I'd think the big island would bear the brunt. I've seen a "normal" day on the east coast of the big island and it rains buckets. I can't imagine what a storm would do.
One of my clients is a certified financial something-or-other. Like a small scale Bernie Madoff, only honest. I spoke with him yesterday and he said the talking heads were looking at economic recovery sometime around 2014. Also, (I was blissfully unaware of this) China has been buying U.S. notes, which is keeping the U.S. out of financial freefall. If China stops, strap on your chutes.
The good part about this is that the economy is shrinking, meaning prices are being lowered somewhat. I saw a sign at a grocery store yesterday that said all prices had been reduced by 20%. Maybe if we all tighten our belts and lean on each other, we can get through this.
We can also help each other out. If we're traveling somewhere, why not book through Carol? I know there's an accountant here somewhere. Crafty people to make holiday gifts for less skilled owls (materials provided, of course). We don't have to take this bending over. It's gonna hurt, but it doesn't have to hurt so bad.

The lil ho Felicia passed 200 miles north of the Big Island and then headed directly towards Maui and Oahu, and has been downgraded to a TS/TD and is currently just east of Maui. We are starting to get rain as I write this, expect some heavy rain this afternoon and tonite. People are now mad at the forecasters and the National Weather Service for creating a panic....WTF? These are the same people that would have been crying that they we're not warned.
So our house is now prepared for the rest of the hurricane season (June to November...so I was a lil late...lol)

I remember Katrina happened at the same time I was stuck in another hurricane of the coast of Mexico. We were kind of blacked out from the rest of the world. All we heard about was some dang hurricane near Louisiana.
I remember feeling incredibly insulted that MY hurricane wasn't getting any attention. As far as I was concerned, we had front row seats to the end of the world.
It wasn't until we were able to dock that we learned how awful Katrina really was.

I don't think the media created any of it. I waited to the last day, and my trip to stock up was only a week's supply of goods. The media as well as NOAA was always accurate in their forecasts and also their suggestions that the storm would peter out.
I guess your always gonna have people that bitch, just for the sake of bitching. And unfortunately people will get numb to the warnings or even defiant and that leads to tragedy, like we saw in New Orleans. And sadly they forget Iwa and Iniki, both of which wiped out Kauai and some of Oahu's west side.
Now we have to watch the next one rolling in which has yet to be named, they are calling it NINE-E.
And Whabby: I don't like Mai Tai's.... I would rather just do a shot!
Kgrl, you're absolutely right. Hawaii (an Alaska, I think) gets treated like the step-child. I myself am guilty of that. I have taken advantage of the beauty of 4 of the Hawaiian islands, but always have to look at a map to remember where they are.
You guys are out there, 3000 miles from the mainland, and you get all the crap. Earthquakes, hurricanes and tsunamis. We kind of leave you to deal with it on your own, don't we?
Kgrl, I was bitching about the media because the local news here in L.A. is running teasers like, "WILL the Hawaiian Islands survive?" and "Follow the deadly path of the hurricane approaching Hawaii". Then we get all worried, so we check the web (I did indeed go to NOAA) and see that yes, you're in for a ride, but Hawaii will most likely still be there in the morning.

About a year ago, our news was running a headline, "Local celebrity seriously injured in kitchen accident". I already knew from talking to the guy's wife that he'd dislocated his shoulder reaching for some cornflakes at breakfast. The way the news reported it, you'd think he fell on a pile of knives or blown the house up when turning on the stove.

Carol, yes Tina renamed me. I am born again. I still mess up the Italian C's. Sometimes it's "ch" sometimes it's like an "s" and sometimes it's more like the "k" sound. I am quite entertaining in Italy, what with my American accent, inability to roll my r's and throwing in Spanish or Portuguese when I can't think of the right word. Then, when they speak their English to me, I suddenly become ESL as well. "Saved" turns into "save-ed". I'm sure you know what I mean.
Crap.. I had cherries already.. I forgot..
Now what do I have to choose from..

I think I'm going to go pass out into a Benadryl-induced coma but before I do, a word about MySpace. There are two different programs that are out there that allow the person in posession of the programs to become your friend without your permission. One is pretty new hence, it probably hasn't been neutralized yet. I can see people downloading both these programs. We might want to take a sec to make sure we recognize our friends next time we log in to MySpace. I don't see anything current for FaceBook.

Carol, I probably won't remember this in the morning. When you read this, nobody said you're pretty to be nice. When I saw part of you, I wanted to see more. The female, "oh, maybe I could try that look". If I were a man, I'd be wanting to see more because I liked what I'd already seen. The whole world can't be wrong. You are an attractive woman. You're just going to have to live with it.
